Rubber Ducky Day

Seems like there’s a day for EVERYTHING and today is National Rubber Ducky Day. With a day with such significance in our history (laugh, laugh), I wanted to reshare my rubber ducky story.  When we put our pond in, my granddaughter was fairly young.  She wanted to swim in it, until we told her there were fish in there.  Then she decided she’d rather fish the pond.

I went on Amazon to see what kinds of fishing poles we could order for the both of us.  She sat beside me and didn’t like any of the ones Amazon offered, so we searched for other water activities.  She settled on rubber duckies. (She wanted to have races across the pond.)

The ones I picked out were really cool—they were actually for bath time.  If the water is too hot, the rubber ducky shows this message on the bottom:

They came in a package of 12 and I ordered them right away.  I knew they wouldn’t get to our house by the time my family left, but they would be there for the next visit.  About a week later we were headed down the driveway to do some grocery shopping when I saw something strange at our delivery box.  (We cannot have regular mail or packages delivered to our address by the postal service, but we could purchase a box to have those things delivered by delivery companies.)

The closer we got, the easier it was to see that no one had opened our box—the door was ripped off!  The package was on the ground and ripped open on one corner.  A rubber ducky was laying on the grass with teeth marks in it!  Apparently, a bear smelled the box of duckies and thought they smelled scrumptious, but one attempted bite proved they were not edible.

I’m guessing the delivery driver had just eaten or something similar and he had the smell on his hands because we couldn’t detect any smells on the ducks or the plastic wrapping they came in.

Happy Rubber Ducky Day!

    Illuminatibot:

Having been called a liar by Anthony Fauci for saying that “not one of the 72 vaccines mandated for children has ever been safety tested”, RFK Jr. sued Fauci.

After a year of stonewalling, Fauci’s lawyers admitted that RFK Jr. had been right all along.

“There’s no downstream liability, there’s no front-end safety testing… and there’s no marketing and advertising costs, because the federal government is ordering 78 million school kids to take that vaccine every year.”

“What better product could you have? And so there was a gold rush to add all these new vaccines to the schedule… because if you get onto that schedule, it’s a billion dollars a year for your company.”

“So we got all of these new vaccines, 72 shots, 16 vaccines… And that year, 1989, we saw an explosion in chronic disease in American children… ADHD, sleep disorders, language delays, ASD, autism, Tourette’s syndrome, ticks, narcolepsy.”

“Autism went from one in 10,000 in my generation… to one in every 34 kids today.”

Elon Musk stepped up big time, donating Starlink to help Los Angeles firefighters and people stay connected during the chaos. Say what you want about the guy, but who else is making moves like this when it counts?

… “DOGE Agents” arrived in Washington, D.C., with a clear target: the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). These agents are aiming squarely at the agency’s grip on taxation and regulation of digital currencies. As Americans watch closely, many see this as a much-needed pushback against bureaucratic overreach. In contrast, others warn that Musk’s growing influence could open the door for unchecked corporate power over public policy.

According to reports, the newly established government agency already has 50 employees working for DOGE out of SpaceX’s Washington offices, configuring ways to lessen the government’s spending. The agents have reportedly been hard at work interviewing more than a dozen executive branch departments, including the U.S. Treasury, IRS, Departments Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services…

DOGE hopes to reach at least 100 employees in the next several weeks. The DOGE X account wrote a post to the account seeking full-time salaried Software Engineers and InfoSec Engineers.  “Recruiting for a very small number of full-time salaried HR, IT, and Finance positions,” the DOGE X account posted. ‘If interested, please DM us your resume and a few bullet points about why you are interested in DOGE.”

This is the fourth time in the last five years that Humvees have been stolen from military sites in California. In 2021, someone stole one from the California National Guard in Bell, California and evaded capture for three days. An Army Reserve Center in Upland, California saw someone try to steal a Humvee in 2020 before being quickly apprehended. Just before the 4th of July in 2023, someone stole a California National Guard Humvee from Santa Rosa National Guard Armory. In the Santa Rosa case, the Humvee was allegedly sighted multiple times over the intervening months, with people in the greater Bay Area and Sonoma County calling law enforcement about it, but the vehicle was only recovered months later.

If these three Humvees are spotted, Tustin PD is asking that anyone who spots the three missing Humvees call them at 714-573-3225.

  6. Just The News: “California authorities announced Sunday night  that at least 24 people have died during the first week of the Los Angeles wildfires as they braced for intensifying winds to complicate firefighting efforts.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said many of the dead remain unidentified.

“The DME cannot confirm human remains until after the DME processes them at our facility,” the office said.

The death total rose by eight since Saturday, when 16 deaths were announced. The dead included 16 from the Eaton Fire and eight in the Palisades fire.

Winds are expected to pick up after a brief lull as the National Weather Service issued a red flag alert for Los Angeles and Ventura counties through Wednesday.”

  8. EXCERPT: “How are the anti-Trump folks doing now that President-elect Donald Trump is about to take over? Not very well, if Michael Cohen is any evidence.

Cohen was on MSNBC’s “The Weekend” on Saturday. It was both funny and pathetic how desperate he was for a pardon from Joe Biden. Cohen claimed that Biden had an obligation to pardon him just like he pardoned his own son, Hunter Biden.

    https://x.com/WesternLensman/status/1878452671012593931

“Yeah, I’d put in the application for a presidential pardon because I believe that Joe Biden has the same responsibility to me that he had to his own son,” Cohen said.

“And I would expect that the same exact pardon that he gave his son has to go to me and to anybody else that’s on that enemies list, whether they want it or not, because I assure you, solitary confinement, where I did 51 days, sucks.”

Host Symone Sanders agreed with him on “the proverbial enemies list,” but she said Biden wasn’t going to give a pardon to anyone who has said they don’t want one. Cohen insisted the people would change their minds “when they’re sitting behind closed doors, they’re going to kick themselves in the backside for that one.”

Then Sanders said that she didn’t think that was the best way to go about getting a pardon, comparing himself to Joe Biden’s “last surviving son.”

“I’m somebody’s son also, by the way,” Cohen interjected.

“Agreed. You are somebody’s son,” she said. “But I mean, to be very clear, you’re not the president’s son.”

First, let’s note what it is Cohen is saying —  the “same pardon” that his son got? You mean the free 11-year pass that he was given for anything and everything that could be a federal crime? It was bad enough that he did that for his own son, and now Cohen is asking that he dole that out to a slew of people? Biden is going to get more flack if he hands out blanket pardons covering years like he did for the First Son.

While I think Biden is very likely to pardon some people, particularly Democrats, I think Cohen might not be on that list, and that’s probably why he’s making a public pitch. I don’t think Biden gives a darn about Cohen, and as Sanders says, he doesn’t actually help himself with Biden by using the pitch of comparing himself to Biden’s son.

Finally, I’ll note that Cohen said he would leave the country if Trump were to win. Here were his bizarre remarks in September:….”

RedState’s Sister Toldjah reported that the man had been seen roaming the area with a bright yellow blowtorch before being confronted by fed-up residents. “We really banded together as a group,” a witness and participant said at the time. “A few gentlemen surrounded him and got him on his knees. They got some zip ties, a rope and we were able to do a citizens’ arrest.”

The suspect was initially only identified in media reports as being “homeless.”

Concerns arose that authorities did not have enough to keep him in custody without enough probable cause to charge the man. He would eventually be arrested on a felony probation violation.

Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin posted late Sunday night to X that the man in that viral video had been identified as Juan Manuel Sierra-Leyva. Sierra-Leyva is reportedly an illegal immigrant hailing from Mexico. Melugin has been told that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intends to place a detainer on him with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

  14. Breitbart: “President-elect Donald Trump complimented Sen John Fetterman (D-PA) as an impressive and “commonsense person” following their meeting at Mar-a-Lago. In an interview with the Washington Examiner, published Sunday night, Trump spoke highly of Fetterman and his wife, Gisele.

“It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely. They were both up, and I couldn’t be more impressed,” Trump said. “He’s a commonsense person. He’s not liberal or conservative. He’s just a commonsense person, which is beautiful,” he added.

The Examiner reported that Fetterman and Trump discussed various topics in the hour-long sit-down, ranging from the border to how tariffs could benefit U.S. Steel.

“They’re going to make people that have steel mills do very well, and the people that work at those steel mills are going to do very well,” Trump said.

In a statement to CBS News on Thursday ahead of the meeting, Fetterman, who has repeatedly demonstrated he is unafraid to think outside the mainstream of the Democrat Party, declared that he had no “gatekeeper.”

“I think that one, he’s the president, or he will be officially,” Fetterman told CBS News. “And I think it’s pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it. And no one is my gatekeeper.”

This marks the first meeting Trump has had with a Democrat Senator at Mar-a-Lago since becoming president-elect, which is fitting considering Fetterman has met with several of Trump’s cabinet nominees and was the first Democrat in the Senate to sponsor the GOP-House passed Laken Riley Act in the Senate.

“I think if we can’t — there [are] 47 of us in the Senate, and if we can’t pull up with seven votes, if we can’t — at least 7 out of 47, and if we can’t, then that’s the reason why we lost. That’s one of them, that’s one of [the reasons] why we lost, in part,” Fetterman told Fox News Channel’s Special Report on Tuesday.

Thirty-two other Democrats joined Fetterman in helping to clear a procedural hurdle in the Senate on the bill, which would force the Department of Homeland Security to take illegal aliens arrested, charged, or convicted of burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting into custody.”

    It said:

My name is Jennifer Davis, the widow of Matthew Livelsberger. I have kept silent until now because I, like all of you, have been in a state of pure shock and denial. The only reason that I have decided to break my silence is because I know that I owe it to our daughter.

In our world of endless internet opinions our daughter needs a post somewhere that speaks the truth of her father.

The truth is we were Matt’s entire world. He loved being a father. We shared our very first Christmas as parents together with our beautiful daughter this year. The way that he adored his daughter was something so unexplainably beautiful. The way he cared and attended to my every need before I could even ask or think, was just one of his endless qualities that have already birthed so many tears of mine in his absence. He loved both of us dearly and deeply. He was selfless and thoughtful. He shielded us and protected us to the very end.

My husband’s military career and service is and was exemplary and speaks for itself. He was a dedicated soldier and loved his family and his brotherhood with every ounce of his being. Matt was a hero among men who dedicated his whole life to serving our country. And he will be remembered as such.

I want to clearly and directly address several pieces of misinformation that have been recently released about my husband and family. First and foremost, Matt and I were in love and committed to our marriage. We had plans and a future with so many dreams that now will be just a memory to seal for our daughter. Matt was not only excited about our future together, but the future of his career and the new job that he had started; and, in no uncertain terms, did we have any plans or intentions of breaking up or separating. Additionally, the paternity of our daughter was never in question and certainly was not an issue in our marriage. I hate even having to clarify that fact as I find that lie personally slanderous and offensive. I want to be clear for my daughter’s sake, the DNA was pulled and verified as a match.

Losing my husband has been the most devastating event of my life. Knowing my daughter’s life will never be the same and will never really know her father, is more than I can process. As you can imagine, the added complexity and public nature of this adds a level of pain and stress that no one can prepare you for.

I sit here today still in the unknown, wishing so badly I could go back to our wonderful first and last Christmas that we shared together. As the days have passed, I still do not have the answers that so many of you are looking for. I am desperately searching for them as well.

While my daughter and I mourn our hero we ask for privacy please. Thank you.

On Monday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered that on Inauguration Day, January 20th, all flags on buildings, facilities, and installations belonging to the state of Texas be raised to full mast to mark the event.

    It’s an interesting move.

On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott ordered that all flags at the Texas Capitol and other state buildings will be raised to full-staff on Jan. 20, 2025.

Donald Trump will be sworn in for his second term as president in Washington D.C. on that Monday.

Gov. Abbott’s announcement cited a federal statute which says the flag should be displayed on all days, including Inauguration Day.

The president-elect has spoken out against the idea of flags being at half-staff for his inauguration.

The reason for this seems obvious: Flying the flag at half-staff is a sign of mourning and is traditionally done at the death of a president. This tradition started in 1799 with the death of George Washington, when the Navy Department ordered all ships to fly their flags at half-staff to mark the death of our first president. President Dwight Eisenhower codified the tradition with a presidential proclamation in 1954. So, Biden’s directive is not unique or unusual; it follows the normal form for events around the death of a former president…..”

Some asked what could have been done differently in LA – I do lunges for a living and even I can figure this out:

    1. Have existing reservoirs filled. If repairs are needed do them during rainy season or after new ones are built.

    2. Build the new reservoirs Californians voted to fund in 2014 – not one is complete.

    3. Stop using tax payer dollars to fund crazy sh!+ like drug kits to the homeless and fund desalination plants.

    4. Increase funding to the fire department – don’t cut it.

    4. Do prescribed control burns!

    5. Create fire breaks.

    6. Divert the water for the smelt fish back to urban areas. – when the fire retardant and fire waste washes into the ocean those fish are screwed way worse.

    6. Get nut farmers out of Cali and into another state. It takes 1.1 gallons of water to grow an almond.

    7. Make sure during fire season the mayor is in LA so someone can declare a federal emergency – this way the navy choppers that drop water could have been deployed immediately. Not days later.

    8. Call in the National guard before all of LA is on fire and being looted.

    9. Force the privately owned utility companies to update their 100 year old equipment so it doesn’t fail and start fires and kill people and animals.

    11. Recall Gavin Newsome.

According to Texas AG Ken Paxton, Allstate created the “world’s largest driving behavior database,” which collected information on more than 45 million Americans after paying mobile app developers millions of dollars to secretly incorporate tracking software. The software was designed beginning in 2015 by Allstate’s data analytics unit, Arity, and integrated into several apps such as Fuel Rewards, GasBuddy, Life360 and Allstate-owned Routely.

According to a press release, from Paxton, These actions violated the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (“TDPSA”),which created heightened protections for Texans’ sensitive data, including but not limited to precise geolocation information. The law requires clear notice and informed consent regarding how a company will use Texans’ sensitive data. Allstate never provided notice or obtained Texans’ consent to collect or sell their sensitive data. This is the first enforcement action ever filed by a State Attorney General to enforce a comprehensive data privacy law.
