These Carrot Cake Muffins sound yummy!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups grated carrots (about 2 medium carrots)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1/4 cup raisins (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In another bowl, beat the egg with the brown sugar and oil until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
Fold in the grated carrots, walnuts, and raisins (if using).
Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy!

Just The News: “The Pentagon quietly released its latest National Defense Strategy on Friday night, which places defending the homeland as the War Department’s number one priority above the Indo-Pacific.
The priority is a change from President Donald Trump’s first administration in 2018, which labeled China as a serious challenger in an era of “great power competition,” and the focus on China was supported by the Biden administration in 2022.
The National Defense Strategy document is considered a foundational document for the Pentagon and explains how the Defense Department will follow the guidance of the National Security Strategy, according to Breaking Defense.
“As President Trump has said, the U.S. military’s foremost priority is to defend the U.S. Homeland,” the document reads. “The Department will therefore prioritize doing just that, including by defending America’s interests throughout the Western Hemisphere.”
The new document still prioritizes deterring China in the Indo-Pacific region, but through strength instead of confrontation, and it comes after defending the homeland. The report also said the U.S. will increase burden-sharing with U.S. Allies and Supercharge the U.S. Defense Industrial Base.
The report comes weeks after the department released its National Security Strategy, which also focused more on protecting the Western Hemisphere, including by protecting the U.S. borders and countering narcoterrorism.
“After years of neglect, the United States will restore US military dominance in the Western Hemisphere,” War Secretary Pete Hegseth told the Reagan Defense Forum last month. “Past administrations perpetuated the belief that the Monroe Doctrine had expired. They were wrong. The Monroe Doctrine is in effect, and it is stronger than ever.”
The NDS says that the top four priorities for the Pentagon, are:
“Supercharge” the US Defense industrial base
Defend the US homeland
Deter China in the Indo-Pacific “through strength, not confrontation”
Increase burden-sharing with US allies and partners

WOW 🚨 Swing State Wisconsin voter rolls show they have 7.14 million people registered to vote but only 4 million adults that live in the state
Again, Wisconsin HAS ALMOST TWICE as many registered voters vs adults who live there
“We only have 4 million adults in the state of Wisconsin. We’re approaching, in the 7.13 million number on the voter rolls, that grows almost daily. It never ends. It never rarely goes down — It’s the highest that I’ve ever seen. It’s even worse than this because there’s the 4.4 million adults in Wisconsin, not all of them registered, not all of them vote. We’re really down around about 3.6 million, 3.7 million.”
So what he’s saying is only about 3.7 million people are registered voters but they have 7.13 million registered voters

EXCERPT: “In what is considered a landmark win for parental rights and free speech, a federal jury found that officials from Marlin Independent School District, outside of Waco, unlawfully retaliated against parents who publicly complained about the district and violated their constitutional rights.
Five plaintiffs were awarded more than $7.5 million in damages, including $4 million in punitive damages against Marlin ISD’s former superintendent, Dr. Darryl Henson, and Marlin ISD’s Chief of Police John Simmons.
The unanimous verdict came after the district was taken over by the state in 2017. Henson was hired during the state take over. In 2022, the district improved its accountability rating for the first time in 10 years with 28% of student being at grade level. By 2024, grades had improved and a transition began with the state takeover slated to end Jan. 31, 2026.
The lawsuit was filed by the Pacific Justice Institute on behalf of parents Monica Johnson, Clifford and Brandolyn Jones and their children, Praiyer and Addai Jones.
The lawsuit stems from Henson delaying a May 2023 high school graduation, claiming only five seniors were eligible to graduate. The Joneses and their son publicly criticized the decision; Brandolyn Johnson created a petition calling for Henson’s removal.
A series of events ensued, including Johnson being removed from a public meeting; the district issuing a criminal trespass warning barring her from all Marlin ISD property; lowering Praiyer’s and Addai’s grades after the school year ended; and prohibiting Johnson’s daughter, Class of 2023 valedictorian Me’Kia Mouling, from delivering her valedictorian speech at the postponed graduation, PJI said……”

Just The News: “The FBI is investigating the death of former Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, according to a report. The bureau is also investigating the recovery doctor who provided Irsay with prescription pain pills and ketamine in the last months of his life, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post and two sources.
Irsay died in May while vacationing at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. He was 65.
The Post reviewed a federal grand jury subpoena that showed the FBI is seeking records and information relating to Irsay’s death, his “substance (illegal and prescription) use,” and his “relationship with Dr. Harry Haroutunian,” a prominent addiction specialist based in California.
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles issued the subpoena earlier this month. Federal agents visited Indianapolis for several days over the past few weeks, according to two anonymous sources, and interviewed multiple people who were close to Irsay over the final years of his life.
A spokeswoman for the FBI’s Los Angeles field office did not immediately reply to the Post’s request for comment Thursday. The Beverly Hills Police Department, which initially investigated Irsay’s death, has not been contacted by the FBI, according to a department spokesman.
Colts Chief Legal Officer Dan Emerson told the Post on Thursday that the team is aware of the investigation but has not been served with a subpoena or contacted by the FBI. “I do understand that there have been some subpoenas provided, but not to me, the Colts or any of our current employees,” Emerson said, declining to comment further.
Haroutunian did not respond to the Post’s requests for comment. The recovery doctor was staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel and overseeing the treatment of the former National Football League coach. He signed Irsay’s death certificate, which stated that the cause was cardiac arrest caused by pneumonia and heart issues. There was no autopsy, and Beverly Hills police closed their investigation into the death days later.
The Post reported in August that Irsay, who had publicly claimed to have kicked his addiction to pain pills, had secretly relapsed and was receiving opioid pills and ketamine injections in the final months of his life from Haroutunian in amounts that alarmed several people close to him.”

new brief filed in birthright citizenship case focuses on the HISTORICAL view
FTA
Legal briefs are flying back and forth, and Team Trump just challenged the entire narrative head-on with a bombshell nobody saw coming, not even the legal nerds.
In a newly filed brief at the Supreme Court, the Trump admin. isn’t arguing politics or modern talking points, like so many experts thought they would. No, they’re doing something much more powerful. They’re arguing history. And once you see what they put on the record, it’ll be clear to you why this entire “birthright” debate has been shut down for so long.
What Team Trump put in front of the Supreme Court of the United States was a very long paper trail showing how birthright citizenship has been understood for decades after the 14th Amendment was ratified.
And the catch is big. Because that understanding looks nothing like the version we’re living with today.
The 14th Amendment doesn’t say that anyone born on US soil is automatically a citizen. It says citizenship applies to those born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof.
That second part is the key…
Being “subject to the jurisdiction” didn’t just mean being physically here. It meant a lot more. It meant allegiance and being fully under US authority… not just temporarily hanging out on a layover while having loyalty to another country.
According to the historical record laid out in the brief, legal scholars, judges, and commentators from the late 1800s into the early 1900s said the same thing over and over: children born to parents who were only temporarily in the United States were not automatically citizens. That means tourists, travelers, and foreign nationals just passing through were not treated as citizens by default.
And this wasn’t some random, fringe interpretation. It shows up again and again in popular legal writings from that time. The widely accepted assumption was that citizenship meant being an actual part of the American political community, not just your geographical location at the time of birth.
That’s the part most Americans were never told, but now, it’s about to be front-page news.

Just The News: “California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday that the Golden State will remain a part of the World Health Organization’s network, even though the Trump administration just completed the United States’ withdrawal from the WHO. Newsom made the announcement after meeting with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this week.
The governor said California is now the first and only state to join WHO’s Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network, which is tasked with rapidly detecting, verifying, assessing, and responding to emerging public health threats.
“The Trump administration’s withdrawal from WHO is a reckless decision that will hurt all Californians and Americans,” Newsom said in a statement. “California will not bear witness to the chaos this decision will bring. We will continue to foster partnerships across the globe and remain at the forefront of public health preparedness.”
The Department of Health and Human Services and the State Department confirmed Thursday that the U.S. completed its withdrawal from the WHO over its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, which comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that began the process last year.
Tedros slammed Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. from the global health coalition, claiming the decision put the organization and U.S. in a “lose-lose” situation.
“It’s not really the right decision, I want to say bluntly, because I believe that there are many things that are done through WHO that benefits the U.S., and only the WHO does, and especially the health security issues,” he told The Hill. “That’s why I say the U.S. cannot be safe without working with the WHO.”

Just The News: “A powerful winter storm is sweeping across the United States, bringing snow, ice and frigid temperatures and prompting authorities to warn of dangerous travel conditions and possible power outages. Governors in many states declared a state of emergency in advance of the storm.
The system, which began spreading across northwest Texas and Oklahoma on Friday, is the first in a series of storm fronts expected to impact a large portion of the nation through the weekend and into early next week. From Texas through the South and up into the Northeast, forecasters have issued a wide array of winter storm warnings, placing more than 140 million people under alerts for heavy snow, ice accumulation and extreme cold.
Officials said the storm’s combination of freezing rain and heavy snow could be hazardous for road travel and infrastructure.
So far, more than 9,000 flights have reportedly been canceled due to the major storm.”

“Bad Bunny is reportedly preparing to test the limits of his critics as he embraces the controversy for his Super Bowl halftime show. The Puerto Rican artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, will take to the stage at Levi’s Stadium as the performer for next month’s end-of-season finale in San Francisco – despite fierce opposition.
President Donald Trump was among those to criticize the decision to allow Bad Bunny to perform at Super Bowl LX, leading the backlash from MAGA-leaning NFL fans and conservative commentators due to his criticism of the administration’s immigration policies.
But the outrage hasn’t deterred the international sensation. In fact, it appears to have only fueled the fire as Bad Bunny reportedly intends to push the envelope as far as he can during his performance on February 8. The rapper is intending to honor the ‘queer’ community by wearing a dress during his performance, according to a report from RadarOnline.com.
A stylist involved in the costume fittings for the Puerto Rican’s show reportedly claimed that Bad Bunny ‘loves controversy’ and ‘lives to push envelopes.’
‘He is 100 percent going to wear a dress,’ they said. ‘A political thunderbolt disguised as couture.’ Meanwhile, another inside source told the outlet that the artist allegedly has no intention of playing it safe, adding that the ‘NFL has no idea what’s coming. Zero.’”

“In 452 AD, as Attila the Hun advanced toward Rome after devastating much of northern Italy, panic gripped the city. Attila’s reputation as a ruthless conqueror preceded him, and many feared Rome would suffer the same fate as other cities that had fallen to his forces. With the imperial government in disarray and no military defense strong enough to repel the Huns, the task of confronting Attila fell to an unlikely figure: Pope Leo I.
Pope Leo I, also known as Leo the Great, personally journeyed north to meet Attila near Mantua. The exact details of their conversation remain unknown, but historical accounts suggest Leo’s presence, combined with diplomatic pressure and possibly a hefty bribe from the Western Roman Empire, persuaded Attila to turn back. Some sources also speculate that Attila may have been influenced by superstitions or omens, or that his army was weakened by disease and supply issues.
Regardless of the true reason, Attila’s withdrawal was seen as a miraculous deliverance for Rome. Pope Leo’s intervention elevated his status as a spiritual and political leader, reinforcing the growing power of the papacy in a crumbling empire.”

freakin’ judges again
article
A federal judge issued one of the most reckless judgments of recent years late Thursday, essentially granting leftist nonprofits final approval authority over Trump administration deportation orders affecting their members. U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young, 85, ruled that the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) have continually had their members’ First Amendment rights violated by federal officials by being targeted for deportation over their support of Hamas or similar terrorist groups. Further, as remediation, Judge Young barred the federal government from deporting AAUP and MESA members without the groups’ permission and final approval by a federal judge.
“This Court ruled that the Plaintiffs American Association of University Professors (‘AAUP’) and their associate chapters, and the Middle East Studies Association (‘MESA’) have shown by clear and convincing evidence that Secretaries [Kristi] Noem and [Marco] Rubio have intentionally and in concert implemented Executive Orders in 14161 and 14188 a viewpoint-discriminatory way to chill protected speech that ‘violated the First Amendment,’” the judge wrote.
Young goes on to say, “Any non-citizen member of the plaintiffs AAUP or MESA, who was a member on or after March 25, 2025, and continued as a member through September 30, 2025, shall have a right to institute a proceeding (‘Sanction Action’) in the United States District Court…”
While Judge Young’s ruling is unlikely to stand on appeal, it marks one of the most radical rulings ever against federal immigration law and the executive branch’s ability to enforce it. Not only does Young ignore the jurisdiction of the U.S. Immigration Court system—an error highlighted in a separate case that The National Pulse reported on last week—he makes the drastic move of essentially granting two private nonprofit groups, the AAUP and MESA, veto power over deportation proceedings unless a federal district court judge approves the deportation.

The decision, unsealed Saturday by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, came after the Justice Department asked the appeals court to overrule a Minnesota magistrate judge who refused to approve multiple arrest warrants related to the protest.
The protest took place Sunday inside Cities Church in St. Paul after demonstrators against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) entered the building when they believed an ICE official was one of the church’s pastors.”

Now that Mom is feeling better, she is getting obstinate and is bucking heads with Mandy, who has her power of attorney. Or so Mom claims but that has to be taken with a grain of salt – she definitely exaggerates and leaves out pertinent details! Sis has pretty much washed her hands of the whole deal! Fire crews were already responding to reports of a strong gas odor on the 15th and 16th floors when the explosion occurred, according to New York Fire Department Chief of Department John Esposito. Firefighters found extensive structural damage affecting roughly a dozen apartments and active fires in units near the top of the building.
One person died in the incident, but officials did not immediately release their identity, the Associated Press reported. Among the injured, one individual was in critical condition, five were seriously hurt, and eight others sustained minor injuries.”
