  1. “File this under ‘better safe than sorry. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency Thursday ahead of a tropical disturbance that’s brewing in the Caribbean, because, being the smart, pro-active guy he is, he understands that’s it better to be safe than sorry.

The odds of development continue to increase for the tropical disturbance, dubbed Invest 97L, as it churns closer to the US, however, the details of its potential impacts on the US remain murky. The system may or may not organize into a tropical depression, perhaps even a tropical storm, late in the weekend or early next week as it slides into the Gulf of Mexico. We’ll wait, and we’ll see, and hopefully be ready for anything the storm gods throw at us…”

  2. The Sun and Star rooftop café atop the Senator Hotel in Atlantic City was open year-round. The photo taken January, 1948. Postcard is from the same era…

“An article that I was reading yesterday about board games claimed that this is the very first edition of Monopoly, created back in 1906. They say it was originally called ‘The Landlord’s Game’, but didn’t give any other info about it. Anybody? Beuhler? Beuhler?”

    According to Wiki: true

The Landlord’s Game is a board game patented in 1904 by Elizabeth Magie as U.S. patent 748,626. It is a realty and taxation game intended to educate users about Georgism. It is the inspiration for the 1935 board game Monopoly.[1]

  3. “There’ll probably be a couple hundred or more carts in this thing. These people are serious TrumpaManiacs – with few die-hard libs, but they are here.

I think I’ve seen ONE Kamaltoe sign in the last week in my neighborhood, and I gotta tell ya, that guy has to have solid steel balls to put that sign on his lawn. It’s nice to be surrounded by intelligent, like-minded folks. Okay, maybe intelligent is too strong a word, but you know what I mean.

The Kamaltoe supporters did show up last weekend. That was genuinely funny to watch. To be fair, you know how reporters have problems with numbers – look at how they said there were 10,000+ people at Kamaltoe’s last appearance (there were less than 2,000). There were actually around thirty carts in that parade last week. Juss’ sayin’…”

    1. Stocking up? Still almost no birds on the jelly – weird! I can’t help but wonder if the heat has something to do with it.

  4. Just The News: “House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green on Friday celebrated the Biden administration’s pause on a mass parole program for migrants, claiming the decision “vindicates every warning we have issued.”

The Department of Homeland Security paused the program in mid-July, after an internal report found a large amount of fraud in applications for those sponsoring the applicants, according to Fox News. The program allows up to 30,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela to enter the United States each month if they have a stateside sponsor.

Republicans have raised concerns about the parole program over a lack of vetting for both applicants, and the people trying to be sponsors. But the internal report only found issues with the sponsors.

“This admission by the Biden-Harris administration vindicates every warning we have ever issued about the unlawful CHNV mass-parole program,” Green said in a statement shared with Just The News. “This is exactly what happens when you create an unlawful mass-parole program in order to spare your administration the political embarrassment and bad optics of overrun borders. The Biden-Harris administration should terminate the CHNV program immediately.”

The internal report found that the forms in some cases included social security numbers, addresses, and phone numbers that were being used hundreds of times. It also found that 24 of the 1,000 most used numbers belonged to a dead person, and that 100 physical addresses were used between 124 and 739 times on over 19,000 forms.

The report comes as the DHS sorts through more than a million applicants. As of October 2023, approximately 1.6 million applicants are waiting for DHS approval to enter the country via the parole program.”

Over the past 12 hours, I’ve had a series of productive conversations with members of the Trump’s team and I am confident he will be the strong ally gun owners need to defend our Second Amendment rights. My comments made last night were ill-informed and unproductive. I’m 100% behind Donald Trump and encourage every gun owner to join me in helping send him back to the White House.

  8. I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.
