What Shall We Bake Today?

Food 1 Minute

In honor of Easter coming up this month, I found a carrot shaped cake! 

Ingredients

Cake

1 box carrot cake mix with pudding in the mix

Water, oil and eggs called for on cake mix box

Green and orange gel food color

Frosting

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup butter, softened

2 to 3 teaspoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

4 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Spray 1 (9 x 5-inch) loaf pan with cooking spray. Line bottom of pan with parchment paper. Place paper baking cup in each of 9 regular-size muffin cups.

Make cake mix as directed on box using water, oil and eggs. Pour 2 1/2 cups of batter in loaf pan; pour remaining batter evenly into muffin cups. Bake loaf 40 minutes; bake cupcakes 20 minutes. Cool loaf in pan 5 minutes; remove cake from loaf pan and cupcakes to cooling racks. Cool cupcakes and loaf completely, about 1 hour.

Using long serrated knife, trim triangle-shaped piece from corners of one end of loaf; reserve pieces. With knife, round corners of other short end of loaf.

For the frosting: in large bowl, beat cream cheese, butter, milk and vanilla with electric mixer on low speed until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, on low speed until frosting is smooth and spreadable. In small bowl, mix 1/2 cup frosting with green color until desired color. In large bowl, mix remaining frosting and orange color until desired color.

Bring reserved cut edges together at the bottom of cake to form carrot tip. Hold together with some of the orange frosting. Use remaining orange frosting to frost carrot. Use green frosting to make the carrot top. Use remaining orange and green frosting to create carrots and carrot tops on cupcakes. Serve cupcakes with cake.

Pat’s Note: Although this recipe uses a carrot cake mix, I have substituted my own homemade carrot cake recipe and it turned out just fine, so the choice is yours.

      1. Morning, Pat! In the early 90’s, my daughter got an in-school suspension after she fought back against a girl who had pulled her to the ground by her hair in the school hallway in Manassas! She actually liked in-school suspension since she could study in peace and quiet but they weren’t going to let her go to the spring dance.

    I have discovered another shocking conflict of interest involving Judge James Boasberg, who recently threatened to hold Trump administration officials in contempt for failing to provide flight information related to the deportation of illegal Venezuelan gang members belonging to the notorious Tren de Aragua gang. The judge’s brother, Tom Boasberg, a fluent Chinese speaker and former superintendent of Denver Public Schools (DPS) for a decade, hired illegal aliens on DACA to teach in Colorado schools during his tenure.

    A review of Tom Boasberg’s professional background reveals he was an associate at Covington & Burling. On February 25, 2025, President Donald J. Trump signed a memorandum to suspend security clearances for Covington & Burling LLP employees involved in the weaponization of government, pending a review of their roles and responsibility in the weaponization of the judicial process.

    Adding to the controversy, the US State Department @StateDept is currently promoting the Singapore American School, where Tom Boasberg now serves as superintendent, on its official website.     Meanwhile, Judge Boasberg’s brother’s actions in hiring undocumented immigrants to teach in Colorado schools, where the Tren de Aragua gang is now a significant concern, further raises more concerns over the conflict of interest.

    @marcorubio should conduct a review regarding why the US State Department is promoting a school led by Tom Boasberg, an “open borders leftist” who arguably endangered the lives of American children by employing illegal aliens.

    Judge Boasberg is very conflicted and is now threatening to hold members of the Trump admin in contempt because multiple members of his family are involved in supporting illegal aliens.

    Judge Boasberg needs to be IMPEACHED.

    If true, and there’s no reason to believe it isn’t, then Loomer may have handed the Trump administration all the ammo it needs to expose Judge Boasberg and advance their America First agenda.

And the times when the congressman filed articles of impeachment against Trump during his first term in the White House likewise, went nowhere. What a clown.

    The White House has already responded to this latest threat, via an email to The Hill. Assistant Press Secretary, Liz Huston, said the president’s “position is clear: he will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries.”

    She continued, “Meanwhile, the Democrats’ stance is giving Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare benefits to illegal aliens, which will bankrupt these programs and crush American seniors.”

    It’s hard not to notice how the statement completely brushed aside what Green said, which is exactly the level of seriousness anyone should show the nonsensical ramblings of leftists.

    “At Least 16 Dead as Storms, Flooding Race From Texas to Ohio”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Torrential rain and flash flooding combined Saturday to devastate large parts of the South and Midwest already heavily waterlogged by days of severe storms that also delivered deadly tornadoes alongside widespread power outages.

    As of Saturday afternoon, more than 162,000 people were already without power in Arkansas, Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky had already declared states of emergency earlier in the week. In the next few weeks, runoff from the extreme rainfall will result in moderate to major flooding on the secondary and largest rivers in the impacted regions.

    AP reports overnight into Sunday morning there were new tornado warnings issued in Alabama and Mississippi, along with flash flood warnings in several counties in Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee.

    Arkansas has also been hit by flooding right across the state. Day after day of heavy rains have pounded the central U.S., rapidly swelling waterways and prompting a series of flash flood emergencies in from Texas to Ohio.

    The National Weather Service said dozens of locations in multiple states were expected to reach what the agency calls “major flood stage,” with extensive flooding of structures, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure possible.

    At least 16 weather-related deaths have been reported since the start of the storms, including 10 in Tennessee.

    On Sunday at 2:53 a.m. the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado watch in effect until 10 a.m. for Choctaw, Clarke, Monroe, Washington and Wilcox counties. Forecasters at the NWS said to expect “potentially historic” rainfall and wide temperature swings from the central U.S. to the East Coast heading into Monday.”

Breitbart: “President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will sit down for more talks Monday in what will be be their second White House head-to-head since Trump’s return to office. The leaders are expected to discuss issues including tariffs, Gaza and the looming Iranian threat.

    AP reports the visit, confirmed by a White House official and Netanyahu’s office Saturday, comes as Israel deploys troops in a new security corridor across Gaza to pressure the Hamas terrorist  group.

    Israel has pledged to escalate the war in Gaza until Hamas returns the remaining hostages seized in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack that sparked the war, disarms and leaves the territory. Israel also has halted all supplies of food, fuel and humanitarian aid into Gaza as it pressures the terrorist group and its supporters.

    Netanyahu’s office in a statement on social media said he and Trump would discuss “the tariff issue, the efforts to return our hostages, Israel-Turkey relations, the Iranian threat and the battle against the International Criminal Court.”

    Israel faces a 17 percent tariff imposition. Tariff talks would make Netanyahu the first foreign leader to travel to Washington in an attempt to negotiate a better deal with Trump.

    In February, Netanyahu became the first foreign leader invited to the White House during Trump’s second term. That initial meeting focused on Israel’s war with Hamas and the next steps as a ceasefire deal took hold.

    The U.S. is Israel’s closest ally and largest single trading partner. The two countries signed a free trade agreement 40 years ago and about 98 percent of goods from the U.S. are now tax-free.”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The Trump administration has raised logging quotas 25% in America’s national forests as part of a bid to increase timber production in the face of tariffs — and to prevent fires by removing fuel and creating firebreaks.

    The San Francisco Chronicle reported:

    In a move that could substantially reshape California’s natural landscape, the U.S. Department of Agriculture issued an emergency order Friday to accelerate timber harvesting across nearly 113 million acres of national forests.

    The directive, announced by USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, mandates a 25% increase in timber quotas nationwide, with particular focus on areas of California, including the Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Los Padres and Cleveland national forests.

    The order is part of a broader initiative to address what the Trump administration has called a “forest health crisis.”

    The new order serves two purposes. One is to control fires. President Donald Trump said in January that the Los Angeles wildfires were partly caused by California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s refusal to clear brush and dead trees.

    The other purpose, though unstated, is likely to increase the supply of lumber and head off potential price increases due to tariffs on Canadian lumber, which could have a cascading effect on the American construction industry. Environmental groups slammed the move, while the logging industry welcomed the Trump administration’s decision.”
