Happy Election Day! Elections do not always run smoothly, not here, not anywhere I’m guessing. Livescience.com had an interesting article on 6 of the strangest presidential elections in our history.
From livescience.com:
Political news would have you thinking the 2016 presidential election was the nastiest, most contentious and most important our nation ever faced. However, in the annals of American elections, that one barely registers at least for sheer strangeness.
In fact, electoral politics have always been a down-and-dirty business, starting at least as early as 1800, when our founding fathers proved themselves adept at bitter battles. Other elections have featured nasty accusations, bizarre happenstance and even the death of one of the candidates.
Read on for six of the strangest presidential elections in U.S. history.
An unexpected upset: 2016

The full history of the 2016 presidential election has yet to be written, but it seems pretty certain to be one for the history books.
First, there was the raucous primary season, in which 17 Republican candidates vied on a crowded stage for the nomination, the largest presidential primary field in U.S. history. Former reality-TV star and real estate mogul Donald Trump dominated headlines from the beginning, often with Tweets and statements that seemed outright bizarre. He insinuated that fellow Republican Ted Cruz’s father might have had something to do with the assassination of John F. Kennedy and at one point defended the size of his penis in a debate. Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton faced an unexpected challenge from Vermont senator Bernie Sanders.
Things did not get less weird after Trump and Clinton clinched their nominations. Clinton struggled against questions about her use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State. The issue seemed settled in July when the Federal Bureau of Investigation recommended against criminal charges, but reared its head again less than two weeks before the election when the FBI announced that it was reviewing potentially new evidence found on the computer of Anthony Weiner, the husband of Clinton’s close aide Huma Abedin, during an investigation into whether Weiner had been sexting an underage girl. Yes, it almost makes that Andrew Jackson-John Quincy Adams contest look like a walk in the park, huh? Just two days before the election, the FBI cleared Clinton again.
Meanwhile, Trump refused to release his tax returns during the campaign, something that every candidate since Gerald Ford has done as a matter of course. He was widely criticized for racist remarks, such as questioning whether the “Mexican” judge in charge of his fraud case (oh, there’s a fraud case — a presidential first) could be impartial. (The judge was an American citizen of Mexican heritage.)
The wildest bombshell of all came in early October, when a tape surfaced of Trump having a vulgar discussion about grabbing women by their private parts and trying to seduce a married woman. Leading up to the election, the polls were variable, but most pundits expected a clean Clinton victory. Instead, as election night ticked on, the electoral votes piled up for Trump. He ended up taking 290 electoral votes to Clinton’s 232, winning the presidency. But in a final twist, the popular vote tally went to Clinton, only the fifth time in U.S. history the electoral and popular votes haven’t matched.
The very first one: 1788-1789

But let’s go back now to the first presidential election in our nation’s history, which was one-of-a-kind in that it was literally no contest. Organized political parties had yet to form, and George Washington ran unopposed. His victory is the only one in the nation’s history to feature 100 percent of the Electoral College vote.
The real question in 1788 was who would become vice president. At the time, this office was awarded to the runner-up in the electoral vote (each elector cast two votes to ensure there would be a runner-up.) Eleven candidates made a play for the vice-presidency, but John Adams came out on top.
It’s a tie: 1800

Electoral politics got serious in 1800. Forget the hand-holding peace of George Washington’s first run — political parties were in full swing by this time, and they battled over high-stakes issues (taxes, states’ rights and foreign policy alignments). Thomas Jefferson ran as the Democratic-Republican candidate and John Adams as the Federalist.
At the time, states got to pick their own election days, so voting ran from April to October (and you thought waiting for the West Coast polls to close was frustrating). Because of the complicated “pick two” voting structure in the Electoral College, the election ended up a tie between Jefferson and his vice-presidential pick, Aaron Burr. One South Carolina delegate was supposed to give one of his votes on another candidate, so as to arrange for Jefferson to win and Burr to come in second. The plan somehow went wrong, and both men ended up with 73 electoral votes.
That sent the tie-breaking vote to the House of Representatives, not all of whom were on board with a Jefferson presidency and Burr vice-presidency. Seven tense days of voting followed, but Jefferson finally pulled ahead of Burr. The drama triggered the passage of the 12th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which stipulates that the Electoral College pick the president and vice-president separately, doing away with the runner-up complications.
Things get nasty: 1828

Anything involving dueling war veteran Andrew Jackson was liable to get dirty, but the 1828 electoral battle between Jackson and John Quincy Adams took the cake for mudslinging. Jackson had lost out to Adams in 1824 after Speaker of the House Henry Clay cast a tie-breaking vote. When Adams chose Clay as his Secretary of State, Jackson was furious and accused the two of a “corrupt bargain.”
And that was before the 1828 election even got started, when Adams was accused of pimping out an American girl to a Russian Czar. Jackson’s wife, Rachel, was called a “convicted adulteress,” because she had, years earlier, married Jackson before finalizing her divorce to her previous husband. Rachel died after Jackson won the election, but before his inauguration; at her funeral, Jackson blamed his opponents’ bigamy accusations. “May God Almighty forgiver her murderers, as I know she forgave them,” Jackson said. “I never can.”
To round out a rough election, Jackson’s inauguration party (open to the public) turned into a mob scene, with thousands of well-wishers crowding into the White House. “Ladies fainted, men were seen with bloody noses, and such a scene of confusion took place as is impossible to describe,” wrote Margaret Smith, a Washington socialite who attended the party.
Running against a corpse: 1872

In 1872, incumbent Ulysses S. Grant had an easy run for a second term — because his opponent died before the final votes were cast.
Grant had the election in the bag even before his opponent, Horace Greeley, died, however. The incumbent won 286 electoral votes compared with Greeley’s 66 after election day. But on Nov. 29, 1872, before the Electoral College votes were in, Greeley died and his electoral votes were split among other candidates. Greeley remains the only presidential candidate to die before the election was finalized.
The hanging chads: 2000

Democrat Al Gore beat Republican George W. Bush in the popular vote in the 2000 election, but the electoral vote was a close, and controversial, call. As election night drew to a close, New Mexico, Oregon and Florida remained too close to call.
It would be Florida that determined the winner, but not until the Supreme Court weighed in. For a month, the outcome of the election remained in recount limbo, as Gore’s campaign contested the vote count in several close counties and the Florida and U.S. Supreme Courts engaged in a tug-of-war over whether to halt the recounts or extend their deadlines. Among the challenges faced by the hand counts: determining whether semi-attached scraps of paper, or “hanging chads,” on punch-card ballots should count as votes.
Ultimately, on Dec. 12, the Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that a statewide recount was unconstitutional, alongside a further decision that the smaller recounts could not go forward. The decision meant the original vote counts stood, giving the election to Bush.

Good morning, Pat and Filly,
Today’s the day – and I well remember the 2000 election – besides hanging chads there were dimpled, dented, pierced chads…it was a big mess.
Since couldn’t sleep past 3am, I’ve been up doing laundry, praying, drinking coffee.
Hoping, praying for the best biggest victory for Trump in US history – and a massive law enforcement response to any evil violent plans in the aftermath!!!

Good morning, GA! Same here – I kept waking up off and on all night, partially because of the downpour in the wee hours – still raining, altho much lighter now. By 4:30, I gave up and checked the patio to find Wheezer snoozing on the chair. Breakfast delivered and he’s back to snoozing again. I sincerely hope it will be an overwhelming landslide but who knows what might happen?!?

Just The News: “Former President Donald Trump gave his closing arguments of the election during a rally in Pittsburgh vowing to end foreign wars, restore the economy, and shut down the southern border.
“Over the past four years, Americans have suffered one catastrophic failure, betrayal, and humiliation after another,” Trump said. “Kamala Harris has delivered soaring prices and economic anguish at home, war and chaos abroad, and a nation-destroying invasion on our southern border like nobody has ever seen before.”
“My message to Americans tonight is simple: we do not have to live this way. We don’t and we won’t. We do not have to settle for weakness, incompetence, decline, and decay,” he declared. “With your vote tomorrow, we can fix every single problem our country faces and lead America, indeed the whole world, to new heights of glory.”
Trump went on to assert that a vote for Vice President Kamala Harris would bring the opposite results and later recalled the failed assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pa.
“Just a few months ago, in a beautiful field in Pennsylvania, not far from where we are tonight, an assassin tried to stop our movement,” he said. “But that brush with death did not stop us—it only made us more determined to finish the job that we had only just started.”
“Many people say that God saved me in order to Save America and with your help, we will fulfill that extraordinary mission together,” he vowed. “To every citizen across this land, I am asking for the honor of your vote. As your president, I will fight for you every single day, with every breath in my body.”
“Together, we will save this country, we will defeat the corrupt system in Washington, and America’s future will be an incredible one,” he concluded.”

Get it right for once. TRUMP KNOWS EXACTLY HOW THEY STOLE IT FROM HIM IN 2020. He and his team know better than you and I do. So what’s the problem? People spent the last 4 years **insisting** we can only fix this by **getting the courts to admit the evidence** and then **charging, arresting and prosecuting** the cheaters as the FIRST STEP to fixing our corrupted county/state election systems. That was NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. Pull you head out of your ASS already. OF COURSE the same freaking people who cheated the last time were going to end up being LEFT IN PLACE running the 2024 election. The chances Trump could lead a charge to have these people arrested and removed BEFORE he got a second term was exactly ZERO POINT ZERO per cent. The courts and the DA’s and the governors and the States Attorneys General were **never** ever going to play ball in exposing the election corruption that went on in 2020/2022 and prosecuting the cheaters. SO HOW DID WE GET HERE where we currently stand, watching Trump about to COMPLETELY OVERWHELM THEIR CHEAT SYSTEMS even though the SAME CHEATERS are still in place? We got here because Trump and his team war-gamed out a plan to BREAK THEIR CHEAT MACHINE by overwhelming it with early voting. “How can we win with the cheaters still in place still doing their cheating just like they did in 2020 & 2022?” was their mission statement. AND THEY FOUND A WAY. While all the MAGA doomer black pilling social media influencers and Conservative Media Inc. shills were trying to demoralize you by insisting THERE WAS NO WAY TO WIN without mass arrests first and criminal prosecutions for fraud across the land BEFORE the 2024 election was held…Trump and his team **didn’t believe that**. They’ve spent the couple of years preparing a counterstrategy to both expose the cheating even further as the election cycle unfolded and then defeat it in real time. And guess what? IT’S WORKING. According to what many of you were told, what you’re seeing was supposed to be impossible. The cheaters are still there. The cheaters are still cheating. AND IT LITERALLY DOESN’T MATTER. They are being overwhelmed and forced out into the open **before** Election Day even got here. They underestimated Trump and his team. The Too Big To Rig strategy is going to work. And once Trump gets back in there, the election cheaters are going to go to jail. He’s 100% serious about that. And that’s a beautiful thing.LikeLiked by 1 person
Censorship and the Criminalization of Election Integrity
By the Brownstone Institute, Robert W Malone MD, MS, Nov 04, 2024
EXCERPT: “Throughout this election cycle, we have witnessed an incessant assault on our First Amendment. The regime sent dissidents to prison, destroyed opposition news sites, colluded to control the free flow of information, bankrupted its critics, and boasted that it would criminalize “misinformation.”
The election threatens the death knell for free expression in the United States as Kamala Harris and her lead attorney, Marc Elias, vow to punish anyone who questions their pursuit of power.
No political actor has been more influential in overturning election integrity efforts than Marc Elias. Recently, he led the crusade to overturn the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling in Teigen v. Wisconsin Elections Commission, which banned the use of “drop boxes” in the state.
In deciding whether to hear the case, Republican Justice Rebecca Bradley called the Elias-led litigation a “shameless effort to readjust the balance of political power in Wisconsin.” Elias was successful, and dropboxes are now taking votes in Wisconsin, a state that may be the tipping point in the election.
In 2020, President Biden won Wisconsin by just 20,000 votes. The rejection rate for absentee ballots plummeted from 1.4% to 0.2% as 1.9 million of the state’s 3.3 million voters cast absentee ballots.
Similarly, Elias led lawsuits to defend dropboxes in Pennsylvania. In 2020, President Biden received 75% of the 2.5 million mail-in ballots and won the state by under 100,000 votes.
But temporary political victories are insufficient for Elias. Along with Project 65, Elias has called for the disbarment of attorneys who challenge him in court. “I don’t think any lawyer should have a bar license for the privilege of destroying our country’s democratic traditions,” Elias insists, though “democratic traditions” apparently means months of absentee voting without signature verification or photo identification. He demanded an “accountability structure” for those who challenge the Democrats’ mandated standards for a “free and fair election.”
Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, evidently share this intolerance for dissent. Walz has insisted that the First Amendment does not protect “misinformation or hate speech…especially around our democracy.” The Biden-Harris administration has fiercely championed censorship and the regulation of social media content.
Now, they threaten to jail anyone who criticizes their pursuit of power. Their judges – likely to be in the mold of Ketanji Brown Jackson – will not let the First Amendment “hamstring” their efforts to reshape the American government. And perhaps most tellingly, they’ll censor the critiques that are most obviously true.
We have long known the threat that absentee ballots pose to our elections. Following the controversy of the 2000 Presidential election, the United States formed a bipartisan Commission on Federal Election Reform. President Jimmy Carter, a Democrat, and former Secretary of State James Baker, a Republican, chaired the group.
After almost five years of research, the group published its final report – “Building Confidence in U.S. Elections.” It offered a series of recommendations to reduce voter fraud, including enacting voter-ID laws and limiting absentee voting. The commission was unequivocal: “Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.” Yet, Elias and Harris would gladly disbar any attorney who uttered such a sentence in court…..”

Congress (?) can declare election day a national holiday. you get the day off to get your ass to a polling place. there should be continued absentee ballots for military and people who cannot get to the polls–such as people in nursing homes. that’s it.
you wanna vote–get your ass to the polls. you wanna drink? you find a way to get to a bar or liquor store don’t you?

Just The News: “Lancaster County Commissioner Ray D’Agostino on Monday updated voters on an investigation into 2,500 suspicious voter registration forms that were flagged to the county’s elections board last month, confirming that 17% of the forms so far are fraudulent.
A total of four Pennsylvania counties are investigating possible fraudulent voter and mail-in ballot applications in the final spin into Election Day. Those counties are Cambria County, Lancaster County, Monroe County, and York County. York and Lancaster both uncovered thousands of potentially fraudulent applications, while Cambria and Monroe saw less than 50 each.
D’Agostino said the majority of the suspicious forms in Lancaster County have been cleared, with 57% confirmed as valid voter registration applications. Another 26% are still under investigation because they are incomplete or unverified, and 17% were confirmed as fraudulent.
“Those other two buckets are going to change, quite frankly, based on the continuing investigation,” D’Agostino said of the applications still being reviewed, per Fox News. He also called the operation of vetting the applications a “painstaking process.”
Some of the forms that have been confirmed as fraudulent contained correct personal information such as the right address, phone, date of birth, driver’s license, and social security number, but the person on the application said they did not request the form, did not complete the form, and verified that the form contained a someone else’s signature.
It is not clear how long the rest of the investigation will take, but people who have been impacted by the investigation have been notified. The fraudulent and suspicious forms are not been limited to one specific party.
“While we will not be divulging sensitive information about these investigations, we want to clarify that the investigations regard voter registration forms, not ballots,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said last week. “These attempts have been thwarted by the safeguards in place in Pennsylvania … The investigations are ongoing, and offenders who perpetrated acts of fraud will be held accountable under the law.”

Just The News: “Comedian Jerry Seinfeld blasted the $65,000 per year elite private school his kids once attended for allowing “emotionally distressed” students to skip class the day after the presidential election.
The “excused absences” will be granted to students who aren’t able to pay full attention in class, given that the upcoming presidential election on Tuesday “may be a high-stakes and emotional time,” according to the Ethical Culture Fieldston School administration. Students won’t have homework on Election Day.
The attendance policy for the day after the election was announced in a newsletter to parents.
“This is why the kids hated it,” Seinfeld said. “What kind of lives have these people led that makes them think that this is the right way to handle young people? To encourage them to buckle. This is the lesson they are providing, for ungodly sums of money.”

Our Take: Donald Trump, JD Vance and Elon Musk have appeared on the biggest podcast in the world back-to-back-to-back on the eve of the most contentious election cycle in modern history.
Oh … and Joe Rogan followed it up with this …
Few operating at the Anon layers of the Info War have trust in our election systems; that’s not a bad thing, as Americans must be forced to reckon with the inherently unreliable systems meant to codify their sovereign mandate sooner rather than later.
That said, I see these narrative deployments as being far less about ensuring enough people in the MAGA base get out and vote, and much more about prepping the mass psychological terrain for what will likely be an informational cascade of PsyOps meant to alternatively defend or wholly reject the will of the people this week.
Trump said he needs “a mandate in the vote,” and I believe he said that not because he needs it to win an election … but because he needs it for what comes after.
See these figures not as paragons, but as cognitive cyphers to awakening. — Burning Bright

EXCERPT: “Russian disinformation is currently the “most active threat” to undermining public trust in the 2024 election, according to the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC).
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency issued a joint statement on Monday warning that the IC has observed “foreign adversaries, particularly Russia, conducting additional influence operations intended to undermine public confidence in the integrity of U.S. elections and stoke divisions among Americans.”
“The IC expects these activities will intensify through election day and in the coming weeks, and that foreign influence narratives will focus on swing states,” the statement continued.
“Russia is the most active threat. Influence actors linked to Russia in particular are manufacturing videos and creating fake articles to undermine the legitimacy of the election, instill fear in voters regarding the election process, and suggest Americans are using violence against each other due to political preferences, judging from information available to the IC.” — Newsweek

RedState: “Former President and GOP nominee Donald Trump made a final appearance this election cycle in Pittsburgh, with “strong women” being the underlying theme of the night. Trump had surrogates Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard, as well as a surprise appearance by journalist and podcast host Megyn Kelly. Kelly and Trump have undergone quite a transformation in their fraught relationship over a question Kelly asked then-candidate Trump in 2016 to sit-down interviews and now an endorsement of his presidency.
Kelly’s remarks were brief but pointed as to her reason for endorsing and voting for President Donald Trump: Because he will stand for women and men. Kelly began by referring to Kamala Harris surrogate Mark Cuban’s stupid remarks about how Trump is afraid of strong women. After relating a different story about proving Cuban wrong during an interview, Kelly said, “Here I am, at a Trump rally, a strong intelligent woman to prove Mark Cuban wrong again.”
@megynkelly speaks at President Trump’s rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: “He got mocked by the Left for saying he’ll be a protector of women. He WILL be a protector of women — and it’s why I’m voting for him.”
Kelly continued:
Kelly articulated her second reason for her endorsement of Trump: he will remove boys from girl’s sports. Kelly has used her significant platform to speak out against the transgender agenda, and the infiltration of biological boys and men into women’s and girl’s sports, and women’s spaces. As she usually is, Kelly was most passionate in driving this point home.
Kelly then lambasted Vice President and selected Democrat nominee Kamala Harris for her lies and backtracking on her formerly vocal support of men in women’s prisons.
The hallmark of Kelly’s effusive statement was her tying in the fact that in order to have and appreciate strong women, we must honor and encourage strong men. These words received the greatest amount of applause.
Kelly turned her attention to the other strong women in the crowd.
Kelly’s final shot was to rip a new one into the Left’s version of “new masculinity,” especially as exemplified in Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. She called out the legacy media for their wholesale tactic of ignoring the story of Emhoff’s past abuses of women.
Kelly wrapped her remarks by honoring our strong American men, and honoring our former president and hopefully future president who embodies that strength.
CNN’s Dana Bash looked none too pleased when her producers informed her that Kelly was slated to speak at the Trump rally, referring to her as, “Megyn Kelly of the blood coming out of wherever, fame. Interesting turn of events…” as she angrily shuffled her faux news pages.
Way to show your claws, Dana. Maybe if she did actual journalism like Megyn Kelly she might be worthy of a better platform than the low-rent CNN.”

EXCERPT: “….That wasn’t the worst of it, though. Instead of talking about the conflict in the Middle East, Kamala Harris decided to pivot to trying to convince Rahma that “bacon is a spice,” noting that it’s “pure flavor” when she received pushback.
Yes, she tried to discuss the finer points of how great bacon is with a Muslim. You can’t make this stuff up.
I’m just gobsmacked at how awful of a retail politician Harris is. Her mixture of natural vapidity and laziness leading to being unprepared is truly legendary at this point. She goes into an interview with a Muslim and thinks that is a good time to talk about how great bacon is. It’s incredible.
In the aftermath, campaign officials tried to play clean-up crew by claiming they had let Rahma know there would be a discussion about bacon.
But why? Why was it ever planned for her to “touch on pork?” And when it all blew up in her face, Harris then pivoted to talking about how much she loves anchovies on pizza.
She’s a cyborg. I’m convinced of it at this point. Harris was pieced together by scientists using bolts and duct tape. If she wasn’t, she’d have been able to have a normal discussion like a human being about something not deeply offensive to the person interviewing her. Recall that this is the same person whose office had to hold a mock cocktail dinner to prep her on how to drink wine and talk to world leaders….”

EXCERPT: “The Biden-Harris administration has a new strategy to get more doctors to quiz their patients about gun ownership: pay them.
As Roll Call reports, earlier this month the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rolled out a new incentive for Medicaid providers to talk with patients about owning a gun by allowing Medicaid funds to be dispensed when those queries are made.
Why would doctors need funding to ask these questions? After all, asking a patient if they own a gun doesn’t cost anything. But by opening up the Medicaid money spigot, the Biden-Harris administration is incentivizing healthcare professionals to ask these types of invasive questions.
Biden and Harris have used the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention to push for a partnership between gun control activists and the healthcare industry, and companies like Northwell Health have been happy to team up with the administration in treating gun violence as a public health issue… and gun control as the cure.
For the past five years Northwell has hosted a Gun Violence Prevention Forum where gun control activists and healthcare workers can mix and mingle, with this year’s gathering featuring former president Bill Clinton, White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention head Stefanie Feldman, and several other federal officials.
Missing from the event, however, were groups like Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership, Hold My Guns, and other organizations and individuals who don’t believe in masking gun control policies under the guise of public health. Even though many in the “treat gun violence as a public health epidemic” crowd swear it’s not about crafting or implementing more restrictive gun laws, the lack of interest in hearing from pro-2A voices in the public health sphere is telling.
If Kamala Harris gets another four years to shape federal policies on guns, Medicaid (and to a lesser degree, Medicare) will be both a megaphone to promote policies like a federal “red flag” law and a ban on so-called assault weapons and large-capacity magazines as well as a carrot to compel healthcare workers to get on board the anti-gun bandwagon….”

Transcript: “Jasen Bracy’s game plan is always to defy the odds. The 18-year-old Modesto High School football player is completely blind but that doesn’t stop him from going out to the football field to do what he loves. “Football is like what I breathe in, breathe out,” said Bracy.
At a young age, Bracy was diagnosed with retinal cancer. His father, Jasen Bracy Sr., said he had tumors in the retinas of both eyes and by the time he turned seven years old he was blind. “Now he’s just in complete darkness,” said Jasen Bracy Sr.
At the age of 13-years-old, Bracy knew he wanted to become a football player, so he took matters into his own hands. “Once he became old enough and started calling around to some of the local youth teams, the Modesto Raiders was the only team that gave him an opportunity,” said his father, Bracy Sr.
Doing what he loves takes practice on and off the field, Bracy memorizes every play and where the players are supposed to be. “Reps is a big thing for football and for me, especially reps because I can’t see the players,” said Bracy.
From the sidelines, his father guides him through a hearing device in his helmet. “Basically, what I try to do is paint a mental picture for him of what everybody else is seeing out on the field,” said Bracy Sr.
Bracy has been a starting quarterback and is now a nose guard with his high school football team – the Enochs Eagles in Modesto. “You can do, whatever you put your mind to,” said Bracy.
Friday night was his last game with the Enoch Eagles before he graduates next year, but he said his football career is just beginning. “Go to college and take my skills to the next level, improve and go to NFL from there,” said Bracy.”

Just The News: “Bernard “Bernie” Marcus, who helped build The Home Depot into one of America’s most iconic brands before turning to philanthropy and conservative politics and unabashedly backing Donald Trump’s rise in politics, died Monday night at the age of 95.
Marcus’ death was confirmed to Just the News by a family friend Tuesday morning.
Marcus established The Home Depot with co-founder Arthur Blank in 1978, growing the orange-clad store into a $400 billion hardware giant that became one of Americas largest employers with 2,300 stores.
Later in life, Marcus marshaled his billions in personal fortune to wage significant philanthropic efforts, from helping to fund a new aquarium in his beloved Atlanta to pushing groundbreaking medical research and conservative political organizations like the Job Creators Network that gave voice to Main Street America’s small business community.
He also became one of the earliest backers of Trump in 2015, a trusted voice inside Trump campaigns and White House and a large donor to his campaigns and other conservative causes.”

“Looking back over the entire history of our country, I – and it’s probably not just me – cannot imagine a presidential race that is as critical and important as today’s. Looking back four years, that election in 2020 was a critical turning point for us, and the damage done by the bad decisions made that day will impact the nation for a very long time.
If this ship isn’t righted and set on a new course, the country as we know it – and we as a free people – may well be gone forever. And not ‘Juss’ sayin”…”

“Gaslighting Media and Big Tech Are Trying to Manufacture a Kamala Win
This would be quite laughable if it wasn’t so sad… and potentially dangerous.”
JD Rucker, Nov 05, 2024
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Scholars, philosophers, shrinks, scientists, and mystics across time have attempted to explain the power of positive thinking. Those who believe in a particular outcome tend to see that outcome happen. Even quantum physicists have their own theories that have panned out in the laboratory.
Whatever energy, spirit, or superpower one wants to attribute to the phenomenon, it’s definitely real. Henry Ford broke it down for the individual with his famous quote, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
It works even better on a mass scale. If a large group of people can be convinced that something is going to happen, it often does even if outside forces point to a different outcome. This is important on Election Day because corporate media is in the process of trying to convince the world that Kamala Harris can win.
Here’s a snapshot from Google News “Full Coverage” of their top story this morning:
None of those headlines are accurate. The first one is particularly egregious in its gaslighting because the Kamala Harris campaign is in full-blown panic mode while the Trump campaign is trying their best not to seem overconfident.
Corporate media, upon orders from their UniParty Swamp and Deep State commanders, are trying to get Democrats pumped up so they can manufacture a win. At least that’s what they’re being told, and let’s hope that’s true. The alternative is ugly.
Donald Trump is on the brink of a massive landslide victory. As much as I hate public polls, it’s telling that the most accurate poll from 2020, Atlas Intel, has him winning all of the battleground states while being competitive in Minnesota and Virginia. Add New Hampshire to that list and likely a couple of “surprise” tight races in blue states and Trump should coast to well over 300 Electoral College votes and a majority of the popular votes.
In a free and fair electoral process based on legal American citizen voters, it’s possible that we could have results on election night. Of course, the caveat is “free and fair.” That’s very unlikely to happen unless the Democrats’ internal polling shows Trump achieved his goal of “too big to rig.”
This is why I’m relatively confident (slighting over 50% chance) that the sudden surge of unified gaslighting by corporate media trying to tell us that Kamala is going to happen is pure hopium. If not, then we’re witnessing their attempt to suspend disbelief. In that scenario, they’re prepared to steal the election and they need as many Americans as possible to disregard everything we’ve seen for the last month so we can accept the false results they have planned.
I’m not going to elaborate on the potential for a stolen election. We’ll cross that unfortunate bridge if it happens, but I don’t think it will. Every single indicator points to a Trump landslide. The only reason more pollsters and analysts aren’t saying it is because most of them hope it’s not true.
Let’s assume the indicators are right and corporate media is lying. That’s not exactly a tough pill for most Americans to swallow, not with trust in corporate media at an all-time low.
The only thing we should trust is that God is in control. If He wants Trump in the White House again, there’s no measure of cheating that can overpower His will. And if our judgment is due and Kamala is His choice, then we need to buckle up and brace ourselves.
Ephesians 6:11 comes to mind: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Don’t fear. Fight the good fight. Take care of yourself and your family no matter what happens with this crazy election. God is in control but He hears us. Otherwise prayer and free will would be meaningless.
For those who are not Bible-believing Christians, think positively about the outcome of this election with confidence that Donald Trump and his supporters have done enough to earn this victory. For Bible-believing Christians, do the same but throw in a prayer for good measure.”

PA County Switches To Paper Ballots After Machines Fail on Election Day.
Pennsylvania’s Cambria County has been forced to make an election day switch to paper ballots following widespread issues with voting machines in the heavily Republican locality.
The technology issue predominately impacts ballot scanners, meaning the printed electronic votes must be hand-counted for tabulation.
“The Cambria County Board of Election learned early this morning that a software malfunction in the County’s Electronic Voting System has prevented voters from scanning their ballots. This should not discourage voters from voting at their voting precincts,” Cambria County solicitor Ron Repak said in a statement early Tuesday morning. He added: “The Board has filed a Court Order extending the time to vote within Cambria County. No one should be turned away from the polls if they wish to cast their vote. Cambria County Board of Elections took measures to have IT specialists called to review the software issue. There is a process in place for issues of this nature.”
The Cambria County official claims that “[a]ll completed ballots will be accepted, secured, and counted by the Board of Elections.”
“The County Board of Elections has express voting machine at precinct locations to continue to allow voting electronically, while still allowing hand ballots to be cast,” Repak said, adding that all votes will be counted.
Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania Department of State issued a statement saying it is aware of the situation in Cambria County and is working with local officials on a solution. “Voters are continuing to vote by paper ballot, in accordance with normal operations, while the county resolves the issue with in-precinct scanning,” it said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), adding: “We are working with the County to resolve this technical matter and remain committed to ensuring a free, fair, safe, and secure election.

EXCERPT: “Today, voters head to the polls to decide who will run the United States for the next four years. If Trump should win, relations with the EU could become extremely tense, as a Trump administration could begin to wield powerful sanctions against countries — and even Brussels itself — it deems to be in violation of democratic principles and protections of free speech.
For one, Brussels has been hitting Hungary with sanctions, freezing billions owed to Budapest over “rule of law” and generally working to oust the ruling government. Viktor Orbán has openly come out in support of Trump, and both of them enjoy a warm relationship, and more importantly, they share the same ideology on many key issues, including migration and a pro-peace path in Ukraine.
It will likely not be business as usual if Trump comes back to power. Countries like Hungary would no longer be facing the full weight of the Western left. In fact, Trump could very well start playing hardball, issuing sanctions, travel restrictions, and new executive orders to prevent democratic backsliding in Europe. Notably, the rule-of-law sanctions being wielded by Brussels against member state governments it deems undesirable would likely be viewed from Washington as an anti-democratic form of blackmail. In turn, the U.S. could quickly counter such moves, including with “rule-of-law” sanctions of its own against Brussels.
If Germany moves to ban the Alternative for Germany (AfD), a Trump administration could move to counter this as well, including with sanctions against Germany due to democratic backsliding. Many may have already forgotten about the commando raid on a German publisher and journalists’ home over the summer. The German government, without so much as a court order, shut down an entire publication overnight. The publisher of Compact magazine, Jürgen Elsässer, was splashed across newspaper and television stations across the country in his bathrobe surrounded by officers in ski masks.
This is not normal behavior for a democratic country, and Trump’s administration may take action if further attempts are made to persecute journalists and shut down the free press in Germany.
What actions could Trump’s administration take in such a scenario? With Germany cut off from its traditional source of Russian gas, a move to restrict energy exports to Germany would be devastating. In other key areas, Germany and Europe are far more dependent on the U.S. than on vice versa….”

He sounds tired…..I can’t hear most of the questions.
“We did a great job and now we’ve brought it back to the states, as you know, [clearly abortion], I believe in exceptions as Ronald Reagan did and we did a great job – we did something that they wanted to do for 52 years…..(glitch)…..big trouble in many ways and we had to straighten it out. Crime is thru the roof, we have people pouring through our borders that are not exactly perfect. They come out of prisons, 15K, people convicted of murder – we don’t need this in our country, we have enough difficulty, so we don’t need that.
I think people saw that and it just seems that the conservatives are voting, very powerfully. [question] I feel very confident (shrugging) – you know, we went in with a very big lead today and it looks like Republicans have shown up in force so we’ll see how it turns out but it seems that they are really showing up in force. I just got a call from Dan Patrick in TX – he said that they’ve never seen anything like it.
[question about any regrets] Regrets…you always have regrets….I can’t think of any, tbh, to use her expression – “I can’t think of any” (looking around in a daze). Look, I ran a great campaign and I think it was maybe the best of the 3; we did great in the first one, we did much better in the 2nd one but “something happened” and I would say this was the best campaign.
Question: “Have you thought of the possibility that you and VP Harris both my not get to 270 electoral votes by the end of tonight?”
“It should never happen, a thing like that should never happen – this election should be over – they spend all this money on the machines and, frankly, if they’d use paper ballots, it would be over by 10 pm. And, BTW, the paper ballots would cost 8% of the cost. If they would use paper ballots, voter ID, proof of citizenship, and one day voting – it would all be over by 10 pm. It’s crazy. They use these very expensive computers – I’m hearing in PA they won’t have an answer until 2 or 3 days from now. I think it’s an absolute outrage if that’s the case – now maybe, it’ll be later but it’s….paper ballots – in France, they went paper ballots because the mail-in was not working – corrupt – and in France, they went paper ballots….at 10 in the evening, they had 37M votes counted and done, they had a winner, they had a loser.
But in this country….I’m just hearing that, in certain states, it’s going to be a long time and, it won’t even be close – it won’t even be that close; they say I’m going to win the state [PA, presumably], but it’s going to take a long time to certify it.
“Could you see a world where you DON’T declare victory tonight?”
“Yeah, I mean, I’m hearing the same things that you’re hearing – I’m hearing states where I’m up by a LOT but they won’t have a final number for a long time.
[About watching the results] So, we’re going to have a special group of people, many of whom you know, and they’ll be at Mar-a-Lago and, in addition, we’ll have 4-5K people at the convention center…on the assumption I win, I mean, I don’t know if something else happens, I don’t know what’s gonna happen in terms of declaring victory but….in normal times, I would go over to the convention center at say 10 pm or 11 pm or something but I just don’t know – it looks like we have a very substantial lead. It looks like we have many more republicans voting today than democrats, when you have a lead and you have a bigger vote, that means you’re doing very well, but they have to call a winner. And they should call it.
Yes [turning to another reporter]? Some dingbat female, apparently – I couldn’t hear her but he just should his head with a disgusted look on his face: “Just stop talking” then moved on to another question.
I was honored to get Joe Rogan last night – Joe Rogan’s a big deal, a very respected person, and, I must tell you, Megyn was fantastic – she got up and said some things that were pretty amazing, but…before that, I just think we ran a good campaign, I had good policy, we want people to come into our country but they have to come in legally. We want strong borders and we want people to come in, we want to be totally inclusive, but they have to come….it’s a big issue. To me, that was the biggest issue – I may be wrong. A lot of people said inflation – inflation is a disaster but I think it’s a 2nd issue – I think the first is the border….” the usual speech about the border.
Another (stupid) female reporter asks about him telling his supporters not to cause violence if he loses – SMDH
“I don’t have to tell them that – [“can you tell them that?”] – I don’t have to tell them that – that there’d be no violence – of course there’d be no violence! My supporters are not violent people! I don’t have to tell them that. I certainly don’t want ANY violence but I certainly don’t have to tell….these are great people! These are people that believe in no violence – unlike your question – [nodding his head at her] YOU believe in violence.
Asking where he’ll be – “I think I’ll be at Mar-a-Lago for the most part – we have a lot of political professionals – I’m going over now with Melania, who….I’m very proud of her…she’s got the #1 best seller! Can you believe that? So we’re very proud of the job she’s done with that group. But we’re going over to the office in West Palm and we’re going to say hello to the workers – they’ve worked very hard.
Question about GA – “I hear we’re doing very well there – I hear we’re doing well everywhere….altho I may be…I may regret that statement but I hear we’re doing very well.
Someone asked him if he has a speech prepared – “I haven’t prepared a speech – I did speeches last night, all day long, all night long, at 2 am we left – we did a lot of speeches, you can probably tell (holding his neck, raspy voice).
About not having a prepared speech: “No, I don’t have to do that…I’m not a democrat – I’m able to make a speech on pretty quick notice. If I win, I know what I’m going to say and I don’t want to even think about the losing part. I would like to tell all of the people that are on line (to vote) just stay on line. We’ve got great republican lines and, I’ve been asked to say it takes a while. I’d like to just make the statement that I’d like the republicans to stay on line – democrats, if they’d like, can leave, but I’d like the republicans to stay on line.
Someone asked about the lawsuits and he brushed him off with a sarcastic “I appreciate that question.”
OK, that’s all I can do – he’s still talking, tho.

My voting ground report:
The ladies working the polls–same great group of ladies as last time–asked to see my driver’s license. that was new. then when i signed their computer screen (what a joke) I asked if it was okay and she turned it around so I could see (as she had) that it matched my previous signature.
hubby was a different story, he didn’t have his driver license with him (left in the truck) and he said he could go get it. They said nah, we can check out your id another way and asked for his address. one lady said…I got him here at the same time another lady I got him here. The other man was younger and lived at a different address. We puzzled over it for a few seconds when a third lady said–Alice put your glasses on–that says Freland not Frederick.
sigh…we asked about turnout. they said they had about 141 voters this morning and they normally get that all day and it’s only lunchtime. And, they said, we had 21 mail in ballots this year which was new.

Just The News: “The co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Rhode Island chapter, who demanded Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse resign or give up his membership in an “all white” club, made a clean break with Democrats this week.
Democratic nominee Kamala Harris getting “anywhere close to power … would be a disaster for the country,” Mark Fisher told the New York Post. While “historically” blacks have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, “we haven’t gotten anything in return. To me that’s the definition of insanity.”
The self-described lifelong Democrat now regrets voting for Joe Biden in 2020 and says his eureka moment was realizing that “after 60 years, our ghettos still shouldn’t look like a bomb was dropped on it,” education systems “should not still be horribly failing” and crime and poverty remained “abysmal.”
Fisher has been a public fan of GOP nominee Donald Trump for a year, when President Biden was still the presumptive Democratic nominee.
“We’ve been used and abused for so long by that party,” he told YouTube host Kim Iversen Nov. 6, 2023. “They don’t value our vote” and Democratic policies are “basically racist,” while Trump is “going to give it to you straight” and has done more for blacks than “any president I can think of in my lifetime.”
Fox News reported that the national BLM and BLM Rhode Island PAC, a separate in-state organization, have called Fisher an “imposter” who endorsed Trump for “a publicity stunt.”
