The Cyclomer

The Cyclomer was meant to be the world’s first amphibious bicycle. This weird and wonderful looking thing had hollow wheels that doubled as floats and was meant to be able to pass across both land and water with ease. However, when it launched in Paris, France, in 1932 it was less successful as the floats couldn’t get traction on either surface and so it never caught on.

A sandwich bag that looks like it’s covered in mold and has been left to go rotten. Simple, yet effective. Though a close inspection gives the game away when you see fresh lettuce and ham inside.

Quack Muzzles for Dogs

If your dog is a bit of a mischief and needs to look a bit cuter, then the Japanese have you covered. This invention is a dog muzzle which makes your dog look like a duck, because why not?

Monowheel Motorbikes

Monowheel motorbikes look ridiculous and seem like they’d be insanely dangerous, impractical and a daft thing to get involved with. When they first appeared in the 1860s though, it was thought that they could become a genuine form of transport. Fortunately that never really transpired, but people still try to ride them for fun. There are obvious issues with them including stability, limited carrying capacity and perhaps most hilariously, the risk of “gerbiling”. This last issue is a problem which happens if the user brakes too hard and the force negates the usual force of gravity resulting in a driver going flying around the wheel like a gerbil in its wheel.

Hamblin Glasses for the Lazy Reader

In the 1930s in England, these glasses appeared offering the lazy reader the chance to lay down in bed, but still be able to read books. Essentially similar logic to periscopes with mirrors redirecting vision. They clearly didn’t catch on and probably weren’t very comfortable or practical.

The Selfie Toaster

Burnt Impressions created a novelty toaster that allowed the user to make toast charred with their own selfies. Because what’s better in the morning that eating your own face?

Necomimi Brainwave Cat Ears

In 2012 leading biosensor company NeuroSky unveiled some wearable cat ears that could be used to show the user’s mood. When worn, the cat ears could show off three emotional states. If the user’s attention is piqued by something, then they pop straight up. When relaxed, the ears flop down and when concentrating they would wiggle. We can’t help but think that these ears were released before their time. They’d probably do well now with Twitch streamers.

Umbrella Drone

Drones are awesome for various reasons. We love the capture capabilities of these airborne devices and the images they can create. They’re not all amazing though, some of them are a little questionable. Like this Umbrella Drone which was revealed at CES 2017. Though perhaps if you could set it to follow mode when it’s raining you could have a hands-free umbrella?

Sony Vaio Mouse Talk

Some things on this list might have seemed logical at the time but now look pretty ridiculous. The Sony Vaio Mouse Talk was one such product. A wired mouse that doubled as a USB phone when you were talking on Skype. Seems so antiquated now.

    looks like we got about 5-6 inches so far and looks to be lightly snowing.
    my kids are getting hammered.
    my son says he took a sleeping bag to work yesterday and plans to spend the night there. when we spoke, he said there was already 10 inches on the ground.
    if the temps warm up? gonna be some flooding
    my son in law bought a new ( to him) farm truck this past fall and it came with a plow. he’s looking forward to trying it out.
    he’s the guy in the neighborhood who brought home his skid loader and did the whole neighborhood’s driveways–he’s such a good guy.

    1. Morning, Pat! Some of these so-called “inventions!” You gotta wonder: “WTF were they thinking?!?!” LOL – supposedly, the temps up that way are due to rise with the expected flooding. The next system is fixing to come thru here tonight into tomorrow w/possibly 6-8 inches of new snow. Probably head that way next. 24 here this morning; no sign of Wheezer yet.

              4. Oh, hell, yes! After I fill the feeders today, the only thing I’ll open a door for is to feed Wheezer and get my mail/package. I expect that will be delayed but I’ve got some back-up BF’s so I’m good. And plenty of other food as well.

                I’ve finally gotten fed up enough with my sinuses that I’m going to use up every single drop of sinus rinse and nasal spray they sent me. They won’t be able to say “you didn’t follow our directions!” Pissers!!! I’ve got to do something – this sneezing and runny nose is driving me nuts! I’m also taking an OTC allergy pill and, since I got the wrong humidifier filter, I’ve got water simmering on the stove. Not much more I can do, I guess.

    (America First Report)—The promising career of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a beating since he decided to run against President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination. Now, credible rumors are being reported by corporate media sources (which is an oxymoronic statement, I know) that DeSantis is preparing to drop out after losing the Iowa caucuses a week from Monday

    If true, it would be the first step toward salvaging his future prospects for a possible 2028 run. According to Douglas Mackinnon at The Hill:

    ‘I have heard from two people very familiar with the DeSantis campaign — a major donor and a high-level political operative — that if the Florida governor loses the Iowa caucuses to former President Donald Trump as expected on the night of Jan. 15, he will either drop out of the race that night or make his announcement the next morning.

    More than that, both believe DeSantis will then — very begrudgingly — endorse Trump for president.

    Should both predictions come to pass, DeSantis would be jumping on a bandwagon that is dramatically increasing in speed and taking on more and more Republican politicians looking to back the clear frontrunner. Last week, Trump received critically important endorsements from House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (Minn.) and Majority Leader Steve Scalise (La.). Those are on top of Speaker Mike Johnson’s (La.) endorsement just a month ago.’

    Despite putting the majority of his focus on Iowa, DeSantis has failed to break 20% in recent polls. Trump has led both DeSantis and Nikki Haley by at least 30-points in every major Iowa poll since the beginning of December.

    But Iowa is a strange creature with a caucus system that has drawn criticism in recent elections. Trump led the polls going into the 2016 caucuses but Senator Ted Cruz beat him. This prompted both DeSantis and Haley to focus on their Iowa ground game throughout primary season, but it hasn’t moved the needle enough.

    DeSantis received the brunt of attacks from both Trump and his base for months, but over the last few weeks Haley has emerged as a favorite target. This lack of concern about DeSantis’s prospects of beating Trump may be contributing to his potential early exit.

    Commentary: First and foremost, rumors like these are always questionable. Until DeSantis stands in front of his supporters and announces it, there’s no reason to assume it’ll happen. For his sake, any truth to these rumors could be a blessing.

    It behooves DeSantis to drop out as quickly as possible and get fully behind President Trump if he hopes to run again. Trump has proven a willingness to move on after opponents drop out. Following one of the ugliest primary contests in modern history against Cruz in 2016, the two reconciled and became allies before Trump’s election victory. Cruz’s name was even on the short list to be a Supreme Court nominee.

    If DeSantis drops out after Iowa and helps Trump, there may be enough time to gain favor with Trump’s base. But the longer he stays in, the harder it will be for them to forgive and forget even if Trump accepts him as an ally.”

      IF congress passes that bill that allows congress NOT to count electoral votes from states that exclude candidates from ballots. it sounded like retribution for the blue states doing it–BUT if enough red states do it and THEY get their electoral votes not counted, ultra maggot could have an easy walk in the electoral college.

  20. yesterday one of the little things we did was put out a corn block for the deer–looks sort of liek this one

    we wait till the ground is covered with snow and they are having difficulty finding anything to chew on before we start putting them out. put it out early yesterday and the 3 deer that walked by paid no attention. this morning, you can see dozens of tracks in the snow and the block is already rounded on the top…lol

    1. Oh, it doesn’t take them long! I have to refill my feeders today before the snow starts.

      I’m watching an episode of The Unexplained with William Shatner and they were discussing the JFK shooting. I did not know some of this: The SS instructed the doctors at the ER in TX that they were taking control of the body; that was counter to TX State Law and the TX Medical Examiner objected profusely. VP Johnson got involved and they took the body.

      It was flown to Bethesda and 2 MILITARY people did the actual autopsy! His brain was removed and was eventually store in a sealed, locked metal canister that ended up at the Archives in a locked chest. You have to wonder why wasn’t it buried with the rest of his body? And why didn’t the family object at the time? Did they even know???

      RFK knew at some point because he was the one who insisted all the materials related to that day be moved to the Archives, under the control of JFK’s secretary, who was working there, gathering all of JFK’s documentation.

      Years later, the chest was opened and the brain was gone, never to be seen again, and never finding out where or who took it. The point being….since he was shot in the head, there would have been slivers of the bullet in the brain that could be tested. Yet another angle to consider…

    This insight comes amid the Duke of York’s naming within the release of new court documents about the disgraced prince and Jeffrey Epstein. Some of the papers showed that an Epstein s– slave, Jane Doe 3, stated that she was forced to engage in sexual activity with the Duke of York. The papers shared that the underage girl was “forced to have sexual relations with this prince when she was a minor in three separate geographical locations.”

    The revelations have now pushed the ongoing “Andrew situation” the monarchy has faced for over four years into the “nuclear” territory when it comes to public perception. There are also fresh calls from anti-Crown activists for the King himself to publicly address the dire new evidence. “The King has no option but to completely cut ties with Andrew,” a royal insider spilled. “He will forever be tainted by his association with Epstein, and despite his denials of wrongdoing, the constant drip of information about Epstein and Ghislaine Max­­well is a stain on the royal family.”

    “There is no way back for him. Andrew should have no place in public alongside the King or any other member of the royal family,” the source added. But a situation that dire is not likely as the reality will likely find His Majesty pulling the plug on all family appearances for the Duke on a permanent basis. “Andrew is a very arrogant man and he loves to keep his royal trappings.     Prince Andrew could soon be “forced out” of the Royal Lodge and have his private security funding yanked away, according to a report. The disgraced Duke of York has resided at the royal residence, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, since 2004 after signing a 75-year lease agreement the year prior. The Royal Lodge previously belonged to the Queen Mother until her death in 2002. Andrew currently shares the 31-room Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

    But sources told the Daily Mail that the latest developments in the Epstein document unsealing could indeed “crystalize” King Charles’s determination to solve the “Andrew problem.” “When it comes to any public role for his brother, there is no way back,” an insider told the outlet. “There has always been an agreement that Andrew would be permitted to attend private and family events, as is his right. But not public or official ones. That has not changed,” the source added.

    It’s reported that the King will now look to move his scandal-scarred brother into a smaller residence, although he will not turn his back on him. “When it comes to family, it is difficult. But this association is just never going to go away. And that means he [Andrew] has to,” another source added. Charles is prepared to slash Andrew’s private funding for the security operation at the royal residence, The Telegraph reports. Sources told the outlet that Andrew will have to fork out millions to fund his security costs at Royal Lodge should he want to stay there.

    Andrew’s name, as well as over 200 others, appeared in court documents that contain a gross accusation of inappropriate touching by the British royal. They were filed in a since-settled defamation lawsuit that Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre brought against the late sicko’s madam, Ghislaine Maxwell, in 2015. Unsealed docs reveal that one alleged Epstein victim, Johanna Sjoberg, said in a 2016 deposition that Andrew put his hand on her breast as she sat on his lap at the financier’s Manhattan townhouse in 2001.

    1. From whatsuptoday: “A 48-year-old woman died after being found outside a Philadelphia sports bar Saturday allegedly hanging from an iron gate, according to Fox 29.

      The Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) stated the woman was reportedly found on the gate outside Xfinity Live! in South Philadelphia near the stadiums, according to the outlet. While her name has not been released, authorities allegedly stated they believe the 48-year-old was climbing the gate around 2 a.m., Fox 29 reporter Steeve Keeley confirmed online.

      During her attempt to get over the gate, the 48-year-old allegedly fell but could not reach the ground, Fox 29 reported. The woman was allegedly dangling for an unconfirmed amount of hours after she had been reportedly impaled through her leg from the gate, the outlet reported.

      PPD Public Information Officer Tanya Little told the outlet the woman had injuries on both legs and feet which were “consistent with the gate.” Little additionally told the outlet there have been no signs so far of foul play. “No other signs of trauma were observed,” Little told Fox 29.

      After the woman was found, medics removed her from the fence and reportedly rushed her to the Methodist Hospital nearby, according to Fox 29. The woman, however, had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead around 8:45 a.m., according to the outlet.

      The area where the woman was found is a popular sports bar for locals, especially for Philly fans, becoming a regular pregame and postgame hangout, according to Fox News. Notably, prior to the incident on Friday night the 76ers hosted the New York Knicks for the only event of the sports complex, Fox News reported.

      Authorities with the PPD are still continuing to investigate, according to Fox 29.”

  42. just got done shoveling off the deck and the ramp…we got 5 inches mostly. the snow packed easily and shoveling wasn’t bad. a few minutes AFTER i came in, the snow and icicles from the roof started coming down…sigh
