Indiana State Motto

The Crossroads of America” (Official)

The Indiana state motto was adopted in 1937. The Indiana Department of Administration explains the meaning behind the Indiana motto as such:

“‘The Crossroads of America’ signifies the importance of waterways, railroads, highways and other transportation facilities in the state, viewed by many as some of the finest in the nation.”

The importance Indiana puts on paths of transportation has roots all the way back to the early 1800s when the major cross state Cumberland Road (today US Route 40) was built.

    1. Good morning, Pat! Another cloudless humid day, starting out at 72 – that will go up fast. For the first time, I didn’t have to refill the jelly feeder this morning. I guess I will be back to filling it once a day until the Orioles depart. Once that happens, the finches and sparrows will have to make do with the regular seed feeders and seed blocks.

      1. Good Morning Filly!

hubby decided to restain the deck railings since it’s still only 65* and a good breeze blowing, but the sky is still mostly cloudy and when you do see blue sky–it’s the palest blue!

I got the glass jelly cups in the mail yesterday so hubby will at some point use them to build a wooden jelly feeder holder. I will replace one of the hummer feeders with this and that will keep the squirrels and the chipmunks from getting to it. that might not be till next year though.

    1. Good morning, Gina! I haven’t watched any of the World Cup events. I am definitely NOT a soccer fan! The only sports I watch these days are the big 3 horse races, altho I am going to record the Nascar race today just for shits & giggles. Whether or not I decide to go back to watching regularly will depend on how much DEI crap they throw around!

  1. EXCERPT: “French politician and lawyer Marine Le Pen has launched a new candidacy for the French presidency, hoping to ride a global political pendulum as it swings from socialism and leftism back toward the right.

“I do think you’re seeing all that take place. But populism, focusing on what’s best, what’s common sense, what’s good for the people of your country, what’s good for your country, is, I think, the right approach,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Just The News.

Voters in country after country appear to have grown weary of the same experiment: ballooning welfare states, open-border policies, identity-driven governance, and supranational rules that delivered stagnation, insecurity, and a quiet erosion of national sovereignty.

A recent report by the U.S. Commerce Department found: “Confidence in the government’s ability to implement necessary structural reforms remains weak, with most investors anticipating continued economic deterioration and a persistently negative investment sentiment. The nationalist shift

With a Le Pen victory, France could be the latest stop on a correction already visible in nations such as Italy, where Giorgia Meloni, of the Brothers of Italy party became prime minister in 2022, leading a right-wing coalition government.

Geert Wilders’ anti-immigration Party for Freedom won the largest share of seats in the Netherlands’ 2023 legislative elections and joined a governing coalition.

Sweden’s center-right bloc took power in 2022 with parliamentary support from the nationalist Sweden Democrats.

  2. Huh…..I wouldn’t have paid that bitch a dime until ALL appeals have been exhausted!

EXCERPT: “Supreme Court filings this week confirm that E. Jean Carroll has received roughly $5.62 million from President Donald Trump after the justices late last month declined to hear his appeal of the civil judgment in the case.

But the court’s action resolves just one chapter of the long-running legal battle – leaving a separate $83.3 million defamation judgment pending.

Trump is expected to ask the high court to review that case, which his attorneys argue raises broader questions concerning presidential immunity and the scope of official presidential speech.

The high court’s June 29 ruling, revealed Tuesday in the filings, is connected to the 2023 civil court verdict in which Trump was found liable for sexually abusing Carroll, a writer, in the mid-1990s and defaming her after she publicly accused him. The court’s ruling also left the civil court verdict intact and clears the way for Carroll to collect the judgment, plus accrued interest, after years of litigation…..”

The brothers, who moved to Romania in 2016, were arrested on an extradition request from the U.K., a person familiar with the matter, told the wire service, on the condition of anonymity. The brothers, who have millions of followers on social media, have been wanted in the United Kingdom, where they face rape and human trafficking charges, the wire service also reports.

The former professional kick-boxers, who hype misogyny and hyper-masculinity, were arrested there in 2022, accused of participating in schemes to lure women for sexual exploitation, allegations they deny. 4. Just The News: “New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly says he’s in an “active conversation” with the city’s Law Department on whether he has the authority to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he arrives in September for a United Nations General Assembly. Mamdani, a Muslim and a democrat-socialist, made the comment in an interview with The New York Times, the newspaper reported Friday.

“I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in the Hague,” Mamdami said this week on the news outlet’s “The Interview,” referring to the home of the United Nations’ International Court of Justice. “He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court,” Mr. Mamdani also said. “And what you will find is that is an opinion that is held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years.”

Mandami made a similar statement during his mayoral campaign last year, saying he would order the city’s police department to arrest Netanyahu. However, Mamdani has said he’ll only do what the law allows him and, “We won’t be writing our own laws.”

Mandami said he would be honoring a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for Netanyahu’s role in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, which the United Nations commission has called a genocide.

Netanyahu has said he is not concerned about Mandani’s threat and has accused him of supporting Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that controls a parts of Gaza.:

A bipartisan bill introduced Tuesday would overhaul the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) by allowing pending COVID-19 vaccine injury claims to move into the VICP from the much-criticized Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program. React19 called the proposal the “most significant effort in decades to restore fairness” to the nation’s vaccine injury compensation system.

EXCERPT: “U.S. House of Representatives lawmakers on Tuesday introduced bipartisan legislation to overhaul the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), proposing to move pending COVID-19 vaccine injury claims into the program.

The Vaccine Injury Compensation Modernization Act would transfer covered COVID-19 vaccine injury claims from the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) into the VICP. The bill would also update compensation limits, expand vaccine coverage and increase the number of officials who decide claims.

React19, a nonprofit that advocates for people injured by COVID-19 vaccines, called the proposal the “most significant effort in decades to restore fairness to America’s vaccine injury compensation system.”

“For React19’s community, the bill represents far more than a policy proposal,” the organization said. “It represents hope.” React19 co-founder Brianne Dressen said the legislation reflects years of advocacy by people who felt they had been forgotten. “Today is the culmination of years of relentless advocacy by people who refused to let their injuries be ignored,” Dressen said. “This legislation sends an important message: every American deserves to be heard.”

House Ways and Means Committee members Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) and Lloyd Smucker (R-Penn.) introduced the bill.

  7. “Stephen Miller Brings Down the House with BRILLIANT Speech on Left-Wing Terrorism (VIDEO)”

GP, by Cristina Laila, July 18, 2026

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House advisor Stephen Miller delivered remarks at the start of a ministerial meeting at the State Department this week. Stephen Miller delivered a brilliant speech about left-wing terrorism and the threat of far-left terror to the US.

Stephen Miller said the left is full of hate and jealousy. He said that they covet and turn those emotions into a desire to subjugate and to inflict pain.

“Let’s not pretend for a moment that these radical leftists, these terrorists, are operating from a place of sincere political conviction.”

“The leftist is fundamentally motivated by envy, by hatred, by jealousy. The leftist looks at what is beautiful and what is good and what is natural and is filled with envy and hatred.”

“The leftist looks at a perfect family with the perfect life and a perfect job and perfect kids, that goes to church every Sunday, and is filled with a feeling of inadequacy and jealousy — and they covet and they turn those emotions ultimately into a desire to subjugate, to oppress, and to inflict pain and suffering.”

It’s not a coincidence that when you look at these violent Antifa demonstrations and you see any photograph of those who are assembled — to be blunt, not one of the people that is demonstrating looks like a normal person. Not one looks normal. They’re all deformed in some way in their appearance, in their dress, in their mannerisms.”

“Their outer appearance becomes a manifestation of their inner hatred.”

“The greatest risk that we have is that our institutions have grown too soft and too cowardly to be able to defend themselves against a mortal threat.”

“If your civilization is your home, you must defend it with the same passion and force as if an enemy intruder is inside your own house where your family lives.”

      1. Yeah, that whole thing about dogs and cats is waaaay overblown!!! I looked at the Norfolk shelter’s website – there are a couple of dogs that caught my eye. I don’t think I would want a Boxer – I don’t like any dogs with pushed-in noses. The fee for dogs is $150 but that includes all the shots, chip and neutering. There was one yellow lab-type that looked like Shelby. We’ll see…..I’d really like another Aussie but those are hard to find w/o paying thru the nose.

  11. Every Sunday, I gather the funniest things I stumbled across during the week. Some are clever. Some are absurd. Some are politically incorrect. More than a few are guaranteed to offend somebody. That’s the point. As the saying goes, if no one is ever offended, you’re probably not telling jokes. You’re just seeking consensus.

Humor has always been one of the safest ways to challenge orthodoxy, puncture arrogance, and remind us not to take ourselves quite so seriously. If every joke has to pass through a committee to ensure no one is uncomfortable, it stops being humor and starts being public relations.

Life is serious enough. Once a week, let’s laugh at it together.

Society shames clinginess like it’s toxic, but there’s a huge difference between codependency and someone who just genuinely loves being around you. A clingy partner isn’t checking your phone or controlling your life, they’re the person who texts you random I love yous throughout the day. Who wants to spend quality time together because they actually enjoy your presence.

Who shows affection naturally without you begging for it. Who makes loving you look easy because for them, it is. Meanwhile, emotionally unavailable people treat basic affection like a chore. You have to ask for attention. Beg for texts back. Request quality time like you’re scheduling a business meeting.

They make you feel needy for wanting what should be automatic in a relationship. Life’s genuinely too short for that. Find someone whose love language is showing you constantly, consistently, enthusiastically that you matter. That’s not clingy, that’s partnership.” —Author unknown

KITV, By Jeremiah EstradaJul 17, 2026 Updated

HPD CAR LIGHTS NEW GENERIC 2025

HONOLULU (Island News) — The older brother of former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was arrested and charged after he allegedly tried to lure several children to his Waikiki hotel room on Sunday. The suspect, 55-year-old Batarti Gabbard, was charged on Friday, July 17, 2026, in connection to the “stranger danger” incident that occurred at a hotel in Waikiki on Sunday afternoon, July 12.

The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) said that at 2 p.m. on Sunday, the suspect approached several children, including a 9-year-old boy, at a pool area of a Waikiki hotel. He allegedly offered them gum and money to get them to join him in his hotel room. The suspect reportedly asked the children for their names and wrote them in a notebook. The children refused and he walked away afterwards.

A 42-year-old woman reported the incident to police, according to HPD highlights. Gabbard remains in custody for second-degree custodial interference. Charges were filed against him after the prosecutors’ office reviewed this case. Gabbard was arrested the day prior, Thursday, July 16, for a separate theft offense.

Gabbard appeared in court on Friday morning where he pleaded not guilty to the theft. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court again for the theft offense on Aug. 14, 2026. Regarding the custodial interference offense, there is no court date set at this time.

Senator Mike Gabbard and Carol Gabbard released this statement:

“Our oldest son Bhakti has had mental issues in the past but has been doing well for the last 10 years. Several days ago, he started acting erratically, as a result of smoking pot. His wife kicked him out of the house, so he’s been sleeping on the streets. He gave away his car to a homeless person; lost his ID and phone and has no money. He’s renamed himself, Batarti, and also Jim Morrison Jr., as he’s having delusions of being a rock star.

“This afternoon, a family member took him to Queen’s Hospital ER to have a psychological evaluation. Bhakti told the doctor they would find cocaine, ice and pot in his blood tests. And this evening, he was admitted for a 72-hour hold at Queen’s, while they continue to monitor him and decide next steps.”

Mike and Carol’s children also includes Tulsi Gabbard, who served as the director of national intelligence for the Trump administration.”

  14. “‘Sharia Is Already Here,’ Speaker Tells Plano Mosque Open House”

    Carlos Turcios | Jul 19, 2026

EXCERPT: “A photo illustration depicts the debate between American constitutional law and Sharia during a July 18 open house at the Islamic Association of Collin County in Plano. | Photo illustration by The Dallas Express; original photo by Carlos Turcios/The Dallas Express

A Muslim outreach leader told visitors at a Plano mosque Saturday that Sharia is “already here,” describing it as a religious framework Muslims follow through charity, family obligations and personal conduct.

Outside the Islamic Association of Collin County, an Iran-born Christian who said he lived under Sharia offered a starkly different warning. He argued that Islamic law becomes dangerous when it gains political power and is enforced by the state.

The competing messages unfolded during an open house billed as “Understanding Islam & Shariah: Myths vs Facts.” About 100 people attended the event at the mosque. The DX Brief

    • The event: WhyIslam Dallas organized a July 18 open house at the Islamic Association of Collin County in Plano with mosque tours, food, a presentation and questions from visitors.
    • What was said: GainPeace Director Dr. Sabeel Ahmed said Sharia is already practiced in the United States through Muslims’ personal religious conduct. His remarks presented it as personal religious guidance, not a replacement for American civil law.
    • The dispute: A Christian attendee questioned the treatment of women in some Muslim-majority countries. Outside, Edwin Isagholi, who said he was born in Iran and lived under Sharia, warned about blasphemy and apostasy laws.
    • Why it matters: The exchange placed two different meanings of Sharia in direct conflict: a personal code of faith and an enforceable political or legal system.

‘The Reason It Is Not Coming Is Because It Is Already Here’

The free event ran from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Islamic Association of Collin County, also known as Plano Masjid. The Eventbrite listing described it as an opportunity to learn about Islam, ask questions and engage in “respectful, meaningful conversations.” The event materials listed the mosque, GainPeace, WhyIslam and ICNA Dallas as partners. GainPeace describes Ahmed as its director.

Ahmed told attendees not to reduce Sharia to criminal punishments or to the conduct of governments and groups that invoke it. He described it as guidance governing how Muslims worship and live. “To take care of the neighbors, it’s part of the Sharia. To take care of your parents, to take care of the children, it’s part of the Sharia,” Ahmed said. “To have strong families, it is part of the Sharia. It is part of the Sharia to fight immoralities. It is part of the Sharia to fight for equality.”

“Sharia is a beautiful guidance Allah has given,” he added. “Just because some people misuse it, we blame those people, but not the concept of Sharia.”

Ahmed then addressed a concern that has become central to political debate in Texas.

Some people may fear Sharia is coming to the U.S.,” he said. “Do not fear. Sharia is not coming to the U.S. And the reason it is not coming to the U.S. is because it is already here.

Ahmed immediately explained what he meant. Serving lunch to neighbors, giving to the poor and following personal religious duties were examples of Muslims practicing Sharia, he said.

“Right now, as you eat your lunch, you are part of the practice of Sharia by Muslims,” Ahmed told the audience. He also argued that Sharia and the U.S. Constitution share principles, including equality among races. He presented Sharia as voluntary religious observance, not as a replacement for federal or state law.A Christian Visitor Questions the Treatment of Women

The discussion grew more pointed when a visitor who identified himself as Gary said the event had been enlightening and that he saw similarities between Islam and Christianity. He also questioned the treatment of women he had observed while traveling overseas.

“If I was a woman, I might wonder, what’s in this for me?” Gary said. He described seeing women carrying luggage for men, standing outside cafes and wearing heavy clothing in extreme heat. He also questioned whether some Muslim immigrants were resisting assimilation.

Ahmed responded that American law gives women the freedom to choose what they wear. He distinguished religious teachings from cultural practices and said Islam calls both men and women to modesty. “Islam is big on morality. Islam is big on decency, and Islam is big on chastity,” Ahmed said. “According to Islamic faith, both men and women should be wearing modest clothes.”

The exchange echoed a February candidate forum at the East Plano Islamic Center, where Iranian-born congressional candidate Abteen Vaziri challenged the audience over his interpretation of women’s status under Sharia.

“As someone whose entire family is Muslim, I’m not down with Sharia law,” Vaziri said at the forum, as previously reported by The Dallas Express. “Sharia law says that women on that side of the room are worth half as much as men. Do you all agree with that?”

Audience members disputed Vaziri’s characterization. His comments drew audible reactions, and one attendee was physically restrained…..”

Shocking video obtained by The Post shows the usually busy intersection of West Broadway and Grand Street in Soho inundated with heavy flood waters.

Several cars, including ambitious taxi drivers, can be seen cautiously driving through the flooded streets trying to make their way out of the underwater mess – while pedestrians were trapped with some using garbage bags as protection against the rising water.

How does shit like this happen?
