What Shall We Bake Today?

I found this recipe quite by accident, but it looks so cute, I had to share.  Owl Cookies!

Ingredients

2/3 cup butter, softened

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 large egg, room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup quick-cooking oats

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1-ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted

12 whole cashews

24 striped chocolate kisses, unwrapped

24 semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

In a large bowl, beat butter, peanut butter and brown sugar until blended. Beat in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, mix flour, oats, baking powder and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture.

If necessary, cover and refrigerate dough 1 hour or until firm enough to shape. Divide dough in half; shape 1 portion into an 8-in.-long roll. Mix melted chocolate into remaining dough. Roll chocolate dough between 2 sheets of waxed paper into an 8-in. square. Place plain roll on top of chocolate dough. Wrap chocolate dough around plain dough, pinching together at the seam to seal. Wrap and refrigerate 3 hours or until firm.

Preheat oven to 350°. Unwrap and cut dough crosswise into 24 slices 3/8 in. thick. To make owls, place two slices side by side on an ungreased baking sheet; pinch the top of each slice for ears. Place a cashew between slices for a beak. Repeat with remaining dough.

Bake 12-15 minutes or until set. Cool on pans 5 minutes before removing to wire racks. While cookies are warm, place 2 kisses on each cookie, pointed side down, for eyes. (Kisses will melt slightly.) Top each kiss with a chocolate chip. Cool completely.

    Trump was declared the winner by an The Associated Press and TV networks, giving him 11 more electoral votes and reclaiming a state he narrowly lost to President Joe Biden in 2020.

    The call in Arizona was the final undecided state, and it meant that the Republican won all the coveted battleground states, including Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina. 

    According to the Secretary of State’s office, Trump leads Harris by 184,935 in a 53%-46% split. In 2020, Trump lost to Joe Biden by about 10,000 votes.”

    The substantial fundraising total came as a surprise given that Harris was a candidate for only a few months. However, despite raising more than $1 billion, and having access to President Joe Biden’s campaign war chest, the campaign proved unsuccessful, with Donald Trump securing a decisive victory while raising and spending considerably less. 

    According to data from AdImpact cited by the Washington Examiner, Harris spent over $654 million on advertising from late July to Election Day, compared to $378 million spent by Trump during the same period—a 57 percent difference. By mid-October, Harris’ campaign reported total spending of over $880 million, significantly surpassing Trump’s expenditures by approximately $526 million.

    The campaign’s spending included substantial investments in digital media advertising, polling, travel, and private jet usage. Payroll and taxes accounted for $56.6 million while consulting fees exceeded $12.8 million.

    “Advertising is a pretty important source of information for swing voters,” explained Republican political strategist Brad Todd, per the Washington Examiner. “It no doubt matters, but it’s not enough. It doesn’t matter if you have the wrong message and it’s not delivered in a compelling way. What her campaign was missing was any effort to break with the unpopular administration she has been a part of.”

    The Washington Examiner also reported that Harris’ campaign spent six figures to construct a set for her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, one of the limited media interviews she gave. The interview was reportedly filmed at a Washington, DC, hotel.

    Despite the election being over, the Harris campaign is still receiving contributions, according to a report by Puck. With remaining debts from campaign spending, the Harris campaign is reportedly working with Democratic groups to sell a dataset of donor emails and phone numbers to help offset its losses—a common practice among political campaigns of both parties.”

    “A legend in stockcar racing when NASCAR was still stockcar racing and not a woke platform attempting to push poison “political correctness” onto their fanbase (empty seats was the result of that exercise in attempted social engineering, has passed away today. 

    Bobby Allison began racing right out of high school. He eventually settled in Hueytown, AL (suburb of B’ham). His accomplishments were many. So it was for the entire cadre of racers referred to as The Alabama Gang (Red Farmer, Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, and Neil Bonnet originally then, joined by Jimmy Means, Bobby’s son Davey and others). I miss those guys and racing.

    When I was growing up there was a guy living in our community that raced what is now ARCA. Then it was trucks and cars and this guy raced both.  Bobby was one of his sponsors and was visiting this fellar one day during the week. They had driven to a local car wash to clean some parts and several people spotted Bobby. It was akin to an Elvis sighting. RIP Mr. Allison.”

    And yet, I do believe, as I have long believed we stand before the threshold of a true American Restoration, a Renaissance and yes, a Golden Age, as the man himself put it, and while fighting the Info War has been its own sort of journey since before I first created this publication almost three years ago, and while it will continue, I’m looking forward to the time when the real work begins.

    The work of building. Of creating. Of being exactly what we were born, called and trained to be. Thus, among the many things Trump said in his victory speech, you’ll not be shocked to learn my favorite came back around to one of my infamously favorite words in the context of the War of Stories:

    “The American People have given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate,” Trump said during his victory address.

    I pegged “mandate” as the most important word of the Trump campaign before they started using it, and to that I hold, as mandate is another word for sovereign will made manifest, which is the point of it all, after all. And we’ll have years to explore the actual and mass psychological effects of that mandate, my friends. But for now, let’s revisit the recent journey here, and project where we might be headed in the immediate future.

    I believe the “Golden Age” is a story in the form of a promise.

    And I believe that the image of Trump the “God King” is both a harbinger and a memetic inversion all its own, at once serving as a joke and a vow, a threat and a promise, and the remembrance of the natural law of peace on the back of a final war we’ve been waging for the better part of a decade against the invisible enemy made corporeal to an increasing plurality that never would have spared the creatures of the dark a second thought had they not been forced to.

    Where it concerns the obvious concern of the US election system, it remains not only valid, but more vital to maintain than ever before. That said, it IS possible to have our cake and eat it too when it comes to largescale reforms to said systems; I believe Trump acknowledged this when he capped off his Rogan appearance by saying he “owes the American people fair elections.”

    (He also said MUCH more in that now-infamous interview, which you can read about in-depth below, including tantalizing comms that relate to both John F. Kennedy and the 2020 election.)

    3. Just The News: “The race to get to 218 members, and thus the majority in the House of Representatives, continues with the GOP having secured 216 as of Saturday night, according to Decision Desk HQ, and the Democrats trailing with 209 seats. 

      A total of 10 races have not yet been called. Of those 10, Democrats are leading in two while Republican candidates are ahead in the other eight, according to The Hill.

      Republicans appear confident as Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has already announced his plans to remain as the speaker while saying that he expects the House to still be controlled by the GOP.  

      Democrats have not given up hope, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., saying Thursday it “has yet to be decided who will control” the House. 

      Control of the House means the chairmanship of every committee, subpoena power, and the choice of what and whom to investigate. The smallest majority can even impeach a sitting president. 

      The Hill offers a rundown on the remaining 10 seats. For example, it looks at California’s 45th Congressional District, a race between Republican Michelle Steel and Democrat Derek Tran. 

      Steel has a “healthy lead” in the uncalled race, with 78.9 percent of the vote in. Steel, a two-term lawmaker, was ahead of Tran, by 2.9 percentage points, or 7,590 votes. 

      In California’s 41st District, Rep. Ken Calvert (R) — a 30-plus year veteran of the House — was leading Democrat Will Rollins, by 2.8 percentage points with 75 percent of the vote in.

      On the other side, in California’s 27th District, Democrat George Whitesides, the former Virgin Galactic CEO who also served as NASA chief of staff during the Obama administration, is leading a tight race against incumbent Republican Rep. Mike Garcia. Whitesides is leading Garcia by 0.8 percentage points — or 2,114 ballots — with 85 percent of votes reported.”

      About the government provided (taxpayer funded) homes (of which ONE has been delivered) – they appear to be a ploy to get people off their land, as they can’t be used in any of the damaged areas…

      142 families in Buncombe County approved. They will be in Hickory, NC – all sites must have water, power & not in the floodplain. So basically, no one will be able to stay on their property.

      The Department of Environmental Conservation said it is conducting an “internal investigation” into the much-criticized seizure of P’Nut and Fred the raccoon at Mark Longo’s Pine City home. Both animals were euthanized — and likely decapitated — as the state claimed it tested them for rabies after P’Nut bit one of the agents on the hand during the raid. An unconvinced Longo said the officers wore heavy protective gloves.

      “An internal investigation into the matter is ongoing, and we are reviewing internal policies and procedures to ensure we continue serving this core mission,” a DEC spokesperson told The Post Friday.

      But Gov. Hochul’s office, the DEC, the state Health Department and the Chemung County Health Department continued to refuse to share the results of any testing on the animals or the status of the allegedly wounded official — despite the viral disease being a deadly public health risk.

      Rabies test results are usually available within 24 to 72 hours after the animal is euthanized and the sample is received at the lab, according to the CDC. Results for specimens sent to the state DOH’s Wadsworth Center are typically available the workday following their arrival.

      The center, which is supposed to publish monthly rabies reports, has not done so since June and refused to answer if it received any specimens from Chemung County in recent weeks. Hochul promised early in her tenure to make transparency “the hallmark” of her administration. Her office has not responded to several inquiries from The Post.

      “You claimed rabies. . . but you haven’t made a public comment on it?” a heart-broken Longo, 34, told The Post of the state’s reticence. “As a taxpayer, is my life and what you caused me not good enough to respond?”

      A DEC spokesperson instructed The Post to file a Freedom of Information Law request in response to multiple requests for the rabies test results, which it has done, while a dispatcher directed a reporter to a hotline set up for P’Nut callers to leave messages……”

      JD Vance may have been under the radar as a Senator from Ohio, but he was front and center when he decimated Tim Walz in their debate. He is brilliant, has a complete grasp of the issues, is a great communicator, can think well on the fly, and is unflappable.

      Vance comes to the job with the perfect attitude. He knows his job is to do whatever President Trump needs, but he showed throughout the campaign that he not only says the right thing but is committed to every aspect of Trump’s agenda. They are on the same page from Day One. While typing this piece, Vance posted this perfect note on Truth Social.

      JD Vance will be on a treadmill keeping up with Trump, but he has a rare opportunity to learn the job from someone who is not a politician. He is now the assistant to one of the most incredible business and organizational minds America has ever seen. A Dream Team will surround him that Trump is sure to name. There will be nothing WOKE about Trump’s administration. This group will have one goal: to work for every American and to Make America Great Again.

      The stars have aligned.       A warning to Garland, Smith, and the others at DOJ that the destruction of official government records is a violation of the Presidential Records Act.  And if those records include classified information, it’s a violation of the Espionage Act. And, of course, there is no immunity for non-presidential employees.
