What Shall We Make today?

Today’s entry in the No-Bake Goodies Month is Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars.

Ingredients

1/2 cup salted butter, melted*

1 cup graham cracker crumbs (about 8 full sheet graham crackers)*

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

1 cup + 2 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter, divided

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Line an 8-inch or 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Set aside.

Mix the melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, and confectioners’ sugar together in a medium bowl. Stir in 1 cup of peanut butter, then press evenly into prepared baking pan.

Melt remaining 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter with the chocolate chips in the microwave or on the stove. Stir until smooth. Spread over peanut butter layer.

Chill in the refrigerator until completely firm, at least 2 hours. Allow to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting. Serve chilled. Setting them out for a few hours at room temperature for serving is OK.

Cover leftover bars tightly and refrigerate for up to 1 week.

ENJOY!

  1. Morning All!
feathery clouds out there this morning–snow clouds…lol
temps are supposed to be cooler for a little while.
The visit with mom was good, BUT my brother is thinking of moving her yet again! Mom shares a room with another woman. Mom sleeps in her recliner (not a bed) so they allowed her to bring her recliner. The problem is, this really doesn’t look like a double room to me. there are 2 closets, but Mom has her chair, a dresser and a tiny nightstand on her side which also has the bathroom door and the window, but below the window is the heating/cooling unit so she’s pretty cramped. She doesn’t even have a tray or anything close by to write on. There are no tvs in the rooms or phones. If she wants, she can bring a tv from home but she wants to wait to see if she stays there. She was promised a single room, but there were none available when they moved her, so now he’s looking at ANOTHER place. sigh

And my dumbass brother brought her gigantic pages to color–seriously like a quarter of my dining room table would be covered with one sheet–space fighters and hello kitty stuff.

And mom is annoyed that my SIL threw out a lot of her clothes. she didn’t offer them to anyone or donate them and Mom had nice coats and clothing she’s too small for now. I was asking about other things too–things Mom forgot she had and now wonders where it all is…

    her house is already sold.

on the plus side, she was walking really well with the walker and we walked all around the facility and she kept a good pace. She forgets some things–but i really doubt she is on a level with any of the other patients there.

    1. Good morning, Pat! Aw, jeez! For such an independent woman to have to put up with all that…..just sucks! Temp is really chilly here this morning – only 61, with some clouds – that can go either way: cloud up more w/rain or clear off – just never know here! As they say….if you don’t like the weather, wait 24 hours – it’s bound to change.

My Sis called last night to tell me she had to have Jake put to sleep – he quit eating about a week ago – she tried 4 or 5 different food mixtures and he refused everything. When she took him to the vet, he noticed that the inside of his mouth and ears was very yellow – he looked at his blood tests and determined that he had advanced liver disease. Considering his age, it was the best thing to do. She buried him in her cat cemetery w/her other cats.

  2. POTUS cuts 5 eyes out of intelligence briefings.

    FTA

The “Five Eyes” intelligence sharing arrangement has put the United States’ hundred billion dollar+ intelligence budget at the service of the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, vastly benefitting the intelligence agencies of Anglosphere allies.

But, to the shock of many, the Trump administration is cutting them out of key areas of interest. Politico’s European edition reports:

U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is blocking America’s closest intelligence allies from receiving updates on Russia-Ukraine peace talks in a shock move that upends decades of tight cooperation.

That effectively cuts America’s Five Eyes partners — the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand — out of the loop, stunning the intelligence community that has relied on the network since the end of World War II.

In a July 20 directive signed by Gabbard, reported by CBS, the U.S. intelligence community was given orders to classify all analysis and information related to the Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations as “NOFORN,” or no foreign dissemination, meaning the information cannot be shared with any other country or foreign nationals.

  3. Just The News: “The foreign-born population in the United States shrunk this year for the first time since the 1960s, according to new data from the nonpartisan Pew Research Center.

After rapidly growing for more than 50 years, the number of immigrants living in the U.S. reached a record high of 53.3 million in January 2025. The following months showed a decline of nearly 1.5 million, a likely mark of President Donald Trump’s second-term immigration policies. The new Pew study shows that more people are leaving the U.S. than are entering it, the first time this has happened in more than half a century.

The analysis also found that the number of noncitizens in the U.S. illegally reached a record high of 14 million in 2023, a trend which Trump routinely drew on while campaigning against his opponents in the 2024 presidential race, first former President Joe Biden and then former Vice President Kamala Harris.

A nationwide crackdown on immigration has been a central part of Trump’s second-term policy agenda. He has signed 181 executive orders relating to immigration since returning to the White House in January. The administration has implemented its immigration policies through mass deportations of noncitizens, incentivising self deportations, heightened security at the U.S.’s southwestern border and by toughening up student visa requirements.

These policies were reflected in Pew’s data, which found that the percent of the U.S. population made up of immigrants shrunk to 15.4% in June from 15.8% in January.

Immigrants, both lawful and unlawful, make up a sizable portion of the U.S. workforce. Pew’s report shows that the U.S. lost more than 750,000 workers since January with the percent of immigrants in the workforce declining from 20% to 19% in six months.

Economists say the strain a declining workforce will have on the U.S. economy is contingent on the scope of Trump’s immigration policies during the latter half of his second term. If current trends continue, the U.S. is likely to face economic challenges stemming from the significant decline in workers.”

Just The News: “An American Airlines flight from Philadelphia made an emergency landing in the nation’s capital Saturday after a passenger’s device began emitting smoke.

Flight 357 was headed for Phoenix when it landed safely at Washington’s Dulles International Airport shortly after noon ET, and its 160 passengers were rebooked on other flights, the airline said.

“American Airlines Flight 357 landed safely at Washington-Dulles (IAD) following reports of smoke from a customer’s device. The device was quickly contained by crew members prior to landing,” the airline said in a statement.

“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this caused and thank our crew for their professionalism,” it added.”

  5. Just The News: “Postal services around Europe across multiple countries announced on Saturday that they are suspending the shipment of packages to the United States due to issues related to new import duties.

Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Italy postal services are among those temporarily suspending the shipments. The Associated Press reported that France and Austria are going to follow suit on Monday.

An exemption that allowed packages valued under $800 to enter the U.S. duty-free ended on Friday, prompting the announcement from postal services in European countries, the AP reported.”

  6. Just The News: “The Supreme Court agreed Friday to hear a challenge to a wealthy Washington, D.C. suburb’s refusal to let religious parents opt out their children as young as 3 from instruction in “Pride storybooks” or notify them when the material – includes sex workers, kink, drag, gender transitions and elementary-age same-sex romance – would be taught.

The case united Muslims, Christians and Jews against Maryland’s Montgomery County Public Schools, “the most religiously diverse county in the United States,” with the Council on American-Islamic Relations organizing protests against the policy.

The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the school district on the basis that the English Language Arts lessons did not force anyone “to change their religious beliefs or conduct” in violation of the 1972 SCOTUS precedent Yoder.

The district’s position and rationale has fluctuated, twice claiming months apart that it would notify parents and let them opt out their children, then reversing itself a day after the second assertion by claiming that because the lessons were not part of sex education, they were exempt from state law on notice and opt-out.

“Cramming down controversial gender ideology on three-year-olds without their parents’ permission is an affront to our nation’s traditions, parental rights, and basic human decency,” said Eric Baxter, vice president and senior counsel at Becket. “The Court must make clear: parents, not the state, should be the ones deciding how and when to introduce their children to sensitive issues about gender and sexuality.”

“The Court must make clear: parents, not the state, should be the ones deciding how and when to introduce their children to sensitive issues about gender and sexuality,” he said in Becket’s response to SCOTUS taking the case.”

    1. they are erasing parental rights. i remember in middle school we had to have a permission slip signed by our parents on whether or not we could attend the “period” classes. they decided if they wanted a NURSE or themselves to teach that to students.
kids as young as 3 should be nowhere near that shit!

  8. Just The News: “President Trump responded on Sunday to Maryland Democratic Gov. Wes Moore, who had called on the president to “come walk the streets with us.”

Trump said Moore should lower crime and clean up Baltimore first. Trump also suggested that he might “rethink” the decision to give money for the bridge that had collapsed in Baltimore after a cargo ship accident.

“Governor Wes Moore of Maryland has asked, in a rather nasty and provocative tone, that I ‘walk the streets of Maryland’ with him,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I assume he is talking about out of control, crime ridden, Baltimore? As President, I would much prefer that he clean up this Crime disaster before I go there for a ‘walk.’”

Trump argued Moore has a “very bad” record on crime in the state and said he would send troops if he “needs help, like Gavin Newscum did in L.A.”

“After only one week, there is NO CRIME AND NO MURDER IN DC! When it is like that in Baltimore, I will proudly ‘walk the streets’ with the failing, because of Crime, Governor of Maryland,” Trump wrote. “P.S. Baltimore is ranked the 4th WORST CITY IN THE NATION IN CRIME & MURDER,” Trump continued. “Stop talking and get to work, Wes. I’ll then see you on the streets!!!”

This week, Moore challenged Trump to see the streets of Baltimore up close amid his crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital. “I’d love for the president to take us up on our offer and actually come walk the streets with us,” Moore said on NewsNation.”

  9. “The Unseen Cost of Organ Transplants: Ethical Issues and Spiritual Implications: Exploring the Ambiguity of Brain Death, the Ethics of Organ Harvesting, and the Mysterious Transference of Consciousness”

    A Midwestern Doctor, Aug 24, 2025

    Story at a Glance:

•Transplanted organs are typically sourced from “brain dead” donors. However, brain death is a surprisingly ambiguous diagnosis, and since its invention, many have argued patients who are still consciously aware are having their organs transplanted.

•Over the years, compelling evidence has accumulated suggesting this occurs, and has worsened as there has been a greater and greater need for donor organs, leading to a cruel blackmarket overseas where they are directly harvested from living donors (e.g., prisoners). Recently, government investigations showed systemic issues exist within the organ donation process that are causing inappropriate organ harvesting to occur.

•When organs are transplanted, memories, personalities, preferences, and skills (including what happened at the donors moment of death) have been repeatedly observed to transfer from the donor to recipient in a manner that strongly suggests a real transference is occurring—raising significant questions as to where our consciousness or memories comes from and who we actually are, along with the ethics of sourcing organs from non-consenting donors.

•Maintaining the viability of transplanted organs is quite challenging (e.g., making vaccination a precondition for transplants, despite evidence showing the COVID vaccine caused transplants to fail). In many cases, these challenges appear to result from aspects of consciousness being transferred from the donor to recipient.

•This article will review these points along with our preferred approaches to restoring failing organs and releasing retained emotional trauma.

When I first applied for a driver’s license, I was asked if I wanted to designate myself as an organ donor. Given my learned distrust of societal institutions (e.g., medicine) and a few concerning stories I’d come across, I opted to not be an organ donor. However, I also felt quite conflicted about doing so, particularly since I strongly believe in following the golden rule (treat others as you would want to be treated) and knew that if I needed a transplant I would be desperate for the appropriate donor to be willing to give the gift of life to me.

Since that time (when information challenging the mainstream narrative was quite difficult to find), I’ve come across much more information on the topic which paints a rather disturbing but also amazing profoundly paradigm shifting perspective on the topic (e.g., this article will detail the tangible spiritual consequences of receiving an unethically harvested organ).

However, due to my inherent conflict over this topic (e.g., many people need organs so I don’t want to discourage donations—particularly since organ shortages cause even more unethical steps to be taken to procure organs), I focused on other topics and only started this article in July. To my great surprise, a few weeks later, RFK Jr. did something I never anticipated and formally announced that there were widespread failures of the ethical safeguards in our organ donation system, after which, the Overton window was blown open and others (e.g., the head of the Independent Medical Alliance) began discussing the grim reality organs were being taken from still living people…..”

    1. i was mislead about the process as well. i thought you were donating your organs to someone–if you donate your clothes, the recipient does NOT pay for them. in organ donations they have to pay for your organ. sounds like doctors and hospitals profit off that and i don’t like that!

  10. “President Trump announces Intel has agreed to “give” U.S. 10% stake”

Not The Bee, Dr. Jones, Aug 23, 2025

Image for article: President Trump announces Intel has agreed to "give" U.S. 10% stake

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “He may be spending his days in the Oval Office running the country, but President Trump just can’t help himself when there’s a business deal to be made. Trump announced on Truth Social that tech manufacturer Intel had agreed to “give” the United States a 10% ownership stake in the company.

    As reported by The Hill:

Trump offered some details Friday on how the agreement came about after he initially called on Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan to resign earlier this month.

‘I said, “Well that’s right he should resign,”‘ Trump said. ‘And he came in, he saw me, we talked for a while. I liked him a lot. I thought he was very good. I thought he was somewhat a victim, but, you know, nobody’s a total victim, I guess.”‘

‘And I said, “You know what? I think the United States should be given 10 percent of Intel.” And he said, “I would consider that,”‘ the president continued. ‘Intel has been left behind, as you know, compared to [Nvidia CEO] Jensen [Huang] and some of our friends.’

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the deal could pave the way for Intel to move its operations back to the United States.

‘We cannot rely on Taiwan, which is 9,500 miles away from us and only 80 miles from China,’ he told CNBC’s ‘Squawk Box.’ ‘So, you can’t have 99 percent of leading-edge chips made in Taiwan. We want to make them here.’

‘One of those pieces is it would be lovely to have Intel be capable of making a U.S. node or a U.S. transistor, driving that in America,’ he added.

The deal is not without its detractors, however. Republican lawmakers like like Thom Tillis and Rand Paul immediately criticized the move as being a step towards socialism:

This is definitely not your mom and dad’s Republican Party.”
