JD Vance @JDVance A while ago, probably in 2017, I appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox show to talk about God knows what. Afterwards a name I barely knew sent me a DM on twitter and told me I did a great job. It was Charlie Kirk, and that moment of kindness began a friendship that lasted until today.
Charlie was fascinated by ideas and always willing to learn and change his mind. Like me, he was skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016. Like me, he came to see President Trump as the only figure capable of moving American politics away from the globalism that had dominated for our entire lives. When others were right, he learned from them. When he was right–as he usually was–he was generous. With Charlie, the attitude was never, “I told you so.” But: “welcome.”
Charlie was one of the first people I called when I thought about running for senate in early 2021. I was interested but skeptical there was a pathway. We talked through everything, from the strategy to the fundraising to the grassroots of the movement he knew so well. He introduced me to some of the people who would run my campaign and also to Donald Trump Jr. “Like his dad, he’s misunderstood. He’s extremely smart, and very much on our wavelength.” Don took a call from me because Charlie asked him too.
Long before I ever committed (even in my mind) to running, Charlie had me speak to his donors at a TPUSA event. He walked me around the room and introduced me. He gave me honest feedback on my remarks. He had no reason to do this, no expectation that I’d go anywhere. I was polling, at that point, well below 5 percent. He did it because we were friends, and because he was a good man.
When I became the VP nominee–something Charlie advocated for both in public and private–Charlie was there for me. I was so glad to be part of the president’s team, but candidly surprised by the effect it had on our family. Our kids, especially our oldest, struggled with the attention and the constant presence of the protective detail. I felt this acute sense of guilt, that I had conscripted my kids into this life without getting their permission. And Charlie was constantly calling and texting, checking on our family and offering guidance and prayers. Some of our most successful events were organized not by the campaign, but by TPUSA. He wasn’t just a thinker, he was a doer, turning big ideas into bigger events with thousands of activists. And after every event, he would give me a big hug, tell me he was praying for me, and ask me what he could do. “You focus on Wisconsin,” he’d tell me. “Arizona is in the bag.” And it was.
Charlie genuinely believed in and loved Jesus Christ. He had a profound faith. We used to argue about Catholicism and Protestantism and who was right about minor doctrinal questions. Because he loved God, he wanted to understand him.
Someone else pointed out that Charlie died doing what he loved: discussing ideas. He would go into these hostile crowds and answer their questions. If it was a friendly crowd, and a progressive asked a question to jeers from the audience, he’d encourage his fans to calm down and let everyone speak. He exemplified a foundational virtue of our Republic: the willingness to speak openly and debate ideas.
Charlie had an uncanny ability to know when to push the envelope and when to be more conventional. I’ve seen people attack him for years for being wrong on this or that issue publicly, never realizing that privately he was working to broaden the scope of acceptable debate.
He was a great family man. I was talking to President Trump in the Oval Office today, and he said, “I know he was a very good friend of yours.” I nodded silently, and President Trump observed that Charlie really loved his family. The president was right. Charlie was so proud of Erika and the two kids. He was so happy to be a father. And he felt such gratitude for having found a woman of God with whom he could build a family.
Charlie Kirk was a true friend. The kind of guy you could say something to and know it would always stay with him. I am on more than a few group chats with Charlie and people he introduced me to over the years. We celebrate weddings and babies, bust each other’s chops, and mourn the loss of loved ones. We talk about politics and policy and sports and life. These group chats include people at the very highest level of our government. They trusted him, loved him, and knew he’d always have their backs. And because he was a true friend ,you could instinctively trust the people Charlie introduced you to. So much of the success we’ve had in this administration traces directly to Charlie’s ability to organize and convene. He didn’t just help us win in 2024, he helped us staff the entire government.
I was in a meeting in the West Wing when those group chats started lighting up with people telling Charlie they were praying for him. And that’s how I learned the news that my friend had been shot. I prayed a lot over the next hour, as first good news and then bad trickled in.
God didn’t answer those prayers, and that’s OK. He had other plans. And now that Charlie is in heaven, I’ll ask him to talk to big man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly.
Charlie Kirk was only 31 yet he accomplished so much. He built a movement and a platform, engaging the young when establishment Republicans couldn’t (or wouldn’t). How do you reach the young? By reaching out to the young. He became a must-see college speaker, engaging college students, persuading the undecided, standing for his faith, and sparring with detractors. He stood strong on his beliefs, was unapologetic and irreplaceable.
And despite all he had done, I’m sure his proudest accomplishment was his family: a wife and two young children who are left with a permanent and unfillable void. Heartbreaking.
The assassin is still out there. Earlier this evening, FBI Director Kash Patel announced they had captured the killer. He since stated the suspect was “released after an interrogation by law enforcement.”
The killer’s motive hasn’t been confirmed, though that’s easy to guess. It appears Kirk was the victim of a heinous act of violence for what he believed and for his effectiveness in mobilizing the right.
Hate is infectious. Rhetoric becomes truth. Spread the hate long enough – the right is an existential threat, Trump is Hitler, the GOP is turning into Hezbollah, etc. – and eventually it might be acted upon. That explains not just the crimes of violence but the lack of pity for Kirk and his family from many on the left. The celebratory social media posts and TikTok videos are out there and easy to find. The killer already has his own fan club.
The times are dark. We’re not just seeing differences in political values but differing opinions on whether political violence is justified. As we saw with the Trump assassination attempts and the transgender school shooters, the danger is not retaliation by the right but copycats.”

“Hungarian PM Orbán slams far-left’s ‘international hate campaign’ following Charlie Kirk assassination — The assassination of Kirk is the latest in a sad line of attacks on conservative leaders”
ReMix News Staff, September 11, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has posted to X regarding the tragic assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. Kirk, who championed free and open debate at university campuses across the U.S, was also a close friend and advisor of U.S. President Donald Trump.
“Yesterday, we lost a true defender of faith and freedom. Our deepest condolences go to the Kirk family and to the American people,” Orbán wrote. “Charlie Kirk’s death is the result of the international hate campaign waged by the progressive-liberal left. This is what led to the attacks on Robert Fico, on Andrej Babiš, and now on Charlie Kirk,” he continued. “We must stop the hatred! We must stop the hate-mongering left!” the Hungarian PM concluded his post.
Orbán has made a name for himself as a defender of family values and Christian heritage, two things Kirk was a staunch supporter of as well.
Just a week ago, Remix News reported on the attack on Andřej Babiš, the former prime minister of the Czech Republic, whose right-wing party is leading in the polls ahead of that country’s next election.
Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico also survived multiple gunshots last year by a crazed gunman who disagreed with him politically, while Orbán faced a foiled attempt on his life. Meanwhile, U.S. President Trump has faced no less than four assassination attempts.
The common thread among all of these figures was their dedication to social conservative values, the return to sovereignty, and a focus on family.
It is telling that back when Trump was nearly killed at his campaign rally in the summer of 2024 in Pennsylvania, longtime Orbán critic and fierce liberal, Ambassador to Budapest David Pressman, had nothing to say. Even when contacted by Magyar Nemzet, the embassy press office’s response was only: “We refer you to President Joe Biden’s address to the American nation.”
Equal treatment should be expected for the high & mighty’s in the Pentagon and Congress that spearheaded and participated in the attack!!!!
EXCERPT: “Two dozen years have gone by since the deadly terrorist attacks of 9/11, yet the alleged mastermind of the plot and his co-conspirators held at Guantánamo Bay still have not been put on trial for their crimes. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth told Just the News that he remains adamant about pursuing the death penalty against the al-Qaeda terrorists.
Nineteen al-Qaeda terrorists crashed hijacked planes into the World Trade Center buildings in New York City, the Pentagon, and a field near Shanksville in Pennsylvania after a revolt by the passengers overpowered the terrorists controlling that plane. The butcher’s bill that day was steep: nearly 3,000 people.
Hegseth seeks the death penalty: “The American people deserve justice”
“I am committed to seeking the death penalty for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) and for every 9/11 co-conspirator locked up at the Guantánamo Bay detention camp,” Hegseth told Just the News this week. “These savage terrorists deserve their day on trial as soon as possible, and the American people deserve justice for what they did on September 11th, 2001.”
It remains unclear when the alleged plotters of the 9/11 attack — KSM and others — could face a capital trial, in part due to the challenged admissibility of their confessions to the FBI following their treatment while in CIA custody, as well as due to actions taken by the Biden Defense Department where the 9/11 conspirators were offered plea deals in exchange for the death penalty being taken off the table, only for then-Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to attempt to withdraw the deals.
Lt. Col. Michael Schrama, the fifth military judge to handle the 9/11 case, is overseeing the prosecution of KSM, Baluchi, bin Attash, and Hawsawi. Col. Thomas P. Hynes is handling the case against bin al-Shibh, who was found unfit to stand trial in 2023.
The military commissions trial, if it happens, would have as its jury a panel of a dozen U.S. service members randomly drawn from a pool of active-duty military officers. The military commissions are a hybrid between a military tribunal and civilian court, authorized by the Military Commissions Act of 2009 after a prior setup was found unconstitutional…….”
it is disgusting that they have not been on trial already. the prior gov’ts have wanted the memory to fade–the outrage and the agony to ebb. They are not on trial because they may have a defense–members of our gov’t who were in on it–looked the other way and allowed it to happen.
it’s been 24 YEARS!
Just The News: “Attorney General Pam Bondi said that President Trump won’t send the National Guard to Chicago, and that troops will instead be sent to a city that “wants us.”
Trump has sent the National Guard to Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., to assist with cracking down on illegal immigration and crime. He has also expressed interest in sending the Guard to Chicago, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has started its own operation in the city. However, Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have pushed back on federal assistance.
Bondi on Tuesday said that the Trump administration will offer their assistance to a more receptive city, Washington Examiner reported. “They are a progressive city, and they don’t want the president’s help. That’s on them,” Bondi said of Chicago on Tuesday night. “Chicago should be begging Donald Trump for help to keep Chicago safe — yet they aren’t. So we’re going to a city who wants us there.”
Trump said on Tuesday, “We’re going to be announcing another city that we’re going to very shortly. We’re working it out with the governor of a certain state that would love us to be there and the mayor of a certain city in the same state. We’ll announce it probably tomorrow.”
Last week, Trump suggested sending the National Guard to New Orleans instead of Chicago. New Orleans is a Democratic-led city in a GOP-led state. Trump has said that Republican Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has invited a possible deployment.”
Just The News: “The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute on Wednesday announced it was postponing a scheduled book signing with conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot in Utah.
Kirk was killed at a rally in Utah earlier Wednesday, where he was speaking as part of a Turning Point USA college tour. No suspect has been apprehended over the shooting, but a person of interest was questioned by police before being released.
Shapiro was expected to participate in a book signing at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, according to The Hill. A new date for the signing is expected to be announced in the near future.
“The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is saddened to hear of events that took place today at Utah Valley University,” the foundation said in a statement. “Our prayers are with Charlie Kirk’s family and friends. As a mark of respect, we are cancelling our program and book signing with Ben Shapiro this evening.”
Shapiro and Kirk frequently ran in the same circles as conservative commentators and influencers. Shapiro, who recently released his latest book “Lions and Scavengers,” reflected on the friendship he shared with Kirk, including the pair’s meeting when Kirk was just 18-years-old.
“Like all of you, I am utterly stunned and heartbroken and sick to my soul today,” Shapiro posted on X. “It is unimaginable to write these words. I met Charlie Kirk when he was 18 years old, a young man so eager and determined that I immediately turned to a friend and said, ‘That kid is going to be the head of the RNC one day.’ Charlie became even bigger and more important than that.
“It was a privilege to watch this principled man stand up for his beliefs and create the single most important conservative political organization in America,” he continued. “But more importantly, Charlie was a good man, a man who believed in right and wrong, who stood by his Biblical values.”
Shapiro urged young conservatives to “pick up the baton” that Kirk left behind and continue to fight for the same principles and things that Kirk fought for. Kirk has been touted as one of the most influential voices on the right in recent years, notably founding Turning Point USA chapters at universities across the country and hosting speakers’ summits for young conservatives.”
Just The News: “A Florida appeals court ruled Wednesday that the state’s open-carry gun ban is unconstitutional, striking down the law. A three-judge panel for the state’s First District Court of Appeals ruled Florida law is irreconcilable with the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to bear arms, Spectrum News 13 reported. The state didn’t meet the burden of proof that the open-carry ban was in keeping with the ideals of the Bill of Rights.
“Because the Second Amendment’s plain text encompasses the open carrying of firearms in public, that conduct is presumptively protected by the Constitution,” the judges wrote in their opinion. “The State therefore bears the heavy burden of establishing a relevant historical tradition of firearms regulation that justifies its prohibition.”
The panel wrote that it is difficult for the state to distinguish between open and concealed carry without “disregarding both the Court’s originalist framework and our Nation’s historical tradition.”
“The Constitution protects the right to carry arms openly for self-defense. Florida’s Open Carry Ban cannot be reconciled with that guarantee. Section 790.053, Florida Statutes, is therefore declared unconstitutional. We answer the certified question in the affirmative, reverse McDaniels’s conviction, and vacate his sentence,” the judges wrote in the opinion.
State Attorney General James Uthmeier posted on X on Wednesday, supporting the ruling.
Florida’s 1st District Court of Appeals just ruled that Florida’s open carry ban is no longer constitutionally enforceable statewide. Our office fully supports the Court’s decision.
This is a big win for the Second Amendment rights of Floridians.
“Our office fully supports the Court’s decision,” Uthmeier wrote. “This is a big win for the Second Amendment rights of Floridians. As we’ve all witnessed over the last few days, our God-given right to self-defense is indispensable.”
Just The News: “First son Barron Trump has moved back to the White House while attending New York Universitya at the school’s Washington, D.C., campus, according to a report.
Trump, 19, lived at Trump Tower in New York City during his freshman year as he attended NYU’s flagship Greenwich Village campus, the New York Post reported. NYU’s D.C. campus accepts up to 120 students each semester, with courses for those pursuing careers in politics, public policy, history, economics and journalism.
The 19-year-old Trump lived in the White House during his father’s first term and attended high school in the area.
In August 2024, President Donald Trump teased his youngest son’s college choice. “He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student. And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny,” the president said of his son at the time.
The White House and NYU declined the Post’s requests for comment.”
Huh….blast from the past!!! Two VERY familiar names!!!
Just The News: “Retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Oliver North quietly married his former secretary in the Iran-Contra scandal, Fawn Hall, last month. North, 81, married Hall, 65, on Aug. 27 in Virginia, according to a copy of the marriage certificate that CNN obtained. North declined to comment to CNN on Tuesday, besides quoting a line delivered by Clark Gable’s character in “Gone with the Wind,” saying, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”
His first wife, Betsy, died last year, and Hall’s first husband, Danny Sugerman, manager of the rock band The Doors, died in 2005.
North and Hall were key figures in the Iran-Contra scandal nearly four decades ago, under the Reagan administration. At the time, North was a National Security Council staffer. He was part of the joint scheme to sell weapons to Iran, then use the proceeds to fund anti-communist rebels, known as the Contras, in Nicaragua.
Hall admitted to shredding damning documents related to the scandal. She had snuck documents that potentially implicated North’s involvement in the controversy out of the White House complex by stuffing them in her clothes and shoes, and the two later jammed a paper shredder by overfeeding it with documents.
The scandals were revealed in 1986, and those involved said their actions were necessary to secure the release of American hostages in the Middle East and that they facilitated President Ronald Reagan’s anti-communist policy goals in Central and South America. However, legislation limited U.S. government assistance to the Contras, and those involved also violated an arms embargo against Iran, and Reagan’s prior assurances that the U.S. would not negotiate with terrorists.
In 1989, North was convicted on three felony charges, which were vacated shortly after. Hall received immunity from prosecution.
North became a conservative political commentator after losing a U.S. Senate race in Virginia in 1994. He was the president of the National Rifle Association in 2018 before leaving less than a year later, due to a power struggle with the organization’s CEO, Wayne LaPierre.”

“Rest in Peace, Charlie — We lost another one of our generals.”
Jordan Schachtel, Sep 11, 2025
“We lost Charlie Kirk yesterday to a madman, one who remains at large. I pray that the FBI and law enforcement partners can find this man ASAP and bring him to justice.
As a husband and father, I feel an elevated sense of loss and outright anger for Charlie. We lost one of the stars of the conservative movement, sure, and that stings. But much more importantly, his children now have to grow up without a father. His wife must carry the enormous burden of losing her soulmate. What was done to Charlie was grossly unfair. It was a demonic level of evil.
Charlie had a uniquely American story. He began his life in activism with incredible passion, but without any credentials or significant contacts. He dropped out of college to build from scratch what has now become by far the most significant American campus coalition that has ever existed. He rose through the ranks in his field through hard work, a thirst for knowledge, a humble yet confident disposition, and a love for family, God and the American way.
We live in a hyper-technological era when we are encouraged to retreat from interacting with society. It is an era when public interaction with high-profile political figures is so desperately needed, and so too is robust debate and civil discourse between people who disagree. Now I fear civil society will be forced to retreat even further behind its screens and studios, because these events seem simply untenable for the foreseeable future.
Over the last few years, I’ve spoken at public and private events with a limited to non-existent security presence, with audiences ranging from hundreds to thousands of people. I just can’t see myself doing these kinds of gigs right now. As much as I love to get out on the road and exchange ideas, it’s hard to imagine it’s worth the risk. Does this mean the bad guy won? No, but it is tragic what is happening in America right now, and there are no easy answers. The whirlwind of political violence is entirely out of control.
Charlie was already a significantly influential figure by the time I had left Blaze Media and launched The Dossier. He was always supportive of our work here and brought me on his podcast and TV show as a regular guest. He frequently promoted our work and asked for nothing in return. He was a man of integrity, honor, and compassion. He was a mensch. I greatly appreciated his deep and genuine faith in God, his passion for Western values, and his robust defense of the Jewish people in an all too frequent campus climate of ferocious antisemitism.
In July of last year, I worked very closely with Charlie and his team to publish a major story involving President Biden. “You’re the right guy to track this down,” Charlie messaged me. Without hesitation and with total confidence, he directed all of his sources to get in contact with me. He was mission-oriented and never asked for anything in return.
I decided to become a firefighter after the horrific attacks of September 11, after witnessing the incredible bravery of the FDNY during that tragic day. I decided to first enter the political arena following the tragic early passing of Andrew Breitbart, seeking to do what I could to continue his legacy and fight the good fight for the future of America. I have zero doubt that Charlie Kirk’s legacy will inspire many millions to rise to the occasion and follow in his footsteps by bringing goodness and godliness to America.
Rest in peace, Charlie. You will be greatly missed.”
Just The News: “President Donald Trump on Thursday confirmed that he would posthumously award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
“Let me express the horror and grief of so many Americans at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk,” Trump said. “Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty, and an inspiration to millions and millions of people.”
“I am pleased to announce that I will soon be awarding Charlie Kirk, posthumously, the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” he added.
Kirk was assassinated at an open-air event at Utah Valley University. No suspect is in custody.”

“Regarding the Assassination of Charlie Kirk — I considered Charlie Kirk a friend and spiritual mentor. Please don’t jump to conclusions.”
Robert W Malone MD, MS, Sep 11, 2025
“Wikipedia calls him a “right-wing political activist.” That is a gross distortion and over-simplification. Speaking personally, I am deeply saddened and impacted by this assassination. I believe that Charlie was a future president and a gifted communicator, with a remarkably agile mind coupled to a deep commitment to Christianity, the United States, and to the founding principles of this country. His mind was a beacon, and his heart was pure and kind.
His assassination was an act of political violence, one that I think is on par with the notable domestic US political assassinations of the 1960s. Given his role as both a political and a spiritual leader, I personally think that the best analogy is the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. Others criticize me for saying that. Time will tell on that point. But it is indisputable that this event has occurred at a crucial point in modern US politics. The left and the Democrat party has suffered a major electoral defeat. It is facing a possible existential crisis, and yet not only refuses to reform and adapt but seems to be doubling down. The weaponized hate and division promoted on both social and corporate media is like nothing I have seen since the Vietnam war.
And at this critical junction, as the political conflict is really heating up for the midterm elections, we have this. The left and their corporate media surrogates seem to think that the political right are over reacting, as if Charlie Kirk is, as one post on “X” posited, “just another Nazi.” Just a MAGA leader. Just a Christian nutcase with influence over a small following of impressionable young students. Turning Point USA was just a fringe protest movement of far-right-wing radical youth. It is so easy to be infuriated at these intentional mischaracterizations.
I feel that emotion tug at my gut, just as I felt the pull when a young doctor with TDS that was called to testify by Senator Blumenthal at the recent Homeland Security investigations committee accused me of promoting violence – as did the Senator. How could I not be furious at being defamed once again? But I did not have the luxury of letting my anger get the best of me.
The risk here is that those of us who identify with MAGA and MAHA movements will lose self-control, and jump to conclusions. After being subjected to years of targeted hate and (frankly) violence of a wide variety of forms, it is so, so easy to dehumanize those who oppose us just as they seek to dehumanize us. So easy in our anger to lash out and say, write, or post intemperate words. But, as Dr. Toby Rogers found out during the hearing, the internet never forgets. “Nuremberg 2” and metaphors involving death for our opponents do not move the ball down the field, and can come back to really bite. Our opponents will do anything to project onto us the violent intent that they themselves are guilty of.
I am deeply disturbed and saddened by what has happened, and also by what i am learning about the left in this country by their words and actions. They live in a separate reality and have been dehumanizing us for years. In my mind, I am also gaining insight into the impact of the years of targeted hate directed at me. This evil is not banal. It is systemic. Last night on Newsmax I mentioned the prospect of civil war as a risk. The thought that this professional killing may have been backed by a foreign adversary keeps coming to mind. The USA is a powder keg. The left is filled with of hate, fury and frustration fanned by corporate media. The situation is a set up for foreign adversaries to act to light the fire.
I am very aware of the information first provided by Steven Crowder this morning:
But this narrative strikes me as all too convenient, too perfect. For me, this implied neat narrative about antifa and trans activism being the motivator for the shooting is too stereotypical. Too convenient.
My point is that the United States, and the current Administration led by Donald Trump, has many global geopolitical enemies. Enemies are both foreign and domestic. At this point in time, US politics and civics have become a powder keg waiting to explode if it encounters a match. Why wouldn’t foreign or domestic enemies seek to light that match, to watch us explode with internal conflict? It is precisely what should be expected. It is the logical and foreseeable outcome of all of this promoted hate.
Don’t bite on that hook. That is all I am asking. Keep that anger inside for now. Bide your time, watch, listen, think. You should be mad as hell about what just took place. I certainly am. But don’t be stupid. If you act out in either word or deed, our opponents will then weaponize that to justify more violence or violent rhetoric.
Bide your time, and remember that it is early in the information cycle, and we do not have the facts we need to draw conclusions about motivation or responsibility. It may be that some evil force is trying to set off the powder keg for their own nefarious purpose.
Thank you for reading and considering these opinions.
Best wishes, and God Bless America and the family of Charlie Kirk, who was not a far-right activist, but rather a great American leader, father, husband, and friend of all. I miss him and mourn for him deeply. I hope you do also.”
I went out to check my lopes and discovered one that had been blown off by the wind, still green, so I’ve got it sitting in a sunny spot on the patio. I also pulled out the cotton fabric strips and tied up the rest of the bigger lopes that are high up on the trellis. There are a couple nice sized ones that are already on the ground so at least I don’t have to worry about those.
Just The News: “The FBI and Utah law enforcement have made significant progress in the manhunt for Charlie Kirk’s assassin, recovering the weapon they believed was used to kill the prominent conservative activist as well as unspent ammunition with inscriptions implying a possible political motive, law enforcement officials told Just the News on Thursday.
The long-range, high-powered hunting rifle as well as two unspent ammunition cartridges had inscriptions tied to transgenderism and antifacist ideology, the officials said.
There is also significant video and photo evidence that could lead to the shooter’s identity, movements and possible accomplices, including his flight path from the scene at Utah Valley University. That footage on Thursday yielded the first images of a man the FBI believes is the key person of interest in the shooting.
“We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” the FBI’s Salt Lake City office posted on X.
The post included two pictures of the potential suspect dressed largely in black, wearing sunglasses, a dark cap, and a black backpack.
Officials told Just the News they are making significant strides in solving a shooting that has rocked both sides of the political world and painfully reminded America of the scourge of growing political violence.
“There is steady progress from photo recognition to weapons analysis and we are narrowing down those we think may have been involved,” a senior law enforcement official told Just the News, speaking only on condition of anonymity. “The coincidences and the evidence are pointing in a clear direction. Nothing is certain until you make arrests, but we have momentum.”
The most significant pieces of evidence, officials said, are the long-arms weapon and ammo that was recovered and that is believed to have been used by the assassin, as well as video footage from security cameras and attendees’ cell phone cameras that show the shooter from a rooftop shooting perch and then possibly fleeing along the roof line. Some security footage is grainy, but it led to additional footage that has allowed for enhanced photo recognition, the officials said.
The officials added they are examining the conduct of one or more people on the university grounds to determine whether there were accomplices, including specific questions asked or statements made to Kirk from the crowd before he was mortally wounded. “There are some activities we believe will turn out to not be coincidences,” one official said.
Another official said law enforcement and foreign partners have flagged some social media and other communications suggesting that a few people may have prior knowledge that Kirk would be harmed or did not know “what’s coming” when he arrived at the Utah campus.
“We are looking to see if those were guesses or based on real threat knowledge and whether there was a connection to ideology or bad actors and to those on the ground that we have suspicions about,” one official said.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls, who leads the Salt Lake Field Office, told the media Thursday morning, “We have recovered what we believe is the weapon that was used in yesterday’s shooting.” The firearm was a “a high-powered, bolt-action rifle” and was “recovered in a wooded area where the shooter had fled,” Bohls said, adding that the weapon is being sent to a lab for analysis.
Bohls said the suspected shooter “appears to be of college age” but did not provide a physical description beyond that. The FBI special agent added: “We are confident in our abilities to track that individual. If we are unsuccessful in identifying them immediately, then we will reach out for the public’s help and the media’s help in pushing those photos.”
Commissioner Beau Mason of the Utah Department of Public Safety told the press, “We were able to track the movements of the shooter” after the fact following an overnight investigation.
Mason said that the suspected shooter arrived close to campus around 11:52 a.m. local time, and that the shooting occurred around 12:20PM local time. The commission said that, after the shooting, investigators were able to go back and track the suspected shooter’s movements onto campus, through stairwells, onto the roof to a shooting location, his movements to other side after the shooting, him jumping off the building, and him fleeing campus and heading into the nearby neighborhood.
“We do have good video footage of this individual,” Mason said. “We are not going to release that at this time. We are working through some technologies and some ways to identify this individual. If we are unsuccessful, we will reach out to you in the media and we will push that publicly to help us identify him, but we are confident in our abilities right now.”
“Oak Ridge, Tennessee, then known only as the Clinton Engineering Works, was conspicuously absent from any map. On 60,000 acres of farmland framed by the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, it was one of the United States’ three secret cities—remote sites chosen by Manhattan Project director Gen. Leslie Groves, evacuated of their civilian inhabitants, and developed for the specific purpose of producing an atomic bomb. The men and women of the Clinton Engineering Works would help provide the material for the first two bombs.

“On September 11, 2001, FDNY Firefighter Tim Duffy, though off duty, raced into the heart of the chaos on his 2000 Harley-Davidson Super Glide Sport — grabbing his gear from the firehouse and riding through a dust-choked Manhattan street to reach Ground Zero. The image, taken moments after the first tower fell, freezes a surreal moment as he cuts through debris and paper in a haze of destruction.
Shortly after arriving and while helping others to safety, Duffy was buried under rubble when the North Tower collapsed. Remarkably, he survived the collapse and continued his rescue efforts despite the choking dust and chaos.
Duffy’s Harley-Davidson also survived the day. He still rides it to this day and has used it for fundraising and charitable work, including for a charity he founded called “1 Soldier, 1 Dog, 1 Team,” which pairs shelter dogs with veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD.
The story and the image of Tim Duffy on his motorcycle have been featured in various media, including at a 9/11 ceremony at the Harley-Davidson Museum, where it was highlighted as a perfect illustration of the heroic attitude of first responders.”
“Fans on rooftops across from Shibe Park in Philadelphia, 1919. During its heyday, fans watched games at Shibe Park from rooftop bleachers, windows, and porches across North 20th Street, creating one of baseball’s great urban traditions. This practice began in the park’s earliest years (opened 1909), with homeowners capitalizing on their direct views over the park’s original 12-foot right-field wall. Residents set up wooden bleacher seating atop houses on North 20th Street, selling tickets for major games including multiple World Series (1910, 1911, 1913, 1914, and 1929).
On important game days, thousands watched from rooftops and upper windows, sometimes exceeding the capacity of sections inside the stadium. Children, neighbors, and vendors participated in a lively cottage industry, selling refreshments and tickets from doorways and rooftops.
In 1935, as rooftop viewing became more organized during the Depression, team ownership (Connie Mack) raised the right field wall to 50 feet with a corrugated “spite fence,” blocking street-side views and effectively ending the tradition.”

Pennsylvania: McGillin’s Olde Ale House
“This Philadelphia tavern is so old that it predates City Hall. Initially called the Bell in Hand Tavern, Catherine and William McGillin and their 13 kids lived upstairs. As they accumulated more property, they added an oyster house to the beer and food served in the bar section. The tavern still prepares pub fare like shepherd’s pie and fish and chips.”

Just The News: “The House Oversight Committee on Thursday released a new report that appeared to show how some of former President Joe Biden’s allies financially benefited from his Green New Deal. The staff report, titled “The Green New Scam: The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund,” accused the Biden administration of creating a scheme to funnel billions of taxpayer dollars to nonprofits run by the former president’s allies.
The 21-page report also found there was waste and abuse within the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), including taxpayer dollars funding massive salaries and luxurious travel benefits for some of the executives.
“It’s clear the Biden Administration turned the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) into a vehicle for rewarding political allies, all while risking the stability of our energy infrastructure and burdening American families with higher utility costs,” House Oversight Chairman James Comer said in a statement.
“Americans deserve better than this green energy scam disguised as environmental justice, and Oversight Republicans will continue to hold the Biden Administration accountable to ensure the EPA operates as intended and that taxpayer dollars are spent transparently, responsibly, and in the best interest of the American people,” he added.
The report comes after EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin terminated many grants after conducting an internal review of the GGRF award process in March. The review found instances of waste and abuse.
“We applaud EPA Administrator Zeldin’s action to shut down this Green New Deal scam and protect taxpayer dollars from waste, fraud, and abuse,” Comer said.”
“GFY, David French — French, like so many others, are trying to absolve themselves of culpability in creating the political climate that led to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Ain’t happening.”
Julie Kelly, Sep 11, 2025
“Arizona Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego took to the Senate floor on Wednesday to condemn the Pentagon’s plans to give Ashli Babbitt, a Trump supporter executed by a Capitol Police officer on January 6, an honorary military funeral. Gallego had filed a resolution to prevent the Air Force from going forward with the plans. “Ashli Babbitt is a traitor,” Gallego proclaimed. He then spent the next three minutes unleashing a vile and highly personal attack against Babbitt, who had served in the military for 13 years including eight deployments.
Watch: (Video)
Around the same time Gallego was again using the events of January 6 to stoke rage among the Democratic Party base, nearly 2,000 miles away a still unknown shooter was on the campus of Utah Valley University preparing to assassinate Charlie Kirk. And while a shocked MAGA nation, including his own constituents, awaited word on Kirk’s condition, Gallego proudly posted his tirade on his official Senate X account. (It was deleted after I called him out.)
Gallego then tried to save face by posting a laughably insincere message about Kirk’s murder. “Beyond politics Charlie Kirk was someone’s father, husband and son. Remember that first, before engaging in whataboutism. His family will never be the same. Political violence has to stop by all sides.”
But of course Gallego, like each of his Democratic colleagues, is full of shit. Political violence is only prevalent on one side—his side—and no amount of mendacious rhetoric about a four-hour protest in a government building on a Wednesday afternoon when the only people who died were Trump supporters will change that fact.
The Both-Siding of Political Violence
In reaction to Kirk’s murder, soulless Democrats responsible for dousing daily fuel on America’s raging political fire robotically mimicked the “political violence” canard. Everyone from Bernie Sanders and Barack Obama to Ilhan Omar puked out, likely reluctantly, the same stiff lines in unison. “[There] there can be no tolerance for political violence in America,” declared Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut.
His flaccidity, however, represented a stark change of heart from just a day earlier. Here is Murphy calmly discussing going to war with Republicans.
(Video)
Versions of Murphy’s transparent pivot played out across social media on Wednesday and Thursday; the same cabal of Democrats, media figures, and NeverTrump haters culpable for ratcheting up the temperature against the president and anyone around him tried to clean their hands of dirty fingerprints.
Perhaps the best example is inveterate liar and insidious try-hard David French. For a solid decade, French has helped lead the now threadbare NeverTrump movement, a ragtag group of washed-up “conservatives” who banded together in 2016 to act as useful idiots for the Left. (I wrote a book about NeverTrump in 2020.)
Get That Plank Out of Your Eye, Pastor French
One would be hard pressed to find someone who has spread more vicious lies and made more bombastic warnings about the president and MAGA movement than French. A glance through his most recent articles at the New York Times—constantly prostrating before the Left as an alleged “conservative” gets one cushy gigs at corporate news organizations—demonstrates how French dutifully contributes to the drumbeat of hate and rage.
“[Each] new day brings us fresh evidence of a deeply troubling trend: America is no longer a stable country, and it is growing less stable by the day,” French warned in June.
French’s recent headlines say it all: “Kindness is MAGA Kryptonite.” “Trump is Doing Real Damage to America.” “The Trump Crisis Deepens.” (That doozy was written two weeks after Inauguration Day.) “Can Martial Law Happen in America?”
Just two weeks ago, French once again referred to the Trump administration as an “authoritarian regime” for bringing reform to the weaponized Department of Justice. “The atomic bomb has detonated, and only the American people can ultimately pick up the pieces and repair our Republic. But until a decisive number of Americans reject the man and his movement, he will continue to wreck American justice, and not even the Constitution can stand in his way,” French claimed.
But butter wouldn’t melt on French’s forked tongue when talking about Kirk in his latest column. Suddenly, French’s open contempt for a movement Kirk helped build disappeared. He described Kirk as a “hero to countless conservative college students” and “the most successful conservative political personality in America not named Donald Trump.”
His crocodile tears continued; as if to compete with Kirk, French said during visits to college campuses, he tells students the thing that worries him the most is “hatred.” LOL.
“Even vast political differences can be managed when people acknowledge the humanity and dignity of their opponents. At the same time, however, small conflicts can spiral into big ones when hatred and vengeance take away our eyes and ears.” French opined.
Really? REALLY?
Is this the same Charlie Kirk who French cited by name as being part of a movement that has “lost its moral voice and its moral will?” The same Charlie Kirk, according to French, who is “aggressively punitive and perpetually aggrieved” and spreading “lies and conspiracies” after Kirk defended Alex Jones in 2022?
The same Charlie Kirk who French accused of contributing to “rightwing antisemitism” in 2023?
When Kirk and others including Vice President JD Vance mocked “childless” women who overpopulate the Democratic Party, French described their views as “malicious.” He even went so far as to question their promotion of having big families—it often fosters “a sense of moral superiority, French said—and suggested their efforts were racist.
And what about French’s appalling attacks against Christian Trump supporters in general? Kirk not only led countless young people to the MAGA movement but also an untold number to Jesus Christ. Yet French cited comments made by Kirk at an evangelical event last year as proof that “ancient hatreds are re-emerging in the Christian far right.”
“The MAGA method is clear. First, it whips up its people into a religious frenzy. It lies to convince them that the Democrats are an existential threat to the country and the church. It tells worried Christians that the fate of the nation is at stake. Then, just as it builds up the danger from the Democrats, it constructs an idol of Trump, declaring his divine purpose and spreading the prophecies of his coming return. He is to be the instrument of divine vengeance against his foes, and his frenzied foot soldiers are eager to carry out his will. They march eagerly to culture war, flying the flag of the House of Trump.” David French, March 2024
Four months later, Trump survived an assassination attempt.
Reaping and Sowing Time
But sweet Charlie Kirk did not. As we continue to mourn his unfathomable loss, pray between sobs for his devoted wife and their beautiful children, and try to console millions of young Americans grief-stricken and angry—those responsible for stoking the sort of hate that resulted in Charlie’s assassination will not be forgiven. Or forgotten.

JD Vance
@JDVance
A while ago, probably in 2017, I appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox show to talk about God knows what.
You ran a good race, my friend.
We’ve got it from here.

“Rest in Peace, Charlie Kirk”
Techno Fog, Sep 10, 2025
“It’s tough to find the words.

“Our office fully supports the Court’s decision,” Uthmeier wrote. “This is a big win for the Second Amendment rights of Floridians. As we’ve all witnessed over the last few days, our God-given right to self-defense is indispensable.”

NYU’s D.C. campus accepts up to 120 students each semester, with courses for those pursuing careers in politics, public policy, history, economics and journalism.
The 19-year-old Trump lived in the White House during his father’s first term and attended high school in the area.
In August 2024, President Donald Trump teased his youngest son’s college choice. “He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy.

That means you, David French.”
