Tiger Nuts

Tiger nuts are not nuts, but tubers with a lightly sweet, nutty flavor with nutrients and health benefits. Here’s what you need to know. Despite their name, tiger nuts aren’t actually nuts. These wrinkly little foods are actually tubers like potatoes and yams.

Tiger nuts are also known as yellow nutsedge, chufa, or earth almonds. This grass-like weed is common in Mediterranean and tropical climates around the world. Tiger nuts have a slightly sweet, nutty flavor. They’re “roughly the size of a garbanzo bean (chickpea)” and “wrinkly, almost like a raisin,” says North Carolina-based RDN Sheri Vettel at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

These nuts are also a great source of fiber, magnesium, and potassium. “Their texture is like a Brazil nut but has the sweetness of pecans and the earthiness of a sweet potato” adds Mary Gollan, RDN and board member of the Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Tiger nuts were one of the first foods grown in ancient Egypt, and people have been eating them for thousands of years. Now the snack is becoming popular as a healthy, plant-based boost for everything from weight loss to heart health, explains Mascha Davis, RDN. However, it’s important to note that the science behind some of the purported benefits is up for debate.

A 2018 market research study revealed that an increased demand for healthy plant-based snacks has fueled the sales of tiger nuts in recent years.

There’s not a lot of research on these interesting tubers, but here’s what our panel of experts say we know right now. (Learn about these fall superfoods.)

Tiger nut nutrition basics

Nuts are known as a great source of plant-based protein. But what about tubers such as tiger nuts?

“Tubers are vegetables that grow underground attached to the root of the plant and are usually high in starch,” says Melissa Kathryn, RD, a certified holistic nutritionist. She points out that tiger nuts are loaded with fiber and a great source of resistant starch—a kind of carbohydrate that is difficult to digest and can actually help feed healthy bacteria in the large intestine. “They also have complex carbs, which provide energy for the body to function,” says Kathryn.

Tiger nuts are starchy like potatoes but have a similar fiber content to almonds. The fat and protein content is lower than typical tree nuts such as almonds, cashews, or hazelnuts.

“They provide a great number of nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, zinc, and vitamins E, C, and folic acid,” says Kathyrn. While you might not get enough of these micronutrients from one handful of tiger nuts, eating them regularly could help you get enough of these vitamins and minerals over time.

The health benefits of tiger nuts

Tiger nuts are packed with resistant starch, fiber, and micronutrients, such as magnesium and potassium. In theory, consuming these nutrients should result in better health. However, research on the direct health benefits of tiger nuts is still limited—at least in humans, anyway. Most research on tiger nuts has been animal or cell studies.

KaNisha L. Hall, MD, physician and wellness coach in Houston, says that although the vegan snack has grown in popularity there is little concrete and reproducible data to support that the actual health benefits are greater than placebo. “Based on the fiber content, claims have been made that it improves digestion and glucose levels. The antioxidants are suggested to prevent harm from free radicals and furthermore prevent heart disease and cancer. Some sources have also claimed the food to be an aphrodisiac,” she says. However, Dr. Hall cautions that “credible research has not supported these findings.”

Tiger nuts may ease constipation

Gollan, Kathryn, and Vettel agree that tiger nuts could help make your bowel movements smoother and easier, relieving constipation. Constipation is usually a clear sign that you’re not eating enough fiber. According to Gollan, the combination of fiber and magnesium “keep our bowels regular and happy.” Kathryn adds that tiger nuts are a good source of insoluble fiber in particular, which is known to add bulk to stools and help clean out the intestinal tract.

Tiger nuts may be an aphrodisiac

Historically, people sometimes have eaten tiger nuts to improve sexual performance. But despite claims in the Middle East and parts of Africa that this snack increases men’s sexual arousal, there is no scientific data to support this claim. In one animal study published in BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies, male rats that received doses of raw tiger nut powder did engage in more frequent sexual activity than rats without tiger nut powder. However, there’s still a lack of evidence when it comes to linking tiger nuts to human libido.

Tiger nuts may help your heart

“Beyond the tiger nuts’ contribution to a healthy gut, they are also high in iron as well as healthy fats, specifically monounsaturated fatty acids,” says Vettel. “These types of fats, also found in healthy foods such as avocado, olive oil, and nuts such as almonds and walnuts, are known to lower cholesterol and promote heart health.” A 2018 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition also found that plant-based monounsaturated fatty acids are particularly helpful for reducing the risk of heart disease in both men and women.

Tiger nuts could aid weight loss

While tiger nuts will not directly improve your body’s ability to burn fat, they can be a healthy snack for those trying to lose weight. That’s because of their high percentage of insoluble dietary fiber. According to a tiger nut review published in Comprehensive Reviews of Food Science and Food Safety, “The intake of this kind of fiber is linked to a sensation of satiety since the fiber absorbs water and takes up space in the stomach and diminishes the need to consume more food.” So, eating tiger nuts has the potential to help you feel fuller, reducing cravings, and encouraging you to eat fewer calories.

Beware the side effects of too much fiber

When it comes to excess fiber consumption, our experts do caution against adding too many tiger nuts to your diet all at once.

“Tiger nuts are quite high in fiber at 10 grams per 1 ounce serving. For this reason, they should be added to the diet gradually to assess tolerance and reduce the risk of any digestive issues. It’s also important to note that some individuals may have allergies to tiger nuts, including those who are allergic to pollen,” says Vettel.

Gollan adds that getting bloated or gassy after eating tiger nuts is probably an indication that you’re not getting enough daily fiber. “Any food that contains a high amount of fiber may cause bloating and flatulence,” she says. “If you start eating more fiber-rich foods regularly, you will lessen your chance of experiencing these symptoms.”

Tiger nuts are an allergy-friendly snack

Nutritionists agree that tiger nut products offer a variety of options for people who have food allergies, including gluten, dairy, and nuts.

“Tiger nut milk is a good non-dairy alternative and can add a semi-sweet flavor to the products you use it in,” says Gollan.

“Tiger nut flour is also very popular in gluten- and grain-free baking, as the consistency is very similar to other nut flours. This kind of flour is made by roasting the nuts first and then grinding them into a fine powder,” Vettel adds. “They are similar in size and taste to actual nuts, makes them a wonderful option for those with nut allergies, or for those following dietary approaches where nuts aren’t recommended.” For example, these dietary approaches may include an autoimmune dietary protocol or following a low histamine diet.

How to eat tiger nuts

It’s safe to eat raw tiger nuts, though they can also be cooked, baked into desserts, or made into tiger nut milk. You can boost their antioxidant levels by roasting them before eating to improve the absorption of nutrients. You can germinate, or grow them too.

“Keep in mind that they tend to be softer and much easier to chew when they have been soaked or boiled in water,” Davis says. “Soaking or roasting tiger nuts prior to eating can boost their antioxidant levels and improve your body’s ability to absorb the nutrients.”

Gollan says she enjoys tiger nuts roasted in the oven with cinnamon, while Vettel uses tiger nuts as a crunchy topping on yogurt or smoothie bowls. Kathryn adds that they’re a great, easy snack to have on the go whenever hunger pangs strike.

  1. Morning All…bringing this from last evening

    okay…nobody’s probably here anymore…but weird things…
we lost power for a brief moment–seriously–like a hiccup.
everything comes back on–but MY internet—hubby has it…I do not.
then i get internet back–but the ONLY site that I can open is tcth. not yahoo, none of the other wp sites…not cfp, nothing.

we went grocery shopping and were on the highway when a LARGE military looking plane appears in the sky. coming from the “south” moving north and the closer it get, the larger it looks.

we get back home and everything is fine again.

will copy this into tomorrow’s comment section.

  2. GOOD MORNING, Miss Pat and Filly!

Today is my last day home. In the morning, will be heading back to the Village for the weekend. Last week was tough. Sally Q was emotionally as Shakespeare wrote – like a Summer’s day – a typical N FL one – sun, heat, clouds building, thunder, lightning, rain….

While here, got a the yard, laundry, and a few chores done. Going to try to get some more done today, then pack the car this evening, and be ready to leave early in the morning. Will park my van, and immediately pick up Sally’s Dad in the wheelchair van and take him to the county seat and we will do a few errands, pick up groceries, then come back and unload my van for the weekend.

Hope you two truth warriors have a great day!!!

      1. It’s been great. It was good to get away from Sally. Really good!!! She has an appt today with the new Village doctor to get a new Rx for her SNRA Effexor medication. She’s become unreasonable, irrational, unmanageable, hostile to her Dad and expecially to me, but even to her caregiver. Telling her no gets a volcanic eruption for sure. We have learned to get her to a safe stopping place and go elsewhere for a while and let her stew in her juices. We don’t let her up on her lift when she’s having a tantrum, because she’s liable to fall out like she did when she broke both femurs. I haven’t yet designed a way to harness her upper body in, so she can’t fall out of it. Everything I’ve tried so far doesn’t work.

when we visit my mom, because she lives alone with few visitors, she talks non stop–even if she tells you the same story ten times over…lol.
but i love her and so i smile and nod and act surprised with every retelling of the story.
the 4 hour ride home with hubby is pure silence. we don’t even listen to the radio.
          you are a saint GA!

        2. We just had a little interesting happenstance – while Sally was at the clinic, waiting to see the doctor – her CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) caregiver sent me this Pub Med reference – also see the cited studies.

          Citalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, improves symptoms of Friedreich’s ataxia. Rohr A, Eichler K, Hafezi-Moghadam N. Pharmacopsychiatry. 1999 May;32(3):113-4. doi: 10.1055/s-2007-979205. PMID: 10463380

So we are going to try it for a while if the doctor thinks it’s a good idea. I called her Dad and read it to him and he approves too.

            1. We didn’t clear this with the heart Dr. Hope it doesn’t do anything to her heart rhythm.
They walked home from the clinic at NOON in N FL – temp 90 – heat index 104 – Sally got overheated and went into Afib! Her Dad is still trying to bring it down. I didn’t know getting hot would throw her into rapid heart rate. And her aide didn’t either, I guess. We have the meds to bring it down, but still – they were stupid to walk home in the heat/humidity/hot sun. It’s a mile from the clinic to her apt.

  3. Got up about an hour ago – turned on the patio light, no sign of Wheezer, but I figured she was nearby, watching – sure enough, about 5 minutes later, Jake is at the door growling, which told me she was there. Yep, crouched down, waiting for her tuna! She won’t even wait for me to mix it with the dry food left in the bowl – she’s trying to eat while I’m still dishing out the tuna! LOL

      1. Yep, my cat, Spaz, used to do that – he was a real shit-head! If I was going to be gone for a couple of days, I would leave dry food out for him and he would eat it, no problem. But if I tried to do that when I was home (I normally mixed canned food with the dry), he would go eat a bunch of dry food then find me and upchuck all of it at my feet. Talk about a cat with an attitude!!! LOL

Former Paypal CEO Announces He is Switching Parties, Will Back Donald Trump in November
    His message on X:

I am crossing the Rubicon and backing the Republican Party and President Trump.

Many — including a former version of myself — get trapped in a mental framework that becomes their identity and prevents them from radically evolving their thinking with new facts and information. I finally broke free from it.

My journey has been a gradual political 180 from where I stood in every previous election. It has been an eye-opening process of disenchantment, zero-basing lifelong beliefs, and rebuilding from there.

In 2017, a good friend enlisted me to pitch the DNC to raise $100M from Silicon Valley founders and executives. The aim was to use these funds and know-how to build a CRM and tech platform to prevent a repeat of Hillary Clinton’s inadequate, outdated 2016 campaign. We met with DNC leadership, who told us we could raise that money, but it would have to go to the general fund; a single-digit percentage would then be allocated to tech. In the wake of one of their most shocking failures, they didn’t want the help.

The next series of realizations began in 2019 while I was at Meta, right after we announced the Libra white paper. I testified before the Senate and the House and subsequently spent significant time in DC, engaging with lawmakers, cabinet members, regulators, and two White House administrations. At the time, I still believed the mainstream idea that Democrats were all about serving the People. However, I was shocked to learn that, for the most part, Republicans cared more deeply about their constituents, while Democrats, in my experience, cared more about government power and control. This is my observation on balance, with many stories to back it up. I also found that more Republicans wanted to understand our project’s goals and took the time to learn about the risks of censoring payments and controlling the network. I found myself remarkably aligned with them.

Then COVID came, revealing more. While I don’t subscribe to the most malicious vaccine conspiracy theories, I do take offense at the censorship machine put in place to hide the origin of the virus from the NIH-funded Wuhan lab and all dissenting voices on vaccinations and lockdowns. At that time, I fully appreciated why Republicans value freedom of speech and preventing censorship.

This trend of spinning and manufacturing a parallel reality to serve the Dem agenda, solidified by complicit mainstream media, hit home with the Hunter Biden laptop story, the coordinated vilification of President Trump and his followers, and President Biden’s cognitive decline — depriving voters of a voice in a proper primary. These examples displayed the hubris of the current Dem leadership. You must think the American people are fools to believe the spin on these issues. I despise this elite vs. general population ideology viscerally.

This version of the Democratic Party is sidelining moderates and centrists and has adopted an increasingly leftist ideology. This drift to the left has dictated policies from which I’ve found myself estranged.

On the domestic front, there has been a total departure from the core American value system of meritocracy, an extreme and weaponized DEI agenda, an open door to massive illegal immigration, and a once-fringe narrative, now mainstream within the party, of vilifying success. This shift is also causing us to fall behind due to an anti-innovation regulatory climate, notably on crypto and soon AI — two non-linear technological breakthroughs that will likely determine tomorrow’s leading countries.

On foreign policy, the administration is exacerbating tensions with Russia through an aggressive NATO expansion narrative focused on Ukraine and prolonging an unwinnable war. This is costing American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars, the world hundreds of thousands of lives, depleting the U.S. military arsenal and risking World War III. On Iran, this administration is continuing a misguided Obama-era plan to bring Iran closer to the West by unfreezing Trump-era sanctions, thus giving the Mollahs’ regime the ability to fund terrorism and pursue its anti-America, anti-Israel, and anti-Jewish agenda. The withdrawal from Afghanistan was also handled disastrously. We’re leaving a door open for China to invade Taiwan by coming across as weak. Most importantly to me, concerning Israel, the administration is enabling Iran to fund Hamas and Hezbollah, restraining Israel in its fight against its enemies, thus prolonging another conflict, which is costing more lives on both sides and allowing unprecedented levels of antisemitism to rise at home.

I believe we need a President who is unequivocally pro: America, the Constitution, business, Bitcoin/crypto, innovation, Israel, small government, legal immigration, free speech, meritocracy, and common sense — and anti: regulatory proliferation, illegal immigration, unjust wars, Iran’s current regime, and domestic groups that oppose American values. These issues are central to President Trump’s platform.

Naturally, I disagree with President Trump and the GOP on some issues, particularly women’s reproductive rights. While I’ve come to learn that extreme views exist in both parties, I firmly believe that women should have the unalienable right to make their own decisions on this polarizing topic. President Trump confirmed he was against a national abortion ban and supported the Supreme Court’s decision on maintaining access to mifepristone, which was reassuring and a sign that the party was moving closer to the center.

It’s impossible to close this post without mentioning President Trump’s recent assassination attempt. The courage and resolve he displayed seconds after being hit by a bullet was awe-inspiring for his followers and detractors alike. This was a man, however imperfect, who, at that moment, incarnated the American spirit in the most vivid way, starting to bring a split nation together.

Some claim that reelecting President Trump will bring our democracy to its knees. However, the alternative — having unelected individuals with this much power and no accountability run our government coupled with four more years of bad policies at home and abroad — might present a more significant threat. Neither will likely change in a Harris administration and could potentially worsen.

In this pivotal moment, confronted with the choices we have, I am endorsing and supporting a return to a Republican administration in 2025.

  5. EXCERPT: “After a gunman shot up the White House a decade ago, exposing vulnerabilities at one of America’s iconic landmarks, lawmakers in Congress got an unexpected second dose of bad news.

“The Secret Service did not identify best practices and lessons learned from the 2011 White House shooting incident,” the Homeland Security Department inspector general wrote in a stinging 2016 report that warned that an agency with a zero failure mission failed to learn from one of its high-profile setbacks.

Now eight years later, with the Secret Service once again reeling from a spectacular failure, the same watchdog office is about to drop a fresh bombshell certain to impact the investigation into the near assassination of former President Donald Trump.

Congress was briefed this week that months before the assassination attempt on Trump, Secret Service managers were warned by the Homeland inspector general about serious deficiencies, including communication woes with local police partners and inadequate training for agents who conducted security sweeps at events for protectees, sources told Just the News on Wednesday night.

The concerns flagged by Homeland Security Department Inspector General Joseph V. Cuffari were related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot but involve issues that have also been raised in the Secret Service’s failures to stop a gunman from wounding Trump at a Butler, Pa., rally on July 13, the congressional aides said.

Some of the concerns could be made public as early as Thursday when Cuffari’s staff is expected to release to Congress a heavily redacted report that was completed in April and titled “USSS Preparation for and Response to the Events of January 6, 2021,” the aides said, speaking only on condition of anonymity because they weren’t permitted to talk to news media….”

  6. Just The News: “Abe Hamadeh narrowly defeated his biggest rival Blake Masters in the Republican primaries for Arizona’s eighth Congressional district.

Hamadeh, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump alongside Masters, secured 29.8 percent of the vote according to the Associated Press, and will face Gregory Whitten in November. Masters came in second with 25.3 percent of the vote.

The candidates are running to replace Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., who is not seeking reelection. Hamadeh previously ran for state attorney general in 2022, but lost to Democrat Kris Mayes.

Hamadeh claimed victory on Wednesday night, nearly 24 hours after polls had closed, and thanked people for their support.

“They underestimated me because they underestimate the American people. We are stronger than they can ever even imagine,” Hamadeh posted to X. “Thank you Arizona, the grassroots, Kari Lake, President Trump, and so many others who had my back. The good guys still have a shot… let’s roll.”

Trump endorsed both Masters and Hamadeh over the weekend, despite initially endorsing Hamadeh in December, claiming both are “true warrior[s]” who will work to help grow the economy, stop inflation, secure the border, and end migrant crime.

“Blake Masters is a very successful businessman, and an incredibly strong supporter of our Movement to Make America Great Again – He is smart and tough! Likewise, Abe Hamadeh, a Veteran, former prosecutor, and fearless fighter for Election Integrity, has been with me all the way!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“They will both be spectacular, and I’m pleased to announce that both Blake Masters and Abe Hamadeh have my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Congressman of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District,” he added.”

      1. ENTIRE ARTICLE: “When Capt. Sam Brown was injured in Afghanistan, he saw everything he had planned for his future disappear. Little did he know that what he went through, in fact, helped him discover one part of his life he thought he would never find.

“I had plans for my career and decided a few years after that I would find a beautiful woman and settle down and start a family,” Brown said. “I thought that was all gone after I got injured.”

In September 2008, Brown was conducting route security in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He and his Soldiers began receiving indirect fire, which quickly changed to direct fire, coming at them from different directions. As he went to help the men in the M1151 humvees in front of him, Brown entered an enemy engagement area. It was there that he was struck by an improvised explosive device.

“It was crazy for about the next 15 or 20 minutes. You know, the 1151 is on fire, I’m on fire,” he said. Brown suffered third degree burns to 30 percent of his body – mostly places his individual body armor did not cover – and lost his left index finger in the accident. He was evacuated and, once in the United States, was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas; BAMC is a level I trauma center and home to the Army Burn Center.

The doctors at the hospital began treating Brown from the moment he arrived. He began a series of surgeries to repair his charred flesh using skin grafts from other areas of his body. He said although 30 percent of his body was actually burned, about 85 percent of his body has been affected because they used skin from areas that were not burned.

“I’ve had 15 surgeries so far, and will have another one to gain more range of motion in my hand,” Brown said. “My recovery may be up to two years away.” During his treatment, Brown was assigned a dietitian since burn victims tend to have fluctuating weight-gain after their injuries.

Enter, then 1st Lt., Amy Larsen. In November 2008, she began working with Brown during his recovery. When he was well enough to take convalescent leave, she knew it would be a problem for him to carry a multitude of supplements with him. She arranged to have them shipped to him, and called every week to make sure they arrived.

“When she’d call, I would try to make small talk with her but she was all business,” Brown said.

Although both admit they had “crushes” on each other, developing any sort of relationship seemed to be at a standstill. It wasn’t until Brown returned for a surgery that he talked to another physician’s assistant about stopping by to say hello to her. Brown was in luck because that particular PA worked in the same office as Amy.

As a friendship developed, so did the potential for a more intimate relationship, which wasn’t too far behind. “Sam asked me to a rodeo for our first date. I had to make sure it was OK professionally to do that,” she said. “We ended up going and I had a great time.”

Larsen turned over Brown’s care to another dietitian, and the two continued their relationship. “We started dating in March, one month later we were engaged and we married in May,” Brown explained. Amy Larsen became Amy Brown, now a captain. “It seems fast, but we talked a lot about it. We knew God would be the center of our relationship and that was the most important thing,” she explained.

Brown added that he wouldn’t suggest getting married so fast unless you know it is true.

A few months following the wedding, Amy was called on to deploy to Contingency Operating Base Speicher to serve as a dietitian for most of the northern United States bases in Iraq. She left San Antonio in October, but was reunited with her husband on Dec. 28 thanks to Operation Proper Exit, a program designed to help bring closure to servicemembers seriously injured while deployed.

Even though he was injured in Afghanistan, Brown participated in the program because he said he wanted the chance to talk to troops about his experiences. He is also planning to serve as a military mentor when Operation Proper Exit is able to return wounded warriors to Afghanistan.

“I don’t think I’ll be putting my kit on and running around with Soldiers like I was, but I want to get back and feel productive. I want to help others and do something positive,” he said.

Brown said he has come to accept that fact that the hopes he once had for his career as a Ranger may not be possible. However, the dream to settle down with a beautiful wife is one he’s already reached.

Together, they will build new dreams of their own.”

  7. Personally, I think they should die from the same method that was used on their victims and a LOT more death penalties need to be utilized!!!

Just The News: “The South Carolina Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that the death penalty by firing squad or electrocution is not considered cruel and unusual punishment if the death row inmate requests it.

The state passed a law that allowed the methods in 2021, after there was a shortage in South Carolina of lethal injection drugs, along with lethal injection. It is now one of five states that allow execution by firing squad, and one of eight to allow electrocution, The Hill reported.

The 2021 law was temporarily halted after death row inmates sued the state over the change, but death by electrocution became the default form of execution when the state could not find a reliable source for the lethal injection drugs.

“[The 2021 law was a] sincere effort to make the death penalty less inhumane while enabling the state to carry out its laws,” Justice John Few wrote in the majority decision. “The inescapable reality that an execution by any method may not go as planned — that it will be ‘botched’ — does not render the method ‘cruel’ under the constitution.”

Executions are expected to begin again soon, now that the state Supreme Court ruling has come in. There are currently 32 inmates on death row, and no execution has been carried out in the state since 2011.

“The Supreme Court has rightfully upheld the rule of law,” Republican Gov. Henry McMaster said in a statement. “This decision is another step in ensuring that lawful sentences can be duly enforced and the families and loved ones of the victims receive the closure and justice they have long awaited.”

  8. Just The News: “A federal appeals court has ruled that the Biden administration can’t implement its Title IX rules in an additional four states, bringing the total number of statewide injunctions to 26.

With a recent block awarded in Oklahoma on Wednesday and then an emergency appeal granted by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, over half of the United States will be exempt from the Thursday deadline.

The new Biden administration rules add gender identity to prohibitions on sexual discrimination in Title IX, including requiring schools to allow students to use a bathroom and locker room that aligns with their gender identity.

Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are the latest states where the Department of Education cannot implement the updated rules that expanded federal sex discrimination protections to cover gender identity and pregnancy.

“The Department is enjoined from enforcing the final rule adopted on April 29, 2024, Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance…pending further order of this Court,” the court’s order reads.

After the rule’s final implementation in April, the Biden administration was challenged by a spate of lawsuits from states, organizations and individuals arguing the rule was unconstitutional.

In the case led by Alabama, a lower court ruled against issuing a preliminary injunction on Tuesday, leading the coalition of states and organizations to file an appeal late into the evening. They asked the appellate court to issue an emergency block on the rule, citing its effects on students and schools.

“The Title IX rule not only immediately jeopardizes the rights and safety of students,” the request for an injunction reads. “But it also requires schools to digest the rest of the 423-page rule, update their policies, retrain their employees, figure out how to reconcile contrary state laws, and more. And the rule’s effective date is hours away.”

The Department of Education maintains that it is lawfully protecting students who are liable to face discrimination, including transgender students. The rules require schools to allow students to use a bathroom that aligns with their gender identity.

Critics say that it removes the protections created by the 1972 statute prohibiting sex discrimination in the nation’s academic institutions.”

    1. I definitely do not agree with all of those suggestions, altho I do agree about this Lacivita guy – he’s definitely shady – don’t know anything about this Susie chick. Those groups of people “who will never vote for you” are capable of changing their minds if you just talk to them as Trump is doing. Ignoring them would just exacerbate the separation in their minds.

Donald Trump made a combative appearance Wednesday at a conference of Black journalists during a heated question-and-answer session that at times focused squarely on the race of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump claimed that he did not know until a few years ago that Harris, who is Indian American and Black, was Black. He then baselessly suggested that she had decided to “turn Black” only recently for political gain.

“I’ve known her a long time, indirectly,” Trump said. “And she was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black.”

“I respect either one,” he added, “but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn and … she became Black. … Somebody should look into that, too.”

“Is she Indian or is she Black?” he asked.

ABC News’ Rachel Scott, one of the three moderators on the National Association of Black Journalists panel, pointed out that Harris, the de-facto Democratic nominee for president, attended Howard University, a historically Black college. Trump did not directly respond. — CNBC

Our Take: Once again, Trump lays out the bait, and the machine goes whole hog on it like a communist hooker on orange blow.

In kicking off a national argument about whether Kamala Harris campaigned on being “actual” black or just “political” black, Trump is once more proving that neither the media, nor Kamala herself have any real arguments to bring to the table.

Hell, they can’t even agree on immutable characteristics, or how high on the oppression olympics totem poll the Knob Gobbling DC Cackler ranks. Now, Kamala is going to have to choose whether to pretend being black, Indian or the ethnic village bicycle.

Watch the (actual) black community’s reaction to this nonsense, because the whiplash is going to be swift and succinct as the establishment misses the opportunity to hedge its racial bets as they discover that there’s no such thing as racial “communities” in the American zeitgeist … only in the false reality the central narrative has constructed and exists to defend at all costs. — Burning Bright

Our Take: On the one hand, democracy dies in darkness and thus kills the Republic. On the other hand, if the Secret Service is obstructing access to this information by Congress, it’s not surprising that they’d refuse to produce it to a private entity.

Reality Check: This truly is an ongoing investigation. It’s been less than a month. And, while it appears the administration is engaging in a coverup — as evidenced by non-responsive testimony in more than four public hearings and a total failure to comply with Congressional subpoenas — they do have legal cover for their conduct. It’s unfortunate, but it’s true.

I applaud Judicial Watch for taking on this fight. However, if we are going to get answers, the Congress must exercise all of its power and authority, in both chambers, to demand transparency for July 13. This dispute has the potential to serve as a graduate level examination of the Separation of Powers that exists to protect against tyranny, to preserve liberty. It’s important and failure to act is unforgivable.

Obviously, this is a matter of great public interest — but, importantly, the people are not without a specific role. Congress has the authority here. Call your senators and representatives, and demand that they exercise it. — Ashe in America

  13. “Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh Falls Down After Loud Popping Noises”

    World · Jul 31, 2024 · BabylonBee.com

    Article Image

TEHRAN — The FBI confirmed this morning that Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas and mastermind of the October 7th terrorist attacks on Israel, fell down after loud popping noises occurred in his immediate vicinity.

Analysts say that the loud popping noises which seemed to have contributed to the terrorist leader’s sudden fall may have been potentially related to a predawn flyover of the Iranian capitol by several fighter jets with a blue Star of David painted on their fuselages, but that it is too early to determine whether there is any significant connection at this point.

“Everyone attending the inauguration of the Iranian president was milling around being super peaceful, talking about all sorts of peaceful things,” reported Bart Lodge, FBI spokesman. “Bystanders then reported several popping noises — almost like someone popping a packet of bubble wrap — and Ismail Haniyeh seemed to stumble a little bit and then fall down. We are still collecting information and hope to have an answer in a few decades.”

Sources within Hamas have confirmed that the terrorist leader was in fact dead and in many, many pieces. Several media sources including The Washington Post have mourned the passing of another “austere religious scholar” who died needlessly at the hands of those violent Israelis.

At publishing time, reports from Lebanon confirmed that Fuad Shukr, a Hezebollah leader who was involved in the 1983 Marine Corps bombing in Lebanon, had also mysteriously fallen down after several noisy popping sounds.

  14. Transcript: “RACHEL SCOTT: Mr. President we so appreciate you giving us an hour of your time. I want to start by addressing the elephant in the room, sir.

A lot of people did not think it was appropriate for you to be here today. You have pushed false claims about some of your rivals, from Nikki Haley to former president Barack Obama saying that they were not born in the United States, which is not true.

You have told four Congress women of color who were American citizens to go back to where they came from. You have used words like “Animal” and “rabid” to describe Black district attorneys, you’ve attacked Black journalists calling them a loser, saying the questions that they asked are “both stupid and racist.”

You’ve had dinner with a white supremacist at your Mar-a-Lago resort. So, my question sir, now that you are asking Black supporters to vote for you. Why should Black voters trust you after you have used language like that?

Instead of asking Trump to give reasons why Black voters should vote for him, Scott turned into the “LANGUAGE POLICE,” and couched the narrative that it is what Trump says, and not what he does, that is why “Black people” do not like him. Trump rightly called her out on the rude and disingenuous line of questioning.

TRUMP: First of all, I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner, a first question. You don’t even say, “Hello,” “How are you?” Are you with ABC? Because I think they are a fake news network, a terrible network. And I think it’s disgraceful that I came here in good spirit. I love the Black population of this country, I’ve done so much for the Black population of this country. Including employment, including opportunity zones with Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, which is one of the greatest programs ever for Black workers and Black entrepreneurs. I’ve done so much, and you know I say this: historically Black colleges and universities were out of money, they were stone-cold broke, and I saved them, and I gave them long-term financing, and nobody else was doing it. I think it’s a very rude introduction. I don’t know exactly why you would do something like that. And let me go a step further, I was invited here, and I was told my opponent—whether it was Biden or Kamala—I was told my opponent was going to be here. It turned out my opponent isn’t here. You invited me under false pretense.

Once again, Trump called them out on their duplicity. If it was truly about “opportunities like these both to inform our reporting but also to help voters understand the choices that they face in a consequential and historic election year,” as Scott introduced at the top of the panel, then why wasn’t Vice President Kamala Harris present to do that as well? It seems what the organizers really wanted were “gotcha” moments that worked into their narrative. They got more than that, and in spades. Trump continued:

TRUMP: Then you said you can’t do it with Zoom. Well, where’s Zoom? She’s [Harris] going to do it with Zoom, and she’s not coming. Then you were a half an hour late. Just so you understand, I have too respect for you to be late. They couldn’t get their equipment working or something was wrong.

R SCOTT: Mr. President I would love for you to answer the question…

TRUMP: I have been the best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln. That’s my answer.

R SCOTT: Better than President Johnson who signed the Voting Rights Act?

TRUMP: That’s my answer. And for you to start off a question and answer period, especially when you’re 35 minutes late, because you couldn’t get your equipment to work, in such a hostile manner, I think it’s a disgrace.

I am not sure what Scott expected, but it certainly wasn’t to be shut down, and she was. And leave it to a Democrat apparatchik to invoke Lyndon Baines Johnson, one of the most racist presidents in history, second only to Woodrow Wilson. While Johnson claims the Voting Rights Act, it was overwhelming Republican support that allowed it to be passed into law. So, Scott is either not much of a journalist or not very bright, to bypass these factors.

Had Scott done some research, and was really serious, she would not have tried to lead with this question. Sadly, Scott wasn’t content and wanted to exact her pound of flesh. She asked another gotcha question that had to do with policing Trump’s (and Republicans’) language on VP Kamala Harris being a DEI hire. What Scott ended up doing was leaving it wide open for Trump to make the case that Harris is not just a DEI hire, but a manufactured fraud.

R SCOTT: Let me just ask a follow-up sir, then we’ll move on to other questions here. Some of your own supporters, including Republicans on Capitol Hill have labeled Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the first Black and Asian woman to serve as Vice President and be on a major party ticket, as a DEI hire. Is that acceptable language to you? And will you tell those Republicans and those supporters to stop it?

The only thing missing was Scott wagging her finger in his face. Trump countered.

TRUMP: How do you define DEI? Go ahead. How do you define it?

R SCOTT: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion?

TRUMP: Is that your definition? Give me a definition.

SCOTT: Those are the words for, “DEI,” Sir. I’m asking you a question, I’ve defined it for you. Do you believe VP Kamala Harris is only on the ticket because she is a Black woman?

The response was actually quite epic.

TRUMP: Well, I can say, maybe it’s a little bit different. I’ve known her for a long time indirectly, not directly so much. She was always of Indian heritage and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn, “Black,” and now she wants to be known as Black. So, I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?

SCOTT: She’s always identified as a Black woman.

That is a bald-faced lie that I am sure Politifact will bypass. Up until around 2020, Harris has done nothing but lean in to her “Indian-American” heritage:

TRUMP: You know what? I respect either one, I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t. Because she was Indian all the way, and all of a sudden she made a turn and she became a Black person. And I think someone should look into that too, when you ask and continue in a very hostile, nasty tone.

SCOTT: It’s a direct question, sir, do you believe that Vice President Kamala Harris is a DEI hire?

TRUMP: I really don’t know. I mean, I really don’t know. Could be, could be. There are some.

Trump showed he had had quite enough of Scott by pivoting to Harris Faulkner, who, no matter what station she works for, is a seasoned journalist who knows not to ask baited questions. Trump complimented Faulkner, calling her “a fantastic person.” Faulkner had actually interviewed him on July 13, before the attempted assassination. So, Faulkner gets credit for not only bringing that subject back into the forefront, but also asking questions that were prescient to policy and to the actual campaign.

HARRIS F: I want to talk about why you’re here today. It is not lost on us how divided we are as a country. As you were coming today, we really got to see that we were divided along the lines of race, along the lines of gender. There is this question of, in this moment where we are, why come here? What is your message today?

TRUMP: My message is to stop people from invading our country that are taking, frankly, a lot of problems with it, but one of the big problems, and a lot of the journalists in this room I know and have great respect for, a lot of the journalist in this room are Black. I will tell you, that coming from the Border are millions and millions of people who happen to be taking Black jobs. You had the best—

Partisan hack Rachel Scott embarrassed herself further by interjecting, “What exactly is a Black job, sir?”

TRUMP: A Black job is anybody that has a job, that’s what it is, anybody who has a job. They are taking the employment away from Black people.

Another unforced error by Scott, because it not only allowed Trump to discuss the horrible situation at the Southern border but to anchor it to Vice President Kamala Harris. The legacy media has spent the past week trying to rewrite and scrub any mention of this from her history, and with one stupid question, Scott brought it all back.

TRUMP: The first group of people, the Black population is affected most by that, and Kamala is allowing it to happen. She’s the Border Czar, she’s the worst Border Czar in the history of the world, there’s never been a Border Czar like this. She’s never even, essentially, she says she’s been there once, but not the right part of the border.

These people are coming into our country and taking Black jobs, and Hispanic jobs, and frankly, their taking Union jobs. Unions are being very badly affected by all the millions of people pouring into our country.

And one thing Harris, as we discussed, many of these people are coming in from mental institutions, from prisons, from jails, they’re gang members, and other countries. Other countries are setting loose their prisoners, they’re opening up their prisons and their mental institutions and they’re taking their bad people: drug dealers, gang members, and they’re bringing them into the United States.  And by the way, their crime rate is going down, and our crime rate is going to be a disaster.

So, the Black journalists may not have been happy with Trump’s answers, but Black voters were affirmed on two points that the Biden-Harris administration and the Democrats wish to ignore: Kamala Harris is the Border Czar, and an ineffective, fake Black woman, and this influx on the Border is costing employment as well as safety for Black Americans in particular, and all Americans in general.

Faulkner asked another layered, yet thoughtful question about policy, not personality.

HARRIS F: I want to get into how you address some of the issues in Black communities. And I say that plural, because we live in “Communities of Color” that are different. We’re not all the same, we don’t vote the same, we don’t think the same, it’s not all monolithic.

Faulkner talked about the rising credit debt and laid out statistics, as well as the toll inflation is having on the Black community. She asked, “What’s your plan for the Black community when it comes to money?”

TRUMP: The inflation is absolutely destroying our middle class, our working class, virtually every class. Inflation is a disaster in our country. Inflation is a country buster, it breaks every country. And we had, in my opinion, the worst inflation we’ve ever had—they say it’s 58 years but I think it’s much more than that—it’s been devastating. And if you just take a look at a lot of the things they don’t include. Like interest rates. Interest rates went from 2.4 percent to 10 percent and you can’t get the money.

People can’t buy houses. They no longer have the American Dream. Young people, young Black people, they don’t have the American Dream anymore. They can’t buy a house, they can’t borrow the money because of the cost of the money. They can’t buy it because of the cost of housing, because of the cost to build it, because of inflation. Inflation is a disaster and it’s destroying our country and it’s destroying the Black community, probably as much or more than anything else.

Here was another win for the Trump campaign. What may seem like a long and rambling response is actually him acknowledging that there is indeed a problem. As opposed to months and years of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellin, the useless Press Secretary Karine-Jean Pierre, President Joe Biden, and VP Kamala Harris gaslighting Americans that there is no problem and it’s all in their heads.

    HARRIS F: What’s your plan?

TRUMP: You know what we have to do, we have to bring down cost of energy, and that’s going to bring down the cost of inflation. This was all started by a bad energy policy by Joe Biden.

This created another opening for Trump–to be able to discuss the bloodless coup of Biden being forced out of the campaign for 2024 and being conveniently replaced by Harris. Trump pointed out that their campaign was prepared to tackle one opponent, and then had to quickly shift to tackle another.

TRUMP: Ultimately it’s the same, because they have bad policy. They have policies of open borders, unbelievable open borders, horrible energy policies.

This gave Trump another chance to discuss ALL the bad policies of the Biden-Harris administration without rebuttal. He then brought it back to the effect of inflation on the Black community.

TRUMP: The inflation is the thing that’s hurting the Black worker, the Black population, and every other population within our country. Inflation is the worst its been, I think in over a hundred years.

Semafor’s Kadia Goba finally got a chance to ask her question about police immunity. But as is typical of legacy press, the phrasing of her question did not allow for any cogent discussion on why the policy exists and why good police need some form of protection in order to do their job effectively.

The rest went as expected. A few cogent, but mostly ridiculous questions surrounding Trump’s VP pick JD Vance. Ever since the Left has been fixated on Vance’s past comments about families, childless women, and cat ladies, certain loud voices on the Right have been trying to force a referendum on the viability of the VP candidate and whether he is dragging down the ticket. Scott again poured milk on stupid and gulped it down, asking, ” Did you know he had these views?” The RNC spends millions of dollars and countless hours digging into candidates’ past, but yeah, Rachel, Trump was not aware of his views. <insert *eyeroll* emoji>

Faulkner asked the question that got an answer that is a reflection of what Trump deems important not only in a VP candidate, but what elicits respect and admiration from him as a person. Faulkner interjected, “Why did you choose him?” Trump gave a full-throated, 10-toes down response.

PRESIDENT TRUMP on @JDVance: “I chose him because he is a very strong believer in WORK and the working man and woman who have been treated very unfairly.”

In a later exchange, Trump also made the solid point that they are not electing the vice president. He is at the top of the ticket, so who people are voting for is him and him alone. Ultimately, the Black men and women who are leaning in his direction are fine with Trump being Trump, and that’s exactly who he was at the NABJ.

What Black voters received were answers to the concerns they have been expressing for three years, and some policy prescriptions that might give them some relief. That’s infinitely more than a show with Megan Thee Stallion twerking, and feel-good bromides over the first “Black” female candidate.”

  16. “JD Vance Isn’t Weird, The Democrats Are…These elitist snobs hate Vance because he is just a regular, normal guy who came from blue-collar, working class beginnings.”

    Roger Stone, Aug 01, 2024

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Since the moment President Donald Trump picked Senator JD Vance as his Vice Presidential nominee, the left began parroting the same talking point: “He’s weird.” Kamala Harris’ campaign spokesman declared that Vance “spent all week making headlines for his out-of-touch, weird ideas.” But what exactly are those “out-of touch, weird ideas”?

First-and-foremost on their mind when making these “weird” comments is pro-family statements he has made. Vance has advocated for tax policies that benefit families, having a lower tax rate for families with more children.

Read what he said, and try to find what is “weird” about it:

“If you’re making $100,000 or $400,000 a year and you’ve got three kids, you should pay a different, lower tax rate than if you’re making the same amount of money and you don’t have any kids. It’s that simple.”

This is far less extreme than policies found in some countries, like in Hungary, where parents of four or more children are exempted from paying income tax for the rest of their lives. The left also zeroes in on his pro-life positions, claiming that opposing abortion is “weird.” If being against killing unborn babies in the womb is “weird,” I guess I’m weird too…

In reality, Democrat attacks on Vance just show their elitism. These elitist snobs hate Vance because he is just a regular, normal guy who came from blue-collar, working class beginnings. He climbed up from the bottom, serving in the Marine Corps before working to pay his way through Yale Law School.

After graduating, he had a successful career in law, before making a name for himself in Silicon Valley as a successful Venture Capitalist, and ultimately being elected to serve in the U.S. Senate in 2022.

His early life is the subject of his best-selling memoir-turned film, Hillbilly Elegy, which shot to the top of the charts on both Amazon and Netflix following Trump’s announcement.

Senator Vance is the embodiment of the American dream, which is why he is the perfect choice to be President Trump’s VP. Not only that, but Vance is not a neocon, which is perhaps the biggest reason Trump made the right call.

In the Senate, Vance opposed sending tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine — he, like Trump, fiercely opposes globalism — and he has called for European allies to “to play a bigger share of the security role” instead of relying on the U.S. funding their defense through NATO.

No matter what Democrats say, President Trump made a fantastic VP choice with JD Vance.”

Ann: I think the New York Times said two thirds of his (Brandon) lower court I.E lower than the Supreme Court appointees have been women or minorities or both much of the time and I think you have the actual figures on that.

Heather: Well, the first year and a half I think about 22% were black women which is the scariest of all because if you just look at proportions in the population of lawyers black women make up at at most 2% so even if qualifications were equally distributed there’s no way that you could come up with 22% without dipping way to the bottom of that 2% applicant pool. But we know sadly and this is facts that the American public just does not like hearing that the proportion of black law students who are at the top of their classes is basically zero. This is what got (law professor) Amy Wax in such trouble of speaking the truth about what she’s seen in her law school year after year after year.

  20. “The Beatings will Continue…Unless a Horse Fly Bites — Crazy days at the Olympics”

Robert W Malone MD, MS, Aug 01, 2024

The crazy and cruel reality of the Paris Olympics just got crazier and more deadly.

A (trans) biological man beat up a woman boxer yesterday – in the name of “sport.”

The Algerian boxer cleared to fight at the Olympics, despite failing a gender test at the women’s world boxing championships, left Italian opponent Angela Carini in tears in the ring today. The fight was abandoned after 46 seconds.

The fight was abandoned when the woman, Angela Carini – decided enough was enough and stopped the match. Italian Olympian Angela Carini lasted 46 seconds before quitting due to how painful it was. She said afterwards: “I have never been hit so hard in my life.”

Let me state this again -yesterday in Women’s Boxing, a man beat a woman so hard that she quit. Other Olympian women competing in boxing are now threatening to quit in protest.

The two male boxers, Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting, representing Algeria and Taiwan, respectively, are participating in women’s boxing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games despite failing the gender eligibility tests. But it is okay, according to Olympic officials, because in the case of Imane Khelif, his passport states that he is a woman.

Juxtapose this to the equine Olympic sport of Dressage.

For those that don’t know, dressage is a precise style of equine riding originally developed for the military thousands of years ago – when horses were the main instrument of war.

But in the Olympic sport of Dressage this week, the Olympic rules run the complete opposite of those in the boxing arena.

In Dressage news, the entire USA dressage team – including those competing for individual medals, was eliminated before the main competition later this week. Because a judge determined that there was a minuscule amount of blood on Team USA member Marcus Orlob’s mount named Jane during a pre-test, as the horse had spooked during the pre-test and evidently scratched herself. This drop of blood was so small it could barely be seen by the naked eye and, in fact, was only observed because the horse had a white leg.

When that happened, Jane “[stepped] on herself in the process, and nicking her hind right fetlock. The judges saw the trace amount of blood and were forced to eliminate the combination due to the FEI Blood Rules for Dressage,” according to the organization’s website (Fox News).

The smear of blood was less than the amount of blood raised from a horsefly bite. This is a horse whose size is approximately 12 times the size of an average woman. Enquiring minds want to know,

    1. as this was a “pre-test” why would all the individual team members also be eliminated, and
    2. why are no substitutions allowed for a team member disqualified in a pre-test?

This is the reality of our lives. The Olympics have become a disgrace with crazy, mixed-up rules that make little sense. Rules that cater to the whims of biological males, as opposed to the safety of other opponents.

The Olympics are allowing women to be brutalized by men. Throughout the rest of these Olympics, these two men will be brutalizing other women. They are being celebrated for their violent acts against women.

At the very same Olympics, officials disqualified a rider and an entire nation’s team – based on less than a teaspoon of blood on a 1200-pound horse -found during a pre-test. The pre-test was a non-competitive event before the actual Olympic competition itself.

What a sick, sad world – the globalists live in.”

  21. EXCERPT: “Germany’s Christian institutions play a pivotal role in mass immigration, through the message they preach in parishes all the way to their efforts in funding the transfer of migrants to Germany.

Now, the Catholic Diocese of Trier is calling for monthly donations to fund another ship to bring illegal immigrants to Europe via the Mediterranean Sea. Catholic faithful are being called upon to fund the operation of the Sea-Eye 5 “rescue ship.”

“Sea rescue is a Christian and humanitarian duty,” said Trier’s Vicar General Ulrich Graf von Plettenberg.

The church now wants 3,000 co-sponsors who will send €16.67 every month. The funding will help ensure the boat can pick up migrants off the North African coast. Often, there is no shipwreck involved, with migrants being picked up directly from human trafficking boats. It is far cheaper for these boats to send out a distress signal and have illegal migrants picked up directly from their boats. Most of these migrants end up in countries like Germany after arriving in Italy.

This is not the first effort to finance migrant rescue boats, with the same diocese co-financing the Sea-Eye 4 boat years ago with the help of other dioceses.

The Catholic Church is far from the only Christian organization supporting mass immigration, with the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) initiating the purchase of the original Sea-Eye 5 boat for €465,000, along with the help of other pro-migrant organizations. The EKD’s massive role in the migrant business has been covered by Remix News in the past. Notably, the EKD has begun removing pastors who are sympathetic to the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, known for its anti-immigration stance….”

  22. State Dept. warns Americans not to travel to Lebanon. No shit, sherlock! As far as I’m concerned, ANY American who is stupid enough to travel to one of these dangerous countries should be 100% on their own – the US should do nothing to try to save their stupid asses!!!

Just so you know the latest gossip on Twitter..about Epstein

The Twitter verse TDS people believe all this.
    @politvidchannel

Trump insiders told us, “If the news of a sex tape is revealed, this will lead to
Trump dropping out of the race.”

Ghislaine Maxwell is planning to reveal everything she knows about Trump in
    tell-all memoir from behind bars.

Ransome claimed in those emails that Trump had sex with ‘many girls’, including a
friend of hers who is not named, who she says also slept with Bill Clinton and Virgin
    billionaire Richard Branson.

Jeffrey Epstein kept blackmail videos that showed Donald Trump having sex with ‘
many girls’ supplied by him, according to the latest bombshell claims in newly-
    unsealed court documents.

  24. Big whoop going on about the Wall Street Journal’s so-called “journalist” who was arrested in Russia being released – they are no different than any citizen – you simply cannot go into a foreign country and flout their laws and expect to get by with it!

  25. Yesss!!! Ari Flescher: “Here’s the problem, tho. Unless America is willing to start snatching up Russians off the streets of America, or we’re willing to send in commando teams to rescue Americans, you don’t have an alternative means to get these people back other than to negotiate. That’s why Presidents have got to make clear that you don’t go….we need to get tougher on Americans who travel abroad, maybe Congress needs to pass a law prohibiting travel of Americans to Russia, but this is going to keep going because we don’t have alternative means.”

  26. Speaking of baby animals – while I was away at the Village for an extended period for Sally’s aide’s vacation – a wren built a next in one of my porch ferns. It was finished and she was nesting, so I am leaving it and watering the fern at the bottom. One day, they will be hatched, grown and gone and I can dismantle the nest.

I used to put broken tiles around the fern to discourage their burrowing and building, but I forgot this year, with all the commotion of Sally’s broken bones, long hospitalization and everything else.

All the going back and forth is tough to stay balanced and oriented…I have to think hard each morning to remember where I am, what day is it, or when I get up at night which way is the bathroom.

    1. that’s got to be tough.
yup, hubby and i have that agreement too. if we find a nest with eggs or animals we leave it be till they’re gone before we remove it–unless it’s snakes or bats or something equally icky

“Documentary explores 18 WWII WACs Missing in Action”

By Ericka Gillespie, July 31, 2024

18 Accra WACs Missing in Action

EXCERPT: “…..“We are truly honored to be a part of memorializing the service and sacrifice of these women and hopefully bringing a little bit of closure to their families,” said Kolleda.

Their story begins in October 1944, a squadron of 159 WAC members arrived at their assignment in the Air Transport Command’s Central African Division in Accra, Africa. The WACs were part of Squadron D, 1202nd Army Air Force Base Unit, Air Transport Command.

They were the first WACs to set foot on the hot, tropical soil of the African Gold Coast. They were older than many other recruits. Among the women, the average age was 28 according to the Digital Collections on the AWM’s website.

Collectively, they worked alongside each other as clerks, models, riveters, pilots and even professional dancers. According to AWM’s website, their commanding officer, First Lt. Patrice A. Brooks, had been a protégé of Anna Pavlova, the famous Russian prima ballerina.

Among the 159 WACs that went to Accra, many had strong reasons behind why they decided to serve. Cpl. Betty Griebel, was one of them. Griebel enlisted in the WAC after receiving notice that her husband Sgt. Griebel was MIA. He was listed as MIA for 42 years before his remains had been identified in 1985.

Following the discovery of her husband’s remains, Griebel, whose married name was Betty McAleenan, felt called to relay her memories and share the story by recording her oral history for the Women’s Army Corps Museum collection. McAleenan went on to shed light on another story of selfless service, that of Pvt. First Class Helen Rozelle.

Like Griebel, Rozzelle enlisted in 1943 after her 22-year-old, older brother First Lt. Richard E. Rozelle was declared MIA. Rozelle’s brother was part of the 2nd Bomber Group, 20th Bomber Squadron. On August 19, 1943, his B-17 aircraft was shot down off the coast of Italy.

Also inspired to follow in the footsteps of her brother, Staff Sgt. Frederic Blanck, Pvt. First Class Frieda C. Blanck Friend decided to serve by enlisting in the WAC, according to records found on the AWM’s website’s Digital Collections. In June of 1943, Blanck had been given permission and a leave pass to marry Staff Sgt. Roy James Anthony Friend. The two had been assigned to different U.S. Army airfields. She went on to join her husband who had been transferred to Accra.

Once the War in Europe had concluded, military operations began to shift, and staffing started to change at Air Transport Command. The WACs were given the option of returning to the United States or transferring to the 1400th Army Air Force Base Unit in London, England.

Only 67 of the women chose to continue their service in Europe.

Early Wednesday morning at 7:08 a.m. 18 of the 67 WACs boarded the 3rd plane, a C-47B #44-76406 Skytrain transport aircraft, which then left Accra for Roberts Field, Liberia. Other than scattered showers that morning, there were no severe weather conditions reported according to the reports found on the AWM’s website’s digital collections.

The flight crew, which consisted of 3 members, made regular radio contact at 7:55 a.m. to Takoradi Airport, which is located today in Ghana. At 9:20 a.m., repeated distress signals from the aircraft were picked up by U.S. Army Airways Communication System at Roberts Field in Liberia. A later report detailed, “the distress signal was loud and clear and was heard for approximately 5 minutes.”

An immediate search was launched off what is now Cote D’lvoire, in the presumed area of the crash. The search continued for over a week with no sign of the aircraft or its passengers to be found….”

      1. Hi, Pat. I was just researching the peanut, which I believe is a legume, maybe like the tiger nut. But then I got sidetracked looking up the reference to the documentary Filly is/was watching, about WACs lost on the western coast of Africa in WWII. The coast is on either side of the “prime meridian” which extends northward through Greenwich, north of London, England and divides Eastern and Western hemispheres. That’s why times in the US are different from times east of London.

Anyway, I read awhile ago that the determination of times, weights, and measures was a political decision in England and France. The Brits got time, so international standards for time are based on UT or Universal Time. But the weights and other measures standard is based on the French Systeme Internationale, which is metric. The freezing point of water is 0 degrees Centigrade, and its boiling point is 100 degrees Centigrade. The US dollar is metric, thanks to Thomas Jefferson, who argued for the ease of calculating trades in easily convertible equivalents for corn and other crops.
More later on this, but I want to add that I believe tiger nuts may be related to peanuts, which are also considered legumes, popularized by George Washington Carver at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama in the early 1900s, I believe.

          1. You are welcome. It’s a lot of info for even me to digest. The Ivory coast and the Gold coast of Africa are side by side, on either side of the Prime Meridian, on the southwestern coast of Africa.

  29. Just called my Sis to see how she weathered the storms last night – totally missed her! She lives south of Lincoln, about 45 miles or so – all she got out of it was a wet porch! I asked her if she’s talked to mom and got a sheepish…. “No….” and I said “neither have I – I figure if she needs something, she’ll call!” She said “that’s what I thought, too!”
