I’ll be upfront about this.  I hate tv for the most part and don’t watch it.  However, my twisted little brain was awake last night prohibiting a blissful sleep and it conjured up a new reality show.  Well, okay, to be honest, not really new–just a new spin on an old idea.

I’d call it Oligarch Island.  You get all the rich, despotic so and so’s who want to control our lives so desperately and drop them on a remote island somewhere. No contact with the outer world at all.  They agree to put all their worldly goods into a pot—a trust fund—a winner take all type of thing.  Then they have to fight it out to see who becomes the “Last Man (or Woman) Standing”.  They don’t have to kill one another—just get the other contestants to cry “I GIVE UP”.  At that point, that last man or woman fires a signal flare and is rescued to become the King/Queen of the World. 

But like any good tv show–there’s a hidden twist!  The rest of us loot their trust fund, ignore the island—heck we could sink the island—and live happily ever after.

  1. You were up early, Miss Pat. You probably were too tired to sleep, after your weekend of Doing. I’m up early, too, having slept well enough. Oligarch Island sounds like what I’ve read of Epstein’s Island. Poor fella knew the game he was playing, and he paid the consequencs. We all pay the consequences of our lives, one way or the other. The legacy of our lives endures.

        1. I agree. a honey pot trap to get dirt on all those he might need favors from. i imagine he even sold some of that evidence to others who might want to control a specific visitor to the island.

        I was chatting with a old friend from where I use to work. She works for the electric company and i was surprised to see a truck coming up our driveway.
        then she honked and i knew it was her and went out on the deck to chat. she’s filling me in on all the lowlifes getting their comeuppance where i used to work…lol

I just looked at her and said “DON’T GO THERE!!!” One more half-hearted, “Well, he said it….” before she dropped it. Otherwise…..phew, buddy! THAT would have been a fight to end all fights!

    Our Take: Writing “vote Trump, no taxes on tips” was an organic movement of the people before the Trump campaign formally picked up the tactic. Trump’s wildly popular policy proposal set a brushfire in the minds of Americans. The democunists freaked out.

    Of course they did. There is nothing more terrifying to the regime than real world populism—a coming together of the people in opposition to subjugation.

    Naturally, as a result, inauthentic Kamala impulsively adopted the position as her own. Communist economists cautioned Harris away from the proposal, but the damage was done. The people want tax relief. Further, this vote in California proves that Harris is just lying. She isn’t going to alleviate your tax burden, she’s going to expand it while also continuing to dilute the purchasing power of your dollars.

    Unfortunately, for Harris, Americans of all stripes are imagining what can be, unburdened by what has been. Walking back her promises is going to hurt her already minuscule chances of (legitimately) winning this election.

    Just wait until these authoritarian demons realize we’re moving to abolish the federal income tax entirely.

    Our Take: This is why we can’t have nice things. ‘School districts…are in a mad dash to spend their remaining post-COVID relief grant money, or they have to return it to the US Treasury.’

    They got more money than they needed, but they really like money, so they’re going to make it rain rather than return the money to US taxpayers. At least, in theory, it would go back to taxpayers and alleviate their burdens in other areas…like all the wars. And, let’s be honest, theoretical fiscal responsibility is the only kind we have in 2024 America.

    All bureaucrats agree, it’s better to spend the money than act honorably and return it. Notably, if the need was actually there, the money would already have been spent.

    Further, ‘most of the grant funds were spent on labor, including additional teachers, classroom aides, counselors, tutors, reading coaches, subject area specialists and administrators.’ Again, if the need was currently there…

    In Milwaukee, the federal money was a windfall, as the district was ‘providing Chromebooks for students, upgrading athletic facilities, tutoring services, learning camps that took place when school wasn’t in session, mental health services, afterschool clubs, free sports physicals, and free drivers’ education classes.’ For Covid. Make it make sense.

    In the corporate world, this would be called a boondoggle, ‘an unnecessary or wasteful project or activity.’ It still is a boondoggle; in fact, in the age of public private partnerships, there’s no other name for it.

People used to say “good morning” or at least grunt in your general direction. Now, you get on a bus, and it’s a collection of feral stares and people making TikToks like it’s a confessional booth at a dive bar.

    It’s like the collective standard of public decorum has fallen so far that if you’re just wearing clothes that aren’t stained, you’re practically a Rockefeller. There used to be a time when people took pride in their appearance, where leaving the house in sweatpants was a cry for help, not a fashion statement. Now, wearing jeans is considered “dressed up.”

    The United States in 2024: where the dress code is “Please just have something on,” and the only rule is “No shirt, no shoes, no problem.” We’re all just one Netflix binge away from showing up to work in a bathrobe and calling it “business casual.”

  40. Just The News: “A federal judge in New York on Tuesday rejected former President Donald Trump’s request to move his hush money case to a federal court, declaring that Trump’s legal team did not satisfy the burden of proof required for the federal court to take the case.

    The former president’s legal team has asked that the case be moved to a federal court, instead of state court where it currently resides, because the prosecution allegedly violated Trump’s constitutional rights.
