DIY: Patriotic Wreath

I found this easy to make wreath that can be saved and used over and over for all patriotic holidays!

From GardenCare.org:

DIY PATRIOTIC FELT WREATH

Today we are sharing an easy DIY Patriotic Felt Wreath.  This wreath is easy to make and the use of felt keeps the cost low too.

You too can easily make this wreath with just a few supplies.  The straw wreath form is from Wal-Mart and is under $3.00.  It was wrapped in cellophane and I just left it on.   I used 5 sheets each of blue, white and red felt and straight pins to attach the felt pieces to the wreath form.  Sheets of felt are around 25 cents a piece.

Step 1: Hand draw a tear drop pattern on a thin piece of cardboard.   This tear drop shape measures 2 inches long and an inch and a quarter at it’s widest point.

Step 2: Cut out the tear drop shape and use as a template to cut similar shaped pieces from the felt.  At first I traced the pattern on the felt with a pencil.  I quickly realized that this method was going to take a while, so I started cutting through two pieces of felt at a time, and that made the process go a lot faster.   I cut as many tear drops as I could get out of each piece of felt.

Note: Depending on how big your pattern is, and how close you pin the pieces together, will determine the amount of felt pieces you need.  I used almost all of the pieces I cut.

Step 3: Fold the bottom edges together to make a petal shape and attach to the wreath with a straight pin.

Step 4: Work in a slanted pattern starting at the outside edge of the wreath form and work to the center of the wreath form. The blue felt was added last.

Step 5: The use of felt makes this a vibrant and colorful wreath!  I attached a few white foam star stickers on the blue felt to finish the wreath.

This wreath comes together in just a couple of days.  It did take some time to cut out all the felt pieces, but it was worth it!

    1. Good Morning. Cloudy and chilly, upper 40s.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! That wreath is beautiful, wish I felt more “crafty”. I could use one of those. 👍

Son and GS visited. GS is very smart @2-1/2yrs. Whenever he sees a Chevy, he says “dad”, a gmc, he says mom, a Subaru he says “Jelly” (short for Angelica), and a Ford he says NaNa. 😁 He certainly has good eyesight to spot those logos!

      Take care, God Bless. 🙏

we’re still sitting at 40*! and windy–so it’s feels colder. When we drove down the driveway the other day, there are honeysuckle bushes getting out of hand! and this year, the number of bushes exploded! hubby has to trim some growing out over the driveway. and behind the house they’re everywhere behind the grapevines…which are budding finally.

i hope soon the smell of the honeysuckles fills the air! i think the hummers love them.

  1. Hmmmm….something tells me Don Sr. is NOT particularly pleased with Don Jr.!!!

Just The News: “President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will try to attend his eldest son’s wedding in the Bahamas this weekend but warned that he might not make it because of the ongoing conflict in Iran and “other things.”

News outlets reported this week that Donald Trump Jr. is expected to marry his fiancee Bettina Anderson, a Palm Beach socialite, in a small wedding on a private island on Saturday. The president did not share an opinion of his son’s fiancée but said that he hopes the pair have a “great marriage.”

“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small, little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” the president told a reporter at the White House. “I’m in the midst — I said, ‘You know, this is not good timing for me, I have a thing called Iran and other things.’

“That’s one I can’t win on,” he continued. “If I do attend, I get killed, if I don’t attend, I get killed, by the fake news, of course … But he’s got a very — a person who I’ve known for a long time, and hopefully, they’re going to have a great marriage.”

Trump Jr. announced his engagement to the Florida socialite in December. But the ceremony comes just days after his first wife Vanessa Trump revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

It was not immediately clear what family members will be attending the wedding, but Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump share five children: Kai Trump, Donald Trump III, Tristan Trump, Spencer Trump and Chloe Trump.”

  2. SMDH – it is NOT a “drastic” tactic to purchase a gun!!!!

EXCERPT: “Republican Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, a former reality TV star, said Thursday that death threats he received during the height of his fame is what pushed him to eventually join the GOP.

Pratt is known for playing a villain for four seasons on the MTV reality show “The Hills,” and said the hate he received from the show prompted him and his wife Heidi Montag to get concealed-carry weapon permits.

“When I was a hated reality star, I got so many death threats –– I had so much security and police, and what did they tell me to do?” Pratt told CNN. “‘Get a gun.’ This is real. I know people don’t like guns, but L.A. was dangerous if you’re hated.”

The former reality star said the only people who supported the drastic tactic of purchasing and owning a firearm were Republicans…..”

      1. Oh, no – it wasn’t Pratt who said that!!! And IDK if that was an actual quote from him or the author inserted the “drastic” part. But since he is a former leftist, I would guess that was how he looked at it before his house burned down.

“The comment was actually made by Graham Platner, a military veteran and 2026 U.S. Senate candidate in Maine. The remark surfaced in resurfaced Reddit posts, where Platner wrote: “I still have to jerk off every time I sit in a porta-potty… that blue water smell conditioned me.” He later apologized for the online comments, attributing them to PTSD and mental health struggles following his overseas military deployments”

  6. “Friday Funnies: The Same Old Washington ThuneMarching to McConnell’s tune”

    Dr. Robert W. Malone, May 22, 2026

John Thune represents the species we thought MAGA had already chased out of Washington: the perfectly groomed, donor-approved, country-club Republican who always has a very serious reason why nothing can actually be done.

Thune feels like Mitch McConnell rebooted with better lighting, a decent chin, and fewer visible signs of decay.

What we want is a fighter; what we keep getting from the Senate is a rotating cast of parliamentary therapists explaining why now is not the right time to save the country.

The illegal immigrant problem isn’t solved. The bureaucracy is out of control. The intelligence agencies act as they report to themselves. The health of America continues to decline. MAHA issues are ignored. Big pharma and big ag continue to run roughshod. And the national debt grows larger.

Yet the RINO Senate Republicans respond the way an HOA board handles a dispute over mailbox paint colors

    “We share your concerns.”

    “We’re monitoring the situation closely.”

    “We must respect Senate norms.”

    Liked by 1 person

  7. Malone continued: “Conservatives are done with “norms.” They watched Democrats spend years bulldozing every institutional tradition in sight like drunken contractors driving a rented excavator, while Republicans stood nearby holding a laminated copy of Robert’s Rules of Order.

Every time conservatives demand action, a Senate Republican emerges from a mahogany-paneled office whispering about the filibuster like it’s the Shroud of Turin.

“Oh dear,” they sigh, clutching pearls and Senate procedure manuals, “we simply cannot deport illegal immigrants because subsection B, paragraph 4 of Senate precedent from 1978 may be offended.”

Meanwhile, Democrats govern like they’re trying to speedrun the collapse of the republic.

The Republican base isn’t amused. That’s why the term RINO has exploded again. Republican In Name Only. Although many conservatives now joke that it really means:

“Retreat Is Now Official.” Or: “Republicans Ignoring Normal Americans.” Or perhaps most accurately: “Republicans Incapable of Not Surrendering.”

Trump changed the Republican Party permanently, and a lot of Senate Republicans still haven’t realized the old game is over. They still want to sit in the back rooms with the lobbyists and their democrat friends and work out deals that better their own pocketbooks, rather than that of the American people. Then pretend that they are actually doing something to help America. While in fact, they do nothing.

Despite the avalanche of executive orders coming out of the Trump White House, only a handful have actually made it through Congress and become law. Turning executive orders into actual legislation requires Congress to do something it increasingly avoids: move with purpose.

Trump governs with Sharpies because Congress operates like a retirement committee trapped in a never-ending lunch recess. The result is that major policy changes remain temporary, vulnerable to the next president with a pen, a phone, and a grudge.

  8. The new Republican base is populist, anti-globalist, anti-bureaucratic, suspicious of the intelligence apparatus, and deeply angry after COVID, censorship, lockdowns, inflation, and years of being lied to by people with Ivy League credentials and emotional support dogs – otherwise known as staffers and lobbyists.

Voters want confrontation. They want investigations. They want accountability. They want action on MAHA issues. They want somebody in Washington who behaves like they understand the country is on fire.

At the top of the dumpster fire, we have our fearless leader, Senator John Thune. Designated the Majority Leader, but championing the status quo of a broken system.

John Thune has become the embodiment of the modern Republican problem: a party that campaigns like rebels and governs like risk managers. While Trump floods the zone with executive orders trying to force change through a broken system, Congress, under Republican leadership, struggles to convert ANY of those actions into durable law.

Voters sent Republicans to Washington expecting a counterrevolution against the administrative state, not a seminar on Senate etiquette delivered by well-compensated career politicians whose personal fortunes quietly rose while the country declined.

Thune now owns this mess. He sits atop a Senate Republican establishment that too often looks less like a governing majority and more like a support group for cautious institutionalists terrified of their own voters.

  9. I used to love wandering thru old abandoned buildings when I was a child!

“Scientists say they’ve finally learned why creepy old buildings freak us out”

Not The Bee, Harambe Harambe, May 21, 2026

Image for article: Scientists say they've finally learned why creepy old buildings freak us out

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “I don’t go into haunted, run-down buildings very often. I think most of us are in the same boat. I never thought I needed a scientific explanation for why they’re frightening, but, per ScienceDaily, leave it to modern science to figure it out:

Infrasound, an ultra-low-frequency vibration below the range of human hearing, is everywhere from traffic to old buildings. In a small experiment, people exposed to it became more irritable, less engaged, and even showed higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol — despite having no idea it was present. The findings suggest our bodies can “sense” these vibrations without conscious awareness, potentially explaining eerie sensations in places like basements or supposedly haunted buildings.

So the frightening thing in these buildings is … sound? As MacEwan University Prof. Rodney Schmaltz said, infrasound “is pervasive in everyday environments, appearing near ventilation systems, traffic, and industrial machinery.” Wikipedia explains it thusly:

Infrasound … describes sound waves with a frequency below the lower limit of human audibility…Although the ear is the primary organ for sensing low sound, at higher intensities it is possible to feel infrasound vibrations in various parts of the body.

There are some interesting practical applications of infrasound: It can be used “for monitoring earthquakes and volcanoes, charting rock and petroleum formations below the earth, and also in ballistocardiography and seismocardiography to study the mechanics of the human cardiovascular system.”

There are even indications that animals may be able to “perceive the infrasonic waves going through the earth,” suggesting why some animals are observed to go nuts just prior to an earthquake.

So why are creepy old buildings a locus of this bizarre phenomenon? Schmaltz explains:

Consider visiting a supposedly haunted building. Your mood shifts, you feel agitated, but you can’t see or hear anything unusual. In an old building, there is a good chance that infrasound is present, particularly in basements where aging pipes and ventilation systems produce low-frequency vibrations. If you were told the building was haunted, you might attribute that agitation to something supernatural. In reality, you may simply have been exposed to infrasound.

The researchers only tested one small frequency as part of this experiment; they acknowledged that there could be “many more frequencies and combinations that have their own differential effects.” Schmaltz, meanwhile, urged urban explorers to not be too afraid next time they’re spelunking under an old mental asylum:

So, the next time something feels inexplicably off in a basement or old building, consider that the cause might be vibrating pipes rather than restless spirits.

Yeah I’m still not going in those places either way!”

  10. 🌈 Sicily Witnesses One Of The Rarest Sky Phenomena On Earth

A breathtaking atmospheric display stunned observers in Sicily after photographer Marcella Giulia Pace captured an ultra-rare suncave Parry arc — a phenomenon usually associated with the Arctic.

The sky turned into a glowing geometric network of:

    • circumzenithal arcs
    • sundogs
    • parhelic circles
    • upper tangent arcs
    • a 22° halo
    • and the elusive Parry arc itself

Basically the atmosphere decided to boot up in “developer mode.” These formations happen when sunlight interacts with perfectly aligned ice crystals high in the atmosphere. In simpler terms: the sky briefly became sacred geometry.

Photos from Indiana Dunes show the Chicago skyline seemingly floating above Lake Michigan from nearly 50 miles away. The phenomenon is caused by a superior mirage, where layers of air bend light and visually lift distant objects above the horizon.

When the Chicago skyline appears to float above the horizon, it creates a breathtaking, sci-fi illusion known as a Fata Morgana. This rare atmospheric phenomenon bends light across Lake Michigan, lifting the city’s towering skyscrapers—like the Willis Tower—high above the curvature of the Earth.

So yes: entire cities can appear to levitate. Reality itself continues to have rendering glitches.

TMZ: “Kyle Busch’s medical emergency has been partially revealed by 911 audio obtained by TMZ Sports … with a caller saying the NASCAR superstar was struggling to breathe, overheating and coughing up blood before medics rushed to help.

During the emergency call placed around 5:30 PM Wednesday, the caller urgently requests an ambulance to a training facility in Concord, North Carolina … telling dispatch, “I’ve got an individual that’s shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out, and he’s producing a little bit of blood, coughing up some blood.”

Kyle was known to use this testing facility extensively since joining Richard Childress Racing — and according to the audio, he was lying on a bathroom floor inside the complex while employees prepared for paramedics to arrive.

The caller even asked responding crews to shut off their sirens when approaching the building … while explaining he would wait outside and flag them down at a side entrance.

TMZ also obtained dispatch audio from the incident … listen to it above.

As we reported … Busch reportedly became unresponsive Wednesday while testing in a Chevrolet racing simulator … just one day before his death at 41.”

      Aaron Lukas…

Five key things to know about Aaron Lukas
      1. Aaron Lukas is a veteran CIA officer with over 20 years of intelligence experience. According to the ODNI, Lukas spent more than two decades working within the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as both an analyst and a clandestine operations officer. Lukas was deployed across multiple regions worldwide.

During his onboarding as the PDDNI with Gabbard, Lukas said, “As someone who has spent most of my career serving on the front lines of intelligence, I understand firsthand our challenges as a community and the threats we face abroad.”

Gabbard also said, as she welcomed Lukas as PDDNI in 2025, she described him as someone who understood “nearly every aspect of intelligence work.”

  25. “Just when you think you’ve heard the craziest shit you can possibly think of, along comes a story like this. An out-of-control, caught-on-camera brawl broke out between families over seating at a Catholic school’s kindergarten graduation in Ohio on Thursday, sending one woman to the hospital and another to jail. Chaos ensued at the Queen of Apostles School in Toledo, Ohio Thursday morning when one family reportedly began hoarding rows of seats for themselves.”

And you thought you were having a bad day???

“They’ do jerkoff shit like this all the time. When they can’t beat you on popularity or content, they start disrupting the process – they steal campaign signs and all manner of other stupid shit. Maybe it’s time the ‘right’ side starts doing the same thing. Fuck principals – they don’t have any. Why should we be the only ones who do?

The unknown woman was caught on camera ripping a sign supporting Spencer Pratt for mayor from a Los Angeles yard — prompting online sleuths to name and shame her. A resident reported the Studio City theft to cops, explaining that he checked his property’s surveillance footage on Wednesday afternoon and saw two “female teens or young adults” grabbing the sign before walking off with it, according to a police report obtained by The California Post.”

  26. Just The News: “Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Mississippi, urged President Donald Trump on Friday not to accept an “ill advised” peace deal with Iran amid the raging conflict in the Middle East, claiming the United States must “finish what we started.”

The senator claimed the president is at a “moment that will define” his legacy and warned that if Trump continues to pursue a peace deal with Iran then the U.S. risks a “perception of weakness.”

“His instincts have been to finish the job he started in Iran, but he is being ill advised to pursue a deal that would not be worth the paper it is written on,” Wicker posted on X. “Our commander-in-chief needs to allow America’s skilled armed forces to finish the destruction of Iran’s conventional military capabilities and reopen the strait.

“Further pursuit of an agreement with Iran’s Islamist regime risks a perception of weakness,” he continued. “We must finish what we started. It is past time for action.”

The comment comes after Trump announced he has canceled a planned attack on Iran that was scheduled for Tuesday and stated Wednesday that he would wait for Iran’s reaction to the latest round of negotiations. “If I can save war by waiting a couple of days, if I can save people being killed by waiting a couple of days, I think it’s a great thing to do,” the president told reporters.”

  27. Wheezer showed up – he was hunkered down by the screen door, watching the birds. He ate his fill, then went out to invade the birds’ space, just in case any of them got careless! He’s looking really skinny and scraggly.
