As promised, today’s recipe is Katharine Hepburn’s Brownies!

From the epicurious website:
The best recipe I have for brownies comes from a friend who got it from a magazine article about Katharine Hepburn. It is, apparently, her family’s.
Ingredients
1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation
1. Melt together 1 stick butter and 2 squares unsweetened chocolate and take the saucepan off the heat.
2. Stir in 1 cup sugar, add 2 eggs and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and beat the mixture well.
3. Stir in 1/4 cup all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt. (In the original recipe, 1 cup chopped walnuts is added here as well.)
4. Bake the brownies in a buttered and floured 8-inch-square pan at 325°F for about 40 minutes.
You can cut these brownies into squares, once they have cooled, and eat them out of the pan, but it is so much nicer to pile them on a fancy plate, from which people are going to eat them with their hands anyway. If you want to smarten up your act you can put a square of brownie on a plate with a little blob of créme fraîche and a scattering of shaved chocolate.
ENJOY!
The Bistro at the Village serves Brownies a la mode – a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. Sally looooves ’em!!!

PS – As a Southern gal – I’m using pecans in my brownies. In fact, I’d probably sprinkle them on top with a dash of salt to get that extra toasted pecan flavor!

PPS – I’ve always preferred Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies with pecans of course – over brownies.
The Bistro puts Toll House Chocolate Chips in their brownies and their brownies are the chewy gooey kind.

Forgot to say Good Morning, Miss Pat! Today is another bad weather day – tornado warnings this morning in my city. I won’t be going home until tomorrow and spend Wed and Thu nights – come back to the Village Fri am. I need see what’s going home with my water meter, get the mail, do the yard, laundry, errands, etc. Need an oil change in both cars, my older van and the newer wheelchair van soon.

Morning All!
we had some more excitement last evening. hubby was resetting the trap on the deck and called me out to see something. a porcupine had been chewing/scratching on the front beam (roof support) and on the deck railing. it’s stained wood, so you can see where it chewed. sigh
so hubby figured we might need to get rid of it if we saw it. (you’re not supposed to shoot them, but when we first moved up here and started seeing the damage they were doing to our log home, I called the game warden. i wanted to see if they had any remedies or traps or suggestion. He told me if they’re doing damage, lead ball them. it’s okay.) so we always take photos of the damage just in case. then i went out to check the furniture and there was a porky at the salt block. hubby dispatched it. now we have to stained and try to repair the damage.

Morning, Pat! I didn’t know that about porcupines! Thankfully, I’ve never seen one here. I can see that Wheezer came and ate during the night and he’s out stalking birds in the garden beds at the moment; now, he’s over at the cottonwood tree – get that bitch squirrel, Wheezer!!! We’ve got sunshine for Primary day in NE. I’ll do that later before I run to Bomgaars for the white zip ties to connect the trellis panels and maybe see if they have some white t-posts. I’ll stop at the PO while I’m at it and send you those pans.

we’ve got a little sunshine at the moment, but clouds are thickening.
which part didn’t you know about the porkies? I usually see them in the tree tops before the leaves come out–they like the leaf buds–but this year we didn’t.

oh yeah. when we first built the house, we had simple wooden stairs –untreated wood–because we knew we were building the deck. one night watching tv we heard the strangest sounds–there was a family of porkies eating the stairs. they had half moons chewed in the bottom 3!
everyone we then spoke to said to use pressure treated wood…then came the suggestion to spray everything with hot sauce. finally i called the game warden.
we were just out looking and sure enough several of the deck supports (even though they are definitely pressure treated) have nibble marks!

Hey, Chris Wray ! How’s that search for “white extremists” going?
Marine Corp Veteran Charged With Making Threats to Kill White People in Mass Shooting
Former Marine Joshua Cobb has been arrested for making threats on the internet to commit a mass attack against white people.
Cobb, who was discharged from the U.S. Marines in 2023, was arrested and charged with “one count of transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce.”
In December of 2022, Cobb wrote on social media, “I want to cause mayhem on the white community. The reason i specifically want to target white people is because as a black male, they will NEVER understand my struggles”
“I want to erase them. All of them, really, but in this case, as many as I possibly can. As of today, I have officially begun planning my attack. It is going to take place in 2023 in the state of New Jersey.” added Cobb
In another sinister post, Cobb wrote “Imagine the rush you’d feel while shooting some sh*t up. Probably could get literally high off the adrenaline alone. I’d probably OD on my own adrenaline after the 10th body goes down.”

“Biggest Rally Ever! How Wildwood Catapulted MAGA To Heights Never Seen Before In American History — Trump’s Wildwood rally, which commanded a record-breaking 100,000+ crowd, was the largest political rally in New Jersey history – and quite possibly, the largest presidential rally ever.”
PAUL INGRASSIA, MAY 14, 2024
EXCERPT: “President Trump’s rally on Saturday in Wildwood, New Jersey was historic for a number of reasons. Its record-breaking, 100,000+ turnout was the largest political event in New Jersey history – and quite possibly, the largest presidential rally ever, at least in modern times. Perhaps even more remarkable is the fact that such an historic turnout occurred in deep-blue New Jersey, a state that has not voted for a Republican president since George H.W. Bush way back in 1988, nearly forty years ago.
President Trump, who, in 2020, garnered more votes than any presidential incumbent in American history, regaled the south New Jersey crowd with tales of his ongoing political persecution in neighboring New York, which he decried a “witch hunt” being carried out by a rogue D.A. and judge, both acting ultimately at the behest of Joe Biden and his weaponized DOJ.
President Trump’s barnstorming speech touched upon a smorgasbord of topics – from the ongoing Biden witch hunts to the catastrophic open border to conflict-riven Israel and Gaza to China’s monopolization of the global auto industry. From crime to inflation to the migrant crisis, President Trump, with arresting simplicity, articulated to his massive audience – many of whom endured unseasonably cool temperatures to catch a glimpse of the next President – how the Biden regime has caused virtually every single political malady afflicting America today. He described Biden as the worst president of all time and said that Biden does not even compare to the previous worst ten, and now fifteen, presidents added up.
Never has a so-called “president” in Biden waged an all-out assault against his likeliest successor the way Biden has against Trump; in large part owing to that fact, Trump now commands significant leads in virtually every reputable mainstream poll. What Biden is currently doing against Trump was, in the not-too-distant past, only seen in banana republics – never in American history has the Commander-in-Chief abandoned democracy and instead relied upon extralegal measures, like lawfare, election rigging, and flooding the electorate with third world aliens, to shore up his electoral prospects in the upcoming presidential race…..”

“Biden’s VA Gave $11M Bonuses to Execs Using Money Meant to Help Veterans”
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) officials approved an estimated $11 million in bonuses for high-ranking executives instead of using the funds for their intended purpose, according to an inspector general report. Congress authorized this misused money to hire and retain “critical skill” specialists to manage veterans‘ benefits resulting from health complications related to exposure to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other hazardous substances. Instead, the fund was used to pay out bonuses to over 180 senior executives at the VA’s central office in Washington.
The report outlines that the misappropriated bonuses, which averaged over $55,000 and, in some cases, exceeded $100,000, resulted from breakdowns of control and leadership at multiple levels within the VA. The report recommends that the “Secretary of Veterans Affairs or his designee takes appropriate action to determine whether individuals involved in the decision-making process … had any actual or apparent conflicts of interest and develop a process to ensure all decision-makers are free from conflicts when awarding future incentives.”
Troublingly, despite VA Secretary Denis McDonough’s September directive to return the bonuses, 19 executives have contested the repayment of the fund. Senator Jon Tester, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, emphasized the need for accountability and transparency from VA. The Democratic senator, in a statement to ABC News, referred to the incident as “an unacceptable misuse of bonuses intended to improve health care and benefits for veterans.”
The Biden VA has been the subject of several controversies. In March, it expanded tax-payer-funded IVF treatments to unmarried individuals and homosexuals.”

“UN Troops Being Brought in as Migrant Refugees — The United Nations plan for enforcing the Disease X lockdowns”
GREG REESE, MAY 14, 2024
(Video)
ENTIRE ARTICLE: “The southern border of the United States is wide open, and the Federal government has been conducting a wide-scale criminal operation of flooding the country with unvetted foreigners, distributing them across the United States, and providing them with homes and financial support. The GOP’s talking point has been that this is all about election fraud, but this has been happening all across the Western world for over a decade. This is something far more sinister than election fraud.
The Population Division of the United Nations concerns themselves with international migration. In the year 2000, they published Replacement Migration, a solution put forth to deal with declining and ageing populations. For years we were told that this was a conspiracy theory, but now that we are seeing tens of millions murdered by the experimental shots, it is becoming more clear what the objective is.
We are told that these are poor families fleeing tyranny, but there are massive amounts of healthy young men without any families. And time and time again we have seen them act violently against the native population, with very little repercussions from the law. As we are expecting the announcement of Disease X, and another lockdown, a recent report from the UK’s Jim Ferguson provides a plausible explanation of what we are seeing.
“This isn't normal. There's something not right. This isn't just refugees coming, these aren’t people fleeing from some kind of war zone. These are predominantly men aged between 25 and 35, young fighting age man, as my old boss, Nigel Farage once referred to them. And I think he's right. John, what do you think's going on here mate?” ~ Jim Ferguson“So I can tell you, these are UN soldiers and they will be deployed by the W.H.O. when they announce the next pandemic lockdown. That's what's going to happen. They've been trained by British soldiers. Been trained by the Black Watch Regiment. They were trained in Antalya, in Turkey, and in the east of Ukraine. They're predominantly down to sergeant ranks. They're then shipped to France. They all signed the Official Secrets Act, then they're ferried over. If you were fleeing war and tyranny, I don't know about you, but I would certainly take my wife and children with me. The most precious, They're my prized asset, you know, they're everything to me. If you're going to war, you go to war with lads. They gonna be deployed, they will be deployed.” ~ John O' Looney“John, I mean you say you spoke to people in the Black Watch. I mean, Black Watch, a very famous yellow regiment. Are they actually going along with this?” ~ Jim Ferguson"They've got no choice. I kind of said, you know, why are you doing it? And he said, soldiers follow orders. What you're going to see is the following, we'll have a minister somewhere in cabinets, suddenly come up with a great idea on how we're going to get these guys to contribute to help us. And they're going to put them in uniforms. A couple of people have told me these uniforms are burgundy. Others have told me they're U.N. blue. I really don't know. I guess we'll see when they deploy them. They are gonna be deployed. Because otherwise, if they announce another lockdown, what would everyone say? They'd say bollocks. And they’d go about their business wouldn’t they? They're gonna need armed young men in uniform to try and enforce it. Why did they import young men from the East? Because, traditionally, if you want to kill and tyrannize white people, you put black soldiers in. Because there's a cultural disassociation. And that's their method. That's the way these globalists are gonna do it.” ~ John O' Looney“You know, in America, when it was a colony of the United Kingdom of Britain, there was a revolution against British colonial rule.” ~ Jim Ferguson“That's right.” ~ John O' Looney“And, you know, a lot of people don't realize, but it was only 3% of those people in America that overthrew the British forces and basically got rid of them. 3% of the population, John.” ~ Jim Ferguson“I look forward to it. I'm ready, I'm ready. I can't wait because I know it's gonna be the beginning of the end for them. I do foresee victory. I see that at a very great cost. But we will see it. And people, I think the world will become closer than ever when we do see victory. It’s gonna come on the back of a load of bloodshed. And unfortunately, it has to. Once people of all colors come together and recognize their common enemy, We’ll walk over these people in ten minutes.” ~ John O' Looneyhttps://gregreese.substack.com/p/un-troops-being-brought-in-as-migrant

Our Take: “With the obvious out of the way from the outset—namely, that the Biden Administration is seen as so catastrophic by the Collective American Mind, it’s hemorrhaging incumbent support at a record-breaking pace—I thought the ALMOST unspoken fear by the CNN talking heads in this segment warranted a signal boost.
There have been many articles written and statistics cited throughout the year as to the ongoing shift of the black and hispanic communities toward Trump and away from Biden, but what’s particularly fascinating to see presented here—and what’s particularly terrifying to the media enablers watching it unfold—is the fact that the very Rust Belt minority counties Biden campaigned on in 2020 (when his handlers allowed him to,) are the ones even they admit are sharply turning in favor of Trump this time around.
We truly might be getting to the point where we see the Biden Admin and its media handlers pivoting toward widespread narrative attacks on American minorities and working class while boosting wealthy, highly-educated (in Marxist universities) whites as the true ‘working class’ of the country.
As for the MAGA and America First faithful? We’ll welcome all comers with the following vibes …” — Burning Bright

NF: We were seeing & smelling smoke here yesterday and they raised the air quality alert.
Just The News: “Four northern states have been placed under a low air quality alert as of Monday, as over 100 wildfires blaze in Canada, creating hazy conditions in the states.
Hundreds of wildfires in Canada last year caused some of the worst air quality in multiple cities across the United States, forcing millions of Americans to remain indoors. The fires impacted residents in New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and parts of the Midwest.
The fires this year have impacted residents in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana so far. Residents in Minnesota were placed in the red “unhealthy” zone on Sunday, because of a “band of very heavy smoke from wildfires in northeast British Columbia.” The alert expanded into Monday, but mostly affects the southern part of the state, per NBC News.
The other states had air quality ratings of either “moderate” or “unhealthy,” which are marked by the red, orange, and yellow colors. The worst color on the air quality chart overall is maroon, which means the air quality is “hazardous.”
Children, active adults, and people with respiratory diseases are instructed to avoid outdoor exertion if they are in the red zone. Everyone else should limit prolonged outdoor exertion, according to the American Lung Association. If people are under an orange alert, it means people with health conditions should limit outdoor activity, but if they are under a yellow alert then sensitive groups should consider limiting outdoor activities.
Cities in northern Montana remain in the yellow zone on Monday, but southern parts of the state are in the clear. Cities in North Dakota and South Dakota are primarily in the orange and yellow zones.
There are currently 146 wildfires spreading across Canada, and the Canadian government on Friday said that drought conditions “are expected to persist in high-risk regions in May.” This increases the “risk and intensity of both natural and human-caused wildfires.”
Dozens of fires in Alberta and British Columbia, which could affect Americans, are labeled “out of control” as of Monday.”

Just The News: “Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers is leading a 24-state lawsuit against the Biden administration’s electric trucking rule. The lawsuit argues that the rule exceeds the EPA’s authority.
As with the electric vehicle mandate that limits the total emissions an automaker’s production lines are allowed, the EPA’s heavy truck rule doesn’t mandate electric trucks. However, other technologies, such as hydrogen fuel cells, have larger infrastructure challenges than the charging infrastructure, as Kelley Blue Book reported, meaning transitioning to electric trucks will be the easiest route to compliance.
“This effort — coming at a time of heightened inflation and with an already-strained electrical grid — will devastate the trucking and logistics industry, raise prices for customers, and impact untold number of jobs across Nebraska and the country,” Hilgers said in a statement emailed to Just the News.
In a separate lawsuit, Nebraska, 16 other states, and the Nebraska Trucking Association are challenging the Advanced Clean Fleets, a suite of rules coming out of California, which requires certain trucking fleet owners and operators to retire internal-combustion trucks and transition to more expensive and less efficient electric trucks.”

Just The News: “Terrorist groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan are growing stronger and threatening the interests of the United States and its allies as well as security in the region, according to a report released Tuesday.
The United States Institute of Peace, the congressionally-established group that published the report, said that Afghanistan is a fertile area for terrorist threats compared to the time before the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.
Although the Taliban pledged to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a terrorist haven after it took over the country, the Taliban is providing “material support to terrorist groups,” the report states. Additionally, the Taliban’s educational policies include a curriculum that promotes jihad, or a religious war, as the path to change, which researchers warn may encourage Taliban followers to perform acts of extremism outside of Afghanistan.
“While the worst-case scenario concerning al-Qaeda’s reconstitution in
Afghanistan has not materialized, that group and its South Asia affiliate continue to maintain ties with and receive support from the Taliban and to call for attacks against US citizens, allies, and partners (including India) and US interests,” the report states.
While the Taliban is cracking down on the Islamic State of Khorasan and has effectively reduced the group’s acts of terror in Afghanistan since the group killed 13 U.S. service members and more than 150 others during the hectic withdrawal, there are concerns the group may attempt acts of terrorism in the future outside of Afghanistan.
The institute also advised U.S. policymakers to focus on mitigating terror threats.”

I decided against using the old fencing around the outside; it’s a totally different style and wouldn’t look good with the curly-Q trellis panels. And it’s very old – I got it my first summer here, 11 years ago! But I did spray paint the dark green t-posts – I’ll get those in as soon as the paint is good and dry.

At the 24:48 point of the video, when Tucker says re: free speech: “…you can’t have democracy if people can’t say what they think….” Aaron educated him about why it is important to recognize that the US is a constitutional republic – “democracy always falls into fascism…” YESSSS!!!!! Finally!!!

FBI STUDY: More Law Enforcement Officers “Feloniously Killed” Under Biden/Garland DOJ Than in Any Other 3-year Period in Past 20 Years
ANALYSIS: Under the Biden Administration, “from 2021 to 2023, more officers were feloniously killed (194) than in any other consecutive three-year period in the past 20 years
POLITICAL MOONSHINE, MAY 14, 2024
EXCERPT: “Under the Biden Administration, “from 2021 to 2023, more officers were feloniously killed (194) than in any other consecutive three-year period in the past 20 years (73 officers in 2021, 61 officers in 2022, and 60 officers in 2023).” Today, the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program released Officers Killed and Assaulted in the Line of Duty, 2023 Special Report, which is the source for that historically unsettling data point. The FBI study includes data from the Law Enforcement Employee Counts on the FBI’s Crime Data Explorer, linked at cde.ucr.cjis.gov. In an election year, the findings of the study are problematic for the “DEFUND THE POLICE!” crowd quietly and implicitly led by the Biden Administration, Joe Biden, the Department of Justice and AG Merrick Garland.
According to the FBI, “Officers Killed and Assaulted in the Line of Duty, 2023 Special Report, provides preliminary counts of law enforcement officers killed and assaulted in 2023, as well as an in-depth analysis of law enforcement officers who were killed or assaulted from 2014 through 2023, based on the data voluntarily provided by law enforcement agencies to the FBI’s UCR Program.”
For a presidential administration seeking reelection in 2024, which has leveraged two-tiered justice to target its political opposition at the same time it has walked both sides of the line to defund law enforcement agencies the nation over, the data set speaks for itself in the category of playing dumb games and winning stupid prizes.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to foment civil unrest by promoting protest at the same time you sought to defund those responsible for enforcing the law and ensuring public safety? Not anyone without a duplicitous agenda.
A summer of “mostly peaceful protest” in 2020 that was unpacked after America was locked-down in a fraudulent “pandemic” presents as a perfect on ramp for the consequences resulting from the Biden Administration’s policy decisions.
The data evidencing those policy decisions is obvious on its face.
The FBI indicates that,
“The study of the data reveals, from 2021 to 2023, more officers were feloniously killed (194) than in any other consecutive three-year period in the past 20 years (73 officers in 2021, 61 officers in 2022, and 60 officers in 2023).”

Moreover, “a study of the data shows the rate of officers assaulted has increased each of the past three years.”
The study indicates that, “Agencies reported 79,091 officers were assaulted in 2023, marking the highest officer assault rate in the past 10 years. Most officer assaults occurred when responding to simple assaults against a non-officer (6,783 incidents), followed by drug/narcotic violations (4,879). The number of officers assaulted and injured by firearms has climbed over the years, reaching a 10-year high in 2023 with approximately 466 officers assaulted and injured by firearms.” …………

They’ll be catching up to the Clintons soon!!!
NY Post: “A former Obama campaign worker and her wife were killed in a horrific car wreck in Southern California last week. Peggy Moore, 60, and Hope Wood, 48, were passengers in a Jeep pickup truck that collided Friday with a Chrysler sedan on Highway 76, near Fallbrook, killing them, NBC Bay Area reported.
The 60-year-old man behind the wheel of the Jeep was also killed, as was the driver of the Chrysler, the outlet said.
A third passenger in the Jeep survived the wreck. Moore was the only crash victim named by the medical examiner, but tributes online quickly revealed that both wives had been killed.
Moore and Wood, who lived in the Bay Area, met while campaigning for Barack Obama in 2008, the report added. In 2019, they founded Hope Action Change, a consultancy and coaching firm with an emphasis on diversity and equity.
“Together they organized, changed hearts and minds, and helped to create a world where who you love doesn’t limit your freedoms,” Rep. Barbara Lee wrote on X. “Both Peggy and Hope made an impact on our community, on our city, on our state, and on our nation that will be felt for generations to come.”
Moore was the campaign manager for former Oakland Mayor Libby Schaff, and was a senior adviser in Schaff’s office from 2015 through 2017, according to her LinkedIn. Moore also served as a general consultant for Diana Becton’s successful run for district attorney of Contra Costa County, her profile stated.
“You could not walk anywhere with Peggy without it taking two hours,” Schaaf said of Moore, according to KRON4. “She knew every person. For her, politics was deeply personal. It was about connecting through our differences. To lift up our shared hopes and just love.”
Those close to Moore and Wood were “somewhat comforted by the idea that they went immediately. That they went instantaneously without pain and that they went together,” she added.”

I am adding a short daily prayer to the board. I would invite each of you, if you wish, to also add one or maybe two of your own liking. I do not want to stifle anyone but please limit yourself to one or two religious postings. here’s one I found that I liked.
