Many years ago, when all of our families were younger and we lived much closer to one another, we had wonderful picnics and parties. We would rotate who hosted, who brought the meats, who was in charge of games for the kids and so on. No one family was stuck doing it all, all the time.

There were traditions, of course, my mom made the potato salad and I was always in charge of games. My mother-in-law always made either the beans or occasionally mac & cheese. Her beans, though, were the STANDARD for baked beans! They were homemade, soaked overnight, honest to goodness baked beans! And the flavor? Perfection! So much so that my sister-in-law and I repeatedly asked for her recipe.

She always promised to give us the recipe, but event after event would pass, and still we were recipe-less. One day, while we were planning the next picnic, my sister-in-law and I decided we would tag team her to get the recipe. (After all, she never said it was her own secret, never-to-be-revealed recipe. That we would have respected.) When we invited her and my father-in-law (it was at my sister-in-law’s house this time), I told her I would come over the morning of the picnic and help with the beans. That way, I told her, I could write the recipe down as we made the beans and she wouldn’t have to worry about it.

Imagine my surprise when she told me she already had it written down for us! And true to her word, she brought us each a recipe card! I tucked the card into my purse, and didn’t give it another thought. A few weeks later, I was planning hamburgers for supper and pulled out the recipe to make a pot of beans. Hmmmmm…there was no need to soak beans overnight? Her recipe was just throwing ingredients into a casserole, baking for half an hour, stirring and repeating that process 2 more times. Puzzled, I called her and asked. Sure enough, she said she no longer soaked the beans, just used northern beans and assured me this was her recipe.

At dinner that night, the beans were good, but not my mother-in-law good, so the next day I called my sister-in-law. I wondered if she made the beans and how they turned out. She said she tried the recipe—and while they were good—they weren’t quite like our mother-in-law’s. We puzzled over it for a bit, and then she asked, do you think it’s the Worcestershire Sauce? I asked what Worcestershire Sauce? Hmmmmmmm…as we compared the recipes, each of our recipes contained ingredients the other did not. Sigh…

When we confronted my mother-in-law about the discrepancies, she denied knowing that she did that. She explained that she was always “tweaking” the recipe and we both got possible versions. Neither of us bought the excuse, but filed it under “keeping the family peace” and moved on.
Several years later, my mother-in-law passed away suddenly and since my sister-in-law was no longer a part of the family, my daughter and I were tasked with cleaning out her kitchen. We came upon the recipe box and sat down to thumb through the recipes. My daughter was anxious to “inherit” the mac & cheese and nut tassie recipes and I was curious about the beans. None of those was in the box. We were stumped. Perhaps she had her recipes memorized and never wrote them down?
We moved on to other cabinets and eventually found the casserole dish she always brought the mac and cheese in. My daughter gleefully claimed the dish. If she couldn’t have the recipe, she could at least have the dish! Then she opened the freezer. There on the shelf were a half dozen Stouffer Mac & Cheese dinners…the size that would fit perfectly into the casserole dish she was holding.

Our eyes locked over the casserole dish and we burst out laughing. To this day, I will always believe I am making the best baked beans there is. Here is my adopted recipe:

Ukraine Is the Latest Neocon Disaster
Jeffrey D. Sachs | June 27, 2022 | OtherNews
The war in Ukraine is the culmination of a 30-year project of the American neoconservative movement. The Biden Administration is packed with the same neocons who championed the US wars of choice in Serbia (1999), Afghanistan (2001), Iraq (2003), Syria (2011), Libya (2011), and who did so much to provoke Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The neocon track record is one of unmitigated disaster, yet Biden has staffed his team with neocons. As a result, Biden is steering Ukraine, the US, and the European Union towards yet another geopolitical debacle. If Europe has any insight, it will separate itself from these US foreign policy debacles.
Etc.

Hawaii democrat goes to jail…for taking bribes
FTA
Another day, another corrupt Democrat has been caught breaking the law.
A prominent Hawaii Democrat was sentenced to 40 months in prison on Wednesday for taking bribes in exchange for shaping legislation while in office.
Former Democratic Senate Majority Leader J. Kalani English pleaded guilty to honest services wire fraud earlier this year, admitting in court that he accepted bribes from a Hawaii business owner in exchange for shaping legislation that would benefit a company involved in publicly financed cesspool conversion projects.

English must surrender to authorities and begin serving his sentence on Aug. 16.
“English peddled the power and influence of his position as a Hawaii State Senator and Majority Leader to enrich himself and betray the trust bestowed upon him by those he was elected to serve,” U.S. prosecutors said in a sentencing memo urging the judge to send him to prison for three-and-a-half years.

77 billions stolen from Unemployment…who would have thought? SMH
FTA
More than $77 billion of the unemployment insurance (UI) program’s total of $413 billion in payments in 2021 were made improperly, according to a report from the Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General (IG).
The Labor Department (DOL) “published an improper payment rate of 18.71 percent for the UI program, which resulted in an estimated $77.2 billion in reported gross improper payments,” the IG reported. The improper payment rate for the previous year was 9.17 percent, equal to about $37.8 billion.
“Additionally, DOL published an unknown payment rate of 0.21 percent, which resulted in estimated unknown payments of $865 million. These estimates were based on a statistical estimation approach that met a 95 percent confidence level, plus or minus 3 percent,” the report said.
The IG report was prompted by requirements of the Payment Integrity Information Act of 2019, which requires federal departments and agencies to establish and report to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) improper payment rates in government benefit programs, as well as annual targets for reducing those rates.
The 18.71 percent rate of improper UI payments in 2021 represents a significant increase for the program, which saw a steadily improving trend during the previous four years of President Donald Trump’s administration.
The rate at the end of the first year of Trump’s tenure was 12.11 percent. The rate increased to 12.63 percent the following year, but then plunged to 10.21 percent in 2019, and to 2020’s 9.17 percent, according to data provided by paymentaccuracy.gov.
Rep. Rick Allen (R-Ga.), a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, told The Epoch Times on July 6 that he’s co-sponsoring legislation to address examples of wasteful federal spending like that highlighted by the IG report.
“It’s unacceptable that criminals utilized a global health crisis to defraud the United States government’s unemployment programs. Even worse, the misguided Biden administration policies, which discouraged people from going back to work, incentivized scammers to steal more money from the American taxpayer,” he said.
“Congress must now fulfill its oversight duties and help hold these criminals accountable. I am a proud co-sponsor of [Texas Republican] Rep. Kevin Brady’s Chase COVID Unemployment Fraud Act, which would empower the states to recover the money lost to fraud.”

this is a well reasoned opinion about what should happen to mass murders who confess–swift execution. it would deter better than ceasless laws which are already on the books…
FTA
You know how we know they aren’t accomplishing anything? Because the reforms Rinehart called for are both already on the books in Highland Park where the shooting occurred. Despite a local so-called assault weapons ban plus red flag laws and a state with some of the strictest gun-control laws in America, many people died. If the latest shooting taught us anything about guns, it’s that even tightly restricting them doesn’t deter killers.
It’s time for a new approach, and this case presents the perfect set of circumstances to justify it. The Highland Park shooter should be executed, and he should be executed quickly.
There would be nothing “just” about criminal justice if we dispensed with due process, but it’s not much more than a formality that we use the word “alleged” to describe this particular shooter. Not only have authorities confirmed that the male suspect dressed as a woman to conceal his identity, hide his face tattoos, and blend into the frantic crowd. Not only were these facts captured on video, with a witness apparently watching the suspect wrap his firearm in a red blanket before ditching it. Not only has he had multiple run-ins with local law enforcement that were ultimately relayed to state police in a report identifying him as a “clear and present danger,” plus an incident wherein police confiscated 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword from him after he threatened to “kill everyone” in his house.
But he also already told police he’s the shooter. And if his confession of guilt weren’t enough, he also admitted that he almost attacked another July Fourth celebration in Madison, Wisconsin, but decided against it because he just hadn’t had enough time to plan out a murderous scheme.
There’s a more effective deterrent to this carnage than catapulting mass murderers into the limelight by detailing every step of their grisly crimes or featuring their faces on the cover of Rolling Stone. There’s a better way than making impassioned speeches about gun violence, but then helping to bail out violent rioters and advocating for low bail that enables offenders to violently mow down women and children with a vehicle. It’s time to be honest about the fact that bans on AR-15s and red flag laws, in addition to stomping out due process and being ripe for political weaponization, simply don’t work to deter crime. Illinois tried that experiment. It failed.
There are a handful of things that become apparent about deterrence, but here’s a pretty basic idea: Swiftness and certainty are more important than severity. Of course, if punishment must be proportional for justice to truly be just, then execution is warranted in cases of mass murder, the perpetrators of which cannot die enough deaths to make up for the many they stole.
But it isn’t the mere execution of a known mass murderer that deters other disturbed individuals from shooting up jubilant innocents. The reality of taxpayer-funded eons on death row wouldn’t appear to have any concrete deterrent effect, much like lengthy incarceration. But what about a visual representation of this chilling message: You will be caught, and you will be put to death — soon. Certainty and swiftness accomplished.
We’ve watched the inverse cycle play out before. A young man goes on a gruesome killing spree. Everyone learns his face and name during wall-to-wall coverage of his acts, including the alienated who get inspired to pursue their own moments of infamy. He’s charged with crimes, and politicians pounce for their own personal benefit. And then — nothing. The perpetrator gets whisked away to some facility to await trial for ungodly amounts of time, and that’s the last we hear of it. If we get any updates on his fate (which is intended to deter others but fails on account of its slowness and uncertainty), those are afforded a fraction of the attention by the media and are likely to be buried by coverage of the next catastrophe.
It’s time to end this cycle. If politicians are serious that they’re sick of “living with this carnage,” the Highland Park shooter should be tried and convicted on the basis of his confession and executed immediately. Perhaps instead of inspiring another coward to pick up a gun, it will inspire them to think again.

UN approved chemtrails in Spain for cv…Spain admits to it
FTA
STORY AT-A-GLANCE
A Royal Decree published by the Spanish government declared a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic, authorizing the use of biocide chemicals
The government order also details the intended application of the chemicals, which is via “aerial” techniques, not manual application
The Spanish government authorized the spraying of chemtrails under the guide of the “state of emergency” declared during the pandemic
An estimated 17% of people worldwide believe that chemicals are intentionally sprayed into the air as part of a secret large-scale atmospheric program (SLAP), also sometimes referred to as covert geoengineering or chemtrails
In a survey of experts on atmospheric chemistry, one scientist answered “yes” when asked whether they have ever encountered evidence that indicates the existence of SLAP, due to a remote location with unusually high levels of barium in the atmosphere

Considered the most beautiful horse breed in the world, Friesians are native to Friesland in the Netherlands. Known for the striking black coat and long flowing mane, Friesians were originally bred to carry medieval European knights into battle.
Other than carrying noble knights in shining armor, Friesians also powered Dutch agriculture. Because of their elegant appearance and spectacular movement, they often pulled carriages for European royalty. After the industrial revolution, this gorgeous breed a popular choice for carriage drivers, dressage riders, and even the film industry!
The breed nearly went extinct at the turn of the 20th century, with only 3 pure breeding stallions left. Lucky for us, the Friesian breed successfully recovered following the second World War. The Friesian Studbook has strict rules for those who want to register their horses. Hence why all Friesians are black with no white markings and have those gorgeous flowing manes and tails.
The origins of the Arabian horse date back as far as 3,000 BC, which places it amongst the most ancient breeds in the world. The beautiful and elegant features of the breed were shaped by the nomadic Beduin tribe of the Arabian Peninsula. The Arabian horse has the potential to excel in almost any discipline. Due to their outstanding stamina, these horses are especially valued in the endurance sport. Arabian bloodlines can be found in most modern horse breeds as they were used to add extra resilience and refinement. (Add a little white here and there and this is my Z!)
Yet another ancient and beautiful horse breed, the Akhal-Teke is known for its unique metallic shine. Originally from Turkmenistan, the breed is estimated to be more than 3,000 years old. As we mention in our rarest horse breeds guide, it’s believed there are roughly 6,600 Akhal-Teke’s left in the world.
So what makes these horses shine like gold? Well, the secret lies in the unusual structure of the hair that makes up their coat. The Akhal Teke Association of America explains that the opaque core of the hair shaft is replaced by the transparent medulla, which bends the light to create a metallic glow. The Akhal-Teke’s hardiness makes it an excellent choice for long-distance riding, as well as most English disciplines. The famous perlino Akhal-Teke stallion Kambarbay has been declared numerously as the most beautiful horse in the world!
The Andalusian is a Spanish horse breed dating back to the 15th century. Due to strict selection criteria, its distinctive baroque appearance has remained unaltered ever since. Similar to Friesians, they have long, thick manes and tails which makes them truly a sight to behold.
Andalusian bloodlines have influenced several modern horse breeds over the centuries. These gorgeous horses traveled on the ships of the conquistadors to the New World where some of them escaped and became today’s wild Mustangs. Historically, Andalusians were often used for bullfighting and still are today in certain parts of Spain. They are also a go-to breed for classical dressage and filmmaking.

Haflingers are easily recognized by their chestnut coloring and flaxen manes and tails. They originate from the mountainous region of Hafling located in Austria and Northern Italy. The thought behind the Haflinger horse was to create a versatile breed that is ideal for forestry and agricultural work as well as riding and driving. They even serve in the Austrian Army as they are extremely sure-footed on rough terrain. This beautiful golden horse breed is easy to keep and they have a long lifespan. Haflingers are great all-rounders and also frequently used for equine-assisted therapy. Their calm and kind nature, smooth gaits, and swinging back makes them ideal for this kind of work.
The heavyweight champions of the horse world, Percherons were originally used as war horses in the former Perche province of Western France. Similar to Clydesdales, their primary role soon became the powering of agriculture and hauling of heavy cargo. They have also been distributed to the United States in the late 19th century.
Percherons are usually white or black in color. Although very heavily muscled, they are relatively delicate and agile for a draft horse. This is due to the addition of Arabian blood at the turn of the 19th century. Their immense pulling power makes these horses ideal for all types of draft work. In France, Percherons make up the majority of draft horses. Crosses of Percherons and warmbloods have even resulted in the breeding of successful dressage and show jumping horses!
The Lipizzaner horse was created in the 16th century by a stud farm in the Austrian Empire. It is closely related to Spanish, Arabian, and Barb horses. Today, this beautiful grey or white horse breed is the national horse of Slovenia.
Lipizzaner horses are used by the famous Spanish Riding School of Vienna where they perform advanced classical dressage. The horses arrive at the school when they are four years old and are usually fully trained by the time they reach 10. Other than dressage, the Lipizzaner also performs well in show jumping and eventing due to their athletic build. They are most widely used in countries of Middle Europe. All Lipizzaner horses are born black and mature into a light grey color. Black, brown, and bay versions also exist, although extremely rare.
The Marwari is a beautiful horse breed native to North-Western India. It is different from all other horses in that it has exotic-looking inward-curving ears. The breed is closely related to the Kathiawari horses, with which it shares this unusual feature. Frankly, both breeds are known to have exceptional hearing!
Traditionally, owning a Marwari was the privilege of Indian royalty and nobility. The horses were treated as part of the family, often wearing tack adorned with jewels. Marwari horses were also valued warhorses due to their bravery and remarkable ability to find their way home. The Marwari is a very athletic horse and performs well in most English disciplines including polo.

The beautiful Gypsy Vanner is the horse of the Irish Travellers and is a common sight in Ireland as well as the British Isles. It is a relatively new breed, with the official registry founded in 1996. However, some sources suggest that Gypsy Vanners have been purposefully bred since the Second World War. Their predecessors are thought to be colored Shire horses which the Romani selected to fit the role of pulling their wagons.
The Gypsy Vanner is a cob-type horse with a long flowing feather on the legs. Commonly found with a black and white-colored coat. Known for their funny mustaches, Gypsy Vanners are beautiful giants and an integral member of Romani families. These horses are still used today in the carriages of the Romani travelers. It is also a great children’s pony and often ridden in amateur competitions.
An originally Danish horse breed, the Knabstrupper is known for its beautiful spotted coloration. They are often confused with the other black and white horse breed, the Appaloosa. Established in the early 19th century, the breed can be traced back to a chestnut mare with leopard markings. At one point they were the mounts of the Danish cavalry, but their peculiar leopard coat made them an easy target.
Found in both horse and pony sizes, the Knabstrupper is a good all-rounder both under saddle and in harness. They are also widely used as circus horses. Due to their head-turning coat, Knabstruppers were used in the ceremonies of the Danish royalty.
As the name suggests, this breed originates from the Black Forest region of Germany. The official studbook opened in the late 19th century and to this day it only registers horses of chestnut color with a flaxen mane and tail. The breed is often referred to as the “Golden Retriever” of horses due to their outstanding patience and gentle temperament. The ancestors of the Black Forest horse were originally used in forestry and agriculture. Today, the breed is a popular all-rounder for both riding and driving. The breed is currently under “endangered” status and is protected by the German government.
The stars of the ever-popular Budweiser commercials, Clydesdale horses are known for their thick, flowing feathers, white blaze, and docile temperament. This charming breed comes from the Clyde river valley in Lanarkshire, Scotland. During the 19th and 20th centuries, they were exported in large numbers to Australia, New Zealand, and the United States where they became popular farm animals.
As large draft horses, they originally were and are still used for agriculture and forestry work. Pleasure riders and drivers also enjoy Clydesdales as they’re easy to train and move great in harness. Along with Shire horses, Clydesdales have also been selected for the honor of parading on royal ceremonies as drum horses. Other than that, this huge horse breed is often seen on equestrian shows of all types due to their magnificent appearance and movement.

EXCERPT: “An unlisted video discovered on YouTube shows Donald Trump’s plane getting a new paint job, suggesting the former president could be about to announce his 2024 candidacy. The four minute promotional clip was uploaded on July 4 by a local videographer and shows Louisiana-based Landlocked Aviation completing a refinishing job on the plane known as Trump Force One.
“The video features the plane being moved into a hangar then wrapped in plastic and washed and sanded,” reports Valiant News. “When the plane was stripped down, workers prepared primer, then paint, and began to completely cover the plane’s iconic paint job.” The jet was then repainted to match the original design, with the addition of an American flag on the plane’s tail.”

EXCERPT: “About 60,000 Army National Guard members and Army Reserve soldiers who refused to comply with a Department of Defense (DOD) COVID-19 vaccine mandate are no longer allowed to participate in their military duties and were cut off from some of their pay and benefits, Army officials announced July 1.
Of the more than 40,000 members of the Guard who remain unvaccinated, 14,000 have said they do not intend to ever receive a COVID-19 vaccine, Guard officials told CBS News. Approximately 22,000 Reserve soldiers have refused to get vaccinated.
“Soldiers who refuse the vaccination order without an approved or pending exemption request are subject to adverse administrative actions, including flags, bars to service and official reprimands,” an Army spokesperson said in a statement. If the soldiers continue to refuse to get vaccinated, the consequences could be even more severe.
“In the future, Soldiers who continue to refuse the vaccination order without an exemption may be subject to additional adverse administrative action, including separation,” the Army spokesperson said. Despite the military’s deadline, the services said they wish to continue to work with the remaining holdouts as commanders face increased anger from critics concerned over a recruiting crisis that has left Defense Department officials struggling to fill the ranks.
According to Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), the Army is having “significant trouble filling its ranks” while simultaneously discharging soldiers who refuse to get vaccinated.
As of mid-April, the Army had “discharged 255 soldiers for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine and is on track to give another 2,500 to 3,000 the boot before the end of the year — a number roughly equivalent to two or three Army battalions,” Johnson wrote on his website.”
