What Shall We Bake Today?

Today’s recipe is Red Velvet Bundt Cake in honor of Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients

Cake:

Baking spray with flour

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

3 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder

3/4 tsp. baking soda

3/4 tsp. table salt

1 cup (8 oz.) unsalted butter, softened

1 2/3 cups granulated sugar

1/3 cup vegetable oil

4 large eggs, at room temperature

3/4 cup whole buttermilk

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 tsp. white vinegar

2 tsp. to 2 Tbsp. red food coloring

Cream Cheese Glaze:

4 oz. (1/2 package) cream cheese, at room temperature

1 1/3 cups powdered sugar

1 Tbsp. half and half or whole milk

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

Prepare oven and Bundt pan:

Preheat oven to 325°F. Generously spray a 12 cup Bundt pan with baking spray with flour.

Prepare Cake:

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together with an electric mixer until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add vegetable oil and beat 1 minute longer, until combined.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stop and scrape down the bottom and sides of the mixing bowl as needed.

Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, starting and ending with flour.

Beat in vanilla, vinegar, and food coloring (tint to desired shade) just until combined.

Pour batter into prepared pan and tap lightly on the counter to release any bubbles. Smooth the top of the batter with a spatula.

Bake cake:

Bake 55-65 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean and the top of cake springs back when touched.

Let cool in pan on cooling rack 10 minutes, then turn out onto cooling rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Glaze:

Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and salt together with an electric mixture on medium speed until smooth. Add half and half and vanilla; beat until smooth. If glaze is too thick to pour, add additional half and half, 1 teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

Decorate Cake:

Pour glaze over cooled cake.

They are trying to convince us that the economy is doing great under the Biden Regime. Never better. They want you to stop using your eyes to see what is around you.

    Your eyes can lie, only trust the media, they know better than you. In other words, the world you are experiencing isn’t real, and the world they are presenting to you is in fact the real world, and please, whatever you do, don’t look at the debt the government is racking up at record rates. Explaining how the debt isn’t bad is even exhausting for the “talking heads” to spin.

    They will tell you the GDP is better than expected, that it’s proof the economy is growing. What they aren’t telling you is the debt is growing much faster than the economy is growing. It’s like making $1k more a year in income while your credit card balance is growing by $10k a year. Another thing they aren’t telling you about the jobs numbers is that they are growing part-time, minimum wage jobs, and that they are replacing private sector jobs with government jobs. We all know how efficient government jobs are, and guess who is paying for those new government jobs? We are, through our taxes.

    Imagine going to a bank to get a loan using the government’s business model; the banker would laugh you out the door…..”

    ENTIRE ARTICLE: “King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer, which was discovered while he was being treated for prostate issues, Buckingham Palace said Monday. “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the palace said.

    Charles, 75, started cancer treatment on Monday and his doctors advised him to postpone public duties at this time, but the monarch of the United Kingdom will continue to conduct official business as usual, officials said.

    “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the palace also said.

    Charles left the hospital last week after spending three nights there following his treatment for an enlarged prostate. The palace did not specify what form of cancer Charles was diagnosed with or the stage that it is in.”

    With the help of Republican lawmakers, South Dakota Secretary of State Monae Johnson has brought a handful of election-related bills to the 2024 legislative session, all to the ire of her campaign supporters. At her request, lawmakers have presented bills to share the statewide voter registration file, establish the crime of threatening a poll worker, and recently SB 17, which modifies the state’s recently-enacted law requiring new South Dakota voters to have resided in the state for at least 30 days. As currently amended, this bill would essentially open the door to anyone living anywhere to vote in South Dakota elections.

    As originally introduced, Senate Bill 17 sought to add language to the state’s 30-day residency requirement specifically demanding individuals live in South Dakota “for at least thirty days in the three hundred and sixty-five days immediately prior” to registering to vote. Now the bill, in its current form as amended by the Republican-controlled Senate, would abandon the 30-day residency protections entirely and do away with current residency law that defines a residence as “an actual fixed permanent dwelling.” Such a change would allow practically anyone to buy a South Dakota mailing address and use it to vote.

    Senate Bill 17 was introduced with an emergency clause, meaning it goes into effect immediately. It has passed in the Senate committee and on the Senate floor, recently passed the House committee, and is set to be heard on the House floor soon. It has been scheduled and deferred twice this week. As of Friday, three amendments have dropped that would strike any verification of residency, with one proposing the creation of a “virtual resident” option.
