Sea Sheep

I was browsing pictures and came across this adorable one of Sea Sheep.  This article in Animal Hype:Marine Life, written by Elise McDonald, details all sorts of interesting facts about this cute little slug.

From Animal Hype:

All of us terrestrial beings are surrounded by countless creatures who have unusual traits, but beyond our terrestrial world lies the world of the ocean, the marine ecosystem that hides many more extraordinary treasures. Although we’ve come quite far in exploring the aquatic world and the creatures that inhabit it, when we compare it with the vastness of the oceans, we realize that we have barely scratched the surface.

Have you ever heard of the certain sea animals who can perform photosynthesize like plants? The Sea Sheep is one such sea creature that we have very little knowledge about. Discovered not more than a few decades ago, these sea slugs are quite extraordinary for various reasons.

In this article, we will tell you fascinating and unusual facts about the Sea Sheep that will blow your mind. Sit tight.

First, let us take a quick look at the lineage and family background of the Sea Sheep:

Why is the Sea Sheep called “sheep”?

The Sea Sheep belongs to the category of sea slugs, which are invertebrate marine animals that somewhat resemble the terrestrial slugs that you might have seen somewhere. But can you find even one similarity between a slug and a sheep? Very unlikely. The very idea of a comparison between the two sounds incredulous. While sheep are four-legged, ruminant mammals that are reared for their wool, slugs are terrestrial mollusks who either lack a shell or have a very insignificant shell.

Why, then, are Sea Sheep, being basically a slug, called Sheep? While there is no straightforward answer to it, there are some resemblances between their appearances that might have inspired the name. Sea Sheep have a pair of antennae at either side of their head, which looks very much like the ears of the Sheep. Some people can also compare the hair-like structures grown on their bodies to the wool that grows on the Sheep. That is about all the similarities you can find between the two.

Breaking down the scientific name of the Sea Sheep

As you can see in the table given above, the scientific name of the Sea Sheep is “Costasiella Kuroshimae”. While the term “Costasiella” refers to the genus of the sacoglossan sea slugs to which the Sea Sheep belongs, what does the second part of their name signify?

“Kurashimae” comes from the name of the Japanese island named Kuroshima. Also known as the Kuro island, Kuroshima is one of the native places of the Sea Sheep.

Moreover, the island of Kuroshima might also have some relevance with the discovery of their species, which makes the name all the more significant.

What does sea sheep look like?

Not much is known about what the Sea Sheep looks like because they rarely appear on the surface of the sea or the ocean. However, from what we have gathered, we can provide you with a rough description. The Sea Sheep are among the smaller sea slugs that only grow to be 1-inch long. Due to their small size, it is very difficult to recognize them from a fair distance.

They have a small, creamish-white, gelatinous body that looks slightly translucent, with two beady, black eyes. It is difficult to make out their mouths, but they have a pair of antennae at each side of their head, which is quite prominent. Their body is covered with several pointy structures all over. These are similar to leaves, have a pinkish tip and green dots all over them.

Although most of their sightings have been of the green-colored Sea Sheep, it is said that there are other color variations present in the ocean as well.

The plant-like behavior of the Sea Sheep

While we agree that the Sea Sheep slightly resembles the terrestrial Sheep and are inhabitants of the oceans, how does their behavior match that of the plants?

What we’re going to talk about now is probably the most unusual trait that makes the Sea Sheep so significant. The Sea Sheep are often compared to plants because they have the ability to perform the process of photosynthesis. All of us familiar with photosynthesis, aren’t we? For a quick memory brush-up, photosynthesis is a process in which the sunlight is used to synthesize all the necessary nutrients from water and carbon dioxide. The process of photosynthesis is associated with plants. In this respect, the Sea Sheep are like plants: they can perform photosynthesis just like them.

The Sea Sheep are kleptoplastic

How many of you have heard of the process of Kleptoplasty before? Even if you haven’t, there is no reason to worry. We will explain it to you: kleptoplasty or kleptoplastidy is a process in which an organism feeds on small aquatic plants like the algae, but stores the plastids (chloroplasts) in its own body to use it to perform photosynthesis. The process of kleptoplasty explains how animals like the Sea Sheep are able to perform photosynthesis.

Sea Sheep is not the only marine creature capable of photosynthesis

Now that you have found about the Sea Sheep being kleptoplastic, you better not make the mistake of thinking that they are the only creatures who can perform photosynthesis. The phenomenon of kleptoplastidy can also be seen in other creatures such as the Sea Slug (Elysia chlorotica) and the Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma maculatum). The Pea Aphid (Acyrthospihon pisum) are amazing insects who can produce carotenoids on their own, which they later use in the process of photosynthesis.

The Sea Sheep closely resembles a house plant

If you go through the physical description of the Sea Sheep carefully, it is not difficult to understand how the Sea Sheep resembles a house plant. The growth of green, leaf-like structures all over the body of the Sea Sheep is probably the reason why it might look like a house plant to most people at first glance.

How does Sea Sheep eat?

The Sea Sheep, like the rest of the sea slug species, are pure herbivores. Their main diet is the algae (Vaucheria litorea). If they eat anything other than algae, we have no knowledge of it as of now. The more interesting part of their diet is how they eat algae. First, they puncture the cell walls of the algae, then hold it close to their mouth so that they can suck in all of its contents. Thereafter, instead of digesting all the contents directly, they simply retain the chloroplast from it and store it safely somewhere inside their body. Later, they take it out to use it to perform photosynthesis. This process is similar to the one that the Sea Slug (Elysia chlorotica) performs during feeding.

Although they live in the oceans, the Sea Sheep are solar-powered

Are you wondering what makes these marine slugs solar-powered? The answer to your question is kleptoplasty. The process of kleptoplasty, which makes them eligible to perform photosynthesis, is also the reason why they are known to be “solar-powered”, i.e., deriving energy from the sun.

In which regions are the Sea Sheep found?

The Sea Sheep was first discovered from the islands of Japan in the year 1993. Little else is known about their discovery. However, recently, some studies have shown that these kleptoplastic sea slugs aren’t limited to Japan. They have also been seen in Indonesia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Northern Australia, and Singapore. Since these sea slugs are still considered to be understudied, there is a possibility that they could frequent in other parts of the world, too.

How long does the Sea Sheep live?

Unfortunately, due to the lack of enough data, experts have still not been able to provide information about the lifespan of the Sea Sheep. However, the lifespans of the other sacoglossan sea slugs are an indication; you can expect these creatures to live between 2-3 years on average. Some experts claim that the Sea Sheep have a lifeline much longer than the rest of the sea slugs. However, due to a lack of evidence, their claim cannot be considered as a fact.

The sea sheep can sustain on solar energy for months

Since the Sea Sheep can perform photosynthesis, it is not surprising that they can survive on solar energy alone. However, not all the other sacoglossan sea slugs can go without any other food resource for as long as a couple of months. This feature of these creatures is, thus, quite remarkable.

Sea Sheep look even cuter in motion

Most of us have only seen the still pictures of the Sea Sheep, and wonder how these cute little creatures look in action.

Well, you needn’t worry about it. Experts who have spent time researching and observing the Sea Sheep claim that they look even cuter when they move around in the water, either to find more algae to feed on, or just for fun.

  1. Good morning, Miss Pat – what a cute little critter – the face looks like a sheep – but the rest of it looks like a flower!

Today in N FL weather forecast – “A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Heat index values as high as 114º! West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.”

I’ll get all my outdoor stuff done early – unloading van, finishing the mowing, pulling weeds, trimming boxwoods.

cloudy, rainy skies again this morning…hubby says we could get several inches of rain over the next 24 hours.
but the tractor is fixed (yay!) so when it does dry out, hubby can mow the grass.

    1. Morning, Pat! Cool air has moved in again – 63 with a chilly breeze this morning, mostly cloudy at the moment. Wheezer was, as usual, on my chair waiting – once she ate the tuna, she waited for me to add more dry food and ate some of that before departing.

That picture of the jelly-like green thing I posted – bet that was some kind of sea slug, too!

    1. Just The News: “A Georgia State election board on Wednesday night voted to request that state Attorney General Chris Carr reopen an investigation into Fulton County’s counting of the results of the 2020 election.

The request comes after the board closed the matter in May, but voted to install an independent election monitor for the 2024 election, after an independent investigation found that the county likely scanned thousands of ballots twice in a recount of the 2020 election.

The election board approved the new resolution in a 3-2 vote, but Carr has not received the resolution yet. The resolution states that if Carr does not conduct an investigation, the board will try to find an outside lawyer to conduct the inquiry.

“We take election integrity very seriously, and we will apply the constitution, the law and the facts as we have always done,” Carr’s spokesperson Kara Murray told the Associated Press. “If supported by evidence, we will not hesitate to prosecute voter fraud.”

The inquiry comes after former President Donald Trump campaigned in the state on Saturday, where he repeated allegations that he actually won the state in 2020. The official election results found that President Joe Biden won the state by 11,779 votes. But 939 more votes for Trump were counted in a recount.

The new request is expected to be met with legal action by Fulton County after the Fulton County election board said in May that its ruling was final, and it could not reopen any other cases related to the 2020 election. Carr has also reportedly warned that reopening the matter would be illegal.

“We will not engage in any further discussions, investigations or other action related to this case,” Fulton County board Chair Sherri Allen said in a statement. “To do so would be a waste of taxpayer dollars and time that is best spent preparing for the upcoming general election.” Fulton County said it has implemented multiple changes since the 2020 election, in order to make sure the vote counting is safe and legitimate going forward.

The investigation comes after Just the News reporting of election irregularities in Fulton County and a probe into the issues ordered by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.”

In fact, auditors just last February reported they found “pervasive noncompliance” inside the Walz administration with grant management policies that were “signaling systemic issues regarding grants oversight.”

A few months later, the fruits of such financial mismanagement burst into public with revelations that 70 people conspired together to rob $250 million from a state Feeding Our Future program designed to help poor children eat during the pandemic, one of the largest COVID-19 frauds uncovered nationwide. The auditors found that the Minnesota Department of Education “should take additional steps to verify information provided in support of sponsorship applications submitted by high-risk applicants.”

Walz defended his administration, saying there was no state employee “implicated” in the wrongdoing. “There’s not a single state employee that was implicated in doing anything that was illegal. They simply didn’t do as much due diligence as they should have,” said Walz, according to MPR News. “So, there’s been leadership changes in these organizations since that time, and we have new leadership in sense the certainly over at the Department of Education.”

Concert organizers expected up to 65,000 fans inside the stadium at each concert and as many as 30,000 onlookers outside, according to the Associated Press. A German police union chief has urged the government to consider a proposal for criminals who hand in knives to receive substantial rewards, including a year’s subscription to the Netflix streaming service.

Jochen Kopelke, the chairman of the police union (GdP), expressed his concern about the rising knife crime epidemic enveloping German cities and called on the federal left-wing administration to think outside the box to tackle the issue effectively.

He proposed an amnesty for all those in possession of a knife willing to hand in their weapons but suggested that a material reward was necessary to incentivize youths in particular to do so.

“For this measure to be effective, the federal government must create serious incentives for those who donate,” said Jochen Kopelke.

“Specifically, that could mean a year of Netflix for the delivery of a banned butterfly knife,” he added.

German law prohibits possession of a knife with a blade length of 12 cm or greater. However, butterfly knives have become the go-to weapon for many, and knife crime has spiraled in recent years. — ReMix News

This story is an important window into just how far disarmament will go once authoritarians gain a foothold. Hammers and garden tools are likely next.

It’s not about the people having arms. It’s about the people being capable of defense. This is the principle that underlies the Second Amendment — the right of the people to defend themselves against deranged authoritarians in government shall not be infringed.

Unfortunately, the Brits don’t have a second amendment. And, soon, they won’t have knives. Still, the king and his lap-parliament are giving the plebes a year’s of free access to watch Netflix exploit children. Sounds like a fair exchange.

  12. “In An Election Season Defined By Chaos, Donald Trump Is The Portrait Of Manliness And Virtue: Donald Trump continues to be a portrait of calm, cool, and collectedness in an election season full of insane hysterics.”

    Paul Ingrassia, Aug 08, 2024

EXCERPT: “Donald Trump continues to be a portrait of calm, cool, and collectedness in an election season full of insane hysterics.  Through the lawsuits, FBI raids, indictments, investigations, and a near-fatal assassination attempt that but for a few millimeters would have permanently altered the course of American history, the 45th (and soon-to-be 47th) Commander-in-Chief trudges forward like a true statesman, undeterred by the chaos – his eyes laser focused on the prize of victory.

In this regard, Donald Trump has displayed a kind of stoicism, typical in the Founding generation, that never gets overly emotional or histrionic in the face of infinite chaos, so uncommon in our age of paranoia, effeminacy, and conspiracy.   That quality of remaining calm in the face of turbulence has been a critical part of his success in the political realm, being able to withstand titanic oppositional forces that would surely break the will of lesser men.

This life philosophy places Donald Trump in venerable company – from Charles de Gaulle to Winston Churchill to George Washington – he exhibits in his leadership the apex of classical virtue.  Modern virtue derives from virtù, a term with classical import that roughly equates to power or manliness.  The virtues of the ancient Greek and Roman world stressed such qualities as morality, righteousness, justice, and courage – as well as a flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances, without ever abandoning one’s core beliefs that were responsible for one’s initial success.

At this juncture, Donald Trump has had the national spotlight on him for nearly ten years – and stands to have it on him for at least another five, assuming all goes well this November.  That longevity in American politics has few if any precedents – the closest, of course, is Franklin Roosevelt, whose twelve-plus year stint in the nation’s highest office, which followed a lengthy career in public service, similarly had a generational impact on American politics that long outlasted him.

FDR’s accomplishment was presaged by another Roosevelt, Theodore, this country’s 26th president, who likewise enjoyed a more than ten-year grip on America’s political consciousness.  For that tenacity he was justly rewarded a place on Mount Rushmore, that illustrious monument to America’s four greatest heroes.

It is remarkable to think that a man named Roosevelt occupied the Oval Office for close to half of the first fifty years of the previous century: no small feat. But what Donald Trump has endured over these past ten years rivals what his presidential forbears accomplished a century ago.  And, with another victory this November, followed by another quadrennial term in the presidency, Donald Trump will have eclipsed what both Roosevelts achieved in many ways.

This is partly because ours, unlike theirs, is a country that boasts an electorate with significantly divided attention spans. This is further compounded by our society’s deep-rooted polarization, which stand as challenges that neither Teddy nor Franklin had to deal with at a time when America was far more unified, and the world in many ways much less complicated….”

  17. While I was shopping in Menards, I browsed thru their selection of recliners – all were $400+ but they had an electric heated lift chair that also vibrated for $450. VERY nice but it would cost another $150 for them to deliver it! I was talking to an older worker and a young female worker about them and she told me about a new outlet furniture store on the east end of Norfolk. She mentioned that they had a FB page but I told them I’m permanently banned.

The older guy sat down on the arm of a nearby chair, sat back and folded his arms, with a knowing grin on his face. She just looked baffled! I told them about all the Trump groups I was in and he just smiled and nodded his head – wasn’t at all surprised! When I told them about Rodney and I posting identical stuff, yet he was always in FB jail but I never was – again, he knew exactly what I was saying and agreed with my guess that they were tracking me.

      2. When things got bad with HB and SIL in 2013/14, I was searching for a church where I could take Piper every Sunday and, having met Brook thru the Legion, I called to ask for his opinion. He told me about the Lutheran church in Neligh that they attend and we went with them. Piper loved it! Both Piper and Gage would go with me and I even convinced HB and SIL to go with us one morning. That was later in 2014, tho, and I could still smell the alcohol on their breath from the night before…..bad, bad time.

I continued going with Piper after HB died into the summer when SIL finally got his shit together. Then one Sunday, I went by myself and the congregation was supposed to read along with the Pastor. But the Bible in my pew didn’t match what he was reading. He wasn’t even aware that there were other versions scattered around the church.

After the service, I asked him about it and he brushed me off, saying it “doesn’t change the meaning” in a very cavalier fashion….which led me on my quest to actually, physically compare the oldest KJ Bible I had with the American Standard version to find out for myself. After only 1/2 hr of comparing them, word by word, I already had one full legal size sheet full and half of another of examples where it DID actually change the meaning.

He was also the one who flat refused to discuss the Four Blood Moons phenomena with me. Needless to say, I didn’t attend much longer after that.

Last year, we just put the stallions in with the two mare herds, and therefore the specific due dates are unknown. Live cover is the fancy word for basically letting the stallions and mares together and letting nature do its thing. For many, if not most years we use “AI” for breeding.

Not that kind of AI…But before “AI” meant artificial intelligence, the abbreviation used to mean artificial insemination. Jill in particular, is expert at semen collection, laboratory semen analysis (percent live/dead, motility, etc.) as well as processing for shipment (centrifugation, calculations of live sperm, mixing with the correct amount of “extender” -basically an energy drink for the semen, etc.). . My expertise is in doing the actual artificial insemination of the mares. Photos of which y’all don’t get to see, as the chaos agents and trolls would have a field day. But here is a sneak preview (photo from about 2019).

    …don’t go there.

Anyway, this is all part and parcel of the horse breeding “industry.” But since COVID, we not longer sell and ship horse semen, as we are just too busy. Our own breeding operations have been centered on creating a lineage, using the stallions we have on the farm. We have kept our three best stallions from Jade – all buckskins. Last year, we didn’t wean foals and breed until very late in the season. So, long story short – we have mares due soon!

We got home from the celebration of Dick’s birthday, and we checked on the mares, locked Miss Goose in her bed of straw, located in a horse stall, and tried to get emu into the barn also. Gizmo had other ideas, so after a bit of a discussion, we decided to let sleeping dogs lie – and Gizmo spent the night outdoors doing whatever Gizmo wanted to do. That seems to consist of hanging around the mare paddock. Jill is convinced that Gizmo thinks she/he is related to the horses, as hanging around them has become the norm. For those who asked in the comments section the other day, there is no Mr. Goose – all of her eggs are infertile.

So this morning, Olivia comes over like clockwork at 7:45 AM. She does the morning rounds, and we get the call. Our big mare, Tantra has foaled! Jill and I are both more groggy than usual due to staying up late. But we rush around, get our farm clothes on, and hike down to the mare pasture. To be greeted by this sweet little buckskin girl.

  21. Pretty much perfect! She is strong, standing, nursing, and very, very sweet.

Due to four inches of rain coming and the mud already pooling in parts of the pasture, we brought the two into the big stall. Much to the disappointment of the other five pregnant mares – who are all pretty excited by the new addition. Hence, the mares are now collected as close to the barn as possible to catch a glimpse of the new babe.

By all calculations, Tantra was a bit early in giving birth, and as usual, she literally gave us no early warning signs (waxing, loose joints, lax muscles, colicky symptoms, etc.). But there is a good chance this birth will trigger either her daughter or her dam to give birth soon also. Mares like to cluster their births so that the foals are all the same age. Who knows how they do it, but they do.

So, although we don’t see signs of an impending birth from the other five mares, we will be on high alert. That means lots of “mare checks,” particularly in the middle of the night and during the storm rolling in soon. Our worst-case scenario is a mare giving birth during a rain storm, which could spell disaster for the little one. The fact that the weather is staying warm is most definitely to our advantage. The foals have very little body fat and cannot regulate body temperature well at this age.

So, as with all our foals – according to the registry, have to have “U” names this year. Olivia came up with the name and it is kind of unbelievably perfect. The filly is now officially named Utopia.

A utopia – typically describes an imaginary community or society that possesses highly desirable or near-perfect qualities for its members. It was coined by Sir Thomas More for his 1516 book Utopia, which describes a fictional island society in the New World.

The little filly’s farm name will be Pia (the meaning of which is Pious). It’s a sweet name for an already beloved creature. As usual, our schizophrenic life seems to offer miracles when one least expects them

UPDATE: Last night, Kamala Harris personally filed an updated Statement of Candidacy (aka Form 2) to designate Tim Walz as her running mate.

Since she used Biden’s personal candidate ID number (P80000722) instead of her own (P00009423), the FEC records are convoluted. Her newly filed Form 2 shows up on Biden’s personal FEC page. But if you look at the 2024 election cycle, Biden is erased and replaced with Harris, as if he was never never running for President.

Looking at Biden’s campaign committee’s FEC record, it’s now associated with both Biden’s and Harris’s candidacies for President for the period of 2020-2022. But that makes no sense, because Harris’s Presidential run in 2020 was never linked to Biden’s, and she ceased her campaign for President in 2020 and did not run again until 2024. Now Harris’s personal FEC candidate ID number (P00009423)—which is supposed to follow her for all Presidential campaigns for life—is somehow linked to Biden’s Presidential campaign in 2020. Only her Vice-Presidential campaign was ever linked to Biden’s, but that is separate from any Presidential campaigns.

The current 2023-2024 FEC record for “Biden for President” (aka “Harris for President,” ID number C00703975) is linked to two Presidential candidates. Both are both named “Kamala Harris.” One of these candidates is associated with Harris’s candidate ID number (P00009423), and the other “Kamala Harris” is associated with Biden’s candidate ID number (P80000722). The Statement of Candidacy that Kamala Harris filed on July 29, using Biden’s personal candidate ID number (P80000722), now shows up under Harris’s ID number. But last night’s filing for that same candidate—number P80000722—shows up for the other “Kamala Harris” who is running for President. (Based on what happened previously, I suspect the FEC will shift these records in the future, to make it seem like there aren’t so many discrepancies between the names and the ID numbers.)

Confused? That’s because these filings from Harris are irregular. If Kamala Harris had used her own candidate ID number, like every other candidate in modern history, this wouldn’t have been so complicated, but then it would have been difficult to make the case that she’s entitled to Biden’s war chest. Undoubtedly, these filings are trying to circumvent those pesky campaign finance laws. By the way, since Walz has never run for President, he doesn’t have his own FEC candidate ID for a Presidential run. According the the logic of Harris’s supporters, Walz is equally entitled to any funds from the campaign committee associated with ID number C00703975. And, just as Harris felt entitled to file an amended Statement of Candidacy using Biden’s personal candidate ID number because she was the Vice Presidential candidate, Walz could do the same, using Biden’s personal candidate ID number to run for President if he wanted to. The Democrats could pass this campaign down in perpetuity, without even obtaining the formal agreement of the prior candidate.

This reminds me of a system of government that isn’t considered anything like a democracy.

  23. “Trump Concerned If He Beats Kamala In Debate They Might Replace Her With Someone Good This Time”

PALM BEACH, FL — With the highly anticipated face-to-face televised meeting between the presidential candidates quickly approaching, Donald Trump expressed concern that if he beats Kamala Harris in the debate, the Democrats might replace her with someone good this time.

President Joe Biden succumbed to mounting pressure to drop out of the race shortly after Trump soundly defeated him in the initial debate and was subsequently replaced at the top of the ticket by Harris, leaving Trump worried that if he destroys her too badly, he could end up finally facing someone who isn’t senile or mentally deficient.

“I’m in a no-win situation here, even though all I do is win,” Trump said to members of his campaign staff. “Look, I beat Crooked Joe. So very badly. I beat him so badly that they dumped him and brought in Kamabla. Now, what’s going to happen if I totally wipe the floor with her in the next debate? They might get rid of her and replace her with someone who can actually form a sentence. A candidate who is intelligent, can you imagine, folks? Sometimes it can be dangerous to be so great at winning, am I right?”

Trump campaign sources said the former president was unsure if he should demolish Harris when it could result in having to face yet another different opponent, such as Gavin Newsom or Michelle Obama. “I’d much rather face losers,” Trump said. “So many big, beautiful losers.”

At publishing time, Trump had reportedly decided to go ahead and completely destroy Harris at the debate while closing with an impassioned plea to leave her on the Democratic ticket.

  25. EXCERPT: “The FBI allowed Asif Raza Merchant, the Pakistani man charged with plotting with Tehran to assassinate Donald Trump and others, to enter the U.S. in April with special permission known as “significant public benefit parole” even though he was flagged on a terrorism watchlist and recently traveled to Iran, according to government documents reviewed by Just the News.

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force interviewed Merchant, fingerprinted him and inspected the contents of his electronic devices when he arrived at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, in Houston, but then let him leave with the special parole that expired on May 11, the memos states.

“Subject was polite and cooperative throughout encounter,” the FBI interview memo reads. “… Subject’s notable travel outside of country of citizenship includes a recent trip to Iran.”

Merchant wasn’t arrested until July 12, after a confidential human source ascertained he had tried to line up assassins and was planning to leave the United States, the FBI said.

The memos add a new twist to an assassination plot that was uncovered before Trump was shot by a 20-year-old American in Butler, Pa., but not announced until earlier this week. Authorities say they don’t believe there is connection between the two assassinations plots….”
