What Shall We Make Today?

I thought this month, we’d start out with a pretty, green dessert for St. Patty’s Day this month…Mint Chocolate Cookie Ice Cream Pie!

Ingredients

3 pints mint chocolate chip ice cream, softened

1 store-bought chocolate cookie pie crust

1 1/2 cups crushed mint chocolate sandwich cookies

Whipped cream, for topping

Directions

Scoop 1 1⁄2 pints of the mint chocolate chip ice cream into the chocolate cookie pie crust and spread until smooth. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the crushed cookies and press so they stick to the ice cream. Freeze until solid, about 1 hour.

Top with another 1 1⁄2 pints ice cream. Top the pie with whipped cream and the remaining 1⁄2 cup crushed cookies and freeze until solid, at least 2 hours.

Enjoy!

  1. Good Morning All!

well we’re starting at 20* today, so maybe a better day coming. It was gorgeous full moon that we got to see for a bit, but no stars that i can see right now.

    see what today brings.

    1. Morning, Pat! Did you see the blood moon? It’s cloudy and foggy here so no chance of that, besides which…..I forgot, as usual! But at least it’s above freezing at 39. Things appear to be back to normal with Wheezer – he ate the tuna overnight and was sleeping in the chair this morning – first time since the yellow tabby made an appearance! I refilled his dish and added another big scoop of tuna – he ate the tuna and is back on the chair snoozing.

      1. Morning filly!

no we saw the bright full moon when we went to bed, but it was starting to cloud over then already. We got freezing crap and ice pellets hitting the metal roof now…and ice on the deck.

        How’s he looking, better?

        1. He definitely needs to be wormed – skinny and his coat is really rough. He also wheezes when he breathes. I’m beginning to think he may have FeLV, which is Feline Leukemia Virus. It is endemic in stray cats. My daughter’s cat, Jake, had it and they can live well with continuous treatment if it’s started early enough. Needless to say, that treatment is expensive and it is no doubt too late to start with Wheezer, IF that’s what he’s got. I’ll spring for the wormer but nothing more than that.

          1. that’s a shame. we don’t get stray cats out here…too many hawks.
the only strays we currently have live in the woodshed (not counting mice and snakes…lol) are a bunny and a small porcupine.

        2. “Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus that is one of the most common and serious infectious diseases in cats worldwide.  It can lead to a range of severe health issues, including anemia, cancer (particularly lymphoma and leukemia), immunosuppression, and other systemic disorders.  The virus is primarily transmitted through saliva and urine, often via mutual grooming, shared litter boxes, food dishes, or bite wounds.  Kittens are especially vulnerable, and transmission from an infected mother to her kittens during pregnancy or nursing is a major route of infection.

Diagnosis typically begins with a point-of-care (POC) ELISA test that detects FeLV antigen (p27) in blood, serum, or plasma.  A positive result should be confirmed with follow-up testing, such as an IFA (immunofluorescent antibody) assay or PCR, to distinguish between abortive, regressive, and progressive infections.  Cats with positive IFA results are considered to have progressive infection and are almost always persistently viremic, with a high risk of developing FeLV-related disease.

While there is no cure for FeLV, infected cats can live for years with proper care, including strict indoor living, regular veterinary check-ups (every 6 months), a balanced diet, stress reduction, and prevention of secondary infections.  Vaccination is available and recommended for kittens and high-risk cats, though it does not treat existing infections. The 2020 AAFP Feline Retrovirus Testing and Management Guidelines emphasize testing all cats at risk and managing infected cats to improve quality of life and prevent transmission.”

    1. Just The News: “President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued stark warnings to Iran Monday that the “hardest hits” in its new conflict in the region is still to come if it does not agree to end its nuclear program.

The United States and Israel launched missiles at Iran over the weekend, which resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini. Iran has since retaliated by targeting Israel and U.S. bases in several Middle Eastern countries.

Trump told CNN that he thinks the U.S. side of the conflict is “going very well,” and warned Iran that bigger hits could still be coming. “We’re knocking the crap out of them,” Trump said. “We’ve got the greatest military in the world and we’re using it … We haven’t even started hitting them hard. The big wave hasn’t even happened. The big one is coming soon.”

The president also commented that the U.S. was ahead of schedule in the amount of damage it has caused Iran, but that he anticipates the attacks will last approximately one month.

Rubio echoed the president’s comment, stating that the next phase of U.S. attacks on Iran will be “more punishing” than the ones they have dealt it so far. “The hardest hits are yet to come from the U.S. military. The next phase will be even more punishing on Iran than it is right now,” Rubio told reporters. “The objectives of this operation are to destroy their ballistic missile capability and make sure they can’t rebuild it, and make sure that they can’t hide behind that to have a nuclear program.”

The State Department has urged Americans currently in the Middle East to leave their respective countries in light of the escalating conflict.”

  2. Good morning, Pat!

I could barely see the fuzzy moon, then the clouds deepened. Temps in the 30s to start the day.

Love the recipe today. (but too much work for this gal!)

Tuesday is my “paperwork” day. I too will be working on taxes.

God bless, have a great day. And thanks.

    1. Morning, Gina! So you must not be retired then…..taxes just suck, pure and simple! I don’t make enough on SS to require any taxes, thankfully, and I have a homestead exemption for property taxes for the same reason. Are you married, Gina? Any kiddos?

      1. Yes, I’m retired. I don’t get that much in SS, but I have an annuity that needs to be reported, and of course my meager interest income. State taxwise, I own my home (homestead exemption) but still pay property taxes. Filing state taxes gives me a rebate from state for about a grand.

        (other answers coming shortly 😘 . . . )

        God bless 🙏 and thanks.

            1. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Joseph Miller, who left this world on February 24, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on September 17, 1959, in Muskegon, MI, Paul was a cherished son of Gary and Linda (Corinti) Miller. A Fruitport High School graduate from the class of 1977, he carried a spirit of adventure and kindness that touched everyone he met.

Paul’s journey included proudly serving during the Cold War Era in the United States Air Force as a Sergent and aircraft armament specialist. He dedicated four years of his life to his country, stationed in New York and then in the reserves for a total of 9 years. After his honorable service, he enhanced his skills by earning an associate degree at a technical school in Texas. Paul subsequently embarked on a fulfilling career in construction, establishing himself as a talented contractor and handyman through his company, Muskegon Compassionate Care. He was notable for his pioneering efforts in the medical cannabis field, ahead of his time in understanding its potential benefits.

Spending time on the porch along the Muskegon River with his dogs, Spike and Lucy, was more than a hobby, but a lifestyle. An avid lover of the outdoors, Paul cherished moments spent fishing for steelhead, bass, and walleye from his riverboat, and relished the thrill of deer hunting. Paul, a.k.a “Snake”, was a true motorcycle enthusiast. He was instrumental in the founding of Bike Time, contributing his passion and energy to its original organizing committee. He was the kind of person who could raise a house and install a basement, and then show up the next day to help a friend do the same.

Paul’s faith journey took a significant turn in the mid-1990s, when he accepted Christ as his Lord Savior. A nontraditional but sincere believer, he lived out his faith through quiet acts of generosity, leaving a profound impact on many lives. His family and friends will remember him as generous, quiet and caring, and a bit of a rebel.

Paul is survived by his devoted mother, Linda (Paul Bristow) Corinti-Bristow; brothers Glen Miller, Gary (Shelley) Miller, Jeff (Pam) Miller, Ernie (Laura DeMint) Miller; sisters JoKathryn Miller, Christine Ann Miller-Paulson, and Tammy Sue Miller; along with 22 loving nieces and nephews. His father, Gary Miller, preceded him in death. Paul’s legacy will live on through the countless hearts he touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home in Muskegon. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home to share memories and honor Paul’s incredible life.

Steve Witkoff: Let me say this, because I forgot this small little detail.

In that first meeting, both the Iranian negotiators said to us directly, with no shame, that they controlled 460 kilograms of 60% and they’re aware that that could make 11 nuclear bombs, and that was the beginning of their negotiating stance.

So that’s – they were proud of it.

They were proud that they had evaded all sorts of oversight protocols to get to a place where they could deliver 11 nuclear bombs.

      1. “White House Correspondents’ Dinner is typically not televised live in full, as it is considered a private event for journalists, politicians, and guests. However, portions of the dinner, especially the President’s remarks and the comedian’s speech, are widely covered and broadcast live by major news networks.

Broadcast Coverage includes live streams and coverage from outlets such as C-SPAN, CNN, MSNBC, NBC News, CBS News, and ABC News. These networks often provide real-time commentary and highlight reels. Additionally, YouTube and network-specific platforms like Peacock and Paramount+ offer live streaming options, making the event accessible to a broad audience.

Recent developments indicate that C-SPAN will carry coverage of the 2026 dinner, continuing its tradition of gavel-to-gavel broadcasting. Despite President Trump skipping the event during his first term, he has announced plans to attend the 2026 dinner as the honoree, marking his first appearance since taking office. “

  7. (The Center Square) – “The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of plaintiffs in a lawsuit against a California law that allowed public schools to conceal a student’s “gender transitions” from their parents, a policy SCOTUS ruled likely violates the First and Fourteenth amendments.

The lawsuit filed by the Thomas More Society in 2023 when two Escondido teachers sued the Escondido Unified School District in San Diego County, the California Department of Education and Attorney General Rob Bonta, after they were denied a religious accommodation from school policies that required staff to use students’ preferred pronouns and, upon request.

However, it also required the teachers to withhold information about a child’s gender identity from parents.

The state of California managed to pause a permanent injunction via the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. In response, the Thomas More Society filed an emergency application with the U.S. Supreme Court, requesting intervention in the lawsuit.

According to the SCOTUS ruling, the parents of a student who later joined in the lawsuit were not told by educators when their daughter began to identify as a boy and use a male name. It was only after she attempted suicide and was hospitalized that the parents were told by doctors she was identifying as a boy at school.

In its 6-3 ruling, SCOTUS’s majority opinion concluded that “the State argues that its policies advance a compelling interest in student safety and privacy. But those policies cut out the primary protectors of children’s best interests: their parents. The parents who object to the California policies on free exercise grounds are likely to succeed on the merits. The same is true for the subclass of parents who object to those policies on due process grounds.”

In a press release statement, Thomas More Society Special Counsel Paul M. Jonna wrote that “this is a watershed moment for parental rights in America. “The Supreme Court has told California and every state in the nation in no uncertain terms: you cannot secretly transition a child behind a parent’s back. The Court’s landmark reaffirmation of substantive due process, its vindication of religious liberty, and its approval of class-wide relief together set a historic precedent that will dismantle secret gender transition policies across the country.”

Similar laws in Washington state have been legally challenged and upheld by the 9th Circuit.”

“Attorney General Ken Paxton Issues Landmark Legal Opinion Declaring It Illegal for Mental Health Providers to “Transition” Texas Kids”

Attorney General Ken Paxton has issued a legal opinion declaring that the prohibitions under S.B. 14 making it illegal for health care providers to “transition” kids does apply to “mental health care providers” licensed by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.

The opinion notes that the Council’s licensees constitute health care providers under the law, which makes clear that they are governed by state law barring funds going to those who facilitate the prohibited “transition” procedures. Licensees are defined as “health care providers” in this sense for good reason, as the path to kids being “transitioned” often starts with unethical indoctrination by activists providing mental “health care” designed to confuse children about their gender.

Thus, the Legislature’s prohibition on those unlawfully “transitioning” our kids—which covers not only any person or entity who “provides” medical interventions, but also an individual or entity who “facilitates” medical interventions—certainly applies to licensed mental health care providers.

“Any radical facilitating the ‘transitioning’ of our kids is committing child abuse,” said Attorney General Paxton. “The law is clear that these radical procedures are illegal and in no world should Texans’ tax dollars be used to permanently harm children. This opinion should send a clear warning there will be consequences for any medical professional, whether a doctor or a therapist, who is illegally ‘transitioning’ Texas kids.”

The opinion’s summary states: “Any licensee that facilitates the provision of unlawful procedures or treatments that aim to transition a child’s sex are thus forbidden from receiving public money in support of those efforts and, separately, risk revocation of their licenses to practice.”

  9. Just The News: “Montana GOP Rep. Ryan Zinke announced Monday that he will not be seeking another term in office this November, citing health issues from his time as a Navy SEAL as the main motivator. The announcement makes Zinke the latest House Republican to opt out of seeking reelection. At least 32 Republicans and 21 Democrats have announced plans to leave Congress after the midterm elections.

“I have made the decision to leave office at the end of my fourth term and not seek re-election,” Zinke said in a letter. “I do not take this decision lightly and have informed President Trump, the Governor, and senior leadership of this difficult but necessary decision.

Zinke has represented Montana in Congress since 2015, but paused briefly to serve as President Donald Trump’s Interior secretary during the president’s first term in office. The lawmaker said he has been experiencing health issues since his time in the Navy and that he cannot put off treatment any longer. He also noted that he would risk missing important votes if he remained in Congress and still underwent treatment.

“While my belief in term limits for elected office is a consideration, I have quietly undergone multiple surgeries since I returned to Congress and unfortunately face several more immediately after leaving office,” he said. “The injuries sustained from a career in Special Operations are not immediately life-threatening, but the repair cannot be deferred any longer and recovery will require considerable time with my wife Lola and my family.”

Zinke has endorsed Montana conservative radio talk show host Aaron Flint to replace him in the House, touting the combat veteran as “the next generation of leadership Montana needs.”

“When our country needed him after the September 11th terrorist attacks, Aaron raised his hand to serve,” Zinke posted from his personal X account. “Now when Montana needs him again, he’s ready to serve. He has my complete and total endorsement!”

Pension systems are increasingly reliant on investment returns to close the gap. In 2012, America’s public pension system reached a demographic tipping point: retirees began to outnumber the active workers funding them.

More than a decade later, that reversal remains in place. As Americans live longer and public workforce growth slows, pension systems are paying out more in benefits than they collect from contributors, increasing their reliance on investment returns to stay funded. Just The News: “The U.S. military is launching one-way, Iran-style attack drones in its air attack on Iran. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth issued a July memo on “Unleashing U.S. Military Drone Dominance” – which set the stage for the use of the no-return drones less than a year later, in what the Pentagon is calling “Operation Epic Fury.”

The U.S. and the Israelis launched a joint attack early Saturday morning against Tehran, killing Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei and degrading the Iranian military. U.S. Central Command in announcing the joint effort, also announced its debut of the one-way drones. “The first hours of the operation included precision munitions launched from air, land, and sea,” the U.S. military said. “Additionally, CENTCOM’s Task Force Scorpion Strike employed low-cost one-way attack drones for the first time in combat.”

CENTCOM  also said the low-cost drones are modeled after Iran’s Shahed drones, are now delivering American-made retribution.”

The Military Times reported that the Low-cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS) drone platform “is a one-way attack drone reverse-engineered after the Iranian Shahed-136.” The news outlet also said they are built by Arizona-based SpektreWorks and can be launched by catapults, rocket-assisted takeoffs and mobile ground systems.

Their maximum reportedly weighs about180 pounds, significantly lighter than the Iranian Shahed and cost about $35,000 per unit.

“Drones are the biggest battlefield innovation in a generation, accounting for most of this year’s casualties in Ukraine. Our adversaries collectively produce millions of cheap drones each year,” Hegseth said in a memo last summer. “While global military drone production skyrocketed over the last three years, the previous administration deployed red tape. U.S. units are not outfitted with the lethal small drones the modern battlefield requires.”

When addressing Greenland’s strategic value within U.S. Arctic defense efforts, President Trump argued that although the European Union and NATO insisted there was no need for American control —promising instead to marshal their combined military strength to defend the territory— he remained skeptical of their assurances. Trump’s remarks were met with swift shock and visible dismay. Pearls were clutched and jaws stood agape.

However, it only took a few weeks for a moment of clarity to surface following the Israeli/U.S. decision to strike Iran and eliminate the long-standing nuclear threat. Suddenly Great Britain and Spain tell the U.S. they will not allow American military use of their joint airbases. Once, again President Trump’s lack of trust in NATO proved correct.

  18. so Minnesota is still not complying with MANDATORY checks on child services…STOP THE FUNDING!

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has revealed that the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) failed to adequately verify attendance records or pursue fraud tips in its Child Care Assistance Program. Findings from an oversight visit conducted on January 22-23, as revealed in a letter published on March 2, contend that the state agency lacked sufficient staff and resources to combat fraud effectively, with only four investigators assigned to address potential violations.

Concerningly, Laurie Todd-Smith, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Early Childhood Development at HHS, found that Minnesota’s DCYF “[l]imited staff and resources… to adequately pursue fraud tips and conduct proactive investigations.” Additionally, the Assistant Secretary noted, “Minnesota did not demonstrate that they are currently implementing required program integrity training for providers across the state.” This suggests that Governor Tim Walz (D) and other state officials have taken no proactive steps—despite their public claims—to curb ongoing social services fraud in the state, and have raised concerns about the misuse of federal funds, as child care centers could receive payments without reconciling billed hours against attendance records.

Todd-Smith also stated in the letter that Minnesota lacked a mandatory statewide process for reviewing and acting on county-level single audits. She also highlighted that the state had not conducted necessary “onsite visits” to ensure compliance, a requirement emphasized in previous federal audits. The Trump administration previously flagged concerns about fraud in Minnesota’s child care programs, with President Donald J. Trump alleging that as much as $19 billion in federal funds may have been misappropriated.

Minnesota received $184.9 million in taxpayer funding for youth services in fiscal year 2025. HHS has warned that these funds could be withheld unless the state provides attendance and inspection records within 60 days.

Deep State assets around the globe are being exterminated. Iran and her proxies destabilizing the Middle East, are being purged. The South/Central American cartels destabilizing the Western Hemisphere, are being purged. Then eventually, the corrupt politicians who allowed all this to happen and profited off of humanity’s suffering, will also be purged.

By the time Trump leaves office, all global Deep State tentacles will be uprooted and removed, and the future will be safeguarded so that this never happens again.

  22. Just The News: “The Dubai media office confirmed Tuesday that a fire broke out at the United States consulate, which was caused by a  drone-related incident, and no injuries have been reported from the fire as conflict rages in the Middle East.

Conflict broke out between Israel, the United States and Iran over the weekend after the U.S. and Israel launched missiles at Iran. Iran has since retaliated by hitting Israel and several American bases in other countries throughout the region.

“Dubai authorities have confirmed that a fire resulting from a drone-related incident near the US Consulate has been successfully contained,” Dubai said on X. “Emergency teams responded immediately. No injuries have been reported.”

The media office added in a separate post that the fire has since been extinguished with no injuries reported. “Dubai authorities reaffirm their commitment to ensuring everyone’s safety and security,” the office added.

The news comes as multiple Middle Eastern countries have been pulled into the conflict recently, including Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The State Department has ordered Americans to evacuate Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel and Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.”

    1. JUST IN: Fox News’ Bill Melugin just EMBARRASSED Hakeem Jeffries, point-blank confronting him about how it was apparently OK — according to Nancy Pelosi — for Obama to bomb Libya with no Congressional approval

He got FLUSTERED and Bill came with the FACTS! https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/1f525.svg

MELUGIN: Pelosi in 2011 said he didn’t need approval…now Democrats say Trump does. What’s different?

JEFFRIES: Libya was different…I don’t understand the basis of your question, you’re not asking it in good faith.

MELUGIN: Libya went on for 7 MONTHS.

BRUTAL, HAKEEM! @BillMelugin_ just exposed your HYPOCRISY!
