DIY: Hide-A-Key

I found an interesting article on Crafts By Amanda on repurposing plastic pill bottles.  Many of the ideas were just storage ideas—for small items: buttons, paper clips, needles and so on.  A few were creating traveling sized items—like a sewing kit or for a larger bottle, or a travel first aid kit.  A couple of them though, I thought were very clever and those I wanted to share here.

Hide-a-Key

As you can see from the graphic above, detailed instructions are not really necessary.  Take a cleaned pill bottle (they are water tight—I tried one of mine) and a plain old rock.  Make sure the rock is large enough to cover the lid completely and that it is not unusual in any way (pretty or unusual rocks will draw unwanted attention…lol).  Use a good glue and follow the manufacturer’s instructions on drying time to glue the rock to the lid.  Dig a small hole to accommodate the bottle and you’re good to go!  NOTE: in the comments to the article, someone suggested a pine cone could also be used.

Campfire Matches

Since the pill bottles are water tight, they make an excellent container for matches for a camping trip—especially if there’s water (as in rafting or canoeing) involved!  The website says you can remove and tuck the striking surface into the bottle OR you can glue to the bottle which I think is the better option.

  1. Good morning, Miss Pat!

Love the ideas for pill bottles – since Sally Q and her Dad have so many meds!

If I ever get time, I want to use the rock or a pine cone to make a hide-a-key!

        1. Welcome back! Whenever I go anywhere, I have to back my truck out of the garage, and return the same way, thru the garage. I leave the opener on the dashboard of my truck.

            1. Then I walk thru the east gate and in the back door of the garage, which is almost never locked. I could also get in thru the patio – just pull it open far enough to unwrap the bungee and, again, the patio doors are rarely locked. It’s just not something I have to worry about here. If I were in Norfolk, that would be a different story.

  5. on our way down to see Mom, we were cruising on the highway (going South) and we passed a semi hauling a flat bed trailer. whatever was on the flatbed was covered by white sheeting but you could see the wheels of whatever it was–looked like a tank! Then a little ways down the highway, we passed the PA Welcome center. Guess what was parked in the parked lot there? 2 more flatbeds with the same equipment covered with white sheeting. ODD

so mom was close to the epicenter. we were hearing and SEEING helicopters overhead steadily every day since–sun up to close to sun down. two flying together both going South–all the time. never any returning.

Well, there is THIS rumor. A friend’s daughter sent her this:

“WARNING- April 8th Solar Eclipse Biological
Attack. Uncle Intel. Do Not Go Outside That Day!

Uncle Intel: They are planning a biological
attack on April 8th, just before the totality of
    the eclipse.

This is how it’s going to go down.
Planes will be delivering their payload at three
    intervals.

First will be 2 hours before totality,
1 hour before totality and final one 30 mins
    before totality.

The planes will be deploying a dry powder (bacterial bioweapon). It will not be visible. You won’t see it from the planes or the sky. It’s meant to infect through aerosol
    delivery.

The first two planes will be at standard altitude, the final plane will be at approximately 10,000 – 15,000 feet.

The path of flight will begin from the northeast, and
they will travel down the central path of totality heading west-south-west, keeping in pace with the totality of the eclipse.

They are doing this to take advantage of the
event because they know there will be
guaranteed targets that will be infected, and
thus be the vectors to spread the contagion.

Symptoms will begin appearing 7 – 10 days after infection.

30 days after infection the media will notice. 60 days after infection the panic will at all-time highs. 90 days after infection the newly agreed upon UN/WHO pandemic powers will be enacted. And you know what will happen next.

People in the path of totality should not go outside. Bacterial payload will lose effectiveness within 6 hours __ post deployment. Half-life of powder with vary on
    humidity and temperature.

The staring point is in Canada, the end point is in Mexico.
Winds are the unpredictable factor, as is rain.
Both of which will negatively impact the operation.

  7. wow…here’s a different theory…

Everyone is asking who is “really in charge” of the country, since President Biden obviously ain’t it.

I don’t know, but if we judge by outcomes, it looks like Hunter has been running things.

Hookers and drugs streaming over the border. China-controlledTikTok operating freely. Ukraine funded at any cost. Budget poorly managed. Cocaine in the White House. Intel people pull a laptop hoax.

Who is the “smartest person” Joe knows?

    Jill is the diversion.

    It’s been Hunter all along.

    1. Sorry but that is pure BS, IMO! It’s not just one person running this clown show! It is a cadre of them including the usual suspects and a bunch of new ones.

  9. Just The News: “In what was billed as a classic battle and rematch, the South Carolina Gamecocks defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 in the NCAA Women’s basketball championship on Sunday, in a game that lived up to the hype and the moment.

South Carolina was led today by Tessa Johnson and Kamilla Cardoso, who combined for 34 points. Iowa’s All American guard Caitlin Clark, who has become the face of women’s basketball over the last couple of years, scored 30 points for Iowa, but that wasn’t enough to defeat South Carolina, which won its third national championship under coach Dawn Staley, also having won in 2017 and 2022. Iowa, under coach Lisa Bluder, is the only team to have defeated South Carolina over these past two seasons with a win in last year’s semifinal match and has never won a national title.

Staley won three Olympic gold medals with Team USA as a player and coached another team to an Olympic gold medal.

This was a rematch of last year’s semifinal game between these two powers in which Iowa won and moved on to the finals, where they lost to LSU.

This year, Iowa avenged that defeat by beating LSU in the Elite Eight round, the quarterfinals. Then, on Friday night, Iowa beat Connecticut 71-69 in a match-up of what was considered to be the two best players in women’s college basketball today, Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, the all-time leading scorer in NCAA basketball history, men or women, having surpassed LSU’s Pete Maravich earlier this season, and Connecticut’s Page Bueckers, who in 2021 was the first freshman to win college player of the year and led her team to the Final Four.

With 14.2 million viewers, the game was the most-watched women’s basketball game on record and the largest audience ever for a basketball game shown on ESPN.

Connecticut, under head coach Geno Auriemma who was coaching his 39th season for the Huskies, has won 11 national titles since 1995, far more than any other team.

South Carolina easily won over North Carolina State in its semifinal match on Friday to reach the championship game.

South Carolina finished the season with a record of 38-0, and their only loss in the last two years before today, both regular season and post-season, was last year’s semifinal loss to Iowa. South Carolina lost all five starters from last year’s team, but still made it to the finals today undefeated, and are now the champions.”
