At our house we only made a gingerbread house once.  I bought a kit and with minimal assistance from me, the kids assembled and decorated it.  We left it in the center of the dining room table while they went up to their rooms to finish homework and I did some cleaning.  The dog—a large yellow lab—jumped onto the table and bit a piece off.  It obviously didn’t agree with him because he threw it up all over the rest of the house. End of gingerbread making at our house…lol

  17. Well, we’ve got snow coming down…..very fine flakes but already accumulating about 1/2 inch and temp has dropped in the last 5 minutes from 35 to 32. I opened the door to look for LM’s dish to re-fill it, turned and set it on the chair, turned back to the door and here he came, lickety-split (ooh, another phrase to research – added to my list). I think he was in my bushes out front, waiting for me. Of course, Jake is at the door growling while I went to fill the dish. LM rubbed and purred, enjoying my petting, then tucked in, as usual.

    Former President Donald Trump dined with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, at his Mar-a-Lago resort on Nov. 22, drawing criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. The dinner occurred after Ye made a series of antisemitic remarks that prompted several companies to cut ties with him, according to Fortune.

    A viral Dec. 7 Instagram video appears to show Trump defending Ye: “Kanye has some some (sic) stuff recently that people don’t agree with,” reads the video’s on-screen text, which is paired with what sounds like matching audio from Trump. “But I just can’t be upset with the man who made graduation.”

    Graduation is the title of Ye’s 2007 album. The video appears to have originated on TikTok, where it was liked nearly 600,000 times. The Instagram iteration was liked more than 500 times in less than a week. But the audio track has been altered. The footage of Trump originated from a 2017 interview in which he didn’t discuss Ye.

    USA TODAY was unable to contact the TikTok user but reached out to the Instagram user, who said the video was edited as a joke. The video footage of Trump originated from his 2017 interview with NBC anchor Lester Holt. A close look at the viral video shows Trump’s lips don’t quite match up with the words attributed to him.

    Footage from that interview confirms the former president did not mention the rapper during the interview. Instead, he discussed his plans to fire FBI Director James Comey and the FBI investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election. USA TODAY found no evidence Trump said the words attributed to him in the video’s text anywhere else either.

    Defending Ye by bringing up his album “Graduation” is part of a recent online trend following the rapper’s various controversial remarks.

    EXCERPT: “Jeep has recalled nearly 63,000 plug-in hybrid Wranglers due to a software glitch that could shut the engine down and cause a vehicle crash without warning. Dealers have been banned from selling any more of these vehicles until proper repairs can be made.

    According to a notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), all of the 62,909 vehicles that are covered by the recall have this potentially dangerous defect. It affects 2021 and 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models with 2.0L Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle engines.

    The Jeeps in question could experience an engine shutdown as a result of “diagnostic reactions to faults caused by loss of communication,” according to the notice. Jeep will be updating calibration software for the vehicle’s hybrid control processor, auxiliary hybrid control processor and transmission control module to correct the problem, according to the NHTSA.

    For many hybrid Jeep owners, the recall was a long time coming. Jeep’s parent company, Chrysler, started investigating reports of the problem in September of 2021. After conducting an analysis that took longer than a year, they found multiple complaints and warranty claims. So far, two accidents and one injury have been potentially linked to the problem.”

    Until just a few weeks ago, Roth was quietly one of the most powerful figures in the whole country — and in fact the world — despite holding no elected office and not even being particularly rich. And thanks to a recent interview, it’s obvious what a brittle, fragile person Roth was in his position. In a new interview, Roth justified banning the sitting President of the United States because Twitter’s content moderation staff (i.e. himself) were “traumatized” by watching January 6 footage. Even more ridiculous, Roth said the Twitter accounts Libs of TikTok and the satirical Babylon Bee were “dangerous” and should be handled “start[ing] from the premise that it’s fucked up.”

    But we’re not here for any of that today. We’re here to talk about Roth’s gay sex dissertation — the one that somebody is desperately trying to wipe from the Internet now. Many voices have needled Roth about the fact that before he took command of the Twitter Gestapo, Roth collected — we won’t say earned — a PhD in communications for a dissertation on the gay hookup app Grindr.

    But needling Roth is perhaps too easy. Soon, we thought, “Hey, why not actually read it?” Big mistake. This dissertation managed to be both unreadable and disgusting at the same-time—combining the cognitive hygiene of a gas station bathroom stall with the circumlocution of a dollar-store Judith Butler.

    Luckily, we were able to access and read it, because on Sunday, UPenn suddenly yanked down the paper. Its website stated that Twitter’s former chief censor’s gay sex app dissertation had been “withdrawn.” The paper is also still available on the Wayback Machine, but given how politically pliable that has proven in recent months, it may soon disappear there also. Consider just downloading it directly here.

    Despite its title, “Gay Data” actually has very little data in it. Instead, it’s a 300-page deluge of jargon and analysis of Grindr and its fellow gay dating apps. We speculate that we may have been the first people to even read the dissertation in full. And yes, we’re including Roth’s professors, and perhaps even Roth himself.

    Entire Article @ DCNF: “Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee shot down Republicans’ attempt to investigate gender ideology in the military in a Tuesday vote as the Pentagon comes under fire from conservative lawmakers for an emphasis on woke policies.

    The resolution of inquiry, led by Republican Rep. Andrew Clyde of Georgia, would have required the Department of Defense (DOD) to hand over records containing references to a list of terms related to “woke” gender ideology, transgenderism and gender transitioning. However, the Democrat majority on the committee voted against the resolution, arguing in the hearing that Republicans have exploited the measure to gain political points ahead of a planned litany of inquiries into the Biden administration come January.

Kirby said in a briefing.

    “This is the mother of all fishing expeditions,” Democratic committee chairman Adam Smith of Washington said at the hearing, arguing the request would overburden the Pentagon “toward no particular purpose.”

    GOP representatives on the committee countered that the woke policies had frightened off possible recruits and contributed to an overall weakening of the force. “The woke ideology that Secretary [Lloyd] Austin has advanced has harmed our military,” said Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida.

    The resolution is necessary “because we don’t get straight answers when we ask [the Secretary of Defense and top military leadership] directly” regarding queries about wokeness and Critical Race Theory in the military, Gaetz said, adding that Secretary Austin repeatedly shut down their verbal interactions.

    Instances such as the Air Force Academy’s “gender inclusive” classes and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs inclusion of free hormone replacement therapy in its TRICARE medical coverage for former service members have also concerned Republican lawmakers.

    Republican Alabama Rep. Mike Rogers has promised that the House will move to investigate DOD when Republicans take the majority in 2023 in a statement ahead of the vote. “Our troops should not be the vanguard for the left’s social agenda,” he said.”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “I am back on Twitter. I didn’t grovel, ask or fill out a form – they just re-instated me. Thank you Elon Musk for shining a light into a dark closet. This is all good, and (amazingly) we went from 492,000 followers on Monday to around 720,000 followers today.

    It is wonderful to connect with old friends on Twitter, and it is crazy to see people jumping on to follow me. Yes, it still can be a toxic swamp and some people seem to revel in their inner ugly because they can. Yes, there is an attention getting syndrome where some act out, bully, and tease for attention. Yes, the troll swarms are awful and lead to bizarre consensus driven opinions – for which there has been no like in history.

    But other people on Twitter and different social media venues, the vast majority, are there to learn, to find community, get news and connect to people. Don’t forget so many other venues, such as GETTR, GAB, Truth Social – are all important to me still. Particularly, GETTR – where I have lots of friends and colleagues. And of course, here – as long as we have Substack- is my home base, where this community of subscribers who comment, share and really speak to each other – resides.

    The one thing that we have learned from social media and the internet is that nothing is forever. That things can change overnight and we have to be ready to move rapidly when the censors, the shadow-banning, or the sale and shut-downs happen. We have to keep many channels and lines of communication open. That means having multiple email addresses, search engines and browsers available. It is a crazy world we all find ourselves in.

    Which is why we must also remember to keep ourselves in the physical world. The world of the physical – whatever passion makes you happy is so important to stay grounded. Being a “doer,” even if you are in the “laptop class”, is critical to maintaining balance. Being in the physical world allows me to remember that I am just one person in the fight that literally millions of people are now involved in. That is – medical freedom, decentralization, personal sovereignty, right to privacy – basically fighting against the new world order. But in the end, I am just one person. A person who puts their socks on the same as you. Who does chores, feeds the dogs, and talks to strangers, friends and family in the physical. This connection is the reality of our world – we (I) must not forget that.

    This brings me to today’s actual topic for the Substack.

    Hope and Reconciliation — Those that know me well, know that although I am rare to anger, and generally I am very tolerant of people, I can take offense. This is particularly true when someone or an organization attacks me again and again. When I do, it is hard to me to be the better person and take the high road.

    I have no interest in fighting with people or organizations. It literally is not in my nature. Yes, I have a lot of passion but I don’t like to fight. I certainly have no interest in hurting the medical freedom movement.

    Some of you may remember the two (opposing) Substack articles that guest writers wrote regarding the constitutional convention topic. After the first Substack came out against a constitutional convention, one of the pro-constitutional convention organizations (it doesn’t matter who and I don’t hold it against them) released what they thought was my personal email to their volunteers with directions to write to me to convince me that a constitutional convention was good and that they should have an opportunity to also write a Substack also. Jill got flooded with hundreds of emails. Some of these emails were extremely hostile, even threatening. Frankly, it really upset me, because when Jill is threatened or is unhappy, I am unhappy. However, I took the high road and allowed a pro-constitutional convention article to be published with a different guest author. Then you, my readers, hashed it out in the comments.

    I just stayed out of it. I don’t know if we solved anything, but I do think that both sides were presented, people were allowed to make their own decisions and at some level, I do believe that both pro and anti constitutional convention points of view were allowed to peek under the hood of the other side and maybe find just a little bit of common ground. Because these two sides have a lot more in common than not. It is possible to find common ground, even with those on the “other side” – whatever that side may be. So long as we stay focused on the topic and do not resort to defamation and ad hominem attacks. Sometimes it happens all at once, and sometimes it takes baby steps to get there. I personally, am willing to speak with anyone who wishes to speak to me about their grievances and to try to find a way to move forward.

    For me personally, I internalize the anger, the hurt – and try to do what is best, to make thing right. To talk. To find common ground.

    This is a long, winding way to write that as Christmas, the holidays and 2023 are close, many of us are confronted by having to be around people who we may have grievances with. Sometimes this takes the form of petty jealousy, competition or just alpha to alpha chest beating gone sour. Sometimes it is about politics or more recently, COVID-19 policies and mandates. But maybe it is time to find a way to reconcile differences and find common ground.

    Our time on this earth, in this form – is very short. We have to allow ourselves and others the ability to forgive. To allow for that opening. We don’t want to tear each other apart over and over again, we have to keep trying to forgive and to reach those who may be angry with us or we with them.

    If we are hurting ourselves, our loved ones, our family or even our workers by holding on to grudges and grievances, maybe it is time to put them aside. Maybe it is time to talk to each other, rather than fighting or fighting by proxy. I know that over time – even recently, I have privately reached out to people, and have held out that olive branch.

    I believe that love and community is the key to our individual and collective happiness. Having healthy relations is critical to our wellbeing. So, love your fellow man and woman and let’s make 2023 a year where we find common ground and build a better future for ourselves and our children.”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Ivermectin is the only drug with a five-star gold standard of effectiveness in the world.” Back in late fall, truth-telling doctors worldwide were predicting that this ‘flu season would likely be a difficult one. The reasons are manifold, not least among them the debilitated immune systems of billions of people worldwide, thanks to the covid experimental injection. Then there are the children, their immune systems unable to cope due to their lack of exposure to common childhood pathogens thanks to lockdown and masking measures, as well as the “vaccine.” This has destroyed herd immunity. Dr. Chris Alan Shoemaker, a Toronto clinician and physician has been an early truth teller throughout the covid story.

    “If you’re more immune damaged, you are more likely to suffer from inappropriate or uncomfortable or too frequent infections. But in fact, the whole of society is affected when 80 to 85% of society has received this immune damaging agent. So, no matter who you are, vaccinated or unvaccinated, all are suffering because 80% of us are immune damaged,” Dr. Shoemaker said in an exclusive interview for RAIR Foundation USA. “And that is what has led to this being the worst winter in terms of ‘flu issues, respiratory syncytial virus issues (RSV), and other generalized immune issues that are putting pediatric cases through the roof in the eastern part of Canada especially. The vaccine has damaged immune systems. It’s immune-damaged everybody who’s still walking around alive.”

    On the ground, the immune system destroying properties of the covid shot has produced the opposite of herd immunity. Now, only about 15% of the Canadian population – those who resisted the government propaganda and extreme social pressure to get vaccinated – are the small herd benefitting from this phenomenon. The same is true to a greater or lesser extent worldwide, depending on levels of vaccination.

    Ivermectin — Throughout the pandemic, a growing number of medics have come to trust Ivermectin as a safe and effective treatment for covid, both in a preventative function and at every stage of the progression of the disease. “There’s study after study – even a year ago – showed that Ivermectin was extremely effective at improving early covid and mid covid. And the studies, even more recently, are showing its fantastic ability to help in late covid,” says Dr. Shoemaker. “In fact, the current study I just reviewed today showed a 75% rate of oxygen improvement in ICU within four hours of being given Ivermectin. What many people described a year ago, which was certain anecdotal evidence of certain patients doing wonderfully in the hospital if their families smuggled in the Ivermectin. Now we have official scientists actually doing it and recording it.”

    Ivermectin, explains Dr. Shoemaker, stops the rouleaux formation, which means that it stops the red blood cells from rolling up on themselves and turning into tubes, which are effectively tiny blockages to the heart and lung vessels. When the rouleaux formations are broken up by Ivermectin, difficulty with respiration diminishes. It also helps with the more serious blood clots in larger vessels. “It’s the only drug with the five-star gold standard of effectiveness in the world,” says Dr. Shoemaker. “Hydroxychloroquine has four-and-a-half-star effectiveness. It’s darn good, too. It’s not quite so good in the late stages of covid. The one thing that is guaranteed to harm you in ICU is Remdesivir. It is virtually a lethal medication when given to covid patients.”

    However, Ivermectin is still extremely difficult to get in many countries – Canada among them – where it was mysteriously removed from shelves when its effectiveness became apparent. “There’s no confusion as to why it’s difficult [to obtain]. It’s difficult because the College of Pharmacy and the College of Physicians and Surgeons have bowed to what they were told to do by Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada,” says Dr. Shoemaker. “We’re in the backwoods here. Both Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine were proven over 40 and 45 years to be absolutely safe for human use. Both of them are marvelous medicines. This has never happened before 2019. Even outside agencies stopped an individual doctor from choosing a medication already on the medical list of approved medications for safety. There is something else going on here. That’s for sure.”

    Shedding — For the unvaccinated, the question of shedding is an increasingly confusing one. Are those who chose not to take the experimental mRNA shot being contaminated by those who did? There has been much discussion on this topic. Dr. Shoemaker prefers to use the word exuding. This is a term previously used with cancer patients and chemotherapy, whereby family members were advised to take precautions around patients during the first 48 hours following treatment. “We will know that chemicals can exude out subtly from the body, the breath, the urine, etc. And so, could spike protein do the same? Yes, it could.”

    Spike Protein — Dr. Shoemaker does not see this as a huge threat, however. “I think it’s the least dangerous way of being exposed to spike protein,” he says. “A slightly more severe way of being exposed to the spike protein is to get a true, massive coronavirus infection of your own. The most severe way of getting exposed to spike proteins is to have 40,000 billion spikes injected into your shoulder. And that’s why our message has to be to everyone; it has now reached the clear point, it’s time to stop the shots.”

    But what of the damage the spike protein does to the body? It targets the most vulnerable areas. “The three areas that they (spike proteins) get to the easiest are the immune system through the spleen and bone marrow, the ovarian system, and the brain system. It can certainly get to the heart as well, causing myocarditis,” says Dr. Shoemaker. “So we are inheriting fertility, we’re affecting our immunity and our chance to have a normal lifespan, and we’re affecting our cognition, the way that we can be normal, ethical, thinking coherent humans.”

    For the immediate future, Dr. Shoemaker suggests that viral infections will regress to more normal levels within three to four months. And if Canadian governmental agencies are truly in the business of saving lives, he would also like to see the widespread availability of Ivermectin through pharmacies as an over-the-counter medication. “Those of us who are on the side of science, those of us who were willing to look at all sides, we are about saving Canadian lives,” he says.”

    “School District President Resigns After Having High School Kids at ‘Naughty’ Christmas Party”

    On one hand, I am grateful that I don’t have to worry about what might happen to my kids at school. On the other hand, I still worry about what might happen to my grandkids, who are still in school. One does not need to do a comprehensive internet search to find examples of teachers and school board members promoting objectionable ideologies or subjecting students to prurient and illegal sexual activities. I’ll leave that search to you if you think you can do it and still keep your lunch down.

    Our latest inductee into the Educator’s Hall of Shame is one Steven Llanusa. Llanusa is the former president of the Claremont Unified School District in Los Angeles County, Calif. Llanusa’s bio has been removed from the district website, and he has resigned. Here’s why.

    According to CBS, on December 3, Llanusa hosted a holiday party at his home. And he invited the choir from one of the district’s high schools to perform. He also agreed to pay for the performance to help with a fundraiser. All well and good so far, right? Unfortunately, that is about as innocent as it got. As it turned out, this was a “naughty” holiday party, because of course, people feel the need to sexualize everything, including Christmas and high school students. The choir members waited an hour to perform. The party had an open bar, and the students were offered alcohol. They were also treated to the sight of shirtless male dancers and a “dirty Santa.”

    The school board met with its legal counsel and released the following statement via Facebook:

    “We are appalled by the allegations, which are understandably causing distraction, disruption and pain, as expressed in community members’ messages to the Board and Superintendent. Please know that we receive and read your messages, and we take your concerns very seriously. Though the board cannot require Mr. Llanusa’s resignation, we encourage him to do so in order to begin the process of healing and returning our focus to students and their well-being.”

    There are those who would argue that there was no harm and no foul since students are already sexualized by popular culture, social media, and the rest of the garbage that is making America a cesspool. And if that is the case, do we really need district administrators contributing to the problem? I shouldn’t even have to ask that question.

    Parents, grandparents, and caregivers: pay attention to what goes on in your child’s classroom and to who is making decisions about his or her education. You have every right to any and all information you may want. Your schools answer to you. It is never the other way around.”

    The bill on national minorities’ rights was supported by 324 MPs, with just 226 votes needed for its adoption. The legislation was a key condition required for Ukraine to start negotiations on its accession to the European Union.

    Guaranteeing social, economic, cultural, and linguistic rights — The bill lays down the definition of “national minorities (communities),” the rights and obligations of persons belonging to national minorities, the rights of their representatives, and the specific features of public policy to enforce them, as well as the powers of the central executive body in the field of the protection of persons belonging to national minorities.

    Article 5 of the law guarantees to citizens of Ukraine the social, economic, cultural, and linguistic rights and freedoms laid down in the Constitution, regardless of their ethnic origin, whether they belong to national minorities or not, news agency Interfax-Ukraine reported.

    According to the news agency, under the law, a person belonging to a national minority has the right to self-identity; freedom of association and peaceful assembly; freedom of opinion, belief, thought, speech, conscience, and religion; and freedom to participate in political, economic, and social life. The right to use the national language and to preserve the cultural identity of the community is also enshrined in the legislation.

    The Hungarian government and the organizations of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia have objected to the language article of the Education Law adopted in 2018, as well as the 2019 law on the functioning of Ukrainian as the state language (commonly known as the Language Law), because they see them as a violation of the rights of minorities. They have thus been urging Kyiv for years to adopt legislation guaranteeing the protection of minorities in Ukraine.”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Poland has long been opposed to illegal immigration or migrant quotas, but the country will be forced to receive potentially thousands of illegal migrants in the near future, as they can gain citizenship in Poland after just one year.

    The problem has to do with Belarus’ decision to allow thousands of migrants to cross into Polish territory over the last few years, which Poland has described as a form of “hybrid warfare.” While those migrants usually used Poland as a transit country, Poland remains the first EU country they set foot in within the European Union. That means all EU countries have the right to send those migrants back to Poland.

    EU countries have already transferred 353 foreigners to Poland in the past four months, including 76 foreigners who illegally crossed Poland’s border with Belarus. Most of them, 229, were sent back from Germany, 27 from Norway, and 25 from Sweden. Seventy migrants who illegally crossed the Polish-Belarusian border have come back from Germany and six from France.

    Poland is forced to accept the migrants due to a regulation of the European Parliament, the so-called Dublin III from 2013. Under the regulation, when it is proven that a person entered an EU member state illegally from a third country, the EU member is responsible for processing the person’s application for international protection.

    A migrant is also sent back if they submitted an application in one EU country and then left for another without waiting for a decision. This is the case for many people who cross illegally into Poland and apply for asylum, claiming they had to flee their countries. In 10 randomly selected cases regarding foreigners sent to Poland from Germany, nine of them filed asylum applications or declared the will to continue the previous procedure. Two of them received the protection, two cases are underway, and five escaped, again.

    For Poland, which suffered a migration crisis on the border with Belarus, this means receiving thousands of migrants once again. Due to the Ukraine war and the refugee wave from that country, the Polish government asked for a temporary suspension of migrant returns until the end of July. After this time, Poland is obliged to receive “its migrants.” “Most of those migrants are citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan,” says spokesperson for the headquarters of the Border Guard, Anna Michalska.

    The arriving migrants is a great logistical problem as well since the authorities need to start administrative works to house them. Additionally, Poland has to cover the upkeep costs of migrants plus their allowance and medical insurance.

    “Poland’s location, we have a long EU external border, means that foreigners cross our border, despite the fact that they do not intend to stay here,” said Michalska, adding that if the migrants manage to get to Western European countries, they are sent back to Poland in the end.

    In Poland, migrants receive financial assistance, thanks to which they can get full payments for housing. And after just one year, migrants can acquire Polish citizenship.”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “An 88-year-old man, who was brutally attacked by brothers Mohamed K. and Hichem K. in the cellar of his apartment building in France, has died of his injuries. Both brothers have been known to the police for years, and one has been charged with manslaughter after confessing to the crime.

    The victim, known as Jean T. was assaulted on the evening of Monday, Dec. 5, with the incident first reported by the victim’s wife after she found her husband unconscious and bleeding in the common area of their residence, Le Parisien newspaper reported. The elderly man was discovered with multiple blows to the head, a fractured jaw, and injuries to his legs. However, ambulance personnel initially concluded that his injuries were due to a fall, and the police logged the case an accident.

    The son of the man, however, was unsure the case was an accident. First, the injuries did not appear to be the result of a “fall,” and second, his father’s keys and glasses were missing when the body was found. The son had a doctor inspect the elderly victim. He agreed that the injuries did not appear to be the result of a simple fall. Forensic technicians at the scene also found the victim’s glasses and traces of blood quite a distance away from where the alleged accident took place.

    The case also had another lead. On the day of the incident, the wife of Jean T. said she saw a man sitting on a discarded couch in another area of the building, which was just a few meters away where the battered body of Jean T. was found. It turned out the man the wife saw was 30-year-old Hichem K., a man with French citizenship who has a long criminal history related to drug trafficking and violence.

    When police arrested Hichem K., they also searched his home. There, they found his shoes soaked in the blood, which testing confirmed was the blood of the 88-year-old victim. During a police interview, he initially denied he was involved in any assault. However, when confronted with the fact that the blood on the shoes was of the victim, he began to breakdown and confessed to the entire assault. He also indicated that the beating began after the elderly man made a comment about the two brothers being in the common area.

    His brother Mohamed is also suspected of participating, but he has not been charged as he was hospitalized in a psychiatric institution after giving incoherent remarks to police.

    According to BFMTV, the mayor of Bezons, Nessrine Menhaouara, denounced an incomprehensible “act of barbarism.”

    She referred to a “quiet residence, relatively well maintained in a HLM (low-income housing) estate” where “a homogeneous public” lives.”

    I just got food from the local church food pantry again today. On & off throughout the Spring & beyond, since hubby was out of work & we’d had no income for months I’ll periodically partake of the blessing to help make ends meet…

    Anyway a few weeks back I’d asked about how busy they were. The woman said at the time they’d had their largest distribution of food like the week before Thanksgiving for 480 families, I believe. Since there’s just a 2 hour window to get food that must have been quit the production.

    This week I went for food again & they were significantly down on what they were providing. This is the First Time they did not provide a gallon of milk. They had formerly provided fresh milk & a packet of powdered milk that reconstituted to a gallon most times I’d been. Granted this time I went toward the latter part of the distribution time so they will not have as much to give then as at the beginning.

    They provided a flyer saying that after next week they will be done for the year & only passing out food 2 weeks of the month instead of weekly. This was because of the prohibitive increase in the cost of food & so they are getting less from Gleaners, I believe, where they get the food they distribute.

    In the Summer time, around July 4th, they had a week off from food distribution & they provided a flyer listing other places where people could receive food. This time no such info was provided, just a notice of how sorry they were that those changes might represent a hardship for people who have relied on this church’s generosity.

    I wonder if this represents a tightening of the belt across other food provision services?

    Today’s line was quite short when I arrived. The previous time I went a few weeks ago the line snaked for more blocks in the nearby neighborhood than I’d ever seen.
