History of Nicola Tesla, Part 1

Serbian-American engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) invented the first alternating current (AC) motor and developed AC generation and transmission technology. Though he was famous and respected, he was never able to translate his copious inventions into long-term financial success—unlike his early employer and chief rival, Thomas Edison.

Nikola Tesla

Nikola Tesla was born in 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His father was a priest in the Serbian Orthodox church and his mother managed the family’s farm. In 1863 Tesla’s brother Daniel was killed in a riding accident. The shock of the loss unsettled the 7-year-old Tesla, who reported seeing visions.

Young Tesla in the lab

In 1870, Tesla moved to Karlovac (Carlstadt) and stayed with his Aunt and Col. “Old War Horse” Brankovic. He attended “Higher Real Gymnasium” where teacher Martin Sekulic taught him math and physics and had a decided influence over him. Tesla graduated Gimnazije Karlovac a year early.

House where Tesla lived in Karlovac

Did you know? During the 1890s Mark Twain struck up a friendship with inventor Nikola Tesla. Twain often visited him in his lab, where in 1894 Tesla photographed the great American writer in one of the first pictures ever lit by phosphorescent light.

Tesla and Twain

Tesla studied math and physics at the Technical University of Graz and philosophy at the University of Prague. In 1882, while on a walk, he came up with the idea for a brushless AC motor, making the first sketches of its rotating electromagnets in the sand of the path. Later that year he moved to Paris and got a job repairing direct current (DC) power plants with the Continental Edison Company. Two years later he immigrated to the United States.

Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison

Tesla arrived in New York in 1884 and was hired as an engineer at Thomas Edison’s Manhattan headquarters. He worked there for a year, impressing Edison with his diligence and ingenuity. At one point Edison told Tesla he would pay $50,000 for an improved design for his DC dynamos. After months of experimentation, Tesla presented a solution and asked for the money. Edison demurred, saying, “Tesla, you don’t understand our American humor.” Tesla quit soon after.

Nikola Tesla and Westinghouse

After an unsuccessful attempt to start his own Tesla Electric Light Company and a stint digging ditches for $2 a day, Tesla found backers to support his research into alternating current. In 1887 and 1888 he was granted more than 30 patents for his inventions and invited to address the American Institute of Electrical Engineers on his work.

His lecture caught the attention of George Westinghouse, the inventor who had launched the first AC power system near Boston and was Edison’s major competitor in the “Battle of the Currents.” Westinghouse hired Tesla, licensed the patents for his AC motor and gave him his own lab. In 1890 Edison arranged for a convicted New York murderer to be put to death in an AC-powered electric chair—a stunt designed to show how dangerous the Westinghouse standard could be.

Edison’s Electric Chair

Buoyed by Westinghouse’s royalties, Tesla struck out on his own again. But Westinghouse was soon forced by his backers to renegotiate their contract, with Tesla relinquishing his royalty rights. In the 1890s Tesla invented electric oscillators, meters, improved lights and the high-voltage transformer known as the Tesla coil.

Early Tesla Coil

He also experimented with X-rays, gave short-range demonstrations of radio communication two years before Guglielmo Marconi and piloted a radio-controlled boat around a pool in Madison Square Garden. Together, Tesla and Westinghouse lit the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago and partnered with General Electric to install AC generators at Niagara Falls, creating the first modern power station.

      1. Very true! The cabal also restricted the lightbulbs so people would be forced to replace them instead of the lightbulbs that will last for years and years and years. Can’t make any money if they don’t have to be replaced!

        1. How many of Edison’s lab technicians had inventions co-opted & monetized by Edison?
Though I’m sure nothing compares with what was stolen and suppressed from Tesla (his was an unparalleled genius), I’ve little doubt that Edison’s thievery was comprehensive.

Our Take: “We’re less than a week away from 2024, and I’m excited. Election years are fun — especially for MAGA — and President Trump is already playing with the latest out of the Ramaswamy camp.

‘He will, I am sure, Endorse me. But Vivek is a good man, and is not done yet!’ The 45th President posted this message on Truth Social Tuesday evening, sharing the news that Vivek is scaling back on TV ad spending. Vivek’s announcement contains an important cultural signal that deserves attention. The Ramaswamy camp isn’t scaling back on ads, just on TV ads. This is a smart use of dollars since most people no longer consume media in real time, and the rise of DVR has resulted in TV ads’ diminishing returns.

Vivek is signaling that traditional media is dead. Vivek is going where the eyeballs are — and that’s not on traditional television programming. People are hungry for truth, and they are finding it in new media. If this wasn’t true, all the censorship and truth ministries would be unnecessary.

Whether you think Ramaswamy is the future of the Republican Party, a deep state troll, or anything in between, you cannot deny that he is running an insurgent campaign, disrupting the charade of uniparty election year norms. As always, my position on candidates is that they are irrelevant until we have free and fair elections, with the sole exception of their usefulness to the narrative. Vivek is useful.

EXCERPT: “Children as young as three years old have been referred to Britain’s socialised medicine’s ‘Gender Identity Development Service’ transgender clinic, with hundreds of young children referred in the past decade.

382 children aged six and under have been referred to the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) in the Tavistock and Portman Trust, known commonly as the National Health Service’s transgender clinic, in the past ten years new figures from the Trust reveal. The numbers, published by the Daily Mail, reveal how even the youngest children have been pushed into interacting with the controversial clinic, and that the numbers being referred to GIDS have soared in recent years.

The clinic, which has no official younger age limit to those it will see, has had 12 three-year-olds referred to it between 2010 and 2020, as well as 61 four-year-olds, 140 five-year-olds, and 169 six-year-olds. The number of young people being sent to GIDS year-on-year shows how quickly the concept is spreading, with 136 referrals in 2010-11 to 3,585 a decade later.

It has been previously reported that the clinic “treated” some 19,000 children of all ages in 25 years….”

  6. EXCERPT FROM BB: “Elon Musk’s Tesla has initiated yet another recall of 120,423 Model S and X vehicles in the United States, this time to address doors that may pop open in the event of a crash when unlocked.

Engadget reports that Elon Musk’s Tesla has recently announced its second recall in the United States within a few weeks. This latest recall affects a substantial number of vehicles — specifically, 120,423 Model S and X units manufactured between 2021 and 2023.

The recall is prompted by a critical safety issue involving the vehicles’ doors. According to reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there is a risk that an unlocked door may unlatch and open during a collision. This malfunction not only increases the risk of injury to passengers but also signifies non-compliance with federal safety regulations.

Tesla is addressing the safety concern with an over-the-air (OTA) software update designed to rectify the door safety problem. Tesla also plans to send out notification letters to the owners of the affected vehicles in February, ensuring they are fully informed about the issue and the steps taken to resolve it.

This latest recall comes just weeks after Breitbart News reported another significant recall by Tesla involving over 2 million vehicles in the United States, addressing safety concerns in its Autopilot software, particularly the Autosteer feature. Breitbart News reported: ‘While Tesla’s Autopilot system is meant to keep the vehicle in its lane, drivers are nonetheless instructed to keep their hands on the steering wheel at all times while observing road conditions and traffic.

But research shows drivers using Autopilot look away from the road more often, and that many of them believe their cars drive themselves which can lead to road accidents.’

Entire Article @ BB: “Hyperloop One, Elon Musk’s attempt at futuristic transportation, is officially shutting down, marking the end of a project that aimed to revolutionize travel with high-speed pods.

Electrek reports that Hyperloop One, envisioned as a high-speed transportation solution, promised to whisk passengers and cargo at speeds comparable to jets between cities in vacuum-sealed tubes. This ambitious project, originating from Elon Musk’s 2013 “alpha paper,” captivated imaginations with the prospect of travel at speeds of 760 mph, theoretically reducing the travel time between Los Angeles and San Francisco, or New York and DC, to just 30 minutes.

Despite early excitement, the project faced significant skepticism from scientists and engineers, who questioned its practicality. Nonetheless, the idea was compelling enough to attract substantial investment, including a substantial injection of $350 million from Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and DP World, a Dubai-based port logistics firm, in 2017. However, the venture struggled to manage its finances effectively, burning through these investments rapidly with little to show for it.

The company’s journey was further marred by controversy after company cofounder Shervin Pishevar resigned following allegations of sexual misconduct. Tensions with Saudi Arabia, exacerbated by Richard Branson’s criticism following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, resulted in the withdrawal of Saudi investment and Branson stepping down as chair.

The first and only human passenger test in 2020 ended in disappointment, achieving a top speed of only 100 mph, far below the projected speeds. The onset of the coronavirus pandemic worsened the company’s struggles, leading to a significant reduction in staff and a pivot from passenger to cargo transportation in 2022. However, this shift could not salvage the company, and it was announced that DP World would sell off Hyperloop One’s intellectual property rights and assets, including a test track outside Las Vegas.”

  7. “Alabama Woman with Double Uterus Gives Birth Twice in Two Days”
By KATHERINE HAMILTON, 26 Dec 202359

ENTIRE ARTICLE @ BB: An Alabama woman with a rare double uterus gave birth twice in two days the week before Christmas in what doctors are calling a “one in a million” pregnancy, the BBC reported. Kelsey Hatcher, 32, delivered one daughter on December 19 and a second the next day at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital, totaling 20 hours in labor. Hatcher announced the birth of her “miracle babies” on social media and credited her “incredible” medical team.

“The girls are described as fraternal twins — with rare separate birthdays,” according to the report. “Ms. Hatcher said the family was now back at home to ‘enjoy the holidays.’ She had previously expected a Christmas due date.” An obstetrician with the UAB confirmed to the outlet that Hatcher and both babies are healthy and called the case one that most people in her profession “go through their entire careers and never see.”

When Hatcher was 17, doctors told her she had a double uterus (uterus didelphys), which the UAB said is a rare congenital anomaly that affects 0.3 percent of women. The UAB said the odds of becoming pregnant in both uteri, called a dicavitary pregnancy, is even rarer, at odds of “one in a million.” Before her double pregnancy, Hatcher had three healthy pregnancies. She expected the most recent pregnancy to be the same until an ultrasound revealed both wombs carrying a baby, according to the report.

Hatcher’s medical team described the pregnancy overall as routine, except for the labor, which required double the tracking and staffing. Prof. Richard Davis, who co-managed the delivery, told the outlet that each baby had enjoyed “extra space to grow and develop.”

Hatcher’s labor was induced at 39 weeks. UAB staff said they did not have “a lot of evidence or data” around double pregnancies since they are so rare and instead used their knowledge of typical pregnancies to guide them, according to the report. The babies were each delivered by different methods. Roxi was born first and was born vaginally, while Rebel was delivered through a cesarean section.

Davis classified the baby girls as fraternal twins, a term used to describe twin babies that develop from separate eggs and are fertilized by separate sperm. “At the end of the day, it was two babies in one belly at the same time,” he said. “They just had different apartments.”

ENTIRE ARTICLE @ BB: “A bystander saved a newborn baby girl after witnessing her mother give birth and abandon her inside a trash can in Honolulu, Hawaii, officials said. The Honolulu Police Department has opened a child abandonment case after a Kahala resident saved the baby girl from the trash bin, Hawaii News Now reported on Monday.

Officials said the man heard a woman screaming at about 11:30 p.m., and as he called 911, he said he saw the woman give birth, place the baby in the trash can, and leave the scene. Police said the man quickly ran and rescued the baby. The baby girl was then taken to Kapiolani Medical Center in serious condition, according to Honolulu Emergency Services.

“Hearing about it, it’s heartbreaking, really, just knowing that, you know, that’s a helpless little one,” Kahala resident Christen Tominaga told the outlet. “I’m glad somebody found the baby, and hopefully, it’s getting all the care and love it needs right now.” No arrests have been made so far, according to the report.

It should be noted that Hawaii has a Safe Haven Law, which allows the legal surrender of a baby up to 72 hours after birth. Under the law, a parent is allowed to leave the child with the personnel of a hospital, fire station, police station, or emergency services provider.”
