I found an unusual recipe that I haven’t tried yet, but I plan to! Butterfinger Cake!

Ingredients
yellow cake mix plus ingredients to prepare (1 box)
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk (1 can)
12.25 ounces caramel sauce (1 jar)
8 ounces Cool Whip thawed (or 3 cups homemade)
4 full-size Butterfingers candy bars
Instructions
Preheat the oven and prepare the yellow cake mix according to the package directions for a 9-inch x 13-inch baking dish.
While the cake is baking, mix together caramel sauce and sweetened condensed milk in a medium bowl.
Take the cake out of the oven. While it’s still warm poke holes all over the top with the back of a wooden spoon, skewer, or a fork.
Pour the caramel mixture all over the warm cake and then let it sit on a wire rack until completely cooled. (The cake will soak up the caramel)
Crush up all the Butterfingers and sprinkle 2 of the candy bars evenly over the cake.
*Pro Tip: Put the candy bars in the freezer so they’ll crush better. Then crush the Butterfingers in the wrappers, cut the tops off, and pour them out over the cake.
Frost the cake with the Cool Whip so the entire top is covered.
Sprinkle the top of the cake with the remaining 2 crushed Butterfingers. Store in the fridge until ready to cut into 12 slices and serve.
Enjoy!
Good morning, Pat! Looking ahead to a 100+ temp day…..OK, I’m looking for suggestions on how to decorate this CW stump….I want something that would be in proportion, which means BIG! Any thoughts? Hmmm….I thought I had taken a picture but apparently not. I’ll take one when it gets light to show the scale needed. Of course, something for veterans comes to mind but…..I want something different and unique. I’d love a huge statue of a horse….

Good morning, Y’all! WP has changed the rules again and evidently, I have to sign in at every sister blog individually, by clicking the blue W circle at the bottom of the comment box.
N. FL is having typical weather on the first day of Summer – 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 103.
We are getting toward the end of the work cleaning out Sally Q’s apartment. We donated most things that the family didn’t want to the Village thrift shops. Sabrina and I took a few things.
All the clearing and cleaning out has gotten me to the mindset of finally cleaning out my own house and closets of excess stuff. Way past time!
Still grieving the loss of our daughter – but would not bring her back to endure another day of disability.
This weekend, I’m planning to clean and touch up the color of the grout on the bathroom floor of her apartment. Also, some people are coming to pick up furniture and help me move some pieces into my car and into the spare apartment in this building, which has a leak, that I’m using as storage, sewing, staging, sleeping and bathing. Still cooking in Sally’s apartment.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Just The News: “A federal appeals court ruled late Thursday that President Donald Trump may retain control over California’s National Guard while Gov. Gavin Newsom pursues a lawsuit challenging the administration’s use of the troops to quell anti-immigration enforcement riots in Los Angeles.
A three-judge panel at the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals handed Trump a victory by unanimously extending its pause on U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer’s ruling that the president had activated the National Guard into federal service illegally.
Breyer ruled Trump violated U.S. law governing a president’s ability to take control of a state’s National Guard by failing to coordinate with the governor, and also found that the conditions set out under the statute to allow this move, such as a rebellion against federal authority, did not exist.
But the appellate judges ruled unanimously that Trump likely would prevail in the lawsuit, and therefore could maintain control over the guard units for the time being.
“Affording the President that deference, we conclude that it is likely that the President lawfully exercised his statutory authority under § 12406(3), which authorizes federalization of the National Guard when the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States,” the court stated.”

Just The News: “The director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has been engaging in an online attack since Wednesday against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, calling for his resignation.
Director Bill Pulte, who was nominated by President Donald Trump in January and confirmed in March, began his five-year term overseeing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks. He has written more than a dozen posts on social media calling for Powell’s resignation, according to The Hill.
Pulte’s campaign started shortly before the Fed announced Wednesday it would be keeping interest rates unchanged for another month. President Trump has been publicly blasting Powell and the Fed for not cutting interest rates even though the unemployment rate remains close to historic lows.
Trump and Pulte both claim the Fed is hurting the U.S. economy by not lowering the rate. Pulte has pointed to its effect on the housing market by keeping 30-year fixed mortgage rates close to 7 percent.
“As Chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, I can tell you that Jay Powell is hurting the housing market by being Too Late to lower rates. He needs to resign, effective immediately,” Pulte wrote Wednesday.
Trump nominated Powell to be the Fed chairman in 2017, and he was confirmed in 2018, succeeding Janet Yellen.
The vote to keep the rates steady was unanimous by all 12 of the Fed officials who voted on that decision.”

Just The News: “The New York City Police Department (NYPD) has named 21-year-old New Jersey native Jakhi Lodgson-McCray as the suspect behind the torching of several police vehicles in Brooklyn earlier this month.
Brooklyn police say that on Thursday, June 12, at approximately 1 a.m., the suspect climbed over a gate and entered a police parking lot where he allegedly placed fire starters on the windshields, hoods, and tires of several NYPD vehicles, according to ABC/7 News. A fire ignited, damaging 11 NYPD vehicles.
“This was an attack on the NYPD but it was also an attack on the safety of the community of Bushwick,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said, adding that “we do believe that he acted alone, and obviously he targeted this location because it is a police facility.” He said that the suspect changed his disguise “several times during his escape.”
The NYPD’s social media accounts posted photos Wednesday of Lodgson-McCray, adding that “there is zero tolerance for anyone who attacks the NYPD,” per The Daily Caller.
He was wanted previously for causing over $1,000 worth of damage last fall to a Columbia University statue during anti-Israel protests, police said. The Daily Caller reports that he has two open criminal cases, for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest last month, and another for assault and resisting arrest in May 2024. He pleaded not guilty in both cases and was released without bail.”

Putin and Xi Discuss Middle East Crisis
Our Take: The picture they used for the article made me chuckle, because it looks like something out of a Hollywood movie trailer.
Netanyahu has certainly delivered on the promises I’ve teased over the past 15+ months, becoming the villain that this story deserves. (Sorry, Hillary, but yet again you have had your job taken by a man who outperformed you.) President Trump is obviously playing some sort of a role — a feint; to what end we can only guess, but I would assume that it has something to do with baiting all the liars in the media and political-sphere into exposing themselves.
But this story still needs a hero, and until President Trump has his kayfabe moment and completes the character arc, that role is going to be filled by Putin and the homies. We’ve gotten our fair share of Kim Jong Un and Mohammed bin Salman, but Xi Jinping has been noticeably absent from the screen for quite some time.
As I’ve shared before, China now gets 60% of its oil from Iran, thanks to new deals that were struck last year. That means the Chinese economy is very dependent on Iran remaining a stable country that is not being bombed by radicalized zealots.
Thanks to President Trump’s strongarm negotiating tactics with tariffs, the European Union is now looking to China for cheap goods, so it can keep its crumbling economy propped up until the Great Reset is fully ready to implement. That means the Chinese economy and the European economy are both dependent on Iran remaining a stable, safe place. (Not to mention, the billions of dollars in bilateral investment between Saudi Arabia and Europe, thanks to trade deals negotiated by MBS and Faisal bin Farhan.)
Israel is being isolated, geopolitically. Nobody will come to their aid, because all of the groundwork has been laid to disincentivize a war with Iran. Netanyahu made the only move he had available in order to remain in office and avoid prison — attack Iran — and now Israel has bitten off more than it can chew.
But to really sell the story, we still need the dramatic climax and resolution to unfold, and that’s where Putin, Xi, and ultimately Trump, will come in, to face this dangerous animal that is desperately seeking a world war. – GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

The Federalist: “The alarmists were right. Ten years after the Obergefell decision enacting same-sex marriage nationwide, its opponents — smeared then and now as cranks and bigots — have been vindicated. Same-sex marriage was sold to the public through a campaign of lies, and the lies are hurting people.
It is therefore no wonder that support for same-sex marriage seems to have peaked, and may even be starting to decline, especially on the right. Of course, GOP leaders, whether from MAGA or the old establishment, have no stomach for the fight. They just want the issue to go away. They and the left thought that opponents of same-sex marriage should surrender or slink off into the social shadows and fringes.
But instead, the remaining opponents of same-sex marriage seem emboldened. The latest example comes from the Southern Baptist Convention, which overwhelmingly voted for a resolution calling for Obergefell to be overturned. It is not surprising that Southern Baptists are still against same-sex marriage, but engaging the issue shows that they do not consider it a lost cause. And they may well be right.
During debates over same-sex marriage, Americans were endlessly told that there was no slippery slope. We were assured that this was about loving adults, and that the gay-rights movement was not going to infringe on anyone else’s rights, let alone try to groom kids in any way. They lied.
Not only did they lie, they did not even bother to hide it. After Obergefell, the champions of same-sex marriage were convinced that they were riding an inexorable wave of rainbow-hued social progress, and so they enthusiastically launched their movement down an incline that was practically a cliff. The same people and organizations that told us that same-sex marriage was about letting adults live and let live championed transitioning children and demanded a drag queen in every child’s library story hour and a man in every girls’ locker room. They declared that “eunuch” was a valid “gender identity” that ought to be medically affirmed.
The mantra that “love is love” disappeared into a sudden enthusiasm for polyamory — love is love is love is love. They demanded a right to buy babies without so much as a background check. And they insisted that all of this be celebrated through a new lineup of holidays, capped by the month-long national festivities of Pride. And those who objected had their reputations, careers, and even families threatened and attacked.
These excesses and evils were intrinsic to the campaign for same-sex marriage, which is rooted in a revolt against human nature and a rejection of the normativity of male and female. It places subjective desire at the core of human identity, and disdains all restraint on that desire. This established a disconnect between human embodiment and human meaning and identity. Same-sex marriage presumed that men and women — and mothers and fathers — are interchangeable except insofar as they are objects of personal sexual desire.
This is why the supposed inclusion of same-sex marriage meant social revolution. It is not just that Obergefell was an activist decision utterly ungrounded in the Constitution, though of course it was, but that same-sex marriage was intrinsically radical. If the differences between male and female don’t matter in marriage, then they don’t matter anywhere, which is why same-sex marriage immediately led to the promotion of gender ideology, especially for children.
Thus, opposition to same-sex marriage is essential to defending the truth about human nature and about how we flourish and are fulfilled. As Andrew Walker, a Baptist theologian and my colleague at the Ethics and Public Policy Center explained to a reporter following the Southern Baptists’ vote:
The truth about marriage as the union of one man and one woman is not an idiosyncratic religious observance or opinion, but is rooted in the immutable reality of who we are and how we are to live for our own good and the good of others.
Of course, instantiating these truths will require more than rejecting same-sex marriage, which was always just part of the sexual revolution and its evils. This revolution did not begin with same-sex couples: marriage had been degraded and redefined a great deal before same-sex marriage even became thinkable. Nonetheless, the legal enactment of same-sex marriage further enshrined the lies of sexual liberalism, with its hatred for human nature.
And so abolishing same-sex marriage is essential. Genuine social justice must be rooted in the truths of human nature, including that men and women are not interchangeable.”

this began the whole denigration of what it means to be a man or a woman. “birthing people” replaced MOTHER–sperm donor replaced FATHER as if the act itself did not consummate a union of a man and a woman. anyone can sleep with anyone is a degradation of love itself. imo

“In Padilla’s Presser Performance, Thom Tillis Plays The Role Of Democrats’ Useful Idiot — In exactly what world is Tillis living in where Noem’s security is to blame for Padilla’s press conference charade?”
The Federalist, By: Shawn Fleetwood, June 19, 2025
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “During his time on Capitol Hill, Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., has garnered a reputation for helping Democrats advance their preferred narratives and policies. So, it wasn’t exactly shocking when the Tarheel State’s senior senator gifted his leftist colleagues a talking point to defend the childish antics of Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif.
Speaking on the Senate floor Wednesday, Tillis mentioned last week’s incident involving Padilla, in which the California Democrat is shown abruptly rushing towards Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during the latter’s press conference. As The Federalist’s Eddie Scarry reported, Padilla did not announce himself until after being intercepted by security, who subsequently escorted him from the room and “forced [him] to the ground where he was handcuffed.”
In his remarks, Tillis said he considers Padilla to be “a friend,” and that “his emotions were at a 10 because some of the things that he’s seen occurring in terms of ICE detention, ICE raids.” The North Carolina Republican added that he “agrees and disagrees” with his Democrat colleague “on some of the policy,” but did not offer specifics. He then gently criticized Padilla’s actions.
“We’ve got to get to a point where elected officials have to take some responsibility for their actions,” Tillis said. “I wonder if we’re actually saying it’s OK for me to run out here and interrupt Sen. Schumer while he’s giving his opening statements to a presser to ask him a question. … I think that that’s inappropriate. I think it would be inappropriate to do it to my Democrat colleagues up in the press room …”
But Tillis wasn’t done. In a sheer act of stupidity, the Tarheel State senator had the gall to blame “both sides” for the incident, claiming they both “own some responsibility for what happened.”
“Sen. Padilla should have found a better way to elevate his concerns to the secretary of homeland security rather than going in there and having that dust-up. Having said that, there were clearly people in that building that knew he was a U.S. senator,” Tillis said. “So, the minute that he was removed from that situation in that briefing room, then they should have treated him with respect and allowed him to disperse. It was disgusting to me to see somebody wrestled to the floor, anybody, but particularly a U.S. senator that’s in a federal building.”
“If you want to make a difference, then come to the Senate floor and try to figure out how to get your policies through. That’s how this place should work,” he added.
Sorry, but in exactly what world is Tillis living in where Noem’s security team is to blame for this charade?
It was Padilla who made the dumb decision to aggressively approach a cabinet member unannounced — and during a time of leftist-led assassination attempts, threats, and violence, no less. Noem’s security guards were simply doing the job they were hired to do and reacted accordingly.
And exactly how were these officers supposed to know who Padilla was prior to detaining him? There are more than 500 members of Congress, and Tillis seems to assume Noem’s security should be required to know what each of them looks like or blindly trust anyone vouching for their identities.
Even if Padilla had declared he was a senator prior to interrupting Noem, there’s no way for her security to definitively know whether he’s telling the truth. In the heat of the moment, all they see is a loud, angry man making his way toward the woman they were assigned to protect.
But none of these points appear to matter to Tillis. The GOP senator seems perfectly content with portraying Democrats’ useful idiot in their latest fake production. And much to the disappointment of viewers at home, it’s a role he’s played many times before.”

“Zero Border crossings for the month for TRUMP, verses 60,000 for Sleepy, Crooked Joe Biden, a man who lost the 2020 Presidential Election by a ‘LANDSLIDE!'” he posted on Truth Social.
“Biden was grossly incompetent, and the 2020 election was a total FRAUD! The evidence is MASSIVE and OVERWHELMING. A Special Prosecutor must be appointed. What this Crooked man, and his CORRUPT CRONIES, have done to our Country in 4 years, is grossly indescribable! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump’s call for a special prosecutor comes in the wake of reports from the FBI that China had conspired to mass-produce fake driver’s licenses to carry out a massive fake ballot scheme in the 2020 election.
Officials told Just the News that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had captured nearly 20,000 fake driver’s licenses in July 2020. Those revelations have called into question the assertions from former FBI Director Christopher Wray that he knew of no foreign interference plots ahead of the election.
They have further reignited Trump’s own claims of large-scale election fraud in 2020 that he has said affected the results.”

Turmeric and black cumin seed are listed on the FLCCC website as nutritional support for Covid. They can be ordered online. I read a study which included an Indian patient who was seriously ill with Covid and received only these as treatment and got well. Turmeric is a potent anti-inflammatory. We used a so-called “golden milk” mix (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, bit of brown sugar) together with milk/oat milk in a shaker=turmeric “latte”. Takes some getting used to but not that bad.
Also, garlic can be used as an antibiotic. Try 1/2-1 teaspoon minced garlic with a swallow of milk several times a day.
Just thinking that you may have some of these things at home and they shouldn’t react with any meds as far as I know, so a possibility while you are making a doctor’s appointment and looking for other things as well.
Praying!

Just The News: “Trump administration senior advisor Kari Lake on Friday announced mass layoffs at the U.S. Agency for Global Media, affecting hundreds of employees.
“USAGM now operates near the statutory minimum; lean and focused. This is a clear example of responsible government—cutting waste, restoring accountability, and delivering on the promise to put American taxpayers first,” Lake said.
“Today, we took decisive action to effectuate President Trump’s agenda to shrink the out-of-control federal bureaucracy,” she added. Lake indicated that USAGM had sent 639 notices to employees, bringing the total workforce reduced to 1,400 since March, marking an 85% drop in staff.
She further indicated that USAGM, Voice of America, and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting now employ a total of 250 people.
The reduction in force comes amid mounting scrutiny over the federal government’s role in media, leading to efforts to eliminate federal funding for public outlets perceived as biased, such as NPR and PBS.”

“SAN DIEGO
— U.S. Border Patrol agents found a drug smuggling tunnel
linking San Diego and Tijuana
in early April, the agency said in a press release on Wednesday.
The incomplete tunnel, which extended more than 1,000 feet inside the U.S., was actively under construction
when Border Patrol agents with the San Diego Sector Tunnel Team uncovered it.
According to the release, the tunnel ran under a portion of Otay Mesa Port of Entry with an exit point near or within a nearby commercial warehouse space, based on preliminary indications.”

“Advantages for Russia & China if There is a Delayed Decision by the United States — Today’s SITREP”
Michael T. Flynn LTG USA (RET), Jun 20, 2025
“What are the advantages for Russia & China if there is a delayed decision by the United States?
SITREP FOLLOWS:
First, I have no definitive evidence confirming specific actions by Russia or China during this upcoming period. This analysis is based on personal experience. However, there is clear evidence of previous and long-term support by both nations for the Iranian regime. In war, delays usually advantage the defender and allow time to improve their position (tactical and strategic).
Russia’s Strategic Benefits:
1. The primary advantage to a delay provides a great distraction and diverts American attention and resources from the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
2. By Trump canceling a meeting with Zelensky to focus on the Middle East, Russia may face less U.S. pressure on its actions in Ukraine.
3. Russia will use this time to strategically consolidate, gain political and diplomatic capital by acting as an international broker through organizations like the UN.
4. Tactically, this period allows Russian military forces to consolidate, reorganize, refit and, if necessary, be replaced. Essentially, Russian military commanders, if smart (which they are), will consolidate and reposition their forces to gain positional advantage.
5. Russia could use the delay to bolster Iran’s air defenses, potentially supplying advanced systems like the S-400 or other military support. Doing so would enhance Iran’s resilience against Israel or potential U.S. strikes, aligning with Russia’s interest in maintaining Iran as a key ally. This action is not out of the question. If the U.S. can provide for one side, we must consider the fact that Russia will provide for the other.
6. The conflict has driven a 15% increase in Russian oil prices, benefiting Russia’s economy, which relies heavily on energy exports. Guarantee, a prolonged delay only helps Russia’s economy and keeps Middle East tensions high further disrupting global oil markets.
China’s Strategic Benefits:
1. China clearly sees this as a major opportunity for them to gain vastly more regional influence. China will use this window to expand diplomatic, economic, and military options across the Middle East. Like it or not, they already have far more influence than we truly understand.
2. China will position themselves as a neutral or mediating party (they are anything but).
3. China will strengthen ties with Iran and other regional players, countering U.S. dominance in the region. Everyone needs to understand the “region” is really the “trans-region”, and we must take into account the Central Asian Republic nations as well East Africa and those nations bordering the Eastern Med. For instance, the Red Sea and the Suez Canal are vital supply lines and must remain open.
4. The war provides a major distraction for Taiwan and will reduce attention on the looming Indo-Pacific theater of war. They will view this as a strategic opening to advance their objectives regarding Taiwan. For instance, increasing military maneuvers or economic pressure, knowing there is less attention or less interference (a high pucker factor in the Indo-Pacific for sure).
5. Prolonged uncertainty in the Middle East could keep oil prices volatile, benefiting China’s strategic petroleum reserves or its energy negotiations with other suppliers. It would be very wise for America to fill up our strategic oil reserves now.
6. The CCP will capitalize on global market instability to strengthen their position in trade or investment deals.
Again, there is no direct evidence of Russia or China conducting any of the active measures I’m addressing, but trust, just as we have our situation room busy, Russia and China do as well.
Pray for President Trump. God knows we are experiencing historic times and our readiness as a nation is in a considerably different geo-strategic posture than it was at any other time in the last 100 years.”

Just The News: “A federal judge on Friday ordered U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to release Mahmoud Khalil, whom authorities arrested months ago as part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on antisemitism.
Khalil has been in custody since March 8, after helping to organize an anti-Israel protest at Columbia University in 2024. He is a green-card holder and lawful resident, though authorities have sought to deport him.
U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz ordered Khalil’s release on Friday, asserting there was evidence to justify Khalil’s assertion that “there is an effort to use the immigration charge here to punish the petitioner,” The Hill reported.
Farbiarz previously rejected the administration’s argument that he was undermining U.S. foreign policy.”

“After capturing Johnson, the Lakeland Police Department took to social media and wrote, “What Aaron didn’t know is— that we got their backs! When Aaron Johnson jumped on Facebook and challenged the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, bragging he couldn’t be caught despite having multiple felony warrants, our LPD officers said, ‘Challenge accepted. Today, that little game ended. Our officers and detectives tracked him down and personally delivered him to the Deputies at the Polk County Jail. Nice try, Aaron. Maybe next time… but probably not.’” Final score: PCSO – 1, FM – 0…”

“According to media reports, the bank teller, Heather Pankey, was arrested back in April in connection with her alleged scheme. She was working at the First National Bank of Commerce in Pocahontas, Arkansas, when the thefts happened.
Arrest documents state that Pankey’s alleged thefts were discovered March 20 after multiple customer accounts were flagged for fraudulent bank activity, according to KAIT.
“The initial red flag appeared when a transaction was initiated on a deceased customer’s account and failed to post,” the arrest affidavit said.
According to investigators, the transaction was initiated by someone using employee log-in credentials and matched those assigned to Pankey. Pankey is being held in the Randolph County Detention Center on suspicion of theft of property, forgery, financial identify fraud, and computer fraud.”

Just The News: “The Treasury Department on Friday announced a new wave of sanctions against eight entities and one individual that were responsible for procuring machinery for Iran’s military, as it engages in conflict with Israel.
The move is meant to weaken Iran’s military amid the conflict, and comes as countries warn Iran is close to developing a nuclear weapon after it increased its production of near weapons-grade uranium.
The department said the entities and individual were targeted “for their involvement in the procurement and transshipment of sensitive machinery for Iran’s defense industry.” One vessel used to transport sensitive technologies to Iran was also identified as blocked property.
“The United States remains resolved to disrupt any effort by Iran to procure the sensitive, dual-use technology, components, and machinery that underpin the regime’s ballistic missile, unmanned aerial vehicle, and asymmetric weapons programs. We have been clear: those who enable these schemes will be held accountable,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.
“Treasury will continue to degrade Iran’s ability to produce and proliferate these deadly weapons, which threaten regional stability and global security,” he added.
The new actions target:
Hong Kong-based Unico Shipping
Shun Kai Xing, a bulk carrier owned by Unico Shipping
Zhang Yanbang, shipmaster of the Shun Kai Xing
China-based Futech
Hong Kong-based Athena Shipping
Singapore-based V-Shipping
China-based Shenzhen Xinxin Shipping
Turkey-based Edis Dis Ticaret Limited Sirketi.
The sanctions mean that all property, and interests in the property, of the people and entities listed above that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons are blocked and need to be reported to the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.”
