Robins

The quintessential early bird, American Robins are common sights on lawns across North America, where you often see them tugging earthworms out of the ground. Robins are popular birds for their warm orange breast, cheery song, and early appearance at the end of winter. Though they’re familiar town and city birds, American Robins are at home in wilder areas, too, including mountain forests and Alaskan wilderness.

Look for American Robins running across lawns or stalking earthworms in your yard or a nearby park. Since robins sing frequently, you can find them by listening for their clear, lilting musical whistles. In winter they may disappear from your lawn but could still be around. Look for flocks of them in treetops and around fruiting trees, and listen for their low cuck notes.

Cool Facts

An American Robin can produce three successful broods in one year. On average, though, only 40 percent of nests successfully produce young. Only 25 percent of those fledged young survive to November. From that point on, about half of the robins alive in any year will make it to the next. Despite the fact that a lucky robin can live to be 14 years old, the entire population turns over on average every six years.

Although robins are considered harbingers of spring, many American Robins spend the whole winter in their breeding range. But because they spend more time roosting in trees and less time in your yard, you’re much less likely to see them. The number of robins present in the northern parts of the range varies each year with the local conditions.

Robins eat a lot of fruit in fall and winter. When they eat honeysuckle berries exclusively, they sometimes become intoxicated.

Robin roosts can be huge, sometimes including a quarter-million birds during winter. In summer, females sleep at their nests and males gather at roosts. As young robins become independent, they join the males. Female adults go to the roosts only after they have finished nesting.

Robins eat different types of food depending on the time of day: more earthworms in the morning and more fruit later in the day. Because the robin forages largely on lawns, it is vulnerable to pesticide poisoning and can be an important indicator of chemical pollution.

The oldest recorded American Robin was 13 years and 11 months old.

    2. Good morning, Pat! Only 26 here this morning but clear skies…..once I realized how cold it is, I recalled that I hadn’t disconnected the hose from the spigot after spraying out the a/c unit. Yes, it was frozen to the spigot but the water line itself didn’t freeze, thankfully. Phew! That was a close one! Wheezer came back yesterday and slept for a couple of hours on the chair.

  1. Just The News: “Authorities have temporarily halted air traffic at New York’s LaGuardia Airport after a collision late Sunday between an Air Canada Express jet and a firetruck.

The pilot and co-pilot were killed in the crash, which occurred shortly after the regional jet, out of Montreal and operated by Jazz Airlines, landed. Seventy-two passengers and four crew members were reportedly onboard.

The jet was reportedly traveling over 100 mph when it slammed into the truck. Seventy-one were reportedly taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, among them reportedly two New York Port Authority police officers aboard the fire truck.

The fire truck was reportedly in the runway area responding to an incident on another flight. The crash occurred shortly before midnight, rattling nerves in an airline industry already grappling with long airport lines caused by a temporary shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, under which Department of Transportation Safety Administration security agents are working without pay.

The National Transportation Safety Board dispatched a team to investigate the wreckage, and the Federal Aviation Administration ordered a ground stop that closed New York City’s second-largest airport.

“The NTSB is launching a go team to investigate the March 22 Jazz Aviation, Air Canada Express Flight 8646, CRJ900, airplane that collided with a fire truck on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport,” the NTSB said. Footage from the scene showed the front of the plane badly damaged and tipped upwards with the Port Authority firetruck on its side.

CBS News reports the incident to which the fire truck was responding was a United Airlines flight having aborted its takeoff after an anti-ice warning light came on. They reported an odor in the cabin and requested that firefighters come to assist. The pilots said flight attendants were feeling ill and declared an emergency.”

  2. EXCERPT: “President Donald Trump’s dispute with unnamed Israeli officials appeared to come to an end as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted his country “acted alone” in its attack on the Iranian South Pars gas field. Prior to Netanyahu’s statement, anonymous Israeli officials told the press that the American government actually had advance knowledge of the Israeli attack after Trump himself said the U.S. did not know about the operation.

Israel’s strike on the gas field prompted Iran to retaliate against Qatar. According to Trump, Qatar was also unaware that the Israeli attack would take place. While Netanyahu promised to “hold off on future attacks,” the dispute highlights growing concern about a lack of a unified chain of command in the Israel-U.S. war with Iran.

Shortly after Israel’s Wednesday attack on the South Pars gas field, Trump posted to social media, “Israel, out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East, has violently lashed out at a major facility known as South Pars Gas Field in Iran,” Trump wrote. “The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen.” Trump then added:

Unfortunately, Iran did not know this, or any of the pertinent facts pertaining to the South Pars attack, and unjustifiably and unfairly attacked a portion off Qatar’s LNG Gas facility. NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field unless Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent, in this case, Qatar — In which instance the United States of America, with or without the help or consent of Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before. I do not want to authorize this level of violence and destruction because of the long term implications that it will have on the future of Iran, but if Qatar’s LNG is again attacked, I will not hesitate to do so.

Three unnamed Israeli officials counter-signaled Trump, however, stating that the U.S. actually helped coordinate the attack and was therefore aware of it.

As The Federalist CEO Sean Davis observed, “This is reminiscent of Israel’s missile attack against Qatar last September, which killed an innocent Qatari, in the midst of U.S. negotiations with Qatar and Israel to end the war in Gaza. The perception at the time was that the attack was designed to blow up the peace negotiations. Trump was so furious he forced Netanyahu to call Qatar and read a letter of apology word for word.”

Iran’s counterstrikes on the energy infrastructure of U.S. ally Qatar, which shares the gas field with Iran, prompted officials there to say Israel’s actions were “dangerous and irresponsible.”

This is seemingly not the first time Israel has acted unilaterally in the war, after it struck other fuel infrastructure in Iran a couple of weeks ago. Responding to those attacks, War Secretary Pete Hegseth said that in “that particular case those weren’t our strikes.”……..

  3. “What are the Influenza Vaccine Risks? A data-driven look at flu vaccine adverse events”

    Dr. Robert W. Malone, Mar 23, 2026

What are the actual Influenza Vaccine risks? A data-driven look at flu vaccine adverse events

Federal safety databases document a range of side effects from annual influenza vaccination, from predictable and mild to rare and serious. Here is what the numbers show, what they mean for the policy debate over mandatory annual shots, and why the data sources themselves carry important caveats.

Whenever someone raises concerns about flu vaccine side effects, the response from official sources tends to follow a predictable script: the vaccine is safe and effective, serious side effects are extremely rare, and the benefits far outweigh the risks. All of that may be true in aggregate. But it tells you almost nothing useful about whether a specific person in a specific circumstance should receive a specific vaccine formulation.

A detailed analysis of federal safety surveillance data, drawn from the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), and Medicare administrative claims covering tens of millions of vaccine recipients, offers a more granular picture. The data reveal a risk profile that is neither alarming nor trivial. It is genuinely heterogeneous, varying significantly by age, vaccine formulation, co-administration with other vaccines, and the specific adverse event.

For the ongoing policy debate over mandatory or near-mandatory annual influenza vaccination, this heterogeneity matters enormously. A risk-benefit calculation that makes clear sense for a frail 82-year-old in a nursing home may look quite different for a healthy 28-year-old office worker. Current policy treats both identically. The data suggest that risk-benefit considerations warrant closer examination.

The routine side effects: what to expect……”

      1. Yeah, I kinda thought it didn’t really look like the ones here, which look like your picture. Ah-ha! And this is why – we have the “opossum,” not the “possum,” here in the US:

“A small, furry animal that looks like an opossum is likely a possum (native to Australia and nearby regions), not an opossum.  While both are marsupials, they differ significantly:

        • Possums have fluffy, bushy tails (like a squirrel’s), rounded faces, and soft, thick fur that’s often brown or golden.  They are primarily herbivores, eating plants and fruit.
        • Opossums (found in North America) have hairless, scaly tails, pointed snouts, and coarse gray fur.  They are omnivores, scavenging insects, garbage, and even carrion.

If the animal you saw is small, furry, and has a bushy tail, it’s most likely a possum.  However, in North America, the only marsupial is the Virginia opossum, which is larger and has a bare tail.  If the animal is truly small and furry, it may be a smaller species of possum, such as the Tasmanian pygmy possum (mouse-sized), or a similar-looking animal like a marten or weasel, which can resemble possums in shape but are not related.”

  4. Apparently, the crash at the LaGuardia airport was caused by a mistake by an ATC. – he was possibly the only one in the tower, covering 2 positions in the tower. Of course the funding situation is a critical aspect!

Frontier 4195: “That wasn’t good to watch”

ATC: “Yeah, I know. I was here. I tried to reach out…we were dealing with an emergency earlier. I messed up.”

  7. BREAKING: SCOTUS Justice Sam Alito just DROPPED THE MIC on liberals who want us to receive endless mail-in ballots after election *day*

“We have LOTS of phrases that involve two words, the last of which, the second of which is DAY. Labor DAY, Memorial DAY, George Washington’s birthDAY, Independence DAY, birth DAY, and election DAY!”

    “And they’re all particular DAYS.”

“So if we start with that, if I have nothing more to look at than the phrase election day, I think this is the DAY in which everything is going to take place, or almost everything.”

  8. Just The News: “A civil jury found famed actor and comedian Bill Cosby liable for sexual assault Monday for allegedly drugging and assaulting a former waitress in 1972 and ordered the “The Cosby Show” star to pay the victim $19.5 million in damages.

Cosby has faced allegations of drugging and sexually assaulting multiple women in recent years. The comedian was previously ordered to pay one woman $500,000 in 2022 for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager in 1975.

The Hollywood actor has been criminally convicted of sexual assault once, but the conviction was overturned for procedural reasons in 2021.

Donna Motsinger, who won her case in California on Monday, claimed Cosby assaulted her when both of them were in their 30s and drugged her with a pill that left her incapacitated, according to the New York Times.

“It has been 54 years to get justice, and I know it’s not complete for the rest of the women, but I hope it helps them a little bit,” Motsinger said after the verdict, stating that although it was not a criminal trial, it was important she was “believed and he in some way has to be accountable for what he did to me.”

Cosby’s attorney said her client will appeal the verdict. Cosby has denied all allegations.”

Democrats TEACH voter identification and election integrity … just not in America

The Democratic Party has an international arm called the National Democratic Institute (NDI). It’s funded by $181M/year in US tax dollars. Its board includes Stacey Abrams, Donna Brazile, and Tom Daschle.

But in regards to today’s SAVE America Act debate… did you know that the NDI has taught and supervised election processes all over the world?

For 40 years, NDI has told every developing country on earth that voter ID is essential for election integrity. They’ve recommended biometric systems… yes, that’s right, NDI recommended biometric systems, which goes way beyond SAVE America Act! They praised fingerprint verification. Tracked ID card issuance rates.

Meanwhile, Democrats call the SAVE Act “Jim Crow 2.0.”

Same party. Same people. Opposite positions.

As always, patience as I pull together the thread

NDI’s own 2001 guide emphasizes the importance of only citizens voting. It further says voter ID cards “introduce an additional safeguard into the system” and describes photo ID and fingerprints as standard election infrastructure.

      comment image

In one of their PDFs, the complaint in Nicaragua wasn’t that voter ID existed. It was that the government wasn’t issuing ID cards FAST ENOUGH. They even called the issuance of temporary IDs as ignoring “the far more fundamental problem.”

In Morocco, NDI praised the switch to requiring just ONE photo ID at the polls, calling it “a positive development.” The SAVE Act requires one photo ID. Democrats call that Jim Crow.

In Bangladesh, NDI praised voter photo ID cards as giving “a sense of empowerment and belonging to the disadvantaged and marginalized people of the country, particularly women.”

Stacey Abrams, NDI board member, calls the same requirement discriminatory at home.

Chuck Schumer: “The SAVE Act would impose Jim Crow-type laws to the entire country.”

NDI (his party’s own arm): “Individuals who wish to participate in an election must somehow prove their identity, demonstrating that they are who they say they are.” And also must demonstrate citizenship.

The biggest irony: NDI vice chair Stacey Abrams co-led the Nigeria 2023 election observation mission. Its final report called biometric voter ID “the most important contribution to raising confidence in electoral integrity.” She called Georgia’s voter ID law “Jim Crow in a suit.

NDI has observed elections in 100+ countries. If they observed a US election, they’d flag 14 states with no voter ID requirement as failing basic election integrity standard… by their own published criteria.

The Democratic Party tells the world voter ID is democracy. Then tells Americans it’s Jim Crow.

  10. “Mail-In Ballot Harvesting is Under the Spotlight”

    Clandestine, Mar 23, 2026

“In January, the Trump FBI, with DNI Gabbard present, raided Fulton County for hundreds of thousands of ballots from the 2020 election, with a focus on mail-in ballots. Now the Supreme Court will rule on the definition of “Election DAY”.

Fulton County, Georgia, was where we had the infamous “pipe burst,” that turned out to be an overflowed toilet, which caused the massive delay in tabulation of absentee/mail-in ballots in the wee hours of the morning, then massive batches of Biden mail-in ballots continued to trickle in, well into the following days, flipping the state from Trump to Biden. Similar delays in counting happened in other swing states around the nation, like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, all states which Trump was winning, flipped to Biden, long after Election Day was over, via massive arrivals of mail-in ballots to deep blue districts.

So what’s my point? If the Supreme Court rules that Election Day means that elections must be decided on Election Day, the Dems will no longer be able to utilize their mail-in ballot harvesting scheme. They will no longer be able to delay elections, so they can calculate where they need to send their harvested mail-in ballots, to then flood deep blue counties with fraudulent mail-in votes, to flip entire states and national elections. If we have same day elections, their mail-in ballot scheme doesn’t work.

This leads me to believe that the Trump FBI, along with DNI Gabbard, found legitimate proof of fraud in the 2020 election when they raided Fulton County, and now they have to shut down this scheme.

I think we, the public, are close to being shown the official evidence that 2020 was indeed stolen via fraud, which would mean the 2020 election was a continuation of the treasonous coup, launched by the Obama admin.”
