    The ‘America First Act’ would remove eligibility for a variety of benefits from noncitizens

     Republicans are looking to stop welfare and other benefits from going to illegal immigrants paroled into the U.S. — and they are angling to pass it through the budget reconciliation process, bypassing the Senate’s 60-vote legislative filibuster.

    Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, is introducing the “America First Act” on Wednesday, which would change the requirements outlined in the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act to explicitly exclude people in the country illegally, including those granted asylum, those who are paroled into the country or people being withheld from deportation.

    These individuals would not be eligible to receive welfare benefits, including participation in programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or certain housing benefits.

    “For years, Americans have been told that illegal immigrants are barred from receiving federal benefits to distract from Washington’s complete failure to secure our borders,” said Lee in a statement. “This is a lie. Millions of illegal immigrants ‘paroled’ into the United States, many for fraudulent asylum claims, have gained the ability to access welfare and aid programs originally designed to help American families, not attract and support massive populations of foreign citizens. The America First Act pulls the plug on this criminal redistribution scheme forced upon the American people by Joe Biden and generations of dishonest politicians.”

Hmmm….according to Wiki: “The order of succession specifies that the office passes to the vice president; if the vice presidency is simultaneously vacant, the powers and duties of the presidency pass to the speaker of the House of Representatives, president pro tempore of the Senate, and then Cabinet secretaries, depending on eligibility.”

          So it’s depending on eligibility – they would, therefore, be bypassed. But here’s the thing: they don’t subscribe to the “natural born citizen” clause in the first place due to the misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment.

    It’s hard to believe that anyone would pay Joy Reid that much money, especially when she attacks millions of Americans because they’re Trump supporters. Maybe that’s one of the reasons MSNBC is in big trouble — poor decisions. And they wonder why their ratings are in the toilet? Has MSNBC checked the crazy things she has said, like her anti-Trump Thanksgiving rant? They should be giving her the boot, not just cutting her salary…..”

        1. i don’t get it either but i did read something like congress views tax cuts as SPENDING, so if there was a debt ceiling–his tax cuts and such could not be passed thereby tying his hands for economic recovery.
          no debt ceiling for 2 years would be optimum for his plan

  5. Just The News: “House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters Friday that members will be voting on legislation this morning to avoid a government shutdown, following a failed attempt Thursday evening.

    “We have a plan,” said the Louisiana Republican, according to The Hill newspaper. “We’re expecting votes this morning, so you all stay tuned. We’ve got a plan.”

    Johnson did not give any details about the new plan. His initial bill was shot down earlier this week by President-elect Donald Trump. And a Trump-backed bill failed to pass Thursday evening in the House. 

    A government shutdown will occur tonight if a continuing resolution isn’t passed.”

    I always wondered who paid for these Lefties to do this to Eastman. They had a bunch of lawyers, assistants and those had to add up to millions of dollars. Nobody really knew who paid them, nobody asked.

    Regarding the Federal Budget Scam now taking place v/v the State of CA now saying state of emergency exists due to COVID resurgence…this is another PUBLICLY executed prime example how the “legal” pump and steal of a Federal Budget Line is executed.

    Last week the pen and cell phone of Sock Puppet JoeBama Biden were used to extend the COVID emergency, for multiple reasons. Among the reasons was to dump MORE Money into the COVID Relief Budget Line.

    Think on ALL the States and Municipalities who have been “accused” of diverting FEDERAL COVID Relief aid to unrelated “emergencies” and “projects”. By the way that diversion was LEGAL per the Congressional Instructions sent with the State Grant.

    The failed CR and current CR have a Federal COVID Relief Budget Line.

    Now the State of CA says it needs the money…and other Democrat States as well as Municipalities and NGO’s are claiming a COVID emergency.

    The scam continues.

    My view of the budget seems to be different from most people here.

    Why do farmers need help, and which farmers is it? Is it the Saudi Arabia farmers growing alfalfa in Arizona to send to Saudi Arabia to feed their horses? Or maybe it is the Bill Gates farmers needing money to let their land lay dormant. Perhaps it is the Sam Donaldson farmers needing to be paid because there is not a market for their Angora goat wool.

    Why does fema need money? They have been getting appropriations in the crs and have been spending it on supporting illegals. If you deport the illegals, fema has money.

    The government budget ends in September. The first quarter of the 2025 budget has already been appropriated through crs.
    The government gets most of its income from Jan-April. Pass a balanced budget and no debt ceiling raise is necessary.

    The government income receipts for 2024 were 4.92 T.
    The government spent 6.75 T.
    The government deficit was 1.83 T.
    Elon Musk said he would cut 2T. That is more than enough to balance the budget.

    Elon and President Trump need to do what they said they would do or they should be considered nothing but more scammers.

    No debt increase ever.

    And yet many of the routine functions of government — things like national defense, benefit checks and mail delivery — continue as usual.  

    The uniquely American phenomenon of the partial government shutdown — a symptom of divided government, a dysfunctional budget process and a constitutional system that requires the House, Senate and president to agree on a spending plan — affects every federal agency differently.

    In principle, a law dating back to the 19th century prohibits federal agencies from spending money “exceeding an amount available in an appropriation” from Congress. Because Congress usually only appropriates money year-to-year, that means there’s a threat of a shutdown every Oct. 1, when the new fiscal year begins.     But there are exceptions. Government agencies responsible for health, safety and protection of property can continue, which includes military personnel, homeland security and food inspections.

    And a number of federal entities — including the Federal Reserve and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — aren’t funded by annual appropriations from Congress and can continue running off their own funding sources.  

    Good news for those looking to travel by train or send a last-minute package for the holidays: Amtrak and the US Postal Service are also among those entities that will continue operations during the shutdown.

    The Office of Management and Budget requires every executive agency to submit a contingency plan in the event of a shutdown — technically known as a “lapse in appropriation.” Here are some highlights: 

    Federal Employees 

    About four in 10 federal employees will be furloughed and barred from doing any work under a law that prohibits agencies from accepting volunteer labor. Essential employees will work without pay. 

    High-ranking federal officials confirmed by the Senate are always exempt from furlough.   

    Before the 35-day shutdown that began in December 2018, Congress passed a law codifying the practice of retroactively paying federal workers — both furloughed and essential workers — after the shutdown ends. But paychecks would be suspended in the meantime, often resulting in higher rates of absenteeism. 

    And constitutional officers — like the president, members of Congress and judges — must be paid under the Constitution….

    The OFR is funded through FY24.

    Our notice states that in the event of an appropriations lapse, we are allowed to publish documents from unfunded agencies that are directly related to the performance of governmental functions necessary to address imminent threats to the safety of human life or protection of property. Because we cannot make determinations as to whether certain documents are directly related to activities that qualify for an exception under the Antideficiency Act, agencies must include an exception letter certifying that their documents relate to emergency activities authorized under the Act. Our notice applies specifically to unfunded agencies.

Just The News: “The House Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government on Friday released its 17,000-page final report touting its findings over its nearly two-year probe of the federal government that exposed censorship, whistleblower retaliation, and politicization in the nation’s top law enforcement and intelligence agencies. 

    The broad investigation, the subcommittee says, uncovered a “two-tiered system of government – one of favorable treatment for the politically-favored class, and one of intimidation and unfairness for the rest of American citizens.” 

    The report celebrates the work of the subcommittee bringing “abuses by the federal government into the light for the American people,” but notes that the work is not over to remedy these abuses.

    “If there is going to be a shutdown of government, let it begin now, under the Biden Administration, not after January 20th, under “TRUMP.” This is a Biden problem to solve, but if Republicans can help solve it, they will!” Trump posted.

    His remarks come after Republicans failed on Thursday to pass an abridged continuing resolution to avert a shutdown. The lower chamber was initially set to approve a 1547-page long bill that included what Trump called “Democratic giveaways.”

    The revised bill was a mere 116 pages, but also included a provision to raise the debt ceiling sought by Trump.”

    I worked under this exact scenario for a number of years in NOVA. I was an employee of the temp agency and was assigned to various positions, short- and long-term, located at various defense contractors. The agency held my clearance, not the defense contractors, and the agency paid me, for which they billed their customers, the contractors. They also had an insurance/vacation plan for long-term employees. That would be like me picketing one of the contractors to get TempSolutions to give me a raise! Just stupid all the way around!

    Quick story about govt. shutdowns and the theatrics behind them. One year when I was reporting at CBS News during a govt. shutdown, I think 2013, we were sincerely searching for real life impact. When we couldn’t find any, *that* should have been part of the story. Instead, we kept trying to create the appearance of an impact. It wasn’t really trying to be dishonest. It was, in my retrospective view, because the general editorial idea for the story was to show how bad the “Republican” shutdown was for ordinary
    Americans, and the answer simply couldn’t be that it wasn’t. I’ve written quite a bit about this but we, as journalists, too often “decide” the story in advance and shape the facts to fit our narrative, rather than gathering information and letting that tell the story, whatever it may be. Anyway, the Ds were blaming Rs for the shutdown, so we were calling Ds and the Obama administration for ideas to report what was the real impact. Taking our cue, these officials fabricated impact that we could report. For example, they cordoned off outdoor public monuments in Washington DC. We knew and even discussed in the newsroom that this made no sense. These monuments weren’t “manned” to begin with. The only reason to cordon them off from the public was so that visiting tourists would see the “impact” of the shutdowns and the news media would have something to take pictures of and interview people about. There are other examples but this is the one I remember the most.

  21. Just The News: “The House of Representatives will vote on Friday on the continuing resolution that failed Thursday minus the debt limit, according to Punchbowl News.

    Jake Sherman, founder of Punchbowl News, announced the vote on Friday. “UPDATE — just ONE VOTE,” Sherman posted on X. “[T]he bill that failed last night — without debt limit. Vote this afternoon.”

    The bill will need a two-thirds majority vote to suspend the rules to pass the bill without going through a committee. The continuing resolution is to prevent a government shutdown on Friday.

    The House of Representatives’ spending bill, the American Relief Act 2025, failed on Thursday to get a two-thirds majority vote. The final vote total was 174-235, with one lawmaker voting present. A total of 38 Republicans voted against the bill.

    The original plan, a continuing resolution/omnibus bill, fell through on Wednesday as Republicans raised concerns about pork-filled spending.”

    EXCERPT: “Dozens of media outlets are reporting in unison that Donald Trump cannot stop the U.S. government from awarding birthright citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants. They claim this is the case because the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution requires it.

    In reality, the legislative history of the 14th Amendment is clear that it only grants birthright citizenship to the children of people who are legally and permanently living in the United States. This does not apply to the children of illegal immigrants, temporary residents, visitors, or tourists.

    The children of such foreigners are currently granted U.S. citizenship and its benefits under a misinterpretation of the Constitution. Although such citizenship could be conferred through legislation, no such law exists.

    A Supreme Court ruling in 1898 presents mixed messages about this issue, but it is factually flawed on multiple levels and could justifiably be superseded by the current Supreme Court.

    The Historical Background

    In 1866, shortly after the Civil War ended and slavery was abolished, a bloc of Congressmen called the “Radical Republicans” passed a civil rights law to ensure that African Americans had the “full and equal benefit of all laws and proceedings for the security of person and property, as is enjoyed by white citizens….” This law applied to former slaves but not to foreigners, and thus, it stated that:

    All persons born in the United States and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are hereby declared to be citizens of the United States….

    To guarantee that the Civil Rights Act of 1866 was constitutional, the Radical Republicans fought for and secured passage of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1868. The amendment mimics the act and states: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

    The sentence above is known as the “birthright citizenship” clause of the Constitution. Under the current prevailing interpretation of it, children born in the U.S. to illegal immigrants, temporary residents, visitors, and tourists automatically become U.S. citizens and:

    • are eligible for all state and federal welfare benefits, such as food stamps, housing, home energy, childcare, and health insurance.
    • can vote in U.S. elections.
    • sometimes serve as shields to prevent their parents from being deported.
    • can sponsor their relatives to become legal permanent residents and U.S. citizens.

    In 2009, Pew Research estimated that 73% of the children of unauthorized immigrants were U.S. citizens…..”

    Crenshaw then walked face-first into a marble column due to not seeing it due to only having one eye like a pirate.

    Other members of Congress are reportedly reeling from the blow by their constituents and are not sure what to do next. “Like, what are we supposed to be doing here, anyway?” said Congresswoman AOC. “Our job is to raise money and get reelected, and representing the people we represent is an unwelcome distraction.”

    “Representation matters, but not that kind of representation,” she continued.

    Upon news of the bill’s failure, Alex Soros — son of billionaire George Soros — posted his displeasure on social media, expressing concern that all the work he had accomplished while controlling Biden would be undone by the moves Musk was making while controlling Trump.

    “Elon is controlling Trump!” Soros said on X. “No billionaire should hold the power to influence the incoming leader of the free world to make decisions that counter the power we have to influence the current leader of the free world. Something has to be done to stop this. But only for presidents we don’t like.”

    With only a month until Trump’s inauguration, Democrat leaders warned that Trump’s age may make it easy for Musk to manipulate him. “It’s dangerous and unconstitutional for some billionaire businessman to hold so much sway over a president,” said Biden’s White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a very important lunch with Alex Soros to receive marching orders for President Biden’s last month in office.”

    At publishing time, politicians and members of the media had still not decided what to call Musk’s unprecedented petitioning of Congress, though some were unofficially referring to it by using the more familiar term “lobbying.”
