Delaware State Motto

“Liberty and Independence”

The Delaware state motto was formed in 1783 by the Society of the Cincinnati. It was adopted in the year of 1847 and it appears on both the state flag and state seal.

The underlying message inherent in the state motto refers to Delaware’s prominent role in United States’ great fight for independence and struggle for freedom.

In 1847 the Delaware motto was added to the seal “… as an expression of the ideals of American government…”.

In this way “Liberty and Independence” became a cultural expression of Delaware’s patriotic identity. The patriotic message of the Delaware state motto is very typical of American state mottos in general.

  1. Morning All.

the sun is up but it’s 50*. hubby says it’s only going to get colder for the next few days.

devastating news about Mom. She has uterine cancer and given her age, the doctors decided not to do a biopsy (VERY painful for her) but they said they could see the large mass on the CT scan. She is getting discharged back to her Memory Care facility today while my brother and sister in law look for hospice for her.

    @BuzzPatterson

This is absolutely hysterical! Democrats have used the jungle primary in California for 14 years requiring the top 2 candidates, regardless of party, to move forward to the general election.

It has served them well. So well, in fact, that if a Republican even wins a primary, it’s been considered a “win.”

Now, Republicans have gained the upper hand and have THE top 2 candidates for governor. As it stands, 2 Republicans will advance to the general and shut out the Dems.

How do Democrats react? They demand an end to the jungle primary. 🤣🤣🤣

    So predictable.

  4. trying to get a handle on taxpayer funding for useless degrees.

    FTA

The U.S. Department of Education announced Friday it will be stripping federal student loan funding from any college program that does not yield a high salary after the student graduates.

Stereotypically worthless degrees in areas like “women’s and gender studies” have become the standing joke that jabs at how unserious college has become. But under new proposed rulemaking from the Education Department, if schools want to offer degrees that bury students in debt while giving them poor job prospects, the institutions will have to fund those programs themselves.

“The Trump Administration’s proposed accountability framework is grounded in common sense: if postsecondary education programs do not leave graduates better off, taxpayers should not subsidize them,” Under Secretary of Education Nicholas Kent said in a press release. “This consensus-backed framework will drive meaningful change in postsecondary education, ending years of regulatory whiplash and addressing student debt that has left too many students worse off.”

Right now, the Education Department’s student loan portfolio, funded by the American taxpayer, is nearly $1.7 trillion. It is estimated that fewer than 40 percent of borrowers are in repayment, and nearly 25 percent of borrowers are in default.

  5. Just The News: “Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats opened fire on a tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to the British military, in an incident that follows Tehran’s announcement that it has reimposed restrictions on the critical shipping route.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said the vessel and its crew were unharmed, though it did not disclose the tanker’s identity or destination.

Mohammad-Bagher Qalibaf, speaker of Iran’s Parliament, said on Friday that Iran would again close the Strait of Hormuz as a result of the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran said it was reinstating controls over traffic in the strait. Throughout the seven-week conflict, Tehran has largely barred vessels from transiting the waterway unless they receive explicit authorization.”

  6. Of course they did!!! SMDH

EXCERPT: “Hoping to alleviate parents’ concerns about the frequency of disruptions this school year, the Fairfax County School Board has backed a calendar for the upcoming academic year that cuts down on the number of early-release days and nixes Veterans Day as a holiday.

At its meeting Thursday (April 9), the board debated the calendar for the upcoming school year in an effort to cut down on weeks with fewer than five days of classes.

The board was considering eliminating Indigenous Peoples’ Day and Veterans Day as official student holidays, but only the Veterans Day proposal passed. Both motions directed Fairfax County Public Schools to implement a curriculum to teach students about the groups that the occasions are intended to recognize.

Superintendent Michelle Reid said the current school year was planned for 25 five-day weeks, but special elections cut down on two of those weeks. The proposed calendar for 2026-2027 had 24 planned five-day weeks……”

  7. Just The News: “President Donald Trump said Friday that he has directed War Secretary Pete Hegseth to begin releasing the government’s files on UFOs and unidentified aerial phenomena. Trump promised in February to order the release of the files after he criticized former President Barack Obama for divulging “classified information” when he said he believes aliens are real.

The president still did not give a clear indication of when the documents would be released, but said federal agencies are in the process of reviewing documents and will be releasing information “very, very soon.”

“We found many very interesting documents, I must say,” Trump said at a Turning Point USA rally. “The first releases will begin very, very soon. So you can go out and see if that phenomena is correct.”

Trump has maintained that he does not “know” if aliens or UFOs are real, but Obama said that if the U.S. government is aware of extraterrestrial beings on Earth then they hid it from him during his presidency.

The topic also comes after a Pentagon report in 2024 revealed an increase in sightings but no evidence of space aliens.”

  11. freaking ridiculous

Spencer Pratt exposes Los Angeles Department of Water and Power salaries

    – Over 100 LADWP employees earn an annual compensation of over $500,000 per year each
    – 26 LADWP employees earn more than $600,000 thousand dollars per year
    – 4 top level LADWP employees earn more than $700,000 dollars a year
    – The LADWP has a combined water and power budget of 11 billion dollars

I looked into it further, and get this

100% of leadership and oversight of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power are aligned with Democrats

Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass appointed the 5 member Board of Water and Power Commissioners, which sets policy and approves major decisions like executive hires and salaries

California is essentially run by the mafia

They are literally giving themselves $500,000 -$800,000 EACH and this is just one department

That is not even remotely close to being true or accurate. Haitians are not 20% of the US heath care workforce.

According to the pro-immigration American Immigration Council, Haitians make up 0.6% of the healthcare workforce in the U.S.

  16. Just The News: “Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz tore into President Donald Trump in Spain on Saturday, calling him “trigger-happy,” adding that he has “no exit plan” for the Iran War.

“We’ve got a feeble-minded, trigger-happy president who plunged us into a war where no threat was present, with no clear objectives and no exit plan. We need to call that what it is. That’s fascism. Or at least it’s fascist curious as they would be,” Walz said at the Global Progressive Mobilization event in Barcelona.

Trump has argued that Iran posed a threat because the regime has been developing a nuclear weapon and funding terrorism in the region.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani delivered remarks via video about affordability, according to Fox News. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., criticized the “illegal and dangerous wars being waged by Netanyahu and Trump in Iran and Lebanon.”

  17. “Trump is Gathering Evidence in Iran”

    Clandestine, Apr 18, 2026

“Iran is about Obama/Clinton. The oil, global reset, leverage over NATO/China, etc., those were just added bonuses. This entire military operation in Iran, has been about destroying Iran’s nuclear program, AND proving that the Obama administration is responsible for it.

That’s why Trump repeatedly says the “nuclear dust” is the number one most important thing in negotiations. He doesn’t just want Iran to sign a deal not to make nukes. He wants the Uranium from Fordow, so the US MIL can use nuclear forensics to confirm the origins of all the uranium. US MIL Intelligence knows exactly where it came from, they are just there to confirm what they already know.

Trump is in Iran to gather incontrovertible evidence. Isotopic signatures. Nuclear fingerprints. This is why all propaganda assets have been deployed, why both the Left and woke-Right squeal so loudly about Iran, and why there is so much disinformation online about the situation in Iran.

Trump is about to secure the smoking gun that will take down the Obama administration, hence why the traitors are in such a panic. It’s happening, and they know they can’t do anything to stop it.”

  19. i was down in the basement helping hubby sand the new ramp boards. we had a really hard winter with thick heavy ice on the roof and when it fell, it took chunks off the railing and destroyed part of the ramp. Hubby decided it would be easier to replace the deck boards than to try to fix only half of them.
I also walked up the grapevines–all but one plant already has tiny buds emerging. And in the vegetable garden, a deep purple pansy has come back up and 2 small flowers are open. the rest of the vegetable garden is a weedy mess…lol.
I strolled around the pond–as far as I could–the ground is very wet on the far side, but my irises are starting to come up and the pond has a lot of frogs already!

    1. Your hubby made a smart choice replacing rather than repairing, IMO. It will be more stable and secure that way. It’s fun seeing all the flowers starting to come up in the spring.
