Today’s offering is another no bake, simple bar recipe…Salted Chocolate & Caramel Pretzel Bars!

Ingredients

12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips, good quality chocolate divided into pieces (I like ghiardelli best for melting)

8 ounces mini pretzel twists, half of a regular 16-ounce bag

11 ounce bags Kraft Caramel Bits, or homemade caramel

sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melt 8 ounces of the chocolate chips gently in the microwave (on low heat, stirring every 15 seconds) until smooth. 

Spread the chocolate evenly over the parchment. Immediately add the pretzel twists over the top (it’s ok if they overlap!) and gently press them into the chocolate. 

Add caramel bits to a microwave safe bowl with 2 tablespoons water and melt according to package instructions (on high for 2 minutes). Stir well and drizzle the melted caramel over the top of all of the pretzels.

Melt remaining 4 ounces of chocolate and drizzle over the caramel. Sprinkle with sea salt.

Refrigerate until hardened.

Cut or tear into pieces, Enjoy!

  1. Morning All!
    I made these for hubby a few weeks ago…he loved them! I used the Nestle chips I had at home but i did use the caramel chips–they melted beautifully!
    next time I will spring for the Ghiradelli chips!

    1. Morning, Pat! I didn’t refresh before posting my comment below. Are the Ghiradelli chips that much better that they are worth the cost? I honestly can’t tell the difference but, then, my taste buds are all f’ed up anyway!

      1. i don’t know…lol…that’s why I’m gonna try them.
        the toll house are fine for cookies or mixed in something, but for this the taste of the chocolate was important. these were good–i wonder if the Ghiradelli would make them that much better. I can splurge if they make a BIG difference

  4. Good morning! That’s what I get for going to sleep so early – I am up before the birds this morning! Thunder and lightning in the distance, humid and already 70. Never did get more than a few sprinkles. No sign of Wheezer yet. Turns out, Mom had a UTI: don’t drink tea, just water, and I assume they gave her the appropriate antibiotic.

    The media wants people to falsely believe that the surge of support for @KamalaHarris

    on Tik Tok and other social media sites by GenZ is organic, but as I just exposed, it’s being paid for via social media influencer agencies like Launch Viral.

    Kamala Harris is so unlikable, her campaign @KamalaHQ literally has to pay influencers to create the illusion and delusion that young people support her.

  15. Just The News: “A Hezbollah rocket launched into Israel on Saturday has now claimed the lives of 12 children. The rocket struck a soccer field in northern Israel and injured more than two dozen.

    The attack sparked fears among the Biden administration that the situation could spiral out of control and spawn an Israel-Hezbollah war, the New York Post reported.

    Hezbollah is an Iran-backed militant group in Lebanon, which lies along Israel’s northern border. The Hezbollah rocket struck a predominantly Druze community in the Golan Heights region. Israel identified 11 of the 12 victims on Sunday, the New York Post reported. The outlet reported “thousands [were] seen sobbing” at funerals for the victims.

    1. ah…i read an explanation yesterday. there are a lot of people who don’t vote–don’t care, too lazy, too busy whatever. President Trump wants them to vote THIS year because it is too important–too much is at stake to just sit on the sidelines.
      vote him in, let him fix it…then you can go to being on the sidelines if you want

          he’s trying to tell people that THIS is the election to get off their butts and vote. IF he can win, he can restore our country to where it used to be and clean up the elections.
          we have what? estimated 350 million people in this country and only 150-160 million vote. he’s trying to get the others to realize THIS is the one election you should not sit out.

  27. just got done texting with a dear friend. she’s in the hospital…her heart was racing at 170…bp was 290/145. she was passed out on the floor when her hubby found her.

    they think it’s something to do with her aorta valve.

    creepy thing is…when she was young–around 14 iirc–her weird neighbor told her she would never live past 73 and her 73rd birthday is this Saturday.

    1. People shouldn’t say things like that – it leads to preconceived notions and a person with the right (or wrong, as the case may be) psyche may subconsciously bring on an illness of some kind.

    I’ve seen the grosbeak a time or two at the jelly, but mostly mornings and dusk.
    but the hummers? they are everywhere–there’s at least a dozen out there flying and battling.

    1. Cool! Still not seeing many Orioles. I just got my exercise for the day – spent the last hour pulling all the weeds under my cottonwood tree. I’m going to have to get a leaf blower to blow all the grass cuttings off before I can spray with All Kill – otherwise, it won’t get thru.

    The Chicago Teachers’ Union, via Union President Stacy Davis Gates, recently demanded a new contract granting them an extra $50 billion and 9% raises through at least 2028. And that’s only the beginning. Incredibly, CTU is also demanding free abortions for all teachers, an expanded slate of LGBTQ-related requirements and training in the classroom, housing for and $2,000 per undocumented migrant, mandatory gender-neutral bathrooms, full coverage for storage of embryos, implementation of policies that would prohibit any member from being compelled to tell parents when a student rejects his or her sex … and more. WTH?

    The $50 billion the Chicago Teachers’ Union is demanding is virtually equal to the total base tax receipts for the entire state of Illinois last year ($50.7 billion) and would push average yearly teacher salaries to over $144,000, more than double the median household income in Chicago. (Davis, who has called school choice racist, sends her own son to a private school. Of course.)

    Chicagoland teachers already receive up to 45 days off, have 15 forms of leave … and an annual maximum of 244 sick days. And they have the nerve to make these demands while only about one in five eighth graders in the city are proficient in reading, though the district spends $21,000 a year per student, almost half-again as much as the national average.

    The Mail on Sunday newspaper reported how controversial radical Islamist preacher Sheikh Yasser al-Habib had plans to purchase the land and develop a safe haven for Muslims from around the world. Al-Habib had announced his desire to build a school, hospital, and mosque on the island, and for residents to adhere to Sharia law — the fundamental legal code of Islam, despite the territory remaining under the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom.

    However, MailOnline reported on Monday that the current owner assured concerned locals he would not sell the land to anyone considered to be a bad fit with the local community.

    The island is around 1.2 miles long and 0.5 miles wide. It is only accessible by private boat and has not been permanently inhabited since the 1960s. Local residents of adjacent islands expressed their contempt for Al-Habib’s plans.

    “The proposal for setting up a sectarian religious outpost on a rural Scottish island is immoral,” said Alastair Redman, a local councillor. “The fact that he wants to involve an idyllic setting in prejudiced preaching is simply unacceptable,” he added.

    Alastair Fleming, a local resident of the neighboring island of Luing, said locals would hamper any plans with planning objections and questioned how viable Al-Habib’s plans were for an island so remote and small.

    “It is not an easy island to set up a community on and I am perplexed as to why he has chosen Torsa. Even if he did buy the island, I do not think he would be able to carry out the works he is proposing,” he told MailOnline.

    The Kuwaiti-born preacher, now based in London, has a chequered past. He claimed asylum in Britain after being sentenced to 10 years in prison in his home country for upsetting Sunni Muslims by “questioning the conduct and integrity of some of the ‘companions’ of the prophet Muhammad.”

    In Britain, he has run military-style training regimes in the car park of a mosque in Buckinghamshire, and is the founder of controversial satellite channel Fadak TV, which has been scolded by Britain’s media regulator Ofcom on multiple occasions for “hate-filled broadcasts.”

    The cleric, however, remains a popular figure among his audience with a following in the hundreds of thousands and is using his television channel to raise funds to buy the island.

    Savills, the estate agent conducting the sale, insists it remains on the market.”

    The declaration came a day after the country’s political opposition and the entrenched incumbent both claimed victory in the contest, according to the Associated Press. 

    The National Electoral Council in declaring Maduro’s victory handed him a third six-year term.

    “We have never been moved by hatred,” Maduro said in the nationally televised ceremony. “On the contrary, we have always been victims of the powerful. An attempt is being made to impose a coup d’état in Venezuela again of a fascist and counterrevolutionary nature.”

    President Biden’s proposal to radically overhaul the U.S. Supreme Court would tilt the balance of power and erode not only the rule of law, but the American people’s faith in our system of justice.

    This proposal is the logical conclusion to the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats’ ongoing efforts to delegitimize the Supreme Court. Their calls to expand and pack the Court will soon resume.

    It is telling that Democrats want to change the system that has guided our nation since its founding simply because they disagree with some of the Court’s recent decisions. This dangerous gambit of the Biden-Harris Administration is dead on arrival in the House.
