Happy Birthday Bruce!

I found an interesting site called 15FunFacts and this article is about Bruce Willis.  Today is Willis’s birthday (born in 1955) and it breaks my heart to read about his physical/mental decline.

Bruce Willis originally wanted to become a journalist before pursuing acting.

He worked as a security guard and private investigator while struggling to break into Hollywood.

Willis has perfect pitch, allowing him to identify musical notes without reference tones.

He speaks some German fluently, a skill developed during his childhood in West Germany.

In the 1980s, he appeared in commercials for products like Levi’s jeans and Honda motorcycles.

Willis nearly lost the role of John McClane in Die Hard due to his height—he’s just 5’9”.

He once scuba dived with sharks while filming a movie, demonstrating his adventurous spirit.

Bruce Willis founded a production company called Cheyenne Enterprises early in his career.

His first major TV role was as detective David Addison in the series Moonlighting.

Willis collects rare sports cars and has owned several Ferraris and Jaguars.

He co-starred with Matthew Perry in a stage play before achieving Hollywood fame.

Willis famously shaved his head for the Die Hard role, creating his signature look.

He has actively raised money for charities supporting children and veterans.

He sings and released several blues albums, showing a passion for music aside from acting.

Willis performed many of his own stunts in action films, including gripping rooftop scenes.

    1. Morning, Pat! Bright and sunny here @ 37. No sign of Wheezer overnight. I posted this @ M’s late yesterday – not sure if you saw it or not – I saw a Downy WP out in front late yesterday when I put the feeders and spinner back out after the wind died down:

“Turns out my services weren’t needed to finish up with moving Mom’s stuff. I guess Linda felt she could finish up what was left herself and I know the other residents helped her. Mom just called and said everything fits nicely except 2 plants and her neighbor, the young guy who is paralyzed, said he’ll take care of them. She’s getting settled in; she’ll be putting her bird feeders out tonight! All is well and she’s got a lead on a female doctor that her friend, Jackie, who lives nearby, really likes.”

  2. Personally, I don’t like the push to support Israel in all things – I don’t trust them at all. Having said that, this is a case of two radical opposites, IMO – Levin is a radical Israel supporter and always has been vs. Kent/Carlson. It’s a pissing contest is what it is!!!!

Just The News: “Former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent has accepted an invitation from Mark Levin to sit for an interview on his radio show this week, following his resignation from the Trump administration.

“Joe Kent, I would like to interview you on my radio show either tomorrow or Friday or one day next week.  For a full hour.  I don’t know how to reach you.  Have your people call my people,” Levin posted on X. “Sure. Let’s go,” was Kent’s reply.

Kent resigned on Tuesday, posting a resignation letter to social media in which he asserted that Israel had drawn the U.S. into the war by luring Trump with false promises of an easy victory. Levin, a stalwart proponent of the conflict, and Israel, has been a vocal critic of the war’s detractors, especially podcaster Tucker Carlson.

Kent is slated to sit for an interview with Carlson on Wednesday. The Levin-Carlson feud, for its part, has escalated into a larger split between pro-war and anti-war conservative pundits.

President Donald Trump himself came to Levin’s defense this week, with a lengthy Truth Social post in which he championed the pundit and derided his critics.”

  3. EXCERPT: “Pope Leo’s understated public manner obscures his acceleration of the Vatican’s leftward tilt. The trajectory, set by Pope Francis, quickens under Leo. Following his predecessor, Leo locates evil — in this instance, health inequalities — in impersonal, political terms. Specifically, in the institutions of a free economy.

The ideological thrust of his private address to the Pontifical Academy for Life on Feb. 16 drew little attention. Delivered in the Vatican’s private reception hall, the talk urged academy members to recognize a global “connection between the health of all and that of each individual” and to repel “the structural causes and policies that determine inequalities.”

it has never been more important to dedicate time, people, and expertise to safeguarding life and health. In regard to the latter, Pope Francis affirmed that it is not a consumer good, but a universal right which means that access to health care services cannot be a privilege.

The word “privilege” was Francis’ jab at free market economics, which he accused of sustaining “the invisible tyranny of money that only guarantees the privileges of a few.” Leo repeats it with intent. He called for “sustainable healthcare systems capable of satisfying every health need in a world of limited resources.”

Academy members were well familiar with Leo’s citation from Francis’s 2016 address to Doctors with Africa (CUAMM). They were alert to its distinction between health itself and healthcare. Leo was replicating Francis’ designation of health — res ipsa — as a comprehensive entitlement indivisible from the lengthening fabric of human rights. He enjoined Catholics to “find effective means of strengthening international and multinational relationships” in order to eradicate inequalities in health worldwide.

Leo follows his predecessor in specifying inequality as the root of social ills. The Argentine pope’s documented comfort with dictatorial Latin American regimes prompted Yale scholar and Cuban exile Carlos Eire to write of Francis’ “preferential option for oppressors.” That sympathy is materializing on Leo’s watch as an emerging component of the Catholic Church’s social doctrine…..”

  6. “In Effort To Kill Spiders, Pennsylvania Man Sets His House On Fire”

Not The Bee, Mister Retrops, Mar 18, 2026

Image for article: In Effort To Kill Spiders, Pennsylvania Man Sets His House On Fire

“Sean McDermott of Pocono Pines, Pennsylvania, had a spider problem in his house, so he did the most rational thing possible.

Yep, he tried to burn the spiders out. According to WFMZ,

Police spoke with a witness who said that he had observed the owner of unit 616, Sean McDermott, setting small fires within the townhome throughout the day.

McDermott said that he needed to kill the spiders within the residence, according to the witness. He said McDermott had a smoldering fire going on the floor and then placed a love seat on top of the fire.

McDermott then fled the scene in a U-Haul truck as the fire consumed his home and three others.

But if you think the story ends there, buckle up. CBS News continues the story:

The NYPD received an alert Wednesday from police in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for U-Haul box truck driven by a male suspect.

The truck was spotted on 28th Street and Madison Avenue Wednesday night. The NYPD Bomb Squad responded and found the truck contained 52 canisters of nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas, police sources said.

McDermott was later arrested in the city. Given that one of the side effects of nitrous oxide inhalation is hallucinations, there’s a chance there were never any spiders in McDermott’s house. But if there were, well, we can at least appreciate his motives for arson, right?”

“It pushes the idea that men with three or four wives, men living with teenage boys, and ‘non-normative,’ loving relationships are just like a family with the Western, biblically-based trad home of a mom and dad,” the report mocked. “This is the beginning of another trend to move the leftist goalposts. A new battleground. A new ‘fight’ — and remember, ‘there is only the fight.’ It’s a trend in which the left begins yet another attack on the Western way of life, family, God, and community to ‘fix’ a problem where none or next-to-none existed.”

  11. JUST IN: Florida Southern College has just created an ROTC SCHOLARSHIP in honor of fallen Captain Cody Khork, who was lost to Operation Epic Fury

    Well-deserved

SHERIFF GRADY JUDD: “Normally, the pictures I hold up are of bad guys. This is a hero. This man went off to war at the direction of his country.”

“This is Captain Cody Khork. He’s 35. He’s from Winter Haven.”

“He was in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was called up. He died in the early days as a result of an attack.”

“His family has asked that we escort him past Florida Southern College, where he went to college.”

“This man is a hero, and he died in order that we can live in a free and democratic society, and he did what was asked of him of his country.”

“Once he is escorted to the funeral home, which is in Winter Haven, he will remain there until he has services this weekend, and then on Monday we will escort him to Bushnell, which is his final resting place.”

“From the time he arrives in Polk County on that airplane until the time we take him to Bushnell, Captain Cody will not be by himself.”

“Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, there will be a deputy standing guard because it’s the right thing to do. We’re proud of him.”

“We’re proud of all our military personnel that are standing in the gap and doing what this country has asked of them.”

  12. Just The News: “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared in-person Thursday for a press conference where he confirmed that he was still alive amid rumors circulating over the past week that the leader was dead. Social media posts on Netanyahu’s rumored death began spreading last week while Israel and Iran traded air attacks amid a regional conflict in the Middle East.

The leader posted a video of himself at a cafe on Monday to debunk the reports, which was recorded in the outskirts of Jerusalem.

“I am alive. You are all witnesses,” Netanyahu joked at the press conference. “I want to close these opening remarks with one other fake news, and that is that Israel somehow dragged the U.S. into a conflict with Iran. Does anyone really think that someone can tell President Trump what to do? Come on. Trump always makes his decisions based on what’s best for America.”

Netanyahu also gave an update on the conflict with Iran, stating that the Middle Eastern powerhouse can no longer enrich uranium, marking a significant victory for the U.S. and Israel, who have been targeting Iran’s nuclear program.

“We are winning, and Iran is being decimated,” Netanyahu said. “What we’re destroying now are the factories that produce the components to make these missiles and to make the nuclear weapons that they’re trying to produce.”

The Israeli leader also claimed that it will be up to the Iranian people to finish toppling its current regime and that it was too soon to tell whether they would seize the moment to do so.”

  13. “The Nuclear Fatwa That Never Was: The “fatwa” against Iranian nukes is one of the most successful disinformation campaigns of the 21st century.”

Jordan Schachtel, Mar 19, 2026 (Today’s article is sponsored by Ground News):

EXCERPT: “Joe Kent, who was serving as the Trump Administration’s counterterrorism director before abruptly resigning this week, sprinted to Tucker Carlson’s show the day after he left his post to argue that Iran was never really weeks away from a nuclear weapon. His key evidence? A “longstanding religious fatwa” prohibiting the Islamic Republic from developing one.

You can watch the clip here some 30 mins into the show:

There’s one small problem with Kent’s analysis: that fatwa doesn’t exist, and it never did. What does exist is one of the most cynically effective pieces of Iranian propaganda ever deployed against the West, and the fact that American officials and media figures are still citing it in 2026 is a testament to just how badly our foreign policy establishment has failed at basic due diligence on Iran.

Let’s start with the fundamental issue. There is no formal text of the fatwa that has ever been made publicly available. What eventually became something of a fraudulent diplomatic staple, cited by everyone from Barack Obama to European negotiators during the JCPOA talks, was in reality a mere paragraph of the late Ayatollah Khamenei’s message to the first International Conference on Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, which Tehran hosted in 2010.

The segment of the message marketed by the Iranian diplomatic missions as a “fatwa” reads: “We believe that adding to nuclear weapons and other types of weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical weapons and biological weapons, are a serious threat to humanity. The Iranian nation, which itself is a victim of the use of chemical weapons, feels more than other nations the danger of the production and accumulation of such weapons and is ready to put all its resources in the way of dealing with it. We consider the use of these weapons to be haram (forbidden), and the effort to protect mankind from this great disaster is everyone’s duty.”

That’s it. A conference statement. Typically, heads of state issue statements or messages to conferences, not fatwas. Yet this single paragraph, in which Khamenei expressed a general opinion that weapons of mass destruction were “haram,” was packaged, branded, and sold to Western governments as a binding religious prohibition. Framing this opinion as a fatwa aimed to alleviate international pressure by invoking religious beliefs that would persuade a global audience of its credibility.

The timing alone is revealing. Between 2006 and 2010, six UN Security Council sanctions resolutions targeting Tehran’s nuclear program were enacted, and Khamenei’s purported fatwa was released squarely amid this backdrop. It wasn’t a sincere religious ruling, but a strategic maneuver.

Former Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei

Even some Tehran officials have admitted as much. Perhaps the clearest proof that the “fatwa” was always a political instrument rather than a genuine religious constraint is how openly Iranian officials have discussed discarding it whenever convenient.

In a January 2024 interview, former Iranian diplomat and IRGC brigadier-general Amir Mousavi stated flatly that “a fatwa is not permanent, according to Jaafari Shia jurisprudence” and that “if the Americans and Zionists act in a dangerous manner, the fatwa might be changed.” This wasn’t some rogue statement. His comment confirms that Tehran’s national security decisionmaking is dictated by the principle of “regime expediency.”

And as recently as February 2025, IRGC commanders were actively declaring that Khamenei could at any moment rescind the supposed fatwa on nuclear weapons altogether. Even if it were real, it wouldn’t matter.

There is one final consideration that renders the entire debate essentially moot, and it is a point that Kent and others who traffic in this narrative studiously avoid. Even assuming, against all evidence, that a genuine and binding fatwa existed, it would provide cold comfort against a regime whose Shia theological framework explicitly permits the practice of taqiyya, or the use of deliberate deception to protect and advance Islamic interests against enemies. When your adversary’s own doctrinal tradition enshrines strategic deception as a legitimate tool of statecraft, citing their public religious statements as a reliable constraint on behavior is not strategic analysis, to put it mildly.

The nuclear fatwa narrative was a sophisticated information operation executed by Tehran and its allies, and it was absorbed wholesale by Western governments and analysts desperate to believe that diplomacy was working. It provided cover for Iran to advance its nuclear capabilities while maintaining the appearance of religious restraint. Tracking Khamenei’s statements over two decades demonstrates he never formally issued a fatwa against building a nuclear weapon, and only tentatively and revocably spoke against the use of weapons of mass destruction.

Joe Kent went on one of the most-watched political programs in America and repeated Iranian regime talking points as if they were established fact. The country may indeed be lucky he resigned. It is considerably less lucky that the foreign policy worldview he represents remains alive and well in the discourse.”

  14. Just The News: “Former FBI Director James Comey has been subpoenaed as part of the Justice Department’s “grand conspiracy” probe, two sources confirmed to Just The News Thursday.

The investigation is looking into claims that Democrats attempted to undermine President Donald Trump, treating the last decade of political weaponization of law enforcement and intelligence agencies as an ongoing criminal conspiracy.

The probe is being led by Jason A. Reding Quiñones, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon is overseeing the case, according to Axios.

Comey has not commented on the subpoena, which was issued last week, but previously decried allegations of a “grand conspiracy” as political persecution and lawfare.”

  15. EXCERPT: “U.S. officials detected unidentified drones above the Washington Army base where Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth live, according to three people briefed on the situation. Officials have not determined where they came from, two of the people said.

The military is monitoring potential threats more closely because of the heightened alert level as the United States and Israel strike Iran, according to a senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive security matters. Multiple drones were spotted over Fort Lesley J. McNair on a single night in the last 10 days, the official said, prompting increased security measures and a meeting at the White House to discuss how to respond.

The drone sightings in Washington come as the U.S. issued a global security alert for overseas diplomatic posts and locked down several domestic bases because of threats. This week, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey and MacDill Air Force Base in Florida raised their force protection level to Charlie — a designation that means the commander has intelligence indicating an attack or danger is possible. The only higher alert level, Delta, is for when an attack has occurred or is anticipated…..”
