What does Spring mean to you? An end to winter?

Time for fun and games?

How about Spring cleaning? Are you pro or con?

If you are going to spend your time cleaning, remember to first get everything out of your way. It will be easier.

But when you’re finished, everything will be in its place!

But then you can rest!

HAPPY SPRING!
Good Morning, Pat and Filly!
Spring Cleaning – !!! I used to do that – they called me a clean-freak.
Nowadays, I do my yard (that’s fun for me) and the kitchen, bathrooms and my bedroom, then kinda bog down at the computer. If there was anyone but me here, I’d do better. I spend more time cleaning and organizing at Sally Q’s than my house. I bring all the extra handicap stuff she’s not using any more and plonk it down wherever, then work and live around it.
My house is kind of a repository – a warehouse of stuff – not a home. Haven’t really downsized or weeded out the stuff from 31 years of marriage. All the trunks, boxes, stacks of stuff is stuffed in closets, and fills one bedroom….
The accumulated detritus of all the years, still causes tears and fears, and so I procrastinate and let it all continue to clog up my life and mind to my detriment, but the inner detritus is worse. So, I need to do Spring Cleaning on multiple levels – inside and out.

Morning GA!
I look forward to spring cleaning! But then I have a small house and a wood stove. Even though I vacuum frequently, i can see the fine dust from the wood stove settle on everything! So when I decide to “spring clean” it’s usually later in spring when I’m sure that we’ve had our last fire for a while and hubby has emptied the ash tray. Then I’ll go to town and even steam the wood floors.
My mother though? she STILL spring cleans–the best she can–but then she recruits me to tackle the rest. She washes every wall, ceiling and behind everything!

years ago I bought a shark steam cleaner. it has changeable fabric heads. when one gets too dirty, I switch to another. then i can throw them all in the washer and reuse them.
it’s a great, handy machine. it doesn’t get the floor wet much at all. I use it twice a year. once in the spring after the fires are done and once in the fall before we start up the fires.

Ron DeSanctimonious is dropping in the Polls so fast that he soon may be falling behind young Vivek Ramaswamy. People are beginning to find out that Ron wanted to destroy Social Security, and raise its minimum age to at least 70. He also had strong plans for cutting Medicare, and still does. Nothing good happens when you are a disciple of Super RINO Paul Ryan. Also, Florida did great long before DeSanctus came along, got my “coveted” Endorsement, shot up like a rocket, and won!

Today I parted ways with @RSBNetwork due to my comments regarding @GovRonDeSantis, although I am an opinion-writer, my views were seen as potentially unfavorable to the outlet.
It was explained that Ron’s PR team might not want to work with an outlet that employed writers who criticized him in the fashion that I do on my personal social media.
I hold no ill will toward @RSBNetwork whatsoever and will continue fighting the good fight regardless of what it costs me!
*Clarification I was an independent contractor with them, not employed.*

Wow. This is the second reporter in 1 week who has been fired or “parted ways” with their network/ publication over pressure from @GovRonDeSantis & his team.

ahhhh…the REST of the story…”insurrectionist filmed wearing a black leather jacket outside, goes into the capitol and removes that to reveal a reagan sweatshirt and dons a trump cap…
FTA
Mr. Gardner’s actions sure sound an awful lot like those of a member of the cop-hating, leftist, domestic terrorist group Antifa. It wasn’t until Mr. Gardner was inside the building that he removed his black jacket to reveal a red “Reagan-Bush” sweatshirt and a “Trump 45” hat, a curious move by a man who, according to his sentencing statement, was not a fan of Trump.
In addition to wearing a black jacket (black is commonly worn by Antifa), he also “believed President Trump’s candidacy to be a joke, a publicity event for a celebrity,” according to his sentencing statement.
According to MSN– Attorneys for Gardner argued in a sentencing memorandum filed on March 3 that he grew up in a red state, which explains the “huge discrepancy between his life and nonviolent choices otherwise, and his behavior the day of January 6.” Gardner’s attorneys said he voted for Obama “both times” and “did not vote for Donald Trump when he ran for office.”
After President Joe Biden was announced as the winner of the 2020 presidential election, Trump’s misinformation caused Gardner to believe “that the election had been stolen and the way of life in America was about to change,” the document says.
Gardner had never been politically active before 2020, but during Trump’s presidency, he “flourished financially,” which led him to believe the misinformation that Trump was spreading, his attorneys said.
As a side note, the FBI used the same geofencing technique to identify individuals inside and outside of the Capitol on January 6 that Catherine Engelbrecht and Gregg Phillips of True the Vote used to identify ballot traffickers.
A portion of the court records from the Gardner case:
Through further investigation, the FBI determined that a cellphone associated with the number is used by GARDNER. W-1 told TFOs that he/she has contacted GARDNER via cellphone and stated that belongs to GARDNER. According to records obtained through a search warrant which was served on Verizon Wireless, in and around the time of the incident, the cellphone associated with was identified as having utilized a cell site consistent with providing service to a geographic area that includes the interior of the U.S. Capitol
building.
“Fact-checkers” in the dishonest mainstream media who were desperate to squelch their story called the technology True the Vote used to identify ballot traffickers and NGOs that supported their ballot trafficking schemes “unreliable.”
It’s odd that the FBI would rely on technology that the mainstream media has deemed unreliable to catch “insurrectionists” on January 6, yet the FBI seems completely disinterested in using the same technology to break up a massive ballot harvesting scheme in multiple states across America.

“Trump probe: law enforcement don’t expect arraignment until next week, virtual option not considered”
EXCERPT: “Law enforcement officials met behind closed doors Monday to discuss the logistics of arraigning former President Trump following his possible indictment over hush-money payments made on his behalf during the 2016 presidential campaign.
A law enforcement source told Fox News Monday that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and different branches of law enforcement discussed the logistics of closing down streets and putting lights up with generators, extra barriers and extra police.
The source said law enforcement does not expect the former president to be arraigned until next week as the Manhattan grand jury – which has been meeting secretly to hear evidence for weeks – has another witness on Wednesday. A virtual option was apparently ruled out as the DA is opposed to it. However, another source familiar with the discussions regarding the handling of a possible Trump indictment, said that a virtual arraignment for the former president was never seriously considered.”

“Amanda Bynes placed on psychiatric hold after roaming L.A. streets naked: Report”
by: Christine Samra
Posted: Mar 20, 2023 / 11:57 AM PDT
ENTIRE ARTICLE @ktla.com: “Actress Amanda Bynes has reportedly been placed on a psychiatric hold after allegedly wandering around downtown Los Angeles naked over the weekend, TMZ reported. Eyewitnesses tell the site that the “She’s The Man” star had on no clothes when she flagged down a car early Sunday and explained she was coming down from a “psychotic episode.”
Bynes reportedly called 911 herself and police sources say she was taken to a nearby police station where she was evaluated by mental health professionals. That team found she needed to be placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold.
It appears that the actress was not hurt. Sources close to the “All That” alum said she’s currently in the hospital and will possibly stay there for “several days.” These types of hold usually last for 72 hours. This episode comes almost a year after Bynes’ conservatorship ended. It was placed in 2013 with her mom as her conservator. Around that time she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
TMZ reports that Bynes was set to appear at ’90s Con 2023 in Connecticut over the weekend, but dropped out “due to illness.” KTLA has reached out to Bynes’ attorney for a statement following this report but hasn’t heard back.”

You can get dwarf fruit trees that will actually grow fruit. I had a Tangerine tree for a long time but I couldn’t ever get fruit from it. Had I kept re-potting it into bigger and bigger pots, I probably would have eventually. But they have to be inside in your area, just like mine. I’ve heard of winter pears but don’t know much about them.

we have a dwarf cherry–and the thing I found I don’t like about the dwarf trees is they always have to be fenced in so the deer don’t eat/destroy them.
our one cherry and apple trees still have trunk guards (to prevent the buck in fall from wrecking them). but the other cherry’s trunk us thick and sturdy enough that they can’t damage it.
I was mainly looking for a flowering tree because i can’t have flowers…

Hmmmm….hibiscus tree, maybe? I have 2 of the Rose of Sharon bushes that can be pruned into a tree. Deer do like them but there are some kinds that they avoid more.
“The hibiscus tree is a flowering ornamental plant with large, showy, trumpet-shaped flowers. Hibiscus trees have large tropical flowers between 3” and 8” (7 – 20 cm) across that grow in hues of pink, red, lilac, purple, blue, and white. Hibiscus trees are easy to grow in gardens as long as they get plenty of sunshine. Plenty of light means that the sizeable shrubby tree blooms continuously throughout the summer.
About Hibiscus Trees: There are two types of hibiscus trees: braided hibiscus that grows in tropical climates and the tree form of Hibiscus syriacus (Rose of Sharon) which is a hardy hibiscus.
The Hibiscus syriacus (Rose of Sharon) is a large hardy shrub that grows in northern climates. The multi-stemmed shrub can be trained to grow as a tree with a single trunk. Although best growing in the ground, smaller hibiscus trees can grow in pots.” https://leafyplace.com/hibiscus-tree/
“They do. Hibiscus is a top favorite amongst deer for its thick and lovely foliage. However, given that the flowers do not feature a strong fragrance either, they like to nibble on the flowers as well. With that stated, some versions of these plants aren’t as chosen as these pesky.
Some types of hibiscus might be more resistant to deer than others. We suggest planting those such as Helene, Diana, Freedom, Red Heart, Pink Giant, and Blushing Bride for greater deer activity locations. They must not be planted near daylilies, hostas, or geraniums for most satisfactory outcomes, as these types are appealing to deer.”

Who funds these groups ?
https://theappeal.org/south-florida-sex-offense-homeless-population-spikes/
But Sorensen didn’t mention that the city’s own rules are, in part, driving up homelessness. An ordinance forbidding most people on the state’s sexual offense registry from living within 1,400 feet of schools, daycares, parks, or playgrounds puts all but 1 percent of residences off limits to those on the offense registry and forces hundreds to live on the streets. Today, a sample of the city’s unhoused people on the state registry shows that a majority camp on a commercial strip on a major highway in north Fort Lauderdale.
Sorenson also did not acknowledge that the Florida Action Committee (FAC), a nonprofit that advocates for the rights of people placed on sexual offense registries, had, for months, been asking city and county leaders for a plan to house registrants. In the days after the Nov. 1 meeting, FAC escalated its actions. On Nov. 14, the group petitioned the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, alleging that the U.S. public sex offender registry contravenes provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The declaration bans “cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” The group asked the UN to investigate and attached a change.org petition that’s been signed by almost 4,500 people.
“The act of placing human beings on a public shaming list for life and subjecting them to the crippling and dehumanizing consequences, when that list has been proven through empirical research to be ineffective at preventing recidivism or reducing sexual offending, is cruel and degrading,” the group wrote to the UN.
If the UN determines the complaint is admissible, it will be sent to the U.S. government for a response and could eventually be referred to the UN’s Human Rights Council for further action. As yet, FAC has heard nothing back from the UN, Gail Colletta, the group’s president, told The Appeal.

The UN has no jurisdiction over any country let alone America. To lend them any false power is wrong. You think China or. Russia or India etc., would kowtow to the UN if push came to shove? No. They would not. What can the UN do anyway? Try to send in UN troops to enforce whatever they want to? Nope. Not gonna happen.

Prosecutor Ron DeSantis: An Enemy To J6 Political Prisoners (substack.com)–Laura Loomer:
“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis supported the Capitol Police’s actions on January 6th, and he said he was in favor of J6 protesters being arrested and prosecuted for their Constitutionally protected right to protest and petition their government for grievances.
“I actually am glad to see some of these people being arrested from the DC thing, because I think the prosecutions will really make a difference. I think it was a really unfortunate thing,” DeSantis stated…
Many of the J6 political prisoners have spent months in solitary confinement, and in abhorrent conditions. In one instance, the wife of a J6 prisoner from Florida described how her husband has been denied medical treatment for his cancer while being detained and jailed for participating in J6.
During a press conference, his wife thanked President Donald Trump for supporting her, her family, and the families of other J6 prisoners. She added that she has repeatedly called and left messages for her Governor, Ron DeSantis, in which she asked and begged for his help. “I’m from Florida. Nobody from Florida, Governor DeSantis hasn’t even reached out to us,” the prisoner’s wife told reporters during a press conference.
Prison conditions for J6 political prisoners is so bad and inhumane that 34 January 6 detainees penned a letter, demanding they be transferred to the Guantanamo Bay prison camp so that they could receive cooked meals, sunlight, freedom of religion, exercise, entertainment, and be treated like human beings.
If the transfer was to ever be approved, the J6 political prisoners could at least rest easy knowing that Ron DeSantis is no longer overseeing the torture of inmates at Guantanamo Bay, which is what he did during the Iraq war, as has been detailed by former prisoners who later lambasted DeSantis for his cruel and inhumane treatment, and his cover up of human rights violations under the disgraced administration of George W. Bush.
Not only has Governor DeSantis publicly applauded Capitol Police for hunting down Trump supporters and hauling them to prison, he even commended Capitol Police for doing an “admiral job”, after they murdered Ashli Babbitt (a veteran) and Rosanne Boyland. Not only did Governor DeSantis commend the Capitol Police after they murdered Ashli Babbitt and Rosanne Boyland, and not only did he signal his approval when Trump supporters in Florida were being arrested for simply attending J6, but he has actively assisted the Capitol Police in their efforts to target Floridians, who make up the highest number of January 6th defendants out of any state.comment image
Let that sink in. Governor DeSantis allowed the U.S. Capitol Police to establish a field office in Tampa — nearly 1,000 miles away from Washington, D.C.!
One of the stated goals of this field office was to work with Florida state law enforcement to locate and arrest as many January 6th participants as possible. One would think that Governor DeSantis, who prides himself on being the Governor of “the free state of Florida” (in name only of course) would respect American’s right to protest, as well as their right to bear arms, as is outlined in both the First and Second Amendments of the United States Constitution. However, DeSantis is the furthest thing from a free speech absolutist, and as an advocate for unconstitutional “Red Flag” laws, he is also certainly not a staunch gun-rights advocate.
As Governor of Florida, DeSantis has further demonstrated his disdain for the right to political protest and the right to peacefully assemble when he championed a bill that criminalizes non-violent protests outside of “residential areas”. His bill is a direct violation of the First Amendment…” …….

I honestly can’t remember why we had to close those, do you?

They were “inhumane” and supplanted by “community care.” I honestly don’t recall when, tho. Before I moved back here in 2009 because that was what HB and SIL did – they were “home health care providers” for developmentally handicapped adult women. Usually just one at a time but 2 after Seth signed on with a different agency.

No, they are embedded in homes within the community, go to school or training programs, work as apprentices, etc., etc. We had a gal named Callie who worked at the museum cleaning – I also knew her through the CC programs since I was a licensed respite provider for HB and SIL. That’s also where I did my Red Cross re-cert, which was required. In addition to that, Michael used to do Karaoke for one of the agency’s Christmas parties, the one Callie was with. I helped him the year he was on crutches after falling off the ladder and crushing his heal. Callie LOVED to get up and sing and she was really quite good!
But these are all very low-level cases and there are a lot that just cannot be properly cared for that way and still keep the public safe. Those are the ones who NEED the asylums, and we need them there!
