What Shall We Cook Today?

Today I am sharing my favorite lasagna recipe! I do not like ricotta cheese, so I use a combination of sour cream and cream cheese instead.  I have tried the lasagna noodles that do not require pre-cooking, but I was unsatisfied with the results, but you could always choose to substitute those if you wish.  And while I like mozzarella cheese, I am not in love with it, lol, so I do not add it between layers—some folks do.  Again, it’s what YOU like that counts.  This is a wonderful dish to assemble early in the day and put in the fridge till an hour or so before supper.  Then remove from the fridge while you preheat the oven.  Slide it in the oven for an hour and it’s done!

LASAGNA

1 pound ground beef, browned, rinsed, drained and seasoned to your taste

1 jar Spaghetti sauce (we like Prego)

9 Lasagna noodles cooked and drained*

1 8-ounce cream cheese slightly softened

1 16-ounce sour cream

Mozzarella cheese (I prefer finely shredded)

Preheat oven to 350*.  Combine the seasoned, browned ground beef with the spaghetti sauce.  In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and the sour cream.  Spray a 13 x 9 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.  Assemble the lasagna in this manner: a layer of 3 noodles, then ladle 1/3 of the sauce/ground beef, then drop tablespoons of the sour cream/cream cheese mixture over that using approximately 1/3 of the mixture per layer.  You should be able to make 3 layers ending with the sour cream/cream cheese mixture.  Top with mozzarella cheese.  I top that with oregano, but any Italian seasonings you prefer would work also.  Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake at 350* for 45 minutes.  Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the mozzarella is melted. Enjoy!

*Lasagna noodles expand slightly when they are cooked, so you may want to trim them to fit your dish (I do, but I am admittedly anal about such things).

            1. I know….I was contemplating that…..but if you think about it – if this corruption is all overturned, Pence will be caught and charged so…..I believe Piglosi would be ousted, which would leave Smarmy McCarthy as Leader of the House, presumably…..which is 3rd in line after the VP….it would be one huge fucked up mess, I know that!

  1. Entire Article @ FB: “There’s an old saying: A hit dog will holler.

That’s what progressive grifter Shaun King appears to be doing following a Washington Free Beacon report that he used tens of thousands of dollars of donor money from his social justice PAC to buy a purebred dog. King defended the purchase in social media posts and vowed to “return the pain back to those that have hurt my family.”

The former Bernie Sanders surrogate embarked on his vengeance tour after the Free Beacon reported on Monday that Grassroots Law PAC, which King founded in 2019 to “elect candidates who are committed to reducing mass incarceration and police violence,” paid $40,650 to a California dog breeder called Potrero Performance Dogs. King said this week he bought Marz for protection “because literal white supremacists have been coming to our home.”

There is no indication that the PAC’s payment is illegal, but it does raise questions about whether King’s organization is using its money as donors intended. “This luxury dog expense may not be illegal for a PAC, but it shows little respect for King’s donors,” said Scott Walter, the president of Capital Research Center. The PAC’s payments to Potrero are among its largest expenditures. The PAC has contributed roughly $60,000 to political candidates since 2021.

King said that Grassroots Law PAC, which “covers all of [his] security costs,” approved the Marz purchase. He said the expenditure was an “affordable” option compared to round-the-clock human security guards, though a recent study found that families with licensed security dogs saw only a 1.7 percent decrease in property crime.

Grassroots Law obscured the purpose of the payment to Potrero, labeling the expenditure for “contractor services.” King did not disclose that his PAC paid for Marz when he announced “a new addition to the King family” back in February. It is unclear why King, who makes money from speaking gigs, book sales, and his media company, did not pay for the dog out of his own pocket.

King confirmed he recently returned Marz back to Potrero. It is unclear whether Potrero issued a refund to King, though Grassroots Law PAC has not disclosed any refund payments from the breeder. Potrero showed Marz at an American Kennel Club show last month, where he won Best in Show. It is unclear whether Marz will be used for stud services, but puppies of Marz’s breed can fetch thousands of dollars each. Potrero charges $4,800 for its Italian mastiff puppies and $6,800 for its “advanced training course.”

King has been dogged for years by allegations of fraud and financial mismanagement at his various social justice endeavors, and has also been the source of violent threats that he now decries. A former ally, DeRay Mckesson, accused him of taking money from one of his social justice projects. The mother of Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old Ohio boy killed by police, accused King of stealing from a fundraiser for her son.

King falsely accused a white man of murdering a seven-year-old black girl in 2018. The man, Robert Cantrell, allegedly received death threats after King suggested he was connected to the murder and called him a “racist, violent asshole.” Cantrell’s niece said their family had received threats to “rape, torture and murder the women and children in your family.” Cantrell committed suicide several months later. Two other men were sentenced to prison this year for the girl’s murder.

  3. EXCERPT: “A judicial panel on Aug. 4 issued an order consolidating more than 31 lawsuits brought against Merck & Co. for injuries allegedly caused by its Gardasil human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. The panel was “not persuaded” by Merck’s argument that consolidating the cases would increase vaccine hesitancy and cause a flood of “meritless” vaccine injury claims.

The lawsuits against Merck allege the pharmaceutical giant fast-tracked Gardasil through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s approval process and deceptively conducted clinical trials to mask serious side effects and exaggerate the vaccine’s effectiveness.

The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation said the individual lawsuits involve common questions of fact, and that “centralization in the Western District of North Carolina will serve the convenience of the parties and witnesses and promote the just and efficient conduct of the litigation.”

    The judicial panel wrote:

“These personal injury actions present common questions of fact arising from allegations that plaintiffs, or their minor children, developed postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and various other injuries as the result of an autoimmune reaction to the Gardasil vaccine, which is recommended for the prevention of certain strains of the human papillomavirus and various cancers.”

The lawsuits consist of product liability claims, claims for breach of warranty, fraud, negligence and in some cases, violations of state consumer protection laws.”

  4. EXCERPT: “Amazon on Friday expanded its capacity to connect to and collect information about consumers’ homes and private lives, announcing its plan to purchase of iRobot Corp., the maker of the popular Roomba vacuum.

The e-commerce giant announced it will acquire the company for $1.7 billion in an all-cash deal, taking control of one of its competitors following Amazon’s release last year of Astro, its own “smart” home assistant, which can move between rooms in a home and recognize faces.

But the purchase said Robert Weissman, president of the consumer advocacy group Public Citizen, “is not just about Amazon selling another device in its marketplace.” “It’s about the company gaining still more intimate details of our lives to gain unfair market advantage and sell us more stuff,” he said.

Like Amazon’s other home products including Alexa and Ring, Roomba can connect to smartphones and WiFi. The vacuum creates a map of users’ homes so it can tell where furniture and doors are as it cleans floors.”

    1. don’t think amazon won’t be providing that info to law enforcement–so if they want your guns they will have a blueprint of your house…maybe not where the guns are, but certainly they will know what your house looks like.

I’ve also figured out what I need to open up the other ends so I can add 2 more vines. An electric hot knife – Harbor Freight in Norfolk has one for $20. Next trip, I’ll pick one up.

    Joe Kent’s own ballot challenged!
    FTA
Kent told The National Pulse that he had to go into the offices of the election administrators on Monday, August 8th, in order to verify his own signature – a process that many older voters may be unable to attend to so easily – so that his vote would count.

“It’s a mess of a system,” Kent told The National Pulse.

The primary election in WA-3 is curious enough by itself, using a non-partisan, top-two system, “in which all candidates appear on the same ballot, for congressional and state-level elections. The top two vote-getters move on to the general election, regardless of their party affiliation.”

But Kent’s primary appears to have had especially strange problems, with the count still not concluded almost a week since election day. At the time of writing, around 81 percent of ballots (183,000) have been counted. Another twenty-odd thousand remain.

Kent is currently running 0.1 percent behind establishment Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler, who voted to impeach President Trump. Critics wrote off Kent’s chances on election day, but the former Green Beret who served 11 combat tours and won six bronze stars has clawed his way back as the votes have trickled in.

Now, critics suspect there could be foul play in certain counties, where votes for Kent are being rejected, including his own.

  11. We had a stunningly beautiful day today – yes, I had to water but the temp never got higher than 81, which it just now reached. I’ve had both French doors open onto the patio all day with the fan blowing cool air in. That beautiful blue, blue sky and puffy white clouds – days like this are rare in the summer! I am going to enjoy this evening and will be sipping my glass of Rumchata in the candlelight! So peaceful….just the slightest breeze now and then, and the birds chirping…..have a good night, everyone!
