Newgrange was built by Stone Age farmers, the mound is 85m (279ft) in diameter and 13m (43ft) high, an area of about 1 acre. A passage measuring 19m (62ft) leads into a chamber with 3 alcoves. The passage and chamber are aligned with the rising sun on the mornings around the Winter Solstice. Access to the Newgrange monument is via the Brú na Bóinne Visitors Centre.
Newgrange is a Stone Age (Neolithic) monument in the Boyne Valley, County Meath, it is the jewel in the crown of Ireland’s Ancient East. Newgrange was constructed about 5,200 years ago (3,200 B.C.) which makes it older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Giza. The mound is ringed by 97 large kerbstones, some of which are engraved with symbols called megalithic art; the most striking is the entrance stone.

Newgrange was built by a farming community that prospered on the rich lands of the Boyne Valley. Knowth and Dowth are similar mounds that together with Newgrange have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Archaeologists classified Newgrange as a passage tomb, however Newgrange is now recognized to be much more than a passage tomb. Ancient Temple is a more fitting classification, a place of astrological, spiritual, religious and ceremonial importance, much as present day cathedrals are places of prestige and worship where dignitaries may be laid to rest.
Newgrange is a large kidney shaped mound covering an area of over one acre, retained at the base by 97 kerbstones, some of which are richly decorated with megalithic art. The 19m (62ft) long inner passage leads to a cruciform chamber with a corbelled roof. The amount of time and labor invested in construction of Newgrange suggests a well-organized society with specialized groups responsible for different aspects of construction.

Newgrange is part of a complex of monuments built along a bend of the River Boyne known collectively as Brú na Bóinne. The other two principal monuments are Knowth (the largest) and Dowth, but throughout the area there are as many as 35 smaller mounds.
Winter Solstice

Newgrange is best known for the illumination of its passage and chamber by the winter solstice sun. Above the entrance to the passage at Newgrange there is an opening called a roof-box. This baffling orifice held a great surprise for those who unearthed it. Its purpose is to allow sunlight to penetrate the chamber on the shortest days of the year, around December 21st, the winter solstice. At dawn, from December 19th to 23rd, a narrow beam of light penetrates the roof-box and reaches the floor of the chamber, gradually extending to the rear of the chamber.
As the sun rises higher, the beam widens within the chamber so that the whole room becomes dramatically illuminated. This event lasts for 17 minutes, beginning around 9am. The accuracy of Newgrange as a time-telling device is remarkable when one considers that it was built 500 years before the Great Pyramids and more than 1,000 years before Stonehenge.
The intent of the Stone Age farmers who build Newgrange was undoubtedly to mark the beginning of the new year. In addition, it may have served as a powerful symbol of the victory of life over death.
Each year the winter solstice event attracts much attention at Newgrange. Many gather at the ancient tomb to wait for dawn, as people did 5,000 years ago. So great is the demand to be one of the few inside the chamber during the solstice that there is a free annual lottery (application forms are available at the Visitor Centre). Unfortunately, as with many Irish events that depend upon sunshine, if the skies are overcast, there is not much to be seen. Yet all agree that it is an extraordinary feeling to wait in the darkness, as people did so long ago, for the longest night of the year to end.

“Did You Know? The Government Can Force Medicate & Vaccinate You Kids Under the Law”
Tom Renz, Jan 06, 2025
EXCERPT: “In the recent past, I was asked to look into a family that was facing a situation where their child had cancer and hospital was threatening to call child services if the parents and child did not consent to chemotherapy. In this particular case there were a number of reasons the parents and child did not want the chemo and they were, to my mind reasonable. More importantly, the idea that a child and his/her parents would be threatened by child services over medical decision seemed horrific – especially in light of all that I’ve learned about cancer recently. So I’ve dug into this a bit from the lawyer’s perspective and what I found was frankly terrifying.
Let me just open this up by being incredibly blunt, we are at a point where the state can legally commandeer your child’s medical care and there may be literally nothing you can do about it.
So what is the law and how could this be? Well, the law differs in various states but is guided by federal law and all states and the federal government agree – rightly so – that there needs to be laws to protect kids from terrible parents or guardians. That said – in some instances the law goes too far and becomes a problem. Below is 42 USC 5106i.
As you can see this statute requires that states empower child protective services to initiate legal proceedings to “prevent the withholding of medically indicated treatment from children with life threatening conditions.” There are two major issues here. The first is “life threatening conditions” which is not well-defined. The second is the use of the phrase “medically indicated treatment.” So why are these issues?….”
“…..There is a lot to unpack in the law related to parental rights and medical treatments. The law is written to ensure terrible parents do not withhold medical treatment in a way that is dangerous for kids but the problem is that our medical system is so corrupt that the law actually interfere’s with good parents trying to keep their kids safe from the big pharma medical complex.
The above is from the tentative draft of the Restatement of the Law – Children & Law and summarizes the law as it exists. I think this is a reasonable explanation of where we are now. Unfortunately where we are now opens the door for forced treatment of our kids with unsafe and horrific treatments and/or vaccines. The urgency to fix our healthcare system could not be more clear – we need to get this handled.”

Just The News: “In a press conference on Sunday, the FBI provided new information regarding the alleged terrorist who plowed through the French Quarter in New Orleans just hours after the start of the new year in a rented Ford pick-up, killing 14 and injuring dozens more.
Among the new bits of information were that the perpetrator of the terrorist act, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas who had served in the Army, had made at least two previous trips to New Orleans, in October and November, and in 2023 had traveled to Egypt and Canada, according to CBS News.
The FBI shared video footage that Jabbar recorded using Meta glasses on one of his trips to New Orleans, while riding through the French Quarter on a bicycle.
Lyonel Myrthil, the special agent in charge of FBI New Orleans, said Jabbar was wearing those glasses again when he drove into the crowd on Bourbon Street, but that he did not have the recording feature turned on at that time.
Federal agents are still saying that it appears that Jabbar acted alone, without accomplices, and that ISIS has not claimed responsibility for the attack. Jabbar had an ISIS flag flying from the truck at the time of the attack.
“Our agents are getting answers as to where he went, who he met with and how those trips may or may not tie into his actions here in our city of New Orleans,” Myrthil told reporters.
Jabbar bought ice chests in Texas on Dec. 31, 2024, to hide improvised explosive devices (IEDs) before driving into Louisiana and going to a home that he rented, officials said, according to Fox News.
In the early morning of Jan. 1, 2025, Jabbar placed IEDs at two locations. The FBI released video that shows him placing one of the chests at Bourbon and Saint Peter Street and a second at Bourbon and Toulouse Streets. He failed, according to officials, in his attempt to detonate the devices during his attack.
“He didn’t have access to a detonator, so he used an electric match in its place to try to set off the explosive material,” said Joshua Jackson, ATF Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Field Division. “It’s not novel. What was different is he didn’t use the right or the correct, device to set it off. And that is just indicative of his inexperience and lack of understanding of how that material might be set off.”

Amazon Prime obtained an exclusive license to the documentary on the once and soon to be again first lady. Filming began this past month and comes just months after her first ever book, “Melania,” was released, according to the New York Post.
“Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized. We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement.
The Slovenian-born former supermodel, 54, will be a producer while Brett Ratner will direct. He has worked on movies like “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “Rush Hour.” Ratner was caught up in controversy during the MeToo movement, according to The Post. Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos, owner of The Washington Post who reportedly still owns about 10% of Amazon. He famously went to visit Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago after the 2024 election, and he has pledged $1 million to the Trump inaugural fund.
Melania has said she wants to focus on her child welfare “Be Best” initiative, as she did during the first Trump administration. “My focus would continue to be creating a safe and nurturing space for children to learn, grow and thrive,” she told Fox News regarding her plans for her second term as first lady.”

Make Greenland Great Again: PM Seeks Independence From Denmark
Our Take: The globalists and their media muppets mocked Trump for discussing the purchase of Greenland. Beyond mocking, they tried painting both the Dutch and the Greenlanders as potential Trump victims. That narrative took a hit on New Year’s Day when Greenland’s PM said he wants independence.
The art of the deal is on full display, and PM Egede seems to realize he’s got leverage — he’s taking steps to negotiate from a position of autonomy and strength.
I wonder if our great grandkids will view the Greenland Purchase the way we view the Louisiana Purchase: As a transformational moment in the literal landscape of America.

Henrico Doctors’ Hospital NICU Nurse Charged with Child Abuse, Malicious Wounding
Our Take: This story hits home for me, for many reasons.
For one, the reporter — Melissa Hipolit — is the journalist responsible for helping save my family from a truly despicable and corrupt Commonwealth’s Attorney, when she helped me expose his corruption to the Virginia voters, resulting in a “community revulsion” against him. (There are real journalists out there, you just don’t often hear about them.)
Secondly, my son spent a week in this NICU two years ago. Any one of these (severely) injured babies could have easily been him. The fact that one of these families had Child Protective Services come after them and take away their baby as a result of what this nurse did — wrongly believing that it was them who hurt the child — is, in a word, unforgiveable.
This woman is a wild animal, and should spend the rest of her natural life in a cage locked up with all the other wild animals. The real judgement for her will come from God, but until that day we have to keep her away from the rest of society.
We’ve really lost that edge — that instinct to protect and to punish those who hurt innocent people, especially children. We make excuses as to why we have become such a weak and pathetic society, and it’s past time for us to look in the mirror and accept responsibility for our shortcomings. We have outsourced our morality to politicians and charlatans in Hollywood, and these gypsies have hypnotized us into believing that these sort of things are just a natural part of life.
One thing we should consider is how future generations will likely look back on us with a great sense of shame and disgust. I bet they will wonder how we ever allowed things to get this bad. I’m sure most — if not all — of us congregating here at Badlands have wondered the same thing.
The question is how we reverse course? I don’t think it is something that happens overnight. It will take time, and a lot of effort. But the first step is recognizing that what we have been doing is not working. We have to admit we have a problem, and decide to change; not just our diet, or our politics, but our entire way of thinking.
Please forgive the pun, but I think it is time to throw the baby out with the bathwater, and start over from scratch. It’s all fruit of the poisonous tree, and so much of it is beyond salvaging. We have our First Principles, our Bill of Rights, and the original framework of our Constitution — which obviously needs to be revisited, to some extent, given what it has allowed to emerge since 1789.
There are no golden calves or sacred cows in this material world. Nothing is beyond reproach. Everything must go — or that should at least be our mindset. Until we are prepared to adopt a mentality that radical, I expect things will continue on this trajectory. Nobody can save us if we aren’t prepared to save ourselves. — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

EXCERPT: “Coming with the new year is a new president with a very different vision on energy than President Joe Biden, who campaigned on a promise to “end fossil fuel.”
President-elect Donald Trump is dismissive of the immediate “climate crisis” narrative that drove much of Biden’s energy policies. He promises to establish American “energy dominance” and focus policy on bringing down the cost of energy.
While Trump can overturn Biden’s industry-punishing executive orders and create a friendlier regulatory environment for the oil, gas, coal and mining industries, experts say there are economic and technical limits to what the outcomes of his policies will be. Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, here’s what we might expect for energy and industry in the second Trump administration.

Climate leadership
Frank Lasee, president of Truth in Energy and Climate and author of “Climate and Energy Lies,” told Just the News that however his policies play out, Trump’s lasting impact will be the shift in the national narrative on climate and energy.
During the Biden years, questioning if climate change is causing a crisis justifying the rapid elimination of fossil fuels earned skeptics the dreaded “climate denier” label. After Trump called climate change a hoax, Democrats were quick to slap the label on him. Voters, apparently, weren’t particularly bothered by the position.
“I think that one of the biggest things Trump’s going to do is the leadership effect of continuing to say, this is a climate crisis hoax. There isn’t a climate crisis. And he’ll talk with the American people about that,” Lasee said”

Just The News: “The new year is starting off with more bad news for environment, social and governance (ESG) investing. Citigroup and Bank of America announced Tuesday that they were leaving the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, Reuters reported. Then on Thursday, Morgan Stanley announced it too was terminating its membership with the group, according to Bloomberg.
Morgan Stanley and Citigroup each said they remain committed to progress in achieving net-zero emissions. Last month, Wells Fargo and Goldman Sachs withdrew from the alliance.
The exodus comes two years after 19 state attorneys general, lead by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, launched an investigation into these firms, for alleged deceptive trade practices connected to ESG. It was the third such investigation Paxton initiated, The Center Square reported.
The NZBA, according to its website, is a bank-led and United Nations-convened organization coordinating their lending, investment and capital markets activities to be in line with net-zero emissions by 2050.”

“Bobcat Rescue: Two Kansas Linemen Rescue Frozen-Down Mother Cat, Kitten”
Red State, By Ward Clark | 3:55 PM on January 06, 2025
“When we’re dealing with unseasonable winter weather, like most of the nation is today, we tend to focus on our own needs. We make sure our cars and trucks have good tires, that we aren’t going out on the roads unless necessary, that we dress for the weather, and so on. That’s as it should be — but at times, we forget that the wildlife that shares our living space can suffer in bad weather, too.
Case in point: On Sunday, while helping to clean up power lines and restore electricity to the area around Norton, Kansas, some power company workers came upon a surprise. The linemen, neither of whom was Glen Campbell, found a mother bobcat and her kitten frozen to the top of a power pole.
The effort included shutting off power to that section of the line, as well, which took longer than the actual rescue. But it wouldn’t have done at all to have come out of the exercise with a barbecued bobcat — or lineman.
The bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a wide-ranging, adaptable critter. They are found almost everywhere in the lower 48 and, like some other species, do rather well around human settlements. But life isn’t easy for any predator. The number of young predators in general that die in their first year is shocking; in more northern latitudes, with harsh winter weather to contend with, less than half of young predators live through their first year.
So, in this case, it’s good that these two Kansas linemen were able to help this mother bobcat and her kitten. This seems appropriate….”

EXCERPT: “….Despite what appears to be a healthy distrust of the media, Wiles granted Axios an interview—via email!—to give some insight into how the Trump 47 West Wing will operate. One thing stood out: Wiles will not tolerate drama.
Things will likely be more buttoned-up and tight-lipped than previous Trump teams that were prone to being leaky.
While the incoming administration has promised to get started on its ambitious agenda on Day 1—addressing things like mass deportations and electric vehicle mandates—Wiles sees her job as looking beyond the famed first 100 days, which she calls “an artificial metric,” and focusing instead on the time between that first day and the 2026 midterms. With Republicans controlling the House and Senate at least through the midterms, this is the time when the Trump agenda is most likely to be passed.
Wiles said the administration will be “getting off to a quick start and staying on that pace, together with an expectation of excellence every day.” Also:
Willes also addressed how Trump 47 would differ from Trump 45:
Trump’s pick of Wiles signals that he’s learned and adapted in the years since his first administration came to a close—not to mention the intervening years of raids and lawsuits—and is particularly aware that he needs people around him, like Susie Wiles, that can be trusted.
For her part, Wiles foresees a strong start for Trump 47, saying, “I have every hope that the 47 administration will not have the same number of attempts to put sand in the gears.”

Thankfully, when William left to go into basic training, he put all of his cattle in his Dad’s name and they were able to sell them (25) for a pretty penny, which will fund his defense. And that means she can’t try to take them in the divorce! Ha! They said thanks to those who have offered to help but they’re good for the moment. If anyone wants to donate, like myself, it would cost $$$ to do it electronically so I’ll just send Sis a check; she can cash it and give it to them.

But then Tippi Hedren was small – 5’4″, like me and the pic was taken from the floor, looking up.

My Sis dodged the worst of the snow – only about 5″ and none of her chicken waterers froze! LOL

I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.
