Birch Candle

I love, love, love this candle. It does require being able to drill the hole for the tea light though. Hubby and I are going to attempt these. We have tons of birch trees around!
Equipment
Knife
Drill with drill bits including 1 3/8″ spade bit or slightly larger
Materials
1 section birch wood
Tealight candle
Colored pencil(s) light brown
Pencil
Instructions
Trace the tealight in the center of the birch wood piece using a pencil.
Begin drilling with the spade bit, placing the center of the bit in the center of the tealight circle. Rock the drill back and forth a little while drilling to get a good hole.
Sketch the design you want on the front of the birch pillar using a pencil.
Carve the design on the pencil lines using a knife.
Shade in the design using a light brown colored pencil.
Put a tealight candle in the top of the birch candle holder to finish.
Heart Bookmark

The instructions for this bookmark use a cricut machine but I think there’s an abundantly easier method for those of us without those machines. Simply cut a heart out of construction paper. Cut a second heart the same size, but add ¼ inch tabs to the sides of the heart. Place the 2 hearts together, fold and glue the tabs around to the back of the second heart. Write your message on the top. Easy peasy.

The gift basket in the opening picture is my idea of the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day: a mug, a little Styrofoam, whatever candy the giftee loves the most, some ribbons and doodads from the dollar store and BOOM! A happy valentine!

Some kind of Pelican, I think and we disagree about dogs on the bed! LOL – you would have liked Shelby, my yellow lab – she had been punished severely for that and I couldn’t even coax her onto my bed. I covered my loveseat with a quilt and eventually convinced her that was her spot. That was the only furniture she would get on.

sorry she was beaten for that, but i do think dogs can be trained to stay off furniture if you provide them a comfy bed of their own.

Yes, they can definitely be trained if it’s done properly.

agreed. no cruel training necessary. they want a cozy bed of their own

Crate training is a good option – it becomes their “safe space.”

i agree.
i loved my daughter’s first dog (he passed away). i or anyone could say “feed the dog” and he would run down the basement steps (it’s a finished tv room/ laundry room/ spare kitchen basement) and sit inside his crate and wait for someone to come down and fill his bowl. when you’re ready, you’d say eat and he’d come out and eat. great dog.
their new dog is still a growing and not at all like the first…LOL

A lot depends on the breed/breeding. Some dogs are really smart and pliable while others are just plain stupid and/or stubborn. But, independent of breed, what’s most important is the early training from the time they stop nursing.

EXCERPT: “Many bureaucracies within the federal government are stocked with people who believe they are above being accountable to voters, and one of the worst is the Government Services Administration (GSA). While it ostensibly exists to manage federal workspaces, it has long been run by far-left lunatics who seek to subvert any attempts at reform while pushing woke nonsense.
During President Donald Trump’s first term, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) found that employees at GSA ignored legal requirements to implement facial recognition and then lied about it, claiming it was a matter of “racial equity.” It also made “lived experience” a variable in hiring, meaning the agency became a haven of “trans” and “queer” people hiring each other for roles in which they had no experience.
“What did diverse hiring mean in practice? The government tech arm turned into a coven of transgenders and queers hiring each other. This employee raised money from co-workers for a sex change and used an 18F template to track his goal of changing a “penis for a p–sy.”
https://x.com/lukerosiak/status/1885530307148861443
You may be wondering what “18F” is. It is a GSA-run tech office that “builds, buys, and shares” technology across all agencies. Of course, their role went well beyond that simple descriptor, with 18F dictating everything from the language used to how all federal meetings were conducted so as to promote “diversity and inclusion.” That’s how the country ended up with an “inclusion bot” hounding employees about using terms like “grandfathered” and “guys.” Yes, your taxpayer dollars were paying to maintain an Orwellian bot that told people have to speak.
That’s all changing now, according to investigative reporter Luke Rosiak. With Stephen Ehikian, an ally of Elon Musk, being put in charge, those left at 18F are rushing to reverse course, including deleting the code for the “inclusion bot” and making wholesale changes to regulations and policies….”

It is not lost on me that most of the DC media failed to tell the truth about their partnership with the Biden Regime.
Why else would they not criticize the failure of the Biden Administration to even visit Americans in prison in Venezuela?
The diplomatic standard is a wellness check, at least. These 6 Americans had ZERO help from Joe Biden, Anthony Blinken or Jake Sullivan.
