D-DAY

Without the brilliant planning and heroic sacrifices of the D-Day invasion, the Allies may have never defeated the Nazi forces in Europe. On June 6, 1944, more than 156,000 American, British and Canadian troops stormed 50 miles of Normandy’s fiercely defended beaches in northern France in an operation that proved to be a critical turning point in World War II. Below are key facts on the planning and execution of the epic Allied invasion.

D-Day Meaning: The ‘D’ in D-Day doesn’t actually stand for anything.

Unlike V-E Day (“Victory in Europe”) or V-J Day (“Victory over Japan”), the “D” in D-Day isn’t short for “departure” or “decision.” As early as World War I, the U.S. military used the term D-Day to designate the launch date of a mission. One reason was to keep the actual date out of the hands of spies; another was to serve as a placeholder until an actual date was chosen. They also used H-Hour for the specific time of the launch.

The D-Day invasion took years of planning.

Allied leaders Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill knew from the start of the war that a massive invasion of mainland Europe would be critical to relieve pressure from the Soviet army fighting the Nazis in the east. Initially, a plan called “Operation Sledgehammer” called for an Allied invasion of ports in northwest France as early as 1943, but Roosevelt and Churchill decided to invade Northern Africa first and attack Europe’s “soft underbelly” through Italy.

D-Day was the largest amphibious invasion in military history.

According to the D-Day Center, the invasion, officially called “Operation Overlord,” combined the forces of 156,115 U.S., British and Canadian troops, 6,939 ships and landing vessels, and 2,395 aircraft and 867 gliders that delivered airborne troops.

Allied forces carried out a massive deception campaign in advance of D-Day.

The idea behind the ruse was to trick the Nazis into thinking that the invasion would occur at Pas-de-Calais, the closest French coastline to England. The Allies used fake radio transmissions, double agents, and even a “phantom army,” commanded by American General George Patton, to throw Germany off the scent.

A D-Day dress rehearsal was a fiasco.

Two months before D-Day, Allied forces conducted a disastrous dress rehearsal of the Normandy invasion on an evacuated English beach called Slapton Sands. Known as “Exercise Tiger,” 749 U.S. troops lost their lives after a fleet of German E-boats caught wind of the mock invasion and torpedoed American tank landing ships. Survivors described the Exercise Tiger fiasco as more terrifying than the D-Day landing on Omaha Beach.

Germany had fortified France’s coast.

Anticipating an Allied invasion somewhere along the French coast, Adolf Hitler charged Field Marshal Erwin Rommel with fortifying Nazi defenses in France. In 1943, Rommel completed construction of the “Atlantic Wall,” Germany’s 2,400-mile line of bunkers, landmines and beach and water obstacles. It’s estimated that the Nazis planted 4 million landmines along Normandy’s beaches.

The U.S. shipped tons of supplies to the staging area in England.

Since Operation Overlord was launched from England, the U.S. military had to ship 7 million tons of supplies to the staging area, including 450,000 tons of ammunition.

Bad weather delayed the invasion.

Troops and supplies were in place by May, but bad weather delayed the launch date of the invasion. On June 5, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander in charge of Operation Overlord, decided that the invasion would happen the next day, in part because the weather was still rough and Nazi planes were grounded. That same day, 1,000 British bombers dropped 5,000 tons of munitions on Nazi gun batteries along the Normandy coast to cripple Germany’s defenses before the imminent invasion.

D-Day was carried out along five sections of beachfront.

Operation Overlord was divided among sections of beachfront along the Normandy coast code named, from West to East: “Utah,” “Omaha,” “Gold,” “Juno” and “Sword.”

Paratroopers launched the operation before dawn .

The D-Day invasion began in the pre-dawn hours of June 6 with thousands of paratroopers landing inland on the Utah and Sword beaches in an attempt to cut off exits and destroy bridges to slow Nazi reinforcements. American paratroopers suffered high casualties at Utah beach, some drowning under heavy equipment in flooded marshland, others shot out of the sky by Nazi snipers. The British and Canadian paratroopers met less resistance at Sword beach and quickly took two key bridges.

More than 156,000 Allied ground troops stormed the beaches.
In wave after wave of thousands of landing ships, more than 156,000 Allied infantrymen stormed the five beaches. Facing them were around 50,000 Germans troops. Stormy seas made the landings incredibly difficult, with many regiments coming ashore far from their target destinations. At Omaha Beach, only two of the 29 amphibious tanks even made it to land on their own power (three were later transported to the beach). At Utah Beach, the American troops included 14 Comanche “code-talkers” who relayed critical tactical messages in their Native American tongue

The toughest fighting was on Omaha Beach.

At Omaha Beach, bombing runs had failed to take out heavily fortified Nazi artillery positions. The first waves of American fighters were cut down in droves by German machine gun fire as they scrambled across the mine-riddled beach. But U.S. forces persisted through the day-long slog, pushing forward to a fortified seawall and then up steep bluffs to take out the Nazi artillery posts by nightfall. All told, around 2,400 American troops were killed, wounded or unaccounted for after the fighting at Omaha Beach.

Canadian troops at Juno Beach captured the most territory.

Canadian soldiers also suffered terrible casualties at Juno Beach, battling rough seas before landing on a heavily defended strip of shoreline. Similar to the Americans at Omaha Beach, the first lines of Canadian troops were gunned down en masse by Nazi artillery—estimates put the initial casualty rate at 50 percent—before pushing beyond the beachfront and chasing the Germans inland. In the end, the Canadians at Juno captured more towns and territory than any other battalions in Operation Overlord.

All five beaches were secured by Allied forces by June 11.

Five days after the D-Day invasion, troops immediately began installing two massive temporary harbors that had taken six months to construct back in England. All told, the Allies unloaded approximately 2,500,000 men, 500,000 vehicles and 4,000,000 tons of supplies at the temporary harbors over the remaining course of the war.

The D-Day invasion marked a turning point in the war.

The total Allied losses at Normandy are estimated to be at least 4,413. Total Allied casualties in the Battle of Normandy, which dragged on until August, topped 226,000. But thanks in part to the massive influx of troops and equipment, D-Day marked a decisive turning point in the war. Less than a year later, on May 7, 1945, Germany signed an unconditional surrender.

“Imagine yourself being a 16 or 17-year-old kid and you’re in that landing craft…”

“This is what was happening on this morning, 79 years ago. God bless each and every one of them – they truly were ‘The Greatest Generation’. You never have and hopefully never will experience anything nearly as maddening, chaotic and frightening as this must have been, and yet they persevered, and were selfless in doing so.

And because of them – their bravery and sacrifice – we are here today, alive and free. Think about them – their trials and sacrifices and what they preserved for us – before you bitch about something truly trivial in your life or world…”

Here’s some great advice for our President Trump when he gets back in office:

The 6-foot-8 weasel made an excellent suggestion.

I hope the president tuned in because Comey outlined just what Donald John Trump can do. I want Trump to take Comey’s advice and not be wuss in his second presidency.

I want Trump to preside like an avenging angel.

He needs to realize that we are at war with the devil who wants to destroy this nation which was founded by God-fearing Christians who created the greatest nation in the history of the world.

Robert Spencer wrote, “Comey Warns Trump Might Use the Constitution Against Him and His Corrupt Friends.”
    Sounds good to me.

  3. EXCERPT: “D-Day was the name given to the June 6, 1944, invasion of the beaches at Normandy in northern France by troops from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries during World War II. France at the time was occupied by the armies of Nazi Germany, and the amphibious assault—codenamed Operation Overlord—landed some 156,000 Allied soldiers on the beaches of Normandy by the end of the day. Despite their success, some 4,000 Allied troops were killed by German soldiers defending the beaches. At the time, the D-Day invasion was the largest naval, air and land operation in history, and within a few days about 326,000 troops, more than 50,000 vehicles and some 100,000 tons of equipment had landed. By August 1944, all of northern France had been liberated, and in spring of 1945 the Allies had defeated the Germans. Historians often refer to D-Day as the beginning of the end of World War II.
(Video – I can’t watch due to my ad blocker)
After World War II began, Germany invaded and occupied northwestern France beginning in May 1940. The Americans entered the war in December 1941, and by 1942 they and the British (who had been evacuated from the beaches of Dunkirk in May 1940 after being cut off by the Germans in the Battle of France) were considering the possibility of a major Allied invasion across the English Channel. The following year, Allied plans for a cross-Channel invasion began to ramp up. In November 1943, Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), who was aware of the threat of an invasion along France’s northern coast, put Erwin Rommel (1891-1944) in charge of spearheading defense operations in the region, even though the Germans did not know exactly where the Allies would strike. Hitler charged Rommel with finishing the Atlantic Wall, a 2,400-mile fortification of bunkers, landmines and beach and water obstacles.

In January 1944, General Dwight Eisenhower (1890-1969) was appointed commander of Operation Overlord. In the months and weeks before D-Day, the Allies carried out a massive deception operation intended to make the Germans think the main invasion target was Pas-de-Calais (the narrowest point between Britain and France) rather than Normandy. In addition, they led the Germans to believe that Norway and other locations were also potential invasion targets. Many tactics were used to carry out the deception, including fake equipment; a phantom army commanded by George Patton and supposedly based in England, across from Pas-de-Calais; double agents; and fraudulent radio transmissions.”

They’re doing something that couldn’t more be frivolous if they tried. The Champs-Élysées in Paris was taken over by ‘writers’ on Sunday in perhaps the world’s largest-ever dictation event. You read that correctly, my friend.

Instead of car traffic, the famed boulevard was covered by some 1,779 desks organized into rows for the more than 5,000 Frenchies with absolutely nothing better to do with their time and energy who were chosen to participate. And there were no cocktails involved. You figure it out…”

  6. Intel Official Turned UFO Whistleblower Claims the U.S. Possesses Craft of Non-Human Origin – Problems With The Story. Who cares about investigative fact-checking when you can get loads of clicks!

    JORDAN SATHER
    JUN 6, 2023

EXCERPT: “Over the past 5 and a half years the subject of UFOs and UFO Disclosure has gone mainstream, beginning with the New York Times opening the can of worms with their “Secret UFO Program” stories in December 2017. Now it seems every week or two we get a new story that ripples across the legacy media – whether or not these stories are true is subject to debate. It seems that for such “journalistic” outlets they tend to drop the fact-checking ball when it comes to anything UFO/UAP related, and the same could be said for many individuals themselves. Two weeks ago we were dealing with a story from Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp alleged to be a “Black ‘half-football-field-sized’ triangular UFO seen hovering over California military base”, yet further inspection showed that these were mostly likely simple military flares from a Marine training exercise. That didn’t strop the mainstream media and a bunch of UFO buffs from running with the idea that these were aliens spacecraft. Gotta get them clicks!

This week we have another story breaking and currently being copy and pasted across the media landscape. It comes from a website called The Debrief with the headline, “Intelligence Officials Say U.S. Has Retrieved Craft of Non-Human Origin”, alleging that “a former intelligence official turned whistleblower has given Congress and the Intelligence Community Inspector General extensive classified information about deeply covert programs that he says possess retrieved intact and partially intact craft of non-human origin”.

I have some reservations about this one, and it seems other UFO enthusiasts across social media, the ones who seem to be more logically minded and healthily skeptical, do too.

My first reservation is the sources. The Debrief media start-up was founded in late 2020 by writers from VICE News and other mainstream media outlets, and the particular authors of our “UFO Whistleblower” article, Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal, are long-time New York Times writers. In fact, they were the ones who wrote those original “Secret UFO Program” articles for the New York Times that broke in December 2017. This does not mean the claims contained within The Debrief story are false, I am simply noting the messenger – could some sort of psy-op be at play, here?

The next issue I have with this story is that our intelligence officer turned UFO Whistleblower, David Charles Grusch, is mostly running on hearsay. The Debrief, News Nation, who was able to get Grusch for a sit-down interview, and even Grusch himself have not shown any photographic, video, or document evidence regarding the government’s alleged crash retrievals and program overseeing them. The excuse given by the reporters is that he cannot do so “because they are classified” and for “national security reasons”. Ah, the always useful national security excuse, and while that may be a legitimate excuse, that means we still don’t have verifiable proof to see for ourselves.

Listening to Grusch in his News Nation interview, he continuously talks about “officers who confided in him” about these UFO programs, saying he was not actually a part of the program or has seen any photos from it, he had only heard about these crash retrieval from his colleagues and was shown purported documents about it from them. So, Grusch could be telling the truth from his perspective, and wouldn’t technically be lying to Congress by telling them what he was told, but that doesn’t mean what Grusch thinks and believes is factual in nature. Grusch could have had disinformation given to him, without his knowledge, to be shared with the world as a part of the grander disinformation campaign. And there are many appeal to authority fallacies being presented with this story by the reporters. “We can trust him, he worked for the intel community”, “this official vouches for him, that official vouches for him”, “he’s honest and moral, what he’s saying must be true”. Most of what we have been given at this point is based on conjecture and he said/she said rumors.

It’s also notable that the Department of Defense cleared Grusch to share all of this with the world. As The Debrief noted, “in accordance with protocols, Grusch provided the Defense Office of Prepublication and Security Review at the Department of Defense with the information he intended to disclose to us. His on-the-record statements were all cleared for open publication on April 4 and 6, 2023″. One must ask, why would the D.O.D. be clearing this for the public? And why is the media jumping on board this whistleblower with such vigor? Usually whistleblowers who divulge truly sensitive info that the establishment doesn’t want out there get the Julian Assange treatment, silenced and suppressed. While Grusch may be honorable in his intent, I believe it’s possible he’s being used as a part of the grander UFO Disclosure psy-op by the Deep National Security State.”

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) says his chamber has no plans to take up legislation that would boost military aid to Ukraine and other defense spending above the levels allowed in a bill signed into law by President Biden that suspends the debt ceiling and curbs federal spending.

McCarthy’s posture puts him at odds with both Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), who assured defense hawks in their chamber that the bipartisan debt deal would not prevent Congress from passing supplemental funding for Ukraine beyond the agreement’s $886 billion for defense in the next fiscal year.

  17. “Brit bottled by migrant squatters after confronting group living in his Spanish home–The British homeowner was hospitalized with cuts to his face and torso after the squatters reacted angrily to being confronted”
    June 06, 2023
editor: REMIX NEWS author: THOMAS BROOKE

“A British homeowner in the Spanish province of Málaga has been hospitalized after traveling from England to confront a group of migrant squatters living in his Spanish property. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the town of Manilva, located approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Málaga.

The victim, known as Michael, had received a call two days prior from neighbors at the Spanish residential complex informing him of movement within his property. When it became clear a group of men had accessed the property and were now living in it, the British national flew out from Liverpool to recover his home.

According to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, Michael noticed the locks had been changed, and accessed his property from the balcony of an adjoining apartment. Once inside his home, he identified “three men, probably of Moroccan nationality.” They reportedly expressed their intention to assert their rights under Spanish law, a tense discussion escalated into an assault when one of the squatters used a bottle to attack the Brit, bloodying his face and torso. “One of them breaks a glass bottle with which he struck several blows to the complainant’s body and head while he was struggling,” the police report read.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he spent a night under observation. It later transpired that the squatters had been given access to the property by a former tenant without the owner’s knowledge or consent, according to a local source cited by El Mundo.

Under Spain’s liberal squatting laws, it is notoriously difficult for owners to evict illegal occupants from a property once they have access to it, and judicial intervention is required. The judicial process in this regard was sped up through constitutional changes in 2018; however, property owners still often find themselves in legal difficulty when attempting to take matters into their own hands.

This is an issue that Mario Jiménez, the mayor of Manilva City Council, wants to see addressed. He expressed concern about the attack generating publicity that “does not do the municipality or anyone outside our borders any good. “There is a need for sanity to solve the problem of squatting, to provide judges and state security forces and bodies with the necessary tools to combat it,” he added.”

  20. more fraud committed…9 MILLION parcels shipped with counterfeit postage–yet she is charged with ONE count of conspiracy and ONE count of use or possession of counterfeit postage! charge her with 9 MILLION COUNTS!!!
    entire article
Lijuan “Angela” Chen was arrested on May 24 after postal inspectors say she shipped nine million parcels over the course of six months using shipping labels belonging to a meter number which had been phased out in 2020, despite indicating that it had been purchased in 2023.

Chen faces one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, and one count of use or possession of counterfeit postage per the filing, Insider reports.

According to an inspector’s affidavit, the USPS would have lost $60 million in revenue due to the apparent scheme.

He also carried out surveillance on a warehouse, watching a delivery truck travel to a USPS facility “where it unloaded twelve large cardboard boxes full of parcels containing counterfeit postage,” per the affidavit.

Other inspectors saw one truck, which had been turned away from a distribution center for trying to ship mail with counterfeit postage, parked outside Chen’s house a day later, according to the court document. -Insider

“The evidence obtained in the investigation shows that Chen is operating a business which provides shipping and postage services to businesses, including e-commerce vendors operating out of China, that seek discounted USPS rates for mailing their products within the United States,” reads the filing.

“Multiple examinations conducted by USPS and USPIS staff have revealed that the vast majority of the postage used by Chen and her business to ship goods within the United States is counterfeit.”

According to prosecutors, Chen’s husband first ran the scheme before traveling to China in 2019, after which she is believed to have continued it up to August 2022.

This time, I had to separate out one seedling each from 2 separate hills of 3 and the roots were exposed…..I’ll keep them for a week or so in the bucket and see if they make it, then give it to Lois. I’m going to suggest she just leave them in the ice cream buckets until they get root-bound, then transfer each into the ground. 24. “Showtime Mysteriously Pulls Documentary on Ron DeSantis’s Role in Guantánamo–A Vice episode was set to dig into DeSantis’s time as an officer at torture camp Guantánamo Bay. It was quietly dropped.”

ENTIRE ARTICLE @ newrepublic.com: “Just over a week after Ron DeSantis announced his bid for president, Showtime has mysteriously pulled an investigative episode into the Florida governor’s time working at the infamous Guantánamo Bay detention facility. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the documentary (episode 4 of Vice’s fourth season), “The Gitmo Candidate & Chipping Away,” was slated for May 28 but was instead replaced with repeat programming. Now the June 4 episode is marked as episode 4.

Mentions of the episode have reportedly been erased from Showtime’s website and press portal, as if the episode has not been rescheduled but removed entirely. “We don’t comment on scheduling decisions,” a Showtime spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. “As with all current affairs programming, there can be scheduling changes, and we are very much still in discussion about the scheduling of this episode,” a Vice representative said, offering little other clarity. “We are proud of our reporting and of our continuing partnership with Showtime.”

The episode certainly did not bode promisingly for DeSantis. “Seb Walker investigates allegations from former Guantánamo Bay detainees that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis witnessed acts condemned by the United Nations as torture during his past service at the controversial detention camp as a Navy JAG officer,” an episode description read.

DeSantis has drawn intense scrutiny surrounding his time as a U.S. Navy lawyer overseeing “investigative tactics” (torture) at Guantánamo. It’s a background the presidential candidate has been extremely cagey about, emotionally lashing out at the press (shocker) when asked about it.

DeSantis had come to Guantánamo while detainees were conducting hunger strikes in protest of their treatment; DeSantis was tasked with dealing with it. What did that entail? Well, DeSantis has openly talked about force-feeding as among the mechanisms officers like him would recommend to prison guards. The Florida governor was sent to Guantánamo the same year three inmates died, at the time a record high of deaths in one year at the prison facility. Official reports, including from DeSantis himself, rule the deaths as suicides; many, including a former guard, dispute the idea.

Two former Guantánamo detainees, Abu Sarrah Ahmed Abdel Aziz and Mansoor Adayfi, have both come out with their dark recollections of DeSantis and his real role at the camp. Aziz said DeSantis promised over and over again to make sure senior officials heard of prisoner’s complaints of abuse. Instead, conditions got even worse. “It was a face I could never forget. I had seen that face for the first time in Guantánamo, in 2006—one of the camp’s darkest years when the authorities started violently breaking hunger strikes and three of my brothers were found dead in their cages,” Adayfi wrote in Al Jazeera.

Adayfi recalls an instance of being force-fed and seeing DeSantis watching from behind a fence, “smiling and laughing with other officers as I screamed in pain.”

  25. now we have ghost students. due to the plandemic and not verifying household income, bots and fraudsters found it easy to steal identities to receive grant/college student funding
    entire article
Richard Valicenti, 64, received an out-of-the-ordinary check in the mail last summer. It was $1,400 for a Pell Grant to attend Saddleback College in Orange County, CA. Valicenti, a radiation oncologist at UC Davis, was well-beyond his college years and also had “never heard” of the college he was allegedly attending and getting federal aid for, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

While Valicenti was perplexed, college admissions directors and administrators are all too familiar with the situation. Valicenti’s identity had been stolen by criminals attempting to receive financial aid by creating bogus college applications — a practice that has resulted in an unprecedented influx of “ghost students.”

Ghost students are essentially bots created by fraudsters that take advantage of the application system in hopes of receiving government aid.

About 20% of California community college applications are fictitious, according to the state Chancellor’s Office, per The Chronicle, and may be an easy target for criminals as community colleges in the state do not require a social security number to apply and are required to accept any applicant with a high school diploma.

The rise in ghost students has surged since the pandemic, due to online classes which made it easier for ghost students to go under the radar, as well as the U.S. Department of Education’s decision to stop verifying household income in the wake of a national crisis — an initiative that is expected to remain in place until the next award cycle.

City College of San Francisco reported 59 fraudulent students to the chancellor’s office this spring alone, and has identified 29 ghost students who have received $22,418 in Pell Grants to date, officials told the outlet.

“It is a 100% disservice to every single taxpayer,” Kim Rich, a criminal justice instructor at L.A. Pierce College told the outlet. “These criminals wouldn’t still be doing this if they weren’t getting the money.”

Rich said that after instructors cleared out ghost students, spring enrollment at Pierce dropped from 7,658 to 4,937.

In March, the U.S. Justice Department arrested three women in Los Angeles for allegedly stealing inmates’ identities to falsely enroll in California colleges and steal federal aid. From January 2012 to August 2017, the women allegedly stole about $1 million in student loans.

“As a result of their alleged scheme, the defendants fraudulently caused the United States Treasury to disburse approximately $980,000 in FSA funds on behalf of straw students,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in the press release.
