From HISTORY.COM:
Nostradamus was a 16-century French astrologer and physician whose prophecies earned him fame both during and after his lifetime. In the centuries since his death in 1566, people have credited Nostradamus with predicting pivotal events in history, from the French Revolution to the rise of Adolf Hitler to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and even the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. His book, The Prophecies, was published in 1555, and has since earned him worldwide fame. According to Nostradamus, the world is slated to end in the year 3797.
Who Was Nostradamus?
Nostradamus was born Michel de Nostradame on December 14 or 21, 1503, in the south of France in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. He was one of nine children born to Reyniere de St-Remy and her husband Jaume de Nostradame, a well-to-do grain dealer and part-time notary of Jewish descent. Nostradame’s grandfather, Guy Gassonet, had converted to Catholicism a half century earlier and changed the family name to Nostradame, in part to avoid persecution during the Inquisition.
Little is known of his childhood, but evidence indicates he was very intelligent as he quickly advanced through school. Early in his life, he was tutored by his maternal grandfather, Jean de St. Remy, who saw great intellect and potential in his grandson. During this time, young Nostradame was taught the rudiments of Latin, Greek, Hebrew and mathematics. It’s believed that his grandfather also introduced him to the ancient rites of Jewish tradition and the teachings of astrology, giving Nostradame his first exposure to the idea of the heavens and how they might drive human destiny.
Education
At the age of 14, Nostradame entered the University of Avignon to study medicine. He was forced to leave after only one year, however, due to an outbreak of the bubonic plague. According to his own account, he traveled throughout the countryside during this time, researching herbal remedies and working as an apothecary.
In 1522 he entered the University of Montpellier to complete his doctorate in medicine. He sometimes expressed dissension with the teachings of the Catholic priests, who dismissed his notions of astrology. There are some reports that university officials discovered his previous experience as an apothecary and found this reason to expel him from school. Evidently the school took a dim view of anyone who was involved in what was considered a “manual trade.” However, most accounts state he was not expelled and received license to practice medicine in 1525. At this time, he Latinized his name—as was the custom of many medieval academics—from Nostradame to Nostradamus.
The Plague Years
Over the next several years, Nostradamus traveled throughout France and Italy, treating victims of the plague. There was no known remedy at the time; most doctors relied on potions made of mercury, the practice of bloodletting and dressing patients in garlic-soaked robes.
Nostradamus developed some very progressive methods for dealing with the plague. He didn’t bleed his patients, instead practicing effective hygiene and encouraging the removal of the infected corpses from city streets. He became known for creating a “rose pill,” an herbal lozenge made of rosehips (rich in vitamin C) that provided some relief for patients with mild cases of the plague. His cure rate was impressive, though much can be attributed to keeping his patients clean, administering low-fat diets and providing plenty of fresh air.
In time, Nostradamus found himself somewhat of a local celebrity for his treatments and received financial support from many of the citizens of Provence. 1n 1531, he was invited to work with a leading scholar of the time, Jules-Cesar Scaliger in Agen, in southwestern France. There he married and in the next few years had two children. In 1534, his wife and children died—presumably of the plague—while he was traveling on a medical mission to Italy. Not being able to save his wife and children caused him to fall out of favor in the community and with his patron, Scaliger.
Nostradamus Book of Predictions: The Prophecies

By 1554, Nostradamus’ visions had become an integral part of his works in the almanacs, and he decided to channel all his energies into a massive opus he initially titled Centuries. He planned to write 10 volumes, which would contain 100 predictions forecasting the next 2,000 years. In 1555 he published Les Prophesies, or The Prophecies, a collection of his major, long-term predictions. Possibly feeling vulnerable to religious persecution, he devised a method of obscuring the prophecies’ meanings by using quatrains—rhymed four-line verses—and a mixture of other languages such as Greek, Italian, Latin and Provencal, a dialect of southern France.
Oddly enough, Nostradamus enjoyed a good relationship with the Vatican. It’s believed he never faced prosecution for heresy by the Inquisition because he didn’t extend his writings to the practice of magic. His popularity grew and he became one of the most famous figures during the Renaissance. Nostradamus ran into some controversy with his predictions, as some thought he was a servant of the devil, and others said he was a fake or insane. However, many more believed the prophecies were spiritually inspired.
Predictions of Nostradamus
Nostradamus Predicts Napoleon? His growing fame made him an in-demand ally of Europe’s elite. Catherine de Medici, the wife of King Henri II of France, was one of Nostradamus’ greatest admirers. After reading his almanacs of 1555, where he hinted at unnamed threats to her family, she summoned him to Paris to explain and draw up horoscopes for her children. A few years later, she made him Counselor and Physician-in-Ordinary to King Henri’s court.
In 1556, while serving in this capacity, Nostradamus explained another prophecy from Centuries I, which was assumed to refer to King Henri. The prophecy told of a “young lion” who would overcome an older one on the field of battle. The young lion would pierce the eye of the older one and he would die a cruel death. Nostradamus warned the king he should avoid ceremonial jousting. Three years later, when King Henri was 41 years old, he died in a jousting match when a lance from this opponent pierced the king’s visor and entered his head from the eye deep into his brain. He held on to life for 10 agonizing days before finally dying of infection.
Nostradamus claimed to base his published predictions on judicial astrology—the art of forecasting future events by calculation of the planets and stellar bodies in relationship to the earth. His sources include passages from classical historians like Plutarch as well as medieval chroniclers from whom he seems to have borrowed liberally. In fact, many scholars believe he paraphrased ancient end-of-the-world prophecies (mainly from the Bible) and then through astrological readings of the past, projected these events into the future.
However, not everyone was enamored with Nostradamus’ predictions. He was criticized by professional astrologers of the day for incompetence and assuming that comparative horoscopy (the comparison of future planetary configurations with those accompanying known past events) could predict the future.
How Did Nostradamus Die?
Nostradamus suffered from gout and arthritis for most of his adulthood. In the last years of his life, the condition turned into edema or dropsy, where abnormal amounts of fluid accumulate beneath the skin or within cavities of the body. Without treatment, the condition could result in congestive heart failure. In late June of 1566, Nostradamus asked to see his lawyer to draw up an extensive will, leaving much of his estate to his wife and children. On the evening of July 1, he is alleged to have told his secretary, “You will not find me alive at sunrise.” The next morning, he was reportedly found dead lying on the floor next to his bed.
Legacy
Most of the quatrains Nostradamus composed during his life dealt with disasters such as earthquakes, wars, floods, invasions, murders, droughts, battles and plagues. Nostradamus enthusiasts have credited him with predicting numerous events in world history including the French Revolution; the rise of Napoleon and Hitler; the development of the atomic bomb; the assassination of JFK and the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
More recently, enthusiasts claim that Nostradamus predicted the rise of COVID-19 when he wrote, “Near the gates and within two cities/There will be two scourges the like of which was never seen. Famine within plague, people put out by steel/Crying to the great immortal God for relief.”
Nostradamus’s popularity seems to be due in part to the fact that the vagueness of his writings and their lack of specific dates make it easy to selectively quote them after any major dramatic events and retrospectively claim them as true. Some scholars believe he was not writing to be a prophet but writing to comment on events of his time and the people in it. Whatever his method or intentions, Nostradamus’ timeless predictions continue to make him popular to those seeking answers to life’s more difficult questions.

Senile Biden’s insult to families of Marines murdered in disastrous Afghan withdrawal
Joe Biden kept the grieving relatives of the Marines killed in Afghanistan waiting for three hours while he napped on Air Force One on the tarmac before a dignified transfer, multiple military families have told Daily Mail.
The shocking allegation comes today amid growing calls for the Biden administration to be investigated over its scandalous cover-up of the president’s ailing health.
Biden, it has emerged, has not been present for key moments of his presidency, nor has he been involved in major decisions like the disastrous withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in August 2021.

for heaven’s sake….there’s welfare in every freaking bill they pass. that’s ridiculous!
FTA
The bulk of the Farm Bill is funding for food stamps, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said Thursday during an interview on Breitbart News Daily.
Sen. Johnson walked through some of the issues with the original 1,537-page continuing resolution (CR) negotiated by Speaker Johnson, which is full of pork. One of the stumbling blocks for some is the inclusion of the Farm Bill in the spending deal, but the senator said it is not what it seems.
“I guess, the leverage that is being thrown at us is, “We have to pass this because it has a Farm Bill in it, and it’s like, well, hold on,” host Mike Slater said, asking the senator to explain what that means.
“It’s a food stamp bill,” Johnson revealed. “80 percent of the Farm Bill is funding for food stamps, and Obama dramatically increased eligibility.”
“It used to be in prosperous times, maybe 6 percent of the population was on food stamps. Then [the] recessions, go up to 12 [percent] 13 [percent], pretty well stuck at that higher limit nowadays, because we pay people not to work,” Johnson said.
“Let’s be honest, we pay people not to work,” he said, noting that the U.S. welfare program is very generous.
“People don’t pay taxes on them [welfare benefits]. We have a huge transfer of wealth from working Americans to people who don’t work. And we’re a compassionate society. We want to help people who can’t help themselves. We want to help people help themselves, but we created a far too large dependent class. That’s got to end,” he said. “We need to get people off the couch. They’ve got to enter the workforce and grow our economy.”
Speaking to Breitbart News Daily that same day, Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI), a member of the House Freedom Caucus, also said the Farm Bill has “become largely a food stamp bill.”
“I mean, it is all about passing out the goodies, and therein lies the big concern with the Farm Bill for many of us is that as a result of being able to — the requirements to be able to qualify for food stamps are so loose and states do not enforce them well, so much of the money goes out fraudulently or goes out to people who really shouldn’t be getting the money,” he said.
“That’s the big problem with the Farm Bill. It isn’t so much helping farmers anymore. It’s become a food stamp program,” he added.
“I mean, there’s some good stuff in there for farmers, absolutely. But this is where the Democrats come back and say, ‘We want more money for the Farm Bill,’ because that’s the reason Democrats support the Farm Bill, not because of farmers, but because of food stamps,” Tiffany concluded.

Just The News: The Senate on Friday approved a last-minute stopgap spending bill to avert a government shutdown.
The 85 to 11 vote followed tense negotiations in the House that led to the chamber approving a 118-page bill that excluded pork spending and a host of items that President-elect Donald Trump had blasted as “Democratic giveaways.”
It notably did not include a provision to suspend the debt limit that Trump sought to include.
The bill now heads to the desk of President Joe Biden, who has indicated he will sign it, according to Politico.”

EXCERPT: “The House Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government uncovered censorship, FBI whistleblower retaliation, and politicization of the nation’s top law enforcement and intelligence agencies over its nearly two-year probe into federal agencies.
On Friday, the House subcommittee housed under Chairman Jim Jordan’s Judiciary Committee, released its 17,000-page final report touting these and other findings. The broad investigation, the subcommittee says, uncovered a “two-tiered system of government—one of favorable treatment for the politically-favored class, and one of intimidation and unfairness for the rest of American citizens.”
The probe led by Chairman Jordan uncovered several stunners, including federal government efforts to censor social media content directly and through proxies, the weaponization of law enforcement resources against Americans, and Democrat-aligned prosecutors’ efforts to use the law to target their political opponents, namely Trump.
The report celebrates the work of the subcommittee bringing “abuses by the federal government into the light for the American people,” but notes that the work is not over to remedy these abuses. You can read the four part report here.
“The Weaponization Committee conducted rigorous oversight of the Biden-Harris administrations weaponized government and uncovered numerous examples of federal government abuses,” the panel’s chairman, Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Fox News Digital in a statement.
“Through our oversight, we protected the First Amendment by investigating the censorship-industrial-complex, heard from numerous brave whistleblowers, stopped the targeting of Americans by the IRS and Department of Justice, and created serious legislative and policy changes that will benefit all Americans,” he said.

EXCERPT: “Germany’s government collapsed this week after internal squabbling over economic policy and the future of German entitlements. Yet many analysts think that when voters go to the polls in February to elect news lawmakers, the biggest electoral issue may be the policies of Donald Trump.
Trump will have been in the White House for barely a month by the time of the German vote, and the 47th president’s early decision making will loom large in Europe’s largest economy.
After weeks of instability, the German government led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz lost a confidence vote on Dec. 16, a little more than a month after a key coalition partner pulled its support over a budget dispute, and amid growing support for the far-right and European Union-skeptic Alternative for Germany party. It was just the sixth time a German government lost such a vote since the end of World War II.
Soon after, Scholz and opposition leader Friedrich Merz released their platforms. Broadly speaking, Scholz favors protecting entitlements – leaving the retirement age unchanged and gradually raising the minimum wage – while supporting Ukraine even as he vows not to ever send German troops to the country. Merz, meanwhile, wants tax cuts, stronger curbs on mass migration, redefined goals in Ukraine, and deflation of welfare guarantees.
They’ve also spent a lot of time launching brutal verbal attacks on each other.
Merz called Scholz “a European embarrassment” who failed to deliver on promises he made. “Why haven’t you done the things you mentioned?” the 69-year-old conservative said. “Were you traveling in another galaxy? Did you travel to another planet?”
For his part, Scholz was dismissive in his response. “That’s just Fritz, who likes to talk nonsense,” Scholz said, referring to Merz by his nickname.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron recently named the country’s fourth prime minister in roughly a year. And Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a peer of Scholz and Macron, is facing calls to step down after his finance minister abruptly resigned….”

Just The News: “President Joe Biden’s administration on Friday withdrew its plan to forgive massive amounts of student loans, reneging on one of the administration’s biggest promises just one month before the president is expected to leave office.
The Education Department’s plans to forgive millions of student loan debts has been hit with multiple legal challenges over the years, and its first attempt to forgive student loans by using emergency powers tied to the Covid-19 pandemic was even blocked by the Supreme Court last year.
The department in a notice on Friday said that it was rescinding two of its major pending proposals, including one that has been blocked by a federal judge after a coalition of conservative attorneys general sued the administration.
Department officials cited “operational challenges” of attempting to implement the two rules in their reasoning, but maintained the legality of the plan, according to Politico. They also said they want to prioritize “helping at-risk borrowers return to repayment successfully,” for the remainder of the term.
The notice comes the same day the administration announced it had forgiven an additional $4.28 billion in student debt relief for roughly 55,000 public service workers.
“Four years ago, the Biden-Harris Administration made a pledge to America’s teachers, service members, nurses, first responders, and other public servants that we would fix the broken Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, and I’m proud to say that we delivered,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a press release.
The new loan forgiveness brings the total amount of student loan relief money under the administration to almost $180 billion for 4.9 million borrowers.”

Just The News: “The Biden administration’s Department of Education on Friday withdrew its proposed rule change to Title IX, which included new anti-discrimination protections for transgender students, as President Joe Biden prepares to leave office.
The proposed rule, titled “Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance: Sex-Related Eligibility Criteria for Male and Female Athletic Teams” was first introduced in the Federal Register in 2023.
The department said it now does not “intend for a final rule to be issued,” per NBC News. If the administration had not withdrawn its proposal, it would have been easier for President-elect Donald Trump’s administration to tweak the rules for their own agenda.
The department also said that it made its decision because of ongoing litigation over the rule change, and because there were 150,000 public comments with modifications suggestions that needed to be considered.
Opponents of the proposed change, including the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), celebrated the decision in a statement. “Women and girls deserve to compete on a level playing field, and the U.S. Department of Education has taken a step in the right direction by withdrawing this proposed change,” ADF Senior Counsel and Vice President of Legal Strategy Jonathan Scruggs said in a statement.
“As the withdrawal admitted, many Americans voiced their opposition to the rule change and there are many pending lawsuits related to protecting women’s sports,” he continued. “The decision to withdraw the proposed sports rule merely reflects the views of the vast majority of Americans who believe that women’s sports should remain reserved for female athletes.”
The withdrawal comes the same day the department abandoned its plan to forgive massive amounts of student loans, reneging on one of the administration’s biggest promises just one month before the president is expected to leave office.”

Just The News: “Kansas GOP Sen. Roger Marshall on Thursday announced the creation of a “Make America Healthy Again” caucus for the next Congress, which will focus on nutrition, access to affordable nutritious foods, and the root causes of chronic diseases.
The group is expected to work with President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has endorsed the creation of the caucus.
Marshall, who practiced medicine for over 25 years, will lead the caucus. Other Republican members include Sens. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, Rick Scott of Florida, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin.
“The MAHA caucus is committed to improving health outcomes by prioritizing nutrition, providing access to affordable, nutrient-dense foods, and focusing on primary care availability to tackle the root causes of chronic diseases,” Marshall said in a statement. “With our ‘Food is Medicine’ approach, support from RFK Jr., and a shared goal to Make America Healthy Again, we aim to foster transparency, innovation, and a transformative agenda that builds a healthier, stronger nation.”
The announcement comes after Marshall met with Kennedy to discuss his plans as HHS Secretary, if approved by the Senate. Marshall endorsed Kennedy shortly after the meeting.”

“Uniparty Speaker Johnson May Retain Power with Support of Democrats”
Kyle Becker, Dec 21, 2024
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Speaker Mike Johnson, who recently passed a massive spending bill with the support of Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, may retain the gavel by entering into a “power-sharing” agreement across party lines.
This is the view of Senator Mitt Romney, who is retiring from Congress. “There may be an effort to blow everything up, but I don’t think — I think the Democrats are smarter than that,” Romney told reporters. “They’d give him support.” The political bargain would serve as a check on America First Republicans aligned with the Trump agenda, as well as members of the Freedom Caucus, who aim to cut unsustainable spending levels.
It would also formalize a symbiotic relationship with the shared aim to keep fleecing taxpayers and funding foreign wars. Mike Johnson and Hakeem Jeffries teaming up to thwart the Trump agenda would tear the mask off a Uniparty dynamic that has been obvious to political observers for over a decade.
One of the most notable examples of this dynamic occurred during the 2013 government shutdown, triggered by Tea Party demands to defund the Affordable Care Act. While Boehner initially allowed the shutdown to proceed under pressure from conservatives, he ultimately negotiated a deal with Democrats to reopen the government—a move that deeply alienated the Tea Party and sparked calls for his ouster.
Boehner’s reliance on Democratic votes not only infuriated the conservative base but also exposed deeper structural tensions within the Republican Party. The Tea Party’s grassroots energy clashed with the establishment priorities of the GOP leadership. For many Tea Party members, Boehner’s actions epitomized what they saw as the “uniparty” establishment—Republicans and Democrats colluding to maintain the status quo at the expense of government reform and democratic accountability.
House Republicans are presently clinging to a narrow majority and can only afford to lose one vote. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) has already indicated that he would not support Johnson staying on as Speaker in the next Congress. At least 25 House Republicans may vote against Johnson to remain as Speaker, a senior House GOP staffer told Breitbart News’s editor Matt Boyle.
On Friday, the House finally passed a continuing resolution to fund the government until March. More Democrats voted for the CR than Republicans.
Noticeably absent from the Continuing Resolution was raising the debt ceiling, a provision President-Elect Donald Trump has sought in order to further his agenda.
MAGA allies argue that keeping the debt limit would give Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer leverage in the upcoming Congress. Meanwhile, fiscal hawks want the debt limit to remain in tact in order to curb spending.
Trump is allying with fiscal hawks in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — led by tech billionaire Elon Musk and political adviser Vivek Ramaswamy — with the mission to cut government spending and to boost economic growth.
In order to stimulate economic growth, Trump would implement tax cuts that have to be “paid for” in any new budget. This would stimulate economic growth that would broaden the tax base and help make up for the budgetary shortfall. This strategy would also be supplemented by tariffs, which the CBO has admitted would help cut the deficit and would not significantly fuel inflation.
Speaker Johnson’s expected betrayal of Trump voters would reflect a further exposure of the federal government as colluding to halt the America First agenda. This turn of events would further propel the activities of Trump-aligned disrupters, such as Elon Musk, who has promised to retaliate by funding the campaigns of primary opponents who run against establishment holdouts.
The future portends a major clash: The Uniparty establishment versus MAGA. The result will either be a new “golden age” for America’s constitutional republic or a Republican Party that will be relegated to the ashbin of history.”

Fox: Super-cold temps coming to the NE, as well as snow; airport delays, of course, and wind chills in the negatives. A lot of rain out Rodney’s way, with flooding. Warmer air across the entire country for Xmas.

“The trio of Fonda, Nicholson and Hopper did not just restrict themselves to ingesting copious amounts of drugs during the production. In the quest for the ultimate high, they reportedly wandered into the office of an executive at the production company to look for cocaine. When they couldn’t find it, they ended up snorting the ashes of the executive’s dead wife.”
NF: This gets my vote!

Piper just left – oh, it was so nice seeing her! She’s got quite a voice – we are going to sing together sometime in the future. She sang a couple of songs for me and I sang for her. She has a new boyfriend that she is excited about. Cute guy – she showed me his picture. I feel like a midget next to her! She said she is 5’5″ (I am 5’4″) but she seemed taller. She takes after her Dad and is much heavier, too. She said he is ok with her seeing me but doesn’t want to talk to me himself – that is definitely mutual!

Federal government employees are starting to come forward.
They’re going to expose corruption and keep their jobs.

i wonder if –and this is just me spitballing–what if we’re being blackmailed with those biolabs in ukraine?
like every time zelensky comes asking for $$, he’s actually threatening to allow russia or bad actors to gain control of them unless we keep funding them.

I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.
