The Silkie chicken is one of the most distinctive poultry breeds in the world, admired for its soft, fur-like feathers and gentle disposition. Venetian explorer Marco Polo (circa 1254–1324) returned from Asia with tales of a “furry” chicken, and while the exact origin remains uncertain, both China and Japan claim this extraordinary fowl as their own.
Fun Facts About the Silkie Chicken
Silkies are named for the long, silk-like feathers that cover their bodies. Their small walnut combs and small to medium-sized wattles appear deep mulberry to black.
Silkie plumage looks like fur or down instead of feathers. This is because Silkie plumage lacks barbicels, the hooked projections normally extending from and interlocking the secondary branches of chickens’ feathers. In addition to luxurious, fluffy plumage, the breed has dark-blue legs with abundant feathering, turquoise-blue earlobes, black skin and bones, and grayish-black flesh.
The Silkie has five toes; most chickens have only four.

This breed comes in an assortment of colors, and some varieties are bearded with an extra muff of feathers covering their earlobes. The American Poultry Association recognizes Black, Buff, Gray, Partridge and White, and (bearded only) Splash, Blue and Self Blue varieties.

Mature males weigh only 36 ounces. Hens weigh 32 ounces.
Silkie Chicken Characteristics and Facts
Silkie chickens are known for their calm and friendly temperament, making them ideal pets and exhibition birds. Their unique feather structure means they require a bit more protection from wet or cold weather compared to other breeds.
Broodiness and Maternal Instincts
One of the most remarkable traits of the Silkie chicken is its extreme broodiness. Silkie hens readily sit on eggs for extended periods and make excellent surrogate mothers, even hatching and raising eggs from other birds such as quail and ducks. This natural instinct makes them invaluable for breeders and backyard poultry enthusiasts who want to hatch a variety of poultry species.
Silkie Chickens in Cuisine and Culture
The Silkie chicken is more than just a unique pet or show bird—it holds a special place in Asian haute cuisine. Known as wu gu jis or “dark-boned chicken” in Chinese, Silkie meat is prized for its distinctive gray-black color and rich flavor. This culinary tradition has even found its way into French cuisine, where the Silkie occasionally appears in gourmet dishes.
Silkie Chickens Make Great Pets
Silkies are sweet, ultra-docile chickens. They are friendly and make good pets.
Silkie Chicken Egg Size
Silkie chickens lay about one small tinted egg per week.
Silkie Chicken: Final Thoughts
The Silkie chicken may be small in size, but it holds an outsized place in the hearts of poultry keepers. With their distinctive plumage, unusual black skin and bones, and sweet, docile nature, Silkies are as charming as they are useful. Whether you raise them for exhibition, as devoted broody hens, or simply as friendly backyard companions, these unique birds are sure to bring beauty, personality, and plenty of conversation to your flock.

We dropped a nuclear bomb on Japan, twice, and 80 years later they light up their cities in our colors as a show of how much they love us.
Meanwhile, we bailed half of Europe out, twice, and their governments take every last opportunity to signal how much they despise us.

George Soros and family buy 18 plots of land in exclusive Hamptons enclave, squeezing locals: ‘Ruining the island’
It illustrates the Democrat elites who push a socialist agenda, but have no objectives of a socialist lifestyle for themselves. By buying up the businesses that sustain their neighbors ability to stay on the island, they are forcing them to vacate or sell their properties, so they can stay away from problems on the mainland that they are creating. Soros is a master manipulator who is supporting causes that he doesn’t believe in for himself.

“The American Revolution Was Fought And Won In Neighborhood Bars — American taverns became rooms where our founders could leave without making every disagreement permanent.”
By: Marc Oestreich, July 03, 2026
EXCERPT: “Colonel Benjamin Tallmadge noticed it from across the room. For eight years, he had watched Washington and learned to read the small signals: the set of the jaw, the economy of movement, the way the general’s silence could crowd out other men’s noise. He had never seen the hand shake — not at Long Island, where the army nearly dissolved into the East River; not at Valley Forge, where it nearly froze to death; not at Yorktown, where it won.
It was Dec. 4, 1783. The fighting had ended months earlier. Washington had asked his officers to meet him at Fraunces Tavern, on the corner of Pearl and Broad in lower Manhattan. They came up the stairs to the Long Room on the second floor. He raised a glass of Madeira, and when he opened his mouth to speak, what came out was one sentence: “With a heart full of love and gratitude, I now take leave of you.”
That was all he managed. He stood there, unable to continue while the officers who had followed him across eight years and a continent wept without embarrassment, without apology, without any of the management that men in uniform usually apply to grief in public. Then he walked to Henry Knox, put his arms around him, and said nothing. He moved to the next man, and the next, until he had embraced every officer in the room, and then he walked out.
He could have done this anywhere. He chose a tavern. That choice tells us something about the country those men had just made.
The men who made the American Revolution made it in rooms like this one. Start with a brick building on Union Street in Boston, the one with a copper dragon over the door.
The Green Dragon Tavern was owned by a Masonic lodge — a tavern on the ground floor, a lodge hall above — and Samuel Adams used it the way a general uses his headquarters. The Sons of Liberty met there. The North End Caucus met there. Paul Revere later recalled that through the winter of 1774 and into 1775, he belonged to a committee of about 30 men, “chiefly mechanics,” who gathered at the Green Dragon to watch British troop movements and report back, swearing themselves to secrecy over a Bible before every meeting…..”

Just The News: “Much of the country is experiencing a potentially dangerous heat wave as the nation prepares for a very special Fourth of July, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Over 160 million people, according to the New York Times, from Missouri to Maine and south to Mississippi, live in locations that felt dangerous levels of heat on Thursday, citing the National Weather Service. There were “heat risk” forecasts in major cities, including New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Atlanta, with some facing the most extreme risk category through Saturday.
CNN is reporting that “A dangerous heat wave is tightening its grip on the East Coast and straining the electric grid as people seek to cool off in their air conditioned homes and businesses. The worst conditions are now underway, with many records already broken, as millions prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July outdoors.”
The Times reported that the temperature in Central Park reached 100 degrees by 2 p.m., tying its daily record set in 1966. “LaGuardia Airport in Queens hit 104, surpassing its daily high of 101 from 1966. It was the same story at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where the high was 102, breaking the same-day record of 101, also from 1966.”

This back and forth in the court system sucks!!!!
Just The News: “A federal appeals court on Thursday reversed a lower court’s order that required the National Park Service (NPS) to restore exhibits and signs that had been removed by the Trump administration. The lower court ruling would have restored the signs and exhibits that the Trump administration had ordered removed because it viewed them as having disparaged Americans, according to The Hill.
But the judges of the First Circuit Court of Appeals found that the Trump administration “made a strong showing that the harms that the district court relied on” had not met the standards for an injunction. They also found that the groups suing the government “cannot show that a stay of the district court’s order…would cause them substantial injury.”
The order by the Trump administration was for the NPS to review all public-facing content not only for messaging that disparages Americans, but also for messages that “emphasizes matters unrelated to the beauty, abundance, or grandeur” of natural features, according to the outlet. The order led to dozens of signs and exhibits being removed from the National Mall.
A group called Democracy Forward, which is representing groups that sued the NPS, said it was disappointed, but argued that this was only a procedural setback.”

surely this must be a joke. If they decide “not to” give themselves a raise, how can taxpayers be on the hook for past “missed raises”? none of this makes sense.

DId anyone else know that Congress is suing the taxpayers for violating the 27th amendment? Apparently, they haven’t been getting raises every year (it says in the article they voted NOT to increase their pay each year) so they sued… OUTRAGEOUS!
https://nypost.com/2026/07/03/us-news/lawsuit-could-give-members-of-congress-millions-of-your-money-along-with-a-five-figure-raise/
FTA:
““Seventeen years, I have gotten people from my side and people from the other side saying, ‘Can’t we fix this?’” Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), a former House majority leader and one of the plaintiffs in the case, said at an appropriations hearing last month.
“Our goal is to stop the continual violations of the Constitution as it relates to Congressional pay,” Ken Cuccinelli, the attorney for the suing lawmakers, told The Post in an email. “As a policy matter, I would note that Congressional pay on an inflation-adjusted basis is the lowest it has been since 1954.”
Cuccinell — a Republican former Virginia attorney general and acting deputy Homeland Security secretary during President Trump’s first term — put together a class action lawsuit with Hoyer and fellow Reps. Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) and James Clyburn (D-SC) acting as plaintiffs along with former Reps. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) and Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo).
The exact number of current and former members who could receive back pay remains uncertain and is one of the questions that Federal Claims Court Judge Eric Bruggink asked both sides to address in filings due later this summer.
Other outstanding issues include how potential damages will be calculated, with individual lawmakers due between $225,000 and $420,000.”
“Apart from back pay, a federal court win could lead to lawmakers receiving automatic salary increases each year.
That would mean every member of Congress could see their pay hiked to more than $253,000 per year — an increase of 45%, according to estimates.
In an added twist, former lawmakers could then appeal to the federal Office of Personnel Management to have their pensions increased, adding more money to the taxpayers’ tally.
Demian Brady, vice president of research at the National Taxpayers Union Foundation, told The Post if lawmakers want a raise, then they should vote to give themselves a raise, not rely on the court to find in their favor.
“Because of all these perplexing questions, and because the damages will fall on taxpayers through higher deficit spending and potentially higher long-term liabilities, and also because of the reputational harm this will do to Congress as an institution, I’ve urged the lawmakers to drop their case,” he said. “

“I work the front desk at a small doctor’s office, and I wish people could see what happens on the other side of the phone. Every day, older patients call us confused. They are told to use the patient portal, upload documents, check lab results online, fill out forms before the visit, and confirm everything through a link.
Some of them do not know what a portal is. Some do not have a smartphone.
Some have one, but they are afraid to click the wrong thing. Last week, a man in his late 80s called about his test results. He said, “Ma’am, I don’t mean to bother you, but the computer says I have a message and I don’t know how to open it.”
He sounded ashamed. That broke my heart. He should not have to feel ashamed for needing a human being. Technology can be helpful. I understand that. But when people who built this country are made to feel helpless because everything became a login and a password, we have gone too far.
Not everything needs to be an app. Not every answer should be hidden behind a screen.” ~Unknown

“The Amendment That Changed America: How the Sixteenth Amendment Broke the Constitution”
Dr. Robert W. Malone, Jul 03, 2026
The Story in Brief: The Missing Half of Federalism
A companion essay to this one, published earlier this week, showed how the founders restrained government by dividing power, and how those restraints were dismantled between 1868 and 1913.
This essay expounds on one thread from that: The story of money and taxation.
The founders expected each state to raise its own taxes. They also understood that a state that taxed too aggressively would lose people, businesses, and investment to its neighbors. Competition among the states was not a flaw in the system. It was one of its safeguards.
That principle runs through the American founding. Adam Smith explained it in The Wealth of Nations, published the same year as the Declaration of Independence. Brutus saw where it led and warned what would happen if the federal government ever gained the upper hand. Economists spent the twentieth century proving what Smith had observed and Brutus had predicted.
The Constitution gave both the states and the federal government the power to tax within a single national market where Americans, their businesses, and their capital could move freely. Then came 1913. The Seventeenth Amendment stripped the states of their direct voice in the Senate. The Sixteenth Amendment gave Washington an unlimited claim on Americans’ incomes. The political half of American federalism and the financial half were dismantled in the same year.
This is the story of the money half. It is also the story of one forgotten Anti-Federalist who predicted almost exactly how it would end.
Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists in Plain English
The Federalists wanted a stronger national government. They believed the Articles of Confederation had left Congress too weak to govern effectively.
The Anti-Federalists agreed the Articles had problems but worried about something else: that a stronger federal government, once created, would never stop growing. They argued that Washington would eventually drain power, money, and authority away from the states.
The Constitution was largely the Federalists’ victory. The last two centuries have been, in many ways, a test of the Anti-Federalists’ prediction.
The idea itself was hardly revolutionary in 1776. Adam Smith observed that land cannot move, so governments can tax it almost at will. Money is different. The owner of capital, he wrote, is “properly a citizen of the world, and is not necessarily attached to any particular country.” Tax him too heavily and “he would remove his stock to some other country” where he could conduct his business in peace.
That is the entire principle in two sentences. Governments tax what cannot escape. They bargain with what can.….”

“Texas Muslim Nurse FIRED after LoTT Exposé”
Libs of TikTok, Jul 03, 2026
“Another week, another radical nurse getting exposed for posting radical content online. This week, Libs of TikTok exposed a registered Muslim nurse by the name “Ahlam” working for UTMB Health in Houston, Texas. Ahlam posted a video online where she appeared to show how she would refuse to treat patients if they were watching Fox News.
Shortly after our report went viral, UTMB Health responded directly to us, announcing that they were aware of the video and had opened an investigation. Ahlam’s access to work and UTMB facilities was also suspended while the investigation was ongoing.
During that time, Ahlam’s Instagram account, where the video was originally posted, appears to have been scrubbed and made completely private.
Within 24 hours after initially opening up an investigation, UTMB Health issued another response confirming that Ahlam has been TERMINATED from her nursing position.
Radical Leftists have invaded nearly every institution in the country, threatening to discriminate against those they disagree with and putting lives at risk. We won’t let that happen. We will keep exposing them. While the legacy media refuse to show violence and discrimination pushed by the left, we fight each day to show the truth.
We will clean up the hospitals and schools one radical retard at a time! 💪

Pallas’s cat: Pallas’s cat was first described in 1776 by Peter Simon Pallas, who observed it in the vicinity of Lake Baikal. Since then, it has been recorded across a large region in Central Asia, albeit in widely spaced sites from the Caucasus, Iranian Plateau, Hindu Kush, parts of the Himalayas, Tibetan Plateau to the Altai-Sayan region and South Siberian Mountains. It inhabits rocky montane grasslands and shrublands, where the snow cover is below 15–20 cm (6–8 in). It finds shelter in rock crevices and burrows, and preys foremost on lagomorphs and rodents. The female gives birth to between two and six kittens in spring.

“The Harder Right Path”
Michael T. Flynn LTG USA (RET), Jul 03, 2026
“Trust between the government and the people of this country is broken right now. I feel it every time I talk with young people. They look at a government that claims to work for everybody, but far too many do not believe it works for them at all.
I want trust reestablished between the government and the people of this Nation. I want it reestablished most for the generation coming up behind mine. I will only be around so many more years. The young people watching this clip could be around for another seventy. That is not their burden alone to carry. Life moves fast, and you do not want to wake up at seventy or eighty or ninety looking back and wishing you had done something differently.
That brings me to the hardest lesson I know. It is one I have lived by since my earliest days in uniform. Always choose the harder right path over the easier wrong one. There will always be an easier way out. The harder right path costs something up front, but it pays you back in a way the easy path never can. I have made hard decisions in my life that cost me plenty. I do not regret a single one of them, because I chose the harder right over the easier wrong every time it counted.
I brought up Maslow in this conversation because his hierarchy still holds true even if fewer people study it today. You build a foundation, work hard on the basics, and, if you do it right, you rise to a level of genuine self-satisfaction, a peace with who you are and what you have built. Too many people never get there, not because the path was closed to them, but because fear talked them out of walking it.
Young people asking whether the truth is worth the cost need to hear this plainly. The answer is yes, every time. The Republic was not built by people who took the easy path. It will not be defended by people who take it now.
Choose the harder right. Do not let fear make the decision for you.”
