The kukui is a ‘canoe plant’ brought by Polynesian voyagers. Early settlers carried essential plant species in their double-hulled canoes during Pacific voyages. Kukui was among the most important plants they transported to Hawaii. Archaeological evidence shows kukui cultivation in Southeast Asia dating to 13,000 BC. Polynesians spread the tree throughout Pacific islands. The species originated in Malaysia or Indonesia, not Hawaii.
Voyagers selected kukui for its versatility. The tree provided numerous resources crucial for survival. Seeds were easy to transport and grew quickly. This made kukui ideal for establishing new settlements. The oily nuts served as the primary light source before Western contact. Hawaiians strung candlenuts on palm leaf midribs. They burned the nuts one at a time, each providing light for several minutes. Stone lamps also burned kukui oil.
Fishermen applied kukui oil to calm water surfaces. The oil spread across choppy water, creating a clear view beneath. This helped fishermen see their nets and catch fish. A Hawaiian proverb states ‘Pupuhi kukui—malino ke kai’ meaning ‘spewed kukui nuts—calm seas.’
The nuts provided food when roasted and ground into paste called ‘inamona. The oil treated sunburn and wounds. Tree bark made black dye for tapa cloth. The durable wood formed canoes and storage containers.

The silvery-pale green foliage stands out from other Hawaiian trees. Young leaves and branches have star-shaped hairs that create a whitish appearance. This distinctive coloring helps identify kukui forests from a distance. Large heart-shaped leaves have three to five lobes. The leaves measure four to eight inches long with toothed edges.
Small creamy-white flowers appear in dense clusters at branch ends. The flowers bloom primarily in winter and spring. Walnut-sized fruits turn from green to brown when ripe.
The kukui symbolizes enlightenment, protection, and peace in Hawaiian culture. Its role as a light source connects it to guidance and illumination. The tree represents the resourcefulness of ancient Hawaiians who used every part of the plant. Kukui also honors Polynesian voyaging heritage and the plants that enabled settlement of remote Pacific islands alongside symbols such as the Hawaii state flag.

maybe Wheezer found a cool place to hunker down?
do orioles lay eggs twice? when we got back from walmart last night, the yarn holding the jelly feeder on the railing was untied. and this morning a little female oriole was pecking at the jelly feeder string again. it seemed odd.

Hmmm….good question!
“Most oriole species raise only one brood per season, laying a single clutch of 3 to 6 eggs each spring. However, some species—like the Orchard Oriole—are occasionally double-brooded. Additionally, if the first nest is destroyed or fails early in the season, orioles will re-nest and lay a replacement set of eggs.”

thanks for this!
perhaps i will cut some more yarn and see if she wants it.
I can’t really see her latest nest anymore since all the leaves are full on the tree she picked.

https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f6a8.svg TRUMP JUST BRIEFED THE NATION FROM THE SITUATION ROOM TONIGHT:
The last time a president did this during an active bombardment, Bush announced the ground war had begun.
– 49 Tomahawks fired at Iranian targets as close as 40 miles from Tehran
– Fighter jets swept Iranian radar and air defenses near the Gulf ahead of the strike package
– Trump, Vance, Kushner, and Witkoff all present in the Situation Room — TONIGHT
– Iran had spent months routing every message through Pakistani and Qatari intermediaries — refusing direct contact
– Then the Tomahawks started hitting
– Mid-bombardment, top Iranian officials picked up the phone and called the White House DIRECTLY
– Trump: bombing will “stop shortly” — then came the condition
– “Sign the deal or we’ll bomb the S out of them TOMORROW NIGHT”
– The deal on the table: open the Strait of Hormuz and close the nuclear path — BOTH
– This is the first direct Iran-to-White House communication after months of proxy diplomacy
– The last time Iran broke from intermediaries and went direct, it was the back-channel that ended the hostage crisis
– Situation Room confirmed: the call happened MID-BOMBARDMENT — not after, not before — DURING
– Tehran now has one night to decide between a signature and another strike package
– The Strait of Hormuz carries 20% of the world’s oil — TONIGHT that’s the price of the deal
Trump doesn’t brief the nation from the Situation Room to announce a ceasefire. He does it when he wants the world to know the other side just blinked.
Whatever Iran decides before morning — it’s MARKET MOVING. It’s WAR CHANGING. And the clock is already running.
I’ll keep you updated as this unfolds, turn on notifications this is EXTREMELY important. A lot of people will wish they followed me sooner.

Just The News: “President Donald Trump on Thursday said the United States will be taking Kharg Island “at some point in the not too distant future.”
The comments were made in a post on Truth Social, in which the president said the U.S. would be hitting Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT.”
“The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT. At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” President DONALD J. TRUMP
https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116731447139970106
The goal of the proposed operation to take Kharg Island, Trump said, would be to take over Iran’s oil and gas markets in the same way the U.S. did in Venezuela. That operation is “working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America,” Trump said.
Kharg Island is a continental island of Iran in the Persian Gulf. It provides a seaport for exporting up to 90% of Iran’s petroleum products.”

Well, duh!!! Stupid people doing stupid things = cashless society! SMH
EXCERPT: “Sweden has led the way in Europe’s transition to a cashless economy, being among the first to have credit or debit card readers at points of sale – even for something as low-cost as a newspaper so that customers no longer had to dig in their pockets for coins or paper currency.
But now, the country that led Europe’s modern march toward a cashless society is among those reconsidering that journey amid growing concerns about cyberattacks, conflict, power outages, privacy and national resilience. Increasingly, policymakers in Sweden and other countries that have been pushing the trend, including Denmark, Estonia, Finland and the Netherlands are realizing that cash still matters.
Most transactions in these countries remain cashless. But the adoption rate for cashless transactions has leveled out, and now the government is creating incentives to stabilize the current level of cash usage rather than letting it fall further.
“We now need to think about resilience,” Erik Thedéen, the governor of Sweden’s Central Reserve Bank, said last year. “If everything breaks down, we need to have cash.”
Official government guidance in “emergency preparedness” brochures sent to Swedish households recommends citizens maintain at least one week’s worth of cash to be available in a time of crisis. Other early adopting countries are taking similar steps.
Thedéen said the reversal was sparked by a destabilized globe in which exists the threat of an expanded war between Russia and Ukraine, the threat of digital attacks, and signs from President Donald Trump that the U.S. may not come to the aid of its European allies if they were attacked. Thedéen said the country’s advanced digital payment infrastructure could make it more vulnerable…..”

This article was written by a 26 yr old college student by the name of Alyssa Ahlgren, who’s in grad school for her MBA. What a GREAT perspecitve..https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/svg/1f44d-1f3fd.svg
My Generation Is Blind to the Prosperity Around Us!
I’m sitting in a small coffee shop near Nokomis (Florida) trying to think of scroll through my newsfeed on my phone looking at the latest headlines of presidential candidates calling for policies to “fix” the so-called injustices of capitalism. I put my phone down and continue to look around.
I see people talking freely, working on their MacBook’s, ordering food they get in an instant, seeing cars go by outside, and it dawned on me. We live in the most privileged time in the most prosperous nation and we’ve become completely blind to it.
Vehicles, food, technology, freedom to associate with whom we choose. These things are so ingrained in our American way of life we don’t give them a second thought.
We are so well off here in the United States that our poverty line begins 31 times above the global average. Thirty One Times!!!
Virtually no one in the United States is considered poor by global standards. Yet, in a time where we can order a product off Amazon with one click and have it at our doorstep the next day, we are unappreciative, unsatisfied, and ungrateful. ??
Our unappreciation is evident as the popularity of socialist policies among my generation continues to grow. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said to Newsweek talking about the millennial generation, “An entire generation, which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity.”
Never saw American prosperity! Let that sink in.
When I first read that statement, I thought to myself, that was quite literally the most entitled and factually illiterate thing I’ve ever heard in my 26 years on this earth. Many young people agree with her, which is entirely misguided.
My generation is being indoctrinated by a mainstream narrative to actually believe we have never seen prosperity. I know this first hand, I went to college, let’s just say I didn’t have the popular opinion, but I digress.
Why then, with all of the overwhelming evidence around us, evidence that I can even see sitting at a coffee shop, do we not view this as prosperity? We have people who are dying to get into our country.
People around the world destitute and truly impoverished. Yet, we have a young generation convinced they’ve never seen prosperity, and as a result, we elect some politicians who are dead set on taking steps towards abolishing capitalism.
Why? The answer is this,?? my generation has only seen prosperity. We have no contrast. We didn’t live in the great depression, or live through two world wars, the Korean War, The Vietnam War or we didn’t see the rise and fall of socialism and communism.
We don’t know what it’s like to live without the internet, without cars, without smartphones. We don’t have a lack of prosperity problem. We have an entitlement problem, an ungratefulness problem, and it’s spreading like a plague.”

The Iranian regime will lose the zero-sum game it is playing.
Any damage it inflicts on our allies in the Gulf will be paid for with funds extracted from Iranian Accounts.
Any tolls paid to the Persian Gulf Strait Authority will be offset by funds extracted from their accounts.
Every attack Iran launches will only deepen the economic and financial consequences it faces.

Huh…..I think I mentioned the other day the long train of heavy trucks hauling what looks like steel I-beams and huge power stations, with wide load trucks fore and aft, past my house. They came thru again just now and I decided to go out and watch to see where they were going. They were moving slow enough that I could ask the driver of the last truck why they were using our gravel road instead of the highway 2 blocks north. Turns out they were being unloaded from flatcars at the RR crossing a block from me to the N/W. There is a solar farm being built on farm land just to the east of Plainview somewhere. So I went looking…. Osmond is only about 10 miles east of me.
“North of Osmond Solar Project: Local power authorities—including Northeast Nebraska Public Power District (NNEPPD)—and developers mapped out a several megawatt solar farm just north of neighboring Osmond. The planning commissions and county boards have advanced this project with construction and road maintenance planning. [1]”
“Goldenrod Solar Farm (Pierce County): A large-scale project encompassing roughly 1.75 million dollars in projected annual county revenue. The Pierce County Board of Commissioners previously granted a permanent Conditional Use Permit to Boulevard Associates LLC (a subsidiary of NextEra Energy) to construct a massive 443-megawatt solar farm on approximately 2,500 acres of Ag-Intensive land. [1, 2, 3]”

The Wall Street Journal broke the story Wednesday: U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office in Washington has issued 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐩𝐨𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐉𝐏𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞, 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐨 demanding records on customer account closures and the stated reasons behind each one. The probe centers on whether these banks systematically shut down accounts based on customers’ political views or religious beliefs — a practice that is illegal under federal law.
Fox News legal analyst Greg Jarrett laid out the stakes: banking discrimination on political or religious grounds violates roughly half a dozen federal statutes, constitutional free-speech protections, and state consumer law. And here is the key detail buried in the timeline: 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. The Biden administration pressured financial institutions to close accounts of people and organizations it disliked — gun retailers, conservative nonprofits, crypto firms, and religious businesses. Now Trump’s Justice Department is building the paper trail to prove it.
The exposure is enormous. Jarrett flagged civil enforcement first: federal monitors, mandatory restitution, and fines potentially reaching 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬. But if prosecutors can establish a conspiracy to violate civil rights — a coordinated effort between government and banks to suppress Americans based on politics — criminal charges against the banks and their individual officers become possible. Grand jury subpoenas are not fishing expeditions. They are issued when investigators have targets.
Trump signed an executive order in August 2025 titled “Guaranteeing Fair Banking for All Americans” directing banking regulators to probe politicized debanking and refer violations to DOJ. Some subpoenas date back to 2025. The investigation is already underway. If you had a bank account closed or a business cut off because of your politics or your faith in the past several years, that pattern is now the subject of a federal criminal investigation.

“Are We Measuring Ticks or Measuring Fear?”
Dr. Robert W. Malone, Jun 11, 2026
EXCERPT: “Every season brings a new health scare, a new public health grift. This spring it is ticks. Open a newspaper, turn on the television, or scroll through social media, and you will be told that America is facing a terrible tick season. Lyme disease is spreading. Alpha-gal syndrome is lurking in the woods. Emergency rooms are seeing record numbers of tick bite patients. Public health officials are warning the public to take precautions.
The evidence most often cited comes from the CDC’s Tick Bite Tracker. Earlier this year, the agency announced that emergency department visits related to tick bites were running at the highest level for this point in the season since 2017, when the program began.
That sounds alarming until you look at what is actually being measured.
The CDC is not measuring ticks. The CDC is tracking people who seek medical care in emergency rooms after a tick bite. Furthermore, the CDC database lists only three years in total, as shown below. The data for 2018-2024 are unavailable. Three data points, that’s all we have:
Also note that this is an expression of tick-bite chief complaints per emergency department visit, not all tick bites, or even tick bites at doctors’ offices. Only people who were so scared of a tick bite that they went to the emergency room, as opposed to a doctor’s office. That just reeks of fear porn driving this epidemic of tick bite-related ER visits.
Those are not the same thing.…….”

California voters passed Proposition 64 in 2016, legalizing cannabis and directing a portion venue to youth substance abuse prevention. What happened to $370 million of those funds since 2019? CalDoge — the California government accountability project — just released its first investigation, and the answer is: almost none of it went to substance abuse prevention.
The money flowed through Elevate Youth, a financial intermediary under the Center at Sierra Health Foundation, which received the $370 million and distributed it through over 500 micro-grants averaging $700,000 each. The organization running this operation isn’t doing it for free. The CEO of the Center at Sierra Health Foundation makes over $600,000 a year. Black man in Florida filmed himself in an anti-white, racially motivated attack, “down to 4 crackers na free karmelo” by punching a veteran in the head, all for internet fame. He told the veteran he was going to die after mockingly accusing him of serving on the jury that ny.
This thug needs to be identified and charged with a racially motivated assault.

Images from the National Mall show the numbers “8647” appearing in dead or discolored grass east of the World War II Memorial. The markings stretch across a large section of the Mall and are clearly visible from a distance. U.S. Park Police are investigating the incident. The numbers are emerging just days before the area near the National Mall will be full of fans for a UFC match on Trump’s birthday on Sunday. Maybe sod will work.
