What Shall We Bake Today?

In honor of Father’s Day this month, today’s offering is 3 Layer Bacon & Beer Cake!

Ingredients

2 boxes Vanilla Cake Mix

2 tubs Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

6 eggs

1 cup butter (2 sticks), melted

1 can beer

16 strips bacon

½ cup brown sugar (if making candied bacon)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and spray 3 8-inch round cake pans with baking spray.

In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, eggs, butter and beer together until combined. Divide mix evenly into the three greased cake pans and bake at 350 degrees F for 22-25 minutes. Cool completely.

Cook bacon either on stovetop or in the oven until crispy. If cooking on a stovetop, cook the bacon on low heat for 5-7 minutes on each side and set on a paper towel to drain. If using the oven, cook at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes and set on a paper towel to drain. If you want to make candied bacon, rub brown sugar on both sides of the bacon before cooking.

Roughly chop 5 pieces of bacon and set aside.

Frost the top of one cake layer and sprinkle some bacon bits on top. Stack another cake layer on top and frost and sprinkle bacon. Stack the third cake layer on top. Frost the top and sides of the cake.

Place the bacon strips all the way around the edge of the cake. Top the remaining bacon bits on the top of the cake. Enjoy!

  1. Morning All!
bacon and beer not my thing…but hubby would like it…lol
gotta get the photo card out of the camera this morning…the trap was not triggered, but the drip pan is ripped off, the mouse bait box is in the middle of the deck AND there’s fur on the deck (that’s new). someone was here last night.

    1. Morning, Pat! Well, something was there anyway….LOL. Around here, if I saw fur I’d say there was a cat or squirrel fight but who knows in your neck of the woods?? I can handle the bacon – that sounds like it would be quite tasty, actually – but no to the beer, thank you!

Had some rip-roaring storms in the middle of the night but nothing was blown over/down, thankfully. Jelly feeder was full of water, of course, but everything else is in place. Forecast is calling for chances of rain almost every day for at least the next 10 days. Wheezer ate again during the night but I’ve not seen her.

hubby was just looking at the pictures…TWO raccoons were on the deck last night–and they peed–which dried apparently. and they went near the cage but not inside. they did tussle too–hence the fur on the deck.
        sigh.
very windy here this morning, but we’re gonna cut grass and I’m gonna weed eat. seems like a good day for that

        1. Best to get it done while it’s not raining, eh? Still really windy here and cloudy. You still haven’t re-sprayed with that stuff that worked before, I take it?

EXCLUSIVE: Trump Confidant Peter Navarro Describes Life In Prison, Plans For When He’s FreeIt’s a lengthy, interesting article. Navarro is seeing a lot of things regarding how prisons are run and how the health of the inmates suffers, and I think he will be lobbying for change.

What’s a typical prison day like?

Up before dawn, an early breakfast with dry cereal and zero protein, a mile walk around the track thinking of my beautiful fiancée and singing her our favorite song — Michael Bublé’s version of “The Way You Look Tonight.” I know she can hear me — and we talk three times a day on the phone.

[Navarro told the Caller he can speak with his fiancée Bonnie briefly at meal times, but that his phone time is heavily restricted.]

Off to work by 8, lunch at 11, more work, exercise in the yard, dinner. At night, I work both on my appeal being prepared by my legal team and a project I’m working with inmates on to fix a massive computer error in the Bureau of Prisons that is delaying the release of inmates both to halfway houses and to freedom.

This is a huge scandal I’ve uncovered from behind prison walls. Incompetence at the Biden Administration’s Bureau of Prisons is costing nearly $5 billion in wasted taxpayer funds, and the Democrats may rue the day they put me on the inside to see the level of incompetence and the misery among inmates and their families it is causing. Look for more op-eds on this and its emergence as an election issue.

Could you talk about the volume of mail you receive?

It’s in the thousands and unfortunately about half of it is returned by the Bureau of Prisons for nitpicky reasons like the wrong-colored ink, colored paper, or the use of greeting cards. I’ve taken great inspiration from the wisdom, prayers, and support of MAGA nation — and try to respond to everyone…

You’ve said that “The New MAGA Deal” may well be the most important book you’ve ever written. Why?

“The New MAGA Deal” is the definitive book on, and unofficial Deplorable’s guide to, the Trump 2024 campaign platform. It’s important for two reasons. First, it describes 100 presidential actions my old boss will take in the first 100 days on everything from inflation, border security, and combating CCP aggression to defending women’s sports, stopping the genital mutilation of young boys, and ending the relentless lawfare that has corrupted and compromised our now dual system of justice.

Second, and most important, it is the single best defense against the predictable spin of the opposition party that MAGA equals extremism. “The New MAGA Deal” illustrates that the Trump agenda and its economic populism is the most common-sense, mainstream response to the myriad crises this nation is experiencing.

The House disagrees with the assertions in the letter from the Department of Justice, and as Speaker, I will be certifying the contempt reports to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. We will also move to enforce the subpoena of Attorney General Garland in federal court. It is sadly predictable that the Biden Administration’s Justice Department will not prosecute Garland for defying congressional subpoenas even though the department aggressively prosecuted Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro for the same thing. This is yet another example of the two-tiered system of justice brought to us by the Biden Administration.

  5. Ana Paulina wants cleaner food–without the food dyes, high fructose corn syrup which makes people sick. she’s going after the fda

    FTA

While we’re told the food we eat is safe by government organizations like the FDA, the chemicals contained in that food are anything but safe.

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna shed light on this shockingly little known fact when she proposed legislation to ban toxic food dyes and high-fructose corn syrup in foods.

“One of the legislations that I’ve been very passionate about is really ensuring that all Americans, regardless of party affiliation or social class, have access to clean food,” Luna tells Sara Gonzales.

Luna, who grew up using food stamps, calls what’s happening “subsidizing government poison,” which is “making some of the poorest people in our country sick.”

“Ultimately, that contributes to more debt and also to shorter life expectancies, to infertility, and really I think the people that are being hurt the most are our children.”

“So, what we’re finding is a lot of these artificial food dyes that are banned, mind you, in a lot of countries like Australia, in parts of Europe, and in Asia, are actually linked to cancer, infertility, ADHD,” Luna explains. “It’s really hurting our kids and hurting our people.”

The corporations using the chemicals are “taking the cheap way out and basically are serving up poison to our families.”

While Luna hopes she’ll have bipartisan support no matter what, she’s sure a Trump presidency will help get her bill passed.

“It needs to happen,” Gonzales says. “I hope this is also a step towards just completely upending the FDA, because at the end of the day, I mean they’re the ones who are allowing all of these toxic chemicals and food dyes and all of these to be put into American food.”

  6. wow, i didn’t realize it was three dozen attacks!

    FTA
Presidential immunity of some kind is protecting Biden from lawsuits for these attacks which have gotten other dog owners put in jail, and made him lackadaisical about attacks as they happen, until they reached the ears of the press. The dog should have been stopped after one bite, but Biden lacked that capacity for leadership, 35 others followed.

There is talk that he distrusts the Secret Service and therefore enjoys seeing them suffer. If so, it would be in line with Biden’s psychopathic smile at the news that President Trump was calling himself a “political prisoner” after Biden’s directed lawfare against him. This guy has sadistic tendencies, and for that, needs to be out of office.

  7. Just The News: “Nearly half of voters expect President Joe Biden to forget where he is during his first debate with former President Donald Trump later this month.

According to a new poll by J.L. Partners, 49% of likely voters expect Biden to forget where he is during the June 27th CNN debate with Trump in Atlanta, while 41% believe Biden will walk off the wrong side of the stage. The poll was conducted June 10-11 and surveyed 500 likely voters, the Daily Mail reported.

A total of 70% of respondents said that Biden would stumble over his words during the debate, and 79% believe that Trump will interrupt Biden. The poll also found that 50% of likely voters believe that Trump will win the debate, compared to 39% believing that Biden will, with 11% uncertain.

J.L. Partners pollster James Johnson said the poll is concerning for Biden. “They show voters’ deep concerns about his ability to govern,” Johnson said. “However, there may be a medium-term win for Biden in that Trump has clearly set expectations for Biden in the debate very low.”

“If Biden gets through and doesn’t have a major mishap then that will be a win for the president,” he added.”

  8. This is pure bull shit!!!!

Just The News: “Will Jones, the prosecuting attorney investigating the death of airport administrator Bryan Malinowski, announced Friday that he would not bring charges against an Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agent who fired the killing shot.

Malinowski was the local administrator of an airport in Little Rock, Arkansas, and was killed in March after federal agents showed up to execute a search warrant in his home, leading to a standoff that resulted in Malinowski being killed. Federal investigators alleged Malinowski violated federal gun laws by operating as a firearm seller without the proper Federal Firearms License.

Jones said that the shooting was justified out of self-defense, because the agent “had a reasonable belief that deadly force was necessary to defend himself,” according to The Arkansas Times.

Arkansas attorney Bud Cummins, who represents Malinowski’s family, slammed the decision and claimed that 28 seconds was not a “reasonable” amount of time for Malinowski to answer the door and admit the ATF agents voluntarily. Jones’s final report included a timeline of the day’s interaction, which showed there were just 28 seconds between the time the agents knocked on the door and the time they used a battering ram to break the door down.

“Legally, law enforcement must give the person inside a reasonable amount of time to come to the door to admit them voluntarily before forcibly entering,” Cummins said in a statement shared with Just The News. “A search warrant is not supposed to necessarily be a license for a home invasion, especially during an investigation of such a low-level violation with such little risk involved in the search.”

Cummins acknowledged Jones’s decision, but stated that he was not through with trying to get justice for Malinowski. “The Pulaski County Prosecutor focused his decision on any law enforcement officer’s right under state law to use deadly force in self-defense,” Cummins said. “The Prosecutor had his duty to perform, and he did it as God showed him the light to see that duty. But this is far from over.”

The agent that shot Malinowski has not been publicly identified. But the agent fired three rounds after Malinowski began firing at the agent, according to Jones’ timeline.”

  9. Just The News: “What began as an attempt to protect the environment has resulted in the loss of 70 rural Michigan jobs.

The Viking Energy Biomass plant in Lincoln, a village of 305 people near Lake Huron, is being required to shut down following climate and budget concerns. The decision resulted in the loss of 21 full-time onsite employees, as well as 50 other full-time employees responsible for processing and transporting the 225,000 tons of wood used annually at the plant.

In March, the Michigan Public Service Commission denied Consumers Energy’s requests to close the plant early, saying they wanted to give the employees more time to find new jobs. Nevertheless, the plant still decided to shut down early despite their contract not ending until 2027.

“People aren’t just losing their jobs; families are losing access to affordable and reliable energy,” State Rep. Cam Cavitt, R-Cheboygan. “I’m not sure how Michigan will transfer to wind and solar energy on the governor’s radical timeline if energy producers keep abandoning our state. We need alternative power sources like natural gas and biomass if we ever hope to have a sustainable and reliable energy grid.”

The MSPC expressed concerns over the switch to renewables, saying Consumer’s plans to establish a solar and wind farm will not be enough to replace the Lincoln plant’s 18 megawatts produced annually. Before the shutdown, the biomass plant powered an average of 14,000 homes in the region.

The plant used wood from forestry projects in northern Michigan, leaving the question of what the local forestry industry will now do with their waste.

“The loss of our biomass power stations will result in an increased reliance on volatile and unpredictable energy resources,” Justin Knepper, executive director of the Michigan Association of Timbermen said. “Members of the Michigan Association of Timbermen work hard each and every day to ensure that our biomass power stations are supplied with sustainably harvested wood residuals that provide clean, renewable energy.”

Just The News: “U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Friday that the floating pier the United States constructed off the coast of Gaza was temporarily dismantled for a second time, because high winds were causing rough seas.

The pier, which was first constructed on May 17, was temporarily damaged by rough waves last month, which caused it to break apart. It was repaired and reopened last week. This time, CENTCOM said it towed the pier to Israel for safety, and officials will quickly re-anchor the pier when the weather has improved.

“The decision to temporarily relocate the pier is not made lightly but is necessary to ensure the temporary pier can continue to deliver aid in the future,” the agency said in a statement, CBS News reported.

Defense officials said the pier is expected to transport approximately 90 trucks of humanitarian aid to Gaza each day, and will be able to carry up to 150 truck loads of aid at its peak. Approximately 7.7 million pounds of various humanitarian aid have been delivered to Gaza through the pier so far, including food and water. The project cost an estimated $320 million to construct, according to the Pentagon.

The operation was first announced in President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, when he vowed that no American service member would fight in the war between Israel and Hamas. Biden has kept this promise, but approximately 1,000 service members have been assigned to help with the aid and the pier.

Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said the aid is being held at a staging area on shore for now, according to the Washington Post.”

  13. “Putin’s Peace Proposal Breakdown!”

    CLANDESTINE, JUN 15, 2024

ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Putin outlined his proposal for peace in Ukraine, and it sounds pretty reasonable.

    -Ukraine must maintain neutral status

    -Ukraine must remain nuclear-free

    -Full demilitarization/denazification

    -Russian territories acknowledged

    -Formal international agreements

    -All sanctions against Russia lifted

Putin only wants to liberate the Russian-speaking parts of Ukraine, as has always been the case. He does not have any intentions of conquering Europe like NATO claim. Putin will stop advancing West, if NATO stop advancing East.

Putin just doesn’t want NATO’s armies and weapons on his border. This has always been a red line, and NATO crossed it, despite endless warnings from Russia.

If Russia tried to put nuclear missiles and armies on our border, every American would be concerned, and would approve of eliminating the threat. In fact, this already happened, see Cuban Missile Crisis 1962.

Putin is not going to sit back and let NATO build a proxy army of literal Nazis on his border. Russia have been invaded by Nazis multiple times in their history, and don’t intend on letting it happen again. The West can either try to negotiate with Putin, or he is going to completely demilitarize and denazify Ukraine himself, in order to ensure the current and future safety of the Russian People.

Putin is offering the West an off-ramp from their colossal failure in Ukraine, but yet, they refuse. The West’s only definition of victory includes the complete defeat of Russia, which is only possible with direct NATO intervention and thus WW3 and likely nuclear war.

Our only hope is for Trump to win, and negotiate an end to this conflict with Putin, before the warmongering Biden regime and NATO get us all killed.

(Map shows currently held Russian territory in yellow, and the additional land Putin wants in the proposal in red).”

EXCERPT: “In my mind, I can picture Donald J. Trump as a boy sitting with his favorite uncle, John G. Trump, listening to him talk, mesmerized by all the things he has to say.

I can imagine Uncle John must have seemed like a superhero to young Donny, whose middle name came from his uncle. I’m sure Donny loved and respected his father, but how could he compete with the stories Uncle John told, the information Uncle John knew, the life that Uncle John lived?Uncle John

Before getting into the meat of the feature, it’s worth seeing how Wikipedia (aka. the establishment) describes the history of Uncle John Trump … at least on the surface:

John George Trump (August 21, 1907 – February 21, 1985) was an American electrical engineer, inventor and physicist. A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1936 to 1973, he was a recipient of the National Medal of Science and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Trump was noted for developing rotational radiation therapy. Together with Robert J. Van de Graaff, he developed one of the first million-volt X-ray generators. He is the uncle of Donald Trump. (…)

    War Service

During World War II, Trump switched from work on hospital X-ray machines to research into similar technologies, especially the development of radar. During 1940, he joined the newly formed National Defense Research Committee (NDRC), as technical aide to Karl Compton, president of MIT, who was serving also as the chairman of the radar division within the NDRC.

During 1942, Trump became secretary of the microwave committee, a sub-committee of the NDRC. (…)

The new institution came to be called the MIT Radiation Laboratory, or the “Rad Lab”. As wartime shortages in Britain increased, many of its radar researchers would move to the well-funded laboratory at MIT, where they helped create groundbreaking progress in developing practical devices and systems, which would see widespread field deployment in combat.

The British had already started researching radar, which they termed Radio Direction Finder (RDF). Their Tizard Mission to the US showed how much more advanced they were with some of the key technologies, particularly the magnetron. The US decided to send a team to Britain to help coordinate their efforts with the “British Branch of the Radiation Laboratory” (BBRL), which operated as a department of Britain’s Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) at Malvern, in Worcestershire. From February 1944 to the end of the war in Europe, Trump was the director of the BBRL.

In early 1943, two days after the death of Nikola Tesla, the Federal Bureau of Investigation ordered the Office of Alien Property Custodian to seize Tesla’s belongings. Trump was called in to analyze the Tesla artifacts, which were being held in government custody. After a three-day investigation, Trump’s report concluded that there was nothing which would constitute a hazard in unfriendly hands.

During the war, Trump also served in the Advisory Specialist Group on Radar, advising USAAF General Carl Spaatz on navigational radar, precision-bombing radar, and also defenses against the German radars found in their night-fighters and in their flak units. (…)

At the end of the war, Trump also conducted debriefing interviews with Germany’s main radar technicians. Trump received recognition for his war-work partnership from both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Harris announces $1.5 billion in aid for Ukraine at peace summit

Against the battlefield backdrop and diplomatic strategizing, the summit in Switzerland will focus on nuclear safety, humanitarian assistance and global food security.

[…]Harris, standing in for President Joe Biden, said the $1.5 billion included $500 million in new funding for energy assistance and $324 in redirected funds toward emergency energy infrastructure repair.

“These efforts will help Ukraine respond to Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine energy infrastructure by supporting repair and recovery, improving Ukraine’s resilience to energy supply disruptions, and laying the groundwork to repair and expand Ukraine’s energy system,” Harris’ office said.

More than $379 million from the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development will go toward helping millions of people impacted by the war, including refugees.

The announcement came after Biden and his counterparts from the wealthiest democratic nations reached a deal Thursday to give Ukraine a $50 billion loan this year backed by frozen Russian assets, signaling a determined commitment to beat back Russia’s invasion, U.S. officials said.

“The current assessment is that the ‘Nemera’ armored vehicle got hit as a result of an explosion of a side bomb. In addition, on the vehicle there were engineering tools that include explosive materiel. The explosion was significant and may have been caused by the ignition of the explosive materiel on the vehicle. All this is not supposed to happen and therefore the incident is being examined,” the IDF said.

According to The Jerusalem Post, Capt. Wassem Mahmoud, 23, and seven other IDF soldiers were killed when their armored vehicle exploded in Rafah, in southern Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid tribute to the soldiers Saturday evening. “Our hearts shatter into pieces at the enormity of this loss. The entire nation of Israel embraces the precious families in their time of deep sorrow. I strengthen our courageous fighters and commanders, who are dedicated to the sacred mission of defeating our enemies and bringing back our,” he said.

“When the price is so heavy, we must remember what we are fighting for: we are fighting to ensure our existence and our future, we are fighting to bring back all our hostages,” Netanyahu continued.

“Eight of our best sons were killed in Rafah,” Israel’s foreign minister Israel Katz wrote on the social media platform, X. “While knowing the price, they bravely entered Gaza to complete the mission of destroying Hamas and freeing the hostages.”

CNN reports that this is one of the deadliest incidents involving troops since the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack into Israel by Hamas. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry reports that 30 people have been killed and 95 injured in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.”
