Red-Bearded Bee Eater

The red-bearded bee-eater (Nyctyornis amictus) is a large species of bee-eater found in southern Myanmar, the Thai-Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sumatra and nearby smaller islands. This species is found in openings in patches of dense forest.

Description

Like other bee-eaters, they are colorful birds with long tails, long decurved beaks and pointed wings. They are large bee-eaters, predominantly green, with a red coloration to face that extends on to the slightly hanging throat feathers to form the “beard”. Their eyes are orange.

Diet

Like other bee-eaters, they predominantly eat insects, especially bees, wasps and hornets, which are caught in flight from perches concealed in foliage. They hunt alone or in pairs, rather than in flocks, and sit motionless for long periods before pursuing their prey.

Behavior

Like other bee-eaters, they nest in burrows tunneled into the side of sandy banks, but do not form colonies.

    1. Morning, Pat! No, IDR it – from some movie, I assume? Looks like it’s from a horror movie and, since I haven’t watched any of those for many years, I doubt I’ve seen it. Wheezer was sleeping on the chair – we’ve got light rain and 40 and he is wet so he hasn’t been there long. I had mixed the older tuna in with the dry food and he had eaten some of that. I added a heaping spoonful of fresh tuna on top and he jumped down to eat that, then back up on the chair for more snooze time. Good looking birds!

It’s from the 70-80’s maybe? Adrienne Barbeau in The Fog. I was still at home walking to the factory (about a 20 minute walk) from mom’s house to the factory. After I saw that movie–the first walk in the fog was really CREEPY…LOLOLOL
We watched it a few months ago and I laughed at the cheesy effects and wondered how I ever let it creep me out back then.

A Russian national appeared in a Houston, Texas court Thursday for allegedly submitting over $400 million in fraudulent Medicare claims.

Nikolai Buzolin, 38, registered Verisola, Inc. in Houston as a fraudulent durable medical equipment company in July 2025, according to a Department of Justice press release. He allegedly opened six separate bank accounts at different financial institutions in the company’s name in just nine days between July and August 2025, opening another two accounts at two separate institutions in September and October 2025. Buzolin also submitted “false documentation” listing himself as the company’s sole owner, despite not being its sole owner to “disguise the true ownership and control of Verisola.”

Verisola submitted over $400 million in fraudulent claims between August 2025 and January 2026 to Medicare Advantage Organizations for durable medical equipment, “including orthotic braces and glucose monitors” which the press release states “were never actually provided to patients.” These organizations reimbursed Verisola “at least $1.7 million” for the fraudulent claims, which was deposited into the various bank accounts Buzolin opened. The press release said Buzolin “wired at least $1.2 million of fraud proceeds to overseas entities.”

The man traveled from Houston to Los Angeles, where the FBI arrested him after he purchased a same-day, one-way ticket to Moscow, Russia. Buzolin has been charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and, if convicted, will face a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Loudermilk sent a letter Thursday to Mr. Srini Gopalan, the CEO of T-Mobile, along with an enclosed subpoena. The letter said “We believe T-Mobile possesses information critical to our oversight and legislative reforms.”

Loudermilk blasted then-FBI Director Chris Wray’s failures in the investigation.

He wrote that the suspect, Brian Cole, Jr., was captured five times on surveillance footage using a cellphone in the areas where the bombs were planted. The committee is “conducting oversight of law enforcement response and subsequent investigation.”

WOW! This moment is resurfacing of DHS Sec. nominee Markwayne Mullin saying in President Trump’s 2020 campaign, he dropped EVERYTHING to visit Mullin’s young son in the hospital after a bad wrestling accident They will work GREAT together!

“He flew to Bakersfield CA JUST to meet my son! And sat there and encouraged him and talked to him.” “They tried to get him to leave…he looked at them, ‘hey, guarantee you the plane won’t leave without me!’” “Did that win him a vote? Were there cameras around? The only thing he cared about was him [the son].” “Someone that loves on your kids — that makes a huge difference. He didn’t do it for fanfare, no social media release. Just him being who he is. That’s the guy I know well!”

  5. EXCERPT: “The Supreme Court in an emergency ruling this week temporarily blocked a New York state court order that would have required the redrawing of a congressional district represented by GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis – preserving the existing map for the 2026 midterm elections and perhaps provide an early glimpse into how the justices could approach another major redistricting case currently pending before them: Louisiana v. Callais.

Voters Challenge NY-11 in State Court

In October 2025, a group of voters sued New York election officials in state court, arguing their 11th Congressional District violates Article III, § 4 of the New York Constitution by diluting the voting power of Black and Latino residents.

NY-11 includes all of Staten Island and sections of southwest Brooklyn and is currently represented by Malliotakis. The congresswoman and several voters intervened to defend the map, which was adopted by the New York Legislature in 2024 and approved by the state’s Independent Redistricting Commission.

After a four-day bench trial in January 2026, New York Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Pearlman ruled for the plaintiffs. Pearlman concluded that the district unlawfully deprived minority voters of an equal opportunity to elect candidates of their choice.

The court blocked the existing map and ordered the Independent Redistricting Commission to redraw NY-11 as a “crossover district” designed to enhance minority voters’ electoral influence in both primary and general elections.

State officials and Malliotakis appealed and sought emergency stays from the Appellate Division and the New York Court of Appeals, but both courts declined to halt the ruling while the appeal proceeded. The applicants then turned to the U.S. Supreme Court for emergency relief.

    Supreme Court Intervenes

In an unsigned order, the Supreme Court granted the stay requested by Malliotakis and co-applicants. The January 21, 2026, state trial court order is now stayed pending resolution of the state appeals (and any subsequent petition for certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court). This means that the current NY-11 boundaries remain in effect for the 2026 midterm elections, preventing any immediate redraw.

In a concurring opinion, Justice Alito described the trial court’s order as “blatantly discriminat[ing] on the basis of race” by requiring a new district “for the express purpose of ensuring that ‘minority voters’ are able to elect the candidate of their choice.”

Alito characterized the ruling as “unadorned racial discrimination” that likely violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, citing the Court’s 2023 decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard………”

  6. EXCERPT: “After more than 22 hours of debate, the Agriculture Committee in the House of Representatives voted early Thursday morning to advance the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026.

Seven Democrats – despite voicing objections to measures limiting federal investments into farmland solar projects and loosening restrictions on PFAS chemicals and pesticides – ultimately supported the bill. Those included Democratic Reps. Adam Gray and Jim Costa of California, Josh Riley from New York, Sharice Davids of Kansas, Don Davis of North Carolina, Gabe Vasquez of New Mexico, and Kristen McDonald Rivet of Michigan.

The five-year bipartisan farm bill renews and enhances crop insurance, disaster assistance, risk management programs, loans for farmers, and federal agricultural research. It also invests in rural broadband connectivity, forestry management, rural water infrastructure and hospital assistance, and the Rural Energy for America Program.

Additionally, it transfers authority over the Food for Peace initiative from USAID to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, requiring at least 50% of food distributed to be sourced from the U.S.

Committee Chairman Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., said the bill totals roughly $1.3 trillion and “reflects the will of the committee, and it is filled with bipartisan provisions that will move the needle for farmers, ranchers, and rural Americans across the country.”….”

  7. HERE WE GO!!!! LET’S DO IT!!!!

“In a move reflecting the contentious political climate, Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has proposed a constitutional amendment that would enable a president to serve three terms, specifically aiming to extend Donald Trump’s tenure in the White House. This proposal seeks to modify the 22nd Amendment, which currently restricts presidents to two terms. Ogles argues that Trump’s leadership is crucial for reversing the nation’s decline and restoring its former glory, making a strong case for the necessity of this extraordinary change in American governance.

Amending the Constitution requires a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress followed by ratification from three-fourths of the state legislatures, a challenging feat especially given the current political alignments and the controversial nature of the proposal.

It’s just as well because as much as I like the guy’s policies, there are more than a few good, solid, conservative Republicans out there who can follow his lead.

NF: Needless to say, I disagree 110%! I would LOVE another 4 years of Trump!!!!

  8. OK, I was watching Wheezer thru the patio door and noticed he kept licking his leg. When I looked closer, I could see the white of a gash about 1.5 inches long on his back leg. It’s white because he’s diligently licking it and keeping it clean and it’s not actively bleeding, thankfully. I gotta say, tho, he’s looking really rough. Very thin, rough coat, clear breathing issues, a bit shaky on his legs….I doubt that he’s going to make it a lot longer but, then, ya’ just never know with strays. When I actively consider taking him to a vet somehow (my Sis used my cat carrier for Jake), I quickly realize I’d be looking at upwards of $1K in vet bills. Nope, just can’t justify that!

I went outside to the patio to measure the base of the wood stove that I want to install on the CW tree stump since I’ve called Chance to come and cut it down some – I want to also have him use his chain saw and cut 4 holes around the center for the legs. I noticed on my way back that Wheezer had eaten again and what remained was stuck to the bottom of the dish. So I picked it up, added more dry food and stirred it all up, then took it out to him.

I was stroking his back as he moved over to the dish – with his tail standing straight up, he farted….vvvt, vvvt, vvvt, vvvt….every step he took over to the dish!!! ROFLMAO – what a putz! Literally farting in my face!!!😂🤣😅😊😉🙂😏🙄🙃😜

  11. “The Paramount Purchase Could Revive American Excellence In Hollywood — Paramount CEO David Ellison understands that pro-American films and television are worth investing in.”

The Federalist, By: Brooke Brandtjen, March 06, 2026

    hollywood studio drone shot

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “This past week, Warner Brothers was sold to Paramount Skydance in a $110 billion acquisition deal. Although the path toward securing regulatory approval may take up to a year, the two are slated to combine their streaming services, consolidate infrastructure, and continue to license their intellectual properties. Paramount’s CEO, David Ellison, has drawn criticism from the corporate media and Hollywood insiders for having connections with the Trump administration.

In an article from Variety, one unnamed “A-list director” stated that “Ellison scares the sh-t out of me… Are the movies they put out going to be catered to Trump’s taste?” The unnamed director’s fear about the future of film and television under Paramount is a blatant attempt at fear-mongering. Ellison has made no indication that he will censor content or deplatform creatives; he is a businessman who wants high box office returns. His only discrepancy is choosing to avoid Hollywood’s recent pattern of explicitly planting leftist narratives in films.

In 2025, Sinners was released and made history as the first film to ever receive 16 nominations at the Academy Awards. The film grossed $369 million worldwide, thanks in large part to an aggressive marketing campaign. The movie’s plot tried to portray Christianity as oppressive, linking faith with Jim Crow practices. It also uses a string of not-so-subtle metaphors to portray white people as vampires. Although the movie received praise for its cinematography, it ostracized a majority of audiences by creating a social justice narrative.

In contrast, two of Ellison’s major projects have included helping to produce the Mission: Impossible franchise, as well as the smash hit Top Gun: Maverick. The Mission: Impossible films have grossed $4.7 billion worldwide across eight different movies, with the most recent, The Final Reckoning, grossing almost $600 million. Top Gun: Maverick is one of the highest-grossing films ever made, earning $1.49 billion worldwide after its Memorial Day 2022 opening. Ellison clearly understands that audiences don’t need social justice narratives when they head to the movies.

What the aforementioned “A-list director” is afraid of is portraying American greatness. The Mission: Impossible franchise and the Top Gun revival each portrayed their American leads as smart, strong, and valiant. The main characters represent chivalry and virtue. The films always end with the bad guys being defeated and the good guys saving the day. They didn’t need to explore racial themes or critique America’s Christian heritage to be successful.

Some of the highest-grossing films of the 21st century have largely represented American greatness. In the 2010s, when Marvel films were routinely landing billion-dollar box office returns, the stories focused on brave Americans saving the United States. Whether it was Captain America fighting off Nazis or Tony Stark using his technological skills to escape a Middle Eastern hostage situation, the movies’ successes were enhanced by their patriotic themes. Other films including Argo and American Sniper were met with critical and financial acclaim while highlighting American excellence.

Paramount has already seen huge success by giving writer and director Taylor Sheridan enormous control over pro-America projects. Sheridan helped develop some of the most lucrative shows of the 21st century, including YellowstoneLandman, and Tulsa King. His work highlights American stories that lean into the country’s setting and history.

Ellison’s pursuit of pro-American content is a smart financial investment. The American people love to see their fellow countrymen succeeding. In recent years, however, Hollywood seems to have taken the opposite approach.

Films that are explicitly anti-patriotic can turn away audiences. Vice, Adam McKay’s 2018 satirical takedown of Dick Cheney and the Bush era, was a box office flop. On the other hand, sometimes controversial content drives viewership. Don’t Look Up preached climate justice allegories but was slammed by audiences and received poor critical ratings. Still, it was one of the most widely-streamed movies of the year it was released. Media that sought to deconstruct the classical superhero narrative — like Suicide Squad or the television series The Boys — leaned into criticizing American culture. However, both saw sizable box office returns, with The Boys receiving a now-rare five-season run.

The Paramount and Warner Brothers deal also requires studios to place movies in theaters for 45-day theatrical runs. The cost of going to the movie theater has risen, meaning audiences need to feel like a film is “worth” the price of admission, food, and transportation. People are willing to show up to a film like Top Gun: Maverick that promotes American excellence, as evidenced by its financial success.

Ellison understands that pro-American films and television are worth investing in. Although Hollywood has tried to suppress patriotic creative works, there is an audience hungry for content that celebrates America.”

Fetterman replied, “Yes, well, I mean, I just wanted to say that I watched, like, the highlights that you showed, especially the ship getting blown out of the water. Now, I remember the Iranian generals were saying that our ships were going to end at the bottom of the ocean, and that’s theirs. Like, look at that again. It’s on the screen right now. Boom! You know, like, I love it, you know what I mean?

And so I don’t know why we can’t be on and just celebrate that, but I guarantee you, every single member of the Congress that you just had there said we can never allow Iran to acquire a nuclear bomb. And now, now that that’s happened now, and now it’s made that impossible right now, and then we all agree. They all now say, well, we won’t – we won’t grieve, you know that the Ayatollah is gone.”

He certainly doesn’t sound like your run-of-the-mill looney leftie, does he? Heard an interesting thing on my local news radio station this morning. Guy says if Fetterman would run for President (I myself don’t think he would ’cause he’d have to get dressed up every day), he could win, even running as a Democrat. But for one thing, he noted. THIS Democrat party would never, ever nominate him. Interesting thought….”

  16. 11 year old JAILED AGAIN for threatening to kill teachers. the last line from the sheriff is GOLD!

    article

An 11-year-old was jailed yet again after he sent a threatening message to teachers at a local middle school, according to Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood.

In a release, Chitwood said this was the student’s second arrest involving a written threat to kill.

“He’s already in a diversion program for his last arrest back in October at Southwestern Middle School,” the release reads. “Back then, he sent a group message ‘IM GONNA SHOOT YOU’ from another student’s Gradebook Communications account.”

But on Thursday, he once again used another student’s account to send a message reading, “imma shoot you” to seven teachers at DeLand Middle School, Chitwood added.

“Now, understand this. We have 63,000 students and 4,400 teachers in Volusia County Schools,” Chitwood stated. “I know some want to make excuses and coddle the select few who choose to make threats. You can pat them on the head and tell them everything’s going to be alright. My job is to look out for everyone else.”

As such, the sheriff warned parents to discipline their children so that he doesn’t have to.

“If you can threaten to shoot seven teachers, you can take a perp walk,” Chitwood finished.

The Democrats’ refusal to fund Homeland Security in the middle of combat operations against the leading state sponsor of terrorism is the single most irresponsible vote since Congress voted to pay “tribute” to the Barbary Pirates…

…As Democrats refuse to fund DHS, the trial of the ringleader behind the Iranian plot to assassinate President Trump is ongoing in New York. With the unlawful entry of thousands of unvetted Iranians during the Biden Administration, the position of Democrats is incomprehensible.

…The only hope is that Iranian sleeper cells will assume that this is a trick because no government would be moronic enough to cut funding for homeland security in the midst of a fight with the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism.

FTA “For a generation, the FBI has kept a second set of books called ‘prohibited access’ files. After a long fight, they’re finally being examined. A Federal Bureau of Investigation task force has begun excavating the separate set of books FBI keeps using an inaccessible “prohibited access” file designation, according to multiple government sources. Though an internal fight over how to handle the files continues, embattled FBI Director Kash Patel has assigned personnel to examine decades of hidden history, Racket News has learned, with some files already turned over to Congress. “This is it — the deep state,” one of the sources said.

Files given a prohibited access designation are not merely secret. They are “ghosts” which “do not exist,” records rigged to return false negatives when searched for in the FBI’s SENTINEL system. They’re digital descendants of paper records that as far back as Richard Nixon’s presidency were kept in locked offices, accessible to just a few officials, typically at the deputy director level and above. Currently, the number of people with the ability to access the files can be counted on one hand.
The implications of the nation’s chief federal law enforcement and counter-intelligence organization having kept a separate, non-searchable filing system are mind-boggling. “It’s not like turning over a rock and finding a few bugs,” said retired FBI Supervisory Analyst George Hill. “It’s like turning over a manhole and finding a whole city.” “You don’t run a Constitutional republic on secret files,” added legal analyst Margot Cleveland. A current government source said the prohibited access designation is “literally designed to hide files from Congress and from the FBI itself. It’s really frigging bad.”

I’ll wait and see what comes of this if anything? Thank you Matt Taibbi!!!!
