What Shall We Cook Today?

Today I am sharing my favorite lasagna recipe! I do not like ricotta cheese, so I use a combination of sour cream and cream cheese instead.  I have tried the lasagna noodles that do not require pre-cooking, but I was unsatisfied with the results, but you could always choose to substitute those if you wish.  And while I like mozzarella cheese, I am not in love with it, lol, so I do not add it between layers—some folks do.  Again, it’s what YOU like that counts.  This is a wonderful dish to assemble early in the day and put in the fridge till an hour or so before supper.  Then remove from the fridge while you preheat the oven.  Slide it in the oven for an hour and it’s done!

LASAGNA

1 pound ground beef, browned, rinsed, drained and seasoned to your taste

1 jar Spaghetti sauce (we like Prego)

9 Lasagna noodles cooked and drained*

1 8-ounce cream cheese slightly softened

1 16-ounce sour cream

Mozzarella cheese (I prefer finely shredded)

Preheat oven to 350*.  Combine the seasoned, browned ground beef with the spaghetti sauce.  In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and the sour cream.  Spray a 13 x 9 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.  Assemble the lasagna in this manner: a layer of 3 noodles, then ladle 1/3 of the sauce/ground beef, then drop tablespoons of the sour cream/cream cheese mixture over that using approximately 1/3 of the mixture per layer.  You should be able to make 3 layers ending with the sour cream/cream cheese mixture.  Top with mozzarella cheese.  I top that with oregano, but any Italian seasonings you prefer would work also.  Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake at 350* for 45 minutes.  Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the mozzarella is melted. Enjoy!

*Lasagna noodles expand slightly when they are cooked, so you may want to trim them to fit your dish (I do, but I am admittedly anal about such things).

    “(KTNV) — Officials say that Death Valley saw almost a year’s worth of rainfall within three hours last weekend. They say that the rain caused widespread damage, and closure of all park roads.

    “The heavy rain that caused the devastating flooding at Death Valley was an extremely rare, 1000-year event,” says Daniel Berc, meteorologist with the National Weather Service Las Vegas. “A 1000-year event doesn’t mean it happens once per 1000 years, rather that there is a 0.1% chance of occurring in any given year.”

    Additionally, many miles of roadway are known to have moderate to severe asphalt damage with hundreds of miles of roadways impacted by debris. Road conditions are still being assessed, as damage makes access to some areas impossible by vehicle.

    To date, there is said to be no reported injuries from visitors or park residents, and people who were previously sheltering in place have been able to carefully travel out through the damaged roadways. No park roads are currently open because of ongoing safety concerns and active road work.

    “Death Valley is an incredible place of extremes,” said park superintendent Mike Reynolds. “It is the hottest place in the world, and the driest place in North America. This week’s 1,000 year flood is another example of this extreme environment. With climate change models predicting more frequent and more intense storms, this is a place where you can see climate change in action!”

      in these days when they’re putting so much crap in our food, I like to have options. my beef is real beef. i may have to try canning some time and make my own sauce…but this is good for now. I am making lasagna for dinner tonight actually. After we eat, I will cut us each a piece for leftovers one night this week, and then freeze the remaining in meal quantities. easy supper for busy nights.

    “As you must be aware,” Gohmert wrote, “2 U.S.C. § 1979 states that ‘any Member … of either House of Congress’ can ‘obtain information from the Capitol Police regarding the operations and activities of the Capitol Police that affect the Senate and House of Representatives.’ Subsection (c) makes clear that nothing in that law may be construed to prevent us, as Members of the House of Representatives from our ability to obtain those videos.”

    Gohmert concluded that “Releasing this information is absolutely essential to proper governance and truth to protect and perpetuate this self, governing nation.”

    ‘It’s About Revenge’

    As The Epoch Times reported July 5, attorneys of Jan. 6 prisoners and defendants have provided evidence in several cases that indicate the government is manufacturing evidence to arrest and incarcerate people who attended the protest at the Capitol. In the meantime, Gohmert insists the government is also hiding evidence that could be used in the defense of these people.

    “That’s exactly what they’re doing,” Gohmert reiterated, noting how he himself has been a victim of the Jan. 6 Committee’s “Soviet-style propaganda.” Reports disclose how Cassidy Hutchinson, former aide to the then-Whitehouse Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, told the Committee during her June deposition that Gohmert asked then-President Donald Trump for a pardon.

    Gohmert demanded a release of the full, unedited video and transcript of Hutchinson’s deposition, saying the way the video was presented erased the fact that he was actually seeking pardons for “very deserving military members, former military, and one civilian servant.”

    “I’ve been personally affected by the lies created by using tape,” Gohmert told The Epoch Times. “They had Cassidy Hutchinson saying I requested a pardon without getting the full context. I have never asked for a pardon for myself. I’ve never done anything that needed a pardon. But I was requesting pardons for a number of people that have been screwed over by the justice system.”

    While a spokesperson for the Capitol Police declined to comment on the letter to The Washington Times, they did push back on allegations that Jan. 6 prisoners and defendants were not provided full access to video that has been provided to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO). “Every January 6th defendant has access to the same footage, which is everything the USAO is releasing,” the spokesperson told The Washington Times. “They do not just get what is relevant to them.”

    I will never forget that conversation. They were already celebrating what looked like an overwhelming victory based on the election day voting, and he was ebullient and a little slurred, and I could hear loud, excited celebratory chatter in the background.

    To which I replied: “You know me, and I’m telling you, President Trump may be winning by 657,000 votes right now, but if we don’t stop them from shutting down the voting centers, he’ll be losing by 100,000 votes by tomorrow, or whenever they

    The retailer did a Christmas in July-type announcement, saying all locations will be complete by October 15, just in time for the holiday shopping season.

    A Democrat deal, agreed to by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-CA) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), subsidizes electric vehicles made in Canada and Mexico — gutting the “Buy American” rules initially included in the legislation.

    The Democrats’ “Inflation Reduction Act,” estimated to eliminate about 30,000 jobs in the United States, is set to be a major win for Mexico and Canada’s auto industries as well as the multinational corporations that outsource U.S. auto jobs to each of the countries.

    A provision originally included in the legislation initially gave thousands in tax credits to American consumers buying electric vehicles that are made in the U.S. Though the credits go directly to consumers, they are a boon for automakers as they subsidize sales.

    The goal, as with most Buy American rules, was to pressure automakers to reshore auto manufacturing to the U.S. and open state-of-the-art electric vehicle plants.

    That provision, though, was changed to ensure that electric vehicles made in Mexico and Canada can also qualify for the tax credits. The Canadian government has claimed victory with the change, noting that the credits will be a boost for their industry.
