This month’s popcorn recipe is Maple Crunch Popcorn.

Ingredients
10 cups popped popcorn (purchased bagged popcorn can be used)
1-1/2 cups chopped pecans, toasted
1-1/3 cups sugar
1 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
Instructions
Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside. Place popcorn in a large bowl then set aside too.
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, maple syrup, corn syrup and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat until a candy thermometer reads 300° (hard-crack stage).
Remove from the heat; stir in maple flavoring and chopped pecans. Quickly pour over popcorn mixture and mix well.
Transfer to baking sheets lined with waxed paper to cool. Break into clusters. Store in airtight containers.
Notes
You could pop your own popcorn. However, I like that bagged popcorn doesn’t have as many kernels and it’s not burned.
Store leftover popcorn in an airtight food storage container.
ENJOY!
Morning All
looks like MORE rain today…sigh.
I was soaked to the bone last evening after shopping at walmart. we got caught in a furious thunderstorm. hubby ran for the truck while i waited inside and then i ran out and got the groceries in the backseat of the truck. by the time i was finished i literally looked like i fell in a swimming pool. sigh
Thanks again Filly for the pans…I bought a white cake mix yesterday –and the box got soaked–so i guess i am making a cake in one of those pans this morning!

Good morning! Good – I’m glad they will get used! You can see why the squirrels were able to chew it up so easily! Those bastids just will NOT leave me alone! Yesterday, while I had the patio doors open and the doggie door covered, with Jake out on the patio sniffing around…..I heard this chewing noise. I thought it was something chewing on the wood but when I stepped out, I noted Jake’s deeply focused attention at the bottom right corner of the exterior door and looked outside. That damned squirrel was trying to chew thru the cover!!! And that makes me wonder just how much of the cat food had actually been eaten by the squirrel!!!
Another storm predicted for later today, with high winds again…..sigh….I’m tired of moving hanging plants! Enough already!!! We’ve got sunshine at the moment, supposed to hit the low 80’s before the storm moves in.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene
@RepMTG
I posted this on the day the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago after Merrick Garland ordered it and gave the green light to kill anyone that stood in the way. The FBI stole Pres Trump’s passport, financial records, and medical records along with confiscating documents that NARA had approved, packed, and delivered to MAL. The FBI then staged the scene and took pictures that Jack Smith wrongfully used in court to frame Pres Trump in the fake documents lawfare case, while giving Biden a full pass on his decades worth of classified docs all over the place including sloppily by his corvette in his garage that anyone could steal. Democrats declared war on us and weaponized the full power of the justice system the minute they took power. They are trying to lock Trump up for life, are prosecuting over 400 Republicans across the country for fighting for election integrity in 2020, and are putting thousands of people in jail for protesting the 2020 election on January 6, 2020. Now Democrats are going after Justice Alito for an upside down flag being flown at his house. WE SHOULD ALL BE FLYING THE FLAG UPSIDE DOWN!!!

Obama State Dept blocked FBI from arresting supporters of Iran nuclear program in US: Emails
The State Department blocked arrests of several individuals suspected of aiding Iran’s nuclear program as the Obama administration was negotiating the JCPOA
Grassley and Johnson received unclassified and legally protected whistleblower disclosures which they say show that “while the Obama-Biden administration publicly committed to ‘preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons by raising the cost of Iran’s defiance of the international community,’ then-Secretary of State John Kerry actively interfered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation executing arrest warrants on individuals in the U.S. illegally supporting Iranian efforts, including financial efforts, to develop weapons of mass destruction and its ballistic missile program.”
The records, according to the senators, show that the Justice Department and FBI leadership, including then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and then-FBI Director James Comey “failed to take the necessary steps to stop Kerry’s obstructive efforts against law enforcement.”
One email — an unclassified FBI email from August 25, 2017 — detailed at least eight instances connected to the Iran nuclear deal where “the FBI/DOJ/USG could have moved forward with the cases but the State Department chose to block them.”
“The records provided to our office show that the Obama/Biden administration’s State Department, under the leadership of John Kerry, actively and persistently interfered with FBI operations pertaining to lawful arrests of known terrorists, members of Iranian proliferation networks, and other criminals providing material support for Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs,” Grassley and Johnson wrote.

RFK Jr. says he would give black farmers $5B in reparations — despite ruling that it’s unconstitutional ~
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said he will support giving black farmers $5 billion in reparations once in office —
“When I’m in the White House… I’m going to get rid of those people in USDA and get that money,” Kennedy told John Boyd Jr., the founder of the National Black Farmers Association,
“That $5 billion is not money, that is an entitlement,” the 70-year-old added. “It’s money that was a loan that black farmers were entitled to way back when and was stolen from them through discrimination.”

This was a thing with Obama who gave black farmers 1.25 billion in 2010. Michelle Bachmann said the first settlement was ‘rife with fraud’ and I recall many of the black ‘farmers’ were wealthy people such as sports players, that used farms as a write off by not growing anything.
This along with student loans is not about fairness, it is about buying votes.

Hacked Primary Ballot Unveils MASSIVE Security Flaw in Texas Elections.
A lawsuit filed in Texas alleges that a “willful and systematic disregard of election laws” has allowed a breach in ballot secrecy, impacting most of the state’s voters. The lawsuit, filed by Dr. Laura Pressley and several other voters, contends that the state, in failing to comply with its own election rules, has created a security flaw that allows anyone to reverse engineer for whom a voter cast their ballot.
According to Dr. Pressley’s lawsuit, public information paired with specific data mining techniques can reveal voter choices. Hacking a ballot is accomplished through an algorithm that can decrypt the randomized ID numbers assigned to voters. While the randomized ID numbers are only used by some of the electronic voting machines in the state, they appear to be used prevalently in the state’s most populous counties. Texas state election law, however, actually stipulates that voter ID numbers must be consecutively numbered.
GOP CHAIRMAN’S HACKED BALLOT.
The ballot security flaw was recently used by the independent Texas news outlet Current Revolt to expose for which candidates for office Matt Rinaldi, the chairman of the Republican Party of Texas (RPT), voted during the state’s Super Tuesday 2024 primary election. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Rinaldi claimed he voted for former President Donald J. Trump in the March primary. However, the ballot copy acquired by Current Revolt shows that he voted for Governor Ron DeSantis. The Florida Governor dropped out of the Republican presidential primary race weeks before the Texas primary.
Experts such as Dr. Walter Daugherity from Texas A&M University have verified a repetitive pattern in the random number generation used to assign ballots, adding credibility to Dr. Pressley’s claims. The process — detailed in the lawsuit — shows how unique ballot numbers can be linked back to individual voters, making ballot secrecy an illusion.

EXCERPT: “A new cache of documents from the IRS whistleblowers released Wednesday by the House Ways and Means Committee show how the Central Intelligence Agency directly intervened to prevent the IRS investigators from interviewing Hunter Biden lawyer and benefactor Kevin Morris.
The CIA’s involvement in the case was first suggested in earlier this year when the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees wrote a letter to Director William Burns that revealed impeachment investigators had at least one whistleblower who alleged the spy agency tried to interfere with a witness interview in the case, Just the News previously reported.
“According to the whistleblower, in August 2021, when IRS investigators were preparing to interview Patrick Kevin Morris, an associate of Hunter Biden, the CIA intervened to stop the interview,” Chairmen Jim Jordan and James Comer wrote. “Two DOJ officials were allegedly summoned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia for a briefing regarding Mr. Morris. At that meeting, it was communicated that Mr. Morris could not be a witness during the investigation.”
The new documents show IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler provided documents to the committee detailing the CIA’s intervention.
According to Shapley’s affidavit of the incident, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf from the Delaware prosecutor’s office in charge of the case and the Department of Justice Tax Division Attorney Jack Morgan were summoned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, for a briefing.
At the meeting, the officials were given a classified briefing and were told by the CIA that the IRS “could no longer pursue” Kevin Morris as a witness in their case. Wolf did not share CIA’s reasoning with the IRS whistleblowers, who then requested their own briefing from the intelligence agency through Wolf.
According to Shapley’s account, Wolf ultimately failed to secure a briefing for the case investigators.
“Although AUSA Wolf initially appeared to be receptive to facilitating a briefing for me on the information, she ignored multiple attempts by me to arrange the briefing. Since obtaining this briefing was outside of my control, eventually I was forced to accept it would not happen,” Shapley wrote in his affidavit. “However, it served as yet another example of deviations from normal investigative processes in this matter.”
You can read Shapley’s affidavit below….”

Just The News: “(The Center Square) — The Republican governors of two dozen states, including Georgia and South Carolina, penned a letter to President Joe Biden opposing the World Health Organization’s proposed “Pandemic Agreement,” which they said could “undermine national sovereignty” and states’ rights.
The state executives argue the treaty “would seek to elevate the WHO from an advisory body to a global authority in public health.” They contend the proposed accord could also allow the WHO to establish “a global surveillance infrastructure” and force participants to censor free speech.
On Tuesday, 93.3% of voters in Georgia’s Republican primary said “unelected and unaccountable international bureaucrats,” such as those at the WHO, should not have “complete control over management of future pandemics in the United States and authority to regulate your healthcare and personal health choices.” The vote is nonbinding, but it could guide legislative action when Peach State lawmakers meet again next year.
In their letter, the governors said that “if adopted, these agreements would seek to elevate the WHO from an advisory body to a global authority in public health.
“Under the proposed amendments and treaty, the WHO’s Director-General would supposedly gain unilateral power to declare a ‘public health emergency of international concern’ (PHEIC) in member nations, extending beyond pandemics to include a range of perceived emergencies,” the governors added. The “proposals could erode state sovereignty by granting the WHO’s Director-General the authority to dictate responses to a declared PHEIC, stripping elected representatives of their role in setting public health policies and compelling citizens to comply with WHO directives, potentially including mandates regarding medical treatments.”
Govs. Kay Ivey of Alabama, Mike Dunleavy of Alaska, Sarah Sanders of Arkansas, Ron DeSantis of Florida, Brian Kemp of Georgia, Brad Little of Idaho, Eric Holcomb of Indiana, Kim Reynolds of Iowa, Jeff Landry of Louisiana, Tate Reeves of Mississippi, Greg Gianforte of Montana, Jim Pillen of Nebraska, Joe Lombardo of Nevada, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, Henry McMaster of South Carolina, Kristi Noem of South Dakota, Bill Lee of Tennessee, Greg Abbott of Texas, Spencer Cox of Utah, Glenn Youngkin of Virginia, Jim Justice of West Virginia and Mark Gordon of Wyoming signed the letter.”

Our Take: “We all needed a feel-good story, and here comes our boy Un to deliver in spades.
It’s become increasingly clear that whoever was controlling the Kim family lost that control during the Trump administration. Since then, Kim has exited the world stage and rug-pulled John Bolton’s wet dream of a worldwide nuclear holocaust. The visual of Bolton yapping at President Trump like an annoying little lap dog, nipping at his ankles through the mustache as Trump leaves to meet Un at the DMZ is just too perfect.
Un’s quote: ‘I have a daughter and I do not wish her generation to live with nuclear weapons… Why would we continue to live in difficulty, under sanctions, with nuclear weapons if our security can be guaranteed?’ must have made Bolton apoplectic. The hegemony’s former ‘madman’ employing not only rational common sense, but also flexing the empathetic dad-card. Bravo, Un. Well played, Sir.
I really have grown fond of Un, which is a far cry from how I once felt about him, when I believed my government’s propaganda. I’d love to see him team up with The Donald of yesteryear and transform his country into a thriving civilization. Trump did say that he thought North Korean beaches had the potential to become world class resorts. I don’t think he was just blowing smoke up Un’s skirt.
See you at the victory parade, Mr. Supreme Leader.” —

“Taiwan on High Alert as Chinese Ships Swarm”
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Taiwan‘s defense ministry reported Wednesday the presence of seven Chinese navy ships and four Chinese coast guard vessels operating in the waters surrounding the island. Taiwan’s armed forces have deployed naval vessels and coastal missile systems to counter these movements. Notably, for the third consecutive day, no Chinese military aircraft were detected in Taiwan’s air defense zone, which typically sees frequent incursions.
China lays claim to Taiwan, and Chinese leaders have threatened military action if Taiwan attempts to declare formal independence. Taipei maintains it will not pursue such a declaration.
Beijing continues to use economic incentives and coercive measures to integrate Taiwan’s businesses and populace. Concurrently, the United States — Taiwan’s chief international supporter — is preparing for the possibility of a conflict over the island, which has significant trade relations with the U.S.
Tensions have been simmering since February around Taiwan’s Kinmen islands close to China’s east coast. The situation escalated after two Chinese fishermen died during a pursuit by Taiwan’s coast guard over an alleged maritime intrusion. In response, the Chinese coast guard vowed to protect the interests of its fishermen, leading to increased Chinese naval activity in the region.
On May 14, Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration reported an incursion into Kinmen waters by five Chinese ships. The Taiwanese coast guard deployed six small boats in response. Footage released showed a Chinese maritime police vessel leading the patrol for a record fifth time in one month. Taiwan’s coast guard described this activity as dangerous and a threat to peace in the Taiwan Strait.
In testimony before the U.S. House Armed Services Committee in March, Admiral John Aquilino, head of the Indo-Pacific Command, said China will invade Taiwan by 2027.”

“Fauci aide triggers deeper concerns about hidden emails on COVID origins”
Posted: May 22, 2024 by Emily Kopp, US Right to Know
EXCERPT: “Testimony from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Senior Scientific Advisor David Morens — a longtime aide to former NIAID Director Anthony Fauci — only deepened congressional concerns about the possibility of concealed or destroyed emails concerning connections between the institute and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
A memo and over 150 emails released by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Wednesday show that Morens spent considerable time and energy avoiding the Freedom of Information Act — a law that requires federal agency records to be provided to the public on request with limited exceptions.
Morens deleted sensitive emails, conducted official business on a private email account, and worked with an NIAID administrator in the Freedom of Information Office to strategically misspell keywords that the public might request to be searched, the committee alleges.
Morens sought to conceal emails in which he championed his close friend EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak, a scientist who subcontracted NIAID funding to the lab in Wuhan for experiments that made coronaviruses more deadly. Morens said that he and Daszak met twenty years ago and were part of the same close knit “fraternity” among emerging infectious diseases experts.
The subpoenaed emails make clear that Morens repeatedly advocated for EcoHealth and Daszak from within Fauci’s inner circle — serving as an intermediary between Daszak and Fauci — and often using his private Gmail account to shuttle messages.
One email released by the committee suggests that Fauci himself may have subverted public records requests through use of a personal email account, bypassing official channels.
“I can either send stuff to Tony on his private email or hand it to him at work or at his house,” Morens emailed on April 21, 2021. “He is too smart to let colleagues send him stuff that could cause trouble.” ……

Menards has the annuals in one section and the perennials in another, which is really handy – I think they only stock plants that can grow in our zone. Within the last few years, they have expanded so much they have almost doubled their size since I was renovating this place. The bank next to them closed so they bought that land and added a ton of warehouse space. I spent a shit-ton of $$$ with them when I was renovating.
USDA has broken NE down into 4 different categories, depending on where you live in the state:
“Nebraska has four zones in the state as indicated on the new 2023 USDA plant hardiness map. The Nebraska planting map includes 4b, 5a, 5b, and 6a. The majority of the state experiences extreme winter low temperatures of -25 degrees F. to -10 degrees F. (-29 to -23 C.). Knowing which planting zone you are in helps to ensure you will not lose plants over the winter months.”

Wow! That was a first! I saw some kind of duck (I haven’t been able to identify it for sure but I think it’s a wood duck) parading her brood of chicks – I think there were 7 or 8 – across my backyard! I’ve never seen them here before. She was trying to find her way into the back field, I expect, and couldn’t find her way thru the fence. She had to have found a big enough spot to even get into the yard but there are places where the openings are slightly larger. I glanced outside and saw them, grabbed my camera and stepped outside – the squirrel was going nuts in the tree, chattering away at her!
That scared her and she scuttled away down the fence line, while her chicks all stopped dead in their tracks and huddled together. After a few seconds, she turned around and started chirping loudly to them and they all scuttled over to join her. They proceeded down the fence line to the east so I went over and opened the east gate and planned to kind of herd them out that way. But by the time I got that done and went to look for them, they had managed to get thru the fence at the SE corner. How exciting!!!
This was when she was running away and they stopped (dodging the bark all over the place!)

Just The News: “The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Thursday in favor of South Carolina Republicans, finding that legislators had not conducted a racial gerrymander of the district.
“The circumstantial evidence falls far short of showing that race, not partisan preferences, drove the districting process,” Associate Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the majority, NBC News reported.
The First Congressional District at issue includes much of the state’s southern coastal territory and is currently represented by GOP Rep. Nancy Mace, who first won election in 2020.
In March of this year, a lower court permitted the state’s district lines to remain in effect for the 2024 elections, citing the impracticality of adopting alternative maps in time for the contests.
The ruling is a key win for Republicans, who currently maintain a narrow majority in the House of Representatives.”

Democrats attempted to send the bill back to committee but that effort failed on the House floor.
In April, the D.C. Board of Elections held a training session for noncitizens interested in registering to vote.
The House Administration Committee is scheduled to mark up legislation on Thursday that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote across the nation. Given GOP control of the committee, that bill is likely to pass and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has said he would bring it to the floor for a vote.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As controversy continued to swirl around Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demanded to know where Alito bought an upside-down U.S. flag.
After reports surfaced that an inverted American flag had been spotted flying over Alito’s home, AOC issued a statement calling for the source of Alito’s offensive flag so that the vendor could be reprimanded appropriately.
“Where does someone even get an upside-down American flag, anyway?” Ocasio-Cortez asked reporters. “Every store that sells flags should know how offensive an inverted U.S. flag is and should never manufacture or sell them to anyone. I think we all deserve to know where Justice Alito was able to purchase an upside-down American flag, don’t you?”
AOC even went as far as to threaten legislative action to hold Alito accountable. “Don’t even think I won’t get to the bottom of this,” she said. “Anyone who is selling inverted American flags should be publicly outed as un-American and a threat to democracy itself! As a Supreme Court judge, Justice Alito must be held to a higher standard. If there is some type of black market for upside-down U.S. flags, the American people deserve to know about it.”
AOC expressed concern that more people would begin purchasing upside-down American flags if they were made easily attainable. “The next thing you know,” she warned, “everyone will be able to have an inverted flag.”
At publishing time, AOC was unable to be reached for further comment due to getting her head stuck between the spindles of the U.S. Capitol staircase banister.

“Democrats Release Damning Photo Of Justice Alito Reading The Constitution”
U.S. · May 23, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In yet another scandal involving the conservative Supreme Court judge, Democrats released a damning photograph of Justice Samuel Alito reading the Constitution.
After releasing the photo, Democrats argued that Justice Alito had clearly been radicalized and could not be trusted to make impartial rulings on the constitutionality of any case due to the fact that he had read the Constitution in the past.
“This is shameful behavior unbecoming of any Supreme Court judge,” argued Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. “To think that we have had a dangerous extremist sitting on our highest court this whole time is terrifying. Can you believe it? A Supreme Court justice engaging in troubling activities like reading the U.S. Constitution, a well-known white supremacist document often cited by white supremacists? This scandal will shake our judicial branch to its core.”
Other leading Democrats wasted no time in calling for Justice Alito to be removed from the court, or for him to recuse himself from any case involving the Constitution. “This is just the tip of the iceberg,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said. “I’ve received reports that Justice Alito used to repeatedly pledge his allegiance to the American flag when he was in grade school. He has clearly held dangerous, right-wing views his entire life. We can’t stand for this type of extremism.”
At publishing time, the scandal surrounding Justice Alito had intensified after video footage was uncovered showing him shooting off fireworks and grilling hotdogs on the 4th of July while wearing an American flag tank top.

yup she must have just had it yesterday I’m guessing.
once she gives birth, she cleans it off and gets it moving immediately.
to stay there would be dangerous for the little one.
the scent of birth attracts the turkey vultures, coyotes and bears

I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.

Oh, good – I was curious if it was different with the silicone pan since the only thing silicone I’ve used vis-a-vis cooking is the MW omelet maker.
