Real Haunted Houses in the US: Final

From All That’s Interesting:

9 The White House

Perhaps the most haunted house in America is also its most famous. The White House in Washington, D.C., is allegedly home to several ghosts. Completed in 1800, the White House has been home to every president since John Adams. And his successors have admitted to feeling a ghostly presence in the executive mansion.

“The damned place is haunted sure as shootin’,” President Harry S Truman wrote to his wife in 1946, after hearing knocking on doors and footsteps in empty rooms. “Secret Service said not even a watchman was up here at that hour.”

To date, several former White House inhabitants have made their presence known. The ghost of a little boy so frightened members of President William Howard Taft’s administration that the president forbade anyone of speaking of it — or they’d get fired.

Some have claimed to see Abigail Adams, John Adams’s wife, in the East Room, where she once hung out clothes to dry. Contemporary staff report smelling lavender and wet laundry.

And others have reported seeing presidents lingering around the White House long after their administration (and lives) had ended. Mary Todd Lincoln claimed to hear Andrew Jackson stomping around. Others say they’ve seen Thomas Jefferson playing the violin and William Henry Harrison — the first president to die while in office — in the attic.

One of the most commonly seen ghosts in the White House is Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated in 1865. First, Lady Grace Coolidge claimed she saw him staring out a window in his former office, and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill says he saw Lincoln sitting by the fire.

“They say Lincoln always comes back whenever he feels the country is in need or in peril,” said Jared Broach, who once offered White House ghost tours.

Broach claims he is sure that the White House is haunted. “If I said [otherwise], I’d be calling about eight different presidents liars,” he explained.

Certainly, the White House has some of the most alleged hauntings in the United States. But is it the most haunted house in America? More haunted than Myrtle Plantation? Or the Villisca Axe Murder House?

There’s only one way to find out. Gather your wits and visit some real haunted houses across the United States. Maybe some of the country’s most active ghosts will make themselves known.

  2. WTH? Most states have laws about disallowing updates within weeks of the election, must less days…

    The glitch IS the rig.

Now they’re going to download a patch. After the machines have been certified and sealed, this new cheat-patch bypasses the security and lets them rig. Normally, they just do it here and there; this time it’s nationwide. https://t.co/KP2o5TEFmh

On the voting machines in California, Trump doesn’t even appear on the first screen as an option for President.

You have to click ‘more’ to be able to vote for him.

  4. This is not the first time Biden has called MAGA Trump people names….

10/24/20 – Biden called us Chumps for Trump.

Did he know then the 2020 Election would be brazenly, flamboyantly stolen?
Did he know about the January 6 False Flag Operation that would allow traitors Pence, McConnell and putrid Pelosi to blame Trump and MAGA people for the violence perpetrated by trained leftist operatives?

The fact that a Chinese national can vote illegally and there is no way to retract that vote once cast just shows how easy it is to cheat. Even if caught, there is literally nothing that can be done to rectify the situation.

Oh, but the individual will face charges. Yet the vote of the US citizen is still successfully subverted.

I don’t even know where to go with this. This country is cooked. If they manage to rig this, no matter how absurd, they will force us to accept it.

Lead to big to steal? Nah, they will do it anyway and label us enemies of the state if we dare object.

MI will get 8 million voters. Impossible, you say? Yes, but they will claim its legit anyway.

  7. CBS’s Norah O’Donnell opens the ‘CBS Evening News’ mad about Trump’s garbage truck “stunt” and that people are “giving” Biden any “no grace” for calling Trump supporters “garbage” last night:

“Both campaigns are locking their focus on the battleground states. Vice President Kamala Harris rallied in North Carolina and Pennsylvania today and is in Wisconsin tonight. Former President Donald Trump was in North Carolina earlier, and tonight, he is also in Wisconsin. He landed in Green Bay just a short time ago and then pulled this campaign stunt, speaking to reporters from a garbage truck, proof that he and his supporters are giving no grace to a gaffe by President Biden where he, in his explanation, inadvertently called Trump supporters garbage. This, of course, was in response to that racist joke about floating garbage told at a Trump rally just last weekend. Vice President Harris is distancing herself from the negativity and trying to drive home her unifying message that if elected, she will represent all Americans.”

Both y’all and Sylvia’s have a haunted White House post today.

Their blog mentions Lincoln saying his spirit would haunt the White House if things got bad enough in the USA. If that’s true, Lincoln’s ghost is likely giving Biden and Jill trouble night and day. Hope it’s able to haunt Kalorama too – because Ø deserves great fear and torment for his evil deeds.

  10. EXCERPT: “….The left has thrown everything at Trump but the kitchen sink and it would not be surprising to see that tried next, because, like a political Rasputin, Donald Trump just will not be removed from the game. Whatever one thinks of Donald Trump – his occasional careless comments, his flashes of boorishness, all that – the man has no quit in him. He just keeps coming back, and that’s not the worst trait in a politician, especially one who seems bent on being a bull in the Washington establishment’s china shop.

Five days to go and the race is tightening. As I wrote earlier on Wednesday, I take great pride in being a creature of reason, but I also have some intuitions; my reasoning side looks at the data and admits that things seem very close, but my intuitive side tells me the arc of events seem to be bending towards Trump/Vance winning – and both sides think there will be serious unrest, including violence, in our major cities.

    Issues & Insights’ piece continues:

Democrats have warned the country that Trump is a “danger to democracy,” a fascist, another Hitler. But it’s the Democrats who use the threat of violence to turn the election in their favor. “If Trump does win the election, the left in America will certainly riot,” says author and political commentator Douglas Murray. “They will make sure cities they believe they dominate go up in flames again.”

And they’ve apparently been considering the insurgent option for months. Jonathan Tobin wrote in the Federalist in February that Democrats “need a backup plan if the courts won’t do their bidding” to keep Trump out of the White House if he wins by “doing exactly what they labeled as ‘insurrection.”

“A Trump victory would almost certainly set off bloody riots in every American city,” he said.

Hell hath no fury like the Democrats who won’t allow a peaceful transition of power.

But the left should keep this in mind: The people who are engaging in these acts tend, broadly speaking, to see political violence as a dial, like a dial on a stovetop, where the heat can be turned up a little, down a little, as the recipe calls for. But many on the right see political violence as a toggle – with the preferred OFF position marked “peaceful discourse,” and the other, less desirable, to-be-avoided ON position marked “raise the black flag and start sorting some stuff out.”

And I would also remind any would-be rioters or looters of an old Alaskan saying: “The wolf’s strength lies not in its fangs but in its pack.”

  11. EXCERPT: “Many Pennsylvania voters are reporting that they still have not received their mail-in ballots days away from the 2024 election. Where they went missing — some in critical deep-red counties — is particularly alarming.

    Adams County

In a Q-and-A session about the upcoming election, Pennsylvania’s Secretary of State Al Schmidt, who oversees election administration statewide, was informed that dozens of voters in Adams County had applied for a mail-in ballot but did not get one.

Adams is a consistently Republican county. In fact, no Democratic candidate seeking the presidency has won Adams County since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964. In 2020, Donald Trump won with 66.13 percent of the county’s vote to Joe Biden’s 32.13 percent. In 2016, Hillary Clinton only held 29.63 percent of the vote, the lowest any Democratic nominee had garnered in the county since George McGovern’s failed presidential run 44 years prior.

    Mifflin County

Similarly, in Mifflin County, a reliably Republican and pro-Trump stronghold, there’s chatter among voters in community forums about the absence of mail-in ballots that have yet to arrive on their doorsteps.

In 2020, 16,670 Mifflin County voters (77.37 percent) picked Trump compared to 4,603 for Biden (21.36 percent). In 2016, 14,050 (76.53 percent) voted for Trump over Clinton, who claimed a measly 3,563 (19.41 percent.) The last time Mifflin County selected a Democratic candidate for president was 1964.

    York County

So, where did the missing ballots go?

York, a Republican-majority county, reportedly sent at least 421 mail-in ballots to the incorrect postal addresses. Election hawks, however, suspect that this number is more likely in the thousands…..”

    Our Take: (Video in truck)

Is this real life? You’re damn right it is, brother!

First we get Steve Bannon affirming yesterday that “politics is professional wrestling,” then today we get the Commander-in-Chief rebranding himself as the Commander-in-Trash.

It’s difficult to say which part was more surreal: when Trump pulled up in a campaign-branded garbage truck that said “LOADMASTER” on the side of it:

…or when he wore the Hi-Vis vest on stage and did a brief stand-up routine.

Thank God for TrumpaMania. It has brought the spice and excitement to a time that is otherwise somber and morose, given the state of our country. I think Donald Trump understands that troop morale is one of the most critical factors in fighting a war, and many of us have been camped out in these proverbial trenches for years, with no end to the conflict in sight.

Political campaigns can be so ugly and obscene, it’s pretty awesome that Trump has found a way to make his campaign fun and whimsical, while still taking every opportunity to humiliate the Uniparty in the most spectacular ways. TrumpaMania will go down as perhaps the greatest thing to ever happen in politics. Please make sure you savor every second of it.

But don’t let the laughter fool you, Deep State. President Trump is on a mission to destroy you, and as he said many times yesterday, there are over 250 MILLION of us at his side. — GhostofBasedPatrickHenry

Our Take: Our boy, [Saudi Foreign Minister] Faisal bin Farhan, is putting together a little team. How soon until they start calling this thing the Sovereign Alliance?

We’re having fun today, so I’m going to keep this light. Tomorrow we’ll get back into the more serious stuff. But understand that the moves happening right now are very important to the overarching plotline. The world is coming together in a very literal way to unite against the forces of evil—the globalist hegemony.

And who is at the tip of the spear? Saudi Arabia.

Just remember that without the rise of Mohammed bin Salman to the Saudi throne, we would likely be in a very violent WW3 right now. I still suspect that things will intensify in the Middle East, culminating in a dramatic climax with President Trump back at the helm.

  15. THIS is what I despise about election season!!! Not surprising, tho, that such a sleazy ploy would be used by Lyin’ Ted’s campaign! I just got one of those text messages!!!

EXCERPT: “The National Republican Senatorial Committee is bidding U.S. Senator Ted Cruz farewell in text messages and a social media post days before the November 5 election.

The committee, which is – not surprisingly – backing Cruz, took to X, writing, “Our hearts sank…We prayed we were wrong. But if you don’t already know, here’s what happened.”

The messaging of the committee’s fundraising campaign on behalf of Cruz was reminiscent of a makeshift obituary. But, the Texas senator up for reelection against challenger U.S. Rep. Colin Allred is very much alive.

“I thought this was very extreme as a tactic, and then I thought it’s maybe on the border of being brilliant,” Brandon Rottinghaus, University of Houston political science professor, said. “This was a way to grab people’s attention in a very crowded political environment where they’re being asked to volunteer, vote or donate at every turn.”

The post, which has collected 3.1 million views, features a melancholic portrait of Cruz with the words “read the classified memo” over his chest. It links to a fundraising page that indicates to those visiting the website that Senate Republicans, specifically the senator, need financial support….”

  16. “Election Integrity is a Top Priority for New-Look RNC”

    Clandestine, Oct 31, 2024

“I understand that everyone is concerned about the steal, but the new-look RNC leadership are proving that they are monitoring and combating fraud.

Chairman Michael Whatley, and Co-chair Lara Trump, appear to be all over it this time around, unlike McDaniel in 2020.

They are rapidly addressing fraud, winning cases, being transparent with the public, and proving that election integrity is a top priority for them. I’m not saying this means we have nothing to worry about, but I am saying that the Trump team are showing a concerted effort to prevent the steal. They are proving that they have learned from past mistakes, and they actually have the means to fight back, now that Trump loyalists run the RNC.

All in all, we are in a significantly better position than we were in 2020, not just in terms of polls and momentum, but the foundation and supporting cast around Trump are actually on his side, and using their full capacity to ensure his victory.

All hands are on deck and eyes are everywhere.”

  17. Just The News: “A judge in Pennsylvania on Thursday declined to block Elon Musk’s $1 million giveaway while a federal court weighs whether to consider the matter. Judge Angelo Foglietta said he would place the lawsuit on hold, according to Reuters. Musk was ordered to attend the hearing but didn’t show up.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner sued Musk and his America PAC on Monday, asserting that its $1 million giveaway violated state law because it allegedly operated as a lottery. Under Pennsylvania law, all lotteries must be regulated by the Commonwealth.

Musk has defended the giveaway program as stating that the winner “can be from any or no political party,” and that they do not even need to vote. Instead registered voters have to sign a petition in support of the First and Second Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.”

  20. “Pesticide-related PAC money surges into state legislatures as companies seek to limit damage awards in court”

    USRTK, Rebecca Raney | October 31, 2024

    Photo illustration by Rebecca Raney

EXCERPT: “As pesticide companies struggle to cap legal payouts to plaintiffs who claim they were injured by Roundup and other products, money from two political committees affiliated with major pesticide manufacturers has surged into state-level politics.

In recent years, total contributions to state legislators have reached hundreds of thousands of dollars.

By contrast, in 2016, the two leading agrochemical companies spent less than 5 percent of contributions to candidates at the state level. This year, however, state candidates received about 30 percent of contributions to candidates from PACs for employees of Bayer, which is headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany, and Corteva, which is based in Indianapolis.

In particular, legislators in California, New Jersey, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Hawaii, North Carolina and Texas have benefited from the largesse of pesticide company employee political action committees during the last two years, according to data from the Federal Election Commission.

In many cases, individual candidates received small amounts from the PACs, such as $500 or $1,000, but a campaign finance expert said that all donations count.

“Suppose you have two people outside your office who want to go to lunch, and you only have time for one,” said Bob Stern, former general counsel of the California Fair Political Practices Commission. He said that typically, a politician would be more likely to go to lunch with the one who has made the donation.

“Nobody wastes money,” Stern said. “There is a big reason they’re making their contribution. It’s not a charity.”

Representatives from the companies did not answer questions about the specific political priorities of their employee committees in statehouses. Rather, they noted that the PACs allow employees to support legislators who align with the companies’ interests….”
