What Shall We Make Today?

Today’s offering is Chocolate Covered Strawberries!

Ingredients

10-ounce package Ghirardelli Baking Chips Bittersweet, semi-sweet, or milk chocolate

2 pounds fresh strawberries stems attached

Instructions

Start by washing the strawberries and then drying them VERY well. It’s so important to dry the strawberries well because, as you may know, chocolate and water do not work well together! If the strawberries are the least bit wet the chocolate will not stick!

If desired, add a handful of toppings, like crushed nuts or coconut, onto their own small plates. Line a sheet pan with parchment or waxed paper.

Use a double boiler or microwave the chocolate for 30 second intervals, removing and stirring at each 30 second interval, until the chocolate has melted. Stir often, making sure not to burn the chocolate!

Holding a strawberry by the stem, dip into melted chocolate, lift and twist slightly, letting the excess chocolate fall back into the bowl. At this point you may dip the strawberry in coconut or nuts (or leave it plain) and then place the strawberry on the parchment paper. Repeat with the rest of the strawberries.

For a white chocolate drizzled strawberry, dip a fork in the melted white chocolate and drizzle the white chocolate over the dipped strawberries.

Chill the strawberries until the chocolate sets, about 15 minutes.

ENJOY!

    1. Good morning, Pat and Filly,

We are going to have a dip in temp this week – rain this weekend – then back to the 30s after a warm week of highs in the 80s.

    Absolutely infuriating Palisades recovery story:

My friend’s mom’s house burned down. His insurer asks for a copy of the blueprints, to process the claim. The blueprints were in the house and they burned –but there’s a copy on file with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. LADBS requires a release letter from the architect to give him his blueprints, which my friend provides. Whole process takes a week. He goes to DBS to get his blueprints –but they won’t give them to him. Why? Because the architect signed the request paperwork on the wrong part of the page. LADBS says my friend needs to start the whole process over.

My friend objects. He says, “The instructions just said the architect needed to sign the page, and he did that.”

The LADBS clerk says, “But he signed over the seal. He’s supposed to sign next to the seal.”

My friend goes, “So? He signed it.”

The LADBS clerk says, “But he signed the wrong part of the page.”

My friend pleads, “you know my mom’s house burned down, and every day this gets delayed is another day she can’t get her claim processed.”

The LADBS clerk responds, “So what?”

Trump’s policy places a cap on ‘indirect’ research funding used to pay for energy bills, admin salaries, and, in one infamous case, a yacht”

Masked Harvard Medical School students / hms.harvard.edu

    Collin Anderson, February 12, 2025

EXCERPT: “Days after President Donald Trump’s National Institutes of Health moved to cap government funding for so-called indirect research costs—that is, money tacked on to a research grant that universities use to fund administrative salaries and other expenses—Harvard Medical School sent concerned students and faculty a message encouraging them to “take advantage” of the school’s “Countway Cuddles” pet therapy program.

Medical school dean George Daley sent the email to “Members of the HMS Quad Community” on Feb. 9 and forwarded it to the school’s alumni two days later, a copy of the message obtained by the Washington Free Beacon shows. In it, Daley cited Trump’s “recently issued NIH policy guidance announcing a cap on the funding of indirect costs on federal grants” and said he was “keenly aware of how much this uncertainty is weighing on all members of our research communities.”

Daley went on to encourage students, faculty members, and researchers to “take advantage of the well-being resources available to members of the Harvard community.” He linked to a page that touts Harvard-funded services like a “24/7 mental health support line” and the “Countway Cuddles pet therapy program,” which hosts “pet-therapy sessions” meant to “combat burnout, stress, and anxiety.” Attendees can “pet and play” with one of six “therapy animals”: “Sophie the Golden Retriever,” “Rudy the Golden Retriever,” “Sasha the Black Lab,” “Bodhi the Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever Mix,” “Bao the miniature Goldendoodle,” and “Hermie the therapy guinea pig.” The program’s website includes a guide on the “Right Way to Pet a Dog.”

“In these challenging times, I am feeling reassurance and comradeship from members of this community,” Daley concludes in his email. “I encourage you to share your thoughts with colleagues, with mentors, and with me.”….”

  4. EXCERPT: “As President Donald Trump unleashed a suite of executive orders targeting DEI, the University of Michigan School of Nursing began quietly revamping its website.

A “diversity” tab with links to DEI resources was removed from the homepage. Pages with “DEI” in the title were renamed and purged of the offending adjective, according to web archives reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon, while the main page for the school’s diversity office—which stated, “We are not excellent if we do not reflect diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of our community”—was taken down entirely.

In its place was a new page for “Community Culture,” which declares that “culture is at the heart of everything we do.” None of the revised pages use the terms “diversity” or “DEI.”

The changes seemed to indicate that Michigan was finally downsizing a bureaucracy that employs more than 200 officials and has cost the university nearly $250 million since 2016.

But Mark Perry, a retired professor of economics at the university’s Flint campus, decided to take a closer look.

It turns out the new pages link to the same DEI materials as the old ones, including a “DEI 2.0” strategic plan that is in effect through 2028. And lo and behold, the office of “Community Culture” employs all the same staff as the former diversity office.

The title of just one official, Patricia Coleman-Burns, has changed from “DEI Strategic Planning Co-Lead” to “Strategic Planning Co-Lead.” The new office’s description also uses many of the same buzzwords associated with DEI, albeit not the acronym itself…..”

  5. EXCERPT: “The Federal Communications Commission is investigating Comcast and its subsidiary NBCUniversal over whether its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs violate federal anti-discrimination laws.

In a letter to Comcast CEO Brian Roberts on Tuesday, FCC chairman Brendan Carr said there is “substantial evidence” that the media conglomerate is promoting DEI initiatives, a potential violation of FCC regulations and civil rights laws. Carr pointed to Comcast’s promotion of DEI as a “core value of our business” and said that NBCUniversal, which operates NBC News, MSNBC, and CNBC, has executives “specifically dedicated” to promoting DEI on its television programs.

“But promoting invidious forms of discrimination cannot be squared with any reasonable interpretation of federal law,” Carr warned. “It can only deprive Americans of their rights to fair and equal treatment under the law.”

Carr said he expects the investigation “will aid the Commission’s broader efforts to root out invidious forms of DEI discrimination across all of the sectors the FCC regulates.” The FCC chairman opened an investigation last week into whether NPR and PBS violated federal regulations that bar taxpayer-funded outlets from running commercials for corporate sponsors.

The Comcast probe comes as the media giant plans to spin off MSNBC and CNBC into a separate, publicly traded company. President Donald Trump has been a vocal critic of Comcast and NBC, vowing in 2023 that he would investigate the conglomerate over its “one-side[d] and vicious coverage.” Trump blasted MSNBC last month after the Washington Free Beacon reported that Kamala Harris’s campaign paid $500,000 to Al Sharpton’s nonprofit, the National Action Network, shortly before the activist interviewed Harris on his MSNBC show…..”

  6. White House Launches Official Channel on Rumble Platform

Rumble Inc. (NASDAQ: RUM), a $2.73 billion market cap video platform and cloud services provider, has announced the inauguration of an official White House channel by U.S. President Donald Trump. The new channel is part of the company’s expanding portfolio of content providers. The company’s stock has shown remarkable momentum, with a 118% price return over the past six months.

The development comes as Rumble continues to position itself as a growing force in the video platform space, aiming to provide an independent infrastructure that supports a free and open internet. The White House’s presence on Rumble signals a notable partnership for the company, potentially increasing its visibility and user base. – Investing.com

Our Take: In the White House briefing room on Monday, Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski was in the “new media seat,” and he was tossed the first question:

    (Video)

As for the White House being on Rumble, Pavlovski gave an update yesterday afternoon:

“According to StreamsCharts, YouTube peaked out at around 22,000 live viewers and Rumble peaked out at around 55,000 live viewers for todays White House Press Briefing with Karoline Leavitt. Great way to start.”

Great start, indeed.— Ashe in America

  7. Just The News: By Derek Draplin | The Center Square contributor

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “President Donald Trump has selected the head of a Denver-based oil and gas trade group to be the Bureau of Land Management’s next director. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Kathleen Sgamma would replace Tracy Stone-Manning as director of the agency tasked with managing natural resources, wildlife and recreation on 245 million acres of public land, mostly in Western states.

Sgamma told The Center Square she cannot comment on her nomination, but said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that she’s honored to serve and “help unleash American energy.”

The Colorado resident is currently head of the Western Energy Alliance, which represents oil and gas companies in nine states, and is headquartered in Denver. The group was part of a lawsuit last summer challenging the Biden administration’s changes to federal onshore oil and gas leasing rules. She said at the time the rule “prices small producers out of the market and off public lands,” The Center Square reported.

Sgamma’s nomination is the latest move by the White House to align federal agencies with the administration’s pledge to increase energy and natural resource development on public lands.

“I will declare a national energy emergency. We will drill, baby, drill,” Trump said during his Inauguration Day speech last month. “We will bring prices down, fill our strategic reserves up again right to the top, and export American energy all over the world. We will be a rich nation again, and it is that liquid gold under our feet that will help to do it.”

Western Energy Alliance also praised other Trump nominations for energy-related posts, including Doug Burgum for secretary of the Department of the Interior, which oversees the BLM, and Chris Wright as secretary of the Department of Energy. Wright is also from Colorado and was CEO of Liberty Energy, based in Denver.

Sgamma’s nomination is opposed by environmental advocacy groups like the Center for Western Priorities, based in Denver, which called her “an inappropriate choice.”

“This appointment will hand the keys to our public lands over to oil and gas companies,” the center said in a statement. “Sgamma will seek to lease every inch of our lands for drilling, no matter their recreational, scenic, ecological or cultural value. Her appointment is a direct threat to Western communities and wildlife that depend on healthy landscapes, clean air and clean water.”

U.S Rep. Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican who sits on the House Committee on Natural Resources, called Sgamma “a fantastic selection.”

“I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with her on several efforts to responsibly manage our lands while also allowing our oil & gas industry to thrive and bring back American energy dominance,” she said in a tweet. “This is a major win for Coloradans, and I look forward to supporting her and her team in any way possible.”

In Colorado, the BLM manages 8.3 million acres of land, as well as 27 million acres of federal mineral rights. According to the agency, activities on BLM-managed public lands accounted for $10.8 billion to the state’s economy in 2023.

The agency’s headquarters was moved from Washington, D.C., to Grand Junction under the first Trump administration, which argued it would save taxpayer dollars, but then moved back to D.C. after Biden took office.

Two other Coloradans served during Trump’s first administration: William Perry Pendley as acting BLM director and David Bernhardt as Interior secretary.

In other White House news Wednesday, Trump announced he is nominating Brian Nesvik of Wyoming as director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Nesvik was appointed by Republican Gov. Mark Gordon of Wyoming as director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department in 2019. Nesvik retired in 2024 after 30 years with the agency.”

  8. Just The News: “Several prominent members of the Kennedy Center’s circle, including some of its biggest stars, announced Wednesday that they would leave the venue now that President Donald Trump has become the chairman of its new board.

Trump was unanimously elected as the board’s chairman earlier Wednesday, after he announced last week that he would take over the center and remove some of its previous board members, which he would replace with his allies.

Musician Ben Folds led the way in departing the center, announcing that he would resign as artistic adviser to the National Symphony Orchestra because of “developments at the Kennedy Center.” He has worked with the center for eight years.

Renowned opera singer Renee Fleming followed Folds in announcing she was resigning her post as artistic adviser at large to the Kennedy Center, according to The Hill. “I’ve treasured the bi-partisan support for this institution as a beacon of America at our best,” Fleming said. “I hope the Kennedy Center continues to flourish and serve the passionate and diverse audience in our nation’s capital and across the country.”

Famed Hollywood writer and producer Shonda Rhimes, who created the hit shows Greys Anatomy and Bridgerton, also reportedly resigned from the board, per Deadline.

Trump has replaced the departed board members with singer Lee Greenwood, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, and second lady Usha Vance, among others. The moves have been confirmed by the Kennedy Center, which said that the changes were in effect “immediately.”

“The Board also terminated Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter’s contract and announced Richard Grenell as interim Kennedy Center President,” the center said in a statement.”

  9. EXCERPT: “….A key component to the Democrats’ ongoing denial about what happened last November is the insistence that misogyny played a large role in why Kamala Harris isn’t working from the Oval Office now. That’s been one of their favorite accusations to throw at conservatives for a long time. We want to control women’s bodies and make them all dress like the fetching lasses in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” blah, blah, blah. It’s patently absurd — those “Handmaid’s Tale” getups are not at all attractive.

President Trump’s new administration is already in the process of showing the Dems that Republican women aren’t really shrinking violets.

Let us begin with our new attorney general, who Matt wrote about last night:

On Wednesday, Attorney General Pam Bondi made headlines during her inaugural press briefing, where she delivered a powerful message to New York Democrats protecting illegal immigrants by announcing that charges have been filed against Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, and DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder.

Bondi made it clear that the Department of Justice is taking aggressive action to enforce immigration laws and hold states accountable.

“This is a new DOJ, and we are taking steps to protect Americans, American citizens, and angel moms like the mom standing right behind me,” Bondi said. “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today.”

Letitia James is soon going find out that she’s way out of her league after baiting Pam Bondi into a legal street fight. I can’t pinpoint what James is thinking here. Even she can’t be stupid enough to think that the Department of Justice was bluffing about how it would go about dealing with Democrats who tried to interfere with Trump’s immigration agenda. She’s probably just so used to being able to play mini-tyrant in New York that she’s begun to think that she is untouchable. This isn’t going to go well for her.

Over at RedState, my colleague Streiff writes about Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem groin-kicking the FEMA wing of the Deep State.

I wrote about White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt being battle ready:

Ms. Leavitt, on the other hand, is ready for anything they throw at her. Press secretaries for Republican presidents can’t be DEI flunkies like Psaki and Jean-Pierre because they’re walking into a hostile environment every time they give a briefing.

All of the women in Trump’s administration are prepared for the nonsense that the Democrats have promised to hit them with. Newly Republican Tulsi Gabbard has only had her new gig since yesterday, she’ll no doubt get around to freaking out the Democrats by doing something that’s good for the whole country.

Republican women tend to be tougher than most Democrats because of all of that merit-based weirdness we do over on this side. No box-checking climb up the political ladder for the GOP women. The Democrats’ obsession with placing diversity at the top of the priority list means that even their most accomplished women will be dogged by an asterisk.

Thus far in the New Trump Order, it’s Elon Musk’s face that the Democrats see in their nightmares. The monsters under their beds are about to get a decidedly feminine and attractive makeover.”

  11. “Trump Is Draining The D.C. Swamp, But All 50 States Need To Pull The Plug Too — Voters must remain vigilant against the 50 state-level swamps and their lurking RINO Republicans.”

By: Andrew Roth, February 13, 2025

    alligator leaving swamp

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Since his first day in office, President Donald Trump has swiftly delivered on many campaign promises. He has issued executive orders to end the foreign invasion at our southern border, eliminate racist DEI rules, and appointed Elon Musk to help root out waste and abuse in our federal government.

These are strong conservative reforms worth celebrating. However, Washington, D.C., isn’t the only swamp that needs draining. There are 50 swamps in the 50 state capitols, and they are spiraling out of control. Recent events have made this clear, and their actions should alarm all of us.

The most blatant example is in Texas. Despite Republicans controlling the Texas State House, RINO Republicans sided with Democrats to install a liberal Republican as Speaker. The rules package they recently passed empowers Democrats and was designed to block conservative reforms.

In Florida, liberal Republicans like State House Speaker Daniel Perez are deliberately opposing strong immigration enforcement reforms proposed by Governor Ron DeSantis. They are attempting to strip DeSantis of his authority to arrest and deport illegal aliens and instead transfer it to the liberal Republican Commissioner of Agriculture, who has previously supported driver’s licenses and in-state tuition for illegal aliens.

These moves are audacious, but they pale in comparison to the actions of Georgia House Speaker Rep. Jon Burns. He recently had State Sen. Colton Moore arrested for attempting to attend the State of the State address. Moore’s “crime?” Speaking out against the corruption of a former house speaker who recently passed away. Moore was even physically assaulted by the speaker’s attorney. Meanwhile, Burns is helping Gov. Brian Kemp pass the largest budget in Georgia state history. Imagine that — while Trump is advocating for major spending cuts, the Atlanta “Republican” Swamp is pushing for bigger, more intrusive government.

In South Carolina, liberal Republicans in charge of the State House have empowered Democrats with subcommittee chairmanships and passed rules designed to stifle conservative reforms advocated by the South Carolina Freedom Caucus. Previously, the Columbia Swamp even kicked the SC Freedom Caucus out of the House GOP Caucus simply for publicly pushing strong conservative policies.

Swampy Republican leadership exists in blue states as well. In Illinois, Republican Minority Leader Rep. Tony McCombie stripped financial resources from the Illinois Freedom Caucus because they pushed for conservative reforms that interfered with her ability to collect scraps from the Democrat supermajority. As a “Republican,” she supported green energy bills, voted to give illegal immigrants free legal counsel, and took money from the teachers’ union.

These are just a few examples of Republicans ignoring Trump’s mandate to stop government weaponization. Even worse, voters have made their opposition to these swampy tactics clear — not just at the federal level, but in state elections as well. Dozens of first-time candidates won state office by advocating for conservative reforms like school choice, lower taxes, and the rejection of woke policies. Even better, entrenched Republican incumbents were defeated as voters saw them for who they really were: liberal Democrats masquerading as Republicans. In South Dakota, 14 liberal Republicans lost their seats, largely due to their support for a special interest pipeline project that abused eminent domain to seize private property.

That’s good news. But the GREAT news is that hundreds of strong conservative state lawmakers are fighting the Swamp every day. Thirteen state freedom caucuses are active in state capitols, waging public battles against establishment forces. In states without freedom caucuses, individual lawmakers are taking on the Goliath-like establishment alone. Men like Texas State Reps. Brian Harrison and Nate Schatzline have called out the corrupt liberal Texas Speaker, Dustin Burrows, and his allies. Florida State Rep. Mike Caruso was the lone House Republican to side with DeSantis against the Tallahassee Swamp’s amnesty bill.

We are at a critical moment in our nation’s history. President Trump has four years to push through sweeping reforms to reduce the size and scope of the federal government. But voters must remain vigilant against the 50 state-level swamps. Conservative lawmakers are on the front lines, doing the heavy lifting, but they need our support and defense. The fight is far from over.”

  12. SECRET BLUE STATE RESISTANCE AGREEMENT OBTAINED – BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP

“We have obtained a secret agreement between 22 blue states, DC, and San Francisco, signed beginning on November 8, 2024. This agreement, just 3 days after President Trump’s landslide election win, shows that these resistance actors began, as a matter of absolute urgent top priority, plotting their resistance to President Trump’s anticipated actions to end birthright citizenship.

Despite the mandate from the American People to end the border crisis and return immigration enforcement to the United States, politicians instead acted to frantically preserve their perceived political gains of the Biden Border Crisis. Their top priority was not gas, groceries, public safety, or any other matter of concerns of their citizen constituents, but instead a raw political calculus to ensure that the future children of the illegal aliens that entered during the Biden Border Crisis could turn into voters.

Instead of trying to win back American voters, they seek to create new ones to replace them on the back of the worst border crisis in American history.”

  13. EXCERPT: “Under the Constitution, “the President is invested with certain important political powers, in the exercise of which he is to use his own discretion.” For his decisions, “he is accountable only to his country in his political character, and to his own conscience.” His choices cannot be questioned in court because “the subjects are political. They respect the nation, not individual rights, and being entrusted to the executive, the decision of the executive is conclusive.”

Who penned these outrageous words? Democrats and many pundits might answer Vice President J.D. Vance. Over the weekend, Vance provoked an onslaught of criticism for suggesting that federal district judges “aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”

But the usual suspects would be wrong. The right answer is John Marshall, the greatest chief justice in Supreme Court history. And he did not squirrel this view away in a private journal. Instead, Marshall publicly explained that courts could not review presidential decisions on “political” subjects “entrusted to the executive” in a Supreme Court opinion.

He announced this principle not just in any case, but in Marbury v. Madison, the greatest opinion in Supreme Court history. The very same Marbury that concluded that federal judges should reject unconstitutional statutes, also recognized that courts could not intrude into the president’s exercise of his constitutional — dare we say “legitimate” — powers. Marshall’s opinion has given rise to the “political question doctrine,” which prohibits courts from reviewing decisions vested in the Constitution in the other branches, such as making war, prosecuting cases, and conducting impeachments….”

  15. Just The News: “The Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday morning voted to advance Kash Patel’s nomination for FBI director to a final floor vote. The committee voted to advance the nomination in a 12-10 vote.

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the top Democrat on the committee, delayed the vote by one week on Feb. 6. President Donald Trump nominated Patel to replace former FBI Director Christopher Wray.

With Republicans having the majority of members in the Senate, Patel appears likely to be confirmed.”

  16. Just The News: “The Senate confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the nation’s next Health and Human Services secretary on Thursday. Ahead of the vote, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called Kennedy a “conspiracy theorist” and urged Republicans to oppose him. The 52-48 vote was largely on party lines, with no Democrats supporting him. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., also voted against confirmation.

Kennedy’s nomination was controversial on both sides of the aisle. During his committee hearings, Democrats took exception to his past criticisms of vaccines while Republicans questioned him on his pro-choice positions. Kennedy indicated he would defer to President Donald Trump’s policy of leaving abortion to the states, which largely satisfied Republicans.

Initially a Democratic primary challenger to Joe Biden, Kennedy dropped out in favor of an independent presidential run. He eventually left the race and endorsed Trump, who subsequently tapped him to lead HHS.

His admission to the MAGA camp, moreover, has led to the coinage of the “Make America Health Again” slogan as he hopes to overhaul the American healthcare system.”

  17. OK – I disagree with this author – “…this is the last chance of his lifetime to make a difference…” – I have no doubt whatsoever that RFKJ is looking towards being President himself in the future!!! Watch and see! He WILL run at some point (quite possibly the next election), especially if he is successful @ HHS!

Red State: “The Senate confirmed Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to be the next Secretary of Health and Human Services on Thursday by a 52-48 party line vote. As in the vote on Tulsi Gabbard, Mitch McConnell voted with the Democrats.

Though often pigeonholed as an anti-vaxxer by his opponents, he has a wide-ranging interest in keeping Americans healthy and safe while refusing to be steamrolled by the “scientific consensus.” During his confirmation hearing, RFK, Jr., highlighted the toll that preventable chronic diseases, such as Type II diabetes, take on Americans and on our health care and biomedical research programs, and even on national defense. When 77% of young Americans are medically disqualified from enlisting in the Armed Forces, there is something dreadfully wrong with how we are living.

From his confirmation hearing it was clear that RFK, Jr., knows his most sigfinicant challenge will be bringing Medicare and Medicaid under control and improving the quality of service to consumers. He also understands the nature of the opposition he will face from monied interests who make money off of keeping us on drugs for a lifetime rather than focusing on exercise and nutrition as critical factors  in keeping us healthy. Just remember, we don’t have a health care system, we have a sick care system. There is no money to be made off healthy, active people.

Even though RFK, Jr., is not in sync with the Trump administration on everything, abortion comes to mind, I have no doubt that he will be a team player and color within the lines because this is the last chance of his lifetime to make a difference, and he is more focused on being a change agent than an idealogue.

The nomination of RFK, Jr., to HHS has the possibility of being a brilliant pick that puts the US on track to better health and a much more sane use of health care and medical research dollars, or an utter disaster. But like with Tulsi Gabbard, Trump is the guy who will pay the price if RFK, Jr., self-immolates and if he is fine with that risk, he deserves to have his man in place.”

  18. “Hamas says it will continue releasing Israeli hostages under Gaza deal”

27 minutes ago, David Gritten, BBC News

Reuters Relatives and supporters of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza take part in a protest a calling for the release of all hostages, on a highway in Tel Aviv, Israel (13 February 2025)
Israeli hostages’ families demanded their release at a protest on a highway in Tel Aviv on Thursday

EXCERPT: “Hamas has said it is committed to implementing the Gaza ceasefire deal with Israel and will continue releasing hostages as scheduled, raising hopes that a resumption of the war can be averted.

Following talks in Cairo, the Palestinian armed group said mediators from Egypt and Qatar had confirmed they would “remove obstacles”. Egyptian and Qatari reports also said gaps had been bridged.

An Israeli government spokesman did not comment on the reports but stated that if Hamas did not free three living hostages on Saturday then the ceasefire would end.

Israel’s prime minister made a similar ultimatum on Tuesday after Hamas said it was postponing releases over what it claimed were Israeli violations.

Hamas said these included a failure to allow in the agreed amounts of vital humanitarian aid, including tents and shelters, which Israel denied.

The group’s threat to derail the deal prompted US President Donald Trump to propose Israel cancel the agreement altogether and “let hell break out” unless “all of the hostages” were returned by Saturday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he welcomed Trump’s demand and warned: “If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon [10:00 GMT], the ceasefire will end and the [Israeli military] will resume intense fighting until the final defeat of Hamas.”

However, there were conflicting messages from Israeli officials about whether he was demanding the release of all 76 hostages still in Gaza – in line with Trump’s ultimatum – or just the three due to be freed this weekend…..”

  20. “Mitch McConnell Loses it Over RFK Jr.’s HHS Confirmation — McConnell’s defeat marks a turning point for the Republican Party.”

The Vigilant Fox, Feb 13, 2025

    Share

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been confirmed as the next US Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Senator Mitch McConnel (R-Kentucky) is not happy. Kennedy was confirmed by a vote of 52-48, with the sole “no” Republican vote coming from Mitch McConnell, who issued this bitter statement.

(Video of reporter reading his statement)

“I’m a survivor of childhood polio. In my lifetime, I’ve watched vaccines save millions of lives from devastating diseases across America and around the world. I will not condone the re-litigation of proven cures, and neither will millions of Americans who credit their survival and quality of life to scientific miracles. A record of trafficking in dangerous conspiracy theories and eroding trust in public health institutions does not entitle Mr. Kennedy to lead these important efforts. As he takes office, I sincerely hope Mr. Kennedy will choose not to sow further doubt and division but to restore trust in our public health institutions,” McConnell said.

McConnell’s “no” vote resembles the death rattle of the old Republican Party. He was the only one who voted “no,” while everyone else aligned with MAGA. What this confirms to me is the old GOP is dead, and MAGA is the new Republican Party.

    The future is looking bright!”
