The Superb Fairywren

The superb fairywren (Malurus cyaneus ) is a passerine bird in the Australasian wren family, Maluridae, and is common and familiar across south-eastern Australia. It is a sedentary and territorial species. The superb fairywren was named ‘Australian Bird of the Year’ for 2021, after a survey conducted by Birdlife Australia saw the species narrowly defeat the tawny frogmouth with a margin of 666 votes (over 400,000 votes were cast in total).

Appearance

The males in breeding plumage have a striking bright blue forehead, ear coverts, mantle, and tail, with a black mask and black or dark blue throat. Females, immatures, and non-breeding males are a plain fawn color with a lighter underbelly and a fawn (females and immatures) or dull greyish blue (males) tail. The bill is brown in females and juveniles and black in males after their first winter.

Superb fairywrens are found throughout most of the south-eastern corner of the continent, from the south-east of South Australia (including Kangaroo Island and Adelaide) and the tip of the Eyre Peninsula, through all of Victoria, Tasmania, coastal and sub-coastal New South Wales, and Queensland, through the Brisbane area and extending inland – north to the Dawson River and west to Blackall. These birds inhabit almost any area that has at least a little dense undergrowth for shelter, including grasslands with scattered shrubs, moderately thick forest, woodland, heaths, and domestic gardens. They have adapted well to the urban environment and are common in suburban Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne.

Superb fairywrens live in small social groups consisting of 3 to 5 birds that maintain and defend their small territories year-round. These groups include a social pair with one or more male or female helper birds that were hatched in the territory and may not necessarily be the offspring of the main pair. These birds assist in defending the territory and feeding and rearing the young. Members of the group roost side-by-side in dense cover as well as engage in mutual preening. Superb fairywrens are active and restless feeders; they are active during the day and feed mainly on open ground near the shelter, but also through the lower foliage and accompany their foraging with song. They move with a series of jaunty hops and bounces. During the heat of the day group members often shelter and rest together, however, when the winter comes and food is harder to find they spend the day foraging continuously. Superb fairywrens communicate with other members of the group primarily for advertising and mobbing or defending a territory. Their alarm call is a series of brief sharp chits, universally given and understood by small birds in response to predators. Females also emit a ‘purr’ while incubating.

Superb fairywrens are socially monogamous but they exhibit a polygynandrous (promiscuous) mating system; pairs bond for life, though both males and females regularly mate with other individuals. Young are often raised not by the pair alone, but with other males who also mated with the pair’s female assisting. Breeding occurs from spring through to late summer. Males perform courtship displays which include the ‘sea horse flight’, named for its seahorse-like undulations. During this exaggerated flight, the male – with his neck extended and his head feathers erect – tilts his body from horizontal to vertical, descends slowly, and springs upwards by rapidly beating his wings after alighting on the ground. The ‘face fan’ display involves the flaring of the blue ear tufts by erecting the feathers. Superb fairywrens build their nest close to the ground, under 1 m (3.3 ft), and in thick vegetation. These are round or domed structures made of loosely woven grasses and spider webs, with an entrance on one side. Females lay 3 or 4 matte white eggs with reddish-brown splotches and spots; they may lay two or more broods in such extended breeding season. The eggs are usually incubated for 14 days. Newborn chicks are blind, red, and featherless, though quickly darken as feathers grow. Their eyes open by day 5 or 6 and they are fully feathered by day 10. All group members feed the chicks for 10-14 days. Fledglings are able to feed themselves by day 40 but remain in the family group as helpers for a year or more; after that, they move to another group or assume a dominant position in the original group. In this role, they feed and care for subsequent broods and also repel cuckoos or predators.

    1. JUST IN: President Trump says the Pentagon contractor who leaked classified information on Venezuela is now in jail.

“The leaker has been found and is in jail right now. The leaker on Venezuela. We had a very bad leaker. There could be others. We are hot on their trail,” Trump said.

Earlier, Attorney General Pam Bondi said the DOJ executed a search warrant at the home of a Washington Post reporter tied to reporting classified information — part of a probe into the leak.

Bondi identified the leaker as a Pentagon contractor and said they are now “behind bars.”

FBI Director Kash Patel added the contractor “illegally retained and leaked classified, sensitive military op information to a reporter,” and confirmed the arrest.

UPDATE: It’s worse than we thought. In October, we flagged $1.3 billion in Medicaid funds that 6 states may have unlawfully spent on health care for illegal immigrants.

Since then, we’ve gathered more data and the total has grown to over $1.8 billion across 8 states.  It’s against the law to spend federal Medicaid funds on non-emergency healthcare for illegals. If states use their own money to do it, there needs to be a clear paper trail proving that federal dollars didn’t fund those services. These states failed to provide that for this $1.8 billion.

So today, CMS is announcing that we’re withholding nearly $300 million from California — which is by far the worst offender — until they demonstrate to our satisfaction that they’re spending that money properly. Medicaid dollars belong to Americans, not illegal immigrants, and we won’t stop until we’ve held rogue states accountable and recovered their misspent funds.

    More announcements to come.

  4. Just The News: “House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer declared Wednesday night that House Republicans have enough votes to hold former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress after they failed to comply with subpoenas demanding their testimonies.

The subpoenas are for the Clintons’ testimonies in an investigation regarding the late convicted sex-offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was an acquaintance of the former president and other powerful men. The pair have not been accused of any wrongdoing.

The House Oversight Committee is expected to formally vote on the charges next week, and Comer told Just the News there are enough votes to approve the contempt charges in both the committee and on the House floor.

“We’ve always had the votes in committee, but I’m confident to report now that we’ve got the votes on the floor,” Comer said on “Just The News, No Noise” TV show. “I think the American people have spoken loud and clear.

“They want to know the truth about Epstein and Bill Clinton spent as much time with Jeffrey Epstein as any other high-profile person who’s been named in this whole investigation,” he added. “So the American people expect Bill Clinton to show up for a subpoena, and I think the Republicans are going to vote, and we might even get a few Democrat votes to hold the Clintons in contempt.”

The Clintons were originally subpoenaed last year, and scheduled to appear in October, but that was later pushed to December because of their attendance at a funeral. Comer said at the time that the Clintons’ lawyers did not provide alternative dates, so he rescheduled their depositions for mid-January.

The Clintons said in a letter posted on X on Tuesday that they do not plan to appear for their scheduled depositions this week. Bill Clinton was expected to testify Tuesday and Hillary Clinton was scheduled to testify Wednesday.

“Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences,” the Clintons wrote. “For us, now is that time.”

The vote reverses actions taken by the chamber earlier this month, after five Republicans joined Democrats in backing the plan. Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Todd Young of Indiana initially voted with Democrats.

Hawley and Young both flipped in Wednesday’s vote after facing pushback from President Donald Trump, bringing the vote to an even 50-50 split. Vance broke the deadlock by casting the tie-breaking vote in favor of the resolution’s dismissal.”

“Walz Compares ICE to Gestapo and Indirectly Calls for Rebellion”

    Clandestine, Jan 14, 2026

    ⚠️IMPORTANT⚠️

“I don’t say this lightly, but everyone needs to watch this. I think we just witnessed Tim Walz incite an insurrection. He is trying to paint ICE as the equivalent to the Gestapo, claiming they are hunting down all “people of color” and “asking for papers.”

This is EXTREMELY dangerous stuff. Not only is he lying about what’s happening, but not once did he tell his constituents to stay out of the way of federal law enforcement officers. He is actively encouraging them to obstruct ICE agents, as a means to cover up the massive fraud and criminality in his state.

This is 1860’s type stuff we are dealing with here, and you can see it on Walz’s face, especially at the end. He knows the severity of what he just did.

The Dems are in open rebellion against the Trump administration, while harboring illegal aliens in their Unconstitutional “sanctuary cities,” which they use to steal elections. This is irregular warfare.

Thank you for you [sic] attention to this matter! President DJT,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

The Insurrection Act is used to deploy the U.S. military or federalize the National Guard for domestic law enforcement.

Trump’s comment comes after a federal officer shot a man in the leg in Minneapolis on Wednesday. The officer was being attacked by three people, including one with a shovel and broom handle. The incident followed the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis last week after she hit an ICE officer.

In Minneapolis on Wednesday night, federal officers fired tear gas into a crowd while protesters threw rocks and shot fireworks, The Associated Press reported. Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at a news conference that the gathering was an unlawful assembly and “people need to leave.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey described the situation with federal officers in the city as not “sustainable.” “This is an impossible situation that our city is presently being put in and at the same time we are trying to find a way forward to keep people safe, to protect our neighbors, to maintain order,” he said.”

Texas claimed the top spot as the most popular destination for movers in 2025. The majority of people moving to Texas do so for new job opportunities, the moving company HireAHelper found in a study. Migration to Texas is led by middle- and upper-middle class Gen X and millennial workers, which “fits the narrative of professionals and families moving for career opportunities, lower taxes, and a more affordable lifestyle compared to some coastal states,” HireAHelper reported. Texas dethroned North Carolina as the state with the most migration in 2025.

Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina follow as the top states U-Haul customers moved to. The list is the same top five as 2023 and 2024, but in a different order.

California ranked last once again with the greatest exodus of movers for the sixth year in a row. Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois were also in the bottom five. JD Rucker, Jan 15, 2026

“With turmoil increasing in Minneapolis, President Donald Trump posted a warning on Truth Social for politicians in Minnesota:

If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State. Thank you for you attention to this matter! President DJT

The sentiment is appreciated. ICE officers and other federal agents are being physically attacked every day, though legacy media never reports it. Last night offered another escalation when a Venezuelan illegal alien and his accomplices beat an officer. His life was likely saved only because he shot the original suspect in the leg. Otherwise, he could have been beaten to death with one or more shovels the criminals were wielding.

There is no reason to wait. President Trump needs to invoke the Insurrection Act immediately. Minnesota Democrats aren’t going to do anything to stop the current revolt in Minneapolis. In fact, they are doing everything they can get away with publicly to incite more violence and they are working fervently behind the scenes to make it far worse.

No more warnings. Americans are in danger, especially the heroes in ICE and other law enforcement officers who are being targeted.

The insurrectionists stole a rifle last night. They collected secret documents about officers, suspects, and warrants. They did this by outnumbering law enforcement. It’s a blessing and a miracle that none of them have been murdered by these anti-American paid “protesters” by now. But if definitive action is not taken to quell this intentional chaos, it is only going to get worse.

I’m not a fan of massive law enforcement presence in general. My concerns about a police state and the various slippery slopes that can lead to one are not easily dismissed. But in this circumstance, I can and will dismiss those concerns. The country is barreling towards a cliff and if isn’t stopped, things are not going to be pretty. Patriotic Americans will be forced to take measures into their own hands, and that would not end pleasantly.

There are political challenges to the Insurrection Act. It’s a midterm election year and Republicans need help if they’re going to keep majorities on Capitol Hill. But if law and order are not restored, the negative impacts on the election and the nation will be far worse than any repercussions from invoking the Insurrection Act and suppressing the Marxists who are trying to destroy us.

Pray diligently. Keep your head on a swivel when out and about. And call on President Trump to take the extreme but necessary step of stopping this before it gets much worse. Please invoke the Insurrection Act now, Mr. President.”

    Okay @DataRepublican
, and I did some general numbers on the SomaliFraud cash going through Minneapolis airport.

According to reports, over 2 years, they moved roughly $700MM through the airport.

That means (if they used $100 bills) they moved 7.7 metric tons of cash, and keep in mind, this is just what was flagged over the past 2 years.

    Couple notes on that number:

That would essentially mean that the Somalis were taking a $1 million dollar duffle bag through the airport — EVERY SINGLE DAY — for two years.

Further, we can assume that this is only the money that was flagged.

If the Somalis were just wandering through without declaring every cash bag, we could be talking 10x the amount.

    The question then became:

    WHY Minneapolis?

Well, after some quick discussing with regular travelers of the MN airports.

    The Somalis run the airport.
    They’re the ground crews.
    They’re the airport staff.
    They’re friggin TSA.

We have an airport in the United States of America run by pirates.

    That’s kind of a problem.

More on where we think the money is going later… 🇺🇸

  21. theft from charities…

    article

The former CEO of a Paul Newman-founded non-profit camp for children with serious medical conditions is accused of embezzling millions from the organization.

Christopher L. Butler, 49, of Porter Ranch, California, has been charged with more than a dozen felonies after allegedly stealing $5.2 million over seven years from The Painted Turtle, one of the many charities for kids with chronic or life-threatening illnesses co-founded by the late actor.

According to the complaint, Butler worked for the Lake Hughes, California-based organization from 2018 until 2025, lifting hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, and allegedly tried to hide evidence by changing or erasing digital records.

The embezzlement was discovered when a new controller at the non-profit found “irregularities” in the financial records last August.

The Painted Turtle, which is part of the Newman’s Own Foundation’s SeriousFun Children’s Network, relies of donations to provide free programs for its campers.

“Abusing a position of power to steal funds from a camp dedicated to helping children with serious medical conditions is an affront to both the law and our deepest values,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a news release. “My message is crystal clear: If you steal from the most vulnerable members of our community or the organizations that serve them, this office will use every tool the law allows to hold you fully accountable.”

Butler was charged with nine counts of grand theft, five counts of forgery and one count of fraudulent use of a computer. He is being held on $835,000 bail and will be arraigned on Thursday. If convicted, he faces up to 18 years in prison.

Anybody who’s taken even a casual glance at this case can see from the sentence imposed this was a malicious and highly politicized prosecution.

  24. 🌕 The Moon Is Crooked Because It Was Punched

China’s Chang’e-6 mission just returned the first material ever collected from the far side of the Moon — and it may have solved a mystery that’s been bothering astronomers for decades. Why is the Moon so… lopsided?

One side is thicker. One side is geologically weird. One side is scarred and different. According to new analysis, the answer is simple and brutal: The Moon was hit by something enormous. The Moon isn’t uneven. It’s scarred

🪨 Texas Cave Art Is 6,000 Years Old

Some of North America’s most iconic cave paintings are now dated to nearly 6,000 years ago, proving that complex ritual art thrived long before civilization, writing, or cities. Humans were making sacred art long before they made spreadsheets

In Scarborough, England, officials cancelled New Year’s Eve fireworks because an Arctic walrus named Thor showed up to rest in the harbor. They let him sleep. The city waited. The walrus moved on.

    General Flynn’s Substack – Official

“TREASON! In 2017, they took out the National Security Advisor (yours truly) so they could move on to the fundamental objective: undermining the duly elected President of the United States.

What happened next wasn’t organic. A rushed Intelligence Community Assessment, driven by John Brennan, was ordered under Obama, sidelining normal processes, hand-picking analysts, excluding most agencies, and was later proven FALSE by Mueller. This was corruption at the highest levels, and now the evidence is undeniable. Hold them ACCOUNTABLE!”

    FTA

Dept of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem gave a brief set of remarks to the assembled press pool at the White House earlier this morning. Secretary Noem noted the federal vehicles trashed and looted in Minneapolis last night were not ICE or DHS vehicles but were FBI vehicles. Weapons were stolen from FBI vehicles.

Additionally, Secretary Noem noted that she spoke with President Trump this morning about the possible use of the federal insurrection act in Minneapolis, Minnesota against the rioting hoards and professional agitators’ creating mayhem and targeting law enforcement with violent acts. No decision has been made.
