Andrew Jackson

Today is Andrew Jackson’s birthday and I found this wonderful article on him, on the funwithhistory.com website.

13 Facts About Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, is a figure of both admiration and controversy in American history. Born into humble beginnings in the Carolinas, he rose to prominence through his military heroics during the War of 1812 and later became known as “Old Hickory” for his unyielding character. Jackson’s presidency, marked by confrontations like the Nullification Crisis and the Indian Removal Act, left a lasting impact on the nation. In this exploration of Andrew Jackson’s life and legacy, we delve into some key facts that illuminate his journey from orphaned youth to one of the most influential figures in American history.

Andrew Jackson Facts

1 Born in the Carolinas in 1767

Andrew Jackson’s exact birthplace is disputed, but it is generally believed that he was born in the Waxhaws region, which straddled the border of North and South Carolina. This region was a rural and frontier area during the 18th century, and Jackson’s humble beginnings shaped his character and worldview.

2 Orphaned at a young age

Jackson faced considerable adversity in his early life. His father, Andrew Jackson Sr., died in a logging accident just a few days before Andrew’s birth. Tragically, his mother, Elizabeth Jackson, died of cholera when he was only 14 years old. This left him an orphan, and he and his older brother, Robert, had to fend for themselves. These early hardships instilled in Jackson a strong sense of self-reliance and resilience that would define his life.

3 Self-taught lawyer

Despite having limited access to formal education, Jackson was a determined and self-motivated individual. He worked as a saddle maker, schoolteacher, and even a law clerk before teaching himself the law. He eventually moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1788 and established a successful law practice. His legal career played a crucial role in his rise to prominence in Tennessee and his later entry into politics. Jackson’s success as a lawyer showcased his intelligence and determination, which would serve him well in his future endeavors, including his military and political career.

4 Military hero during the War of 1812

Andrew Jackson gained national prominence for his military leadership during the War of 1812. He was appointed as a major general in the United States Army and commanded American forces in the Southern theater of the war. His most famous victory came in the Battle of New Orleans in 1815, where he successfully defended the city against British forces. This victory made him a national hero and propelled him into the political spotlight.

5 Nicknamed “Old Hickory”

He earned the nickname “Old Hickory” due to his tough and resilient personality. It was given to him by his soldiers during his military campaigns, reflecting his unyielding and often stern demeanor. Jackson was known for his strong will and determination, and this nickname stuck with him throughout his life.

6 Seventh President of the United States

He was elected as the seventh President of the United States and served two terms from 1829 to 1837. He was the first president to hail from west of the Appalachian Mountains, symbolizing a shift in political power away from the Eastern elite. Jackson’s presidency is often associated with the rise of Jacksonian democracy, characterized by an emphasis on the common man’s role in government. However, it was also marked by controversy, including his confrontations with the Second Bank of the United States and the Indian Removal policy.

7 Faced the Nullification Crisis

During Andrew Jackson’s presidency, the Nullification Crisis emerged as a major challenge. It revolved around the issue of tariffs imposed by the federal government, which disproportionately affected Southern states, particularly South Carolina. In 1832, South Carolina declared that it had the right to nullify or reject federal laws within its borders, including the tariffs. Jackson vehemently opposed this assertion of state sovereignty and believed it could lead to the dissolution of the Union. He responded with the Nullification Proclamation and the Force Bill, which authorized the use of military force to enforce federal laws in South Carolina. Ultimately, a compromise was reached, and the crisis was defused, but it highlighted the tension between states’ rights and federal authority.

8 Signed the Indian Removal Act

In 1830, Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act into law, which provided for the forced removal of Native American tribes from their ancestral lands in the Southeastern United States to lands west of the Mississippi River. This policy resulted in the tragic Trail of Tears, during which thousands of Native Americans, primarily from the Cherokee Nation, died due to exposure, disease, and starvation during their forced relocation. Jackson’s support for this policy remains a deeply controversial and dark chapter in American history.

9 Opposed the Second Bank of the United States

Andrew Jackson was a vocal opponent of the Second Bank of the United States, viewing it as a symbol of corruption and elitism. He believed the bank had too much power and favored the wealthy over the common people. In 1832, Jackson vetoed the recharter of the bank, effectively causing its demise. This decision had a profound impact on American financial policy, leading to a period of economic instability known as the “Bank War.”

10 Survived an assassination attempt

In January 1835, while Jackson was President, he survived an assassination attempt. A disturbed house painter named Richard Lawrence approached Jackson with two pistols and attempted to shoot him. Both pistols misfired, and Jackson, known for his physical toughness, proceeded to physically attack Lawrence with his cane. The attempt on his life cemented Jackson’s image as a strong and resilient leader, and he remained unharmed.

11 Engaged in several duels

Andrew Jackson was involved in several duels during his lifetime, reflecting the dueling culture of the time. Notable among these was his duel with Charles Dickinson in 1806. The dispute arose over insults exchanged between Jackson and Dickinson. During the duel, Dickinson fired the first shot, which struck Jackson in the chest, near his heart. Jackson, despite being wounded, managed to stay standing and calmly took aim at Dickinson, firing and fatally wounding him. The bullet that struck Jackson remained lodged in his chest for the rest of his life, causing him occasional pain. Jackson’s willingness to participate in duels was emblematic of his fiery temperament and his strong sense of personal honor.

12 Controversial marriage to Rachel Donelson Robards

Andrew Jackson’s marriage to Rachel Donelson Robards was a subject of controversy during his political career. Rachel had been previously married to Lewis Robards, but they had separated before her relationship with Jackson began. However, due to a legal technicality, their divorce was not finalized when Jackson and Rachel married in 1791. This led to accusations of adultery and social ostracism against Rachel. The controversy surrounding their marriage was used against Jackson in political campaigns, and it caused him considerable personal anguish.

13 Legacy includes populism and the forced removal of Native Americans

Andrew Jackson’s legacy is complex and polarizing. He is often remembered as a champion of the common people and a symbol of Jacksonian democracy, which emphasized increased political participation for white males without property qualifications. However, his legacy is also marked by controversy and criticism. His role in the forced removal of Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee on the Trail of Tears, is widely condemned as a tragic and inhumane chapter in American history. Additionally, his opposition to the National Bank and his assertion of executive power contributed to political division during his presidency. Jackson’s strong-willed personality and his impact on American politics and government continue to be subjects of debate among historians and scholars.

  1. Morning All!
it’s about 30* and still dark outside so i have no clue what kind of weather we’re going to have. We’re gonna try to get out to get the mail today and some thing from the little market in town.
hubby says the driveway is clear, but the area in front of the garage door gets very limited sun and still has some ice, but we’re gonna try to get the truck out and run it some.

    1. Good morning! Drive carefully! Temp here is 30, too! The wind didn’t stop until a couple of hours ago – that was some of the strongest wind I’ve seen here. Thankfully, no damage (except for the one screen) and only a trace of snow! And guess who was waiting on the patio when I opened the blind? Yep, Wheezer’s back! He allowed me to pet him a couple of times before chowing down and he is now curled up on the chair. I sure wish I knew where he was going when he leaves here. Maybe one day when it’s warmer, I’ll try following him.

  3. I’m bringing the entire article because it is just so galling! how many Americans made $80,000 a year? and AOC KNEW he was an illegal. His “non profit” obtained $15,000 checks to undocumented workers in the pandemic–how much did citizens get?
    article

    Illegals Working for Congress?
    By M. Walter

In a sympathetic article titled “AOC Campaign Aide Self-Deports to Colombia,” interviewed Diego De La Vega, a thirty-one-year-old illegal alien (with an illegal alien wife). He complains that he spent twenty-three years “in the shadows” but, notably, felt emboldened enough to accept an invitation to see President Trump deliver the 2018 SOTU (State of the Union) as a guest of (now former) Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY). The article even features a nice picture of him in the gallery.

The article tells us he’d been here in America since the age of seven when his parents let him overstay his visa. That was, as a minor, obviously not his choice. However, every day since he was eighteen he made a choice to remain illegally, until Obama’s DACA, which conferred quasi-“legal” status upon him. His wife, however, did not avail herself of the DACA program (for reasons unstated in the article). Though he and his wife have now left the country, there are lingering questions about the propriety, if not the legality, of his job for a sitting congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

It was his work for the non-profit Make the Road NY which got the congresswoman’s attention. Make the Road NY is devoted to aiding and abetting illegal immigration, and De la Vega was very, very good at his job. He says matter-of-factly and with a sense of absolute entitlement, that he “became politically active (and) he helped secure a $2.1 billion fund (yes, billion with a “b”) that provided $15,000 relief checks to undocumented workers excluded from federal pandemic aid.”

    That’s some serious scratch.

Pandemic relief checks to Americans were quite literally a fraction of that. Yes, it appears to have come from New York State’s budget, but we all know how this works: states fund illegals then go straight to the federal government for reimbursement, so any reasonable person from the other forty-nine states could easily conclude it wasn’t New York’s largesse; it was ours… our money.

(And amazingly, the second they ran out of it, they went right back to the State to ask for three billion more! Given that Make the Road NY spends fully half of its roughly thirty million dollar a year budget on salary for it’s own staff, brazen is the order of the day for these “do-gooders.”)

The article goes on to say that “his work did not go unnoticed. Within a year, he was hired by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s reelection campaign…”

Oh, I’m sure she “noticed.” Two billion dollars has a way of attracting attention.

But back to the question at hand: what, pray tell, is an illegal doing working for a sitting congressperson?

“‘Diego is amazing,’ said AOC on Wednesday in a brief hallway interview, adding: ‘We love him.’ However, De La Vega’s aspirations to work on Capitol Hill were stymied by House rules barring DACA recipients from serving as aides in Congress.”

Note that the article states De La Vega was hired for AOC’s reelection campaign. She was a sitting congressperson at the time of his hiring. So… DACA-recipients are prohibited from working for congresspeople on Capitol Hill, but not from working for a sitting congressperson as long as it’s outside the Capitol Complex? Okay…

“Deputy communications director” was De La Vega’s official job title for AOC’s reelection campaign for which he reportedly made $80,000/yr — which means he had to have given his legal ID to her payroll administrator to get his salary. From what this writer has been able to ascertain, DACA-conferred identification (driver’s licenses, passports) are indistinguishable from those given to native-born Americans so it appears to be somewhat of an honor system. No one would know he wasn’t native born unless he told them. We don’t know the backstory as to why he never went to work for her on the Hill. One presumes it’s because it was just too flagrantly illegal, not that that stops most of these cretins but at least here, it appears to be the case.

Still, the potential for illegality just rolls like a river here. Quite apart from the troubling matter of him (likely) still having his DACA-conferred Social Security card (Obama was handing out Social Security cards like candy) and his (presumably) DACA-conferred American passport sitting in a sock drawer somewhere in Bogota (imagine the black market value of that down there), then there’s the matter of De la Vega harboring an illegal. He harbored one here (his wife) and AOC harbored him!

How is any of this in any way legal?

DACA was 100% done by fiat, and though its veneer is to confer “legal” status upon recipients, there is still no actual law behind it. A very good argument could — and should — be made that multiple laws were broken here.

Our elected leaders should be held to a higher standard, not lower. We don’t have teams of aides, assistants, lawyers, staff, etc. to advise us on our every move. These people do, and if they aid or abet illegal immigration then they should be made an example of. If they can lawfare thirty-four felonies on Trump out of nothing, surely we can make a righteous use of black letter law to hold those who ask for our trust to a trustworthy standard.

The same kind of thinking seems to have involved the $1 billion building lease revelations, too — which is a doozy of a story. The USAGM and Voice of America already have a huge building, all paid off. The new one doesn’t even have television studios, a bizarre thing for a broadcast news agency not to have. The need for more office space is nil with tens of thousands of government workers working from home, the job now being to bring them back to the office in the largely empty building. Someone at that agency needed to lease another building?

It stinks of payoff, same as the news agency “cost-cutting” mega-contracts that replaced the reporters.

Here is one theory of what might have gone down:

The real scandal is that the developer built that building with a guarantee by the federal government for the lease.

I’d venture a bet that they used the future lease as proof of income to take out the loan.

  5. Just The News: “A three-member federal court of appeals on Friday night allowed two of President Donald Trump’s executive actions targeting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies in the federal government to go into effect.

The panel lifted a lower court’s injunction that blocked the two executive orders, which allowed the actions to take effect while further litigation over the issue is still ongoing, according to Politico.

The orders directed federal agencies and government contractors to eliminate diversity programs, and instructed the Justice Department and other agencies to identify businesses, schools and nonprofits that may be discriminating via DEI.

The higher court, which consisted of two Democratically appointed judges, said that the Trump administration was likely to win its argument that the directives, including an order urging the Department of Justice to investigate companies with DEI policies, were constitutional, Reuters reported.

The Democratically appointed judges stated that they did not agree with the substance of the order, and that diversity programs deserved praise. But the third judge, a Trump appointee, said those arguments were irrelevant to the case.

“A judge’s opinion that DEI programs ‘deserve praise, not opprobrium’ should play absolutely no part in deciding this case,” Circuit Judge Allison Rushing wrote.

The White House and Justice Department have not commented on the ruling so far.”

  6. EXCERPT: “Gender ideology is unraveling. It’s fraud all the way down. There is no good evidence that “transitioning” helps anyone, especially children. And people are realizing that the entire premise — that a boy can somehow be born into a female body, or vice versa — is superstitious nonsense. Indeed, transgender ideology is so insane that the coalition against it ranges from conservative Christians to lesbian feminists.

Transgender ideology has many enemies, but the most effective are those who have been victimized by wrongly named “gender-affirming care,” especially the detransitioners who have realized that so-called transition is a pursuit of the impossible, driven by lies. The power of their testimony was displayed during the recent Detrans Awareness Day, which was organized by Genspect and hosted at the U.S. Capitol on March 12. There were interviews and meetings with administration officials and members of Congress. The public centerpiece was an outstanding series of panel discussions involving activists, doctors, policy experts, and especially detransitioners.

The first panel included Dr. Eithan Haim, the whistleblower whom the Biden administration persecuted after he exposed the continued medical “transition” of children in Texas. He warned that transgender programs resist being shut down and explained how doctors may be committing fraud to keep performing trans experiments on children. Put simply, they may deliberately use the wrong billing codes to hide what they are doing.

For example, if a girl claims to be transgender, a doctor might change her chart to show her as male, which is easily done in the Epic medical records system, and then “diagnose” her with testosterone deficiency. The doctor could then prescribe testosterone for her and get either private insurance or the government to pay for it without them knowing it was to “transition” a child. Leftist groups are promoting this scheme, publishing literal guides to committing insurance fraud…..”

    1. Ah-ha! The Kennedy part of her name got me wondering so I went looking. I still don’t know if there is any connection to “the” Kennedy family but I did run across this. I think it’s pretty clear that no medical license should be given to someone who is gay!!! It is a MENTAL problem!!!

One of the doctors pushing for trans medical treatment:

EXCERPT: “…..In a presentation to parents in 2017, Olson-Kennedy suggested that the gap between what the dysphoric patient wants (immediate GAT) and what his or her parents want (delay, with psychotherapy) should always be bridged in favor of the child’s desires:

[When] the parent desperately wants you, the provider, to close that gap by pushing their kid backwards . . . you as a professional know you have to close that gap by pushing them forward and keeping them. You want to keep them because you want them to give consent and be supportive.

Olson-Kennedy carries out her mission in tandem with her transgender spouse, licensed clinical social worker Aydin Olson-Kennedy (a woman living as a man). Aydin’s function seems to be primarily to act as a liaison between her gender-confused clients and the medical clinics (including Olson-Kennedy’s) that will take it from there…..”

  7. EXCERPT: “Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a complete overhaul of a Pentagon think tank that infamously gifted lucrative contracts to a key player in the Russia collusion hoax, the Defense Department revealed on Thursday.

“As part of the Department’s ongoing commitment to strengthening our national defense, the Secretary of Defense has directed the disestablishment of the Office of Net Assessment (ONA) and the development of a plan to rebuild it in alignment with the Department’s strategic priorities,” Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement. “This decision ensures that our resources are focused on the most pressing national security challenges while maintaining accountability and efficiency.”

According to the Pentagon’s website, ONA was established in 1973 to provide top-ranking defense officials with “long-term comparative assessments” of risks, trends, and opportunities regarding U.S. military-related endeavors. In recent years, this has included producing internal studies “represent[ing] years of detailed analysis” of these issues, which “provide strategic-level management insights for the Secretary of Defense and other senior DOD leaders.”

In his Thursday memo, which was obtained by Breaking Defense, Hegseth reportedly instructed the Defense Department’s Performance Improvement officer and director of Administration and Management “to reassign all civilian employees to other ‘mission critical positions’ inside the department, while military personnel will return to their service to receive new billets.” The agency’s chief acquisition official is also instructed to “‘ensure that the necessary steps are taken’ by department contracting authorities to terminate ‘all ONA contracts awarded for ONA and ONA-related requirements,’” the outlet reported.

While Democrats such as Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., have already begun attacking the administration’s overhaul of ONA, such criticisms have (unsurprisingly) neglected to mention the office’s past financial ties to famed Russia collusion hoaxer Stefan Halper…..”

  8. “Key Pro-Life Organizations Demand Republicans Repeal Weaponized FACE Act ‘As Soon As Possible’”

The Federalist, Jordan Boyd, March 14, 2025

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “A coalition of notable pro-life organizations is asking the Republicans who control the House Judiciary Committee to advance legislation repealing the law the Biden administration weaponized to throw peaceful pro-lifers in prison.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Family Research Council, Students For Life Action, The Thomas More Society, and more advocates against ending life in the womb joined Advancing American Freedom to demand an immediate end to the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.

The signees expressed optimism about President Donald Trump’s “decisive action” to pardon dozens of pro-lifers who were victims of the Biden regime’s lopsided lawfare, but noted that it’s not enough to prevent weaponization from happening again.

“Thankfully, in addition to pardoning the pro-life prisoners, the Trump Administration has taken extensive executive action to prevent the FACE Act from being weaponized against either pro-life or pro-abortion activists for the remainder of his term. For this we are grateful,” the letter states. “However, to prevent any future pro-abortion administrations from weaponizing the FACE Act against pro-life Americans, Congress must repeal the FACE Act in its entirety.”

Until the FACE Act is repealed, the letter warns, pro-lifers’ “efforts to protect the most vulnerable in our society: unborn human beings” are vulnerable to the same “unjust targeting” demonstrated by the previous administration which included “early morning SWAT team raids, unjust prison sentences, and alleged mistreatment while in custody.”

Congress passed the FACE Act in 1994, but it was under President Joe Biden that the FBI and Department of Justice began arresting and sentencing dozens of law-abiding Americans for peacefully protesting abortion.

“Since its creation, 97 percent of all FACE Act cases have been brought against pro-life Americans,” the letter notes. Under the Biden regime, 55 of the 60 FACE Act cases zeroed in on Americans who prayed, sang, and evangelized at abortion facilities.

“In fact, the first time FACE Act charges were ever brought against a pro-abortion activist was only after Republicans took control of the House of Representatives and opened investigations into the Biden Administration’s political abuses of this unjust law,” the letter states.

Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas and 25 Republican cosponsors already introduced the legislation necessary to abolish the FACE Act. All the House Judiciary Committee has to do, the pro-life leaders urged, is mark it up “as soon as possible and pass the bill into law.”

  9. “‘History is always rewritten by the losers’: Gutfeld says Trump must remind media of their failed takedown”

TheDailyBS, Hailey Gomez, March 14, 2025

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Fox’s Greg Gutfeld told fellow panelist, former Democratic Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford Jr., on Friday evening that President Donald Trump and conservatives should remind legacy media of their faults.

Since Trump’s first administration, legacy media has maintained an anti-Trump bias in its coverage, with CNN and NBC producing more than 90% negative coverage of Trump’s first 100 days in office, according to a 2017 Harvard study. While discussing Trump’s recent remarks at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Ford told the panel he wished the president didn’t “make it so personal” after acknowledging the legal attacks against Trump from the former administration’s DOJ.

“I am so disgusted by what Harold said,” Gutfeld teased. “You know, this isn’t about winning, Harold. It’s about imprinting the memory of this event on history, because, as we know, history is always rewritten by the losers!”

“If you think media is fake, what do you think about the people? Where do you think the historians came from? They came from media. So we have to. No one else is going to do this. He has to do it. We have to do it,” Gutfeld said.

During his first administration, Trump called out legacy media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News as “fake news” due to their coverage of him. Within his first 100 days as president in 2017, a Harvard study said CNN and NBC gave Trump 93% negative coverage, while CBS gave him 91% negative coverage.

    https://rumble.com/v6qngqg-rewritten-by-the-losers-gutfeld-says-trump-must-remind-media-of-their-faile.html

In his third campaign run, Trump, in 2024, was charged by former President Joe Biden’s DOJ with over 80 criminal charges and three separate indictments, repeatedly calling out the charges against him. Within his address to his second administration’s DOJ Friday, Trump accused Biden of attempting to turn the agency into a “department of injustice,” declaring, “those days are over, and they are never going to come back.”

“What you don’t hear right now. What’s that silence? It’s all the people in the media who tried to take him out. They aren’t saying, ‘Oh, we were wrong. Oh, whoopsie daisy. Biden has dementia!’ They aren’t doing that. So we have to,” Gutfeld added. “They’ve disappeared. They’ve gone away.”

“How is this not a fable for the ages? An inspirational lesson to everyone who has felt targeted in their lives, who felt outgunned and outnumbered. If this were a Democrat, there would already be 12 movies made about this man, the most consequential political triumph in American history,” Gutfeld said.

Gutfeld went on to say that both Hollywood and the legacy media “are staying home in their pajamas [and] weeping” over Trump’s callouts. The Fox host added that it was not only necessary to repeatedly call out the media’s coverage of the president but said that if there was “justice,” they would be able to “parade every hack on TV.”

“They literally, literally, I don’t mean metaphorically, they have to eat their words. We actually take their words verbatim. We bake cookies, and we write their words on the cookies and then they have to sit down. It’s not even pay-per-view. It’s free. We just force them to eat their words, every single word,” Gutfeld said.”

  10. EXCERPT: “President Donald J. Trump seriously rattled cages during a Friday visit to the Justice Department where he assailed those who weaponized the law against him and put them on notice that the hour of their accountability is drawing near.

During his speech, the president blasted the corrupt media for its complicity in the Soviet-style lawfare, expressing his opinion that “they’re really corrupt and they’re illegal” and specifically mentioning CNN and “MSDNC” as chief purveyors of the big lies.

Judging by the hysterical reaction, Trump’s speech was enormously successful and one of the biggest endorsements came from CNN’s top legal eagle Elie Honig who whined to Anderson Cooper about what he called the “desecration” of the hallowed DOJ.

    (Video: CNN)

“You worked at the Department of Justice for many years, have you ever seen something like this?” Cooper asked during Friday’s edition of “AC360” on the ratings-challenged propaganda network.

“No, Anderson,” the former federal prosecutor responded. “What happened today, that speech was a desecration of the Justice Department, of the Great Hall of Justice, where it was given. AGs and occasionally, presidents of both parties have used that room for decades to address the rank and file like I once was, to call on the highest principles of DOJ.”

“The person who that building is named after is Robert F. Kennedy, senior, to be clear. And just to give a sense of the type of speech that ordinarily gets given by an AG to prosecutors, I pulled this. I just want to read real quick how RFK ended a speech he gave in 1962 when he was AG,” Honig added, gaslighting viewers that the RFK era Justice Department still exists instead of the Soviet-style entity under former Attorney General Merrick Garland who some have likened to Stalin’s notorious police state thug Lavrentiy Beria, who famously said “show me the man and I’ll find you the crime.”….”

  12. “WEAR News3 – After a lengthy battle with Walton County officials over pro-Donald Trump banners on his Seagrove Beach home, Marvin Peavy won in court last week. He began hanging the massive banners in the fall of 2021. They included pro-Trump messages and anti-Biden messages, while another stumped for failed Georgia senate candidate Herschel Walker.

A Walton County magistrate ordered them down, attaching daily fines of $50 for allegedly violating a scenic corridor code. However, Peavy appealed that order, claiming the county code violated his first amendment right. As of last Wednesday, the saga is over, as Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey Lewis ruled that no fines or liens shall be assessed, asserted, collected, or established against the property. The Tampa Bay Rays couldn’t draw flies if they served shit on a gilded plate. Average attendance at their home games is barely 12,000 per, about one-third as much as most other major league teams. Obviously Tampa ain’t a baseball town, right?

The team’s ownership was asking Tampa civic leaders for $ 1,600,000,000.00 (yes – 1.6 billion with a ‘B’) to build a new 30,000 seat stadium, and when the teams owners couldn’t come up with their part of the deal – a measly 700 mil – city leaders finally got a wiff of friggin’ reality and said saya-fuckin-nara to that scam. Good – it’s about friggin’ time tax-payers money stopped showering uber-rich jerkoffs with free money.”

    1. oh i agree, especially when the arenas turn around and raise ticket prices food prices, parking prices so ordinary folks don’t wanna go anymore. start with playing the players a decent BUT not astronomical amount to play to begin with.

      1. In many cases, it’s not a case of not wanting to go – for those prices, they simply can’t afford to go! Cut down ALL of the prices and things would probably change! It’s obscene what these football/basketball/baseball players make!!!

There have been 11 deaths alone reported in Missouri.

ATLANTA, March 15 (Reuters) – At least 13 people were killed in Arkansas and Missouri as a series of tornadoes hit the U.S. Midwest and Southeast overnight, raking a path of destruction that was still being assessed on Saturday, police said.

Twenty-six tornadoes were reported but not confirmed to have touched down late on Friday night and early on Saturday as a low-pressure system drove powerful thunderstorms across parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi and Missouri, said David Roth, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center.

“Today there is a high risk for more tornadoes across Alabama and Mississippi. The chance is 30%,” he said. “That’s pretty significant.”

Two of the tornado deaths occurred in southern Missouri in the Bakersfield area of Ozark County, about 270 miles (434 km) southeast of Kansas City, and a third death was reported in Butler County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other officials said. Seven others were killed in the storms, the Missouri Highway Patrol said on X, without giving details.

Three other deaths from the overnight storms occurred in Arkansas, the state’s Department of Emergency Management reported on its website, adding that there were 29 injuries.

As the storms regain strength, the highest possible risk of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms is on Saturday night, forecasters said. The storms will move east throughout Saturday and could hit as far east as the Florida Panhandle and Atlanta by midnight, according to the NWS.”

hubby emptied our ash can down the path in the woods where he always dumps it and told me there are several ash trees down along the path–one across the path but he found a way round it. this spring we’re going to aggressively go after the rest of the ash anywhere within a radius of the house.

Republicans are searching for ways to “pay for” their tax cuts. Democrats want the rich to pay more tax. Here’s a solution that should make everyone happy.
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith is suggesting a tax on the $840 billion college endowments. These endowments will soon eclipse $1 trillion in size — more money than the entire GDP of many countries.

JUST IN: Another activist judge has ruled that he is the actual President of the United States and not Donald Trump.

Chief U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg has blocked Trump’s plan to deport criminal illegal aliens under the Alien Enemies Act. This judicial activism poses a direct threat to national security and the lives of Americans.

The White House on Saturday announced that it was deporting criminal aliens belonging to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

“Tren de Aragua (TdA) is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization with thousands of members, many of whom have unlawfully infiltrated the United States and are conducting irregular warfare and undertaking hostile actions against the United States. TdA operates in conjunction with Cártel de los Soles, the Nicolas Maduro regime-sponsored, narco-terrorism enterprise based in Venezuela, and commits brutal crimes, including murders, kidnappings, extortions, and human, drug, and weapons trafficking.”

“TdA has engaged in and continues to engage in mass illegal migration to the United States to further its objectives of harming United States citizens, undermining public safety, and supporting the Maduro regime’s goal of destabilizing democratic nations in the Americas, including the United States.”

A judge just stopped Trump from deporting these murderers, drug dealers, and human traffickers.

This radical lawfare is not only out-of-control, it is going to get Americans k*lled.
