Today’s Halloween entry is Spider Cookies!

Ingredients

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup sugar

1 large egg, room temperature

24 Reese’s mini peanut butter cups

1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

1 teaspoon shortening

48 candy eyes

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Cream peanut butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg.

Roll into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass. Bake until tops are slightly cracked, 15-17 minutes. Cool for 3 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Immediately press 1 mini peanut butter cup into center of each cookie. Let stand until set.

In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Transfer melted chocolate mixture to a pastry bag fitted with a small round tip. Use mixture to adhere candy eyes to peanut butter cups with melted chocolate mixture. Pipe 8 lines alongside each peanut butter cup to resemble spider legs. Let stand until set.

    hubby would love these if i made them. he loves peanut butter and chocolate!

    it’s dark outside, so I can’t tell what the day will bring. We were supposed to get rain yesterday and all we got was a little drizzle to wet the deck. that’s it. sigh

    1. Good morning! Only 41 this morning w/clear skies, no Wheezer again. My buddy, Jerry, stopped by yesterday – he didn’t have my new phone # (altho it was on his call log from when I called him). He can’t find anything wrong with the mower and speculated that it may be the gas – I did use the gas w/ethanol and it could be I simply have to use regular gas. Crossing my fingers that’s it.

    The Democrats are so cruel in their continual votes to shut down the government that they forced the WIC program for the most vulnerable women and children to run out this week.

    Thankfully, President Trump and the White House have identified a creative solution to transfer resources from Section 232 tariff revenue to this critical program.

    The Trump White House will not allow impoverished mothers and their babies to go hungry because of the Democrats’ political games.

  10. Just The News: “Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner on Tuesday are expected to fly to Egypt, where they will oversee negotiations between Israel and Hamas and will not leave until a hostage release agreement is reached.

    Trump met with the two men at the White House earlier Tuesday, where they reportedly briefed Trump and administration officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, on indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas and the latest information they’ve received from Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators, sources told Axios.

    The meeting took place on the second anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, which launched the ongoing war in Gaza.

    The Trump administration duo is expected to land in Egypt early Wednesday morning and sources said they will not leave the Middle Eastern country until Hamas agrees to release the hostages and end its war with Israel.

    “[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] has done an excellent job. The military pressure was critical to make Hamas more pragmatic. But now Bibi must understand that the time for a deal has come,” a senior U.S. official told the outlet. 

    The trip comes after Hamas agreed last week to release its Israeli hostages, including the bodies of deceased hostages, but the terrorist group has not yet released the remaining 48 hostages, of which only 20 are believed to still be alive.”

  11. Just The News: “Late-night TV show host Jimmy Kimmel has lost 71% of his audience since his show returned to air last month. On Thursday, after “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” returned to air on Sept. 23 following a brief suspension, the show averaged 1.9 million viewers, losing 71% of the audience that tuned in for the host’s return, Fox News reported.

    ABC announced last month that Kimmel’s show would return to air after Disney suspended it. The situation arose after the host delivered a monologue in which he claimed Trump’s “MAGA gang” was trying to politically benefit from conservative political activist Charlie Kirk’s killing.

    Kimmel said during his monologue, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

    Kirk, 31, was assassinated while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University by alleged shooter Tyler Robinson, 22, whose mother told police that he “had started to lean more to the left,” according to a charging document.

    Kimmel’s show also lost 85% of the 1.7 million adults aged 25-54 who watched his return show. On Thursday, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” had 265,000 viewers from that age group.

    Before the suspension, Kimmel averaged 1.6 million viewers in 2025.

    On his return show, Kimmel said during his opening monologue, “I have no illusions about changing anyone’s mind, but I do want to make something clear, because it’s important to me as a human, and that is, you understand that it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man.”

    “Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the actions of what was obviously a deeply disturbed individual,” he continued. “That was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make. But I understand that to some that felt either ill-timed or unclear or maybe both, and for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset. If the situation was reversed, there’s a good chance I’d have felt the same way.”

  13. Just The News: “During a three-month “Summer Heat,” operation, FBI and law enforcement partners made 8,629 arrests as part of a national initiative targeting violent crime. Ten FBI field offices prioritized finding dangerous fugitives, leading to more than 750 arrests – including more than 30 wanted for murder.

    Key arrests in California, Florida, Massachusetts and Texas netted dangerous fugitives on the FBI Most Wanted List, including violent gang members and Mexican drug traffickers.

    In California, San Diego Field Office agents arrested 76 people, including a violent fugitive from Mexico wanted for supplying thousands of kilograms of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine to distributors throughout San Diego and Los Angeles.

    FBI San Diego agents also seized five weapons, hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine worth more than $1.9 million and located seven missing children in sexual exploitation situations. They also helped secure prison sentences “for an FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive behind a multimillion-dollar criminal empire that lured young women into pornography through lies, coercion, and manipulation,” and for those arrested and sentenced for sexual exploitation or abuse of a minor.

    In Florida, FBI Jacksonville agents arrested 120 people, including dozens of violent gang members and two wanted for distributing child sex abuse material. They recovered more than 50 weapons and multiple drug seizures. In one operation in Daytona, they arrested 28 Mongols motorcycle gang members as part of a joint operation with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office and Seventh Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.

    In North Texas, FBI Dallas agents arrested several fugitives, including Ten Most Wanted fugitives Cindy Rodriguez Singh and Cesar Pascual Orozco, who were extradited from India and Mexico, respectively. They were wanted for child sex crimes, murder, and violent robberies, including robbing an armored vehicle. FBI Dallas agents made arrests for “possession, distribution, and production of child sexual abuse material; violent robberies; drug-related charges; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.” They also seized seven kilograms of fentanyl and 29 firearms.

    Boston Field Office agents arrested the third-greatest number of people in the country, 404, in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. They also made 129 drug seizures, 38 weapons seizures and found 27 missing children.

    One key arrest was made in western Massachusetts with multiple law enforcement agencies targeting neighborhood-based gangs operating in Holyoke and open-air drug dealing where shootings occurred. They arrested 52 and made multiple drug and firearms seizures.

    In southern Maine, FBI agents arrested 35, seized multiple firearms and narcotics. In New Hampshire, FBI efforts led to the indictments of 12 people on charges of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and other drugs; five others were arrested in a robbery conspiracy in Londonderry.

    In Rhode Island, 17 gang members, fugitives and drug traffickers were arrested. In one case, seven people were arrested on drug trafficking and firearms-related charges, seizing large amounts of fentanyl pills, powder, cocaine, and seven firearms, including an AR-15, two semi-automatic handguns, three handguns, and a Glock switch, the FBI said.

    In New York, FBI Buffalo agents arrested 207 dangerous fugitives and seized more than 10 kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, eight firearms, and $243,000 in cash. In South Carolina, Columbia Field Office agents made 51 arrests and seized 15 firearms, 28 kilos of cocaine, and $620,000 in cash.

    In Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Memphis and Miami, FBI agents and law enforcement partners arrested 417 people and seized 159 firearms. In Philadelphia, FBI agents arrested three suspected of committing a June armed robbery of an armored truck; Kansas City Field Office FBI agents arrested three wanted for a violent car theft ring implicated in homicides, non-fatal shootings, and armed robberies.

    Operation Summer Heat involved all 55 FBI field offices working with state and local partners targeting violent criminals, fugitives, gangs and transnational criminal organization members. The bulk of the arrests, more than 6,500, were gang members, the FBI said.

    More than 1,000 child victims were found and violent crime cases in Indian Country were resolved. The operation also led to the seizure of nearly 45,000 kilograms of cocaine, 421 kilograms of fentanyl, and 2,281 weapons, the FBI said.”

    EXCERPT: “In my freshman year at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), I felt a sense of purpose: I was attending one of Wisconsin’s few Christian colleges, avoiding the state colleges that I had heard horror stories about. Heading down the hall to my first call of the day, Christian Citizenship, I was shocked to sees posters featuring women such as Kamala Harris and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This was in 2021, before Harris’s failed presidential campaign, but certainly during a time when she was one of the celebrated faces of the Democratic Party.

    I stopped in my tracks, confused and slightly concerned, but figured it was just a fluke. Certainly, this self-professed Christian college wouldn’t promote a prominent political figure who supported abortion and LGBT rights, right?

    Over the next two years, I periodically discovered more red flags at my school. Certain professors stated that they wouldn’t feel comfortable teaching To Kill A Mockingbird because of its discussions about race. Other professors wasted class time expounding the value of  “mindfulness” above academic excellence. The college refused to answer any questions about the Black Student Union’s promotion of apartheid.

    Things finally came to a head when Rev. Dr. Gregory Schultz was suspended from his teaching role for criticizing the university’s “woke” culture. Schultz’s essay, Woke Dysphoria at Concordia, called out the school for promoting DEI and “equity” programs. It was resolved through a settlement, but Schultz ultimately retired from teaching.

    It comes as no surprise that in 2025, in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, CUW’s first response was to prevent a TPUSA chapter from being recognized on campus. The University initially denied the chapter president’s request due to his unwillingness to publicly condemn the “Professor Watchlist.”

    The Professor Watchlist is a Turning Point-sponsored tool often used by students to determine which professors have a history of promoting liberal ideologies. The Watchlist doesn’t slander professors but merely gives students an accurate understanding of how radical their instructors may be. The school gave the chapter president an ultimatum: Either publicly reject the Watchlist or we will not give you a platform.

    CUW eventually went on to recognize the TPUSA chapter only after widespread social media criticism from influential figures such as Elon Musk and Rob Schneider. The university made no attempt to defend itself or explain why it suddenly changed its mind. It took nothing less than national outrage to cave to a perfectly reasonable demand.

    CUW is not the only Christian school that bends the knee to liberal ideologies. From pre-school to post-Bachelor’s programs, it has become difficult for Christian schools to maintain their integrity. The attempt to please a large student body has caused doctrinal shifts on growing campuses. Places like Grove City College struggled to uphold their principles after the radical movements of 2020. Even schools like Harvard and Belmont, who were once closely tied to their Christian heritage, have abandoned these principles. It’s only after the schools’ radicalism is exposed and goes viral that they are willing to make any changes…..”

    Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are keeping up the pace even as leftist city mayors, blue state governors, and woke law enforcement officials do all they can to undermine their mission and put their lives at risk. The latest in-custody list of dangerous criminal aliens includes pedophiles, domestic abusers, and drug traffickers, according to the Department of Homeland Security’s latest tally, exclusively provided to The Federalist. 

    “Our officers continue to risk their lives every day to arrest criminal illegal aliens despite not getting paid and the more than 1000% increase in assaults against them,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement to The Federalist. 

    “Just yesterday, DHS arrested criminal illegal aliens convicted of child sex crimes, assault, domestic abuse, manslaughter, drug trafficking, and burglary,” she added, reiterating that “under President Trump and Secretary Noem, criminals are not welcome in the United States.” ‘Worst of the Worst’

    Jose Alberto Hernandez-Alvarado. The criminal illegal alien from Mexico was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Texas, according to Homeland Security. 

    Kemar Hamilton, a Jamaican foreign national, was convicted of manslaughter and assault in the Bronx, DHS reported. 

    Walid Soualmia. The criminal illegal alien from Algeria was convicted of domestic abuse assault first offense with a dangerous weapon and intimidation with a dangerous weapon in Cherokee County, Iowa. The Cherokee Chronicle reported in 2023 that a man identified as Walid Soualmia, 35 at the time, was arrested and booked into the Cherokee County Jail on charges of third-degree kidnapping, going armed with intent, domestic assault with a weapon, and possession of a dangerous weapon while intoxicated. Soualmia allegedly brandished a .380 ACP pistol toward his wife, according to the publication. Cherokee police arrested Soualmia again in May on charges of violating a no-contact order, the Chronicle reported. 

    Hugo Martinez-Jaimes. The criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico was convicted of trying to traffic cocaine by possession in Columbus County, North Carolina.  

    “Community safety is our mission! ICE in Atlanta arrested Hugo Martinez-Jaimes, a 47-year-old Mexican illegal alien convicted of attempting to traffic cocaine in NC. Together, we’re working to keep our neighborhoods safe,” ICE posted on X last week. 

    William Sierra-Galeano, a Colombian foreign national in the U.S. illegally, was convicted of attempted burglary in White Plains, New York.‘Will Not Be Deterred’

    The work of rounding up criminal aliens continues even with maximum resistance from anti-ICE politicians.

    In Chicago over the weekend, police officers were reportedly ordered to stand down and not assist Border Patrol agents pinned down by ICE-hating rioters. According to Fox News, on Saturday morning, anti-ICE agitators used a vehicle to ram into immigration enforcement agents and surrounded and entrapped them with 10 vehicles. An armed woman was shot at the chaotic scene. 

    “Our brave ICE law enforcement will NOT BE DETERRED by the Democrats’ government shutdown or by violence against them from removing the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from our communities,” McLaughlin said in the statement. “We will not let political games or violence against law enforcement slow us down from making American safe again,” the assistant secretary said in a press release issued Monday after ICE agents spent the weekend bringing into custody “vicious child sexual predators, gang members, drug traffickers, robbers, rapists, and reckless drunk drivers.”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “One thing right-wingers have got to stop doing is brushing off the deliberate intentions of Democrats as “insane,” “crazy,” or “unhinged.” They’re not, and to do so is to give them an excuse for their sick behavior, the way a proven murderer hopes to get off with a “temporary insanity” defense.

    The temptation is admittedly strong. Democrats do a lot of crazy things, like support and champion every single policy that makes life for the average American poorer, more dangerous, and less meaningful. They’re in favor of open borders and rampant crime. They’re opposed to free speech and fair elections. Anyone would be forgiven for calling them insane.

    They’re not. These are their very conscious and very sober positions. There is nothing they say or profess to believe that is misguided or poorly thought out. They mean what they say, and there isn’t a flicker of doubt. That it seems “crazy” or “insane” speaks to a lack of understanding of what exactly the modern Democrat Party is.

    It’s not a different side of the same coin or a political party with well-meaning differences of opinion. It’s a revolutionary movement that rejects the American way, which is to say the fundamental view that all men and women are created equal and that the rule of law applies to everyone.

    That’s not hyperbole or inflammatory language just for the sake of it. It’s a matter of public record. Democrat leaders do everything they can get away with for the purpose of relaxing anti-crime measures, squeezing every last cent out of middle-income earners, and wiping out their opposition, even if that means resorting to violence.

    That some people are still calling Democrats “crazy” means they’re not thinking hard enough about what’s happening. An insane person can be put away or taken into custody. That’s not an option when we’re talking about roughly half the country’s population (though there are positive signs that the portion is getting smaller). They’re not crazy, even if it’s difficult to take them seriously. But everyone had better start.

    Almost everything in our political conversation — to the extent you can even call it a conversation — has become a matter of life and death. When Democrats aren’t advocating for policies that might get you killed, some of them are simply trying to do it themselves. And remember: It’s not because they’re crazy. It’s because you disagree with them.

    To question their mental capacity is to suggest there’s a random misfortune or irrational element at play. That’s not the case. They may lie about their intentions and speak in ways that fail to comport with reality, but that’s not the work of a political party that lost its grip. It’s the modus operandi of an organization willing to say and do anything to achieve its ambitions.

    Recall the very distant past of 2024, when you knew that your savings account was shrinking and your social media feeds were clogged with shocking crime videos. Democrats, with a helpful assist from the dying news media, swore inflation was a myth and violence had never been more rare. That sounds crazy, but they were 100 percent cognizant of what they were doing. They were lying their way through an election, and if they were successful, they would have continued to make the country poorer and more dangerous.

    To be sure, there are some genuinely dumb and perhaps insane people who lead the Democrat Party. Sen. Mazie Hirono and Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett come to mind. But they’re the exception. Purposeful, diabolical, and anti-American is the rule.”

    Los Angeles police and federal officials said earlier Wednesday that they are about to announce a “significant development” related to the criminal investigation into the cause of the fire.

    The blaze erupted on Jan. 7 and killed 12 people, destroying more than 6,000 homes and buildings in the Pacific Palisades.

    EXCERPT: “Six former U.S. surgeons general accused U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. of “endangering the health of the nation” in an op-ed published Tuesday in The Washington Post. The former surgeons general — Jerome Adams, Richard Carmona, Joycelyn Elders, Vivek Murthy, Antonia Novello and David Satcher — have served in every administration since that of former President George H. W. Bush.

    Murthy is a defendant in a lawsuit filed in 2023 by Children’s Health Defense (CHD) against the Biden administration. The suit, renamed CHD v. Trump after President Joe Biden left office, is pending in federal court.

    “Never before have we issued a joint public warning like this,” the surgeons general wrote. “But the profound, immediate and unprecedented threat that Kennedy’s policies and positions pose to the nation’s health cannot be ignored.”

    They accused Kennedy of pursuing policies that have undermined science and scientific research and deemphasized “lifesaving” vaccines. They also suggested that Kennedy’s policies resulted in the measles outbreak in some U.S. states and the August shooting at the Atlanta headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that left the gunman dead.

    Steve Benen, a producer for MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” said this is “the first time that six former surgeons general … have issued a joint public declaration.” He said they stopped short of calling on Kennedy to resign, “but given the circumstances, they didn’t have to.”

    In a statement provided to The Defender, Andrew Nixon, communications director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), accused the former surgeons general of contributing to public health challenges that Kennedy is now attempting to address.

    “The same officials who presided over the decline in America’s public health are now criticizing the first Secretary to confront it head-on. We remain committed to restoring trust, reforming broken health systems, and ensuring that every American has access to real choice in their health care,” Nixon said…..”

    1. Just The News: “President Donald Trump announced in a social media post on Wednesday that Hamas and Israel have signed off on the first phase of a peace deal in Gaza.

      “This means that all of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

      The development comes after Trump proposed a 20-point peace plan late last month, which Israel has already agreed to. The plan requires the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the strip and the release of all remaining hostages. Israel would commit to releasing 250 life prisoners and as many as 1,700 Gazans taken into Israeli custody since Oct. 7, 2023.

      Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to confirm that he agreed to the first phase of the peace plan in an X post on Wednesday night, where he stated that “with God’s help we will bring them all home.”
