    1. Morning, Pat! Glad you got some rain, wishing for some here, too. 48 this morning, Wheezer waiting as usual. Gotta make a run to Norfolk today.

      1. Morning Filly!
        drive carefully!
very foggy outside right now…can’t see beyond the yard. in our drive to NY yesterday, i was amazed at how many trees are still so green. here in the yard we have a lot of green trees, but also splashes of color here and there.
the property was logged before we got it and they took a lot of maple and oak at that time. we have a huge oak tree near the woodshed–you can hear the acorns bounce off the roof lol. that’s already a magnificent orange. the pin oaks along the driveway are a deeper red. the aspen turn last and they are a sunny yellow. but in the morning fog? everything looks gray.

  1. EVERY school should do this and all REAL females need to refuse!!!

Just The News: “The University of Wyoming, Southern Utah University, Boise State University, and Utah State University have all forfeited their women’s volleyball games against San José State University, refusing to have their female athletes play against a biological male opponent that is on the school’s team. At six-foot-one, Blaire Fleming (formerly Brayden Fleming) is San José’s transgender-identifying volleyball player. The Californian team is 9-2 as of Oct. 11.

Wyoming assistant athletic director Nick Seeman sent to The Center Square the school’s statement on forfeiting. The statement reads: “After a lengthy discussion, the University of Wyoming will not play its scheduled conference match against San José State University in the UniWyo Sports Complex on Saturday, Oct. 5. Per Mountain West Conference policy, the Conference will record the match as a forfeit and a loss for Wyoming.” That is “the only statement we will be making,” Seeman said.

Similarly, Boise State referred “back to [its] original statement” of forfeiting with no further comment, associate athletic director Chris Kutz told The Center Square.

Utah State University news director Logan Wilber told The Center Square, “we do not have further information or any additional comment at this time.” Utah State’s announcement states its forfeiture and its intention to abide by Mountain West Conference policy.

Southern Utah University’s public relations director Brooke Heath sent to The Center Square the school’s statement concerning not playing against San José State: “The Southern Utah University volleyball team opted to compete in just two non-conference games at the Santa Clara Tournament. Southern Utah informed the tournament directors and opposing teams of the decision, and we wish them well with the remainder of their respective seasons.”

San José senior director of media relations Michelle Smith McDonald told The Center Square “it is disappointing that our SJSU student athletes, who are in full compliance with NCAA and Mountain West rules and regulations, are being denied opportunities to compete.”

“We are committed to supporting our student-athletes through these challenges and in their ability to compete in an inclusive, fair, safe and respectful environment,” McDonald said.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) “is a member-led organization dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes,” according to its website. One priority of the association is to coordinate “fair and inclusive” competition. The NCAA policy on an athlete playing in a sport with the sex opposite their own is a “sport-by-sport approach,” the NCAA says. A transgender-identifying person’s participation in a sport is “determined by the policy for the national governing body of that sport,” according to the NCAA

The NCAA faces a lawsuit for “allowing men who say they are women to compete in women’s sports” in violation of Title IX, The Center Square previously reported. Fleming’s teammate Brooke Slusser joined in on the lawsuit, according to NBC.

The governors of Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho came out in support of the actions of their state’s schools. “I stand with the students, coaches and leadership at @SUUtbirds and @USUAggies in their decision to forgo their women’s volleyball matches against San Jose State,” Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox said on X.

“It is essential that we preserve a space for women to compete fairly and safely,” Cox said. “Our female athletes are left grappling with this difficult issue because the NCAA has failed in its responsibility to protect female athletes and women’s sports. It’s time for the NCAA to take this seriously and protect our female student athletes.

“I am in full support of the decision by @wyoathletics to [forgo] playing its volleyball match against San Jose State,” Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon said on X. “It is important we stand for integrity and fairness in female athletics.”

“I applaud @BoiseState for working within the spirit of my Executive Order, the Defending Women’s Sports Act,” Idaho Governor Brad Little said on X. “We need to ensure player safety for all of our female athletes and continue the fight for fairness in women’s sports.”

  2. EXCERPT: “The EPA recently announced another $1 billion flowing into the Biden-Harris administration’s effort to replace all diesel-powered school buses across the country with electric buses. This brings the total spent so far to nearly $3 billion out of the $5 billion program.

Vice President Kamala Harris, now the Democratic presidential nominee, was tasked with overseeing the program as part of the larger Building Better School Infrastructure Program, and her experience as school bus czar appear to be no better better than her work trying to fix the country’s border crisis.

Administration officials have tried to draw the distinction that Harris’ primary border-related task, as vice president, was to learn the root causes of record migration at the U.S.-Mexico border. However, critics don’t see where such a distinction exists and continue to refer to her a ‘border czar.”

Many school districts have reported multiple problems with the safety and expense of the buses they’ve received, and these involve companies that have received hundreds of millions of dollars in grants and rebates through the EPA program Harris manages. These same companies have close ties to the Biden-Harris administration….”

The Montgomery Office of Inspector General issued a report in July on an investigation that found “mechanical failures with many electric buses rendered them inoperable for extended periods,” as well as delayed deliveries of ordered buses. The district is spending $14 million to acquire diesel buses to cover for the electric buses that weren’t delivered.”

  3. Just The News: “Hurricane Milton has claimed at least 17 lives in the state of Florida as 1.5 million customers in the Sunshine State are still without power. Milton hit Florida less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene, which ripped through Florida and killed about 20 people. First responders have reportedly rescued over a thousand people stranded by Milton.

As of 9 a.m. on Saturday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that 2.4 million customers have gotten power restored, according to CNN. Tampa International Airport reopened on Saturday after service was suspended for three days.

The White House announced that on Sunday President Joe Biden would be visiting parts of Florida that were impacted by the hurricane.

DeSantis said Thursday during a press conference that the counties that have the most significant storm outages are Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said that recovery was going to take a lot of time and money. “We’ve had a lot of flooding,” Chronister said during a news conference. “Storm surge comes in, does its damage and leaves. With 16 inches of rain and flooding, the water doesn’t subside as rapidly as all of us would like, so, this healing, this recovery is taking a lot longer.”

  4. so, these meat packing/processing companies hire illegals from a “staffing” company and pays the staffing company $16 an hour per worker. the worker gets $12 an hour. AND the meat packaging owner rents homes to the workers (conveniently in the same neighborhoods)–getting some of his money back. the staffing company picks them up in vans and takes them to and from work. nice little arrangement there–and it’s not just one little town…it’s widespread
    FTA
In a separate report, journalist Christopher Rufo found out…

At the center of this system in Charleroi is Fourth Street Foods, a frozen-food supplier with approximately 1,000 employees, most of whom work on the assembly line. In an exclusive interview, Chris Scott, the CEO and COO of Fourth Street Barbeque (the legal name of the firm that does business as Fourth Street Foods) explained that his company, like many factory businesses, has long relied on immigrant labor, which, he estimates, makes up about 70 percent of its workforce. The firm employs many temporary workers, and, with the arrival of the Haitians, has found a new group of laborers willing to work long days in an industrial freezer, starting at about $12 an hour.

Many of these workers are not directly employed by Fourth Street Foods. Instead, according to Scott, they are hired through staffing agencies, which pay workers about $12 an hour for entry-level food-processing roles and bill Fourth Street Foods over $16 per hour to cover their costs, including transportation and overhead. (The average wage for an entry-level food processor in Washington County was $16.42 per hour in 2023.)

Rufo uncovered other staffing companies …

According to a Haitian migrant who worked at Fourth Street and a review of video footage, three staffing agencies—Wellington Staffing Agency, Celebes Staffing Services, and Advantage Staffing Agency—are key conduits for labor in the city. None have websites, advertise their services, or appear in job listings. According to Scott, Fourth Street Foods relies on agencies to staff its contract workforce, but he declined to specify which agencies, citing nondisclosure agreements.

    He continued:

A property search for David Barbe and his other business, DB Rentals LLC, shows records of more than 50 properties, many of which are concentrated on the same streets.

    And continued some more:

No doubt, the situation is advantageous to David Barbe of Fourth Street Foods, who can pay $16 an hour to the agencies that employ his contract labor force, then recapture some of those wages in rent…

Fourth Street Foods owner David Barbe told the media outlet: “I don’t know anything about it.”

Considering the town has been swamped by Haitians … solely for the purpose of supplying Fourth Street Foods with cheap labor, the owner’s statement to the media outlet seems a little suspicious.

The travesty in Charleroi begins with the failure of the federal government’s open borders, flooding the nation with ten-plus million migrants. This has led to a ‘great job replacement’ of native-born factory workers.

How is this not the biggest political talking point right now: since October 2019, native-born US workers have lost 1.4 million jobs; over the same period foreign-born workers have gained 3 million jobs. pic.twitter.com/Z5HVWmQ24C

    — zerohedge (@zerohedge) January 15, 2024

    Rufo noted:

The basic pattern in Charleroi has been replicated in thousands of cities and towns across America: the federal government has opened the borders to all comers; a web of publicly funded NGOs has facilitated the flow of migrants within the country; local industries have welcomed the arrival of cheap, pliant labor.

  5. O.M.G.!!! A score of only 50 passes?!?! WTH!?! Guess I know why the recruiter was so impressed with my 130 score…and why our military sucks right now! Article from January that I missed.

EXCERPT: “No Diploma? No Problem! The U.S. Navy has again lowered enlistment requirements as it struggles to meet self-inflicted recruiting goals. We’ll get to the latter in a bit. Spoiler: Perhaps Navy brass should have dropped Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) goals instead.

As reported by Navy Times on Friday, America’s naval force will now allow those without a high school diploma to enlist as long as they score a 50 or higher on the Armed Forces Qualification Test that all prospects must take. Those without a General Educational Development (GED) will also be allowed to enlist if they hit the test threshold, according to the Chief of Naval Personnel’s office.

The Navy is not alone in its failure to hit recruiting goals.

Last fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, the Navy, Army and Air Force all failed to meet their recruitment goals, while the Marine Corps and the tiny Space Force met their targets.

The previous fiscal year, the Army fell 15,000 short of its enlistment goal of 60,000, and the other services had to dig into the pools of delayed entry candidates in order to meet their recruiting numbers.

[T]he Navy’s [2023] enlistment goal was 37,700, but the service brought in just 31,834. This year … the goal [is] higher — at 40,600. The total size of the Navy for 2024 is set at 337,800.

While multiple issues are likely responsible for the U.S. military recruiting crisis, Shillman Journalism Fellow Daniel Greenfield believes there’s one culprit in particular…..”

The usual suggestions to avoid foods with high potassium, like bananas, and there were other options but since she was already 93, he suggested that she “…might want to consider just letting it slide and letting go.” She was FURIOUS! HOW DARE THEY!!! I’LL DECIDE WHEN I’M READY TO LET GO!!! I’M NOT DONE LIVING YET!!!

Do you see where I get my attitude now?!? ROFL – and I’ve decided to wait until tomorrow to go to Norfolk – the kids will be back in school! LOL – it’s a PITA with all the kids running here, there and everywhere.

  8. Checking out how the leaves are turning – no change yet on the Weeping Willow or the Weigela bushes – once we get our first freeze (possibly tonight), that will change, I expect. The Ash trees started turning first – I can hear the leaves hitting the metal roof of the patio – sounds like rain or small hail. The Chinese Elm is now starting to turn, as is the Maple tree. The apple tree in my neighbor’s yard is loaded with apples and still-green leaves.

    1. we have few ash trees left with leaves–they are dead because of the emerald borer beetle form china. you can see them in the woods–never getting leaves from year to year. they need to be cut down before the wood is totally destroyed to be usable as firewood but there too many deep in the woods that are not easily reached.

      1. This is a map of locations where the borer was found in NE – I’m outside those areas, in Pierce County near the SD border – I never realized how small this county really is!!! Ash is good for burning – burns slowly and puts out a good bit of heat.

I had a couple of Dutch Elm trees I had to take down but the Chinese Elm was/is ok, since it isn’t susceptible to DE disease.

The other thing that struck me about the map….you know me and my daydreams….thinking about where I’d want to live – Cherry county looks sparsely populated enough for me! A LOT of space to get lost in!!!

            1. the beetle gets under the bark and lays eggs. then the eggs turn into like worms and they make borrows in the wood…then the wood rots. the bark will eventually fall off the tree making the rotting quicker.

There are legitimate regional differences that need airing, and legitimate grievances against top-down controls from people who have no investment in the outcomes they promote.

That’s why political battles have no meaning for me, anymore. I was just listening to Bobby Kennedy’s problem with drug and heroin addiction, in the years after his father was shot. It reminded me of US history, which has always been expansionistic, and continues in its meddlesome role as “In loco parentis” to the world. Bobby praises AA’s 12-step program, which forced him to get honest with his life.
That must have been hard to admit, considering his public persona, since the media would pounce on it. He got arrested when carrying heroin into an airport and shooting up in the bathroom, seen and arrrested, on the way to a rehab center.

A guest post from Jay Valentine regarding the billionaire NGOs and their bogus ballots going to phony addresses. I pray he is successful in his endeavors. I pray that Tens of Millions of “real” American voters have woken from their slumber and realize just how important this election is and the dangers this country faces. MAGA

“StopBogusBallots.com to Start Posting Lists of Thousands of Cast Ballots From Bogus Addresses Where Voters Could Not Have Legally Voted those Ballots”

    Excerpts:

And they ain’t got 3 months!

The fight is not in 26 days – the fight starts this coming week – when we begin posting – for the first time in U.S. history – the list of cast ballots, ready to be counted, from addresses where the voter COULD NOT HAVE VOTED THAT BALLOT.

    The voter is real.
    The ballot is real.
    The address is real.

But, the address is undeliverable. That means the real voter did not get the real ballot – could not have, because it cannot get to them.

It’s not us saying so, it’s the government Postal Service. It’s the real estate tax list.

That ballot was voted. Just not by that person!

And we have the list and we are publishing it for every swing state where we can.

    We have the data.
We are the only ones who can present it – fully documented – with government records.
And we are going it alone if we have to – with donations from friends like you – to show what technological disruption looks like – and how a David and Goliath fight ends.

  12. True story (from the New York Post:

Former CBS News staffers are demanding an independent investigation into “60 Minutes” over the brewing Kamala Harris interview scandal — even as the network digs in its heels and refuses to release the full, unedited transcript, The Post has learned.

The long-running news show has come under fire after allegedly cleaning up the Democratic presidential candidate’s answer to a question from “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker about Israel that aired during a special episode on Monday.

Her reply was starkly different from the “word salad” the vice president served up in a clip to promote the interview shown by “Face the Nation” the day before.

The controversy has prompted media insiders and critics — including Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump — to question the ethical standards at the Tiffany Network.

“I think there should be an outside investigation,” one former CBS News journalist told The Post on Thursday. “Obviously, there’s a problem here. If they care about journalistic integrity, they would conduct an investigation or release the full transcript.”

Just The News: “The U.S. announced on Sunday that it has authorized sending a THAAD anti-missile system to Israel along with a deployment of military personnel to help strengthen Israel’s defense as it prepares for the next developments in its current conflict with Iran and its proxies across the region.

The news was delivered by Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, according to NBC News. Ryder said that this news underscores the U.S.’s “ironclad commitment to the defense of Israel, and to defend Americans in Israel, from any further ballistic missile attacks by Iran.”

THAAD stands for Terminal High Altitude Area Defense. It is designed to defend against long-, medium- and short-range ballistic missiles, according to NBC. After last year’s Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7, President Biden directed the Pentagon to deploy a THAAD battery to the region to protect American troops and interests in the region.

President Biden was asked about it on Sunday and said that he had given the order “to defend Israel,” according to The New York Times.

General Ryder said in his statement that the battery would “augment Israel’s integrated air defense system.” It was not immediately clear how quickly the missile defense system and troops, which would number around 100, would arrive in Israel.”
