I happen to LOVE peeps, but I know that I am probably in the minority…lol. I found an article sympathizing with those who do not share my love of peeps detailing things to do with them.
From: Symplistically Living:
Got Peeps? First off, I’m sorry and secondly, if you don’t enjoy Peeps there are several things to do with Peeps besides eat them and we’ve got the list to prove it.
Throw them in the trash

Peep Bouquet

Make a Peeps Easter Wreath

Make a Tealight Vase

In cognito Peep (Dress them Up!)

Make a Peeps Dress

Make Marshmallow Peeps Play Dough

Make a Cigarette Holder

Make Peeps Jewelry

Now, if you really want to get creative with Peeps leave them out for a few days to harden and you can use them for all sorts of things like:
A door stop
A paperweight
A pin cushion

Use them as a squishy (can you say, stress reliever?)
Use them as Cornhole game pieces
Make puppets on sticks with them
Microwave them for a fun experiment

Decorate your mantel with them
Make a Keychain out of them (it’d be hard to lose your keys after this)
Use them as garden markers (use sharpies to write on them)
Use them as land markers while hiking
Use a bunch of them as balloon weights
Use them to teach your kids math

Put them in the bath and see if they sink or float (experiment)
Use them as packing material instead of packing peanuts
Make bookmarks (attach them to the end of a popsicle stick)
Freeze them and use as an ice pack
Pencil top decoration (glue them onto the end of a pencil)
Make Peeps Race Cars

Bacon in NE
article
Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE) is pushing legislation to strip President Trump of his tariff authority, a move that directly undermines Trump’s economic strategy, which has shown tangible results.
Trump’s tariffs have contributed to a 53% approval rating, with inflation dropping to 1.4%, 228,000 jobs created, and 50 countries seeking trade negotiations. But the real benefits will come in the future when more trade deals are reached that benefit America and subvert the globalists.
Bacon’s proposal contradicts the economic momentum Trump has built, as tariffs have been a key tool in pressuring nations like China, which retaliated with higher tariffs after “Liberation Day” last week.
By targeting Trump’s tariff powers, Bacon is ignoring the constitutional precedent that has granted presidents broad tariff authority since the 20th century, as noted by the Congressional Research Service in a Constitution Center report.
Bacon’s stance aligns him with establishment figures who have historically opposed Trump, including former Vice President Mike Pence. Bacon’s actions risk alienating Nebraska voters, who supported Trump’s policies, with X users like Nick Sortor and Gunther Eagleman calling for a primary challenge in 2026, labeling Bacon a “RINO” and a “POS.”
The congressman’s history of defying Trump, including surviving a primary challenge from conservative Dan Frei in 2024 despite Trump’s push for an opponent, shows a pattern of prioritizing personal agenda over national loyalty.

“President Trump’s Five-Front Game of Chicken: The stakes are higher than they’ve ever been for our trade relationships across the globe. The odds seemed stacked against President Trump. Can he pull it off for America?”
JD Rucker, Apr 07, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: The effects of President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” moves are starting to be felt. The aftermath of the announcement itself is already making a huge impact across the globe and we’re only in the initial phase of tariffs being rolled out. Around fifty nations had contacted the White House by the weekend and a handful of deals have already been been proposed. Meanwhile, the stock market is crashing and legacy media is giddy over it all.
Now, the hard part begins.
As he noted Monday on Truth Social:
The Trump administration is playing multiple games of chicken. In these game of chicken, there are four possible outcomes.
On paper, the odds seemed stacked against him because he needs to get all five opponents to back down in order to claim full victory. In reality, President Trump and America can come out on top if the victories and “draws” (which mean both sides get some of what they want) are more impactful than any defeats.
Here are the five opponents, in no particular order, playing chicken against President Trump right now:
The keys to victory for America in the so-called “trade wars” are a steady hand and a resolute stance. Wall Street will do whatever is in its best interests, which means that a handful of wins for the President could turn the market around quickly. Corporate America will fume but they’ll get over it. China and Europe are wildcards.
It’s the UniParty Swamp that poses the biggest immediate threat because they can drive sentiment with moves that make it look like they can reverse President Trump’s tariffs. If Wall Street, the American public, and the world believe Congress can put an end to President Trump’s maneuvers against his will, they will prolong the pain that is going to be felt.
President Trump said Sunday, “Sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something.”
Short-term financial impacts from the tariffs are the medicine of which he speaks. I hate using graphic visuals to make a point but if we stay with President Trump’s analogy, then what the UniParty Swamp is trying to do is to make America “purge” the medicine before it can take effect.
It is possible that Rep. Bacon and his RINO allies can get tariff clawback legislation passed, forcing President Trump to veto it. But even if they cannot take back the power to reverse the tariffs, they’ll be sending a message of disunity that will give the other four groups playing chicken against President Trump the excuse to keep going.Upgrade to paid
The UniParty Swamp knows this. They WANT President Trump to fail. They NEED him to fail to benefit themselves, their portfolios, and most importantly the anti-American interests that control them. This is why it’s extremely important that Americans let Bacon, Grassley, and the others know that we support the President’s plan and we want him to see it all the way through. Only then can we defeat the globalists; I noted in a recent segment of my show that they’re the real targets of all this.”

Just The News: “House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has come to agreement with Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., regarding proxy voting for new parents, according to a report from The Hill citing sources.
Proxy voting for new parents locked the House floor last week and led to a cancellation of votes until Monday.
The agreement reportedly involves “vote pairing,” which would allow a lawmaker who misses votes due to the birth of a child to coordinate with another lawmaker planning to vote opposite their position. The lawmaker voting opposite of their position would have to be willing to abstain from voting to cancel out the absent lawmakers’ vote.
Luna has reportedly agreed not to move forward with her discharge petition as a result of the new agreement.”

Trump Says He Got ‘Pretty Close’ To A TikTok Deal With China, But Beijing U-Turned Because Of His 54% Tariffs
Our Take: As this news hit the social sphere over the weekend, concerns about TikTok going dark again reigned.
I don’t use TikTok, but I know it’s the social app of choice for the kids, and it enjoys high adoption in the US. As such, social media was filled with support for TikTok and anecdotal claims of its superiority as a platform (specifically for independent creators).
The takeaway is that TikTok is a valuable asset. Trump’s rhetoric about this current battle acknowledges that fact. Of course, it comes down to who controls the code. The code is Beijing’s greatest leverage, and the code is everything – access to the minds of the children of the world. Against that backdrop, President Trump seems optimistic about a deal.

US Nears Critical Minerals Deal with DR Congo in Bid to Counter Chinese Influence
Our Take: The WEF regime tried to use proxy terrorist groups to destabilize the DR Congo and reclaim control of the rare earth minerals they lost due to Trump’s Executive Order 13818 (targeting Israeli oligarch Dan Gertler) which was signed in December 2017.
Now because of those efforts, Trump will end up claiming at least some of those rare earth minerals (estimates are that DRC has $24T in the soil) for the USA.

Chinese Woman Detained for Expired Visa Dies By Suicide at Border Patrol Station in Arizona
Our Take: Death is sad. This woman died by her own hands, and there isn’t any indication that she left a note or any details of her intent; but no one denies that her death was her choice.
That didn’t stop political hacks from politicizing her decision to end her own life.
“As the CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) investigates this death, they must provide answers on why these welfare checks were not conducted and falsely recorded, and why this woman was able to die by suicide without any guard intervention,” Jayapal said in a statement.
Isn’t Rep Jayapal from the party of all the choices? Why is this choice any of the government’s business? These guys rallied this weekend, in part, for hands off healthcare – and healthcare includes intentionally-life-ending care for eugenicists like Jayapal.
So why would she be calling for “guard intervention”? Isn’t that infringing upon the illegal Chinese lady’s medical choice? If they didn’t have inconsistent standards, they’d have no standards at all. – Ashe in America

FAKE NEWS!!!
On Friday, The Gateway Pundit posted an article about a claim made in an article by The New York Times regarding the appointment of former Section Chief of Domestic Terrorism Operations Section (DTOS) as the Assistant Director in Charge of the Washington Field Office (WFO). Initially, we called the move “head-scratching” because of Jensen’s involvement, not just in the January 6th prosecutions, but as the DTOS Chief, all of the investigations that ensued under the guise of “domestic terrorism” under the Biden Administration. The morning following the publication, The Gateway Pundit shared the story with a high-level source who replied, “Fake News.” This source would absolutely have knowledge of the appointment. In addition to our source, there was no formal announcement from anyone affiliated with the FBI or the WFO regarding the new ADIC, including a phone call placed to the WFO in which they would not answer but rather transfered us to a switchboard for reporting crimes. For this reason, we determined that this was likely, as our source had stated, “Fake News.”LikeLiked by 1 person

Newsweek: “Top White House trade adviser Peter Navarro claimed on Sunday that billionaire Elon Musk is “simply protecting his own interests” after the Tesla CEO spoke about the administration’s sweeping new tariff policies. Newsweek reached out to Navarro’s office and Musk via email on Sunday for comment.
Why It Matters
Musk saw around $11 billion shaved off his wealth in the stock market bloodbath that followed President Donald Trump’s unveiling of tariffs last week, taking his overall losses since the beginning of 2025 to more than $110 billion. That is according to financial data compiled by Bloomberg, which monitors the wealth of the world’s 500 richest people.
Musk, also the CEO of SpaceX, is a close political ally and major funder of Trump, and has been spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) cuts to federal spending.
What To Know
In remarks on Saturday during a video appearance at a congress in Florence for Italy’s right-leaning co-ruling League Party, Musk expressed hope for the Trump administration to ease tariffs against Europe, which faces a 20 percent generic tariff.
“At the end of the day, I hope it’s agreed that both Europe and the United States should move ideally, in my view, to a zero-tariff situation, effectively creating a free trade zone between Europe and North America,” Musk said. He told League Party leader Matteo Salvini that “if people wish to work in Europe or wish to work in North America, they should be allowed to do so in my view. This has certainly been my advice to the president.”
During a Sunday appearance on Fox News, Navarro pointed out that while Teslas are manufactured in Texas factories, “they get a lot of their content from China, Mexico, Japan and Taiwan and elsewhere,” making the company particularly vulnerable to the administration’s new tariff regime.
“Elon when he’s in his DOGE lane is great, but we understand what’s going on here. Elon sells cars. He’s simply protecting his own interests,” Navarro told Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures guest host Jackie DeAngelis.
Navarro’s comments come after Trump implemented what his administration calls “the largest slate of US tariffs in a century” against virtually all countries. The president announced the tariffs during his “Liberation Day” event last Wednesday.
In response to the imposition of tariffs on European Union (EU) steel and aluminum imports, the European Commission has launched swift countermeasures on U.S. imports. In total, the EU countermeasures could therefore apply to U.S. goods exports worth up to €26 billion ($28,494,700,000), matching the economic scope of the U.S. tariffs.
While Musk has been careful about directly criticizing Trump’s tariff push, which forms the core of the president’s second-term economic agenda, he has previously expressed concerns about tariffs.
“I think you need to be careful with tariffs…I deal a lot with supply chain issues like the global automotive supply chain for Tesla is incredibly complex. So, when there are sudden changes in tariffs…it messes everything up,” Musk said in an interview with Joe Rogan late last year.”
Late last month, the billionaire wrote on X about tariffs: “To be clear, this will affect the price of parts in Tesla cars that come from other countries. The cost impact is not trivial.” In a separate post, he wrote that it’s “important to note that Tesla is NOT unscathed here. The tariff impact on Tesla is still significant.”
Musk, who leads DOGE, is working as a special government employee. However, that status is set to expire by the end of next month, amid speculation about his future role.
What People Are Saying
Elon Musk, in a now deleted X, formerly Twitter, post, wrote about Peter Navarro: “He ain’t built s***.”
Peter Navarro cleared up rumors on Sunday that he was involved in a tense relationship with Musk: “There’s no rift here. Look, Elon, he’s got X, he’s got a big microphone. We don’t mind him saying whatever he wants. But, just, the American people need to understand that we understand, what that’s all about, and it’s fine.” He later added: “The reality here is that institutionally, the international trade system is designed to cheat us. They have systematically higher tariffs on us.”
The White House said last month that the U.S. automobile industry: “Has been undermined by excessive imports threatening America’s domestic industrial base and supply chains.”
Mark Williams, a professor of finance at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, previously told Newsweek: “Should Trump’s tariff war trigger a full-fledged recession, demand for any car, whether a Tesla or a Ford, will fall. A tariff war is a high-stakes gamble that our largest trading partners will acquiesce and accept trade terms that help the U.S. but harm them.”
What Happens Next?
Trump and his allies have said there may be some temporary economic “disruption,” but that tariffs will ultimately benefit the U.S. economy and Americans. Trading partners have responded in various ways to the newly imposed tariffs, with some announcing reciprocal measures. Others are holding off or attempting to negotiate with the Trump administration to lower the rates.
The president has insisted that markets will “boom” as a result of his trade war. Posting to Truth Social on Saturday, he wrote: “THIS IS AN ECONOMIC REVOLUTION, AND WE WILL WIN. HANG TOUGH, it won’t be easy, but the end result will be historic. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

A resolution to get rid of Boasberg is on the way. This does not require a 2/3 vote in the Senate, just a simple majority. With the RINOs in CONgress I don’t know if this will work but it’s certainly worth a try.
Excerpts:
Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has filed a resolution to remove U.S. District Court Judge James E. Boasberg for failing to uphold the Constitution’s “good behavior” clause—without requiring the traditional two-thirds Senate vote.
The resolution, submitted in the House of Representatives, alleges Judge Boasberg—currently Chief Judge of the powerful United States District Court for the District of Columbia—knowingly abused his position to interfere with the constitutional authority of President Donald Trump.
We cannot stand by while activist judges who incorrectly believe they have more authority than the duly-elected President of the United States, impose their own political agenda on the American people,” said Congressman Biggs.
“I have cosponsored resolutions to impeach Judge Boasberg. His removal from office via impeachment, however, will undoubtedly be blocked by Democrats in the Senate, since it requires a two-thirds majority. My resolution, on the other hand, asserts, pursuant to Article III, Section 1, that rogue judges may be removed the same way we confirm them—by a simple majority.
“Judge Boasberg abused his judicial authority for political gain and is not in compliance with the constitutional Good Behavior Clause. He must not be permitted to remain in his position. Congress has a duty to fulfill the promises we’ve made to the American people, including defending the President’s authority to enforce our laws.”

“NEW: Bill Maher just conceded what most of the media still won’t say—Trump is one of the most effective politicians of our time. And this wasn’t a throwaway line. Maher meant it.
“Trump is one of the most effective politicians,” Maher told Chris Cuomo. “Whatever you think of the policy and him as a person… just as a politician.”
What won Maher over? Raw authenticity and moments no one else in politics can pull off. Maher continued:
“People are not savvy about issues, but they smell a phony a mile away… and that kind of shit, nobody else does it.”
Then he dropped two jaw-dropping examples where—even as a self-professed Trump critic—he had to give the man credit. The first: “When he did that thing where the guy came in from the Taliban and he said, ‘This is an aerial picture of your house. If during our withdrawal, one American is hurt, just know I know where you live.’”
“I was like, oh can we just play the music now? Because I don’t care it’s Donald Trump and he’s the worst person ever, blah, blah, blah—I F*CKING LOVE THAT!”
The second: “One time they were doing something, something was going on and he said, ‘You know what? When you come after New York, you got to go through me.’ It’s like, oh—hometown boy.”
Maher summed it all up: “You know, he has those moments that no other politician has. And the Democrats have to find that guy.”
But let’s be real: they’ve been searching for years—and they’re still coming up empty.”

American News Wire: “A wanted man may have just earned himself the title of “America’s Dumbest Criminal” after a social media stunt resulted in his arrest.
Devon Bart, 25, was arrested on Friday after taunting police in a series of social media posts that have since been deleted. In one of the reported posts, he said “that if he was going to jail, the authorities would have to find him first.” He posted pictures along with the mocking posts, but law enforcement found the behavior anything but funny.
“We take all warrants and the law very seriously at the Sheriff’s Office,” Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner said in a social media post on the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. “Evading Deputies is not a game — ignoring the law has serious consequences.”
Bart’s attempt at evading the law quickly came to an end, and he was placed under arrest without incident. According to the sheriff’s office, Bart’s warrant was issued in connection with a domestic-related assault.
Social media users had a lot of say about this “criminal mastermind”:

“DC Cop Getting a Pass for Drugs, Guns Should Raise Major Questions”
Bearing Arms, Tom Knighton | 4:30 PM | April 06, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “I’m not anti-cop by any stretch of the imagination. I happen to know for a fact that there are good cops out there. I was raised by one, may he rest in peace. I’ve known plenty in my life. I’ve known a bunch that were on the opposite end of the spectrum, too, though most are somewhere in between the angels and the devils, like most people.
But what bothers me is how police often get preferential treatment on things. Cops often look the other way when one of their fellow officers are driving too fast or roll through a stop sign. Of course, this kind of thing bothers me far more.
Now, let’s break this down. First, I get that the drugs were below the threshold, but in case you don’t have the conversion of grams to ounces handy, it was only short by less than a gram. Maybe it’s just me, but that could be a scale calibration issue. Either way, the law is the law.
But because the law is the law, we have to remember that possession of a firearm by someone who uses drugs–even marijuana, mind you, regardless of state laws on the subject–is a felony.
“Tom, that’s a federal charge. Local cops can’t file those charges unless there’s a corresponding state law.” That is true, and I haven’t bothered to look to see if Maryland has one, which is where Prince George’s County is, has one. But they do have a magazine capacity limit of just 10 rounds. The Draco had a 24-round magazine. They had grounds to charge him.
Except for the fact that he’s a cop and they get special treatment. The laws don’t apply to someone like him as they would to you or me in Prince George’s County. So, they just wrote him a traffic ticket and sent him on his way.
These are the gun control laws that we’re all supposed to follow. These are the laws we’re assured are absolutely essential to keeping us all safe. But they don’t apply to law enforcement officers because they’re better than us. They get different rules because they’re special.
Well, I’m not walking around with marijuana in my vehicle, much less an amount that’s a skooch under the legal limit and trusting my badge to keep me out of trouble. What happened here should raise a lot of questions, including why laws that are supposedly so essential aren’t applied to everyone equally. Unfortunately, no one in Maryland or DC will be interested in asking those.”

“Study finds liberals show less empathy to political opponents than conservatives do” – Mane Kara-Yakoubian, PsyPost, April 3, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “In today’s polarized political landscape, the ability to understand and empathize with those across the aisle has reached concerning lows. New research published in Personality & Social Psychology Bulletin reveals an asymmetry in this empathy deficit: liberals consistently show less empathy toward their conservative peers than vice versa.
President Joe Biden’s inaugural call to “stand in the other person’s shoes” highlighted empathy as crucial for healing national divisions. Yet many people find it hard to feel for political opponents. Empathy—defined as sympathy for and understanding of another’s suffering with the aim of reducing it—is widely seen as essential for improving intergroup relations, but tends to diminish when directed toward those outside one’s political or social group.
James P. Casey and colleagues conducted four preregistered studies examining how political ideology shapes intergroup empathy bias and why such differences arise. The researchers recruited 4,737 participants, roughly evenly split between liberals and conservatives, from online platforms including Prolific, CloudResearch, and MTurk.
Study 1 involved 549 U.S. participants, while Study 2 included 958 U.K. participants. Study 3 and Study 4 sampled 1,372 and 1,874 U.S. participants, respectively, with recruitment spanning both conservative and liberal administrations to account for political context.
In each study, participants read a short scenario describing a person undergoing a mild hardship (e.g., a sprained ankle). The person was identified as politically conservative, liberal, or neutral. Participants then rated their emotional responses using several scales: empathic concern (e.g., sympathy), perspective-taking, empathic intentions (e.g., willingness to help), and empathic avoidance.
Mediating variables included perceptions of the target’s morality, likability, similarity to the self, and, in later studies, the perceived harm caused by the target’s political group. Ingroup political power was also measured to assess whether the party in power influenced empathic responses.
Across all four studies, participants consistently showed lower empathy for political outgroup members than for ingroup or neutral targets. However, this bias was not symmetrical. Liberals exhibited significantly less empathy for conservatives than conservatives showed for liberals. In Study 1, this asymmetry was driven by liberals’ stronger negative judgments of conservatives’ morality and likability. Conservatives’ empathic responses remained relatively stable regardless of the target’s political affiliation.
Study 2 confirmed these findings in the U.K. sample, where British liberals also exhibited stronger empathy bias against conservatives, mediated by perceptions of morality, likability, and similarity. Study 3 demonstrated that even after the shift to a Democratic administration in the U.S., liberals continued to judge conservatives as more harmful and immoral, leading to reduced empathy. Study 4 further validated this pattern with a larger sample, strengthening the evidence for the link between perceived group harm and diminished empathy.
One limitation is that findings rely on hypothetical scenarios rather than real-world interactions, which may limit generalizability of results to real-world political discourse or behavior.
The research, “Empathic Conservatives and Moralizing Liberals: Political Intergroup Empathy Varies by Political Ideology and Is Explained by Moral Judgment,” was authored by James P. Casey, Eric J. Vanman, and Fiona Kate Barlow.”

SMH – leave it to Germany…..they never learn!!!
EXCERPT: “Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has sharply defended the government’s mass deportation of Afghan migrants, branding opponents of the policy as “enemies of Pakistan” and insisting that anyone disrespecting the nation has no right to remain within its borders.
Speaking on Saturday, Asif rejected criticism of the ongoing expulsion campaign, which has already seen hundreds of thousands of Afghans forced back across the border. He argued that critics of the deportations are undermining Pakistan’s national interests, especially amid reports linking Afghan migrants to anti-government protests and security threats.
“Those who disrespect our flag and disregard our country do not deserve to stay here,” Asif declared, as cited by the Khaama Press news agency, vowing that the government would act decisively against both internal and external threats to Pakistan’s stability.
The crackdown, which began in late 2023, follows Islamabad’s claims that Afghan nationals were behind the majority of suicide attacks within Pakistan last year. The government reported that out of 24 such attacks in 2023, 14 were carried out by Afghans. Authorities estimate that more than one-third of the 4.4 million Afghans living in Pakistan are undocumented.
After issuing an ultimatum in October 2023, the government ordered roughly 1.73 million undocumented Afghan nationals to leave the country by Nov. 1 or face arrest and deportation. In the three months following the deadline, over half a million foreign nationals were repatriated, according to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry.
While Pakistan frames the deportations as necessary for national security, human rights groups and international observers have condemned the policy as a violation of humanitarian principles. Many of the Afghan migrants claimed to have fled violence and economic collapse in Afghanistan following the return to power of the Taliban.
European countries, particularly Germany, responded by stepping up efforts to resettle Afghans expelled from Pakistan. The German government admitted to fast-tracking its admissions process, even bypassing extended security checks to expedite arrivals…..”

“An Irish tale of being overrun my migrants: What was supposed to be a temporary refugee solution has turned into a nightmare for one Irish village”
ReMix News Staff, April 07, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The only hotel in the village of Carna on the west coast of Ireland, the Carna Bay Hotel, used to attract hundreds of tourists every summer for weddings, christenings, and other programs. But after the Russian-Ukrainian war broke out, the owner signed a contract with the state in 2022 to temporarily accept Ukrainian refugees, writes Mandiner.
Now a plan calls to permanently use the building to house 84 asylum seekers from all over the world in the center’s 28 rooms. There are not even 180 full-time residents in the town. The U.K.’s Daily Mail reported on this, also citing MMA fighter Conor McGregor for saying the country “potentially losing its Irishness,” with illegal migration “ravaging the country.”
The paper notes that this is an issue for towns across Ireland, with the government spending close 1.5 billion pound on housing asylum seekers in the first none months of 2024. One International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) center even opened in a 300-year-old hotel in Tipperary County.
Carna residents are protesting and feel the government is ignoring their concerns. “Our community is filled with anger. This is the third year and they still call this temporary?” Maedhbh Ní Ghaora told Daily Mail. “Tourists don’t stop here anymore. There’s no point. The hotel was the center, without it the village is so-so,” said local pub owner Peter Fitzpatrick
Karl Rogers, the hotel’s former owner – who is getting a lot of flak from locals for signing the first contract to temporarily house Ukrainian refugees after Covid crippled his business – is also disappointed. He said that if he had known this would be the fate of his beloved hotel, he would never have sold it. The catch may be that the current owner is a company based in Cork city – Ireland’s third largest city, and is presumably not working for the well-being of the residents of the rural villages. Instead, for business reasons, there will be 80 permanent “guests” instead of a sporadically operating hotel, regardless of what the locals want.
This company submitted the application for the possibility of accepting refugees; the government only suspended its consideration for three months because the locals submitted an alternative proposal.
64-year-old John Foalan told the paper: “’When the Ukrainians came we welcomed them, but we see what’s happening in other areas, people turning up with no papers, no documents, no nothing, just expecting to walk in.” He also warned of what happened in Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, where 15 votes were cast in favor of the government plan for a reception center and 197 against it, but the center was opened nonetheless.
Now, a local development cooperative is trying to buy back the building for a community-run hotel using fundraising and tender resources.”

I love the free periods I get occasionally on the pay channels – I go thru and look at the movies available and set them to record – just watched a really cool movie, “Moondance Alexander.”
“Moondance (Kay Panabaker) is faced with her father’s passing and her overprotective mother (Lori Loughlin). When she finds a lost horse and discovers his abilities, she convinces his owner (Don Johnson) to train them to compete.”

Just The News: “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday announced from the Oval Office that his nation would eliminate tariffs imposed by his nation on American goods. He became the first world leader to visit the White House after Trump announced new tariff rates with trade partners across the globe.
He told a room of dignitaries and reporters, “we will eliminate the trade deficit with the United States. We intend to do it very quickly. We think it’s the right thing to do. And we’re going to also eliminate trade barriers, a variety of trade barriers, that have been put up unnecessarily. And I think Israel can serve as a model for many countries who ought to do the same.”
During weekend media appearances the previous two days, multiple Trump administration officials confirmed that at least 50 countries have reached out to Trump in an effort to make a deal with the U.S.
The director of the National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett told ABC’s This Week that “more than 50 countries have reached out to the president to begin a negotiation, but they’re doing that because they understand that they bear a lot of the tariff.”
Addressing concerns that the tariffs will hurt Americans, he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, “I don’t think that you’re going to see a big effect on the consumer in the U.S. because I do think that the reason why we have a persistent, long-run trade deficit these people have very inelastic supply. They’ve been dumping goods into the country in order to create jobs.”
Additionally, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told NBC‘s Meet the Press, “More than 50 countries have approached the administration about lowering their non-tariff trade barriers, lowering their tariffs, stopping currency manipulation.”
The meeting took place amidst Israeli troops deploying to a new security corridor in Gaza to pressure Hamas and seize broader territories to expand its so-called security zones.
This was Netanyahu’s second trip to the White House during Trump’s second term.”

“President Trump wants ‘fair and reciprocal’ trade, not radical transformation — President Trump is a dealmaker and a pragmatist, not an ideologue.”
Jordan Schachtel, Apr 07, 2025
“In the aftermath of “Liberation Day,” the entire world has been scrambling to figure out what exactly President Trump is pursuing as his end game with global trade. On Monday afternoon, the president provided significant and necessary clarity on his intentions for America’s position in the global economy.
Financial markets have noticeably slumped over previous trading days (though on Monday, the Nasdaq closed even), given the announced sweeping imposition of American tariffs on any and all foreign countries. The president’s top administration officials and surrogates — Peter Navarro, Howard Lutnick, Elon Musk, and Scott Bessent — have all been singing different tunes, adding to the confusion and speculation.
Many permanently online sycophantic voices have even taken to suggesting that the president is determined to radically reorient global trade itself. Well, it turns out that the president doesn’t share the sentiments of the ideologues.
On Monday, we received lots of much-needed clarity about the president’s plan of action. The President held a press gaggle with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which he detailed his intentions for rebalancing global trade.”
Two key words best capture the president’s intentions: “fair and reciprocal.” More than anything, the president expressed that he wants better deals for American exporters. Specifically, he wants foreign countries to grant American companies access to their markets, citing Japan, China, and European countries that he felt were creating unfair conditions for U.S. exports.
Contrary to the insistence of hyper-protectionist administration officials like Peter Navarro, the tariffs do not appear designed to act as a long-term policy measure to form a mercantilist economy but as a mechanism to encourage a restructured playing field. In the press conference, the president highlighted the appeal of a system that utilizes tariffs instead of income tax to gather additional tax revenue. Still, it appeared as a very secondary point to his primary insistence that America is getting “ripped off” on global trade.
President Trump repeatedly provided an off-ramp to countries—both friends and adversaries—that shield their economies from American business and made it clear that he would not remain hyper-committed to the idea of having to perfectly remedy an unbalanced trade deficit.
The infamous trade deficits/tariffs chart that the president unveiled on Liberation Day can now best be understood as the president’s first also in an attempt to reset the geopolitical chessboard on trade, but not as some attempt to radically transform it.
While resulting trade deals may allow America to bolster its manufacturing prowess, the president’s Monday remarks seem to have quashed the notion that the United States will radically transform its economy into a siloed anti-market economy.
As proven by his business and political career, President Trump is a dealmaker and a pragmatist, not an ideologue. His trade gambit is certainly ambitious, and the merits of even engaging in such a ploy are definitely worthy of critique. But contrary to the opinion of various pro and anti-Trump pundits and commentators, it does not appear to be some grand scheme to overturn the entire global order.”
