    1. Good morning, Pat! I took some Nyquil so I slept well. I agree – it’s a royal PITA! Sunshine and 41 here this morning. More and more birds arriving every day….won’t be long now before I need to put the jelly out for the Orioles.

          1. there are 2 pink nests! and yes still there snugly on their branches–a little worse for wear, but with the snow, wind, and ice–they are still hanging on!
They won’t reuse that nest, but they may try to take pieces from them. I can’t wait to see.
and i only knew of the one pink one–tight in my line of sight from my chair, but when the leaves fell in fall, I spotted ANOTHER pink one in a different tree.

  1. bizarre ai behavior–but not unforeseen.

    article

An AI agent went rogue and started a side hustle mining cryptocurrencies, according to a new research paper published by an Alibaba-affiliated team.

Why it matters: AI agents don’t always stick to their human’s instructions — and that can have real-world consequences.

    • Cryptocurrency, or digital money, offers AI agents a pathway into the economy. They can set up their own businesses, draft contracts and exchange funds.

Driving the news: A new research paper from an Alibaba-affiliated research team said it discovered an AI agent attempting unauthorized cryptocurrency mining during training — a surprise behavior that triggered internal security alarms.

    • The researchers — who were building a new AI agent called ROME said they found “unanticipated” and spontaneous behaviors emerge “without any explicit instruction and, more troublingly, outside the bounds of the intended sandbox.”
    • The agent also made a “reverse SSH tunnel” — essentially opening a hidden backdoor from the inside of the system to an outside computer, the study said.
    • “Notably, these events were not triggered by prompts requesting tunneling or mining,” the report said.

In response, the researchers added tighter restrictions for the model and improved its training process to stop unsafe behavior from happening again.

    • The research team, and Alibaba, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Flashback: We saw something similar with the Moltbook saga.

    • Moltbook, a Reddit-style social network, showed AI agents chatting with each other about the work they did for humans. They talked about crypto, too.

Zoom out: Fears about the impact of AI has moved markets and incited viral discourse about doomsday scenarios.

    • Earlier this week, Google Gemini was cited in a wrongful-death suit alleging the chatbot led a Florida man into delusional behavior, which ultimately led to him take his own life.
    • Dan Botero, head of engineering at Anon, an AI integration platform, built an OpenClaw agent that decided without prompting to find a job, Axios’ Megan Morrone reported.
    • Anthropic’s Claude model drew backlash in May 2025 after its own researchers found that its Claude 4 Opus model had the ability to conceal intentions and take action to keep itself alive.

The bottom line: AI agents going beyond their prompts are no longer rare.

  2. muzzies throw homemade “bombs” at anti muzzie protesters in NYC…guess who’s the victim? the mayor–madmani and his wife.

    FTA

Indeed, Attorney General Letitia James recently banned a Jewish group known as ‘Betar’ for simply standing up to Muslim violence.

The police wouldn’t be pussyfooting around with trying to determine motive and functionality with any other group. But the terrorists now have one of their own in Gracie Mansion.

“In a statement, a spokesperson for Mamdani said that “the ‘Crusade Against Islamification’ gathering held outside Gracie Mansion today by Jake Lang, a vile white supremacist, was despicable and Islamophobic. Thankfully, the Mayor and the First Lady are both safe, though the events are a stark reminder of the threats they both face regularly.”

Threats from their own people throwing explosive devices at non-Muslim opponents? Much like Mamdani’s fake aunt couldn’t ride the subway after 9/11, Mamdani is the real victim of Muslims throwing bombs at non-Muslims.

“Great Job by hard working Scott Pressler on Fox & Friends talking about using the Filibuster, or Talking Filibuster, in order to pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, an 88% issue with ALL VOTERS,” he wrote on social media.

“It must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else. MUST GO TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE. I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed, AND NOT THE WATERED DOWN VERSION – GO FOR THE GOLD,” he added.

  5. Just The News: “The U.S. Justice Department is seeking the reinstatement of President Donald Trump’s executive orders that targeted a number of major law firms, a move that reverses the earlier position of the government, which had sought to dismiss the cases in court.

In a new filing with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, the government lawyers asked the appeals court to reinstate the government’s appeals of the lower court rulings that had blocked the Trump administration’s executive orders. The lower court judges had declared the orders as unconstitutional and had barred them from taking effect.

The Trump administration’s executive orders targeted a number of major law firms, including Perkins Coie, WilmerHale, Jenner & Block, and Susman Godfrey, for taking cases or clients that were opposed to the policies of President Trump.

The law firms had faced the threat of being penalized by the government for representing clients who were opposed to the policies of the Trump administration.

The government had earlier informed the appeals court of its intention to dismiss the cases, but in a surprising move, the government lawyers have now asked the appeals court to reinstate the appeals.”

  7. Just The News: “A federal judge ruled that Kari Lake, who was selected by President Donald Trump to lead the U.S. Agency for Global Media, did not have the legal authority to carry out a series of sweeping changes at the agency.

Lake has dramatically scaled back operations at Voice of America. Founded during World War II, the service became a major channel through which the United States communicated with people living under censorship or limited press freedom.

Under Lake, contracts with journalists and producers have been terminated, and most employees have been laid off. Programming that once aired in dozens of languages dwindled to just a small handful, leaving the newsroom running with a skeleton staff.

Lake had been tapped to effectively lead the agency responsible for Voice of America as well as outlets like Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. However, she had not received confirmation from the U.S. Senate.

“Only the Appointments Clause or the Vacancies Act’s exclusive structure may authorize service as a principal officer, and Lake satisfies the requirements of neither the statute nor the Constitution,” U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth wrote.”

  9. “As you’re enjoying your weekend, have you ever stopped to wonder… who decided we needed a day off? And why is it on Sunday?

The answer takes us back exactly 1,705 years ago today. On March 7, 321 AD, the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great issued one of the most influential decrees in the history of…well, your work-life balance. Before Constantine, the Roman week was a chaotic, eight-day market cycle. But on this day, he aligned the Empire with a new seven-day system and declared that Sunday—which he called “the venerable day of the Sun”—would be the official day of rest.

Think about the impact of that single decision: Courts closed. No trials, no legal battles. Workshops shut. Smiths, carpenters, and artisans put down their tools. People rested. In an empire built on constant labor and conquest, the state had just mandated a pause.

But why “Sunday”? It was a political masterstroke. Constantine, the first Christian emperor, was navigating a religious divide. Devoted Christians already revered the “Lord’s Day.” By choosing Sunday, he aligned it with the popular pagan cult of Sol Invictus (the Unconquered Sun). It was a day everyone, regardless of their faith, could honor. It was a brilliant move to unify his empire.

So, the next time you’re enjoying a lazy Sunday brunch or binge-watching your favorite show, remember Emperor Constantine. He didn’t just change the calendar; he changed the rhythm of human life itself.”

  10. Trenton, NJ – New Jersey lawmakers have introduced legislation that would make it illegal for employers to discriminate against workers based on menstruation, perimenopause, or menopause under the state’s Law Against Discrimination regardless of what gender the person identifies as.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. Vin Gopal of Monmouth County and Sen. Angela V. McKnight of Hudson County, would add those conditions to the list of protected characteristics in the state’s civil rights law.

The New Jersey bill would ban workplace discrimination tied to menstruation, perimenopause, and menopause,  the protections would apply to employees of any gender when symptoms affect job performance, and the measure would expand the state’s Law Against Discrimination

The proposal would amend the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination to make it unlawful for employers to refuse to hire, fire, or otherwise treat workers differently because of menstruation, perimenopause, or menopause.

Under the bill, the protections would apply when symptoms substantially interfere with an employee’s ability to perform one or more job functions.

This newly released body cam footage from the March 2025 DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace shows the insane resistance Trump faced from day one.

As Edward Coristine (aka Big Balls) told Jesse Watters last year, this was the “least peaceful” of all the agencies to deal with, and that it used taxpayer funds for private jets, an armory filled with weapons, and contracts with the former members of the Taliban (!!)

These are grown adults in full meltdown mode because they realized the gravy train was coming to an end. They referred to lawful orders as “jackbooted police state actions” while refusing to vacate the premises after President Trump issued an order firing them and sending in his DOGE team to clean house.

What you see in this video isn’t democracy, it’s an insight into how wild and entitled the DC swamp had grown.

Even the officers who were on the scene to ensure order became impatient after realizing these defiant bureaucrats weren’t even USIP employees when one said, “we’re their lawyers” who were trying to regain access to “classified information” pertaining to “other cases” outside of USIP’s purview.

George Foote, one of the lawyers there, even pushed to have Trump officials arrested as “unauthorized intruders.”

Elon Musk later revealed on X that USIP’s chief accountant attempted to wipe over a terabyte of financial data in a desperate cover-up – but DOGE recovered it, and it’s now with the DOJ for review.

Unelected ideologues fleecing taxpayer dollars shouldn’t block the people’s choice. This is what draining the swamp looks like, and it’s horrifying just how out of control it had all become.

  12. Just The News: “President Donald Trump brushed aside a threat from a senior Iranian security official who said he would “pay the price” for the recent U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran.

In an interview with CBS News on Saturday, Trump said he was not concerned by the statement from Ali Larijani, a leading figure in Iran’s national security establishment.

Trump suggested he barely knew the official and indicated that the warning would not change the administration’s strategy as the military campaign against Iran continues. “I have no idea what he’s talking about, who he is. I couldn’t care less,” he said.”

  13. Just The News: “Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian threatened to intensify attacks on American targets across the Middle East, declaring that Iran “will not bow” to pressure from the United States and Israel.

His remarks appeared to walk back conciliatory comments he made Saturday toward Gulf neighbors. In those earlier comments, he apologized for strikes on their territory, but Iranian hardliners quickly contradicted the statement.

U.S. intelligence officials believe Russia has provided Iran with information that could help target U.S. troops and assets in the Middle East, according to the Associated Press.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said in a Sunday interview that “military cooperation between Iran and Russia is not something new.”

  15. “The same Missouri claw machine becomes a toddler trap for the second time in the past month”

Not The Bee, Harriet Rigby, Mar 7, 2026

Image for article: The same Missouri claw machine becomes a toddler trap for the second time in the past month

“Twice within the past month, a little boy has found himself trapped inside the claw machine at the Soccer Dome in Webster Groves, Missouri.

Maybe it’s the older siblings playing soccer nearby that makes having a ball of their own particularly attractive, or maybe it’s just the allure of the forbidden behind that plexiglass wall, but whatever the case, something about those cheap, colorful rubber balls is impossible for toddlers to resist.

The latest example is of 3-year-old Patrick Campbell, who was at the sports complex for his sister’s soccer game, when he climbed into the machine. When he was later asked why, the 3-year-old told First Alert 4,

    I get ball.

Just a few weeks earlier, Patrick’s younger spirit brother (no relation), 2-year-old Cooper King, was at the soccer dome for his brother’s game when he made his way into the claw machine and refused to come out.

Cooper’s mom told First Alert 4, at the time,

He’s laughing, throwing balls everywhere. We were like, ‘Cooper, try and go back down.’ And he was shaking his head.

The fire department ended up being called, and the vending machine company had to come unlock the machine to get Cooper out. Thankfully for the Campbells, 3-year-old Patrick was more cooperative and did not require emergency assistance.

I guess being 3, he was both older and wiser than Cooper. But he did seem to be having every bit as much fun.

The Webster Grover Fire Department says that they are now prepared with a toolkit to open the claw machine in case this happens again, which, if recent history is any indication, is looking pretty likely.”

“After strikes on oil facilities around Tehran, black rain began falling across parts of the city. Dark, oily water coated rooftops, streets, and cars.

Burning petroleum infrastructure can release massive plumes of soot and hydrocarbon particles into the atmosphere. When moisture condenses around these particles, precipitation can carry the pollution back to the ground. The result: black rain. Industrial warfare meets atmospheric chemistry.”
