I was intrigued by the name of this article I found on balconygarden.web. (I discovered upcycled is simply repurposed.) I hope some of these ideas spark your imagination! (Tutorials can be found at the website.)

  1. Morning All!
    50* this morning, but it looks like the skies are clear! sun is coming up and peeking thru the trees.
    going to look for marigolds for the garden border today. when we got the vegetable plants, the 2 centers we go to for plants had a very sparse selection of marigolds. so hopefully today it’ll be better.

    1. Good morning, Pat! Another day with storm clouds on the horizon….I’m tired of this crap!!! I was going to put the hanging plants back out but not now! SMH – 55 on the thermometer, with a slight breeze so far. The Orioles seem to be drinking the nectar as much as eating the jelly! They empty the feeder every day and I often have to refill it mid-day.

      On another note…..I am thrilled! Since my saved seeds that I planted didn’t come up, I replanted with the seeds I saved in the envelope vs. in the sealed glass bottle. It’s possible it’s because I added the potting soil but I don’t think so – all 4 of those have now produced seedlings! Yeah!!! Lesson learned: forget the glass bottle!!!

      Interesting re-purposing ideas but they would require skills that I don’t possess. And the shovels as bird feeders? Yeah, good luck with that with those pesky squirrels! It wouldn’t last long around here! I’m seriously considering how I could poison those bastids w/o hurting any other wildlife! LOL

        1. I already thought of that but I have to open the exterior patio door in order to shoot either one and the squirrels high-tail it waaay up in the cottonwood tree when they hear the door open. I’m not going to sit out there for hours waiting for them to come down!

  3. the judge unsealed the search warrant and because the President questioned the use of lethal force, Jack Smith made a motion that the conditions of his release should be “modified” to prohibit communication going forward. Smith says the fib who participated in the raid are scared.

  9. Just The News: “Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton said that his main focus going into the upcoming election is making sure the Democratic Party doesn’t steal it. 

    “My primary concern really is not focusing on what’s happening after the election, it’s primarily focusing on winning the election and making sure they don’t steal it,” Paxton said on the Friday edition of the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “Because there’s no way that Joe Biden beats President Trump given what Biden has done to the economy, given what’s happened internationally, given what’s happened before…there’s not a good story for Biden to tell,” he continued. 

    Earlier this week, Trump said that he would consider nominating Paxton to be U.S. attorney general in his next administration.

    The attorney general said that one of his main concerns was illegal immigrants voting in the upcoming election. “I believe [it’s] the strategy that the Biden administration will rely on … like they did mail-in-ballots last time,” Paxton said. 

    The GOP-led House passed a bill earlier this week repealing a 2022 Washington D.C. law that allows noncitizens to vote in local elections.”

        boy that Amish garden center we stopped at on the way to mom’s had an infinitely better selection, more color options and was cheaper by far

  17. as i said above, we had to travel to 2 garden centers to get flowers and we passed by a small lake/recreation area on the way. there on the side of the road was a mama deer nosing her newborn fawn along…trying to get it off the side of the road and into the grass. we stopped–put on the four ways and didn’t move till she got him safely off the roadside.

    1. And now I’m back! LOL – picked up a bigger nectar feeder of the same type that the Orioles have been hitting so hard. The other one is very small for hummers and this way, they won’t be fighting over it so much and I won’t have to refill it as often. I grabbed a couple more WP blocks since they are going thru them so fast. That should last until I get my rebate check from Menards, which I will use to get more – I should be able to get 10 for $50! I also had to refill the jelly again! Voracious critters!

      Never did get any rain; it’s still cloudy but they are thin clouds, and it’s kind of breezy but not bad, altho I’m not hanging up the planters yet. I snagged another small watermelon, too. I cut it into quarters and put each quarter in a zip lock bag then pull out a quarter at a time.

      I got another e-mail from Burpees claiming my seeds had been delivered – nope, not in my mailbox! Never again and now I don’t really need them anyway. Oh well – they’ll keep!

    WARNING and NOTICE to all states with epoll books: This is how they are going to try and steal the November 5, 2024 election in Wisconsin and it very well could play out in your state:

     inflate the voter rolls this time using illegals pouring over the southern boarder. Then “register” them electronically over time, or on election day (here we have same-day registration as election day) – using epoll books. They are called Badger Books here. Badger Books were made by Paragon out of Brookfield, WI, until a Toronto company bought them one year after they got the contract with the Wis. Election Commission. That company is Converge Technology Solutions Corp., with plants in Chengdu Shi, Quingdao Shi and Shenzhen Shi China. Per the WIS DMV at a recent State Senate hearing, 78,000 illegals were admitted to have been given driver’s licenses. Unconfirmed yet: it is looking like it is higher than that. 

     So the 78,000 get “registered” by Badger Books. But not like you’d expect. Here’s how: a voter appears at the polls and signs in for the first time using Badger epoll books. Let’s call this the 1st election. However, the next and thus 2nd election the voter was out of town and did not vote at all himself. Ahh…but a ballot was cast in his name for the 2nd election. But you ask where did his signature come from to check in for the 2nd election? It came from the 1st election when he did sign in, Badger Books kept his signature on file. It was reproduced by the Badger Books system for the 2nd election, an election the real person never participated in.

    We have another eye witness to this, and victim, she was out of state on vacation for the 2nd election. Yet a ballot was cast in her name. She told the clerk, but the clerk pulled up her own electronic signature and said ‘see, you signed in’. Yes she did, for the 1st election, but not the 2nd. So ask how can a guy who was out of town for the 2nd election, and a lady out of state for the 2nd election, both cast ballots in the 2nd election? Answer: they didn’t. Somebody did it for them, electronically.  Last, the Wis Election Commission ruled by themselves Badger Books don’t have to be certified.

    1. Thankfully, NE doesn’t use any of those machines – just a scanner to scan the ballots into the system. And they are pretty diligent about re-checking a percentage of them by hand from different areas around the state.
