      1. Good Morning and Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!!

we didn’t even do the card thing this morning. We were looking at them in walmart the other week and they were ridiculously expensive for what they were! We decided to pick one and show it to other and put them both back in the rack…lol.

I remember the Hallmark gift shops–aisles and aisles of cards and gifts…at reasonable prices. sigh…

  2. Just The News: “President Donald Trump declared Friday that voters will need to present identification to vote in the midterm elections this November, even if legislation does not get through Congress in time. The comment comes two days after the House passed the Republican-led Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act, which requires individuals to present proof of citizenship to register to vote and requires Americans to show ID when voting.

Trump said in a social media that he has “searched the depths of legal arguments” on voter identification and will be presenting an “irrefutable” argument in favor of requiring it in the “near future.”

“There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not,” he said.

The president continued in another post on Truth Social that the majority of voters are in favor of requiring IDs to vote in elections, including the majority of Democrats.

“It’s only the political ‘leaders,’ crooked losers like [Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer and [House Minority Leader Hakeem] Jeffries, that have no shame,” Trump wrote. “This is an issue that must be fought, and must be fought, NOW! If we can’t get it through Congress, there are legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted. I will be presenting them shortly, in the form of an Executive Order.”

Trump additionally claimed Americans do not want mail-in ballots in future elections except for military service members who are stationed overseas, people with disabilities or people who are traveling at the time of the election.

The comment comes as lawmakers in both chambers prepare for midterm elections later this year. The primaries begin next month while the general election will take place in November.”

  4. Just The News: “Secretary of State Marco Rubio will deliver the United States’ main address at the Munich Security Conference in Germany Saturday, as he leads the U.S. delegation a year after Vice President JD Vance spoke at the event.

Rubio, who is already in Germany to meet with European leaders privately, declined to go into specifics on the speech but said it was important that countries reevaluate their role in the world moving forward. “The Old World is gone,” Rubio told reporters as he departed for Europe Thursday. “Frankly, the world I grew up in, and we live in a new era in geopolitics, and it’s going to require all of us to re-examine what that looks like and what our role is going to be.”

The European trip marks Rubio’s third time at the conference, and second time as secretary of state, according to Fox News. He attended one year as a senator.

Other American politicians in Germany this weekend include former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

Vance is also overseas this week in Armenia and Azerbaijan, where he is signing a peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement with Armenia and a strategic partnership with Azerbaijan.”

  5. Just The News: “The Department of Homeland Security on Friday announced that it is ending Temporary Protected Status for Yemenis living in the U.S., about 1,400 in total. Yemenis have been continually protected from deportation under TPS since 2015, The Hill news outlet reported. TPS protects foreign nationals from being deported back to their native countries that are experiencing a natural disaster or civil unrest.

DHS said that TPS for Yemen will end in 60 days, after it began over 10 years ago due to “an ongoing armed conflict.”

The department said that Yemenis benefiting from TPS who are in the U.S. without any other lawful basis have 60 days to voluntarily leave. Yemenis are encouraged to use the CBP Home app to report their self-deportation from the U.S., which includes a complimentary plane ticket, a $2,600 exit bonus, and potential future opportunities for legal immigration.

After the 60 days, DHS may arrest and deport any Yemenis who no longer have a legal status in the U.S. “After reviewing conditions in the country and consulting with appropriate U.S. government agencies, I determined that Yemen no longer meets the law’s requirements to be designated for Temporary Protected Status,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said.

“Allowing TPS Yemen beneficiaries to remain temporarily in the United States is contrary to our national interest. TPS was designed to be temporary, and this administration is returning TPS to its original temporary intent. We are prioritizing our national security interests and putting America first.”

  6. OK – these 3 are from Powerline. The 2nd one is a png file (another kind of picture file). The first one I just selected ‘copy image’ and posted – fine, np. The 2nd one, that didn’t work and I had to select “open image in new tab,” then copied that address and posted it thru the + option. The one below had to go thru the + option.

This one, I just selected “copy image address” and pasted it w/no problem and no + option required.

      1. Seriously???? OK, that must mean the problem is your computer or internet connection. If I right-click on the meme, then select “copy image,” then paste – that seems to work most of the time. I do that when I send my daily e-mail of memes to my Sis. Here, I click “open image in new tab,” then copy & post that address using the + option. They have the “png” at the end.

  9. Just The News: “Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for U.S. and European leaders to “revitalize an old friendship” in his speech at the annual Munich Security Conference. Rubio struck a tone that was less confrontational than remarks from other administration officials in recent months, but he still made clear that Washington intends to pursue change in the alliance and in major global institutions.

Speaking on Saturday to the gathered leaders, Rubio highlighted the deep historical connections between the U.S. and Europe and emphasized that their alliance remains vital despite disagreements on certain issues.

“We do not seek to separate, but to revitalize an old friendship and renew the greatest civilization in human history,” he said.

At the conference, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz set the stage by urging that the United States and Europe “repair and revive trans-Atlantic trust together.” European leaders reinforced that they would continue to uphold their own positions on free speech, climate policy and free trade.

Rubio reiterated key critiques of current Western policy trends, including what he described as “a climate cult” and “an unprecedented wave of mass migration that threatens the cohesion of our societies.” He argued that following the end of the Cold War, the West fell into a “dangerous delusion” that global integration and liberal democracy would spread unchallenged.

“And so this is why we Americans may sometimes come off as a little direct and urgent in our counsel.  This is why President Trump demands seriousness and reciprocity from our friends here in Europe.  The reason why, my friends, is because we care deeply.  We care deeply about your future and ours,” he said.”

  11. Hmmmm….the officials certainly don’t seem to believe this….

“Fingerprint evidence is a fundamental part of forensic science. However, there are many common misconceptions about fingerprint evidence that can mislead the public and affect legal outcomes. Without understanding these myths, we risk misinterpreting the value of this powerful tool in criminal investigations.

While it is often stated that fingerprints are unique to each individual, this claim requires nuance. Fingerprints can be categorized into general patterns—such as loops, whorls, and arches—that many people share. These broader classifications can lead to overlapping characteristics among different individuals. For instance, identical twins may have similar fingerprint patterns, complicating the assertion of absolute uniqueness.

In reality, the individuality of fingerprints lies in their specific features, or minutiae, which include details like ridge endings, bifurcations, and dots. These individual characteristics are what forensic analysts rely on to establish identity. Therefore, while the patterns provide a useful framework, it is the unique minutiae that enable fingerprint examiners to differentiate one person’s fingerprints from another, making fingerprint analysis a complex interplay between general classifications and highly specific details.”

🧵THREAD: Is Brooklyn, NY a Medicaid fraud hotspot? Brooklyn, NY has a home care billing industry that defies belief.

One zip code (11232, Sunset Park) has 30,181 residents and $3.8 BILLION in Medicaid claims.

That’s $143,000 per man, woman, and child.

What’s even stranger is that the average income is $90K, the poverty rate is below 20%, and it is one of the younger zip codes in the area.

Receipts below.👇 As always, patience as I pull together the thread.

  16. Whew! That worked up a sweat! I just took almost all of the plastic down from my patio windows – nice to be able to see outside again! I still have the 2 east windows to clear but those are outside. I worked up a good sweat already – they can wait! LOL

      1. Normally, yes, but not this year! And even if it does get cold and snow again, it’s not a big deal. Frankly, the sound of the plastic whipping in the wind – with the wind so strong, sometimes I could feel the patio shake – really got on my nerves. It makes this loud whomping noise – kinda scary and made me jump sometimes. I’d rather just let the wind flow thru, tbh.
