What Shall We Make Today?

In honor of National Pot Pie Day, we’re making a Pillsbury classic—chicken pot pie! The recipe, pictures, and tips come from the Pillsbury website.

Ingredients

Crust

1 box (14.1 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Pie Crusts (2 Count), softened as directed on box

Filling

1/3 cup butter or margarine

1/3 cup chopped onion

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 3/4 cups Progresso™ chicken broth (from 32-oz carton)

1/2 cup milk

2 1/2 cups shredded cooked chicken or turkey

2 cups frozen mixed vegetables, thawed

Steps

Heat oven to 425°F. Prepare pie crusts as directed on box for Two-Crust Pie using 9-inch glass pie pan.

In 2-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion; cook 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper until well blended. Gradually stir in broth and milk, cooking and stirring until bubbly and thickened.

Stir in chicken and mixed vegetables. Remove from heat. Spoon chicken mixture into crust-lined pan. Top with second crust; seal edge and flute. Cut slits in several places in top crust.

Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown. During last 15 to 20 minutes of baking, cover crust edge with strips of foil to prevent excessive browning. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Tips from the Pillsbury Kitchens

tip 1

Make a foil collar (or pie crust shield) to protect the edges of the pastry from over browning. Place strips of foil to cover crust during the last 15 or 20 minutes of baking.

tip 2

A standard 9-inch glass pie plate works best for this recipe.

tip 3

The only complicated part of making a pot pie is the pastry. By using a refrigerated dough you’re left with making a quick, savory gravy that can be filled with leftover cooked chicken, turkey, or ham and a good handful of veggies. A dash of poultry seasoning or some finely chopped fresh sage will enhance the flavor of the sauce.

tip 4

To Make Chicken Filling Ahead: prepare as directed in recipe. Spoon into airtight container; cover. Refrigerate up to 1 day. To bake, pour filling into 2-quart saucepan, heat over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently or until thoroughly heated. Assemble, fill and bake pie as directed in recipe.

tip 5

To Freeze Chicken Filling: prepare as directed in recipe. Cool, uncovered in refrigerator 30 minutes. Spoon mixture into 1-gallon freezer food storage plastic bag, leaving 1/2 to 1-inch at top of bag for expansion; seal. Freeze up to 1 month. To bake, thaw mixture overnight in refrigerator. Pour into 2-quart saucepan, heat over medium heat, 5 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently or until thoroughly heated. Assemble, fill and bake pie as directed in recipe.

    1. Good morning Pat!58°F here this morning. Cooled down to 80° yesterday and later today. Got a 10 minute sprinkle, at best. Going to mow shortly while the dew is still on the grass to keep the dust down. 😎

            1. Work is going well for her. We are still getting settled though. Can’t wait for our house to sell and for us to move into the other house on the property. We will most likely buy a place in town to have as a rental for extra income.

    2. Morning, Pat! I do love pot pies but…..well, you know me! Frozen section and Marie’s pies work quite well! LOL – it was 51 when I got up at 7:30. I was awake earlier but the rain started and I decided to snuggle down for a little longer. The rain won’t last long but it saves me from watering today at least. Getting windy now…..

  3. snakes in massachusettes… the dems want to give illegals drivers licenses –where they are automatically registered to vote (EVEN THO THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE IN FEDERAL ELECTIONS)…citizens wanted it on the ballot so they collected enough signatures but when they presented it to the SOS for inclusion in the voting information handbook–OOOPS they missed the deadline for printing…slick dem trick
    fta
The driver’s licenses for Illegals ballot question is not in the booklet. Why? The booklet says,

As required by state law, this book contains information on ballot questions submitted by July 6, 2022.

Additional ballot questions submitted after the printing deadline may appear on your ballot.

The State never told the signature organizers that there was a “printing deadline” in order for the ballot question to appear in the booklet. The organizers were told that the deadline for verified signatures was early September, but were never told that they would long have missed the so-called “printing deadline.”

I worked in the consumer electronics products manufacturing world for many decades, in marketing. Some of the product was manufactured domestically; some of it came in from overseas. Many times, there would be last-minute changes to the product’s specifications or description. In that case, we’d tell the overseas factory to leave out the owner’s manuals. We’d make those last-minute updates to the manuals ourselves, have it printed locally, and slip them into the cartons when the shipment arrived. Simple. Know how long it takes a commercial printer to print several thousand 16- or 32-page owner’s manuals? Maybe two days.

The election is November 8th, 2022. These Information for Voters booklets could be printed and mailed to a few million households in no time flat. A week. Ten days, tops. We just received it in the mail, so it could easily have been printed as late as early September. The license initiative qualified for the ballot two weeks ago. That question could and should be in this booklet.

But Massachusetts Democrat Secretary of State William Galvin, along with the Massachusetts Democratic election machine, didn’t want it in the booklet. So they fabricated some arbitrary, uncheckable “printing deadline” — which any business veteran knows is totally fake — and used that as an excuse to exclude a ballot question from the booklet that would very likely go against them. Now, with most voters unaware of the license issue, the question — which will now be sprung by surprise on voters on the ballot since it wasn’t in the info booklet — will either be approved by ignorant voters or skipped over altogether by most voters.

This is insidious voter fraud. Democrats do this kind of thing all across the country and they’re really good at it. Republicans need to wake up.

  6. EXCERPT from Trending Politics: “David Kerner, the commissioner of Palm Beach county, recently announced that he would be actively campaigning for DeSantis’s reelection as Florida’s Governor.

Kerner, now the commissioner, had previously served as the county’s mayor. Palm Beach country is one of the three largest counties in the state, which is also left-leaning. However, the commissioner said he could not allow the circumstances to silence him into letting Floridians make the worst decision.

The Ex-democrat said, “Every day until November 8, I will campaign for Governor DeSantis and on November 8, I will vote for Governor DeSantis. And today, I proudly endorse Governor Ron DeSantis for reelection as the Governor of the great state of Florida.”

Kerner added, “As an aside, Governor, I am very proud that you felt that my endorsement was worthy of acceptance. And I’m so delighted that we’ve had this opportunity to be here in public with the community to make it official.”

The commissioner added that supporting DeSantis’s reelection was a remotely easy decision for him despite what other people might think, considering the circumstances. However, he noted that Desantis is one of the best governors Florida has seen and letting him go so easily will be a loss for Floridians.

He said, “This was not the proverbial lesser of two evils. Governor DeSantis has demonstrated himself beyond worthy of the humbling duties of this office. And he has done so with the level of dignity, purpose, and respect that is lost in the public sphere today. It may come as a shock to many of you, or at least many of my friends that as a Democratic elected officer in deep blue Palm Beach County, I’m endorsing Republican Governor.”

  7. Entire Article from Conservative Brief: “Fox News hosts Greg Gutfeld and Geraldo Rivera got into a screaming match over Joe Biden’s border crisis and it appears that it was all for nothing. During a segment on The Five, the table was discussing Joe Biden’s border crisis and reports of roughly 15,000 Haitian migrants coming to the U.S.

Things took a turn when Rivera misinterpreted a comment made by Gutfeld. Gutfeld was detailing how Democrats and their allies in the media “are neglecting rising crime rates in U.S. cities,” accusing them of “ignoring rampant violent crime that started last summer.”

“All of our cities are degraded, dangerous –,” Gutfeld started before he was interrupted by Rivera. “Stop, Geraldo. Let me finish. I let you talk for god knows how long,” Gutfeld said. After Gutfeld finished his point, Rivera later “revisited his remarks, and implied Gutfeld was suggesting the migrants would commit crimes if allowed in the country.”

“I have to rebut what Greg said about Haitian immigrants and crime,” said Rivera, who challenged his cohost to find evidence linking Haitian immigrants and rises in crime, which was not alleged by Gutfeld, who understandably became agitated.

The pair then went at it:

GUTFELD: Oh my god. You are so wrong, Geraldo.
RIVERA: What does crime have to do with these people? You know what their crime is?
GUTFELD: Jesus Christ, you are totally misreading this! I was talking about how the media covers the story!
    RIVERA: These–
GUTFELD: No, no because you screwed up. It’s embarrassing, Geraldo. You’re embarrassing me.
    RIVERA: Well, be embarrassed.
    GUTFELD: No, because you’re wrong!
    [CROSSTALK]
GUTFELD: No, no, no, no. Let me respond to your lie to your face! I was talking about how the media ignored a story about the crime issue! It wasn’t about Haiti! Jesus! Apologize!
    [CROSSTALK]
RIVERA: You wanted to make this stereotypical linkage. And Haitians have been screaming–
GUTFELD: That is so wrong. So wrong.

Then, Rivera apologized to Gutfeld when “The Five” co-host Dana Perino read the transcript to defend Gutfeld. “He did not say Haitians are causing crime to go up,” Perino asserted. “I apologize, Greg,” Rivera told Gutfeld. “I accept your apology,” Gutfeld replied.

“My problem with what you said is the juxtaposition, even though you did not intend it between violent crime, which is a separate topic and you made that clear in the point and that’s why I apologize and the Haitian immigrants,” Rivera added.

“We cannot turn into ‘The View’ and become emotional about things,” Gutfeld noted.”

  9. EXCERPTS: “When Ron DeSantis is consulting renowned experts about whether or not to run for president in 2024, the man he is most likely to listen to is President Chris Christie. Well, not literally listen. He’ll instead learn from the potential prezzy who ended up presiding in network green rooms instead of the White House because he declined to run when he had his big – well, everything about him is big – chance in 2012. The Gov will also look to the lessons of President Mario Cuomo. These two guys hesitated and missed their window, just like there are some folks – Mitt Romney, John Kerry, Felonia Milhouse von Pantsuit – who never actually had a window at all yet still tried to dive through one and ended up defenestrating themselves.

Remember a decade ago when we had Christiemania, when he was a breath of fresh air blowing away lib pieties after an improbable New Jersey governor win? And instead of striking while the presidential iron was hot, he failed to go for it, and now he will never be president of anything except maybe the International Society to Prevent Cardio. Mario Cuomo similarly blew it in the 80s. He was the Dem candidate who sped up the Dems’ heartbeats with his unapologetic defense of liberal values. He had his shot, and played Hamlet, and never became president. Today, he’s remembered only for being the father of two big creeps.
    ——————
The 2024 cycle is undoubtedly Ron DeSantis’s moment. He won a first election that everyone expected him to lose as the governor of the Free State of Florida. He will win a crushing victory over secret lizard-person Charlie Crist this November. And he has set about owning the libs hard not merely by humiliating them for their hypocrisy with awesome moves like sending illegals to Martha’s Vineyard but with substantive conservative policies that are sucking the remaining productive people out of hellscapes like New York and California.
    ——————
If Donald Trump was not still in the picture, he would be the unquestioned frontrunner. But Donald Trump is in the picture.

And he has every right to be. Let’s cut the baloney the regime media keeps serving up. This was a great president who made huge substantive improvements to the country. By defeating Bill Clinton’s wizened baby oven – maybe – Trump literally saved the Constitution. And he would have done even more but for an indisputably questionable election and the unprecedented, fully-fascist attacks of the Establishment and their media and bureaucratic allies.

There are good reasons for Trump to run, and good reasons for him not to, and none of them matter because the decision is Trump’s. The smart money says he will go for it.
    ——————
But soon, they will have to think about it. They will have to start weighing the alternatives. The GOP base loves only one thing more than Donald Trump, and that’s winning. Ron DeSantis is a proven winner. Donald Trump has the entire axis of evil gunning for him. The GOP could very well offer The Donald a gold watch and a handshake once they think it over.

    Or not.

But one thing is undeniable. Ron DeSantis is the best positioned to beat Trump of any Republican who might run. And, unlike Trump, he has no firm ceiling for votes in the general. If Trump wins it will be a squeaker – it’s just a function of how many losers hate him. DeSantis has no such baggage.

And DeSantis knows all this. He’s not dumb, and neither is Trump, who sees the governor of New Alligatoria as his only real competition. The libs are dumb, but even they see it. That’s why we are already getting the inevitable “Trump is literally Hitler, but DeSantis is literally Hitler²” articles and tweets.

The stars have aligned. All the pieces fit. The time is now. Ron DeSantis really has no choice but to run if he ever wants to be president – he will never have a better chance. Just ask ex-President Christie.”

  14. EXCERPT: “So-Called ‘Gender Affirmation’ Surgery Violates Ethics

Surgery for so-called “gender affirmation” or ill-named “sex reassignment” grossly violates the ethical canons I have taught, that were taught to me, and that were taught to all surgeons until very recently. Such surgery entails radical and irreversible operations on normal healthy organs — mastectomy performed on normal breasts, amputation of the normal penis and scrotum (with construction of an opening to imitate a vagina), excision of the normal uterus and ovaries (with construction of a skin-tube to imitate a penis), among other procedures. These procedures are permanently disfiguring and render patients sterile.

What is the ethical basis for such mutilating surgery performed on perfectly healthy organs? It is a basic principle of medical ethics that surgeons are under no obligation to perform surgery on healthy body parts simply because a patient requests it. In fact, a surgeon is generally obligated to refuse to damage a patient’s normal organs or body parts just because the patient wants it done — e.g., it is unethical for a general surgeon to amputate a patient’s normal healthy arm or leg just because the patient requests it (this is a real issue), or remove a patient’s healthy eyes or a healthy part of a patient’s brain, simply because of a patient’s request. There are patients who suffer greatly from Body Integrity Image Disorder, but it is a psychiatric condition, not a surgical condition. Surgical mutilation is not a treatment for psychiatric illness.

Patients with gender dysphoria obviously share much in common with patients with Body Integrity Image Disorder — it may reasonably be understood as a variant of it. Under what circumstances are radical and permanent surgical procedures justified for these patients?

    Mental Not Physical Illness

To consider the ethics of surgical treatment for gender dysphoria, I note that these patients are mentally ill. I don’t mean this term in a derogatory sense. I mean it in a medical sense. Patients presenting to a physician for gender dysphoria are certainly ill, in that they are seeking medical help. If they were not ill, they wouldn’t be going to a doctor. And gender dysphoria is a mental, rather than physical illness, because the sexual organs of people with gender dysphoria are functioning normally. There is nothing physically wrong with the penis and testicles of a man who claims to be a woman, or with the uterus and ovaries of a woman who purports to be a man. The illness is mental — the patient does not feel like his or her sex and does not want to be his or her sex. This of course can cause great suffering — it is a real illness — but the suffering is mental, not physical.

The primary justification for radical medical and surgical “treatment” of gender dysphoria is that it reduces the risk of suicide, but this is not supported by the evidence. Furthermore, the assertion, “I’m going to kill myself if doctors don’t mutilate my body,” emphasizes the psychiatric, rather than physical, nature of gender dysphoria illness. There are well-established treatments for suicidal ideation, none of which entail the destruction of normal body parts by hormonal castration or surgical mutilation.

Gender dysphoria is a psychiatric illness, and should be treated by psychiatric therapy, not by hormones or by scalpels. It is to the great discredit of the medical profession that we perform and sanction these radical operations. Surgery for gender dysphoria is profoundly unethical according to generally accepted standards of surgical practice. Surgeons should not deliberately destroy normal organs or body parts.”

    1. “As a pediatric neurosurgeon, I have followed the proliferation of surgical procedures for so-called “gender affirmation” with increasing dismay. That public schools now advocate such treatments to young children is particularly alarming. I say this based not on personal opinion but on 35 years of experience as a surgeon and instructor of surgeons.

I teach at a medical school and I am a residency director for neurosurgery in my institution. This means I am in charge of training young neurosurgeons. I emphasize to medical students and resident neurosurgeons that the first and most fundamental responsibility a surgeon has to his patients is to make an appropriate initial decision as to whether to operate and if surgery is in the patient’s best interest.”
      ————–
Thus, when I quiz my students and residents about treatment options for various conditions, I always insist that they begin with a discussion of non-surgical treatments. Honest and conscientious surgeons only do surgery when less invasive options are inadequate and there are clear, justified reasons for surgery. The patient’s health, not the surgeon’s ego, is paramount. This is basic surgical ethics.”

  15. Entire Article @ BB: “Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) commended sponsors of the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA) today, as he rescued the derided media bailout bill from the jaws of legislative death.

“Let me commend the authors of this bill for the hard work they put in on an important issue,” said Sen. Cruz, who went on to praise the legislation as a blow against the corporate power of Big Tech, even though it will deepen the corrupt relationship between Silicon Valley and the media.

The core of the bill, as is now widely known, is to allow media companies to form a legal cartel in the U.S., for the sole purpose of pressuring tech companies for special favors. At the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the bill today, Cruz said he worked closely with the lead Democrat sponsor of the bill, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (R-MN) to get his amendment through. Thanks to Cruz’s efforts, the media bailout bill was voted out of committee and may now face a floor vote.

“I’ve had extensive conversations with Senator Klobuchar, and sat down and heard her concerns, and we worked together on this amendment,” said Cruz.

Many Republican senators voted against the bill. At the hearing, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) gave a lengthy argument against the bill, voting in favor of Cruz’s amendment but voting against passing the bill out of committee. “I am a little bit confused by the sponsors’ support for the amendment,” said Sen. Lee. “I applaud anything that restricts censorship by Big Tech, [but] I don’t think it does what the sponsors think it does.”

“The bill retains the fundamental flaw of attempting to improve competition by sanctioning the formation of cartels, something that our antitrust laws go out of their way to prohibit. Moreover, this bill ends up favoring large conglomerate publishers over smaller, local publishers,” continued Lee.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) also voted against the bill. Sen. Blackburn has long maintained that the bill makes it easier for Big Tech and the media establishment to collude, while Sen. Hawley opposes antitrust exemptions on principle. Republican concerns with the bill are so great that Sen. Rand Paul, one of the bill’s original sponsors, ditched his support for the JCPA earlier this month.

Despite this, which added to opposition from the GOP leader in the House Kevin McCarthy, as well as opposition from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), and a wide range of bipartisan experts, the bill has been rescued from oblivion again.

Inexplicably, the man responsible for bailing out the corporate legacy media — one of the most disliked institutions in the country, particularly among Republicans — is a man who has presented himself to the public as a conservative firebrand: Ted Cruz.”

  16. Entire Article @ DC: “The increased proliferation of sex change operations in the United States, including for children, can be linked directly to provisions in the Affordable Care Act, former President Barack Obama’s landmark legislative achievement.

Just 3,256 gender transition procedures were performed in the United States in 2016, the year that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) began forcing health insurance providers to cover such procedures in their plans. The next year, the number surged by more than 150%, and in 2020 surpassed 16,000, according to data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

“Vanderbilt opened its trans clinic in 2018. During a lecture the same year, Dr. Shayne Taylor explained how she convinced Nashville to get into the gender transition game. She emphasized that it’s a “big money maker,” especially because the surgeries require a lot of “follow ups” pic.twitter.com/zedM7HBCBe

    — Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) September 20, 2022″

In 2014, the Obama administration overturned a rule which barred the use of Medicare funds for gender transition operations, paving the way for a massive expansion of sex change surgeries under the ACA.

A May 2016 ruling by HHS interpreted Section 1557 of the ACA in a way that compelled healthcare providers and insurers to provide coverage for gender transition procedures, as long as those procedures were also available to cisgender patients seeking them for other reasons. That means, for example, a doctor could no longer provide hormone therapy to a teen suffering from a sexual development disorder while declining to provide the same hormone therapy to someone seeking to change genders.

Because the Section 1557 ruling applied to any healthcare provider that accepted money from Medicaid or Medicare, the result was that an overwhelming majority of healthcare providers and insurers were forced to cover gender transition treatments.

“The final rule does not require covered entities to cover any particular procedure or treatment for transition-related care, including gender reassignment surgery. However, it does bar a covered entity from categorically excluding from coverage or limiting coverage for all gender transition-related services,” an HHS spokesperson said at the time.

Only a small fraction of Americans who identify as transgender have actually proceeded with sex reassignment surgery. Prior to 2016, one prohibitive factor was often cost. The cost of sex reassignment for an uninsured person can range from around $15,000 for genital reconstruction alone to as much as $50,000 for operations on genitals, breasts and facial features to make them appear more masculine or feminine, according to Transgender Map.

The Obamacare provision to vastly increase insurance, Medicare and Medicaid coverage of sex change operations resulted in the number of procedures conducted skyrocketing from just 3,256 in 2016 — the year the new policy took effect — to 8,304 in 2017. The rate of these operations was already on an upward trajectory, which has continued since 2017, but the single-year jump of 155% from 2016 to 2017 is by far the largest of any year on record.

Now, the Obama-era policy is in jeopardy as gender transition treatments become more controversial in the political landscape, particular as it pertains to children. Numerous lawsuits were filed beginning in 2016 against various parts of the policy, largely from religious organizations seeking faith-based exemptions to the provision. (RELATED: Texas School Staff Reportedly Told To Share Students’ Gender Transition With Private Company, Not Parents)

In August of last year, a federal district court in Texas ruled in a suit first filed in 2016 that doctors could not be forced to provide gender transition services against their conscientious objections and professional judgement. The federal government appealed the ruling to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and oral arguments took place in Aug. 2022.

For now, the surge in sex change surgeries may be slowed by the court decision. The Obama-era interpretation of Section 1557 was also overturned by the Trump administration before being reinstated by President Joe Biden. But the overall trend of gender transition surgeries continues upward.”

The records provide a rare glimpse into the breadth and depth of the Postal Service’s surveillance apparatus, which Mr. Eddington said was capable of reaching into every home and business in the country. “The Postal Service cannot reliably deliver mail to my own home, yet they can find the money and people to effectively digitally spy at scale, including on Americans engaged in First Amendment-protected activities,” Mr. Eddington said.

A redacted situational awareness bulletin released in response to Mr. Eddington’s Freedom of Information Act request showed the U.S. Postal Inspection Service tracked “peaceful armed protests” by Virginians demonstrating at a Second Amendment rally for “Lobby Day” in Richmond on Jan. 18, 2021.

“The gathering lasted approximately two hours, with members identifying themselves as affiliates of the Proud Boys, Boogaloo Bois and Last Sons of Liberty,” the postal inspectors’ bulletin said. “Counter-protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement also attended. With heavy law enforcement presence the demonstrations stayed peaceful in nature.”

Other bulletins from postal inspectors show analysts following social platforms including Parler and Wimkin. The Postal Service assessed on Jan. 12, 2021, that the deplatforming of Parler likely disrupted coordinated protests planned for Inauguration Day, which postal inspectors compared to the riot on Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol.

Multiple bulletins created by the postal inspectors include disclaimers that the reports are not intended to infringe on Americans’ constitutional rights but to provide information to law enforcement about the potential for violence and criminal activity. The postal inspectors’ reports also include a redacted threat to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, and a redacted tweet threatening Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.”

  19. EXCERPT: “They will not likely get the 60 votes in the Senate to pass it. This is a purely political move to improve the Democrat brand.

    THIS IS THE DANGEROUS SECTION

The package includes reforms to ensure police funding is used to support smaller police departments, along with investments in de-escalation training and $250 million for mental health resources for officers. A major goal is to reduce fatal encounters between police and people with mental illness. It includes language around police accountability that would allow the Justice Department to have preferential consideration over which police departments are permitted to receive the grants. It will also allocate $50 million of the funding to go toward data collection on police practices and community safety.

This gives the federal government control over local police with the funding they need. It’s the beginning of the nationalization of police. It’s the proverbial camel’s nose under the tent.

    THE DEMOCRAT TALKING POINT

“With this package, House Democrats have the opportunity to model a holistic, inclusive approach to public safety, and keep our promise to families across the country to address this issue at the federal level,” Far left Reps Ilhan Omar and Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said in a statement.

“These are efforts to repair their image with voters who blame them for higher crime rates,” said Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., the chair of the Republican Study Committee. “The Democrats know that their anti-police rhetoric over the last few years has harmed them in key districts that they need to keep the majority, which they are not. This is a top-of-the-list item for voters.”

  20. Entire Article @ EpochTimes:

If people do not speak up when faced with a vocal minority trying to impose their radical views on society, the silent majority and their children will face dire consequences, said rapper and social commentator Zuby, encouraging the “silent majority” to stop censoring themselves.

“A silent majority may as well not exist,” he said. “I think there’s a silenced majority.” As long as people stay silenced, then that vocal minority—even if it makes up only 1 percent of the population—will not be afraid to state their opinions, he said, because they are very vocal and bold.

People like talking about a “silent majority” because it makes them think that somehow by magic, things are going to turn around for the better, Zuby said in a recent interview for EpochTV’s “Crossroads” program. ”How can you win a fight if you don’t fight? How can you win a debate when you don’t speak?” he asked. In a debate, if one person is “spouting off the goofiest, most ludicrous ideas” and the other person just sits there silently and nods, then the one who talks will win the debate, he said.

“Most Americans aren’t on board with the most extreme and radical and bizarre notions that are floating around out there,” he said, referring to the recent assertions that men can become pregnant or give birth. “Over 90 percent of people don’t believe that, but those people need to be willing to say something.” A silent majority is weak when faced with a vocal minority, he added.

Then people wonder why the world has gone crazy, Zuby said, and his answer is that “it’s happened because most people have let it happen. Most people are not being censored by the government or even censored by big tech or censored by social media,” Zuby said. “They’re censoring themselves.”

    Breaking From Cowardice
    (video)
“Over the past 10 years, we have had this pandemic of cowardice, and people are unwilling to say things in many cases that are objectively true. … They are afraid of repercussions,” he said, adding that cowardice and courage are both habits and they’re also both contagious. When people start acting like cowards, it can affect others around who will start behaving like cowards, Zuby said.

“When one person stands up, starts speaking out, and using their platform to either state their opinions or to state objective facts, it encourages other people to do the same,” he said. “I know for a fact that I’ve encouraged thousands, if not millions of people out there in this world, to be a little bit more bold, a little bit more courageous.”

Zuby made a disclaimer that he does not encourage anybody to be radical or go to extremes. He said he encourages people to be willing to say what they believe to be true, or what is true; to have conversations, debates, and discussions; and to stand up and say “no” when being forced into something the person does not want to go along with, such as a mask mandate, a vaccination mandate, or calling people by made-up pronouns.

The rapper believes that nobody should be coerced to accept others’ opinions or punished for not accepting them. He said that if a man decides he identifies as a chicken and feels most comfortable wearing a chicken costume and eating birdseed, that’s his right. “I think it’s weird. I support your right to do it, though,” he said. “But then if you want me to—you want to force me to say that you’re a chicken and you want to force me to treat you as a chicken … no, I’m not doing that.”

People in the West understand the concept of “freedom of religion” and “freedom from religion,” he said. Zuby explained that he has a right to his beliefs, a right to worship and pray, but he does not have a right to force others to accept his beliefs. In the same way, people should not be coerced into believing or affirming radical new social dogmas.

‘The Power Is Always With the People’

People are giving up too many of their freedoms, Zuby said. “If you give them an inch, they’re gonna take a yard. If you give them a yard, they’re gonna take a mile.” There are mayors, governors, presidents, prime ministers, World Economic Forum members, and other unelected people who like to call themselves the elites, Zuby said. “But they are less than 0.1 percent of the population. The power is always, ultimately, with the people.”

“Ultimately, you are the one who makes your choices. And when you understand this, and you take responsibility for it, and you take accountability, it can be a little bit scary to begin with, but it’s actually a very powerful and an empowering message,” he said. One person can get their own life and family in order, and that helps the wider community to get in order, he said, adding that a country is a collection of communities. “I look at things much more bottom-up than top-down,” he said.

    Consequences of Remaining Silent

Zuby, who also is a podcast host, public speaker, and creative entrepreneur, thinks that people might say to him in response to his encouragement to speak freely: “You’re self-employed. You work for yourself. You’ve got means, you’ve got money. You don’t have a normal job, kids, and a mortgage, and all these other things that normal people have.”

The rapper said he understands and can empathize with people who are concerned about losing their jobs, but he warned that today’s children are going to live in a society that will have fewer freedoms and more coercion, authoritarianism, and tyranny.

“I don’t want anyone to put themselves at risk. But first of all, those fears are largely overblown. And secondly, the consequences of not speaking up are, in the long term, far more severe,” he said. “It’s much easier to nip something in the bud than to let this monster grow to such a level and get so ingrained in so many institutions, in so many aspects of society.”

“If you think it’s difficult now, it’ll be much, much more difficult five years from now, a decade from now, 20 years from now,” he said. “And your children, our children, my future children are going to have to bear the consequences of that.”

  21. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it served a residential search warrant which resulted in three kilos of fentanyl being seized last week. According to the DEA, the three kilos of fentanyl seized is enough to kill up to 1.5 million people. In addition, JSO says .26 kilos of cocaine, and over 6,000 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl were seized. Forty percent of those pills contained lethal amounts of fentanyl, JSO says, enough to kill 2,500 adults.

JSO says “this fact puts into perspective that ‘One Pill Can Kill.'”

“Are We Just One Big Storm Away Climate Lockdowns?
    I & I Editorial Board, September 23, 20228 comments

While we never thought that the coronavirus pandemic was engineered to soften us up for harsher climate lockdowns to come later, we did note that our ruling class was watching our reactions to its repressive rules to see how far it could go the next time. Today we’re alarmed that “the next time” might be here soon.

In November 2020, we said we were afraid that the country was being conditioned to just take whatever is dished out by power-hungry officials, elected and unelected, and were troubled that Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, could say “now is the time to do what you’re told” with minimal condemnation and no demands that he be fired.

Nearly two years later, it’s clear that our concerns were justified. We find the evidence in a Sept. 14 World Economic Forum document topped by the title “‘My Carbon’: An approach for inclusive and sustainable cities.” The report says there have been “significant developments” over the last five to seven years “on social, environment and technology fronts that could help realize” the goals “for shaping the future towards smart and sustainable cities.”

Example No. 1 was the public response to the pandemic lockdowns.

‘COVID-19 was the test of social responsibility – A huge number of unimaginable restrictions for public health were adopted by billions of citizens across the world. There were numerous examples globally of maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, mass vaccinations and acceptance of contact-tracing applications for public health, which demonstrated the core of individual social responsibility.’

Are we misreading the intentions of the World Economic Forum? Unlikely. Read the entire document. It’s impossible to not come away with the stomach-churning feeling that the WEF saw in the pandemic lockdowns a model for climate lockdowns.

Never give it the benefit of the doubt. This is an organization that trains politicians and activists to follow the progressive playbook to remake our world not through cooperation between liberated people but coercion directed by those who wield the power of government.

It has told us we will own nothing and like it, that it’s determined to establish a “fascist economic model” and recalibrate “a whole range of human rights that are playing out online,” including “freedom of speech,” and is working toward eventually tracking our carbon footprints. It aims to push through the self-empowering “Great Reset,” which reminds us far too much of Mao’s “Great Leap Forward” and not just in name only.

The WEF and its soldiers have made a fetish out of “democracy,” but as soon as they can manufacture an “emergency,” such as the ginned-up fears of man-caused global warming, even that goes out the window. The elites who make up the organization’s leadership and its trainees who’ve been spread across the world in positions of influence and power flat-out want us to be their slaves, doing what they tell us when they tell us. End of rights, the end of individuality, one big socialist, global government. The WEF believes not in economic freedom but an economy centrally planned for the entire globe. Another phrase for that is “economic tyranny.”

We hope to find one day that our unease was an overreaction, that there is no agenda, unspoken or otherwise, to shut down personal and economic freedoms to pursue the ghost of global warming. But we’ve seen too many powerful politicians and previously eminent institutions claim that climate change is man’s biggest threat. So it’s a really slim hope.”

  24. Entire Article @ DC: “‘The Next Step In Banning Guns’: Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck Break Down Credit Card Tracking Of Gun Purchases” – Harold Hutchison on September 22, 2022

Fox News host Tucker Carlson and talk radio host Glenn Beck blasted credit card companies Thursday evening over a new merchant code for firearms purchases.

“If you wanted to ban guns, not just assault rifles or ghost guns, bump stocks, all guns, you want to ban guns, you want to disarm the population, the first thing you would do is track the purchase of guns. Not surprisingly, that’s now happening,” Carlson said. “So Visa, the largest payment processor in the world has announced it’s going to track your gun purchases. They’ve established a new merchandise category gun for gun and ammunition retailers. Not just guns, ammo, too. Mastercard and AmEx announced similar plans.”

The International Standards Organization (ISO) announced the new Merchant Category Code (MCC) Sept. 9, Reuters reported. Amalgamated Bank, a New York-based bank that supports “social justice” called for the new code alongside Congressional Democrats and officials in New York and California.

    WATCH: https://rumble.com/v1l5wbz-tucker-carlson-glenn-beck-call-out-credit-card-tracking-of-gun-purchases.html

“They’re all doing it because they were told to do it by a politician, which shouldn’t be allowed, but it is, and that politician is Elizabeth Warren, who is flat-out unbalanced. We’ve shown you the videos. Warren sent those companies a letter this month. The letter says the goal of tracking purchases is to prevent mass shootings and terrorism,” Carlson said, before introducing Beck.

Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Democratic Rep. Madeline Dean of Pennsylvania wrote the CEOs of Visa, MasterCard and American Express Sept. 2, demanding they adopt a new MCC for firearms and ammunition sales.

“If anyone thinks this is about gun registry or helping people decide, why does Visa go on to say ‘It has been our commitment around the world to uphold the privacy of cardholders. Also our rules require financial institutions involved in transactions to evaluate and process all legal transactions. Our network does not allow any financial institution member to deny transaction for the purpose of legal goods or services,’” Beck asked.

“Why did Visa suddenly change their mind? ESG pressure is my guess and this is the next step in banning guns,” Beck said. (RELATED: ‘Disarming You Is The Point’: Tucker Slams Biden’s Gun Control Speech)

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri sent the CEOs of American Express, Visa and MasterCard a letter criticizing their decision to adopt the MCC for gun stores. Almost two dozen Republican state attorneys general also wrote the credit card companies, demanding they reverse course on the ISO policy, according to the Washington Examiner.

“The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a global standards-setting organization, decided to establish a new merchant category code (MCC) for ‘gun and ammunition stores,’” Visa wrote in a Sept. 13 blog post. “Many misunderstand what that means and are, in turn, advocating the use of MCCs to ‘track’ gun sales as a potential tool in combatting gun violence. That’s not what merchant codes are designed for, nor should they be.”

“We do not believe private companies should serve as moral arbiters. Asking private companies to decide what legal products or services can or cannot be bought and from what store sets a dangerous precedent. Further, it would be an invasion of consumers’ privacy for banks and payment networks to know each of our most personal purchasing habits,” the credit card company said.”
